Quote
No film can be made to work without an understanding of the reactions and anticipations of the audience . . . The audience is a force as determining of story design as any other element.

Having researched existing software and apps there really does seem to be a gap in the market for a program that uses "Gamification" in its approach to teach screenwritng.

This is a test pressing, limited to 20. These will be signed and numbered. You can get one at @windycityfest on Friday, July 19th at the screenplay reading, remember they are limited to 20, when they are gone, they’re gone. I’m debating on putting a Lisa Frank stickers over the Walgreens Logo (Charlotte in the screenplay loves Lisa Frank because she’s built around me as a kid in the 90s.) . . . #princesscoyote #artwork #artista #artist #screenwriter #filmmaker #johannafalzone #screenplay #womeninfilm #illustrator #limitededition #sisepuede #filmfestival #chicago #coyote #charlotte #javier #popart #illustration #contemporaryart #wcff19 #cine #indiefilm #screenwritng #bestfriends #losangeles #glendale #california #norwegian #mexican https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz4IybzFg7T/?igshid=1wfr2upro05hm

(I am there with you girl. Time to prepare for my nightly writing attack!! 😍📝) #Repost @annaliterallyig ・・・ This is one of my favorite Agatha Christie quotes. I love it even more so because It was my love of Agatha Christie that made me want to be a writer. I keep this quote on my phone as a reminder for when things get tough. When you write every day, it isn’t always going to be easy. It might not even be any good. Keep writing anyway. No matter how tough it gets, remember: You can’t edit a blank page. #thursdaythoughts #writerthoughts #thursdayvibes #instamotivation #instainspiration #motivation #morningmotivation #needmotivation #life #success #writing #amwriting #writingquotes #writnginspiration #writersroad #instawomen #womenempowerment #womenempoweringwomen #screenplay #screenwritng #screenwriter #writerslife #screenwriters #writinglife #amwriting #femalefilmmaker #writelife #scriptchat #writersofinstagram #selftaughtscreenwriting #scriptguts #scripthustle #passion https://www.instagram.com/p/BnaPlvXH1gU/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=be1jgppcsekn

Rough Guide to final project.
With all the disruption going on around us I have been struggling to focus but here is the sort of basics of my final project.
As mentioned in previous posts, my project in essence is a type of screenwriting software that will aim to gamefye the experience for the user. Encouraging them to keep writing and setting them challenges. It will also have options like getting to share work with others.
Project Title- "Writes".... Camera... Action or "Getting it on the Page"
Project Platform- Having spoke to Brian in class last week, I've decided the most suitable platform for this software would be as an add on for either Goolge Chrome or google Docs ect... and I would aim at having a monthly subscription and potentially a free version with less features.
Identifying the Market- There are not really mainy examples of software that gamefye screenwritng. My main compensation and inspiration for this is the languages app "Dulingo".
The main screenwriting software on subscription or that costs money available on the market are "Final Draft", "Celtix" and "Movie Magic" Free options include Trilby and StudioBinder. This article below outlines this further.
https://www.scriptreaderpro.com/free-screenwriting-software/
Going forward I need to outline coastins and further identify exactly how this add on feature would work and where it would be available ect...

Critical Reflection Blog Post Week 7: Let There Be Productivity.
Despite making the above declaration many times in a booming, thunderous voice, productivity was not to be this week. Or the next. Or the one after that. But I’m here to talk about week 7 so lets just pretend the two weeks of wasted time after that didn’t happen.
Even now, as I’m typing this, my eyes are starting to glaze over with the need to start binge-reading my book which, in typical fashion, started to get really bloody good just as the work-o-meter started to reach a critical danger zone. It’s all class drama and an admirable nineteenth century murderess/heroine and insane asylums and sexy lady ankles and it’s too good. This book is juicy. It’s creamy on the inside with a bitter-sweet crunch on the outside. Like an eclair.  (Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood, I do recommend)
I think I’m going to give the movie reviews a miss this week, because I’ve been talking/ranting about the films for the past few posts. I think for week seven I want to talk about writing. We had the pitching workshop this week, and I didn’t realise how unformed my 10-12 page script was until I tried to fit it into the magical pitching formula. At least not with plot. I’m bloody terrible with plot.  What did happen, though, was suddenly the characters became real to me. I knew that Walt had a single mother who was a mechanic, I knew he was a college drop-out. Sam, the other central character, started getting some flesh on his bones, too. He became a character in his own right, instead of just a foil/saviour for Walt. The only thing uncertain about Sam is his gender, but oddly enough I think that will come after I throw these two into a car together and see what happens. I know. I should have an ending in mind. I should have a climax in mind. Scene break-downs and what not. The thing is...I think I have to try writing the script this way. I’ve only ever written stories in prose - this will be the first significant thing I’ve written in script form since...ever. And I’m struggling with it. Writing in a script format hasn’t become natural to me. I’m always forcing it. I think it’s why I’m struggling so much with the PSW short assignments - they’re all scripts, and I find scripts so intimidating. I don’t have much trust in my ability to write a script, because I’ve never really done it before.
So this week I told myself that I’m just going to go for it. I’m not going to let Final Draft intimidate me with all its fancy scene break downs and the little buttons I don’t understand. I’m going to tell myself that I am going to write the worst script there ever was. I know who my characters are. I know what their conflicts and goals are. I’m going to put them in a car and let the chips fall. See if this is a writing method that works for me. Maybe it won’t. Maybe it will.
Fact: The only way I’m going to get better at writing in script format is to do it as much as possible.
Reality: I have no bloody choice and I’m running out of time, so fuck it.
