Hello anon! Sure, I’m afraid I’m not good explaining stuff but I will try. 

The outcome will be something like this:

First you need to get a nice screencap (remember that higher resolution = better outcome). I usually get the screencaps myself from the video files or I get them from screencapped.net. 

Once you have the picture/sreencap (in this case I’ll be using this one), you open both the image and this psd in photoshop. Go to the screencap tab and select the pen tool 

then, you start clickling the outline of the figure you want as your icon 

once you finish the whole outline, you connect the last dot with the first one (so as to close the selection). You right click the selection and click on “Make Selection”

You shoud have something like this:

Now you click Edit>Copy, and go to the Psd tab and paste it there. Make sure that the new item is exactly in this place so that the coloring works

Now you have to readjust the size of the new item to fit the 200x200 icon size. You can do this by selecting the “move” tool

now, pressing shift, you click on the top left corner of the image and you start dragging it just like the arrow indicates in the following picture (pressing shift all the way lets you keep the image’s dimensions fixed)

you drag it and you move the layer so that it is “visible” again. Once you are happy with the size, you click back on the “move tool” and click “Apply” so now you should have something like this

Now, you can sharpen the image by clikcing Filter> Sharpen> Smart Sharpen

the settings I use are

You click “Okay” and now you just have to save it!! (File> Save as..) and you save it as .png or .jpeg

Hey! Thanks so much!! For mine I screenshotted funny text posts I thought worked for my characters/fic as I scrolled my dash. Sometimes you can find sceenshots of posts just by googling 'Tumblr text posts' or something like that! I like to keep the url/icon of the OP in the screenshot just to give credit. Once you have your text posts, all you have to do is put them on screencaps! You can either make them yourself, use google to find some, or us websites/blogs like screencapped.net! Hope this helps, if not feel free to come back!! xo
