Rowaelin Month 2023, Day 20: Drunken Antics

y'all know i cannot resist this prompt 🤭🤭 so enjoy some fun drunken shenanigans involving the whole court of Terrasen plus Fenrys, Dorian, and some potentially bad decisions (but no angst i promise). fair warning: it's total crack, i honestly don't think it makes any sense, but it's (maybe) fun

also based off a prompt sent to @rowaelinprompts: "drunk and clingy Aelin" ;))

Aelin was absolutely beaming as she descended the stairs and headed into the well-lit great room of the castle's private wing, where a fire was blazing merrily in the hearth and laughter spilled from the wide-open doors. Her heart was full twice over at the sound of her friends' laughter--they had all been through so much in the last ten years, and the fact that they could still laugh was a miracle in and of itself.

"You're late!" Dorian called, catching her arm and leading her into the informal party. "And about three drinks behind, Your Majesty." Grinning, his sapphire eyes just beginning to glaze over, he grabbed the nearest flask and poured her a cup, tapping his drink to hers. "Cheers!"

"And you have shit tolerance, Your Majesty," she teased, downing the short glass of wine in one go. Dorian rolled his eyes, and she laughed. "Lighten up, Dor. Not all of us have your youthful ability to recover." Dorian, as a human, had less tolerance than the Fae and the shifter and Elide, who could drink Lorcan under the table, but he also recovered rapidly from his hangovers.

"Again with the you're an old man jokes?" Lorcan clicked his tongue, smirking. "Wasn't it you who kept telling me to get creative?"

"That would be your wife, actually." Aelin raised her refilled cup to the hulking, dark-haired male, whose face flushed bright scarlet at her innuendo.

"Galathynius," he grunted, tipping the contents of his glass down his throat.

"Don't be so put off, darling," Elide soothed her husband. "Aelin's just grumpy because you made me scream so loud last night we woke the whole castle up."

"And I'll do it again tonight," he winked.

Fenrys spewed wine all over himself. "Fucking gods!" he shrieked, pretending to be mortified. "You lot and your insatiable se--"

"You're just as bad, Fenny," Aelin smirked. "Or should I say, good boy?"

The normally roguish blonde blushed bright crimson and said nothing, choosing to grab the nearest ounce glass of liquor and tip it down his throat. "How?!" he demanded, both mortified and genuinely curious to discover how Aelin had heard that little pet name.

She beamed innocently and threw back a shot of her own. "That's for me to know and you--and your pretty boy--to find out."

"Pretty boy?" Lysandra wheezed, slinging her arm around Aelin's shoulders. "Holy rutting gods, Fen, I knew you weren't particular in bed, but I never would have guessed you'd want to be the one taking orders."

Dorian was conspicuously silent.

Observant as ever, Aelin turned towards the young king, a smile so friendly and approachable that it was truly terrifying slipping across her face. "Dor, darling."

"Oh fuck," he muttered.

"Have you been satisfied with Lord Moonbeam's visits to your kingdom?" The enquiry was perfectly polite, even diplomatic, but the smirk on Aelin's lips added a twist to the innocent words.

Dorian picked up the closest flask and drained it.

Fenrys snickered. "Don't be shy, Majesty. We won't--ah!" His teasing was abruptly cut off with a soft yelp. Dorian flicked the blonde Fae a look heated enough to boil water.

Aelin had a very good idea just what (phantom) hands had silenced Fenrys before he could make an incredibly ribald remark. "I see."

"For a queen so revered, Ae, you have no propriety," Aedion fake-sighed, reaching across his cousin to grab the glass bottle of whiskey that had definitely come from the back of the cellar.

"Says the one who cavorted his merry way through the mountains," she retorted, passing her glass to be filled. "Say, how is Kyllian doing these days?"

"He's fine," Aedion said, too quickly.

Lysandra grinned and curled herself close to Aedion's side, whispering something into his ear that made him choke on his mouthful of whiskey and splutter the aged liquor all over his shirt.

She cackled, tears of merriment spilling out of her bright green eyes. "There's no need to worry, Aed. We're all friends here, no?"

"How sweet," Elide crooned. She pinched her husband's cheek. "See, Lor? We're all friends."

"Lorcan doesn't have friends," Rowan said, completely deadpan. He'd been lounging in a comfortable armchair, admiring his wife and sipping on his glass of liquor like the civilized old male he was.

Lorcan snorted. "Fuck you."

"Let's keep the past in the past, shall we?" Rowan smirked over the rim of his glass.

For the second time that night, Lorcan's tan face flushed violently red, and the room exploded into laughter.

"I knew it!" Aelin cried triumphantly, pointing at Lorcan. "I knew you and my buzzard were lovers!"

"Best he's ever had," Lorcan mumbled, barely audible.

Elide gasped for breath through her peals of laughter, clutching at her chest and clinging to Lorcan's broad shoulder for support. "We need to get you drunk more often, love," she wheezed.

"The hell you do," he grumbled. "That sounds like a terrible idea."

"I have a GREAT idea!" Fenrys announced, rising unsteadily to his feet and brandishing his bottle of wine.

"You absolutely do not," absolutely everyone else chorused.

"First of all, that'sh' fuckin' rude!" He pretended to pout. "An' shecon'ly, it's a great idea!" He took a long drink from the bottle and pointed right at Lorcan. "Lorky, I dare you."

"You dare me to what, Moonie?" Lorcan shot the younger male an insolent smirk.

Fenrys beamed, which was both hilarious and terrifying. "Clothes off, an' pose as a sh-sht-stashue for three minutes."

"Fine." Lorcan drained the rest of his drink, stood up, shucked his clothes except for his undershorts, and strolled out into the hall. The others followed him, laughing and playfully ogling.

Elide wolf-whistled. "Don't be shy, Lor, pose like one of the ancient sculptures." She wiggled her eyebrows. "Most of us have seen you naked, you know."

Lorcan sighed, and Aelin swore she heard him mutter something about so much for keeping secrets under his breath. "I'm not drunk enough for that, Li."

"Pity," Aelin snickered. "You'd make such a well-endowed sculpture."

"Careful, Rowan," Lorcan drawled. "Your wife's objectifying other males again."

"Who gave my wife liquor?" Rowan called, laughing. "She only does that when she's drunk."

"You're mean," Aelin teased, frowning theatrically at her grumpy buzzard.

"Thought you liked me mean," he murmured, the words a wicked promise that set her blood alight. He wrapped his free arm around her waist and laid his hand against the curve of her ass, squeezing just enough to make her inhale.

"No!" Aedion yelped, throwing his hands over his face. "Shit, I'm standing right here!"

Lysandra doubled over with laughter, throwing a wink over at Aelin. "Look what you've done to your poor innocent little cousin," she giggled, unable to get all the words out without losing her grip on her merriment.

Aelin snorted. "Lys, if Aedy is innocent, then I'm a virgin priestess."

Lys wiped tears from her eyes. "All right, you--is Fenrys naked?"

Yes. Yes he was.

Completely undressed, Fenrys sprinted down the hall and back, grinning like a schoolboy when he reached the others again. "I didn't fall over!" he crowed, exuberant.

"Didn't stand up, either," Aelin muttered, half to herself.

Rowan coughed, a deep laugh billowing out of his chest. "Give him some slack, Fireheart," he laughed. "Moonie here is a little too drunk to perform as quickly as he usually does."

Fenrys shrieked in protest. "I perform longly!"

"Tha'sh'not a word, Fen," Dorian drawled, his words slurring together.

"Neither is anything the two of you are about to say to each other," Rowan whispered into Aelin's ear.

She around and pressed her face into his chest to stifle the fit of laughter that made her whole body shake. "You and your godsdamn impeccable timing," she gasped once she'd regained her breath.

Her husband winked. "I try."

Slowly, their dear friends began to disperse, first Fenrys and Dorian, the two leaning on each other for support but still staggering, then Elide and Lorcan, and finally Aedion and Lysandra. Aelin looked around the room at the empty glasses and bottles and flasks left on tables and couches. "Should we--"

"Later." Without blinking, Rowan swept her up into his arms. "Right now, you need to go to bed."

"Is that a promise, buzzard?" She looped her arms effortlessly around his neck, lowered her lashes, and smiled lazily up at him, sending a hazy image of slick skin and dancing flames into his mind.

He inhaled sharply, his nostrils flaring. "Don't tease me, princess." His voice dropped to a thick rumble, the way it always did when she'd pushed just the right buttons. In a blur of Fae speed, he whisked them upstairs to their rooms, kicked the door shut, and laid her gently on the bed.

And she promptly fell asleep.

Chuckling softly, Rowan slipped Aelin's shoes off, changed into his nightclothes, splashed some water on his face, and slipped into bed, curling himself around her. She sighed and went boneless against him, her breaths deep and rhythmic. In moments, he was asleep as well, following his queen into dreams as he did every night.

The Great Hunt, Chapter 35 - Stedding Tsofu

PERSPECTIVE: Rand and co are making for Stedding Tsofu, Ingtar's grumbly, Verin's pressing for speed, Rand is avoiding talking to Verin because he wants to be free of Aes Sedai permanently. Perrin's silent and stoic, and Mat looks sicker by the day, though he says he feels fine.

After half a day's ride, they pass through a point where Rand feels a flash of chill, and then a sense of loss, though he can't place what's missing. They've reached the stedding. They're greeted by Erith, who asks them to leave some of their armed men outside, and she leads everyone who’s coming in, to the Elders.

Loial dreamily admires Erith(1) in a whisper to the boys, but says he doesn't want to stay in the stedding, it's a boring life compared to traveling with these three. Mat remarks that at least they're safe in the stedding, and Rand realizes he's talking about Rand not being able to channel here.(2)

When they get to the Elders, there are three other human guests already: three Aiel women. At the sight of Shienarans, they raise their black veils across their faces, and Rand doesn't realize he's getting his sword out until it's in front of him. Mat announces he's leaving, he wants no truck with those spears and he's not shooting a woman.

Several Ogier beg them all to stop. One strides between the two groups and tells the Aiel women to remember the Pact. They lower their veils and look embarrassed. The Ogier introduces himself as Juin, and leads them to the Elders. As they pass the Aiel women, Rand overhears one horrified that he, personally, is wearing a sword.(3)

Erith says they'd come for sung wood, since they have two Treesingers here. Perrin mutters that they were looking for He Who Comes With The Dawn, which Mat clarifies is Rand. Rand is aghast when they explain Urien's message. He's not Aiel (no matter what the Amyrlin or Tam or Ingtar think...) Mat's just like, fine, whatever you say.

Hurin is in his glory. He never thought most places smelled bad, exactly, but here, there must never have been any violence, and hardly any accidental hurting, either. Rand says the stories say stedding are supposed to be safe for all.

Loial is looking nervous, and when Rand asks why, he explains that if a young woman of the Ogier sees a boy she likes, then she'll tell her mom, and her mom will talk to the boy's mom, and the marriage gets arranged. The young man has no say at all. If they find out he's out of the stedding without permission, they'll decide he needs a wife to settle him down, and be married before he can turn around. Mat guffaws, saying among humans, men do the choosing, and no wife can stop a man doing what he wants. Rand thinks about the relationships he's seen, and the one he had with Egwene despite the lack of formal promises, and says to Mat, do you ever remember your father doing anything your mother disapproved of? Mat grins, then frowns thoughtfully, and shuts up.(4)

Juin came down the steps from outside. “If you please, will all of you come with me? The Elders would see you.” He did not look at Loial, but Loial still almost dropped the book. “If the Elders try to make you stay,” Rand said, “we’ll say we need you to go with us.” “I’ll bet it isn’t about you at all,” Mat said. “I’ll bet they are just going to say we can use the Waygate.” He shook himself, and his voice fell even lower. “We really have to do it, don’t we.” It was not a question. “Stay and get married, or travel the Ways.” Loial grimaced ruefully. “Life is very unsettling with ta’veren for friends.”

(1) Ooh, baby's first crush? (2) Not cool, Mat, and it doesn't make you immune to an elbow in the ribs. (3) None of the Aiel wield swords. We've seen some allusions to this, but this is the first time we've had a chance to see them react to Rand having one: they're horrified. Why? Do you think we'll find out, and if so, how long might it take? (4) Nice to see some of the weird gender assumptions questioned in the text sometimes, isn't it?

This is going under cut because it gets a bit long, but we're going to try and split it into a 2-step approach.

PART 1 - Checking Vortex (+ using SKSE)

Now I'm unsure which mods you have but most of them nowadays require SKSE64 and won't work if you launch from the steam launcher. In general, even if you don't run SKSE based mods, it's usually better to run straight from SKSE.

Vortex should have the option to install SKSE for you automatically and there should be a button for it in the mini-UI on the top of the app screen here. (Usually has a star icon over it by default)

In case you don't have it/it didn't install, this video explains it rather well! Setting up SKSE in Vortex. The Nexus mods channel also has a small playlist on using Vortex in general I highly recommend watching when you get the chance, just in case I skip over something important. (Playlist here)

Now, going back to the screenshot, you can see the mods I have got a green button next to them saying "Enabled." This means they were completely installed and turned on to function in my game. If you have mods installed, but not enabled, it will show a grey button with the word disabled on it, like so

The fix for this is to just click the arrow key next to it and choose the enable option. The button should turn green, and you just need to wait for Vortex to deploy your mods.

If not installed, the button will be blue with the words "Uninstalled" (if you had said mod installed previously) or "Never Installed," again, the fix would be to just click on the button and vortex should auto-install it. It may take a bit, depending on your computer, but try not to click the button multiple times - as Vortex will think you want to have several installations of the same mod.

That being said, Vortex can be a bit weird at times. While your mods may say enabled in the mods tab, always double check the plugins tab! 'Cus sometimes the plugins just won't enable, not sure the reasoning for this yet.

In my case, all my plugins are up and running, but if the buttons were greyed out like with disabled mods, you just click them to turn them back green and let Vortex deploy. If you have a lot of mods, use the status box on the top of the plugin menu and click the "Disabled" filter to check for any plugins that might've slipped under the radar.

PART 2 - Do you have the right versions of your mods?

Sometimes mods not running could also be just as simple as you're using the wrong version of it. This is often the case now due to all the updates Skyrim SE had recently. Best way to approach this is to check the installed version of your game and compare it to the versions/info available on the mod pages for the mods you installed

For example, according to Vortex, I have the most recent update of Skyrim: 1.6.640.0. This is going to be the most recent version available for purchase on steam iirc - regardless of if you buy SE or get the full AE package.

There are mods that have not updated to this version or may have separate files to accommodate. Examples for the latter being Experience (which now has a NG file, which allows it to work for all versions - but you can see in the archived files there were versions for Skyrim 1.5x and 1.6.353)

If you go to the mods tab in Vortex and right click over the name of one of your mods, a little list should pop up with the option to open on Nexus Mods at the last slot. Use this to quickly hop over to the mod page and double check if it's compatible with your version of Skyrim, as well as check if it has any requirements you may be missing - since that can cause mods not to work as well. If not stated in the mod file descriptions, be sure check the changelogs, mod summary, and comment/posts section for more information.

Also be sure that the url states "nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition" as well! If it just has "/skyrim" in the url after the domain, you're in the mod collection for LE - meaning there's a good chance a lot of stuff there might not work. This is actually something I dealt with a lot when I first started modding my game lol.

That's all I can think of that could (hopefully) help out with the modding issues! Please let me know if I was unclear about something, I tend to word things a bit weird at times.

Is the overall trimming functions of Premiere Pro CS6 better than Media Composer? No. If you’re going to steal, then steal from the best. It’s obvious the Adobe product designers looked very closely at Avid Media Composer when designing these new trim tools. I never realized that the ever-so-brief pause that happens when trimming with the Media Composer Smart Tool (which lets it enter trim mode) can seem like an eternity when compared to Premiere Pro CS6’s “smart tool.” Premiere Pro CS6 doesn’t have a smart tool, per se, but the mouse cursor will change to different trim tools depending on where it is in the timeline, just like Avid’s Smart Tool. Trimming can be achieved by realtime JKL playback and edits adjusted all while playback continues.Īvid editors might miss slip-and-slide dynamic trimming but they’ll enjoy the instant response here when working with the mouse and trimming in the timeline. Premiere Pro CS6 has attempted to bridge the best of both worlds by keeping mouse-based, tool-based timeline trimming fast and easy while also letting users set up rather complex ripple and roll trims. Final Cut Pro (7 and earlier) editors know clicking and dragging to trim in the timeline. You can see how clean and uncluttered the interface can be.īeing able to achieve detailed, dynamic trimming operations in the NLE timeline is something that Avid editors know well. This view isn’t the default interface but it shows the Program monitor with all the buttons and info turned off. And you really don’t need those buttons, since you can map them all to the keyboard. Best of all, you can turn off the buttons all together for an even cleaner look. You can now customize what buttons are there and tailor a second row of them if you're so inclined. The useless jog/shuttle wheel and scrubber bar has also been axed. All the wasted space around the Source and Program monitors has been removed. Gone is the button clutter of the Premieres of yore. I put media management as priority number one to be addressed in the next version of PPro. That’s not a huge deal if all your media resides in one or two directories, but since PPro offers no real assistance, other than giving you a file name to look for, it can be a real pain if your media is scattered or your mulitcamera shoot has cams generating the same file name.

Reconnection options are pretty much point the offline file to the original. Moving footage around or having a different drive name (or anything that alters that original path) results in media offline. The way it works is it pretty much just looks at a directory path that points to a clip. Media management in CS6 is still pretty much the same as it has always been and that’s a shame. Tight integration is also a huge selling point for the Production Premium, which includes After Effects, Photoshop Extended, Audition, SpeedGrade and much more. If you need to get your PPro sequence to DVD, then just import that sequence right into Adobe Encore. Select some clips in a Premiere Pro CS6 timeline, Dynamic Link them to After Effects and you have a new clip in the PPro timeline that updates as the AE project is tweaked. As you may recall, Mercury originally only harnessed the power of NVIDIA’s CUDA technology to offer up some unprecedented realtime playback.ĭynamic Linking is Adobe’s way of easily interchanging media and materials between different applications in the Adobe suite. Native file support is still very strong in version 6 and the Mercury Engine has been retooled to work with some other non-NVIDIA CUDA video cards. This new version is a very nice upgrade that makes some significant improvements over the last version in several key areas. People are still talking about Premiere Pro CS6, which I'll focus on for this review. The entire Adobe Creative Suite has also had impressive upgrades, which will be good news to Adobe fans that are getting used to using a number of Adobe applications that complement and interact with each other.

My 2017 Most Hated and Favorite Dramas

2017 wasn’t the best drama year for me at the beginning. After Goblin finished, every drama was just not doing it for me. In February, I decided to take a break from dramas and I didn’t watch a single drama (not any Asian drama period), for two months, but I can’t help myself and  I finally went back to dramaland and for this year my tally is:

The Dramas I Hated

This show started off with an interesting premise. Bunch of people stranded on an island. There should be mystery and intrigue, people possibly killing each other or whatever. It started off petty well.  The show did have mystery and intrigue, but it didn’t really deliver.  The show started going downhill after a certain point and I honestly don’t even remember what it was that made this show go downhill, I just remember that it did, and I stopped enjoying anything that happened. I do remember the character’s seeming pretty dumb when it came to handling the villain and don’t even get me started on the villain or that wtf ending.

The Liar and His Lover

I only watched this because a lot of people said it was better than it looked. It really wasn’t. The acting wasn’t good, the story wasn’t all that great and I could bring myself to care about any of the characters problems.I did like that almost kiss in the phone booth though. It was incredibly sexy. it’s a shame this was a different drama where that kind of chemistry could have continued.

Suspicious Partner

I can’t believe I actually watched this entire show. The only thing I liked about it was that Breathing Your Love song. I watched this from beginning to end and every episode was so painfully boring. There were a few minutes where I was interested, but then ultimately I got bored again. If I had been watching this on my own, I probably wouldn’t have watched past the first few episodes.

Hit the Top/The Best Hit

As much as I loved Enrique from Flower Boy Next Door, I could not get myself to like Hyun Jae, even though he was a similar character. He was far too childish and annoying to me. I’m one of those people who just couldn’t get past Hyun Jae and Woo Seung together. When Hyun Jae went to the future and found out Ji Hoon was his son, all I wanted was for the show to play with that and forge some type of bond between Ji Hoon and Hyun Jae, but nooo, show instead wants to focus on the love story between father and his son’ s crush. I couldn’t root for Hyun Jae at all. Sure Ji Hoon technically wasn’t his son, but he didn’t know that at first and still never tried to form a relationship with him. And to make things worse, once the show really started focusing on the romance, everything else was pushed to the side. I wanted to see Ji Hoon rap again and see a little more of his path with Drill trying to make it in the industry. I wanted to see where Woo Seung was planning on taking her career. Grandpa and Mal Sook were the best part of this show and they were ditched at the end too.

Reunited Worlds

I love Yeo Jin Goo and I love noona romances, so of course I was going to watch this show. It wasn’t good unfortunately. Aside from it not being all that engaging, the show just didn’t work. The acting was off (even Jin Goo’s acting wasn’t his best),  the chemistry was off, and every time the three leads were on screen together, whether it was Hae Sung and Jung Won, Jung Won and Min Joon, Min Joon and Hae Sung, or all three of them together, I always felt this awkward vibe between them. The age gap between Lee Yeon Hee,  Ahn Jae Hyun, Yeo Jin Goo was far too noticable. Jin Goo is a teenager and was a teenager in the show and you could feel the gap between them when they shared scenes. There was always just this offness between them as if none of them were particularly comfortable in playing these roles opposite each other where they were all supposed to be on the same level, but clearly weren’t.

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon

Supposedly one of the best dramas of the year, but it’s sexist, homophobic, offensive for multiple other reasons, and just plain boring.

Favorites

The Boy Next Door/Some Guy

From the studio that brought us Lily Fever comes The Boy Next Door. I wasn’t going to watch this because I really ain’t here for the queerbait at this point, but I caved and watched it anyway, because I’ll take a good bromance since it’s as close to the gay as I’m gonna get. It was a funny, short, and a fairly enjoyable web drama.

Fight My Way

I loved this slice of life drama. Loved the characters and that there were two couple here going through two different stages in their relationships. It was funny and relatable in multiple aspects. There were a few missteps in the show ( Dong Man and Ae Ra’s skirt, Ae Ra’s father beating Dong Man which was clearly supposed to be funny, and I could have really used a little more plot about Ae Ra and her career). It wasn’t the best drama I’ve ever seen, but it was warm and comfortable. A very pleasant show to watch and that’s a good thing. Seol Hee was a stand out character for me.

The Guardians/Lookout

Badass female lead, a great antihero, Kim Seul Gi, Key, hottie priest, and a good ost wrapped up in one show? What’s not to like? Sure the characters did a few illogical things throughout the show, but I enjoyed the ride. Kim Young Kwang really proved himself here.

Because this is Our First Life

When I first heard about this show, I didn’t particularly think it was going to be good. Then I heard a million good things about it, so of course I had to check it out. Six episodes in, and I was not impressed. It was okay, watchable, but nothing to write home about. I watched more anyway, and then I don’t know what happened, but it really started clicking for me. The show was funny and honest with interesting conversations and interesting characters, and just when I thought something would be extremely cliche,  things would go in a different direction. I didn’t particularly care about Wo Rang and Ho Seok and I didn’t really like the last episodes arc with Ji Ho leaving and not telling Se Hee of her obvious plans to return, but overall this was definitely one of the best dramas of the year.

Go Back Couple

This drama wasn’t even remotely on my radar. The plot didn’t sound all that intriguing on paper, but I needed something to watch one day, and this was one of the new shows that had aired. I swear people completely slept on this show. I can’t even particularly remember why I loved it so much, but it was funny and cute. I loved Jin Joo and her group of friends, the likable love rivals, the gender role reversal in the second couple (also a likable aspect in BTLIOF), and of course the emotional highs and lows involving Jin Joo and her mother and of course Seo Jin. I wasn’t fond of Ban Do at the beginning, but I knew the show was going to show us his turn around and show us that he was actually worthy of Jin Joo and they didn’t disappoint. Jang Na Ra was also really good in this role. I knew she was a good actor, but she never really impressed me before, but her scenes were so good here I had to put her on my favorite actors list. This one was my favorite drama of the year.

Honorable Mentions (These shows aren’t over yet, but they deserve to be on my favorites list..for now.)

Wise Prison Life/ Prison Playbook

Another show where I can’t really pinpoint why I like it so much. It’s slow and the episode run time is ridiculous, but it’s so good. I’m not up to date with this solely because I don’t want to run out of subbed episodes to watch. It’s great watching Je Hyuk navigate prison life and I love that we get the other prisoners stories. The show really helps to humanize them all and show that everyone may not be exactly what they seem at first. I really hope this show stays good as it continues into the next year.

Money Flower

Another show I think isn’t getting as much credit as it deserves. I really wasn’t going to watch this because it sounded like your typical cliche revenge melo. It’s definitely makjang and melo, but that’s never a bad thing when it’s done right, and this one’s done right. The characters are intriguing and morally corrupt, even the main lead Pil Joo is slightly gray. The relationships between the characters are interesting too. Pil Joo and Boo Cheon seem to have this type of love-hate relationship, where Pil Joo’s love may or may not be fake. I love the sexual tension between Pil Joo and Mal Ran where Mal Ran seems to be attracted to Pil Joo even though she clearly doesn’t trust him completely, and Pil Joo certainly uses that attraction to his advantage.  I’d really love to see this twisted relationship play out. Can I have another drama based on this relationship please? Mo Hyun wasn’t that interesting of character at the start. She seemed like more of a love interest and a pawn in this game more than anything else, but given the most recent episodes, she’s stepping up to the plate, and I’m really excited to where this is going.

120 Nancy Drew Questions Ask

7. Do you read Nancy Drew FanFiction?

Not all that often. I’ve written a little bit myself, I had this whole Hunger Games AU fic planned out at one point, but I don’t really read much beyond short drabbles. I remember going through the FanFiction.net archive as far back as, say, 2007/8ish, but all they really had were AEs that I wasn’t really interested in. Since I joined the Clue Crew fandom here, I’ve read a bit more, but most of the fics focus on romance, which, again, isn’t all that big a draw for me, especially in ND where I don’t have many ships I’m passionate about.

Though I have read some good things. now that I think about it. One of my close online friends who unfortunately deactivated here (erroneous-luka) had some great oneshots, and just last summer I read and faved a really good Katie/Jenna fic on A03. I tend to prefer fics about side characters (those who only appear in one game) than those about the main gang. 

12. What’s your favorite Nancy Drew book series? Why?

I mean … I guess the originals? Like the yellow-back ones from the 50s (which I’m aware aren’t the *originals* but I’ve never actually read those). I admit, they’re not really that well-written, and the stereotypes found in them can be really off-putting. I’m more attached to them for the nostalgia value than anything else, to be honest. But on the other hand, I haven’t read that many of the newer books, just a couple here and there that the games are based off of, like Message in a Haunted Mansion, Secret of the Scarlet Hand, and Treasure in the Royal Tower. 

45. Who’s your least favorite character in Danger on Deception Island?

Lol for some reason I just … felt like I was going to get this question? I remember scrolling through the list and thinking “I bet I’m going to get least favorite DDI character, for some reason.” Maybe it’s because I reblog a lot of DDI stuff, idk. (To be fair it’s one of my favorite games.)

Mmmm well I guess I should say Andy since he’s the villain, but you know what? I find him kind of entertaining. “Whales rule” and all that. So I’m going to go with Holt. I saw a post a little while ago like “he probably voted for Trump” and you know what? I can’t argue with that. He just seems like the kind of person who’d sit around and grumble about millennials and how much better things were in “the good old days” and how smartphones and selfies are ruining society. Plus, having Nancy arrested for bringing him the wrong gender of crab, when he specifically made her go get one? Seriously? 

78. Who’s your favorite character in Tomb of the Lost Queen? Why?

Hmm well I haven’t actually played it, per se, just watched my mom play it here and there. But I guess Jamilia seems pretty cool. It’s great that HER put in a Muslim woman who wears a hijab (at least I think that’s what it is, correct me if it’s the wrong term) and not only isn’t the villain, but is smart, educated, and independent. I only know vaguely about her backstory with this … secret order of women protecting the tomb, or something? but that seems cool. Plus, I really like the name Jamilia. So I’m going with her. 

111. Are you upset with Her Interactive for taking longer on this game than the other ones?

Ohhh boy, the inevitable MID question. I mean, like … I’ve largely tried to stay out of it but at this point I don’t even know what to feel anymore. But I’ll try to sum it up (without stepping on too many toes). And this is reaally reaallly long so feel free to skip it lol.

I’m not really all that displeased on a personal level because I still have so many games to catch up on (TMB, SPY, MED, LIE, SEA) and I get pretty much endless fun out of replaying the previous games, so if MID was potentially to never come out and we were never to get any more Nancy Drew games…? It would suck, yes. It’d be sad, in an ‘end of an era’ sort of way. But I’d be all right. Everything has to come to an end, and we’ve had a really good run. 1998-2015, for a female-led point-and-click PC game series? That’s pretty impressive. 

And, to be honest, I went through a low period back in the early 2010s when I thought I was never going to be able to play a lot of my Nancy Drews again because they wouldn’t work on more modern computers - but now that I know you can buy them on Steam and that there are ways of making older games work on modern computers and such, I know that I don’t have to worry about losing them anymore. As long as I can hold on to the ones I already have, I’ll be fine. There’s a question I’ve heard posed that’s like “If you had to choose between losing all your old memories and never being able to make new ones, what would you do?” and personally I’d definitely go with keeping all my old memories. That’s just who I am.

BUT - this is a big but - that’s all 100% personal. As in, if I was the only person in the Clue Crew, that’s how I’d look at the situation. But I know it’s not all just about me - I know there are lots of fans out there, be they young kids just getting into the series or veteran fans longing for more, who will be massively disappointed, even heartbroken, if MID does not come out. So that’s where my feelings of discontentment come into play, not necessarily for myself, but for the fandom in general. When I entered the Clue Crew in 2014, it was vibrant and thriving and I was amazed to find so many like-minded people who weren’t homeschooled 13-year-olds on the HER Boards. Now … the fandom’s really suffering, and we all know that. A lot of really popular blogs have shut down or just aren’t posting anymore. There’s been a lull in content because, really, how many new jokes or insightful posts can be made when there hasn’t been new content in 2 years? It’s saddening to see that happen, because even with the drama that has sometimes occurred, I really do love the Clue Crew. 

But here’s the thing - I don’t really want to lay the blame at anyone’s feet. I just don’t feel I’m educated enough on the situation to start pointing fingers. I know HER putting all their money/advertising towards new projects and constantly brushing off any questions about MID is annoying, but I don’t feel  can criticize them, because I don’t know the first thing about making video games or running a company. I’m embarrassed by their painful attempts to capture an older demographic by posting forced unfunny memes on their Facebook page, but at the same time … isn’t that sort of inevitable when a company run by adults attempts to appeal to teenagers? I mean, just look at the Denny’s Tumblr. And haven’t Clue Crew members been wanting HER Interactive to reach out to the young adult internet fandom and its style of humor forever? I know that the result has been underwhelming, to say the least, but, I don’t know … I’m having a hard time being mad.

And the same goes for the fandom. I’ve gotten kind of tired of the constant bitterness and negativity towards HER; I hate seeing people harass and annoy HER employees on Facebook or whatever; and even trolling the HER forums with jokes about Big Island Mike, Communism, Satanic subliminal messages, etc. was never really that funny to me in the first place (esp. because, like … the kids on these forums are super sheltered people who probably have super overprotective parents and I honestly wouldn’t have a hard time believing that if their parents see this kind of shit going down and misunderstand the context [as parents are wont to do] they might not let the kids go on the HER boards anymore.) BUT, I can see where all this stuff is coming from - a feeling of boredom, frustration, and betrayal. And I get that. So I can’t really judge any of that too harshly, either. 

I guess I’d say that in general, I’m not bothered about MID on a daily level, though when the time eventually comes that I finish all the Nancy Drews, that might very well change. But it’s when I interact with the fandom, see how stagnant it’s become, and see how hurt the longtime fans of this company are, then it starts to work me up a little more. Still, I can’t really manage anger … only disappointment.

Fuck, the other Bad Endings in this DLC have been really hard for me. I can’t even talk about that BE2 in this. It triggered me that badly. Anyways, this is all about turning against Saeran’s desires. 

A lot of people don’t know what happens in BE3 because they can’t get it. You also can’t get this ending if you have too many hearts in the wrong place, no matter if you go and click the right options with Rika. That’s why it’s hard, it’s not clicking the wrong dialogue prompts, it’s too many hearts and then WHAM.

So, if you’re aiming for BEs or SEs or BREs, you’re going to need to pay close mind to what you’re doing.

It’s my weakness and God help me, I will not break him like Rika wants to break him. Start agreeing with Rika. Say that you need to stay, say that you need to go and keep an eye on them. Say that you’re going to slip up and reveal things. If you go out of your way, you’ll see the options where you can throw Saeyoung and Saeran under the bus.

I say them on my first playthrough and that’s how I knew there was another BE3 and I knew it was going to be twenty times worse. 

Saeran... leans on us and has given his heart to us, he would die for us, he would suffer for us, and even with the idea in mind that he wants to be selfish and stay with you, he will die if he has to die and he will suffer if he has to suffer. For your smile, for your happiness? He would give up everything he’s ever had... even the freedom that he fought so hard to claim. 

And, your goal in this AE is to agree with Rika and V: Keep the twins safe no matter what that means. Even if that means selling their souls, drugging them, or agreeing with the Agency and Saejoong Choi. There’s no other hope, so that’s the hole that you jump into to “save” Saeran and Saeyoung. You side with the bullshit that V and Rika have stuck themselves into. 

More or less, in this ending, you team up with the Selfish Wish duo. That means that you turn against everything Saeran wants and tell him that he needs to stay with you and that even if he’s suffering, as long as he’s with you, this is what will make you happy, and he wants you to be happy. If you let him think there is no hope and without Vanderwood, there really is seemingly no hope. 

So, he just kind of cracks underneath all of this pressure.

You’re not helping him.

You’re hurting him. 

That’s why this is so hard. 

You know how you become a Queen of Darkness at Rika’s side if the BE3 as Saeran becomes the puppet king who will be blamed for everything if anything were to go wrong? How he suffers numbly in the wayside, speaking things he does not believe just to make you happy in “paradise”? That’s what happens in this ending. Saeran suffering for your “selfish happiness” and well, to put it plain and simple—

Instead of a marionette king for paradise? 

You and Rika are using him as a media puppet for Saejoong. I couldn’t believe that they go with musical actor in this ending, but yeah, that’s more or less what happens here. You’re using Saeran again. He’s suffering for you. He’s a puppet on a grand stage to convince the world of the lies that everyone is spreading. It’s obvious that the RFA will crumble and crack and break away because of both the Agency and Saejoong. It’s only a matter of time. 

Oh, and don’t even worry about Saeyoung! He’s too exhausted and out of his mind these days. You don’t even have to worry about his happiness or what he’s dealing with! He can’t even feel pain anymore! 

But, you’re happy... aren’t you?

You’re happy... the boys are safe? 

You’re living within Rika’s selfish wish for a dollhouse where everything exists for her own pleasure and comfort in her constant denial of wrongdoing and of all of reality around you. But, is there any other hope? Was there any other hope for the brothers? Was there? 

Did you even try? 

Or, did you just take what you had decided was the only path forward because you never believed in him in the first place? 

Is it different from Savior Saeran? My, my, yes it is. However, it’s worse.... it’s so much worse because Saeran was able to get away only to be pulled back into all of this hell that he ran away from by the person that he most loved and trusted to be by his side and see him through to the end of his life living freely and happily from torment. 

You let him taste everything this world could be... and then you broke him cause you didn’t believe in him. You only and simply believed in your desires and in Rika’s promise and deal with Saejoong. And really, that’s why this is so horrible to me. You saw what Rika did in the Route, and you left with Saeran, only to turn back and agree with her knowing how Saeran feels. 

And honestly, what a fucking monstrous thing to do. 

That’s why I can’t subject myself to playing this ending even though I know what happens and how it plays out. So, this is what happens. You quite literally break him for Rika and work with her and Saeran bows his head, allowing it all to start over and happen to him. 

And if you want the symbolism here, there’s a Black Rose on his collar and you know what that means? Hatred, Despair, and Death are the most common picks for the meaning of a Black Rose. 

Some even say that it can be obsessive love, or used for sorrow. No matter how you look at it, Saeran is hollow, he is numb, he is broken, and dead inside. He’s cracked, he’s broken, he’s a withering rose that the only thing left of the man that we once saw bloom brightly in the season of our promise. 

What a broken man this is... and really, you and Rika are the ones to blame in this ending. 

What I hate the most is that I fucking love his hair styled like this but I hate everything else that’s happening here.

It was only a matter of time, he’s lucky to be alive but he doesn’t see it that way, even as he’s healing. 

If you’ve played through the SE, you can get a better idea of who he is as a person. He’s lost, tired, and overwhelmed. He was never given a choice in his life because everyone decided for him. Saeyoung, V, and Rika. They picked for him, and even at the end, he’s sitting here with Saeyoung, not by choice, cause he was spiraling downward in the hospital like a caged animal due to the fact that he was forced into recovery. 

Recovery isn’t easy but you have to be willing to help yourself and fight, and at that moment, he wasn’t ready to do that. That’s why he lashed out to protect who he is and who he was. You see the same thing in Suit Saeran, where they spend a lot of time trying to be hardened to protect themselves from being vulnerable and it affects all of their actions. it’s just that Unknown is more stable in his anger compared to Suit Saeran. 

He’s more willing to do horrible things without a second thought, I gesture to all of the things that Unknown is capable of because he’s lost himself to his rage and revenge thanks to the actions of Rika’s manipulation and Saeran being so lost in this fit of confusion and gaslighting and more. It’s a mess, he is a mess, and he knows that. Unknown lashes out because he’s angry, because he wants to make everyone suffer like he suffers, and because he doesn’t know what else he has to do.

Rika has given him a purpose. 

It’s his only purpose. 

And, when she flat says that she wants to throw him away and replace him with his brother, he breaks down because she was supposed to be the one that... the one that loved him and stood by him. She abandoned him, too. Everyone left him and he’s good for nothing. That’s why he crumbles and cracks and it takes a lot of time for Saeyoung to get through to him. Saeyoung has to fight like hell to get Saeran to try to help himself. 

It’s not easy. 

SE Saeran is often made out to be angry, petty, and sullen. It’s not wrong, but he isn’t inherently vindictive. He’s dry and he’s not going to deal with shit. He’s just not a sardonic asshole like most of the fanon makes him out to be. But, folks had to build on the SE and Seven’s AE to get his personality and he was just overly skewed to be a bastard man, even when he’s in recovery and trying to find out who he is. 

He hits a wall and almost gives up until something Saeyoung says gets through to him. It clicks, and he just... decides to stop fighting. He knows that Saeyoung won’t let him die, and he’s got nothing else to do. So, he just gives up. You can see it in the one photo we have of him. He’s tired, holding himself away from the others. He’s depressed but... he’s trying. He doesn’t know why he’s trying to get by but he’s trying. 

If he gets to make one choice, it’s that he’s going to decide when he tries to start over again. His personality can be dry and exasperated because he’s not big on high energy and going out of his way to do things. He’s just someone that likes to be alone and prefers his quiet time. He’s not isolating himself but he just really cannot talk to his brother’s friends. It feels like pity. He can’t talk to Yoosung or Jumin because of their ties to... you know. 

Jaehee and Zen are okay, but he doesn’t really mesh with the latter most of the time. He’s just... lonely. If you prompt him, he can have some witty comebacks in comparison to anything that Saeyoung says, but he’s not going to be a fucking dick about things. I hate seeing when he’s written like that. Yes, he’s got a dry sense of humor, but that doesn’t mean he wants to utterly beat someone’s ass or anything. 

He just wants to... he doesn't know what he wants. 

He’s plagued by trauma and flashbacks. He’s prone to fits of rage, but he’s trying to help himself. It’s not easy. I think what they have in common no matter what point in their lives they’re living, is this notion that they’re frustrated and tired of being trapped. Saeran is not technically trapped in this bunker but he feels like he’s got nothing else for him, and Unknown isn’t... “technically” trapped in Mint Eye since he willfully does so many things at that point, but there was nothing else for him.

He just kind of accepts that this is all he can have. It’s a bit depressing but hey, he’s trying to make do with what he has. It’s confusing, but... he’s doing what he can. So, he’s rather blunt and quick with people. He doesn’t expend his energy unless it’s something that he actually wants to deal with, which isn’t very often in this life.

Jumin's and Saeran's friendship in Ray's route is one of the reasons why I prefer Ray's route Saeran over SE Saeran. its easy to tell how much Saeran looks up to Jumin so seeing them get along so well is so heartwarming. Do you have any hcs for their friendship after Ray's GE? how do u think saeyoung feels over it? thats one of the biggest regrets i have that saeyoung disappears beforr saeran appears in the chat with the rfa. do you think saeyoung ever read the chats after his disappearance? i really want him to be happy that everyone was worried about him (tho that sounds a bit weird) . god i really want Saeran's AE yesterday.

I've definitely talked about in some of my long analyses before that there's a reason why SE Saeran and GE Saeran differ. One of them got to willingly choose recovery and the other one had it forced upon him. That plays such a huge role into why Saeran has a relationship with the RFA or he doesn't. SE Saeran can't be around two of the members. Jumin and Yoosung, and that's not their fault it's just their proximity to the triggers in his trauma. Whereas GE Saeran didn't suffer for two more years and got to get to know all of the members sooner.

The RFA is assuredly a family and I don't want to play favorites but Saeran's Route is my definite favorite in terms of how things are fixed. Things are revealed with the Choi's father and Mint Eye and that's great. In SE, their dad is still out there and that's a fucking real threat. Those boy may be free but they aren't truly free and I hate that so much. In terms of the RFA here, it feels like they all get to come together and depend on one another because they're a found family. I love how they don't hesitate to take in Saeran and help him.

Jumin and Saeran get along so well because they're both methodical and straight forward. They aren't the types to beat around the bush, and even Jumin tells him that he appreciates that trait. Jaehee even comments that he's easier to work with because he's so blunt. I want them to bond over cooking and baking because that's a shared interest of theirs. Can you imagine both of them sharing recipes in the kitchen? Just two dudes talking about parfait. What more could you ever want in your life? I feel like they just click in a lot of ways that most people don't even think about.

Knitting. I want them to bound over sewing and knitting. I want to see these fucking guys make sweaters without shame. They can just hang out and work together in silence and that's just a real nice thought for me. I know that they could have a deep discussion on different topics but I just say that because I want to see Jumin pick apart Saeran's brain on flowers and see why things mean the way they do and how to do care for certain types in here. Symbolism. Maintenance. Herbology.

I have a lot of thoughts and too much on my mind to be able to write it here.

Now, I don't know if Saeyoung ever considered the idea that Saeran could be with everyone. He had no idea idea if his brother was like apart from the fact that he was supposed to be happy. He'd no way to gauge if Saeran would even have fun with the RFA. But. I know he had to think about it now and again... a fantasy to him. Maybe, just seeing the party where he and Saeran can just eat whatever treats they want and have fun for once instead of fearing for their lives. I don't know how he's going to react when he's told what has happened.

How the Prime Minister is defeated. How Saeran is safe and living with a partner and friends with the RFA. How they all came together to save him and they're all... they're great. It's going to be a lot and he's going to fucking cry. He will definitely be overwhelmed and he'll need to rest if he's injured or tired. When he's alone and after he has time to just think. He's going to look at where all the real answers are and that is the chatroom. He just sits there and reads it from the day he went missing and slowly discovers and watches as his brother makes friends and people believe in him and he's so awkward and stiff but he seems so in love and happy.

Saeyoung will have to choke back his own sobs. He never thought he would live to see what Saeran's life would be. Yet, here it is, and he is a part of it and Saeran wants him there. Not only does he have Saeran but everyone in the RFA. They all spoke about him like they saw him as family and he knew he saw them as a family but he never thought for sure that they did the same way.

God.

It's too much.

Saeyoung will get to live to see all of this and it will leave him speechless. I want him to see how happy his brother is and how happy he can be in the future too.

Kait Reacts To The AE 7/?

Hi! These reactions are written out every time a Chatroom opens and it’s done over the course of the day. So, you’re watching me react in real time as it is for me. So, Spoilers AHOY. It's time to deal with Rika again. I'm not at all in the mood. It's really no different than what she's been telling us thus far and honestly I don't really expect anything to change on her front or anything with V. They are both made it pointedly clear to me how they feel about the situation and I don't think that there's any reasoning with them so it's just a matter of trying to hang on the until the RFA rescue us. We don't know exactly what's going on per se but we don't know for a reason and I'm not upset about that because they're trying to take precautionary measures. They're doing everything that they can and I trust them with my heart.

Basically, she calls them weak in this chat room and says that they did the right thing by bowing their heads in accepting that. This is really no different than the strong and the weak argument and symbolism that we used to have at Magenta where she would make it clear that the strong only those that would stomp before stop being stomped on. Trample before they are trampled to the ground.

She wants be live in this falsehood and deny reality and everything that's going on because she can, due to the deal they made, herself and V, and honestly, I don't to expend my energy on this woman. She's wrong. You can tell her that over and over in this chatroom and it will just not dare end. She just won't quit. It's always about what Rika wants and what Rika gets. It's never about anyone else. She is selfish and shallow to the core.

There's no fixing this because she refuses to change. She needs to go down with the Agency and Saejoong, and at this point, V, too. Get the two of them back into counciling while they're in jail because that's the only thing I can see in their future because it sure as hell isn't forgiveness and I won't assume it will be. She can say whatever she wants and lie all day, but we all know Rika, at her core, is deeply saturated in her anger and maladies. She cares not. She is quite literally just doing what she did as Savior but denying that it's the same.

Saeyoung is drugged and out of his mind right now, passed out, and Saeran is desperately trying to stop all of this and all you can think about is your selfish wish to have a decency on a false family you're building. I am hardly listening to this woman. I'm disconnected and literally just letting her prattle until I can tell her she's in the wrong over and over again.

OH BOY. THE VISUAL NOVEL IS A GODDAMN DOOZY. Jumin is speaking to his father and he opens up about what’s on his mind. The talk about Seven and the deal that they made. Chairman Han thought that... Saeyoung was a very good person from speaking to him and that the deal is made because he wanted to repay Jumin without... you know, doing it directly because Jumin would never accept something like that. Saeyoung is a stubborn man and we all know that, it is always sweet to know the lengths that he would go to for his friends that don’t just talk about... 

compassion. 

Little things like this, I don’t know, I have a lot off faith in him and I’m torn for Jumin be cause he’s spiraling. Even his father can see that Jumin is holding his sturdy mask on his face as he’s crumbling inside, and Chairman Han tells him that no matter what happens, he will be able to move on, and he should try to do so with his loss... Jumin’s mother is mentioned, and how he should keep moving from that, and I don’t quite get the context but I’ve heard there’s more on that in his BE but I’ll never know until I bother to look at the spoilers. 

Either way, Jumin starts crumbling and he cannot drink. He knows that he cannot lose his clarity. He’s envious of Saeran, who seems to be fueled by his emotions and ready to act. He wishes that he could do such a thing but it is so foreign to him. He thought he could trust V... Rika... but he can’t. He was stabbed in the back and now it hurts so much that he’s losing it. He wants to fix things but I don’t know if he can fix those relationships given what’s happened and I think he knows that. 

That’s why it hurts so fucking much.

I made an alarm. I’m awake. Saeran made a secure chat to talk to me and I.. I don’t know. I have dread in my heart that I’m heading towards a bad ending right now because of the way that he’s talking. I don’t know... there were CGs and it’s kind of right... right? Saeran won’t say anything because anything can get hacked right now and he won’t risk himself, the others, or us because of a loose text message on the background. What really scares me about this is the fact that he keeps saying over and over that no matter matter—

He will protect our happiness. As in, my happiness, and it feels like it’s written in such a way that he wants to leave... wants to let me be free and that this may be our goodbye soon enough. I don’t want that. I don’t want him to get hurt. I’m just in a state of confusion and hurt over you Saeran. I want our true promise of happiness and I want our return of joy. He vowed every Four Seasons and I want to keep that promise with you and only you, my love. 

He tells me to have faith in him, in our love and that he will do anything he can to protect me. I believe in him. But, I don’t want to lose him. He knows that I want to be free with him. I stated that, but he won’t... he won’t tell me anything and I hate being in the dark while I’m trapped here with Saeyoung. I don’t know if he is trying to be careful to warn me or if this is fate. 

I don’t know.

I just don’t. 

He says that he’s coming... I don’t know if I’m ready. I don’t trust Rika, I don’t trust V, I don’t trust anyone in this fucking place and I wish that Saeyoung was awake but he’s still... knocked out, my God. What’s worse is that he shares that he has flight tickets. FLIGHT TICKETS. You know, like the passport merch that you can buy and that I did actually buy but won’t be here for a few weeks cause we all know how shipping works and it’s not going to give me answers right away but I think this has to be the right direction...? 

It does say “the travels you made with Saeran.”

But, he says that we should go with the RFA. 

It doesn’t outright include him when he’s talking to you. I don’t know what to think. Why would we leave the country? How are we fighting? Please, I don’t want you or Saeyoung to live in fear anymore... Saeran, please, do not force me to leave you behind. I know you want me to be happy but please, you need to be happy, too. 

This is bittersweet and hurting me and I can’t think about how this is going to play out right now. I hope they have a plan and I hope that plan is something that won’t involve more separation and sacrifice. 

The visual novel did not ease my heart but I was greeted with a very lovely CG of Saeran so maybe that makes up for it. I think it’s a dream sequence where we get to share a picnic with him... he playfully teases and jests with me about my eating habits and lets me know that he loves hearing my laugh. I ask if this is a dream but... Saeran is like, “Even if this is a dream... it doesn’t matter if it’s a dream. I’m so happy. I wish I could spend more time with you like this... I feel like I’m greedy.”

And I say, “We deserve to be happy.” 

Because I mean it. 

No beating myself up, nor he. We deserve to be happy. 

Saeran’s not helping me in the dream, “Sure, but... if the world does not want us to be happy... I hope we can continue that dream in heaven.” 

NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. Saeran please, even in my dreams, you cannot die and I refuse to die. You wouldn’t want that for me and I wouldn’t want that for you and why do I get the picnic that I wanted and was begging for. Why am I so always right about what could happen, but Cheritz has taken my hopes and used so many of my wishes to be angst or bittersweet and I—

Saeran, you’re not helping!

Okay, I’m still not okay. Saeran is here and we’re just waiting for him to make it past the agency and the narrative here is trying to warn me that if I’m not careful with what I do, Saeran is going to try to sacrifice himself for me. I don’t know his plan and he says that he’s going to tell me very soon. But, he keeps dodging it and saying that no matter if we are near or apart, our love will never change or stray from what it is. He’s never had more peace inside of his heart as he has come to this realization. He’s clearly conflicted about his past and the more that he thinks about Magenta—

The more it... he knows that it’s trauma. He knows that it’s a wound that will stay with him but. He also knows that he escaped that trauma and found himself, he says that he knows who he wants to be. He doesn’t want to hate anymore or be angry, even though it’s justified. Don’t get me wrong, he’s not saying that he will forgive anyone that hurt him, that’s not the tone. It’s just that he doesn’t want to be fueled by hate. 

This is what he believes is going to really help himself. He knows that he has peace knowing that he was wronged, but he choose to escape and to leave all that behind. He found himself, and he knows who he is now. I’m proud of him for that but I’m scared at the same time that he will suffer to ensure my safety. I do not want that. 

I think what bothers me the most is how Rika feels so entitled to the idea that she can just forget and avoid the past. She’s just so flippant. I don’t want to talk about it. No, ma’am, you don’t get that right. You hurt him. You hurt so many of these people that once thought of you well, and you don’t get the right to pretend you are holy or better. You don’t get to forget. You don’t get to pretend. We have to live with our trauma. 

Why should you get peace? 

Nope. Nu-uh. Not happening. 

However, Saeran notes in the chatroom that she’s... something wrong about Rika. She is frantic and confused, and he isn’t sure what to make of that. She will not talk about anything but her selfish wish that will only hurt all of us the way that she’s acting and the way that V is acting. I don’t really want waste my energy on what’s up with Rika because, we all know how I feel about Rika and she just keeps proving her bullshit to me time and time again. She’s in denial and she’s lost. I don’t really care. 

The visual novel is brief, we get to see him again. V and Rika are back on their bullshit but Saeran is relieved to see we aren’t harmed, Rika asks him to join her so there’s no funny business as she tries to decide when I’m supposed to leave this place now. I don’t know when they’re going to shove me away. I’m surprised they aren’t gonna kill me. That’s a lot easier. 

They leave me with V and V’s on my fucking shit-list right now. I cannot deal with him anymore. He tells me to understand Rika. I won’t. I refuse. He says it’s great that I can leave. He says to rest before I leave. He’s going to look over Saeyoung now. I wanna tell him to fuck off because at this point, he’s proven that I can’t trust him and he’s doing nothing to help. You resigned yourself to this sun, Icarus, you can burn all you want at this point, but you do not have the right to let us burn with you. 

I’m just worried about what Saeran is going to do. I talked to Jaehee on the phone and she said that Saeran kept saying goodbye, over and over, and she hopes that I stick close to him. It’s like he wants to leave behind everything to save us. I don’t know his plan and I don’t... I don’t know what I’m supposed to know right now and I still have two hours before I get to learn his plan, I guess, and I need to know now. 

Also, Jaehee said she’d use Judo to save me if she could. What a woman.

I called Saeran as well, and that was more... unease. I’m proud of him for standing tall against his abuser. He won’t let her sway him anymore and that’s the good thing I take from this call. This shit took me years to learn myself and he’s... figured it out much faster. I’m happy for him. He seems to be better in his spirits about this and he deserves that.

Saeran: I will take care of Rika and V until you’re out of here. I love you. This mission must not fail.
