Sayonara Silent Night is about Kaoru and nothing can change my mind about it

i actually thought it was gonna be about yumi and yadda yadda, but since it's kinda implied that bakamitai is dedicated to her then sayonara silent night must definitely be for kaoru. I'd like to believe the devs intentionally made this song with her mind because the references are oddly specific and it'd be pretty wasted if it wasn't.

take the title for example, “Sayonara Silent Night”, which could be referring to the original soundtrack of yakuza 2's credits right after kiryu and kaoru's kiss—— and it is called Silent Night.

where does kiryu sing this song? in a bar in sotenbori. and where does the song's cinematic take place?

on top of that the song is about a couple breaking up but still staying on friendly terms

and while the woman moved on....

the man hasn't; he still has romantic feelings for her and feels heartbroken thinking that she might be with someone else.

keep in mind that this game came out before IW so at that point kiryu had no idea that kaoru was pining for him and that handsome american cop got ditched into the shadow realm (lol); i read somewhere that even though gaiden came out first they had planned out the story for IW first and gaiden second so i don't think I'd be in the wrong to assume that they made a love ballad riddled with kaoru references after getting her lifelink done.

gaiden was kiryu's ultimate farewell to yumi, but i like to think that with this song he was saying goodbye to kaoru too.

they will never confirm the references but to me this is the kazukaoru love ballad™ and i will die on this hill

Then Akasuki started to cough again as she spat up some blood...Pao her oldest son ran to his mother's side and wiped her mouth

SAUDADE — PornoGraffitti Cherry’s theme, as heard in Bullet Train (2022)

   For Cherry’s title in the soundtrack, I started by digging deep into Brazilian music to reflect her culture and upbringing. When I couldn’t find anything that hit quite right, I turned toward the Japanese covers of “Stayin’ Alive” and “Holding out for a Hero” for inspiration. Saudade is a uniquely Portuguese term that conveys a sense of longing and incompleteness. It can be an insatiable desire, particularly because the saudade can be for something that never quite existed in the first place. The track by PornoGraffitti is more or less a standard love song, but with a strong Latin influence. It takes on a twist if one considers that Cherry, forever chasing after new thrills, may feel saudade for her own happiness...

#18 Night Life - Hello Atlantic 

The city is silent but that’s only because the sorrowful symphony stopped singing ages ago. It’s cold out.  The frigid chill of the eerie moonlight glow clinging to the skin of any who dare set off in this ... town.  Is that what this is?  A town? 

It was. 

But no longer.   

Standing in the center of this scene of sayonara is one singular swordsman. His head is tipped down, looking at the mess that paints the ground around him with a deep running crimson that slowly seeps into the land.  It looks like a battlefield... nay ... a massacre.  Mist pools throughout the area covering all it touches - buildings,  roads and bodies alike. 

There was no place for mercy, and that singular swordsman standing at center remains ghostly still.  Is he.. alive? Is he ... aware?  Is he ... responsible?  His blade is in his hand, light glistening off the crystal making the life that runs over it’s surface all the more visible. It drips to pool on the ground below. 

The sound of footsteps draws his attention and slowly does his head rise to turn to see a man he hasn’t seen in some time. That strange man from before who said he relocated here. Jade looks at him blankly a veil of crimson sticking to porcelain as he turns. 

“ Do you hear the heartbeats? “  His voice rings out in near monotone - a cloud of red falling from his lips; Mist mixing with the crimson that runs over his features. His eyes look forward, almost through the man in question while his hand only tightens down on the hilt still caught in his grip.  There’s something otherworldly about the way this swordsman seems to glow.  He looks like a wants an answer but there’s.... no one else here.
