A couple of thoughts on today’s events in the GO fandom:
- OMG
- I did see it, but in the interest of keeping things under wraps until July 28th, I will not share any leaks or spoilers publicly, but at the same time...
- How did that even happen?!
- Amazon Prime is to blame for the leak, not the fans. There is no faction of “good” GO fans who haven’t shared the spoiler vs. “bad” GO fans who did because they were genuinely excited and saw something shared by an official source. People have the right to be excited after months (years, even) of no content of any kind, just as much as people have the right to be disappointed or not want spoilers.
- ...But Neil reblogging and agreeing with this post is almost certain to create division and once again sets up fans as targets. The coddling of Neil is also disconcerting to witness, as if he is a child rather than a grown adult man. There was no context for the spoiler and nothing else to give us clues for what was happening and while yes, it’s understandable that he feels frustrated/upset, that does not give him the right to further punch down on the fans (who are undoubtedly easier targets than his boss(es) at Amazon).
- We absolutely must have promo interviews with Michael and David in the weeks leading up to July 28th because they will be the stuff of legend and if we do not get any interviews, I will simply perish.
- In conclusion, Michael Sheen’s face in this picture:

Siúil a Rún
Siúil, siúil, siúil a rún Siúil go sochair agus siúil go ciúin Siúil go doras agus éalaigh liom Is go dté tú mo mhúirnín slán
Go, go, go my love Go steadily and go softly Go to the door and away we’ll flee And then safe may my darling be
(siúil is a strong word for “go” kind of like “Walk!” or “Come!” and  a rún is an endearment.)

why the ballad? nothing of me, my voice, or the words hold beauty, and yet you all look upon me in wonder as though this flaw is beautiful. i was trained out of this. these melodies, these unintelligible words. to be wanted, i left this behind. lost. no matter how much of me, it held. and as we raise glasses, i think about high roads and low roads, and all the roads i've taken banks, or rather dorm rooms, i have left love behind in never to meet again, or never in the same way. so, you take the high road, as i have always taken the low, and i will always take the low road, for low, is all i will ever be, there is nothing of good in me. though the woeful may cease from their grieving - p. s. shuller

I am not above sampling lyrics in my poetry. This was a fun one to play with because I love this ballad. I'm a writer, actor, and musician. So, playing around with found poetry from music, especially like this, is always fun. Reusing old poetry in a new way? Just the best. Sadly, I'm not sure the link will work because Tumblr is being stinky. However, I can confirm that the link is an offshoot of BBC Music. Tumblr just for some reason is having trouble hyperlinking it.

Scottish Coin Hoard Could be Linked to 1692's Glencoe Massacre
Coins found under a fireplace may have been hidden there by a victim of the infamous Massacre of Glencoe, according to archaeologists.
Almost 40 members of Clan MacDonald of Glencoe were killed in February 1692 after soldiers were ordered to attack them.
A student discovered the money at the site of a house linked to the clan's chief.
Lucy Ankers was on her first dig when she made the find.
The 36 coins were inside a pot which had a small round pebble as a lid and had been placed beneath a hearth stone slab in the fireplace.
The discovery was made in August during an excavation at the site of the ruined house, led by archaeologists from the University of Glasgow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The property was associated with clan chief Alasdair Ruadh "MacIain" MacDonald of Glencoe.
He was among the estimated 38 people killed in the massacre.
Ms Ankers said: "As a first experience of a dig, Glencoe was amazing.
"The two weeks I spent digging solidified that I want to pursue a career within archaeology."
She added: "I wasn't expecting such an exciting find as one of my firsts, and I don't think I will ever beat the feeling of seeing the coins peeking out of the dirt in the pot."
The MacDonalds were targeted because of their support for the exiled King James VII of Scotland and II of England.
The clan backed the restoration of the Stuart dynasty to the British throne and had taken part in the first Jacobite Rising of 1689.
Historians say they were late delivering an oath of allegiance to the Protestant King William III, and had been branded as rebels by the Secretary of Scotland, Sir John Dalrymple.
In late January 1692, about 120 soldiers from the Earl of Argyll's Regiment of Foot arrived in Glencoe from Invergarry led by Capt Robert Campbell of Glen Lyon.
The troops were billeted with members of the clan, before turning on their hosts on 13 February.
Some people tried to escape in a snow blizzard to nearby glens, including Gleann Leac-na-muidhe, where the coin hoard was found.
The University of Glasgow has suggested a number of reasons why the money could be connected to the massacre.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
None of the coins were minted after the 1680s, which has led archaeologists to suggest they were most likely deposited under the fireplace either just before or during the killings for safekeeping.
The archaeologists also said whoever buried the coins did not return for them, possibly indicating they were among the victims of the massacre.
The coins are dated from the late 1500s through to the 1680s, and include pieces from the reigns of Elizabeth I, James VI and I, Charles I, the Cromwellian Commonwealth, and Charles II.
There were also coins from France and the Spanish Netherlands, as well as one coin which appears to have originated in the Papal States.
Dr Michael Given, a co-director of the archaeological project in Glencoe, said: "These exciting finds give us a rare glimpse of a single, dramatic event.
Tumblr media
"Here's what seems an ordinary rural house, but it has a grand fireplace, impressive floor slabs, and exotic pottery imported from the Netherlands and Germany.
"And they've gathered up an amazing collection of coins in a little pot and buried them under the fireplace.
"It's a real privilege, as archaeologists, to hold in our hands these objects that were so much part of people's lives in the past."
University of Glasgow excavations director Edward Stewart added: "The excavation of MacIain's Summerhouse allows us to better understand the importance of these uplands to local elites.
"The scale of this structure and the wealth of artefacts uncovered within suggest this was a place where the MacDonald chiefs could entertain with feasting, gambling, hunting and libations.
"The discovery of this coin hoard within the structure adds an exciting dimension to this story.
"However, ordinary and everyday finds within this structure such as spindle whorls for making thread, a pitch fork and a dress pin, speak to the everyday lives of those who lived here, worked the land and minded the cattle."

Historically inspired Hero of the Wild! For this one I went for scottish 17th/18th century inspired garb, adapting the archaic set from TOTK into a great kilt! I really tried challenging myself with the drawing, especially on the face and the fabric! I did originally plan to have a tartan pattern on the great kilt but I didn't feel I had the skill to pull it off with how bunched up I decided to make the fabric, maybe if I draw him again I'll do the fabric simpler and add the pattern! I also want to draw him again with the great kilt in all the different configurations you can wear it in. I also wanted to play with different outfit combinations for this one since that's such a key part of his games!

7th March 1744 saw The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers hold their first meeting on Leith Links.
It was during this meeting that the first time rules were written down for the sport of golf, and it was only at the behest of the City of Edinburgh Council,, who had presented a silver club prize for a competition but insisted that there had to be rules for the competition.
The competition was held on Leith Links, April 2nd, and was open to all golfers in the country, but only ten local “Gentlemen” competed. The Links course only had five holes at the time! The winner was Mr John Rattray Surgeon in Edinburgh, who had drafted the original ‘Articles & Laws in Playing at Golf’ a few weeks earlier. A silver ball with the winner’s name on it was attached to the club, a tradition which endures to this day.
Rattray joined the Jacobite '45 Rising after the Battle of Prestonpans, becoming “Bonnie Prince Charlie’s” personal surgeon. He avoided execution thanks to the intercession of Duncan Forbes, President of the Court of Session, a golfing friend.
Leith Rules Golf Society recently raised money and a statue of Rattray was erected on The Links in honour of his contribution to the sport.
The picture of a painting by Edinburgh artist David Allan is of William Inglis, c 1712 - 1792. Surgeon and Captain of the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, the trophy is long lost, but an Edinburgh company has made replicas of how the trophy would have looked.
The honourable Gentlemen are now based at Muirfield in East Lothian
You can read the rules and more history about the Honourable Gentlemen here https://www.scottishgolfhistory.org/origin-of-golf-terms/rules-of-golf/
