Is it just me? Or is the latest arc of Mairuma is the best damn yet?

Because I've got to say; that's one of the best damn arc in the series which is already a hard bar to cross. Not only did it dive deeper into worldbuilding and explore the political impact of connection with powerful figures (something most shounens VERY rarely ever explore) but Nova has been one of the best highlight of that arc.

Many times, Shounen mangas has cover stories of dreams, goals, wishes based on desire, passion, revenge to move a plot forward. However, I don't think there's ever a one like Nova; a child who see himself in the future black-ears child and was thinking of their future and the path he could carve for them as much as he wants to carve for himself.

Yes, there are stories of a character who sees flaws in a system and tries to correct or make it better. But what makes this arc more unique is the fact Nova was never implied to be mistreated (again, something very different from other shounen. Though it's a strech because the many-ears as a whole has been mistreated). The Chief is shown to love Nova and Nova LOVES his tribe in return. But it is implied that Nova's disability made him be infatilized by the tribe. Thus, alliniating him in the process. They don't hate him for being different, they pity him. And the author manage to make that a tragedy.

Yet, Nova not only see he has worth more than the tribe's says, he saw worth in his race more than the tribe can see. Making him the most inspiring character in the series. Heck, he inspire even Iruma.

Which makes this why this is the best goddamn arc; writing about a goal to incite change for a flawed system or belief, and also to carve a path not just for the general future generation, but also for disabled or margianalized people who will have more choices open in the future.

And I think that's the most compeling reason written in a most beautifully executed arc in the whole damn shounen series I've ever read and I will never get over this.

okay so first is Scalla- she is a sentient mote of magic that developed into a human shape and has just been existing. she is easily affected physically by the world around her and her own thoughts so when she got traumatized she went feral as a defense mechanism until she got therapy but after therapy her best friend died so she became feral again and then she got forced into her mind by a depressed merman elf guy and fixed her mental health herself.

Then Ajax is a good precious home boy who made a deal in a dream like, desperate state with a ancient eldrith being to save the world and it haunts him at every turn. he turned into a titan monster based off of various sharks and wrestled a depressed merman elf that also turned into a titan monster but one based of angler fish. he got better.

A little bit under half my face is swollen due to luxury bones not being taken care of properly. Send me your oc's? And a fact? Maybe?

Omega: Barney. They are a lot like Barney but less Marvel Character like.

dOOrman: I wanna say Nacha? They are quite similar, at least how I characterize Nacha.

Scalla: My gut honestly says Frye like they are silly but they cannot win at anything for some reason.

🌻: Who would your self-insert say that their biggest role model is?

Omega: They would say their older brother Stephen, or their mom Delta. They want to be as brave and generous as both of them.

dOOrman: The whole of the D.D.D.! They have faith in the organization and they wish to embody all those traits.

Scalla: Who doesn't Scalla look up to? Of course their mom and dad are their role models, but they also see their adoptive dad Octavio as a role model. And Pearl and Marina of Off The Hook.

❓: What’s a random fact about your self-insert that you want to share?

Omega: They actually have a messed up knee and then running is causing like actual problems.

dOOrman: They have SHIT luck that's why they hate that FUCKING clown.

Scalla: They chew on their tentacles when they get nervous or stressed. This is something they did as a baby and never stopped.

Scalla is magic so her hair doesn't change unless she wants it (she doesn't know that) or a outside force influences it (entropy).

Ajax does his hair himself. I headcanon that when his hair is really long he twists it into dreadlocks. he likes it short tho.

(jumping off your headcanon for tomix, i know have the idea that in one of the random visits to ravenloss after his injury Ajax helps give him a hair cut)

it's been a hot two days since I almost forgot, but the fact barbers exist in Dragonfable implies that in Dragonfable, hair grows.

What hair headcanons do you have? Which characters do you think do their own hair vs. going to a barber?

I'll start. I think Tomix did his own hair (for the most part) during the hunt, until his hand damage prevented him from doing so.

Scalla doesn't know what these words mean, she is in armor or she is not and if she is not she is sleeping or fishing.

Ajax on the other hand fucking loves sweaters. He isn't on top of the fashion game, but if he can wear a sweater he is all over it. He still tries to be practical cause being a hero means taking time out of your day to do something kind. probably has three sets of those dad pants with all the pockets (one had nothing but candy and he 100% forgets to take the candy out of that pocket. the laundry incident of '39 shall never be spoken of again...).

I'm a fan fo your reactions, and I personally view the Scalla arc as the best one yet.

Not to mention the little gags and Narnia's view on Iruma.

We're approaching a critical point in the story. Things are soon gonna start spiraling and there won't be a stone for us to hold on to.

Jacopo Tissi Joins Dutch National Ballet!!

Jacopo Tissi, former principal of the Bolshoi Ballet and guest principal of Teatro alla Scalla, is joining the Dutch National Ballet as a principal dancer!!! Very happy for him!!
