   THERE’S A TIME AND A PLACE - and caring little for either has never changed, past or present.

  “Nova,” Shepard’s tone has a warning edge against it, barely heard against the pounding baseline from Lower Afterlife. It’s darker, dingier down here and while the bouncers always know who’s around and where, they’ve stolen themselves off to what is, arguably, a backroom filled with crates of extra booze not yet chilled or refrigerated. Eager, purposeful hands have backed her into a corner (really, she let it happen), hidden from immediate view of the doorway but should any one of her girl’s coworkers come looking for that extra special brew, they’ll be found - and after word’s gotten out that she’s alive and well after death, the last thing she wants is for the ‘great’ Commander Shepard to be caught with her pants down, literally.

Yet, she doesn’t push Nova away. Between the hungry, eager kisses reminiscent of their youth, she moans into the older woman’s mouth and those hands tug on the zipper of that old hoodie, half-way before her hands slip under with the intent to grip at her breasts through her t-shirt. There’s a laugh against her lips, too. 

 “You are way too overdressed, Al,” Nova shakes her head and her smile could light up the entire room. From there, she continues to pull the zip down until it comes apart at the bottom of the garment - and with it, Nova sinks to her knees  with that look up at her and it takes all of Alice’s strength to stay upright with how it makes her weak at the knees. 

 “Oh, fuck,” Shepard’s head tilts back against the wall with a soft thud when her belt of her BDUs gives way, then the button, then the zipper. The cool air of the room makes her now bare thighs shiver - but it’s the warmth of her girlfriend’s breath between them that makes her wet - and her tongue, that makes her moan.

“  pardon the snooping,  ma’am,  but recruiters came to you for brain camp ?  ”    the rather invasive question comes without a second thought,  quite the oddity for alenko.  instantly,  thick brows shoot up,  lips dipping downwards apologetically.  speaking out of turn,  dislodging traumatic memories,  isn’t his favorite pastime,  unfortunately,  so it made prodding even more uncomfortable.  mentions of b.a.a.t did something for him,  as much as he would’ve liked to leave that well behind him.   “  sorry if that’s a bit forward,  asking about your childhood and whatnot.  just something i came across in your file.  not many people said no.  ”    :  @sciefi​.

Ada scowls down at her tablet, setting it on the countertop with an intent so heavy that irritation fills the room thick as fog. Her gaze locks on the pilot, young and excitable thing that she seems to be. “I understand that you have nothing to do between transports, that you’re eager to see everything and learn everything, that the lab seems mysterious and exotic, but listen to me. I am a very busy woman. I need silence to be able to concentrate while I run my tests. Please...if you must stay in here, sit down, don’t touch anything, and don’t make small talk.”

It could be, or it could just be Lou saying: An eye lash went into my eye and much like your organic eyes, it’s a pain in the ass. The tools are put down and Moe turns on her stool, pulling the bright, neon pink braids into a top knot “Want me to have a look?“

  “Surprised you were up before me,” Shepard remarks casually, still dressed in just a shirt and her briefs, leant up against the doorway. The scent of freshly brewed coffee fills the apartment, reminiscent of the days spent together in a much smaller place than this. Her smile widens seeing Nova like this - like the old days - but there’s something more now, older, wiser, and better. 

  Calloused and scarred hands take the warm ceramic between her palms, standing before Nova in this humble morning after - catching up, more like it - and for a just a little while, she forgets the war, forgets that burden - Atlas rests, and Alice takes a breather. 

   To her lips, she raises the mug, steaming hot with just that bit of cream for taste. Down it goes and she feels awake - alive again. “You remembered how I take it.”
