I feel like it needs to be said that if you are going to recommend people read a fanfic, whether it's through a fanart you drew, a rec post, or just rambling about it in general, it helps a lot to actually link the fic in question.

Like it's good you are telling people to read something with such enthusiasm, but a lot of people reading the post will not do it if you do not make the work accessible.

Laughing a bit that this is the second ask I've got on the subject

The honest answer is that I kind of HAVE written it, the problem is I just have no where I feel safe posting it. I know it's not my responsibility if minors or w/e choose to read my smut on AO3 but I just don't ? Like the idea of them reading without me knowing. Tumblr only has password locked accounts which is annoying as hell. and Bsky hasn't added locked accounts yet (and even if they did I'd have to link a document or something.......)

I've considered more than once of making a new nsfw blog and just turning off reblogs on any posts. But even if I did I'd still only hand out the url to people on request so I know who's looking at it haha

Also I'm avoiding getting on the soap box of how tumblr reacts to adult content of characters that were minors at any point in their canon (even if you are writing the characters as adults)

Y'all, I don't even know what to say. I'm so excited I could throw up. I have been working on this for ages, and sometimes I wasn't sure if it was going to happen. But we made it! Stop! Stop! Stop! Teldryn beat his fist on the floor. He felt a crack, then a sharp pain shooting through his wrist and up his arm. His vision began to clear and the pounding in his head began to feel less intense. He felt himself gasping for air, not realising he had been holding his breath. His palm stung. Pain travelled up his arm like a slowly burning fire.

The room was dark, the light from the braziers casting harsh shadows across the chamber. The contrast and flickering made him feel nauseous. Before him lay a series of scrawled messages and symbols, all written in fresh, red ink or… It mixed with the ash, grey against red. The phrases were too familiar, the symbols all the same. The scribblings surrounded him in a circular pattern. Insectoid sigils reflected back at him. Words hastily written by a shaking hand. Letter forms familiar, the twists and thickness of each stroke identical to his own. The same phrases again and again. Each time, the same pattern. The same symbols the same –His palm stung and the pain shot up his arm. He shifted onto the balls of his feet, still in a daze and gazed at the palm of his right hand. A single deep gash ran across his palm. Blood was still pouring out of the wound. His dagger lay beside him, fresh blood staining the impossibly sharp blade. His.

He’d gone again! Gods, he hadn’t expected their calling to be so loud. It was overwhelming. Teldryn felt drained again. The sheer effort it took to keep himself present, keep himself grounded – here – was quickly outpacing the energising effects of the potions he’d taken earlier. Teldryn struggled to his feet. His legs were weak, wobbling like scrib jelly. He reached for the amulet on his belt and felt the warm surface of the enchanted glasswork vibrate beneath his blood-stained fingers.

Hey, I wanted to ask you.

I do not follow everything you do but I know I appreciate the way you write and think those writings, so I wondered...

Why Neloth ?

Ow of course I have my ideas but I'd like to know what makes you tick on this character, what you like to explore about him and such. I'm a curious lil scrib, tell me everything.

Oh boy oh boy... special interest request unlocked. I've been in such a Neloth mood recently, too. This comes at a great time.

I'll probably put most of this under a cut, because I have no idea how long I might ramble about this. Could be just a couple of paragraphs... could be more. Who knows. But just suffice to say, I have a lot of feelings. And it all began as a "joke" and then, of course, inevitably got to the point of "haha I don't think this is a joke anymore..."

So it all started when someone dared me to write Neloth smut (cough, Wolf I'm looking at you). I won't link to the first story, but the premise was basically "Neloth Sex Pollen Trope Go". And so I did. And it was light-hearted and not super serious, but it gave me a taste for the character and a sort of... longing to do something with a little more depth. I'm a huge fan of "crack treated seriously". So I added a second chapter to that first fic, and it dug a little deeper into Neloth's psychology. And then I was fully invested because this man was REPRESSED. And I love nothing more than a repressed character having their walls knocked down.

So then I move onto my flagship fic, "Breathing Water", which wasn't meant to be shippy when I started writing it. I mostly just wanted to put Neloth and Teldryn in a room together and see what they'd do. And they didn't disappoint -- just absolutely some of the most fun banter and snark to write. But, then, Teldryn (especially as the Nerevarine) allowed me to peel back even more layers to Neloth, because I got to see how he treats someone who's actually earns his respect.

Then it just kind of spiraled from there. Working with a character who has such low empathy but also a latent and repressed desire to connect with people--to experience love and to be loved in return--but just was never really taught how or shown what it looks like. I find him fascinating and a little heartbreaking and very worthy of my time and energy. I want to see him grow into something that is approximate to a good person, in his own strange way. He'll never be a do-good hero. But he can learn what caring for others looks like, and I think that's my goal with him. And why I love him so much. I'm just rooting for him, endlessly.
