[1/3] Balladeer's Deception
pairing: scaramouche x lumine words: 2, 741 genre: fluff, tsundere!scaramouche, fight scene note: cross posted on ao3
series : part i. part ii. part iii.
Scaramouche realizes that flicking his wrist and sending Paimon flying several miles away in the heat of a battle just to get Lumine to himself might not turn out the way he wanted.
Tumblr media
“Hey, watch it!” Scaramouche screams, barely dodging a mitachurl’s axe that came flying his way just as he was dealing his last blow against a group of hilichurls.
“Oops! Sorry!” Lumine hurriedly apologizes, a sheepish grin on her lips before she turns back to the axe-less mitachurl.
“Eeep! That axe almost got Paimon’s head!” Shrieks the floating silver haired lackey.
“You’re a whooping 20-feet away. You’re more than safe–Actually, what do you even do for the Traveler?” Scaramouche frowns.
“Hey! Paimon helped Lumine a lot throughout our journey! Paimon introduced Lumine to so many yummy recipes for us to cook when we had to sleep in the wild–”
“Yeah, yeah.” Scaramouche rolls his eyes as he picks his suddenly itchy ear.
He sits crossed-legged mid air, tuning out Paimon’s rambling and focuses on his blonde companion’s lithe figure side stepping the mitachurl’s bare-handed attack. Lumine has fought an ancient dragon, an underground lizard, faced off Abyss Heralds and even gone against an archon–Scaramouche’s own mother–yet there is no mistaking the excited grin on her face as she finishes off the mitachurl.
Lumine loves fights; she loves the breeze that caresses her skin as she lurches to deal a fatal blow on her enemies; she loves the weight of the sword as she swings it with reckless abandon; she lives for the thrill of not knowing whether she would end up beaten and bruised or victorious in a battle.
Her feet touch the ground, soft wind currents cushioning her landing whilst a loud thump echoes in the air as a mitachurl thrice her size crashes against the cold hard dirt. The groan that follows after almost sounds like a begrudging acknowledgement of Lumine’s victory and a promise that next time, the outcome won’t be the same.
“It was a good fight for me too, friend.” Lumine agrees, her hand on her chest as she gives a final bow to the fallen mitachurl.
Scaramouche left eyebrow rises, “you understand those things? But then again, you understand this floating thing too.”
“H-hey! Paimon is Paimon! Paimon is different from those mean hilichurls!”
“The churls are living breathing beings as any other.” Lumine begins and Scaramouche rolls his eyes.
‘Here we go again.’ He complains mentally.
“And as living beings, we’ll always find a way to communicate…” She rambles on about how any opponent, human or otherwise, deserves to be honored in any fight as they walk (or she walks, whilst Scaramouche and Paimon floats along).
They end up getting ambushed by a group of fungi as they wander the seemingly never ending forest path–if this trail even leads anywhere. Scaramouche may or may not have flicked his finger and caused a wind current that flew a frantic Paimon a few miles away.
But Lumine being Lumine gets worried that they haven’t found Paimon after 10 minutes of search and rescue post-fungi battle.
“She didn’t wander off and get lost, did she?” Lumine muses on her own, standing in front of a small stream with her arms crossed and her thinking face on.
Scaramouche isn’t too worried. The winds whisper to him of Lumine’s little companion’s safety–well, Scaramouche’s standards for Paimon’s safety aren't all too high. It’s enough that she’s not getting chased by a sumpter beast or eaten by a Rishboland tiger.
Never mind that he can faintly hear Paimon’s cries as she calls for Lumine.
“Or… have the fungi evolved enough to know how to kidnap hostages? At times like this, I really wish I have Tighnari’s knowledge of the forest, maybe it’s best to ask him for help to track down Paimon…” Lumine continues with her musing, not realizing the deepening frown in Scaramouche’s face.
‘Tighnari? That half-bred dog that was hanging around Lumine last time?’
“Fine,” Scaramouche sighs under his breath, coming up behind Lumine without her even noticing her presence.
‘She’s an excellent fighter but she lets her guard down too easily in the presence of an ally.’ He muses to himself but doesn’t think to bring it up because in some ways, his heart melts at the thought of her trusting him this much.
“Hold on tight.” Scaramouche wraps an arm around Lumine’s body and the two lurch towards the sky.
The motion is so sudden that Lumine ends up unconsciously clinging to Scaramouche, her arms tightly hugging his neck, her chest flushed against his and her natural scent overwhelming his senses.
She smells like the wind in a flowerfield.
“Whoa…” She breathes out at the magnificent sight of the expanding greenery beneath them; trees that grow up to 200 ft and vines that climb up old damp barks in symbiome
“So this is the power of a god.” She murmurs seemingly to herself before turning to said god who’s holding her with a sparkle in her eyes, “we can find Paimon easier this way.”
Scaramouche resists the urge to grimace as though the name of the flying anomaly physically hurts his ears. But if it makes Lumine that happy to be reunited with that floating creature…
“The winds are saying she’s somewhere north,” He says simply and lets the current lead them towards the deeper parts of the forest where it’s known to host streaks of Rishboland tigers.
“Isn’t that where the Rishboland tigers live? Do you think Paimon’s alright?” Lumine’s eyebrows join together.
In the distant rainforest, a fairy-like creature shrieks as she levitates just inches higher from her original position, enough to escape a Rishboland tiger’s claws but barely. She whimpers, “L-Lumine, where are you when Paimon needs you most?! Save Pai-AH!” She survives the wild creature’s claws for the second time with her wits and her will.
The traveler, unaware of the struggles that befell her companion, continues to worry, “if they get to her first, it’s going to be hard to find another emergency food…”
The screws in Scaramouche’s brains came to a stop as though needing oiling. When the blond traveler’s words finally sink in, Scaramouche bursts out into laughter. He knew the duo had a running inside joke about food but he’d never, in a million years, thought that the soft, too-selfless-for-her-own-good traveler would refer to the floating creature as rations especially given how she’s been the peacemaker between him and said emergency food all this time.
“Just when I thought I knew you…” Scaramouche mutters to himself, knowing full well that the gust of wind blowing past them would mute out his words.
They reach an area where an ambush of Rishboland tigers crowd around, their tails languidly moving from side to side, some watch with curiosity while some leap into the air, their paws extended towards a floating object from afar.
“A-ah, g-good kitty…” The floating object stammers as a tiger larger than the rest–supposedly the alpha–approaches it in a calm yet intimidating fashion.
“C-c-c-ome on, P-Paimon isn’t even that delicious.” The object barely manages to form a coherent sentence.
“Paimon!”
Almost as Celestia finally looked upon her with mercy, Paimon hears a familiar stern yet warm voice calling her name. A second after that, something white falls from the sky in front of her, forming a barrier between her and the alpha.
The familiar blond before her almost makes her want to cry.
“L-Lumine…” She sobs.
“Stay back, Paimon.” Lumine instructs, a wind vortex slowly forming under her palm.
In a matter of seconds, she directs the vortex towards the approaching tiger and the rest of its kind flying into tree branches and dispersing away with a menacing hiss.
“Whew.” Lumine sighs, wiping off the sweat from her forehead as she sheathes her sword.
Paimon comes running into the blond’s arms, sobbing like a child who had a nightmare. Lumine’s face falls at the thought of Paimon having to fend off the tigers all by herself.
Scaramouche does not not feel emotions. If he truly felt nothing as a puppet, then he would not have agreed to join the Fatuis nor hold resentments for his mother. But to say he swore off picking on the silver anomaly would be a lie. He holds no remorse for what happened to the floating intelligence. She didn’t even have a scratch on her body–all that was just an act to get Lumine to hold her in those sturdy yet gentle arms, he’s sure of it.
It takes a while for Paimon’s cries to fall into sobs and then finally, soft sniffles as she falls asleep next to Lumine in front of the fire. All the while, Scaramouche discreetly grumbles to himself about how sly the floating creature is–she managed to monopolize Lumine all to herself.
The last thing he remembers is seeing the sight of Lumine’s wavy bangs swaying against her face and the orange hue of the fire warming her pale skin. Her golden eyes appear more amber as she soothes Paimon with kind words, her hand patting the silver haired creature’s back gently.
But the crackle of the fire slowly turns into a mechanical sound of rusted screws dragging against a rough surface while thunder echoes from somewhere in the distance. The fire he was staring at is long gone and in front of him, is nothing but endless darkness.
Scaramouche sighs. He’s been here one too many times.
“Why… did you abandon us?” A scratchy voice asks from every direction.
Scaramouche doesn’t bother answering, he doesn’t even react.
All of a sudden, light pierces through a hollow from the ceiling, revealing the crouched body in a white yukata standing 20 feet from him.
“You… you promised you’d make them pay!” The vassal’s head snaps up, its black, pupil-less eyes somehow manage to stare right into his violet ones and send shivers down his spine. Its deep purple hair brushes against its porcelain skin, its body making cracking sounds with every movement of its joints… as if it wore itself out all these years.
He wished that the times he’s seen this… this thing has made it easier for him. But it never does. He’s staring right at himself–or, the part of him that crawled out of the failed experiments belonging to his mother. Lost, vengeful and devastated.
“Things… things are different now…” He finds himself trying to appease this creature’s wrath.
“Ha! How different do you think it is? Until their mortal bodies fall and decay? How many times must we be abandoned for you to see?”
“Lumine isn’t like the others.” He finally says, stern.
The creature scoffs. “She is a creature of another world, once she finds her kin, she will waste no time in setting course to another world. And we –we will be abandoned yet again.”
The creature cackles, its joints cracking as it tosses its head back.
“Scaramouche. Scaramouche– Zephyr !”
The wanderer’s eyes snap open to find a pair of golden pools staring at him, distraught. The scent of wind in a flowerfield pierces his senses, forcing him to focus only on the woman in front of him. He feels warm–too warmed by the fire that seems to still be dancing in full vigor. The resounding laughter is now but a distant echo in his mind.
“What, did you have a nightmare? Want me to cuddle you to sleep?” He wants to smirk like he usually does but for some reason he feels too tired to do that so it ends up looking as if he is genuinely asking.
That turns out to be a mistake. Lumine’s worry stricken face morphs into one that of anger.
“Worry about yourself! You were thrashing in your sleep, your face was so scary… and… and you were saying my name.” Her expression returns to anxiousness as she recalls the scene that woke her up.
“I’m sorry for waking you up.”
“That’s not the point here, Zephyr.” She seldom uses the nickname she gives him though he wishes she would.
But that makes this situation even more dire than he thought.
“I must’ve scared you, sorry.”
“That’s not it either.”
Lumine’s face contorts into an unexplainable cypher, she looks as if she wishes to say more but instead she sits next to him, raises his head and places it on her lap. Scaramouche freezes as if he’s been hit by the icy frost of cryo slimes.
But he recovers a second later and curls his body into a fetal position–he may not be able to ugly-cry like a certain floating intelligence but if a showing his vulnerable side after a nightmare is what will raise pity for him in Lumine’s books, swallowing his pride and acting like a scared little puppy is a small price to pay for salvation.
He thought being able to lay his head on Lumine’s soft thighs is the most he’d get out of the nightmare but her lithe fingers begin to stroke the strands of his hair. Every time her finger tips touch his scalp, he feels an electrifying current run down his spine and settles deep within his bones. Perhaps, if he had an organ to pump blood to his veins, this would be equivalent to what people would describe as a racing heart.
“You know… you don’t have to act tough anymore… you don’t have to hold it in. If something annoys you, you can vent to me. If something makes you sad, you can cry with me. If something disturbs your sleep, you can wake me up and I’ll do everything I can to soothe you.”
“I’m no child. Some nightmare isn’t going to make me cry and weep and ask you to check every shadow for monsters.”
‘Because the real monster is within me.’
“Still, isn’t it nice to have someone lay with you to talk to on nights like this?”
“Well, every night is ‘nights like this.’”
Lumine’s fingers go motionless at his words but he simply murmurs ‘don’t stop, it feels nice’ and the gentle motion of lithe fingers combing through his hair resumes.
“When did you start having these nightmares?’
“I was already having them after I became transient but it got worse after achieving godhood–the ghost of my past self seeking a promise I made to myself long ago… It makes sure I don’t forget.”
They fall silent for a moment, only the sound of running water nearby and the nightly creatures fill the air.
“Sing for me, traveler.” His way of speaking makes it sound like an order but the subtle tremble in his voice tells her that it isn’t easy for him to open up to her like this.
These are the things only Lumine knows about Scaramouche.
“I’m not much of a balladeer… so don’t blame me if one of your eardrums bursts.”
Scaramouche makes a sound between a chuckle and a scoff, as though agreeing to her terms.
So she begins to hum a tune; one that reminds her of the folklore she heard somewhere in the past about wandering souls finding one another through the whispers of the winds. Her melodic voice seems to calm his nerves and soothe the knotted strings within the hollow of his chest. The owls and crickets accompany her singing like an orchestra. Squirrels peek from within the tree trunks as though curious which of its forest dwelling kin owns such an angelic voice.
The mellow, tilting song comes to an end with the story of the wandering souls returning to the winds as they reach the end of their lives.
“Hmm. Not bad.” Scaramouche remarks.
“Why aren’t you asleep yet? I’m not singing another song.” Lumine responds, a playfully annoyed tone wrapped around her words.
“I’m scared of falling asleep. I need something to hold… like a life sized pillow–ow.”
Scaramouche’s head hits the hard ground as Lumine abruptly stands up, looking down at him with an unfazed expression.
“Seems like you’ve calmed down enough to be cracking jokes, I’m going to sleep.” She walks across him to her original spot and lies down next to a snoring Paimon, her back on him.
Scaramouche folds his arms under his head as a makeshift pillow, staring at the vast galaxy–the skies may be fake but they Celestia did an excellent job at replicating the intricacies of the stars and the cosmos.
He lets his eyelids flutter shut as he trails off, “perhaps another time…”
To get the traveler to agree to let him hold her while they sleep, he means.

Tickletober Week 1: Hypnosis
ScaraLynLumi Part 1 of 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: Semi-inspired by this and this, and I used a lot of the hypnosis dialogue from this video because I wanted to make it at least somewhat realistic
Summary: Lumine takes Wanderer to see Lyney and Lynette's magic show and Wanderer gets more than he bargained for
Characters: lee!Wanderer, ler!Lyney, spectator Lumine
“Have you ever wondered what the Knave’s children are up to these days?” Lumine asked Wanderer.
“No, why do you ask?”
“Well… I want to take you to see a magic show tonight.”
“A magic show?” Wanderer scoffed, “Why would I ever want to see something as childish as that?”
“Oh, c’mon, don’t be like that. Lyney’s an amazing magician. It’ll be fun!” Lumine insisted.
“Fine, whatever.”
Later that evening, Lumine and Wanderer arrived at the Opera Epiclese. A few steps into the building, Lumine thought she heard someone calling out to her.
“Psst. Lumine!”
There it was again.
“Over here!”
“Lumine, someone’s trying to get your atte- where’d she go?” Lumine had suddenly vanished from the spot she had been standing.
“WhaA!” Lumine yelped as she was pulled off to the side.
“Hello, my dear~ Come to see my show tonight?” Lyney greeted her, taking off his hat and bowing.
“Oh, h-hello, Lyney. Yes, with my friend Kasacchi, who’s probably looking for me now.” Lumine shot him a look.
“I just wanted to have a private chat with you before the show. Is that so wrong?”
Lumine rolled her eyes, unable to stop herself from smiling. “No, no, it’s fine. Just make it quick.”
After their little conversation, Lumine caught up with Wanderer.
“There you are, where in Teyvat did you go?”
“Lyney pulled me aside. He upgraded our tickets to VIP,” Lumine said, waving the tickets in front of him. “We’re in the front row.”
“I see.”
The two took their front row seats, waiting in anticipation for the show to begin.
“Welcome to Lyney and Lynette’s Magic Show!” Lyney greeted the audience, briefly making eye contact with both Lumine and Wanderer.
“We have a very special show planned for you all today. I am going to try out something new, something I have never done on stage before!”
The audience muttered in excitement.
“Now, I will let the Fateometer decide our lucky audience member. And don’t worry, you can always decline and I will pick someone else. Lynette, if you please…” Lynette brought out the Fateometer (which was really just her hat) and placed it center stage. The hat seemingly levitated on its own.
“Let’s see what the Fateometer decides,” Lyney said.
The Fateometer began to shake, spewing out streamers, confetti, and a singular playing card. Lyney caught said playing card and showed it to the audience.
“Now, everyone please check under your seats. If your card is the seven of hearts, please make your way towards the stage!”
“Aw, I got the Ace of hearts. What about you, Kasacchi?”
“Uh…” Wanderer looked at his card in disbelief. “I got the… seven… of hearts.”
“Did I hear that right?” Lyney turned to Wanderer excitedly.
Wanderer stood up and put his hand on his hip. “You did.” He flipped the card around so that it was facing Lyney.
“Wonderful! Step on up.”
Lynette walked off the stage down to where Wanderer was standing and offered her hand.
Wanderer looked to his left over at Lumine. She gave him an encouraging double thumbs up. “You’ll be fine! I can watch your hat for you, if you’d like.”
“Fine,” Wanderer took off his hat and handed it to Lumine. He then reluctantly took Lynette’s hand and followed her back up onto the stage.
“Everyone give a warm welcome to our lucky audience member!” Lyney gestured towards Wanderer. “Kasacchi, was it?”
Wanderer looked somewhat surprised. “How do you know that?”
“A little birdie told me,” Lyney smiled.
Lynette brought out a comfortable-looking red velvet armchair and motioned for Wanderer to take a seat. Wanderer did so, crossing his arms.
“Now, Kasacchi, are you alright with a little hypnosis?”
Wanderer raised his eyebrows. “Hypnosis? Yeah, like that’ll ever work on me.”
“Is that a yes?”
“Knock yourself out.”
Lyney chuckled. “Remember, you’re ultimately the one in control here. If you start to feel uncomfortable, you can wake yourself up at any time. Understand?”
“Yeah, whatever.”
“Wonderful. Now, I am going to have you focus on my dear sister Lynette’s pocket watch here.” Lynette held up the pocket watch a few inches in front of Wanderer’s eyes. “Just focus on the rhythm as it sways from side to side.”
Wanderer did so.
“Now, I want you to take some deep breaths. In for four, hold for seven, and out for eight. Got it? Good, let’s do it together. In, two, three, four, hold, two, three, four, five, six, seven, out, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Good, and again. In, two, three, four…”
This isn’t too bad so far, Wanderer thought. It’s actually kind of relaxing.
“You start to feel your body getting heavy, this deep relaxation making it harder and harder to move.”
Wanderer leaned back into the chair. His arms relaxed, slowly falling into his lap.
“You feel your mind getting lighter. You have nothing to worry about. Just let yourself enjoy it. Slowly, you feel your eyelids start to get heavier. Allow yourself to relax. You don’t have to think anymore, I will take care of everything for you.”
Lumine was already impressed. She had never seen Wanderer in such a relaxed state before.
“Now, every time I snap my fingers, you may close your eyes. But, every time I say so, you have to open them again. Okay, here we go.” Snap. “Close your eyes, just for a moment. And, open again, just like that.” Snap. “Very good. And open again.” Snap. “And again. Perfect. It feels so good to close them, doesn’t it?” Snap. “Just enjoy it. Open your eyes again for me. Every time you have to open your eyes, it becomes harder and harder.” Snap. “But you can do it a few more times, right?” Snap. “Try to open them once again.” Snap. “So sleepy now, barely able to open them.” Snap. “Deeper.” Snap. “And deeper.” Snap. “Relax. Your eyes are so heavy, you can’t open them anymore. But you don’t want to. You just want to rest.”
Lynette stepped to the side, allowing the audience a full view of Lyney and Wanderer. The audience looked on with bated breath.
“Focus on how relaxed you feel. I’m going to count down from ten to one. When I get to one, you will be fully entranced. Ten. Sinking deeply now. Nine. You are breathing slowly and deeply… Three. You don’t have to be awake anymore. Two. Almost there. And, one. Sleep. Sink down. Just relax. Sleep. Sleep deeply. Sleep. Sleep. Sleep. There you go.”
Wanderer did indeed look like he had fallen asleep.
“Now, let’s have some fun, shall we?” Lyney turned to the audience and winked.
“Wave your hands like this to cheer,” Lynette instructed, waving both her hands back and forth. “We don’t want to wake him.”
The audience waved their hands excitedly.
“Kasacchi, would you happen to be ticklish?”
Wanderer, with his eyes still closed, smiled softly.
“Did you see that, everyone?”
The audience murmured, a few giggling.
“Now, Kasacchi, you begin to feel a pleasant tingly sensation spread throughout your body. Starting at your scalp, trailing all the way down your spine. It feels wonderful. You let this pleasant feeling wash over you, and you become even more relaxed.”
Wanderer smiled a little wider.
“Very good. Now, you feel something a little funny on the tips of your ears. This funny feeling is almost electric, an electric tingly sensation that begins to spread all over your ears. You realize that this is a very ticklish sensation and, oh, it really tickles, doesn’t it? It tickles a lot. In fact, every time I say the word tickle, it starts to tickle a little more.”
Wanderer nodded.
“The ticklish feeling spreads down your neck and under your arms.”
“Mrrmph. Mmhmhmhehehehe!” Wanderer hugged himself.
“It travels down your arms onto your palms, and down your torso onto your sides. You can’t help but laugh.”
Wanderer giggled, squirming in his chair.
“It starts to tickle your hips, slowly creeping down to your thighs.”
“NahahAHAhAhahAA! NohohohohoAAHAHAhahAHA!”
“The ticklish feeling starts to tickle your thighs, making sure to pay extra special attention to your inner thighs and right above your knees.”
“AhahahahAHAHA! NohohOhohooOAHAHAHAHAHA! NohohaAHAHAHAHAHAT thehehehERAAAAHAHAHAHA!!”
Wanderer was full-on laughing now, kicking his legs and shaking his head.
“It feels so good to laugh, doesn’t it? Just let it all out.”
“IhihihIT TIHIHIHICKLES AHAHAHAHAHA!!”
“The ticklish feeling starts to spread all over your knees and down to your feet. The harder you laugh, the more good you feel. Just let yourself enjoy it.”
The audience was laughing along with Wanderer at this point.
“IHIHIHI-AHAHAHAHAHAHA!” Tears of joy pricked the corners of Wanderer’s eyes. He couldn’t deny it—this felt amazing.
“It continues spreading all over your body, finally reaching your toes. It tickles under and in between your toes, going over every little spot it can find.”
Wanderer kicked his feet even harder, slamming his right fist against the armrest.
“Tickle tickle, Kasacchi. Tickle tickle tickle~ You’ve never felt more ticklish in your entire life, and it feels so, so good. You don’t want it to stop.”
“Tickle tickle tickle~” Lynette joined in.
“You look so cute, Kasacchi!” Lumine exclaimed, doubting he could even hear her over the sound of his own laughter.
“LuhuHUMIHIHIHIHIHIHINE! STAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAP! NohohAHAHAHAT THAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!”
Lyney snickered. “Ah, he must be dreaming about our lovely Traveler who’s in the audience with us today. Lumine must know all of your tickle spots, doesn’t she, Kasacchi?”
He nodded frantically.
Lumine flushed. I guess he could hear me, she thought.
“You can hold out a little longer though, can’t you? Tickle tickle~ Tickle tickle tickle tickle~!”
Wanderer laughed, shaking his head and thrashing about, but never resisting. He laughed more freely than he had ever laughed before. He laughed so hard that his laughter went completely silent.
“Aaand, sleep.” Lyney said.
Wanderer fell limp almost instantaneously, still smiling and breathing heavily. He looked peaceful.
“Easy now, catch your breath. I am going to count up from one to ten. When I reach ten, you will wake up, and you will no longer be in trance. One…”
Wanderer felt a bit dazed. The first thing he saw when he woke up was Lynette offering her hand. He took it, slowly standing up. He felt a little lightheaded.
“Everyone, please give a big round of applause for Kasacchi! You were an amazing participant. Lynette will guide you back down to your seat.”
Confused, Wanderer followed Lynette back to where Lumine was sitting. Lumine handed him his hat, which he immediately took, put on, and tilted downwards to cover his face.
Lynette joined back up with Lyney on stage and they continued with the rest of their show.
“What… happened?” Wanderer eventually asked Lumine.
“I’ll tell you after the show. How do you feel?”
“Weirdly… warm and fuzzy.”
Lumine peeked under his hat to see his blushing face. “Warm and fuzzy, huh?”
He looked away. “Sh-shut up. It’s disgusting.”
“You keep telling yourself that.”

Trivial Lessons (ScaraLumi)
oh hey what's up here's some mega soft, indulgent, marshmallow fluff in the form of consecutive drabbles. i just think scaralumi is neat.
Scaramouche isn't as worldly as he thinks he is. Lumine is the only one he'd considering learning from.
AO3 LINK Next Part
Scaramouche/Lumine 1,737 Words - SFW No heinous tags - just a mountain of fluff and Scaramouche getting the physical affection he deserves.
---
The expectation when giving him a realm dispatch was a simple one. Come and go as you require, and come to Lumine when you need something. Those rules were the same for anyone who had a way into Lumine’s domain, though they were few and far between.
It’s meant to be the place where she finds peace when the expectations of the world outside grow too heavy for the moment. Or, when she just doesn’t feel like pitching a tent to share with Paimon. But regardless of the reasons for her arrivals there, it doesn’t lessen the fact that it’s the one place in the universe that Lumine can go where there aren’t responsibilities for her to juggle.
Scaramouche knows this. So well, in fact, that when he steps down into the place she’d allowed him to call his own, he still feels unsure of how exactly he should go about making the request that’s been nagging at the back of his mind since… how long has it been, now? Maybe five, maybe six months. Time tends to blur together when his only real obligation these days is to hurry along when Lumine needs him.
He wishes it were more often, he wishes he had an excuse to follow her around and-
The fountain that’s nestled between glowing flowers and trees that arch inwards in a thick canopy trickles peacefully, breaking the silence that had existed before he’d come here. A deep inhale carries the subtle scent of flowers, the salt of an illusory ocean, petrichor and leaves from someplace unknown, just beyond the treeline. Despite his solitary travels, this is the truest semblance of peace he can nurture for himself.
Whether that has anything to do with the owner of this domain is still up for debate, but he’s certain it’s one that he would lose if someone were to call him out on it.
Closing his eyes, he reaches out like Lumine showed him, feeling for the presence of others who may be taking refuge here. He expects one of Lumine’s other companions - the purple-haired child, the Tianquan, the kitsune that can’t remember him - but there’s only a singular presence here that beckons for him.
The winds carry him there, coming as easy to him as breathing.
There’s a hilltop, crafted as if its sole purpose was to bring Lumine closer to the sun that hangs above at her will. At its peak is a blanket, sprawled out across grass that’s as soft as any bed he’s come across. The fabric is a pristine blue, almost a perfect mirror for the sky above that Lumine watches with slow blinks and a lazy smile.
“That was quick. You just saw me this morning - don’t tell me you missed me already?”
Under any other circumstance, Scaramouche would be spitting at the accusation of any sort of softness that could be perceived from his actions. But Lumine’s head turns to the side just enough to look up at him, no hint of malice in her eyes as she all but sprawls at his feet without a care in the world.
It softens his edges, just a bit.
Enough for him to nudge her leg with his foot until she moves over, giving him enough space for him to take up residence on her little fabric island of peace. It’s not enough to allow him personal space, his knee pushing into the plush of her thigh as she settles once more with closed eyes and a pleased sigh.
If he said nothing, simply relished in this moment, certainly Lumine wouldn’t begrudge him that. There’s a tentative, unspoken agreement between them, coming into existence the moment they had stepped from Irminsul and he was met with a new life unfolding rapidly before him.
The rules weren’t stated, but he found himself tentatively pushing at them with gently biting remarks and fleeting touches at the back of her elbow, fingers wrapping around her wrist, the steady warmth of her presence at his side as she drags him over hill and dale, wherever her journeys take her on a given day. Not once has he complained, nor will he if prompted.
But, the truth is that peace like this can’t last, no matter how warm his skin feels from the sun, how comfortable the grass is beneath him, how sweetly the wind rustles the wisped ends of blonde hair. With a deep breath that’s laced with the thickness of his own tension, he asks, “I don’t ask much from you.”
“You don’t. It’s weird. It’s like you’ve been saving up for something big. Are you about to cash in?”
The pain of his teeth clamping on his tongue draws him back to reality, away from where his first instinct drags him to denydenydeny–
“Maybe. You can say no. I don’t know why you make mountains out of the smallest pebble.”
“Things that are big from my perspective might be worth nothing to you. And vice versa. You’re stalling, Wanderer.”
Ah, he supposes he is. It’s easier that way, to claim internally that he’s merely gathering thoughts that have been tightly bundled. All he needs to do is unpack them, and now is as good a time as any.
“You’ve seen my memories.”
“The important bits, at least.”
Well, at least she has an inkling about how absolutely devastating those specific memories are, but that’s not the point right now. Squinting up at the sun, he avoids Lumine’s inquisitive gaze in favor of burning his retinas. “In Shakkei Pavilion, I knew nothing. I was a blank slate - lost and confused. In Tatarasuna, I learned the basics of humanity, only gaining a grasp on harsher topics first-hand with… with…”
Slowly, Lumine pushes up to sit, concern palpable in the air despite his eyes burning. It’s from the sun. It’s from the sun.
“Anyway.” A clearing of his throat brings things back on track, his eyes still sting as he stares at the second sun at his side, glowing in the midday light that seems to have no set time here. Sometimes, it lasts days, and others it’s gone in the blink of an eye. If he continued to stare at the sun, would it be moving, or halted?
“Anyway,” he starts again, rubbing the heel of his palm against the corner of his eye to sweep away wetness that threatened to fall, “even I can admit there are some things I don’t know. Haven’t experienced. That’s the request I’m trying to cash in on.”
“Ah, I see.” Lumine’s voice doesn’t waver, but it does sound rather quiet as she absently scratches at the hair just behind her ear, jostling the flowers that adorn her there. “You’ll have to be more specific. I just don’t think there’s anything I can show you that you haven’t seen before - not anything in my power, at least.”
“Well, there is, if you’ll hear me out.”
“That’s what I’m doing right now, isn’t it? You’re talking an awful lot to just ask for something so simple.”
“Don’t get smart, or I’ll ask someone else.” An empty threat - something like this could be trusted with no one but the Traveler. And even if it could, the thought of learning something like this from another made his skin crawl.
To her credit, Lumine doesn’t prod him further. Only gives a placating smile that has a little too much mischief for his liking, tilts her head until the longest of her blonde strands brush her collarbone on one side, leans on one hand so she’s a little closer. Maybe she already knows, but to reach for it would be beyond his power. Certainly, he’d make a fool of himself.
“You can’t laugh.”
“I’ll recite that Snezhnayan pinky-promise poem if you want.”
“No thanks, I’ve heard it one too many times in my life.” The thought of ginger hair makes his stomach turn in distaste. “Just… say you won’t.”
“I won’t. If it’s important, you know I won’t. Have a little faith in me.”
The problem is he has a little too much. That he’s willing to trust Lumine with this is the ultimate test of his trust in her - in himself. The air feels cloying as he breathes it in, tinged with the scent of Lumine now that she’s in his space fully. He can nearly taste it as he opens his mouth and asks, “Will you kiss me, Lumine?”
“Oh.” She hums with a face that falls from happiness into something far, far softer. Brows tilt as she covers her heart with her free hand, fingertips pressing into her own skin until they turn white from the pressure, “Is this what’s got you so worked up? You thought I’d reject your feelings?”
“It’s not feelings, I-I’ve just never-”
“Oh, that’s a shame.”
He’s certain that sun has stopped. At least, he is frozen in time, mid-sentence and scrambling for footing now that she’s deftly kicked it out from under him. The implication isn’t entirely lost on him, though it flits from his grasp as Lumine’s hand falls to her lap.
“I’d be happy to show you. Do you… want to start now?”
Now? Honestly, he hadn’t expected to get this far. In fact, he assumed Lumine would laugh at his incompetence in these matters, then send him off with a wave of her hand and a jeer. Not that she’s ever really done that, at least not after his… mistake. If he didn’t know any better, he’d have assumed her memories of him from before had been wiped clean as well.
The hesitance on his face is blatantly clear. Lumine lets out a little sigh, tinged with nervous laughter that has no reason to exist when she holds the upper hand like this, and reaches her free hand out. Its destination is to his own hand in his lap, limp as she lifts it to hold with hers. Even this is novel, at least with the connotations it now holds thanks to his blunder.
“Alright, we’ll take it slow then. Do you trust me?”
“More than anyone.”
Embarrassment doesn’t have time to flood his veins before she’s squeezing his hand and lacing their fingers together. “That’s good to hear. If you let me lead, I’ll teach you until you don’t want to learn anymore, okay?”
Breathlessly he agrees, a long-slumbering giddiness beginning to bloom somewhere deep inside where it’d been forgotten.

Hello, i love your " False awakening" fic and was wondering if you feel like ever continuing it. It has a lot of potential. Of course only come back to it if you feel like doing it
hm, i do think it has the potential for a sequel, but i also feel like the way that i would go about it would be similar enough to canon, if that makes sense? it would probably be lumine breaking out of the cycle, defeating him, him erasing his memories etc etc
like i love the way that canon wrote how they continued their relationship enough already, and i don't know if i'll bring anything new to the table other than rewriting canon into fic format and adding new bits (especially intrigued by the idea of wanderer and lumine travelling together,,, i feel like i'd write maybe wanderer ends up all the way in the desert or in port ormos or something, and lumine finds him, brings him with her to inazuma etc etc), but the overall way their relationship progresses, i'd keep the same as canon. i'm just quite in love with how canon had the hate-acceptance thing going on.
though of course, if i was to continue it in the same vein as canon, it would still carry a lot more baggage oweing to the dream they were both dreaming,,, lot more angst lol. especially the aftermath of waking up, which interests me. so yeah, while i don't think i'd write a sequel, i was quite into the idea of an epilogue afteward perhaps? but i'm a bit burnt out from genshin (and fandom in general to be honest), so that idea will have to just remain brainrots here haha. but i'm very glad i saw this ask, and that you liked the fic so much!! honestly made the sleepless nights writing that fic so worth it,,, i think it's probably one of my favourites to date so far for this pairing

Between her and the Balladeer, there is far too many differences to settle. Try as she might to be as forgiving as possible, there’s only so much that Lumine can take. But the distance between enemies has always been smaller than one would expect.

[3/3] Wanderer's Wanderment
pairing: scaramouche x lumine words: 2, 767 genre: fluff, tsundere!scaramouche note: cross posted on ao3
series : part i. part ii. part iii.
Tighnari offers to give a class on all-things-Avidya-Forest but Scaramouche decides to play hooky.
He may or may not have known that the Traveler would come looking for him.
Tumblr media
“Hold on one second.” Tighnari instructs as he climbs up a tree, grasping onto its branch when he’s high enough and swings himself onto the branch of another, much taller tree.
Tighnari thrusts a knife into the tree with a violet blue mushroom attached to the juncture between the branch and the bark. He begins aptly cuts off the mushroom with one hand whilst the other holds onto the knife embedded into the tree.
“Wow.” Lumine and Paimon clap in unison as they watch Tighnari press his foot against the mousy bark, effectively dislodging the knife whilst propelling himself into the air with a backflip and landing perfectly on his toes.
“That was impressive, teacher! As expected from the best forest ranger in the whole of Sumeru!” Collei gushes whilst the blonde Viatrix nods.
Scaramouche doesn’t miss the way the half-breed’s tail sways when he hears the standing ovation from the ever so kind Traveler and her easily impressed companion.
“Yeah, Paimon would’ve never been able to do that even if Paimon practiced really hard.” The silver, floating creature adds in affirmation.
“Oh, it was nothing. Paimon, if you really want to, you can train with Collei as a forest-ranger-in-training. You’ll be able to climb trees in no time.” Tighnari chuckles as he approaches them.
“Ah- Uh… P-Paimon’s sure Paimon should leave the forest rangering to the experts.”
“This is boring.” Scaramouche grumbles to himself.
He is the only one leaned up against a tree several feet away, arms crossed over his chest. His head hangs low, eyes closed as though he’s resting his eyes yet his mind is wide awake.
“Kicking it before trying it, Paimon?” Lumine teases as shoots her silver haired companion a playful smirk.
Well, if there’s one good thing that comes out of this pointless ‘101 Herbs and Shrooms for Dummies’ class, it’s Lumine’s high spirits and the luminescent cosmos in her eyes.
Just as she is eager to go up against an indestructible opponent, she is also eager to sip the essence of knowledge any kind soul is willing to offer.
Much to Scaramouche’s dismay, that kind soul who must look like an angel is this half-breed, humble-bragging pup.
“This is the Rukkhashava Mushroom. It grows in layers like a sea of clouds in isolation and on the highest point of a tree. That’s why it’s precious and Sumerians only take it if they absolutely need it for medical or research purposes. It has various uses if you cook it correctly, Tandoori Roast Chicken will boost your agility so you could fight better, a Potato Boat will help speed up your recovery if you get sick or hurt. Here, Traveler, it might come in handy on your journey.”
“Are you sure?” Lumine blinks, staring at the blue and violet hued fungus as though it’s a cherished gift.
“Mhm.” Tighnari nods.
The trace of rosiness on the half-breed’s cheeks is the final straw for Scaramouche. He pushes himself off the tree he’s been leaning on and treads further into the forest. He ends up taking on a group of fungi–he didn’t mean to, in fact, he couldn’t be bothered to care about some petty enemies. But he also wouldn’t stand and let them hit him with their Dendro bullets.
Scaramouche sighs, kneeling and gathering the spores and crystalline dusts that mark their trail in their haste to escape him. He doesn’t feel a strong inclination for them but Lumine always gathers them. ‘In case we need them’ she’d always say.
“It’s stupid.” Scaramouche grumbles under his breath.
This class. The green haired archer who looks at the half-breed like he’s some God. The easy-to-please floating creature.
And well, Lumine is brilliant but she too has her simple moments. But even in her foolishness, her starstruck expression is elegant, her mindful hesitance in accepting the half-breed’s simple gift is endearing and most of all–
“So this is where you’re hiding.” A sweet, honeyed voice speaks.
–her gentle attentiveness is beguiling.
Scaramouche can never win.
No, rather, he’s always been fighting a losing battle.
He knows and yet he tries so hard to resist the arcane fascination towards this golden Viatrix.
“What, did your survival class for dummies end early?”
“Nope, I’m playing hooky. It’s not fun when you’re not around.” Lumine sits on a boulder several feet away, crossing her left ankle over her right ankle.
Scaramouche only grunts in response as he finishes up collecting the fungal drops. He walks over to the blonde Traveler, the sunlight piercing through the gaps of the leaves casts a candescent glow on her pale skin and makes her luscious hair appear luminous.
He stops in front of her, their feet touching.
“Oh, are those for me?” She blinks, her aureate eyes glinting in surprise.
Unlike the hesitance that reigns over her actions with the half-breed’s gift, Lumine accepts Scaramouche’s offerings with a childlike contentment–a testament to her unyielding trust for him.
He wonders… what kind of face would she make if he was no longer there to join her on her journey?
He wonders if Lumine would cry for him in his absence or would she stand upon a cliff overlooking a vast plain for a short while, a silent farewell, then continue on in pursuit for her brother, her one true Viator, the one person she’s unable to say goodbye to.
“Scaramouche.” The gleeful voice breaks his reverie.
Lumine smiles, pearly whites and crinkled corners in her eyes, “thanks.”
Alas, as much as Scaramouche wishes to know what his absence means for this golden Traveler, his wish for her to continue smiling in effervescent glee is greater.
“Let’s go,” he holds out his right hand.
“Hm?”
“You’re too much of a goody-two-shoes to cut class so it means you’re here to collect me.”
“You’re not some baggage for me to ‘collect’, Zephyr. I was just wondering where you were.” She says, placing her hand in his after storing his gift in her pouch.
The way her personal nickname for him rolls off her tongue makes him grip her hand a little tighter, as if his own heart, if he had one, is clenching in his chest. He runs his thumb over her knuckles as they begin to walk.
‘I don’t ever want to let go of this hand.’
“Still, it’s kind of you to look for me… like a sitter who lost the child she was looking after.” He chuckles to himself.
But before they can take another step down the path that leads to where Tighnari, Collei and Paimon are, Scaramouche feels a tug on his hand that stops him in his tracks. He turns on his heels to question the Traveler why she abruptly pauses.
Yet the words he wishes to say fades away from his mind as soon as his violet eyes meet Lumine’s crystalline golden gaze.
“Sometimes, you do act like a child.”
“ Hey .” He warns, deadpanned.
“You’re so clueless sometimes, it’s frustrating. But you do things you’d never do like pick up goods that you know I’d appreciate. You’d say yes to wherever I want to go even though it involves people you’re not too fond of interacting with. You’d be the first to look for food once we set camp even though you don’t need to eat.”
“That’s because-!” Scaramouche almost bites his tongue when he clamps his mouth shut at his own sudden outburst.
That’s because it’s you , it’s all for you, he’s about to blurt out.
“Because?” A small grin blooms on Lumine’s lips as she leans forward.
The sudden proximity grants him an unrestricted view of Lumine’s fair–almost translucent-skin. Scaramouche finds himself counting each individual lash on her eyelids, then when he meets her crystal clear eyes, he freezes completely as though struck by a cryo slime’s frost.
“Scaramouche?” And it is her lilting voice that melts the invisible frost that’s cast itself over his body.
The Wanderer clears his throat, turning his cheek to her as he throws his gaze somewhere–anywhere as long as it isn’t Lumine’s vivid, captivating gaze.
“It’s because I didn’t have anything better to do anyway! So what the hell? It’s fun to watch mortals go about their day doing simplistic mortal things and participate in it every once in a while when you’re a God with plenty of time on your hands.”
“Mortal, huh?” Lumine murmurs under her breath but the winds catch it and tells him so.
“Lumine, I–” He begins, realizing his fatal mistake a moment too late.
“I suppose it’s like a hobby to pass your time.” The golden Traveler releases his hand and Scaramouche reaches to grab it again only to stop mid-action.
Does he even have the right to hold her?
Scaramouche clenches his hands in futile resistance. If he didn’t do so, he fears he might apply too much force and end up bruising her soft, delicate skin.
And he wishes… he wishes he could gather her in his arms and confess to her of this grappling trepidation that claws at his hollowed chest. The unyielding desires to consume her whole because she’s inequitably endearing and lovely and beguiling–he wants her all to himself.
But he knows she would hate him if he stole her away from the world she loves so much, from the souls she’s met along the way, from the path she’s set to see the end of, from her brother whom she will never turn her back on even though he seems to have abandoned her.
He lets out the sound of resigned humor as he mentally laughs at himself.
“Right. Since it’s come to this, we should part ways here. It has been entertaining to watch you bend over backwards to fulfil commissions from lesser beings, interact with half-breeds of unknown origins under the guise of friendship and be the Archon’s errand girl in each nation but I’m getting bored.”
The winds around them begin to grow harsher as Scaramouche feels himself levitating above ground–a telltale sign of a curt and simple farewell.
Lumine thinks it’s very Scaramouche of him.
To dish out insults as a goodbye and to leave like the winds passing from city to city once he finds himself unable to seek the answer to his conundrum.
“You idiot.” She shakes her head, hand shooting out to grab onto the Wanderer’s wrist and pulling him back down to the ground and into her.
Her lips crash into him in an unceremonious kiss. The minuscule sting on her upper lip is a telltale sign of a very obvious cut that’ll get Paimon fussing over it once they reunite with the trio.
But Lumine decides it’s a bridge she’ll cross when she gets there.
At the present, she has a more pressing matter to deal with.
She’s the first to lean away, cheeks rosy yet her mind is made. There is only one objective for her and it’s to make him see that she’ll take him with all he calls his wayward intentions and monstrous perversions.
She’s known them all.
Perhaps not from the beginning but she comes to learn of Scaramouche’s subtle leniency when it comes to anything and everything that concerns her. The compromises he makes with himself as he fulfils her unspoken wishes. The hand he offers in aiding the people she chooses to help just so she wouldn’t overburden herself. The devout acceptance for her reckless abandon in battles and the silent care he gives her after the fights are over.
How could she not notice it?
And above all, how could she not find him wonderfully charming?
“Do you get it now?”
It takes Scaramouche several heartbeats for his eyes to flutter into recognition. Another heartbeat for the screws in his head begins to move. And another for his fingers to brush Lumine’s and twine their hands together.
“Traveler, I didn’t think you were capable of such indecency.” He smirks.
Her rosy cheeks turn crimson as she recoils as though physically struck by his words.
“I-I was trying to make you see-!”
“See what?”
“T-that I…”
Lumine trails off, cheeks puffed in indignation once she realizes that Scaramouche very well sees what she’s trying to show him and he’s enjoying every ticking second of it. But Lumine is also aware of the mental anguish he’s wrought over during all the times she’d opted not to tell him, to assure him, to relieve him from his self-made misery.
So she gathers her composure.
“That I like–”
And before she even manages to finish her sentence, he swallows her words with his lips and slips his soft pink tongue into her mouth. He tastes the sweetness of her struggling sincerity and she’s fighting to keep her heart from leaping to her throat.
Lumine presses a hand on the Wanderer’s firm chest in an attempt to break away from his assault on her tongue but instead, he covers the back of her hand with his and holds it there, as though to say ‘ if I had a heart, this is where it would beat and it would beat for you and only you ’.
The electrifying spark shooting down her spine where their skin touches is almost dizzying–or perhaps it’s the breaths stolen by the Wanderer that she’ll never get back?
She finds herself losing strength in her legs.
And before she faints altogether, she balls her fists and uses all her might to smack the Wanderer on his chest.
He finally pulls away and Lumine lets herself fall to the ground.
“Haa…” She sighs, finally feeling her head clearing from the deliriousness that the kiss brings.
She expects the hard ground to scrape her knee but it never does. Instead, she notices a sturdy arm around her waist pulling her flushed to a firm, perfectly sculpted chest belonging to none other than the chuckling Wanderer.
“You’re so childish.” She complains but rests her cheek against his chest anyway, a small smile gracing her swollen lips.
“But you like me anyway.” He counters.
And Lumine simply wraps her own arms around his waist in response, as though saying ‘ I do .’
***
Later that evening, the two return to the village where Tighnari is occupied while speaking with another fellow forest ranger. Paimon and Collei who are standing a few feet from him are the first to notice the golden Traveler and the violet Wanderer.
“Hey, what took you two so long?! Paimon had to float there and listen to Tighnari babble–uh, Paimon means teach until Paimon got dizzy from all that knowledge crammed in Paimon’s head!”
“Sorry, Paimon, I went looking for Scaramouche but got lost. It’s a relief we met each other somewhere along the way. The trees were starting to look the same after a while.” Lumine explains and shoots Scaramouche a ‘don’t say anything’ look when he lifts an eyebrow at her elaborate lie.
“That’s understandable, even the best of our rangers get lost. It’s a relief you returned before Sundown. Teacher was about to gather a few rangers to look for you two.” Collei  interjects.
“Thankfully, there’s no need for that. It’s very kind of Tighari though–if we couldn’t make it to the village by the time the sun sets, we would probably camp for the night and try again the next day. Getting lost comes with the daily life of an adventurer!” Lumine chuckles and scratches the back of her non-itchy head.
“We should’ve done that.” Scaramouche thinks aloud.
‘I could have had Lumine all to myself,’ is what he keeps to himself.
The air stills for a moment as neither person present knows how to interpret his passing comment let alone respond to it.
“A-anyway, is there a place we could get dinner? A restaurant maybe? I’m starving!” Lumine forces out a laugh.
“There’s one! I always go there when I don’t feel like cooking.” Collei snaps her fingers and just like that they begin to walk down the village path as Collei gushes over the sweet juiciness of the restaurant’s Tandoori Roast Chicken.
“Oh, Paimon’s been meaning to ask… Traveler, did you get into a fight with an enemy? You have a cut on your lip.”
At the mention of the very obvious thin red line on her lip, Lumine freezes.
“O-Oh yeah, we got jumped by a group of fungi on our way here,”
“Hmm, that’s odd, you usually take care of them in seconds. Oh well, Paimon suppose even the best fighter gets hurt every once in a while.”
“Yeah, that’s right…” Lumine willfully agrees.
“Heh.” And Scaramouche smirks.

Tickletober Week 2: Revenge
ScaraLynLumi Part 2 of 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
read part 1 here
A/N: Inspired by this incredible scara lyney art I commissioned by @ppystkposts ❤️❤️❤️
Summary: Wanderer gets his revenge~
Characters: lee!Lyney, ler!Wanderer, spectator Lumine
“He did WHAT? Oh, he’s dead. Where is that little-”
“Kasacchi! Wait!!”
Too late. Wanderer had already sped off with his anemo jet boosters. There was no way Lumine could catch up to him now.
“In front of an entire crowd… Unbelievable! I swear, when I find him I’m gonna-”
“Excuse me, sir. No flying in the theater, please.”
Wanderer stopped in his tracks, still hovering above the ground. He looked down at the theater attendant. “Where is that little magician punk?”
“L-Lyney? He should still be backstage- Hey! I said no- Oh, forget it.”
Wanderer rushed towards the stage, bursted through the curtains, and landed backstage. He searched around for a minute or so, until he almost ran into Lynette.
“Careful,” she said
“Where’s your brother?”
“He’s putting props away, why do you- and he’s gone.”
“Hey,” Lumine waved down the theater attendant. “Did you happen to see anyone, uh, fly through here?”
“As a matter of fact, I did. He went backstage.”
“Thank you!” Lumine ran off in that direction.
“No running in the theater, young lady! Ugh, what is with people today!?”
Wanderer skirted around another corner and paused. A glimmer of light had caught his eye. He hovered over to it and, lo and behold, it was from the cat embellishment on Lyney’s hat!
“Gotcha!” Wanderer dive-bombed the magician, landing on top of him.
“WaAAH! Whoa there!” Lyney blinked in disbelief. “Kasacchi?”
Wanderer glanced down at the rope Lyney was holding and smirked.
“D-did, uh, did Lumine tell you about- Wait, what’re you-”
Wanderer snatched the rope, quickly tying Lyney’s wrists together.
“H-hey! You don’t have to do this!”
“Oh, but I do. You’re coming with me.”
And with that, Wanderer lifted Lyney up, carrying him bridal style. He flew behind another set of smaller curtains (presumably the changing room), causing Lyney’s hat to fall off. He set Lyney down on his knees, grabbing the running end of the rope and tying it to a hook on the ceiling. He sat behind Lyney and said in a low voice, “Did you really think I’d let you get away with a stunt like that?”
“I can free myself, you know. I am a magician after all.”
“Not easily.”
“What do you mea- aH! W-wait!”
Wanderer’s fingers crept onto Lyney’s exposed underarms, preparing to strike.
“C-can we talk about this?”
“Mm… No.”
“EEEHEHEHAHAHAHA NAHAHAHAHAHA!”
“How’s it feel, huh?”
“IHIHIT TIHAHAHAHAHA! TIHIHICKLES!”
“Oh, does it?”
“EEHEHEYAHAHAHAHAAAA! NAHAHAHAHAT THEHEHEHEHERAHAHAHAHAHA!”
“Lynette! Do you know where Kasacchi went?” Lumine asked.
“He went over-”
“AAAAHHHHH! AHAHAHAHAAAAA!”
“Did. Did you hear that?” Lumine looked around worriedly.
“That sounded like Lyney.”
“I think it came from over there,” Lumine pointed to the changing room.
The laughter became clearer as the two walked over towards the room. They saw Lyney’s hat on its side sitting just outside the curtains.
“Lyney…?” Lumine said as she drew back the curtains.
“Lumine! Lynette!” Lyney exclaimed.
The girls watched as Wanderer’s right hand curled into Lyney’s right armpit while his left hand squeezed a sweet spot on Lyney’s left thigh.
“Please, you have to help mehEHEHEHE NOHOHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”
Lyney was beyond embarrassed. How could he let the Traveler see him in such a position!?
Lynette covered her mouth and giggled softly. She looked at Lumine, “Well, he does kind of deserve it…”
Lumine could not stop staring at the scene in front of her.
“You’re on your own, brother. Have fun, you three.” Lynette closed the curtains behind her and left.
“WAHAHAHAHAHAIT! LYNEHEHETTE! Come bahahAHAHAHAHAHACK! LUMIHIHIHIHIHINE! HEHEHEHELP MEHEHEHEHEHEHEE!”
“Are you gonna help or not, Traveler?” Wanderer smiled at Lumine.
Lumine kneeled down in front of Lyney. It was too hard to resist—Lyney looked so cute and helpless tied up like that. She placed her hands on his inner thighs.
“Good choice,” Wanderer said, moving his left hand back up. He rested his hands on Lyney’s armpits, waiting for Lumine to make a move.
“Lumine, please, I beg you, don’t help him, help meEEEEAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA! STAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!” Lyney’s face flushed bright red.
Lumine gently scratched Lyney’s inner thighs while Wanderer dug his fingers into Lyney’s underarms.
“PLEEEHEHEHEHEEASE! I’M GONNA DAHAHAHAHAHAHAIEEEE!”
“He’s just as ticklish as you, Kasacchi!”
“Don't make this about me,” Wanderer blushed. He leaned in closer to Lyney’s ear and said, “You must really like this, huh? You’re not fighting back at all.”
Lyney felt like he was going to explode. “IHIHI DOHOHOHOHOON’T!” he whined.
Lumine began squeezing Lyney’s thighs, trying to find that sweet spot Wanderer had found earlier. “I thought you loved this, Lyney,” Lumine said, pouting.
“DON’T TELL HIM THAHAHAHAHAT!!”
“Figures,” Wanderer said.
“As if you don’t enjoy it too, Kasacchi~” Lumine teased.
“Wha-!? I-I don’t!”
That brief moment of hesitation was all Lyney needed to finally free his hands. He held onto the rope instead, not wanting the others to know he had escaped just yet.
“You certainly seemed like you were enjoying it during our performance~” Lyney chimed in.
“You really think you’re in a position to make comments like that right nahAHAHAHAHAHAHA!?”
Lyney reached back and squeezed right above Wanderer’s knees.
“OHO NOHOHO YOU DOHOHOHON’T!” Wanderer grabbed Lyney’s waist, squeezing up and down his sides and hips.
Lumine giggled at the sight in front of her. She reached for both of them, skittering her fingers across the sensitive skin under Wanderer’s knee and wiggling her thumb into a spot between Lyney’s upper thigh and hip that she knew drove him crazy.
“NOHOHOHOHO! STAHAHAHAHAHAHAP!” Wanderer yelled.
“AHAHAHAHAHA LUHUHUMIHIHIHIHIHINE!!” Lyney cried.
The boys leaned back onto the floor and Lumine took the opportunity to sit on Lyney’s left leg and Wanderer’s right, pinning them both. “You two need to get over yourselves,” she said, grabbing Lyney’s thigh with her left hand and Wanderer’s with her right, skillfully tickling both of their inner thighs. “Convenient you’re both super ticklish here~”
“PLEHEHEHEHEASE LUHUMIHIHIHINE!!” Lyney begged.
“THAT’S NOT FAHAHAHAHAIR!” Wanderer objected.
She “tormented” them for a few more minutes, targeting spots she knew were very ticklish for both of them.
“How are you all still doing this, it’s been like twenty minutes.”
“Lynette!?” Lyney and Lumine said simultaneously.
“Wrap it up, will you? You said we could eat out tonight, Lyney. I’m getting hungry.” She closed the curtains again.
The boys laid still on the ground, panting. After a moment, Lyney asked Lumine and Wanderer, “Would you two like to join us?”
“Are you serious!?” Wanderer asked incredulously.
“I would love to! Let’s go, Kasacchi!”
“You need to get off of us first.” Wanderer said matter-of-factly.
“Oh! Right,” Lumine said, mildly embarrassed.
“We’ll be ready in a few, Lynette!” Lyney called out to his sister.
“Cool, you owe me three desserts. One from each of you.”

The fact that he was always by the side of the famous Traveler only fueled the curiosity about him.
