THE DNDADS TEENS PLAY BG3!!! HOW THEY’RE PLAYING AND WHO THEYRE ROMANCING!

‼️‼️Pretty major spoilers for big parts of Baldurs gate. PLEASE read with caution. ‼️‼️

Scary: she plays a drow wild magic sorcerer. If this is before she and Willy broke their patron pact, then her dream visitor is Willy. If its after that, then its some really hot emo person. In terms of romance, Scary is likely drawn to Astarion after the vampire reveal but is torn between him and Shadowheart. (Also Wyll because hes actually GENUINELY nice to her but sincerity scares her so she doesn’t try to pursue anything with him even though she does actually really like him) she tries to romance the dream visitor (if it's NOT Willy obviously) but is pretty disgusted by the later reveal and later kills them. Scary plays evil until she gets to the nightfall and shadowheart doesnt kill the night song. After that, scary makes an effort for the rest of the game to be better.

Lincoln: Linc is just a normal human guy oath of devotion paladin. He’s literally just playing himself. He makes his dream visitor his dad which makes later scenes REALLY uncomfortable and he gets real-world mad at Marco like it’s somehow his fault. Linc helped minthara take over the grove because he got to the goblin camp before meeting the tieflings and he supports women. (#ally)(also she reminded him of scary and her character) but he massacred an entire people and then didn’t know why everyone was so upset at the party. Anyways he ended up romancing her. He DID NOT romance the dream visitor for obvious reasons. Linc does a FULLY evil run because he listens to women (ally) also hes: "too far in now to be saved anyways."

Normal: norm is a half elf, elf, gnome, dwarf, halfling, dragonborn and gith. He keeps restarting the game when he makes a choice he feels guilty about (Often). it REALLY bothers him that he cant make ALL of his companions approve of ALL of his choices at the same time. Eventually, he settles on a halfling college of valour bard. His dream visitor is (unfortunately) hermie. For romances, like Scary, hes also drawn in my Astarion’s “emo bad boy ness” and normal BELIEVES that he can fix him. He cant. He ascends him because he really just BELIEVES that there’s no way astarion will continue the cycle of abuse. It’ll be different this time for sure. It’s- uh- NOT. (Shocker). Also he romanced the dream visitor and felt guilty about it. Normal plays a good route (with the exception of ascending astarion) and the final party is bittersweet with his partner being the way he is. (Scary hears him talk about what happens to astarion and is FULLY like: “norm thats straight up toxic as fuck. LEAVE HIM” "ITS MY FAULT HES LIKE THIS" "no its NOT norm i am BEGGING you to raise your standards")

Taylor: oh you KNOW hes playing a tiefling. He plays a gloom stalker ranger because now he can actually USE those skills on the road. His dream visitor is his anime waifu. He’s romancing Lae’zel WHICH SOUNDS KIND OF SUPRISING until you realize the conversation went like this: Lizzie: “you’ve earned my respect and more still. You’ve proven your wits and your efficient and dominant. In and out of battle.” Taylor: “heh. It’s about TIME someone recognized what i bring to the group. I truly am the backbone of our party and shes smart for finally recognizing the value of my expertise. A WORTHY PARTNER FOR- (15 more minutes of monologue)” also he romanced the dream visitor and DID NOT feel guilty about it and was in fact, VERY onboard with the later revel. But he does end up turning on them and killing them to free Orpheus. (which he cried about afterwards) Taylor plays a fully good play through and gets the best possible ending.

hehehehehehehehehe YOU ASKED SO YOU'RE GETING A HUGE ANSWER !!!!!

marloakworthy.......... my beloved ............... a part of the reason why I love them so much is because I feel like they kind of complete or make up for each other's qualities if that makes sense . Or like they fill in the weaknesses of the individual pairings? Which is why I love them TOGETHER.

LIKE I LOVE OAKWORTHY but there's always been this inherent problem where Normal is obsessive because he's desperate for affection and Hermie is flighty because he's afraid of commitment and vulnerability. And I looked at that and went THE SOLUTION IS POLYMORY. Because if Normal has a consistent and stable relationship he can fall back on than he wouldn't be as intense with Hermie and therefore Hermie wouldn't feel as trapped and could open up more. I think Hermie is very afraid of just how much Normal loves them because he cannot reciprocate to the same degree and it makes him feel guilty trying to do romantic scene partner stuff because it feels like leading Normal on for feelings that they won't ever have in reality.

ENTER SCARY !!!! I think Hermie and Scary DO have good chemistry their relationship would be a lot more loose and casual which makes it fun! It's like they're both really good actors and so it's fun for them to do more of Hermie's scene partner stuff and having a safe space for Hermie to act and play around with roles is good for him I think he needs it for enrichment JABEVAHAHA while with Normal Hermie would feel some pressure to Just Be Himself despite not knowing what that is. SOMETHING HE CAN RELATE TO WITH SCARY! I think the two of them can really connect on the whole. Lying about who you are so much that the mask BECOMES you and you lose track of whats real and not. I think it's really interesting to compare their identity struggles and they can give each other a certain perspective that Normal wouldn't totally understand. Scary and Hermie are both very cynical people and even though they try to be better and more soft and comforting it is not entirely natural and they're learning as they go and sometimes its nice to have someone around who's also really imperfect and learning beside you.

AND NORMAL. MY SWEET PRECIOUS BOY EIEBWFAHAHAHHA. I think he brings a lot of light to the two of them. Like I said they're both very cynical so while it's nice to have someone to relate it's also easy to get trapped in a downward spiral feedback loop. NORMAL THOUGH. He's the one who pulls them out of it. He's the kind of person who loves with all his heart and his earnest and steady affection is just very comforting to people like Scary and Hermie who are used to people leaving. Norm and Scary just Get each other due to them being foils and thematic parallels JWBEGAHHAHA I think out of all the individual pairs normscary is the most stable. I FEEL LIKE I DONT EVEN HAVE TO EXPLAIN IT? The way they understand each other and can support each other . It's just kind of inherent to their characters and their dynamic. But I think Scary can be afraid that she's going to push Normal away or make him leave and so that can lead to stuff like her not pursuing or being vocal about her affection or swinging hard the opposite way and panicking purposely shoving him away because it hurts less when she chooses it. Thats what its like. Hermie is there as a third person another perspective to be like HEY. YOU GUYS ARE BEING DUMB.

I really see marloakworthy as more like. Normscary is the steadyfast main romantic relationship while Hermie comes and goes but these two are his favorite people.

I'm a known polywagon enjoyer and while I DO love all the other inner dynamics within polywagon I think marloakworthy has my favorite parts boiled down. Which is why it's my favorite dndads ship atm!

I love angst. I write it into a lot of things. But as far as endings go... hmm. Well I guess that title would currently go to one of my drabbles, A Done Deal [DnDads, G, Wc: 100] but without giving away spoilers one of my wips is going to take that title as soon as I get around to writting it lol.

Hahaha, yes! On LJ my irl bestie and I wrote a fic together! It was very cute, we each did a chapter following one half of the ships pov. I'd love to do it again some day it was super fun! What I really wanna do is get a bunch of different writers involved in doing a collaboration where the characters are stuck waking up in different timelines, so each chapter could be a different one-shot by a different author but they all connect. I think it would be fun.

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

Sora/Riku. I don't write for this ship but I will fight god about them. I've been obsessed with them since I was 12 and played Kingdom Hearts. I have fics I've been re-reading for alkjsdflks way too long omg. When I played Kh3 and Riku showed up I screamed so loud it scared my partner. You can pry them from my cold dead fingers okay.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Hahaha, I just recently posted this fic to my Ao3. A Divine Move [Teen Wolf, M, 8,676] Stiles is a horror game character (based off games like Until Dawn and The Blair Witch Project) and Derek is from a dating sim (Based off Hunnypop lol) It was going to get an E rating cause I had some absolutely slasher ideas for Stiles game and the plot was loosely adapted from Wreck-It-Ralph. So, maybe one day I'll get the inspiration back, but as of now it's just not there.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I have been told I have a very clear writing voice and that I'm very good at setting a scene and showing it to the reader. I think my main strength is my humor. lol I find myself very funny.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

A lack of confidence alksdfjalksd. I get so anxious trying to make sure that the movie in my head is being translated into word correctly that I sometimes over do things. Also I have the absolute worst grammar, and spelling omg.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

If I don't speak the language enough to be confident that I'm using the words correctly I just do the "They said in language" kinda thing.

I have been putting so much work into this fic and it's really pushing me as a writer. I have been obsessed with cult and demons since I was young, probably too young lol, so this is just basically 3 of my hyper-fixations coming together in a fun way. I have big plans for this fic and I'm very excited about it. I've been working on it for 7 months now, and I'm really hoping I can finish it before the end of the year.

Lucky for you, Syl, I also have plenty of Amphibia things I have daydreamed about and never written!

The one that's immediately coming to mind is something from my old Cursed, Cast, Cat (CCC) au, in which Marcy's a witch, Anne is her shapeshifting cat familiar, and Sasha's just a regular human who got turned into a toad via curse. It was a 3+1 fic - three times where Anne wakes up Marcy by shifting in her sleep, and one time where it isn't Anne that wakes Marcy up.

The first time is when Marcy and Anne are much younger. Marcy's only just discovered her magic and has no idea that Anne can shapeshift yet. Marcy's staying with the Plantars for a sleepover and wakes up to find the Plantars' barn cat (Anne!) on her chest, and her friend, Anne the human, is nowhere to be found. She asks Anne about it in the morning.

The second time it happens, they're teenagers. Marcy is fully aware that Anne shapeshifts, but it still doesn't mentally prepare her for Anne shifting into human form in her sleep and promptly draping herself over Marcy lmao. She experiences several moments of gay panic before shaking Anne awake so that she can actually rest instead of nearly giving herself a heart attack.

The third time, Anne and Marcy are fully adults living independently together in Marcy's cute little witchy cottage on the edge of town. Anne stumbles in, exhausted from a long day helping out the Plantars and a longish night hunting (she's still somewhat of a cat yk), and flops down into their bed as she shifts, which ends up waking Marcy. The two of them chat for a bit about their days before turning in for some much-needed shut-eye.

And for the plus one,,, it's Sasha time! This scene occurs after Anne and Marcy help her to break her curse. Sasha ends up staying with them and becomes their queerplatonic partner, and part of that deal in their case means that all three of them get to cuddle in their massive bed every night. Sasha's tossing and turning ends up waking Marcy, and Marcy takes the opportunity to reflect on how much Sasha has changed in her time here and how fond Marcy and Anne have grown of her.

Annnnnd that was about all I had, I think! Sorry this took a bit to answer - had to jog my memory on some things hehe 😅

so i posted this wip of an animatic i’m not finishing to my other social medias and i guess i might as well post it here to. the grant talking to yeet scene was all i could think about for days after hearing it. it’s just such a profound and heartbreaking conversation about the cycle of depression, and being scarred to tell others what’s going on and how vulnerable you make yourself by telling people. ugh anthony is such a amazing story teller and i really appreciate that yeet rejected grant, so many stories try to give mentally ill people a partner to “fix” them. it’s refreshing to have a story where that’s not the case.
