modern AU thistle & yaad. they have a complicated relationship

in this AU, thistle was formally adopted by freinag melini and is yaad's (grand) uncle. he talked yaad into joining his band/catharsis engine, so after school a couple nights a week yaad is ferried over to do stage setup (and 100 other random tasks thistle gives him) at whatever venue or dive bar the winged lion booked them at. umm this probably counts as an extracurricular activity, so it's fine!

Everyone knows that Wayne knows about and supports his nephew in his various flavors of queer across all fics and headcanons. But I especially enjoy it when Wayne knows and supports him, while Eddie is completely oblivious to the fact that he's not straight.

For context: in the tags I discussed about How since in my headcanon Grujaja was taken to the grove young, he was most likely dropped off in buzzhuzz or Milldread since those places explicitly discussed having schools. I ended up choosing to place him in Milldread.

Of course the main issue of this being Grujaja would rather curl up into a ball and die than be anywhere bright and loud and well..... you know how schools can be. The easiest thing to do would be to run and hide somewhere quiet- but that just made everything worse.

There's a reason why he refused to step foot into the town after the god seemed to have gotten angry- we only see him at the edge of the town on the way to hobbyhoo.

Okay so loving the idea that the town of fobo is just ever so slightly off.

It seems fairly normal on the surface, and the residents are nice enough, but the stench of blood seems to follow them around. There are one too many bones laying around to not raise eyebrows. The resident’s “tie-dye” shirts look too dark to be regular red dye. They have carnivorous livestock and ride horses faster then humans can comprehend.

People go missing if the loiter on the area, and one too many fed agents have come back terrified of birds. The residents greet you with a smile full of slightly too many teeth and a glint in their eye.

The town is empty, and your footsteps echo when you walk. The residents hear you from a mile away and will always be the first to greet you, whether or not you get a send off party is hard to tell.

Their hats and boots are leather, but they laugh off any comment about what kind. They use bones for decoration and blood as paint. They their enemies and kill for their friends. They’re fast, they’re smart, and they’re dangerous. Theyre fobo, and they’re just a bit off.

i do think suguru’s fondness for strays comes from the fact that he himself was one . it’s the traumatized child instinct to seek out the ruined and neglected
