After a very long time and a lot of consideration, I’ve decided to officially retire my previous BACC.
As most of you know by now, I’ve recently decided to go cc-lite and have deleted over 50gb of clothes, hairs and build & buy items. That means if I wanted to play Plumbob Falls again I’d have to make over every single sim and redo the majority of their houses.
I’m going to miss Plumbob Falls and all of my sims terribly, but I figured it was time for a fresh start. I will still be following PurzelSims’ ruleset with some of my own tweaks sprinkled in to better fit my play style. You can follow the tag #second chance bacc to stay up to date on the challenge.
So without further ado...
Welcome to Second Chance Bay, Pop. 6

Diversion - SCB - 2/?
pairing: officer changbin x femreader (korean native)
genre: angst, crime, s2l, eventual smut
word count: 4.4k
trigger warnings for this chapter only: alcohol (bar setting), a moment between strangers, some suggestive thoughts/dialogue (very mild)
rating: 18+/M
summary: Set a year after the events of Catalyst, officer seo visits Jeju to see old friends and get away from the city. He meets a local and finds out that someone can see everything he's hiding.
a/n: i forgot to mention previously, that the mc is a little older than changbin, catalyst mc, and hyunjin. they're probably 28ish? She's early thirties (hence being called eonnie). this is more the two of them than the overall plot/conflict. hopefully that's still interesting to you the reader. :) apologies for any missed mistakes!
series masterlist ~ ch 1
Chapter Two
You dont hear from Muddy Water until the next day. There’s a text inviting you back for a celebratory drink (she swears she’s perfected the new drinks) and pay for the bases you concocted.
You’ve spent most of the day going over inventory, tossing the ‘too old to sell’ tea, on the phone discussing new shipments for the tea varieties you can’t get locally. Since starting the shop you have cultivated some good relationships with local farmers of ujeon, matcha, and hongcha teas, but not every person who wanders into your doors wants local. Sometimes, they prefer assam, darjeeling, and others from across the ocean. It’s not your favorite part of the job; the finagling with farmers and vendors. You enjoy the offering of tea to a customer to smell or taste, to match the flavor and desire of each person who seeks something beyond grocer bagged tea.
Yena thinks it’s magic, but it’s just a lot of hard work and observation.
You reply that you’ll most likely come to the bar. Then you glance at the time. It’s been quiet today, perfect for all the administrative paperwork, but these months are lean for your business. Tourism brings in the crowds, the foreigners who want something from the beautiful island that’s easy to put in their suitcase. You’re sure some of the tea goes to waste, or is steeped at the wrong temperature which will ruin the flavor; but you hope some of it goes to people who enjoy it, savor and need it. Maybe they’ll remember your little shop when they have it months later.
You’re getting sidetracked again.
You push yourself off your chair, stretching and turning off the desk lamp. When you open the back door of your shop, Amadeus’s tail immediately thumps against the grass. You adjust your bag on your shoulder, the jars of chai and tea base, clinking with the movement.
“You could have let me know it was so late,” you chide him as you lock the back door. The front is already closed and shut down for the evening. You shiver against the chill of the fading sun. “Must be nice,” you continue as he heads toward your home, sure you will follow. You will because you left your jacket in the shop and it’s too much trouble to unlock and undo the alarm system. Easier to move briskly home. “Nice to have your coat on all the time.”
He glances back, completely unimpressed with your envy.
“You also look majestic 95% of the time with that fur.”
He stops abruptly and glances up.
“The other 5% is when you roll around in something you shouldn’t.”
He sniffs, offended before you both cross the street and slide through an alley shortcut. You wave at the few people out of their homes and businesses at this hour. Eight o’clock should be cleaning up dishes from a good and warm dinner. Perhaps a favorite television show to watch.
You unlock your backdoor to let in Amadeus who dutifully wipes his feet on your welcome rug. You do the same with your boots. He trots to his bowl and finishes up the water before standing expectantly for you to fill the other dish.
“Yes, yes, I’m getting there.” You turn on a few lamps and drop your bag on the wooden chair at the small table you usually eat breakfast at. You wash your hands before rummaging for his leftover food in the refrigerator. It takes a little bit longer than he’d like, but minus a few low whines; he’s patient.
Once he’s fed, it’s your turn. It’s not much, but kimchi and rice with a little sesame oil is enough for you. As you eat, you think about Muddy Water again, inputting pricing in your phone so you don’t forget, you also think about the man who showed up yesterday. That your newer friends know and hold in esteem. She hasn’t shared much about her life prior to Jeju; just that she’s from Busan, her family is gone and she wanted to start over on the island. When Hyunjin showed up, it took two seconds of her introducing him for you to understand that perhaps her leaving her home had something to do with him; the matter all mended by his move to be with her.
There are bits and pieces shared; they grew up together, complicated feelings that needed to be talked about but weren’t. It’s not that she’s cagey or even quiet; but she does seem to share only a little about life before Muddy Water.
So who is the man who walked in last night? Why would someone show up in November from elsewhere?
Maybe you’d ask her tonight. But small towns and villages like to imagine anything about a single woman over the age of thirty who asks about a man. It’s an unfortunate byproduct of a small community. Especially a community that knows you because you grew up here.
Sometimes you questioned your decision to stay where everything was familiar, instead of moving mainland and getting lost in the crowds.
Amadeus is curled up on the hearthrug when you gather your bag several minutes later. He raises his head at your movement.
“You can stay here. I don’t need an escort.”
He lays his head back down, eyes closing.
“Just a couple hours. If it’s much longer, maybe worry a little? Come find me.”
No response.
You sling your bag over your shoulder, lock up and make the short trek back to the bar. It’s nearly full dark now and you tug your jacket close as the wind picks up.
It’s a very different vibe tonight. The bar is full for the off season, some sporting event on the television, the tables and stools all filled up. You scan for your client or her partner before you seek a space at the bar at the far end. No empty seat, but enough space to set down your bag.
“You can sit here.”
You turn to immediately dismiss the chivalrous (possibly overshadowing the misogyny) and there he is.
He gestures to the empty stool he’s vacated, eyes meeting yours.
You decide to just nod your thanks and sit. He smiles slightly before waving down a bartender.
“I need to see–”
He nods. “She’s coming.”
And there she is in front of you.
“Eonnie!” She is all grins and delight. “I figured it out. Wait.” She turns to grab some bottles, including the sample jar you gave her yesterday. The ingredient you don’t expect is a cookie. You point to it, not speaking because the volume of the place is pretty overwhelming.
“Just wait.” She includes everything, shaking dry then with ice. She pours it into a nick & nora glass (you didn’t even know she had those at Muddy Water) then as a final touch, grates the cookie over the drink, adding crumbs. “Tea & Biscuits,” she announces.
You can’t help but smile at her enthusiasm. You are surrounded by mostly pints of beer. There’s a few tumblers of dark liquor, a few vodka & sodas.
No one would order this here.
You take a sip, the crumbles adding an interesting texture and flavor to the already spiced tea cocktail.
“Good?”
You nod, pushing it toward her. She shakes her head before glancing at the man still standing next to you. You follow her gaze. He’s nursing a beer, watching you both.
“Bin, you try it.”
“I…” he glances at you before the drink. “I don’t know if I’d appreciate something like this. I’m pretty basic with alcohol.”
She pouts at him and he sighs, reaching for the drink. The ‘put-upon’ expression of his makes you smile without effort. There is a lot of history there.
“Oh, eonnie, this is Seo Changbin. He’s…he’s from home,” she introduces quickly as he takes a sip. His face makes her laugh. “You weren’t lying about being basic.”
“It’s not bad,” he says reassuringly. “I just…there’s a lot going on.”
You don’t say anything, more content to observe.
“You don’t have taste, that’s all,” she retorts before resetting her instruments. To you: “We got a a small hotplate for Sweet Nothings.”
He coughs. “What?”
She doesn’t look at him, mixing the other ingredients for the bourbon drink. “Like the name?”
“Yes, actually. It’s cute. I don’t know if it’ll be requested much.”
“I already put it on the specials.” She winks at you. “I’ve made three.”
Even the locals can surprise you.
She sets the mug in front of you as her name is called from farther down the bar. She hurries away, leaving you with him.
You turn slightly toward him. You lift up the drink.
“Want to try?”
He shrugs and takes it from you. As he brings it to his lips, your eyes linger there. You hadn’t had the best vantage to see him yesterday, and you wouldn’t say the lighting in Muddy Water was very illuminating. He is very broad in his shoulders and chest, his face similar. But his mouth is all curves and red; a feminine contrast to the masculine torso.
His eyes close for a second when he tastes the cocktail.
“You like that one.”
His eyes open. “Well, it’s warm.” He sets it back down. “She didn’t have a chance to mention…” He pauses, thinking as someone hollers from across the bar. You watch as he goes still, alert. The way hes been standing has also caught your attention. He never has his back to the door. He faces you, or he faces out toward the main part of the building.
Always alert.
“Mention?” you prompt him after a few. The yelling that had made him go still is no longer, but he takes his time letting go of that readiness.
When his eyes fall back on you, you’re taking a sip of the warm cocktail. His eyes dart to the rim of the mug then to your shoulder.
You’d donned a loose thin sweater under your jacket, which has the tendency to slip off your shoulder, baring skin.
So simple a thing to have taken his notice.
“Oh. Right.” He seems to remember, his eyes moving to your face as though he’d been caught. “I’m staying at the hotel down the street, but I’d like to not pay quite so much as I think…I think I might be here for awhile.”
“Really? Not much to do in Jejudo in the winter.”
“I’m okay with that.”
You’re struck again that he looks like he carries a heavy weight on his shoulders, his eyes a bit dull from fatigue.
“She said that since you’ve lived here your whole life, you’d know where I might rent a room? Just a bed and a bathroom is fine.”
“Not my whole life.”
There’s a slight uplift of his lips at your mild petulance. “Forgive me.”
“I lived in Seoul.”
His manner relaxes and he leans against the bar, facing you. “For how long?”
“Two years. Of university.”
“Usually university takes a little longer than that.”
You shrug as you continue drinking, savoring the flavors. “I didn’t exactly enjoy university.”
He grins. “I didn’t either.” He swallows some beer. “So you came back?”
“The island suits me.” You study him for a few seconds. “I have a space that you could rent. Small kitchen you could use, a private bathroom.”
His eyes widen. “You have a space? You in real estate?”
“No, just some good investments. Surely they told you, I only do tea.”
“They mentioned it.” He points to your mug. “You seem to do it well.”
Another shrug. “Come by my shop tomorrow. I’ll show you the room and my teas.”
“Not really a tea drinker.”
“Not yet.”
The quick reply makes him pause in the journey of his glass to his lips. “Oh?”
You recognize the banter, the playful and light sparring going on. You delight in it, even if it’s no more than that.
“Challenge accepted,” you say.
“Hmmm.” He takes another sip of his beer, his eyes not leaving you. If you were more reckless, you would let the night, the alcohol, and his little smirk lead you down the path to a hotel room, to hurried whispers and wandering hands.
But you aren’t as reckless with yourself much anymore.
You smile before pulling out the large bottles of the tea bases which was your sole reason for coming here.
Eventually she returns to your side of the bar and you transact money for the bottles. Your cocktail is finished and you stand to head home.
“Let me walk you home.” He follows you out the door where it’s easier to hear.
“This isn’t the big city of Busan,” you answer. “I do fine.”
“Yes, but….” he trails off when he sees Amadeus bounding up to the front of the bar. “You have your own bodyguard.”
Amadeus slows at the sight of him, eyes darting to you then to the newcomer. He’s not threatened, but he’s careful.
To someone who doesn’t know your dog, they might believe Amadeus is hostile.
Seo Changbin doesn’t move. “I feel like he might eat me.”
You hold in your laugh. “He hasn’t had human for a meal in many years.” You watch the man as he stares at your dog. “Not a dog person?”
“Not not a dog person. Just haven’t had a lot of interaction. Didn’t have pets growing up.” He raises his hand in offering but Amadeus doesn’t move from in between you and Changbin. “Can you tell him I’m not dangerous?”
“I don’t know if even I know that, Mr. Seo.”
Changbin’s eyes dart from Amadeus to you. “That’s fair.”
There is something endearing about this broad, incredibly fit man being so careful about not upsetting Amadeus.
“Amadeus doesn’t really understand what I say anyway, just my tone. He’s more of an action creature.” You rest your hand on Amadeus’s head before moving back toward the man on the stoop of the bar.
There’s a question in his eyes as you get close, eyes that widen intensely when you touch his cheek with your hand.
“He’ll understand this,” you say softly before pressing your lips to his. It’s all of a second, but you feel his breath as his lips part in an exhale. You draw back, meeting his eyes. “I think he gets it now.” You see that Amadeus has indeed relaxed his stance, tail wagging.
Changbin hasn’t looked away from you.
“I’ll be at the shop all day tomorrow. Come by anytime. G’night.” You step down the few steps to the sidewalk and start back toward your home. Amadeus keeps up with you, and you look back once to see that Changbin has slipped his hands into his jean pockets, but hasn’t moved from the front of Muddy Water.
Maybe you still are a little reckless.
–
Your assistant, Sheon, is off today, so you stay in the front part of your shop, rearranging a few displays and pondering if you should expand your selection of teapots and other accessories, maybe add in the aesthetic of European tea time as well.
The door opens and you know it’s him without looking. His presence, now no longer overwhelmed by so many people and noise in a bar, is strong. Burdened.
“Welcome,” you smile at him. He’s much more casual today; joggers and a hoodie. His hair is messy as though the wind is his only hair product.
“I don’t think I realized the amount of tea that could fit into one building.” His eyes take in the rows of clear jars, name plates on the wall. You laugh at his incredulity. He turns to you then, an answering smile. “It’s just tea.”
“That's very rude of you,” you say, walking over with a dust cloth still in hand. “Do you say the same about a winery? Or tavern with twenty taps?”
His lips purse in thought, and your attention drifts for a second.
“I mean, probably. It all tastes the same to me.”
You shake your head. “That might be the saddest thing I’ve heard.” You tilt your head toward the middle of the room where an electric kettle sits. “Come, I’ll fix you something.”
“Look, I don’t want to be rude, but I won’t appreciate it–”
You gesture to the stool at the table for him to sit. “I promise not to have too high of expectations, but you don’t feel well today and I think I can help.”
He straightens even as he sits. “I’m not…”
“You have a headache?” you continue, filling and starting the kettle before walking over to your wall of teas. “In the back, near the top of your neck, right? You sound a little stuffy too.”
“I…”
You come back with a ginger, lavender, and chamomile tea. You start to scoop it into your everyday teapot.
“How did you know?”
You look up at him. “Well, the voice, I can hear the congestion. But the way you’re holding your head today. You’ve rubbed the back of your neck twice since you’ve come in.”
He half-grins, a twist of his lips. “You could be a detective with that level of observation.”
His words make you stop. “That’s what you do.” You breathe, a piece of the puzzle falling into place.
Those eyes widen yet again. “What?”
“I wondered if it was military training. The way you never have your back to an open door.” You point to how he’s moved the stool so he’s angled more toward your front door.
“I did my enlistment young.” He runs a hand through his hair. “But…”
“But it didn’t seem like quite the rigidity of high-level military.” You glance at the glass kettle as the water rolls with the heat. “Police officer.”
He seems more tense with your words. “It’s not something I really advertise.”
You nod. “I can see why. People are different with those in law enforcement.” You meet his gaze. “I won’t shout it from the rooftops.”
The shoulders relax just a touch. “Why not?”
“It isn’t my place.” You pour the hot water into the teapot, breathing in the sharpness of the ginger and comfort of the lavender. “I imagine that you need a vacation from that job both physically and mentally.”
He shrugs, his focus on you setting the tea cups on the small table, spooning in honey. “It’s been awhile since I’ve taken time off.”
“Hence the fact you feel unwell. Your body is probably recouping after working so much. You might feel ill for several days.” You point to his shoulders. “You hold a lot of tension there.”
“Is this what you do?” he asks, voice a little edgy. “Diagnose people who walk in?”
“Only the ones who are childhood friends with my friends.”
He takes a deep breath. “Sorry.”
“I’m not offended, Mr. Seo. No need for apologies.”
He fiddles with his phone on the table top, a nervous energy. “Please call me Changbin.”
You pour the tea into the two cups, stirring the honey, and then offer him one. “It’s a consequence of my field. Interacting with so many people, recognizing that tea can be healing if I can sense what’s wrong.”
“It’s interesting. You’re a bit like a bartender.”
You laugh at that. “I don’t know if they’d have me at Muddy Water.”
He chuckles before bringing the tea to his mouth, inhaling it.
“Much like wine, the scent is important too.”
He nods before taking a sip. “Not bad.” He takes another drink before setting it down. “Probably better than numbing it all with alcohol.”
“Once and awhile I think numbing is good. Just not all the time.”
His smile is bright. “Once a week, doc? Every other day?”
It’s you who are taken off guard. The smile is in contrast with the tension, the heaviness, and the imposing physique.
“Hmmm. For you? On vacation, hopefully as little as possible. Maybe just alcohol for the mere enjoyment.”
He laughs. “That’s how I see food. Not drink usually.”
“Oh? You a foodie?”
He shakes his head. “I just like food.”
“I’ll have to give you some of my favorite places to eat around here.” You also take a few sips of the tea. It soothes some of your lingering questions about renting to this man. There’s a lot you don’t know, but you don’t think it’s worrying in a way that you’ll regret.
You might just be blinded by that smile.
He takes more of the tea.. “It really is alright.” He lifts the cup to indicate what he’s talking about. “So, what else do you see? Childhood trauma? Secret underground ring of D&D sessions?”
He seems most at ease when teasing and joking.
“You’re conflicted.”
“Sorry?”
“Something you struggle with. Something burdens you. It’s like you carry extra weight on your shoulders.” You shrug. “I suppose most people do, yours just seems to be at the forefront in your mind.”
His mouth is partially open as he stares at you.
“Finish your tea and I’ll show you the loft.” You start to clean the teapot of the used leaves. It’s quiet as you do, him drinking his tea, looking around your shop. You move to fill a small bag of the tea you’ve just made before handing it to him. “For you.”
“I can pay for it.”
“I’m sure you can. But as you are skeptical of tea, take it and drink it the next few days and see if it helps. If it doesn’t, well, you’ve not spent your money frivolously. If it does, you’ll buy some.”
He takes it from you, expression a little wary. “You’re that confident?”
“In tea? Yes. In your acquiescence? I don’t know how stubborn you might be.”
The smile is crooked. “Thanks.”
“Come, the loft is upstairs.”
“Wait,” He slides off the stool, finishing up the tea as he does. “It’s here?”
“Yes.” You lead him to the back room and through a door to the stairs. He follows, a presence at your back. The spiral staircase turns almost 360 degrees to reach the top floor.
“Ever slide down the banister?”
You turn to look at him as he reaches the landing.
“I haven’t. Obviously I missed out.”
That sparkle is muted, but there in his eyes. You like it.
“You did.”
You open the door into the bedroom. It’s fairly neutral in color and style, something palatable to the general masses as you like to rent it out during the high season. The headboard on the bed is carved by a local artist, depicting Hallasan mountain. The few pictures on the walls also portray local landscape in pencil sketches and watercolors. Hopefully, it’s a calming room.
“Generally, I don't get as much traffic during the winter, but there will be business going on downstairs, possibly when you might want to sleep in, I’m not sure of your schedule.”
“I wish I could sleep in. I haven’t been able to since police university.” He wanders the few feet of space. “Why don’t you live here? Quickest commute ever.”
“I did. In the beginning. But it’s called work-life balance. If i live where i work…” you sigh. “I’m always working.”
He pokes his head into the bathroom.
“If you want a tub, I’m afraid you’re out of luck. The public baths are nice though.”
He draws back to meet your gaze. “Do I seem like a bath-type person?”
Does he mean to encourage your mind that direction?
“I couldn’t say.”
“Hmm.” He smirks again before sitting on the bed. “It’s nice. Nicer than I hoped.”
“Downstairs is the small kitchen. It’s primarily for teas and such, but there’s space in the refrigerator. I really can’t imagine I’ll get so busy that I’ll need all the appliances at any time.”
“I’m not much of a cook.” He admits. “Maybe some protein shakes, things like that.”
“That doesn’t really sound vacation-y.” You head back to the stairs. You hear him behind you.
“Know of any good gyms in town?” he asks as you lead him to the kitchen. It’s all in shades of green and white, summer green even when it’s cold and grey outside.
“There are two. I have no idea what entails a ‘good’ gym.”
He chuckles before opening the fridge. “Guess you don’t lift?”
“Not even a little.”
“Are these all teas?” His shock reminds you that it might be time to clear out the mixes that have been there too long.
“Bases. Experiments. Like what I brought to Muddy Water last night. Sometimes people don’t want just tea. They want something sweeter or more exciting, so I figure out other ways to present tea to them.”
He nods and closes the refrigerator door. “If you’re really okay with it, I’ll take the room.”
Of course.” You gesture for him to come back to the main part of the store. You pull out a simple rent contract. “If you want to go over it on your own and bring it with you when you come to move in, that’s fine.”
His eyes scan over the document. “Pretty straight forward.” He looks up at you. “You’re not trying to con me or anything?”
“I would hardly admit to if I was, Mr. Seo.”
“Changbin, please.”
“Changbin.” You watch as he signs it, his handwriting messy and large. You wonder when he’s well-rested if he’s louder, a bigger presence than he seems at the moment.
“Can I move in later today?”
“I’m here until six today.” You open the locked drawer beneath the POS screen. “But here’s a key for the back door and your room. That way you don’t have to see me at all if you wish.”
“Why would I wish that?”
It’s off the cuff, how he responds to that. Instinctual teasing, but his immediate reaction to his own words tells you he’s surprised at himself.
“I…” He straightens up, “That was…I'm sorry if that offended you at all.”
You can’t help it, he looks worried, so you reach out and lay your hand on his. He glances at the contact.
“Not offended.” You squeeze his hand and let go. “I’m glad you’re staying here.”
He’s blushing and it actually twists something in you, making you both parts endeared and also keyed up. It isn’t like you to be so interested in such a short acquaintance. You like your life in its quiet simplicity.
“I hope you get to relax too.”
The blush fades as he keeps your gaze. You know you aren’t wrong. This man has seen things, dark and horrible things, and something is currently preying on him.
You hope he might find a confidante in you.
You wonder if you’ll be able to handle it.

Have you ever seen the SuperCarlinBrothers series on what if Harry had been in Slytherin?
Got any thoughts on if differing house would have changed anything in an interesting way?
I did listen to it a while ago (I put their videos as podcasts sometimes while I'm drawing or doing something else), and I agree with some of them and disagree with other parts.
The first year is probably the one I agree with them most on and the further in the story we go the more our visions diverge. Obviously, this is a what-if scenario and therefore almost entirely made up of speculation and headcanon, and even in my own mind I don't have a single true version of how it'll go since there are tons of potential variations and many fics about this.
If there's interest I could write, like, an outline of what if Harry got sorted into Slytherin fic I'd probably never write, but there are a lot of variations in this what-if and it's going to need to be split into multiple posts that detail what I think is likely, what could happen and what I'd like to happen if Harry was sorted into Slytherin.
Because, like, there are so many ways this could go and still be possible. Like, this what-if is essentially 30,000 different what-ifs in a trench coat. Because like, how would Snape react? It's possible he'd be nicer to a Slytherin Harry, and then that changes book 1 quite drastically. But it's equally possible the similarity to James Potter would override that. Both are equally plausible for this what-if. And what would Dumbledore do? Would he do something at all or more likely, just watch with growing concern and hope this isn't another Tom Riddle but keep the test of book 1 going, to see what kind of person Harry is (I think the second is more likely because Dumbledore tends to hope, so he'll hope Harry is a Gryffindor deep down and Harry telling him he sees his parents in the mirror of Erised would confirm it to Dumbledore). And I wonder how kind Hagrid would be to this sorting, I mean, the fandom doesn't talk about it much, but Hagrid definitely has a favorite house considering he's the one who told Harry: "There was not a single witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin", so, I don't think Hagrid would be as friendly to Harry if Harry was in Slytherin, which means no Hagrid spilling info about Fluffy and the trials in book 1 (Harry would still learn all that information, but it'd be from a different source). But it's possible Hagrid would look past it since Harry is the son of James and Lily and he can't be bad.
And I think Harry will make friends within Slytherin, like, I disagree with SCB about that, I don't think all of them would be assholes. I also think Harry is more of a social chameleon than SCB gave him credit for. He acts the way we see him act because he mirrors Ron's behavior a lot of the time (especially in first year), in Slytherin, he'd try to mimic the Slytherin's behavior, so he wouldn't necessarily be that much of an outsider (he'd still have his sass, Harry should have his sass in every AU). I don't see him ever becoming a blood purist, but I can see a Slytherin Harry being a bit more aloof and carrying himself a little differently. I mentioned here, here, and here, how Harry can be colder and ruthless when push comes to shove, there's a reason the hat offered Slytherin. I do agree with SCB, that it's likely Harry would still be friends with Ron and possibly also Hermione, but even here there are different possibilities depending on what we change so Harry would get sorted into Slytherin in the first place. The story of the books could change a lot, but also barely change at all, depending on how you choose to interrupt certain characters and decisions.
The point is, there are a ton of moving parts and I don't really have a singular answer to how I think the books would go if Harry was in a different house. I have, like, this tree of possibilities.

The incomplete HAWAII (CB-3) being moved to a berth, likely on her way to the scrapyard. Photographed on either May 20 or June 20, 1959. Likely the latter since the Navy Heritage and History Center has a better track record with dates.
Note: her 12 inch/50 caliber Mark 8 gun turrets have already been removed. They were removed in preparation for Hawaii would have become an Aircraft Carrier Task Force Command Ship, under SCB-83 and her hull designation changed to (CBC-1). Unlike the proposed ballistic and guided missile conversions, this conversion was budgeted in 1952.
Painting by Wayne Scarpaci
"This was as parallel to this program was a project to convert the unfinished Oregon City class heavy cruiser NORTHAMPTON (CLC-1) (later CC-1, ex-CA-125) to a National Emergency Command Post Afloat (NECPA). The NECPA program command ship (NORTHAMPTON) was where the US President and his Staff would direct US Military Forces during a nuclear conflict."
"Command and control of USN carrier forces during WWII was generally conducted from a standard vessel of the Task Force, with either a battleship or a carrier usually designated as flagship. But the presence of the force commander and his staff aboard was disruptive and resulted in overcrowded conditions, which impacted the combat effectiveness of the assigned ship. But with the superiority of the dedicated Amphibious Command Ship (AGC) concept for command and control of assault forces repeatedly demonstrated during WWII. Serious postwar consideration was given to the concept of a similar dedicated type of ship for Command and Control of Carrier Task Forces. In keeping with this concept in 1952 the USN developed the SCB-83 project to convert the HAWAII into a dedicated Carrier Task Force Command Cruiser (CBC-1). This design was strictly intended as a single mission ship featuring extensive flag facilities for command and control of carrier task forces, but no accommodations for amphibious or other types of operations.
The ship would have been armed with six 5 inch/54 caliber guns in single mounts, shipped three forward and three aft, with eight 3 inch/70 caliber guns in four enclosed twin mounts amidships. It would have fitted an AN/SPS2 radar atop a forward tower and an AN/SPS8A height finder on the aft superstructure. There was to be an SK-2 parabolic dish for tropospherical backscatter communications mounted atop short tower aft of the stack, forward of the AN/SPS8A. Two Mk37/directors with Mk25 fire control radars were provided on the superstructure fore and aft. The superstructure was built up amidships to accommodate the flag staff facilities and the single stack of the original CB design retained."
Work was halted after the turrets were removed and would continue after experience was gained from the conversion of NORTHAMPTON. However, it was discovered that it was easier and cheaper to convert USS WRIGHT (CVL-49) into the second Command ship without the loss of capability and HAWAII was sent back to the reserve fleet in Philadelphia Navy Yard.
The hull remained in the reserve fleet for 12 years before it was finally scrapped along with the incomplete hulls of KENTUCKY (BB-66) and ILLINOIS (BB-65).

Heterologous boosting of neutralizing activity against Delta and Omicron SARS-CoV-2 variants in CoronaVac-primed adults; a randomized study with SCB-2019 vaccine
Preliminary report; Background: The global COVID-19 pandemic has peaked but some countries such as China are reporting serious infectious outbreaks due to SARS-CoV-2 variants. Waning vaccine-derived immunogenicity and mutations in variants allowing vaccine evasion require new booster immunization approaches. We compared homologous and heterologous boosting in adults previously fully primed with a whole-virus inactivated COVID-19 vaccine. Methods: At multiple sites in the Philippines we enrolled 430 adults (18-72 years) immunized with two doses of CoronaVac at least 3 months previously and randomly assigned them to receive homologous (CoronaVac, n = 216) or heterologous (recombinant protein vaccine, SCB-2019, n = 214) booster doses. Non-inferiority/superiority of the neutralizing antibody (NAb) response 15 days after boosting was measured by microneutralization against prototype SARS-CoV-2, and Delta and Omicron variants in subsets (50 per arm). Participants recorded solicited local and systemic adverse events for 7 days, unsolicited AEs until Day 29, and serious adverse events until Day 60. Results: NAb geometric mean titers (GMT) against prototype on Day 15 were 744 (95% CI: 669-828) and 164 (143-189) in heterologous and homologous groups, respectively, with a heterologous/homologous GMT ratio of 4.63 (3.95-5.41), meeting both pre-defined non-inferiority and superiority criteria. Similarly, geometric mean-fold rises for NAb against Delta and Omicron BA.1, BA.2, BA.4 and BA.5 variants were superior after heterologous SCB-2019 (range 3.01-4.66) than homologous CoronaVac (range 0.85-1.6) in an exploratory analysis. Reactogenicity and safety measures were evenly balanced between groups; the most frequent local reaction was mild or moderate injection site pain; mild or moderate headache and fatigue were the most frequent systemic adverse events. No vaccine-related serious adverse events were reported. Conclusion: Heterologous boosting of CoronaVac-immunized adults with SCB-2019 was well tolerated with superior immunogenicity than homologous boosting, particularly for newly emerged variants, supporting use of SCB-2019 for booster vaccination. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.12.06.22283103v1?rss=1%22&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=tumblr Read more ↓

Everyone returned to camp around dinnertime with over 700 simoleons’ worth of goodies to sell.
“Niya got lucky. They had all of the bites,” Paxton told the group.
“Oh, don’t worry,” Niya teased playfully. “I’m sure the fish had nothing against you personally. And you did get some catnip stuck on your line. I’m sure that’s useful for... something.”
Everyone laughed.
Paxton looked annoyed.
“I got fossils, a treasure map and upgrade parts,” Shane said importantly, feeling as if he was being left out of the banter and small talk. “Pretty sure that fossil over there is worth over 70 simoleons all on its own.”
“That’s great! Everyone is doing so well!” Betty replied cheerfully, clapping her hands together. “We can accomplish so much when we all band together.”

genre: angst, crime, s2l, eventual smut
word count: 4k
trigger warnings for this chapter only: alcohol (mostly takes place at a bar)
rating: 18+/M
summary: Set a year after the events of Catalyst, officer seo visits Jeju to see old friends and get away from the city. He meets a local and finds out that someone can see everything he's hiding.
a/n: this is changbin from my hyunjin mafia story catalyst, you don't have to have read that to understand this story. anyway changbin was so lovely whenever he was on the page that i wanted to write him in his own story. this is also a longer piece than most of what i write. i'm challenging myself to expand and detail and tell a slower story. so, slow burn warning here. notes at the end as well.
series masterlist
Chapter One
It’s an unearthly quiet. You can hear the waves, your steps upon the sand, even the snuffling sound Amadeus makes when he’s sure he’s found an errant crab. But other than that, even the cars seem to be quiet today.
November in Jeju is oddly one of your favorites. Maybe it’s a bit elitist of you, but not having your home overrun with tourists seeking sun, beach, and tangerines is a welcome reprieve. Your very livelihood depends on those tourists to be sure, but when the weather grows colder, the masses go back to their regular lives and you are content to have the space and the quiet again. The air smells of salt and cold, and you tug your scarf around your face again as the wind likes to play with it.
Amadeus prefers the winter months as well. His coat is well-suited for the chill. You once gave him a shave to survive the summer, but he’d looked undignified and you knew that he was disappointed in you for even making that decision. His fur grew back, and you make sure he has plenty of water during those hot months and your walks together are before the sun comes up and late into the night so you both can beat the heat.
He rubs against your leg as though he knows you’re thinking of him (he probably does) and it surprises you so much that you stumble, almost dropping your bag.
You tsk at him but his querlous look tells you that it’s hardly his fault that you can’t be trusted to walk firmly.
He really can be such a judgmental soul.
“Don’t give me that look. You didn’t have to come.”
He snorts derisively and continues leading the way. You readjust your bag to your other shoulder, wincing at the knot at your shoulder blade that is definitely in need of some focus and pampering.
Maybe you spent a bit too much time at your stove again.
But you hurry to keep up with the sure-footed canine in front of you. He leaves the sand and the rocks to the road, ever mindful of the few cars that zoom by. You catch up with him, bending down to brush some of the sand from his ears and head as you both wait to cross toward town. He lets you before shaking you off and continuing on.
Muddy Water is situated at an ideal spot for a local bar: outskirts of the picturesque village, only meters from the ocean. It’s set in a curve of the island that protects from the most severe weather.
You glance at the sky, though the overcast day means it’s hard to pinpoint the exact location of the sun.
It’s early for a drink, but Muddy Water opens for late lunch until one in the morning, though often winter influences all small business owners to close early. The locals aren’t usually going to be up partying past ten.
Amadeus pads up the stoop to the front doors and then settles to the left side. He rests his head on his front paws, only raising his head once you’re at the doors.
“I’ll let him know you’re here too.”
You swear he smiles at the knowledge he’ll probably get fed something all too good for a dog.
You enter and blink a few times as the brightness of the winter day fades to the ambient lighting of the bar.
You hear your name before you see Yena behind the long bar, waving at you. You smile at the ever-bright and cheerful bartender. Woodz (which he prefers to be called as his music career slowly grows) is on the other end, serving the local solicitor and realtor. You nod your head at the two men, but don’t go anywhere near them.
The way they run their businesses is very different than how you run yours.
“What’s in your bag of goodies?” Yena asks with delight. You laugh as you take a seat on the stool right across from where she stands. She sets down a glass of water, before leaning against the smooth, worn wood of the bar. “We’re almost out of–”
You set two sealed jars on the bar, the thunking sound a little more aggressive than the pints of beer being consumed on the other end.
“You knew?”
You could let her think that you had some kind of sixth sense about your wares and the needs of clients, but…
“Your boss let me know.”
Yena looks a little disappointed that you didn’t just suss that out of the air. She takes the two jars and places them on the shelf next to a few bottles of red wine that Muddy Water likes to carry.
“Speaking of, is your boss around?”
Yena turns back to you with a small knowing grin. You raise your eyebrows in question as she pulls two empty jars and sets them before you. You appreciate that the bar remembers to save them once they’re empty.
“She’s in the office.”
“Working?”
Yena usually isn’t this cryptic. It’s not like you have major plans later, but you don’t like to leave your assistant that long in the shop alone.
“With her other bartender.”
Now you understand the knowing smile. You sigh and rest your chin in your hand.
“I would hate to interrupt anything between the two of them. But they might just be working?”
Yena snorts, a bit more high-pitched and cute than Amadeus’s.
“You don’t have to see his heart eyes all the time, every time he looks at her.”
“Jealous?”
“Yes.” Yena purses her lips. “Not really of him, well, I mean, look at him.”
Yes, you’ve looked.
“But more just having someone that gone over you, you know?”
Yena didn’t grow up here, but she has been around for almost a decade. It’s only since she’s been at the bar that you’ve gotten to know her better. You know more about her relationships than you want, but that was kinda what people did…they shared a lot with you.
“I think Lee Chan very much was ‘that gone’ over you.”
She pouts. “You’re probably right. I think I screwed that one up a little too well.” She brushes it off with a shake of her head. “What can I get you to drink? While you’re waiting for our bosslady?”
You eye the shelves like you always do, looking for something that sparks. Muddy Water has an array of liquors, though it’s not posh by any means. You don’t mind that as a good spirit doesn’t require a huge price tag most of the time.
“Whatever well bourbon you have. Maybe cognac too?”
Yena shakes her head. “You always want the cheapest stuff.”
“If it tastes good with the cheapest stuff, it’ll taste good with the most expensive.” You aren’t a mixologist by any means, and Muddy Water is more for the beer and soju crowd; but it’s a fun thing that you and the owner have come up with in the short time she’s been on the island.
Yena sets an empty glass, a tumbler with about two fingers of cognac and another similar amount of bourbon. You pull out two small jars from your own bag, setting them next to the glasses. Yena reaches for one.
“Can I?”
You nod, taking the other and pulling out the cork. You smell it, picking up on the peppercorns and vanilla. You take the cognac and sniff it as well. Your nose wrinkles and you set it down. You take the bourbon and do the same.
Better.
“Is it chai?” Yena asks of the other jar. “You can just make chai?”
You don’t answer her verbally, but lift up one eyebrow. She shrugs.
“What you do is like magic.”
“Hardly,” you answer, before tipping a little of the jar you hold into the bourbon. Precise measurements will come later. Right now, you just need to see if it complements each other. You swirl the dark liquid in the glass and smell it again. You offer it to Yena.
“It smells spicy.”
You nod, before taking back the glass and taking a tiny sip. The face you make pulls a laugh from your observer.
“Not good?”
“No, just not right.” You sip it again, ready for the harsh bite and let it linger on your tongue. “It needs muting.”
“Water?”
“Milk, or your alternate non-dairy option.”
Yena doesn’t look convinced but she goes to grab your request from the prep fridge opposite the realtor and solicitor. You watch as the two men, of a certain age, eyeball the younger bartender with lascivious intent. The music playing in Muddy Water at this early hour is softer than the nightly tunes, often live from local musicians, so the men hear your throat clearing very well.
They both look over, realize that it’s you and the mix of disgust and disdain pleases you almost as much as the scent of the mixed bourbon in front of you. They look away, back toward each other and continue their oh so important business conversation.
Yena returns with the milk carton and sets it amongst your glasses. You pour in about a finger, swirl yet again.
“Any way of heating up with milk prior to pouring?” you ask as you take another sip. Closer. The mellow combination of flavors works nicely.
“This isn’t a coffee shop. We have a microwave.”
That hurts your very soul.
“Yena, what are you–” The voice interrupts itself as you make out Muddy Water’s owner coming from the back of the building. Her hair is in mild disarray, evidence to Yena earlier supposition about the owner and still absent bartender. “Eonnie!”
You greet her with a grin. “Busy doing paperwork, then?”
The absent bartender, Hyunjin, also enters from the back, his hair slightly more in place, but it’s close. He also smiles when he sees you.
“Is he here?” he asks and you can’t be bothered that he doesn’t actual greet you.
“He’s outside. Waiting for you.”
Hyunjin is all glee as he grabs the designated bowl behind the bar, and a small canister that you know houses dog treats. He’s already calling through the front doors to your companion. You can almost hear the thumping of Amadeus’s tail against the wooden porch.
Yena brings the conversation back to what you two were up to. “She wants us to heat the milk. I don’t think we can. Unless we do it in the kitchen?”
You offer the mixed glass to her. You know her palate is far more advanced than Yena’s so as much as you like the young bartender, it’s the owner’s thoughts you really want to hear.
She sips it much like you did, very little and just lets it sit on her tongue for a few seconds.
“Yes, warmed,” she says before taking another sip. “And a little sweet, I think. Just a little simple…” She looks around and grabs the bottle of clear liquid. She tilts it in for one count. You know from your time with her that it’s equal to about a fourth of an ounce. She sips it again. Adds more.
Then offers it back to you.
The sweet does round it out nicely.
“What is the tea?” she asks you as you nod your approval.
“Rooibos. It’s dark like a black tea, but no caffeine. This would be a good, before sleep kind of drink. I added peppercorns and vanilla.” You touch the small jar, and cork it before pushing it over. “I was thinking of more wintery type flavors and came up with this and the other.”
Yena has gotten bored, you think, and walked down to another patron, who seems far less concerning than the ‘upstanding’ citizens of earlier.
“What’s the other?”
You uncork it and offer it to her.
“Smells like chai.”
“It is. Or my version of it.” You take it back before administering a tiny amount to cognac. You’ve probably already been here longer than you thought, but it’s nice at this hour, before the after supper and after work people drift in like Muddy Water is a homing beacon. You taste the new mix and wrinkle your nose.
She takes it from you. Her expression is more thoughtful than yours at first drink.
“Needs…” She moves to the back of the bar. “What’s in it exactly?”
“Cardamom, fennel, black tea.”
She spins around with a ‘eureka’ type grin and brings over a bottle of bitters.
“I have cardamom bitters.” She dispenses three drops of the bitter and takes another taste. “That helps.” She pushes it to you as she goes back to the bar, looking among the many additions and cordials, and spirits. “What about almond?”
“Maybe. But not amoretto. I think that might overpower.”
She nods without looking back at you. You smell it again.
“Citrus too.”
She brings over a bottle of orgeat and bottles of lemon and lime juice. She puts in one count of the orgeat and then holds the two bottles of juices, looking at you for direction.
“Lemon I think.”
“I think the same,” she concurs and adds two counts. She stirs it with a bar spoon and tries it yet again.
You go to try it but she stops you.
“Hold on.”
It’s fun to watch someone who enjoys their work. You wonder if anyone stopping by your shop would think the same of you, though they don’t get to see the experimentation as much, just the results on shelves for sale.
“What are you adding?”
“Egg white.”
You know that’s common in cocktails, but the idea still throws you. She shakes it together without ice, then adds ice, shakes and strains it back into the same glass. She hands it to you for first taste.
You sniff it before trying.
“It has such a nice froth.”
“That’s the egg whites.” She grins widely. “So yeah?”
“I think so. Maybe something interesting for a garnish, but I’ll leave that to you and your experts.”
She chuckles before trying the cocktail herself. “Mmmm. Yeah. I like it.” She points to the bottles. “How much?”
“Oh…you can price the drinks. I need to figure out cost and supply. I was just daydreaming in my kitchen.”
The door opens and Hyunjin returns.
“I think he’s ready to go home,” he tells you as he passes by to go behind the bar where his partner is. He pauses at the drinks. “New?”
She eagerly offers them both to him, explaining each. He sips both, enjoying both sets of flavors, but you notice how he watches her as she continues to suggest maybe a food pairing with the chai cognac. His eyes are incredibly fond and warm.
People in love are both beautiful and annoying.
“He’s right,” you interrupt. “Amadeus and I should probably head back. Let me know final thoughts, okay?” You start to stand up from the bar stool when the door opens again.
“You know there’s a wolf outside, right?”
The voice is unfamiliar and highly concerned, and the brightness of the outside light let in means you can’t see the newcomer for several seconds. It’s a voice with a raspy quality, like the beginnings of winter have already dried out his throat.
“Seo?” is the first response. From Hyunjin who with Muddy Water’s owner are staring at the person like he’s a ghost.
He doesn’t seem ghost-like. He seems incredibly solid. Broad in the shoulders, you get the sense that he carries more than just his own physical weight. It’s an immediate thought, one you have knowing you know nothing about this person, but it’s there nonetheless.
“Changbin,” she says before moving out from behind the bar to walk up to him. The man’s face softens as she gets close, a relaxing of his entire posture.
“Hey little Park.”
She hugs him, tight and without any sort of hesitation. You relax as well, not even realizing that his intrusion made you watchful, tense.
“What are you doing here?” she asks as she lets go of him. You watch as Hyunjin also rounds the bar to greet the stranger.
You take their distraction as a blessing, and slip by the three as they chat quietly. You feel his eyes swept over you, an awareness that you are there and leaving.
Amadeus is up on all fours when you get outside.
“Did you scare him?” you ask before starting down the steps, back the way you came. Amadeus gives no clear answer, but you think your companion trots a little too giddily.
—
It’s a relief to see her like this. Still in her element, but beyond bright, healthy and happy. Changbin glances up to see Hyunjin eyeing him in a very familiar way: amiable, but certainly skeptical.
It’s been awhile, but Hwang hasn’t lost his syndicate instincts. Changbin wouldn’t expect him to.
“I’m on vacation,” he replies to her question, focusing back on the girl he’s known since middle school. When he found himself running alongside the rest of them: Lee, Bang, and Han. The rest had been around the syndicate for awhile, families intertwined, but Changbin just stumbled into their world. “I’ve accrued a bit too much time off, so they’re kinda forcing me to get lost.” He hopes his smile covers anything that might make either of them suspicious. “And well, Jeju is where my favorite Park lives. Wanted to make sure he,” he nods at Hyunjin, “was treating you right.”
Even being on the outskirts of the organization, it was obvious to him how Hwang felt about the former president’s daughter. It was after the fact that Hwang stepped down that Changbin found out about it, but it hadn’t taken much of his investigative skills to find where the two ended up.
Which concerned him.
“Knew you weren’t here to see me,” Hwang retorts, tugging her close to his side.
“Sure? You’ve always been pretty,” Changbin responds with a wink at the taller man. “Kinda missed that face.”
He gets an exasperated sigh and eye-roll, which tells him that Hwang has definitely eased a little. Which is what Changbin needs right now.
She grabs him by the wrist, leading him to the bar. He follows, looking around, taking in the patrons, the set-up. It’s very different than Circus in Busan, but the vibe still feels like the two of them, just planted elsewhere.
He sits on a stool as she sits next to him, Hwang stealing around the bar.
“Beer?”
“Is no one really concerned about the wolf outside?” Jeju has natural wildlife, of course, but a wolf was not something Changbin, nor any Korean he guessed, expected to run into.
“Oh!” She laughs and looks about. “I guess she left. It’s her dog.”
When he’d entered there had been only one other woman that wasn’t his old friend, or the young bartender at the far end of the bar. She’d swept by him in the midst of his reunion and he’d noticed. Mostly due to the fact that she wore a modernized, simple hanbok - traditional wear in a place that felt all but traditional.
“Her dog?” Changbin repeated. “It was a wolf.”
She looks at Hwang. “Is it a wolf?”
“I’ve never asked,” he replies, setting out a glass of water for Changbin. “He could be.”
“His name is Amadeus and Hyunjin is half in love with him.”
There’s a scoff, but Hwang nods in agreement. “Beer?” he asks Changbin. “Or are you on–”
Changbin shakes his head immediately. He doesn’t want people to know what he does for a living. People treat you one way when they believe you’re just a regular person. They treat you another way when they know you’re a cop.
“Just whatever you have on tap,” Changbin says before looking back at the woman next to him. “Amadeus…Like Mozart? Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart?”
Her eyes widen. “Oh my god, I never even thought of that.” She glances at Hyunjin who places two pints on the bar. “Did you know that?”
“I mean, kinda, but I wasn’t thinking Wolfgang…like wolf.” He grins. “Sounds like her, though.”
Changbin shakes his head at their agreement, intrigued by this detour of conversation, but knowing he needs to stay on track. He takes a sip of the pint, the bitter flavor doing wonders for his exhaustion. It’s not a long trip from Busan to Jeju, but his fatigue has more to do with what came before he left.
“How….” she begins but falters for a second, glancing around at the space as though someone is paying attention, like someone could hear. “How is everyone?”
Changbin takes another swallow of beer. He knew she’d ask, or one of them would. Her trepidation on talking about it is a stark reminder that there is freedom for her and Hwang, but it doesn’t erase the past.
He nods. “Good.” He smiles at her as warmly as possible. “Pretty much the same. But we should have dinner or something if you want details.” Private. Safe.
Surely Jeju has safe places to discuss dodgy histories.
She nods, absorbing what he isn’t saying. He misses the openness of her expression just moments before. Hwang watches her before looking at Changbin. He nods too, unspoken understanding. As he goes to tend to another customer, Changbin sees Hwang rub his arm absently. Despite the long shirt as it is drifting into winter, Changbin knows what is there.
Or what was there.
His own arm itches as though it reflects Hwang’s, but Changbin dismisses any physical action to soothe it. It’s in his head.
She reaches out to place her hand on his forearm. He meets her eyes.
“I’ve missed you.”
It’s dark in the bar and he’s grateful because he knows he blushes at her words and sincerity. Doesn’t matter that it was a brief and superficial crush, the daughter of his first boss would always be special to him.
He raises his eyebrows to deflect. “Yeah? Hwang that unsatisfying?”
She pinches him and he yelps, which just makes her laugh. It’s nice to hear her laugh. Those last weeks and days before she left had dimmed her brightness. She looks and sounds like she used to. Before the loss of her father. Before everything had gone down with Bobby.
He stiffens at the reminder, even if it’s only in his head and she’s not in there, thank god.
“He came for me,” she says as softly as someone can in a bar before it gets hit with the after-work crowd. “He left–” she makes a hand gesture that would mean nothing, but he knows. “For me.”
When had he become confidante?
“He beat me to it.”
She rolls her eyes, their banter back in play. He nurses his beer as she regales him of what he’s missed since she left; mostly about the bar and this village. He’s grinning and chuckling, but some part of him still prods at him about why he’s here.
And why he isn’t telling her.
It’s dinner time and they make plans to meet up tomorrow for a more personal chat. Hwang comes by to reassure that he’s coming too. He’s no threat, Hwang knows this, but it’s too easy to needle the other, especially about her, so Changbin lets out a long-suffering sigh as he finishes his beer.
As he gets up to head back to his hotel room, he notices the glasses of some mixed something. He points to them.
“Oh! You should try.”
“Are you poisoning me?”
“Not yet.”
He’s still cautious when he tries one. It’s sweeter than he tends to, but the spice of it is nice. He tries the other; cognac isn’t something he’s had since he was sixteen and wanted to drink whatever he could get his underage hands on.
“Not bad.”
She goes on to explain what is in the two drinks, including the other woman’s role in concocting.
“The woman with the wolf?”
She rolls her eyes. “Yes, her.”
Changbin sips the first drink again. “It’s pretty good.”
“She owns the tea shop about a kilometer from here. I mean, it’s the only tea shop within like fifty kilometers. Unless you buy your tea at the grocer like a peasant.”
He chuckles at her words, gives her a quick ‘see you later’ hug and heads back out. He looks over to where he first saw the wolf-or-dog before he jogs down the steps to the street and sidewalk. He can hear the ocean as he reminds himself how to get back to his hotel.
The people milling about, both on foot and in car seem like locals. At this point in the year, it’s unlikely many main-landers would venture to the small island.
As Changbin walks along the road, hands deep in his pockets, he hopes his assumption is true. And if anyone does show up, it’ll be obvious.
Away from their natural habitat, the underbelly of Busan would stick out. And he could neutralize the threat before it ever got near Muddy Water’s owner and her partner, formerly of the Park Syndicate.
That’s why he was here.

— 🌙💜🦉 content creator - 2020 review
i was tagged my so many lovelies !! thank you @sleepylixie @n8dlesoupguk @delicatewerewolfsoul @meiiyue @chogiwow for tagging me!
here we go!! :D
1. First creation of 2020 and most recent creation of 2020:
most recent: Right now it’d be the bday timestamp I made for lily and Snowfall, my jack frost!jeongin fic (but i’m working on broken compass aka mad king!chan atm) first: It’s actually an unposted chan fic pfff I made it in january of 2020, but at the time I wasn’t even on tumblr (it was a demon!chan fic)
2. One of your favorite creations from 2020:
I think I have more than one favorite but I’d say Lie To Me my witch!chan fic I made is one of my favorites I’ve made so far, and Broken Compass although it isn’t released yet (psst go check out the masterlist and snippets now to get ready for it!)
3. A creation you’re really proud of:
Daffodil, without a doubt. On top of it being one of my longest fics I’ve ever written, the process that went into making it and the fact that it’s what helped me start posting makes it something I’m really proud of.
4. A creation that took you forever:
Uuuuh still Daffodil LOL xD It’s such a long fic and I spent a good amount of time redrafting and proofreading, (it’s also almost 30k words sooooooo-) but yeah it’s such a long fic that it’s length alone is probs the one that took forever. Broken Compass is also taking a while but it’s also a multi-part series. >v>a (although my 100 followers drabbles took me a minute too but not quite as long)
5. A creation from 2020 that received the most notes:
Daffodil again, it’s almost at 400 notes which I think is crazy and I’m super thankful for that honestly, it means the world that people really enjoyed, osme even said it was their favorite or favorirte chan fic they’ve read and that just really touched my heart. TTwTT
6. A creation you think deserved more notes:
Hmmm I’m not really caught up on the amount of notes my works get if I’m being honest. Of course I’d like for ppl to enjoy what I put out, but this blog is more so for me to practice sharing my work so whatever amount of notes I get is fine. If I had to pick one that I hope gets more recognition someday then..... I’ll just go with Lie To Me and probably Remedy, two fics from my series The Lost Luna (really just all of TLL I hope more people can enjoy it ^v^)
7. A new fandom you joined and a creation you made for it:
Uuuuh I only write for skz and that’s not really a new fandom since I’ve been stanning them since about May of 2018 so yeah. xD
8. A creation you made that breaks your heart:
Probably Crow’s Blood, Minho’s part of TLL. It’s one of the more angsty fics I’ve written, but also Close Call one of my Jisung drabbles made me kinda emo too. My heart goes out to him in that one hehe
9. A ‘simple’ creation you really love:
Oh oh! One of my timestamps! [3:01pm] it has Chan as a thief and the mc is a princess. It’s so simple and cute and a lot of people actually really enjoyed it much to my pleasant surprise! ^^ Some even asked for a part 2 so I’ve been playing around with the idea. It was an idea that hit me and I wrote it on the spot and posted it soon after. (I also think my mailbox asks are cute which is basically small bite-sized skz soft hours asks)
10. A creation that was inspired by another one:
Hmmm.... I suppose I was inspired to make The Lost Luna after seeing some witch!svt fics by @puppetwritings if that counts? Like seeing them write for seventeen and make them witches inspired me and made me think that stray kids as witches would be cool! plus I didn’t feel like witch!skz was something you saw very often so I went for it.
11. A favorite creation made by someone else:
Oh boy I don’t have just one so here’s a list of my recs FICS IN BOLD ARE NSFW/18+ SO MINORS DO NOT ENGAGE AND PLEASE RESPECT AUTHOR’S GUIDELINES ABOUT NOT HAVING MINORS ON THEIR BLOGS
(these are mainly bang chan fics... forgive me my bias is showing so heavily here >/////<)
