TW: I’m talking about J.K.Rowling and her awfulness

I should have probably posted this when everything happened, but it’s taken me a while to process everything (other stuff was going on in my life that I needed to deal with) so here we are.

When I was 11, I WORSHIPPED J.K.Rowling. I did presentations on her in school. I wanted to write her a letter so she knew how much I loved Harry Potter and what it meant for me. She even inspired me to start writing (although that didn’t happen until I was 14).

Now I see the “Who Is J.K.Rowling?” Books (They’re books for kids about icons if you don’t know. Walt Disney, Obama, and more have them) in Michael’s and my brain is like “a freaking terf.”

She makes me so angry!

I cannot believe she had the opportunity to not stereotype Dean and Seamus as the only black and Irish characters, and she did!! Same with Cho Chang, like come ON! Dean and Cho were her ONLY non-white representation (and Kingsley!) and she freaking stereotyped them.

And then she could have made Sirius and Lupin into something together (bc there’s chemistry or I’ve spent too long reading headcanons), OR Albus Potter and Scorpious Malfoy, BUT NOOOO she had to randomly make Dumbledore gay when it had NOTHING to do with the plot, and now we’re getting these crummy Fantastic Beasts things so she can create this forced storyline between Dumbledore and Grindlewald.

And then the whole her being a terf thing. Yeah. That fucking sucks.

We gave her all this power and she’s blowing it. She could be a strong advocate for Transgender rights, as Harry Potter is so popular, she would get a huge following, but no.

She makes me SO MAD. I wish I could put it into words, but I can’t. “So mad” is about the best I can do, I’m truly appalled.

And it’s depressing, because like I said, I used to love her. I’ve been sitting on this for a while.

I just hope that everyone who has been heavily affected by her statements are okay. I’ve unfollowed her everywhere so I don’t know if she’s changed or continued on her path, but like I said this has been bothering me for a really long time.

I still love the actual story. Harry Potter was my introduction to fandom, and I feel like the characters are my friends. I’m acknowledging the mistakes in the story, and the flaws with the author that I do not support. As always, I want everyone to feel comfortable on my page, and I want to post Harry Potter things (like Fanart n stuff) without hurting anyone. So this is also why I’m posting this.

I also welcome anyone who wants to still love Harry Potter (but not the author) to come chat ☺️ I don’t want to like bash on the author, I’d rather not talk about her at all, but we can talk about Harry Potter 🥰
