Can we get headcanons on the farmer attempting to learn the languages of the non-human characters of the valley? Jio, Krobus, The Dwarf, and Malaya?
Yea :3
_________________________________________
Malaya:
Ah, the pouring rain... Malaya had been looking forward to this weather for weeks now, to walk to Ridge and feel the droplets falling on her shoulders and head from the sky.
So there it was - the loneliness, the forest and the chill drops falling on her skin. Malaya has this wonderful urge to dive headfirst into the nearest pond!
Before she could do anything, she noticed a figure coming out of Ridge Forest. Who on earth could that be coming out of such a dangerous place?
Ah, the Farmer! Malaya breathed a sigh of relief, for the young farmer was one of the few who knew her secret. The green-haired woman greeted them with a warm smile.
Farmer smiled back at her, and said something that made Malaya's eyes widen in surprise. It had been so long since she had heard her native language, the language of her parents and sisters... The mermaid language...
Farmer scratched the back of their head and wondered if Malaya understood them. They speak her language!?
Ah, just learning? Well, if Farmer was so interested in the language of mermaids, Malaya would gladly help them.
The memory of her mermaid speech was... not a pleasant one, for the last thing she had heard in her native tongue were the demands and threats of her greedy family. Now, Malaya can now converse in her language over other, more pleasant topics.
Her native speech is pretty easy for humans, so Farmer should have no trouble learning all the basics.
Dwarf:
Dwarf was not at all surprised when the Farmer, having first broken their way to them with their iron pickaxe, understood nothing of what Dwarf had told them. Not many humans know Dwarfish.
A pity, they were already starting to get a little bored in the Mines, without clients and company...
Time passed rather quickly for Dwarf in the Mines, so they didn't notice that a whole month had already passed.
And then the Farmer showed up again. Interesting...
And then, the Farmer addressed them in the Dwarf language! The language of their people!
Pretty amazing to learn their difficult language in a month! Well, the Farmer's accent is still kinda weird, and they carry a Dwarfish translator, from which they must have learned.
Nevertheless, amazing results!
Dwarf, in principle, already trusted them, a strange chaotic person with excellent mining skills.
So they will tell the Farmer about the history of their people, the great forges and the underground cities that were as lively as human metropolises.
At the same time, they will help the Farmer to improve their spoken Dwarfish, for their language is still not very polished.
Jio:
Jio thought he could meditate in peace and quiet, sitting cross-legged on the roof of Ninja house.
But the spirits had apparently decided that the elf had had enough peace for the day, and there was a noise from behind him that made his keen ears perk up.
In another situation, Jio would have already raised his weapon and pinned the stranger against the wall, questioning who they were and what they were doing here.
But he immediately sensed the familiar aura (and the peculiar odor of dirt, grass, and monster blood).
Whatever the Farmer wanted to tell him, he didn't have time. So without even turning around, Jio continued his meditation, hoping the Farmer would leave.
But when they greeted Jio, the elf nearly broke his neck when he abruptly turned to face Farmer.
What had they just said? It.. that was... Elven language. And of an old dialect spoken by his ancestors who lived even before humans.
How do they know that language? And is this really the Farmer standing in front of him?
In a rather rude form and threatening to pierce their shoulder with his katana (merciful Yoba, Jio, calm down...), the elf demanded an explanation.
It's unclear why the heck the young Farmer needed to learn a dead language, but Jio isn't about to waste his time on those and teach them how to properly speak the language of his people. And no, Farmer, he doesn't have to explain why. Now shoo, or he'll call Kiwi and tell her he's found a live knife-throwing target for her.
Krobus:
Krobus knows the language of humans perfectly well, so he had no difficulty in communicating with Farmer.
What was his surprise when Farmer addressed him not in human language, but in the language of the shadow people.
Krobus was also surprised that the Farmer had managed to find a translator somewhere. It's just that shadow people people don't keep any diaries or books. Hmmm, probably the notes of other adventurers....
Though Krobus admits - he only understood half of the sentence, for Farmer's knowledge of the shadow people's language still leaves much to be desired.
But if the Farmer is willing, Krobus is happy to help them hone their language. They have helped Krobus learn a lot about humans, and he would like to repay Farmer's kindness and patience.
Eventually, Krobus will even start telling the Farmer jokes in his language, the meaning of which cannot be translated into human language. It's pretty funny to watch when the Farmer didn't understand for half a minute what was so funny, and then they realized and laughed at the pun.
Krobus began to catch himself thinking that if at least one person did not wish him harm, was interested in the language of shadow people and behaved peacefully, then maybe in the future, shadow people and humanity will live together peacefully.

Summer (real world) birthday headcanons and how they would celebrate their special day
Jas - June 4th - picking wildflowers with Penny in the morning, drawing on coloring pages with some new crayons from Vincent (courtesy of Sam's Joja paycheck) in the afternoon and playing at the park together. Gunther organizes a special story time at the library (with the help of Elliott providing all the voices). Marnie doesn't cook so Jodi would bake a pink cake, but Marnie would probably would have bought a new doll for her. Jas finishes the day on Shane's shoulders feeding the chickens on the farm.
Gus - June 8th - this man deserves more love since he feeds the village! I could see the Farmer bringing fresh oranges from their orchard in a basket wrapped with a yellow ribbon. Emily cooks up a big batch of his favorite fish tacos, and drags Haley in to help serve (giving Gus the night off). Haley would drag Alex into it (at least to carry bags of ice and look hot doing it). Elliott might tinker on the piano. Leah would have a pint or two and pitch in also. Willy brings some tropical curry from Ginger Island for his buddy. The SAS trio attempt a song in his honor. Gus is happy to spend the evening in the Saloon with his friends and neighbors.
Maru - June 10th - A big breakfast with her family complete with fresh strawberries. Seb surfaces before 10 just in her honor. Maru is thrilled to spend the day with her dad in the lab and collecting specimens in the forest. Harvey gave her the day off, of course, and a little strawberry birthday card. She gets a rhubarb pie, courtesy of Evelyn or the farmer. She spends the late afternoon chatting on a park bench with her BFF, Penny, who gives her robot drawings from the Valley kiddos. Robin builds a wooden shelf for all of Maru's odds-and-ends gadgets. And stargazing with Sebastian (like they did as kids) is the perfect way to end the day.
Alex - June 13th - Evelyn would make a complete breakfast for her grandson, and a small gift that she knitted (maybe a cover for a water bottle or for his weights to keep them protected). With the help of Farmer, George ordered a gridball card online for his grandson. Tossing the ball down at the beach and a long ocean swim with Farmer, plus a picnic lunch. (I have this cute little headcanon that he would build sandcastles with Vincent and Sam). If Farmer is able to splurge, catching a gridball game together in the evening is his birthday present. And Alex is a very physical guy in my book, so plenty of hand holding, bear hugs, kisses all day long and then a dip at the hot springs in the evening (and maybe a sensual massage).
Sam - July 17th - A platter of maple bars for breakfast and maybe some early morning cloud gazing with his main squeeze (Farmer). And there's no way he wouldn't have a party. Pizza. Joja colas. Plenty of cheery hi-energy rock music. Streamers. Balloons. Arcade games. Party poppers. Confetti. Karaoke. Oh and he would buy something cheesy at Jojamart for party favors like rubber bracelets or silly string. And maybe for a final touch of whimsy, embracing his inner child, a pinata with tons of candy (much to Vincent's delight)! Abigail would play her woodland flute after one too many sugary drinks and candies and cakes. Seb might even step up to the mic for karaoke (but would sneak a smoke first for courage).
Dwarf - July 22 - Dwarf is just happy if someone makes the effort to visit them and remembers to bring a gift (preferably a shiny stone). Oh and they are touched if you speak their language. Fancy a spot of stardrop tea together? Cheers!
Demetrius - August 19 - this man doesn't strike me as someone who really likes celebrating his birthday. A nice quiet unwrapping of gifts at home (a gift card from Seb because he has no clue what to get his stepdad), and a good bean hotpot dinner is probably all he wants. Maybe sharing an ice cream cone with Robin and a private dance under the stars.
Willy - August 24 - Spend the day fishing together and enjoy a simple fish dinner on the beach by a fire and he's happy. Oh and mugs of mead shared while swapping sea stories.
Leo - August 26 - look for bird feathers and shells to decorate his treehouse. I picture playing tag on the beach with Jas and Vincent, probably Sam and Penny too. And some fresh mangos is a delicious treat! He would probably enjoy a tape of bird songs or a picture book about birds. I totally think Emily would do face painting for his birthday.

Some of stardew fandom seeing dwarf as this grumpy, mean character is strange to me. idk about you but they're literally just a zany outgoing creature who has no name and loves their lollipops and rock candy. you can steal their heart easily just by giving them that topaz you randomly dug up in floor 12. they eat like 6 meals a day made from the same key ingredient and always love it. they sell cute scarecrows to the farmer that look just like themself but in overalls. they have no taste in film or cinema and only watch movies for those colourful special effects. like yeah their entire race is dead and they steal from houses but they still welcome the human farmer and befriend them and happily attend their wedding

Which Non-Marriage Candidates (but giftable) are good at strategy games?
Note!! This is not me saying that certain ones are smarter than others, some people just aren鈥檛 good at strategy games and some are.
Good
Linus. I cannot explain it
Demitrius
Kent
Dwarf. Could be wrong because I don鈥檛 know much about him
Robin
Wizard. He doesn鈥檛 know how to play them at first since he mainly surrounds himself with magical stuff, but gets the hang of it quickly.
Average
Caroline
Clint
Gus
Jodi
Krobus
Lewis
George. It was hard to place him ngl, but I settled for here
Marnie
Sandy
Willy
Bad
Evelyn. It鈥檚 not that she isn鈥檛 good, it鈥檚 just that she鈥檇 let others win to make them feel better (especially if it鈥檚 a child, Alex, or George), and no one but her knows that so she鈥檚 been dubbed as bad. She鈥檚 actually really good.
Pam
Jas. Child, does not fully understand
Vincent. Child, does not fully understand. Also just cannot focus on it
Leo, pretty sure he was raised by birds. I think he鈥檇 try to eat the pieces (if there are any)
Pierre

If you became close friends with the dwarf and/or Krobus they were totally watching your wedding in secret and you can鈥檛 convince me otherwise 馃槫
They don鈥檛 really quite get human weddings, but they know it鈥檚 really important for you. Maybe theh even gave gifts to you that were important to their people.
#Fr tho I would love to see this feature in an update#i鈥檓 so glad ConcernedApe is still updating the game because I got into it hella late#sdv headcanon#sdv krobus#sdv krobus headcanon#sdv dwarf#sdv dwarf headcanon#stardew#stardew valley headcanons#stardew headcanon

Non-Marriage candidates headcannons P3
馃枻Krobus: Once you befriend him Krobus and the farmer take walks together at night/ Strangely, he can go near fire light, he likes to drink hot coca and sit by the fire/ He likes to read horror books and movies, if the farmer likes them he asks if you can watch them with him/ He doesn't know how gifts quite work so the first time he sent you a gift he sent you a dead rat/ He likes to learn more about the human world through the Farmer and at some point Maru.
馃拵Dwarf: Feral/ He talks with Maru who understands him in which makes him very happy/ Since he's friends with Maru he gets her any materials she needs for projects, in return she makes him little trinkets to play with/ He like a cat, he curls up near anything warm and lays about everywhere/ He plants little things in his section of the mine entrance like vines and flowers to lighten it up a bit.
馃鈥嶁檪锔廤izard: He and Caroline still talk but in secret, no romance just how to handle Abigail's powers/ He's friends with Mr. Qi and the farmer's grandfather/ He's aware of other timelines and prefers not to talk of them because they can be terrifying and horrid/ works a lot so he takes long, long, long, naps.
鉁∕r. Qi: He somehow runs many establishments/ He lives on Ginger Island and talks to Birdie/ He also knows grandpa and watches over you with him and judges you/ Friendly to everyone, even people who hate him/ Very long purple hair and lets people braid it.
馃懟Grandpa: He can be any race depending on the character, as in he could he Asian/ Black/ ect if the farmer wants him to be/ When he was alive he would let the kids in the town go around on his farm with their parents to check it out/ He was a saint when he was alive, he would donate money to fund schools and the Community Center, probably why he has a horrible bed in the game, no money to get a better one.

About 2 years ago I made a post about Dwarf鈥檚 personality and characteristics. I thought I would expand on it a little more (headcanon time)
I still think they鈥檙e the optimistic and sociable type. Basically most of their dialogue with you gives off that impression. This seems contradictory because of their backstory but I see it more or less as someone who鈥檚 still trying to find happiness and lead a better life. They do have moments when they鈥檙e blunt though.
They like most human things including food and technology. Dwarves in general are friends of humans so it鈥檚 pretty typical. I like to think that because they go out into town to get what they need, they adapted some human ingredients into their diet (or ingredients you can really only find in the surface). Despite this they actively choose to speak their own language, it鈥檚 just a way of not assimilating completely.
I used to think dwarves wouldn鈥檛 eat gems but I鈥檓 changing my mind. I believe they鈥檙e edible but not a substitute for meals, they鈥檇 be like candy or something. Though they can still be used for other things like jewelry and we know dwarves used them to enhance weapons and tools. Anyway, I鈥檓 going to assume Dwarf loves gems because they鈥檙e a sweet tooth.
They put their cave near the surface to be a little closer to the humans, because it鈥檚 better for business, and because the deeper levels are unlivable somehow. It鈥檚 mentioned by Dwarf that they like being deeper underground, but they鈥檙e just right by the entrance and there's probably a reason for that. I take it they hide from humans to guarantee their safety, but not so much that they鈥檙e unreachable. I still don鈥檛 know why they run a shop outside of being an in-game reward for the player though. Maybe they鈥檙e in debt.
I also think they鈥檙e mettlesome but reckless. They鈥檙e probably used to getting away with things like stealing and breaking and entering in town, so I see them being quite confident. The sewer encounter and fight was most likely started by them, and they also seemed unarmed fighting Krobus in his own home.
Despite that, they鈥檙e generally careful around shadow people in the mines. Before I thought that they just attacked them whenever they saw them around or straight up went after them deliberately, but it makes more sense to me that they just hide. It really depends on how you see shadow people as a species but I see them as another society. In that case, it would be better for Dwarf to stay out of their sight completely and not risk the shadow people organizing to hunt them down once they find out that they exist. If there鈥檚 just one guy on their own though, Dwarf might target them.
Krobus would play an interesting role in their life partially because he has a meaningful connection with both humans and shadow people. Shadow people are apparently enemies of humans but he shows that being compassionate to both isn鈥檛 mutually exclusive, which begs the question if the same could happen for shadow people and dwarves. I feel like I could make a separate post dedicated to this dynamic but I鈥檒l keep it short here. I鈥檒l say that if there was any starting point to building a positive relationship between both characters, it would be Dwarf noticing his different, more favorable outlook on humanity and finding common ground there. They would also be gracefully crossing a threshold where they see that shadow people have their nuances too.
I can see Dwarf being hard to write, given that there鈥檚 a lot of gaps to fill because the lore is vague, but it鈥檚 really fun to do. I鈥檓 very happy 1.6 gave them some new content but they still hold unused potential. I should maybe think about what else could be done. I mean, I probably have some more headcanons that I just can鈥檛 remember right now.
