I don’t know if they would? not sure how much they would care about that, it depends on how important the family structure really is to them. But this did lead me to look up a list of Latin phrases, which is obviously not the Coluan language and may not be accurate/authentic for them, but could be what they would choose as the language for their motto, if they lived on Earth in this century.

ab uno disce omnes - from one, learn all (Brainiac’s collecting thing)

cogito ergo sum- I think, therefore I am

damnant quod non intellegunt - they condemn what they do not understand (like, nobody will understand us, which is why they call us evil)

ex vulgus scientia- from crowd, knowledge (again, the collecting thing)

fui quod es, eris quod sum - I once was what you are, you will be what I am (ancestral memory)

Infinitus est numerus stultorum - infinite is the number of fools (their perspective on the rest of the world)

ingenio stat sine morte decus - the honors of genius are eternal

memores acti prudentes futuri - mindful of things done, aware of things to come

mens et manus - mind and hand

mors tua, vita mea- your death, my life (aka what Brainiac would gain from collecting things, knowledge/information is life to them, they don’t really care about the death of others as long as it means gaining information)
