Adopted!Tsuna story would be interesting if only to see Iemitsu's reaction to his 'son' bluntly refuse him and have a loving foster father instead.

And Nana begin confronted with the fact she's a awful mother and Tsuna wants absolutely nothing to do with her or her useless husband and their 'perfect happy family'.

How the relationship with the heir will be on long run? Iemitsu won't accept the foster family, he'd want/demand to be Tsuna's father. To have control over his life.

Timoteo would attempt to force a reconciliation for the good of Vongola since Iemitsu's CEDEF Head and the foster family hate his guts with passion and Tsuna won't consider him a 'grandfather'.

Having his heir so openly against him would be really bad. Vongola won't be Tsuna's family or home. Timoteo couldn't simple do what he pleases with him since his parents aren't that dumb bitch Sawada Nana. He won't even get to speak to Tsuna alone.

Reborn trying to get ahold of the foster family, thinking it would be easy to manipulate them. Then getting told to fuck off. We do not need a home tutor. Out of my house.

They had been careful, oh so very careful, in continuing their arrangement. Nobody talked about it, there was no reason given, it was simply an unspoken agreement based on their shared uneasiness of the Ninth Generation.

Maybe they hadn’t been careful enough.

Tsuna has no idea what the Ninth knows, what Iemitsu knows, nor does he have any idea of what they think about it. All he knows is that it got him in this fucked up situation and it’s messing with his head. Tsuna resists the urge to close his eyes in exhaustion and forces himself not to tremble.

His mother keeps on talking excitedly, all three men sitting around her and pretending to listen. Or maybe that’s just Tsuna. He feels a little guilty about it underneath the sea of terrified fury and betrayal. When his mother had insisted on spending a holiday with him, Tsuna had thought nothing of it. He hadn’t expected the ambush.

He hadn’t expected his mother to play along either and maybe he should have. Maybe is foolish to think otherwise, Nana understands very little and has been told nothing at all, no matter how much Tsuna hates it. To her, she’s probably trying to mend a father-son relationship that has hit one too many bumps along the way.

It’s so much more than that, though. And Tsuna finds himself forced to endure Timoteo’s and Iemitsu’s flames bearing down on him. They keep trying to force his flames into some sort of submissive compliance, intentions disguised as something kinder, it makes Tsuna’s skin crawl.

Or maybe Tsuna is reading too much into it. Maybe they want the easy resonance that Tsuna’s and Xanxus’ flames have finally fallen into, about a year and some more months after their first night of silent companionship. Maybe that’s all it is or maybe Tsuna is right to be wary. It doesn’t matter. The feeling of their flames insistently pushing against his skin is terrifying and irritating in equal measures. Disturbing.

A shower is just one of the things he wishes for. For a second, he allows himself to wish for Reborn, who even to this day he can’t help but think of as invincible, for Xanxus, who is an expert at redirecting this two powerful men. But even now, feeling the edges of the broken seal flaring on his forehead, he can’t quite wish this on the older man and Reborn is on a mission, far out of reach.

Just one more night, he reminds himself, just one more. Endure this much and then escape, he’ll know to look out for this in the future. He won’t be caught unaware anymore.

That night, like the others, Tsuna can’t go to sleep. He stays awake, not even bothering to change into his nightclothes, and lets the wine calm his nerves. He thinks he can do it, it’s only one more night and tomorrow morning he’ll be gone as fast as politeness allows. Maybe he jinxed himself.

Flames bare down on him, far more insistent, far less subtle, than all the previous days. It leaves Tsuna gasping, skin overheated to the point his fingers start charring the glass he’s holding. But Tsuna resists the urge to let his flames out, he will not give these two men access to his will.

Instead, hoping that the phone’s flame-resistant technology will survive long enough, Tsuna reaches for his phone and calls Gokudera. Let his right-hand man stage a rescue, Tsuna is sure Reborn will forgive him this lapse in gentlemanly behaviour.

“Tenth?”

Tsuna can only gasp. The flames bearing down on him turn hotter and Tsuna half bites back a sob. It seems to he answer enough.

“I’ll let mama know there was an emergency. We’ll have extraction ready in five, boss. Less if the Varia can help.” Gokudera sounds so angry, so worried.

The warmth in his chest is half overheating from keeping his own flames so tightly constrained and half grateful bewildered love. “Thank you, Hayato.”

I.

There is a moment, when Sawada Iemitsu looks down at his five year old son, his cute, shy, perfect little Tsuna, and the voice in his head -- that irritating, always spot-on instinct his family is reknown and feared for, the intuition that has never once lead him wrong -- tells him this boy will burn everything you hold dear to the ground.

He drops the child -- his sweet, gentle Tuna fish, his son -- in shock. Tsuna screams in fear, but luckily doesn’t hurt himself from the fall. 

[Though the boy never lets Iemitsu throw him up into the air again.]

Later, Iemitsu will shake the eery feeling off. Will push it aside and convince himself of the folly of his five year old son being in any way, shape or form a threat. It helps that his intuition never flares up again, not with that intensity. But an uneasy feeling remains, and though Nana is sad to see her husband leave so soon, eagerly waits for him to return, it will be eight years before Iemetsu returns to visit his family for a meaningful length of time.

He’ll find Tsuna a downtrodden, cowardly boy, bullied and friendless and so very unsure of himself and the darkest part of Iemitsu -- the part he will never admit to -- breathes easier for it.

Now why would anybody, so early in the morning, be shouting such threats to our dear favorite sadistic hitman tutor?

For that my dear readers, we need to go back in time

Silence.

Usually, the Sawada household is known to be the noisiest house ever in Namimori due to the exotic people living there together. Gunshots, yelling, bombs, grenade could be seen flying all over the house and no matter the time, any of those could be heard. So why is that it's deadly silent now?

Maybe it could be because Sawada Ienari is away for a soccer match or maybe because the Sawada Nana is taking for a friend who fell ill and will be staying with her? Maybe it's because Fuuta, and I-pin and Bianchi are currently staying at Nebesa for who knows what reason?

But that makes no sense since there are other exotic members still present in the household. Sawada Tsunayoshi with his demon-in-disguise partner, Reborn, the ever faithful and loyal puppy, Gokudera Hayato, the oblivious to the core baseball player, Yamamoto Takeshi, the snotty and the loudest/youngest member, Lambo Bovino, the pineapple family, Rokudo Mukuro and Chrome Dokuro and lastly the skylark, Hibari Kyoya.

Why is it that Gokudera is not having a one-sided fight with Yamamoto? Why is Lambo not trying to kill Reborn? Why are Mukuro and Kyoya not fighting? Why is Chrome fidgeting more? Why is Reborn not trying to do anything sadistic?

Why is Sawada Tsunayoshi emitting such a dangerous KI?

Maybe that seems to be the reason why everyone is silent. Maybe the strong bloodlust emitting from the usually kind and cheerful brunet is the cause to everyone's unusual behavior.

Reborn, who is forever going to deny of even being a teensy tiny bit of scared from the brunet, decided to break the silence.

"Tsuna... is something wrong?" asked Reborn albeit hesitantly. Considering how Tsuna was mercilessly cutting the vegetables as though they were human heads was plainly... terrifying. What's more, you could definitely hear words that the brunet is muttering like murder, maid dress, grenades, reptiles, wild animals etc.  

Tsuna stopped cutting vegetables and Reborn swore that he saw an imaginary light bulb appear on the brunet's head.

"Ne Reborn..." asked Tsuna. Everyone straightened further; not liking how sickeningly sweet the brunet's voice sounded.  

"Do you want to help me murd- I mean tort- I mean tutor, Ienari?"

He definitely was about to say "murder" and "torture," wasn't he?!

Silence prevailed again. Most probably to let the sentence sink in.

Once it did, all hell broke loose.

Gokudera, Chrome and Yamamoto froze. Lambo spit out the drink he was drinking that landed on Gokudera's face yet he did not do a thing. Mukuro and Kyoya widened their eyes. Reborn looked at Tsuna with a weird glint in his eyes.

Everybody thought of one thing. Is he finally going to take revenge?

"Sure... but why" Reborn asked tilting his fedora upwards to meet his partner's eyes, which, by the way, were cold as ice.

"Stress Relieving." That one word was enough to bring chills within the rest.

Tsuna started chuckling evilly and everyone else could only pray to God to never be subjugated to Tsuna's punishment when he wants to 'relieve stress.'

'.'.'.'.'.'.'.' The Next Day '.'.'.'.'.'.'.'

XXX.....[3 A.M].....XXX

2 demons entered a certain blonde's room, who was blissfully unaware of his impending doom. The two demons glanced at each other and one took out a rope while the other a duct tape. It was then, you could clearly see the smirk on their faces as they proceeded towards the blonde.

The alarm sounded and the sleepy and unaware blonde tried his best to shut the dame alarm while failing miserably. Once he got tired, he opened his eyes to find where he kept his alarm when he noticed that he wasn't on his soft, comfy bed but rather at a really hard and rocky surface... while hanging upside down.

"GYAAA, WHY AM I HANGING UPSIDE DOWN?!"

Completely woken up, he loked around and noticed him hanging off a cliff thats 100ft tall! Trying to move around, he finally took notice of something that would definitely put him to shame....

"WAH! WHY AM I WEARING A MAID'S COSTUME?!" he yelled, trying his best to think it's his imagination.

Growl¬

Now that did not seem friendly. He was afraid of what he would see... hesitantly he craned his necks towards the bottom and...

"HIEEEE! WHY ARE WILD ANIMALS ROAMING AROUND FREELY?!"

Reborn could only think of one person that could be capable of doing this and so he screamed at the top of his lungs, "REBORN, I"LL KILL YOU!!"

-And that my friends brings us back to the present.

"Ciaossu!" Reborn's voice resounded from the top of the cliff

"DON'T 'CIAOSSU' ME! WHERE AM I?!"

"Can't you see you are hanging on a cliff?" Reborn's condescending voice came.

"I CAN SEE THAT! WHY AM I HERE?!"

"Punishment"

"WHY?!"

"Just because..."

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT?!"

A bullet grazed past Ienari's cheek. "Shut up, this is training punishment. Good luck on survival."

Without letting Ienari say anything, Reborn disappeared. He hung there for a while when he heard something being cut. When he noticed, his eyes bulged out.

"OI REBORN! COME BACK HERE! GET MY OUT OF HERE!!"

He yelled, while keeping his eyes at the contraption slowly cutting the rope he's being hung with.

While Ienari was shouting and yelling and begging for help, Tsuna and Reborn could be seen observing from the distance while drinking their favorite coffees. Others who with them could only pity the victim.... now did they?

Reborn decided that yes, Tsuna was fun being around with, especially if they had to torture Ienari. But I wonder who taught him to be this sadistic? After all, how is it possible for a kind, innocent and shy brunet to be able to complete this?

He saw how Ienari was running around like a headless chicken in a torn up maid dress with supposedly extinct species of animals following after him. He could also see Tsunayoshi filming this entire thing from various angles. Let's not even mention the fact that Ienari just so happens to be running with people glancing at him and taking pictures while whispering some embarrassing things for Ienari, if the blush on Ienari's face isn't proof enough, Reborn doesn't knows what else can be.

Reborn can also say that Tsuna is pretty strong by himself. If carrying pepper sprays, tasers knockout darts in his watch (where did he get that?), darts filled with poison and sedatives (again, where does he gets all these stuff from?) combined with other weapons in his bottomless pocket... Tsuna's a waking arsenal. Hell, he managed to keep a gun in there! Not to mention, he's somehow using all those weapons he has to make Ienari's life more miserable...

"Tsuna, where did you get all of these... killing gadgets from?"

Tsuna merely smiled innocently in response. That smile would be convincing if he wasn't holding a poison filled darts and aiming it for his brother...

"2 technicians in Nebesa created these upon my request," Reborn cursed those stupid technicians for that. "They even created a robots army to ward off any mafias or stupid beings."

Reborn didn't ask for more. Nebesa was strong, Reborn decided. He just didn't how strong. He returned his attention to Ienari who was screaming his lungs out as the extinct wild species of animals were coming closer to him.

Growl~

Reborn looked as a Jaguar came to Tsuna and dipped its head in submission.

"Aki! There you are!" Tsuna said pleased, handing the camera to Reborn to continue taking the movie.

"...Tsuna?"

"Hmm?"

"You keep a Jaguar as a pet?"

"Not just a Jaguar but also an Owl named "Kyo" which is used for keeping a look out for enemies and a medium size black bird named "Shi" that I use for replying etc, you've already met Shi remember? When we started the playtime activity of ours? I also have a lion named "NaTsu," if you're wondering."

"...What do you use the Jaguar and lion for?"

"Scaring enemies. They're quite useful. And they have a name!"

Reborn merely nodded and decided to ignore the Jaguar that was purring. He didn't even know they could purred. He directed his attention to his student who was now being cornered by the animals.

"Tsuna, make sure to give me a copy of the film later onwards," Reborn said mischievously.

"Sure."

It was then that Reborn noticed a red blinking light coming from Tsunayoshi's touch screen phone (where did he even get that from?). Reborn blinked twice before clarifying,

"Tsuna?"

"Hmm?"

"Is the film by any chance being..."

Tsuna's smirked widened, "Live filming. Broadcasted around the whole world."

Tsuna spared a glance at Reborn before smiling evilly, "Wait till you hear how Nebesa was formed..."

How the Varia take care of Fran when’s ill;

Lussuria: dotes on Fran and brings him food and drinks. Only makes him healthy meals (mostly soup) and doesn’t let him snack. Fixes scented bubble baths for him, even when he becomes a teenager

Levi: Will get Fran manga and books to help keep him entertained, but will sniff and say it’s to stop him from being a whiny brat. When Lussuria is out he’s usually the one to ensure Fran is fed and hydrated

Mammon: Doesn’t mind when Fran orders a few more movies past their quota on his television. He knows how boring it can be being confined to bed to prevent overexertion, and how it feels not to have the option of medication to take away the aches and pains

Squalo: Is the one who keeps Fran’s fever levels monitored, to satisfy his own agitation and worries. Won’t leave Fran be unless he has a fever 101 degrees Fahrenheit or below

Belphegor: Lets Fran rest for the duration of his illness, though he doesn’t cut back on his verbal taunts. Will sneak him junk food and soda when Lussuria isn’t watching

Xanxus: Doesn’t get much rest during the night when Fran is ill. Frequently checks on him, feeling to see if his skin is hot and if he’s breathing normally. Will bring extra blankets if Fran is too cold or remove them if he thinks it’s making his fever worse

Guardians reacting to Hibari’s destructiveness:

Tsuna: Is always exasperated and endlessly frustrated, because there are very pretty things in the mansion that Hibari destroys needlessly. He knows he can’t do much about it and intervenes if it gets out of control

Gokudera: Gets angry, because broken buildings and dead bodies result in a mountain of paperwork that he has to do. More often than not he’ll attempt to restrain Hibari, resulting in various injuries or complete unconsciousness (but Hibari silently respects his persistence)

Yamamoto: Is not very helpful and just laughs it off. The desire for destruction is part of Hibari and he wouldn’t want to change it. There’s no point in trying to stop him so he just observes with amusement. Will help out with the cleaning process

Ryohei: Is completely enraptured by Hibari’s ability to destroy. He uses immeasurable force and strength and watching Hibari bite things to death has the same energy as attending a boxing match

Chrome: Will just watch Hibari with bemusement and confusion. She doesn’t quite get how one person could contain such destructive energy, but Mukuro is the same way so she learns to just go with it. Is the only one along with Tsuna who can bring Hibari’s rampage to a halt if need be

Lambo: The second he hears the sound of glass shattering or something smashing he takes off running. He doesn’t want to risk being in the path of destruction and figures it’s always better to take cover and wait it out

Mukuro: Is utterly useless and is usually the cause of Hibari biting everything to death in an attempt to get to him. He takes great amusement in taunting Hibari and makes it a goal to see just how much damage he can goad Hibari into making

Tsuna loves his mother very much. She can be oblivious and sometimes negligent, but she’s always tried her best and he knows she loves him more than anything. When she finally learned of her family’s Mafia history, she supported him fully, insisting he talk to her whenever he needed to. He does, and during the year she spends in Namimori while everyone is in Italy, he makes sure she has enough money and is taken care of, and they speak every day.

He and his father have their conflicts and differences. Tsuna harbours some resentment that Iemitsu was never around during his childhood and he didn’t tell him the truth about his work until Tsuna was thrown into the heart of it. Iemitsu doesn’t always listen to Tsuna and has his own method of going about things. But Tsuna knows, despite the way his father handles things, Iemitsu loves him and Nana, and Tsuna loves him. He made sure they were taken care of, setting them up in a nice neighbourhood and sending Tsuna to a good school. When the chips are down and Tsuna needs his father the most, he will be there.

Okay, maybe he wasn’t telling himself the exact truth. And that was a hard pill to swallow in it of itself. He hates to lose to anyone – even if it is himself.

Tsunayoshi is the name people whisper across most worlds.

(Sometimes it’s Ieyoshi, others it’s Tsunahime but it’s still Tsunayoshi – after all what’s in a name? Sometimes it’s not Tsunayoshi at all; whether it’s someone under the guise of Tsunayoshi or it’s someone completely different. Those worlds don’t last long. If they do there’s chaos rampart and no peace in sight.)

To the people that know about the worlds, Tsunayoshi is praised like a god. In some worlds he’s the end, the beginning, or a stepping stone in-between. Tsunayoshi is never all those things. Sometimes he’s two of those things and in the worlds that he’s both the beginning and the end; nothing really makes sense.

Tsunayoshi is the catalyst. Tsunayoshi is the tool. Tsunayoshi is the sacrifice.

In those worlds Tsunayoshi never truly feels happy.

In those worlds his significant other dies. Kyoko, Haru, Hayato, Takeshi, Dino, Kyoya, Bianchi, Ryohei, Hana, Renato, Fon, Cherep, Colonello, Nagi, Mukuro, Spanner, Shoichi, Azucar, Belphegor- The world burns because of it.

In those worlds his mother is dead. Nana targeted because of her connections to the mafia – it doesn’t matter if it’s before everything happens or after.

In those worlds, sometimes, it’s good his mother is dead, but his father dies along with her. Iemitsu’s heart is big like that in those worlds and the world burns because of it.

In those worlds his guardians die. In those worlds his guardians crack. The world burns because of it.

In those worlds Tsunayoshi doesn’t get a chance to get involved. Tsunayoshi either lives a short life or a long life of misery. The world burns because of it.

He’s seen all those worlds and maybe there’s something wrong with him, dare he say one of the defective ones, but he wants Tsunayoshi to get a break among all the worlds he’s in. He wants Tsunayoshi to feel satisfied. And that’s a goal that he will have to fight tooth and nail for.

There’s a reason why he let everything in this world work out the way it did. Other versions of himself will mock him for his laziness but they don’t see what he sees. Tsunayoshi is not a tool for them to control. Tsunayoshi is everything and it’s ridiculous how none of them have realized this before.

He’s been in a world without Tsunayoshi’s influence.

It feels empty.

(this could’ve been) a villain’s origin story -- KHR remix

[this fic is my first attempt to write in the KHR fandom. i apologize in advance.]

II.

The first time it happens, Tsuna doesn’t see it coming at all. It’s not the kind of thing one sees coming.

He’s following up on one of the many, many anonymous tips they receive daily, about villain movements, suspicious sightings, potential collaborations, the works. Nowhere in the official Vongola Inc. recruitement speech do they tell you that working for the world’s largest superhero organization mostly means digging through trash and interviewing witnesses, rather than bashing a supervillain’s head in.

Granted, most teams go out and get at least some action and technically Tsuna’s team is no exception. Tsuna is, though.

“You’re more likely to get one of us killed than be of any help!” Mochida had snapped when he’d seen Tsuna trott after the others on their way to the briefing room. “Make yourself useful for once and stay out of the way.”

[In all honesty, Tsuna can’t blame his squad leader. He never thought he, Dame-Tsuna, always too slow, too clumsy, too useless, would get recruited by Vongola Inc. The best, most powerful, most feared superhero organization the world has to offer and they wanted Tsuna.

Of course that turned out to be bullshit. Tsuna should’ve expected nothing less. Should’ve seen it coming. Why doesn’t he ever learn? But he’d been so shocked, so gratefulrelievedelated to know that someone saw something in him. That someone wanted him.

If he’d known all Vongola wanted was Sawada Iemitsu’s son -- his bloodline -- well. Tsuna knows himself well enough to realize that it probably wouldn’t have changed a thing. 

But that doesn’t stop him from wishing it had.]

Mochida is cold and cutting and often cruel, but he’s not a terrible team leader. He takes his responsibilities seriously. And even though Tsuna knows the man doesn’t like him, sees being saddled with Tsuna as some kind of creative punishment by his superiors, Mochida doesn’t let Tsuna’s inability to walk a straight line without running into a a door and his utter lack of super abilities get in the way of their job. It usually ends with Tsuna being sidelined and manning the coffee maschine or the phonelines -- wherever he can cause the least damage -- but Tsuna doesn’t mind much.

Sure, it’s not glamourous, but it’s still little things that need to be done and Tsuna is glad he can be of help, even if his co-workers rarely appreciate it. Mochida doesn’t expect much of anything from him and sometimes that hurts, but he never sets Tsuna up for failure just to have something to laugh at either -- and that means more to Tsuna than it probably should.

Besides it’s not like spending yet another endless day at work, following up on various anonymous tips, 98 percent of which always turn out to be a useless waste of time, is a bad price to pay for a steady job in a respected profession.

It’s only in retrospect that it occurs to Tsuna that what happens next is not at all surprising. That it is almost inevitable. Because no matter how many crazy, paranoid or joking people call the Vongola Emergency line, sooner or later Tsuna was bound to stumble over a nugget of valuable information. That this was why they kept a tip line in the first place -- because it occasionally proves to be useful.

In Tsuna’s defense, he’s pretty sure none of the others expected today’s calls to be real either. They sure wouldn’t have sent him out otherwise.

But here he is. Searching -- read: stumbling through -- a long abandoned warehouse that Tsuna just knows would have Hana sniff in disgust at the utter cliché of it all. Without back-up or any particularly useful weapon.

[His team learned in their first month together not to arm Tsuna with anything he could use to hurt himself with. Or them.]

Staring in horror at the supervillain staring at Tsuna with equal surprise.

At least I’m not the only one caught off-guard, Tsuna thinks hysterically. And he’s allowed to be hysterical when he finds himself trapped alone and unarmed in an abandoned warehouse with Skull De Mort of all people.

[Tsuna doesn’t have many hero-like qualities, but he’s got a lot of free time on his hands when manning the phone lines and pulling graveyard shifts on days where even villains prefer to catch a break and sleep in. Tsuna also, by virtue of his heritage, has access to the kind of high-level intel most field agents can only dream of.

As such, Tsuna has a better understanding on the recently active and inactive supervillains than most.

Whereas the average newsreporter likes to scoff and sniff derisively when Skull De Mort pulls one of his outrageous attacks that always mean impressive amounts of property damage and no civilian deaths because Skull is just an ambitious, loud-mouthed thug with ideas above his station as far as the general public is concerned, Tsuna knows better.

Skull De Mort is an Arcobaleno. As in one of the seven most powerful villains in the entire world. He might not drown the city in blood, but it’s sure as hell not because he can’t do it.

Sure, Skull baffles Vongola Inc. regularly with his antics, but his name is spoken in the same breath as Reborn, Fon or Viper and the point is oh god, Tsuna is gonna die here.]

With perfectly reasonable, if unhealthy amounts of panic and horror fighting for dominance within him, it takes Tsuna several long seconds to realize that Skull isn’t launching into one of his infamous supervillain speeches. Isn’t even throwing glitter bombs at Tsuna -- and those glitter bombs might not kill anyone, but walking into Vongola HQ and leaving a trail of glitter everywhere just might.

Hibari-senpai -- who isn’t even Vongola, is the definition of unaffiliated asset everyone is too afraid to alienate -- hates glitter.

Tsuna is so dead.

Except he still isn’t. He’s been standing here, gaping and panicking for close to five minutes and Skull still hasn’t made his move. In fact, now that Tsuna pays attention, it’s not just his breathing that’s unnaturally loud and heavy in the empty hall. And-- Tsuna squints. Skull doesn’t seem to be leaning against the wall so much as clinging to it and he’s watching Tsuna with a look that no one has ever directed at Tsuna in his life, something that almost looks like, like wariness and-- 

“Are you okay?” Tsuna blurts out before he can think of all the reasons why starting a conversation with an Arcobaleno is a terrible idea.

It’s just— this is a supervillain and that’s terrifying and Tsuna should probably call someone more qualified to deal with this situation, but also this is an injured supervillain and somehow that makes all the difference.

Skull scoffs, ironically putting Tsuna a little more at ease. People always scoff or scowl when he reminds them of his existence, this is no different. Besides it’s hard to take the villain’s derision seriously when he promptly sways on his feet. He’s not wearing his helmet, either, and despite being dressed in the usual black motorcycle suit, Tsuna is pretty sure his violett hair is matted with blood.

“You’re hurt!” he exclaims, horrified. Promptly drops the taser he’s been trying to pull out of his overstuffed bag with shaking hands and rushes towards the villain’s side, who’s eyes widen in alarm as Tsuna approaches.

Somehow that makes it easier to breathe, but it’s not enough to distract Tsuna from the long cut along the man’s temple and the dark bruises on his jaw.

“The Great Skull-sama is fine!” Skull protests frantically.

He’s clearly not, considering he promptly loses his balance when he tries to take a step back. Instinctively, Tsuna reaches out to catch him, realizing a second too late that one, he doesn’t have the strenth to keep the taller man upright and two, Tusna is a walking, talking disaster who inevitably trips and brings Skull down with him. They hit the ground hard enough to knock all the air out of his lungs and land in a graceless heap on the floor.

“Sorry!” Tsuna squeaks, breathless from where his face is smushed against Skull’s padded shoulder. “I’m so sorry, please forgive me, Skull-sama!”

Kami-sama, he’s knocked the poor, already injured man over! Trying to untangle them immediately, Tsuna accidentally rams his elbow into Skull’s side, which earns him a pained groan and Skull another flustered apology.

This is why his team doesn’t take Tsuna on missions. He’s a hazard not just for himself but everyone around him.

Scrambling away from Skull before he manages to kill the guy through sheer clumsiness, Tsuna forces himself to take one deep, steady breath — only one, though, else he’ll have time to think about how stupid what he’s gonna do in a moment really is — and starts to unpack his bag. Tsuna might not carry as many weapons as a Vongola Superhero on duty technically should, but his emergency kit would make any aspiring doctor proud. And Nana too, but that’s because Tsuna’s mom thinks he’s healing the innocent bystanders — "My Tsu-kun has such a gentle heart!" — not himself. 

"What are you doing?!" Skull asks while slowly pushing himself off the floor and into a sitting position.

"I’m just looking for the— there!" Tsuna knew he still has one of Irie’s newest ice packs. He kneads the white package for a few moments to activate it, then holds it out to Skull. "Here. Hold this to your jaw for at least ten minutes, but no longer than thirty. Ichi’s still working on some issues long-term use has on human skin."

Tsuna babbles like he always does when he’s scared. [It drives Mochida crazy sometimes because Tsuna is scared most of the time and Mochida hates babbling.] It doesn’t stop him from noticing the odd look Skull shoots him, a bit like he’s measuring Tsuna’s worth. Except that’s a look he’s intimately familiar with and would recognize anyone, so it’s something close, but not exactly that.

"Please take it, Skull-sama." Tsuna shakes the ice pack lightly, pretends like his hands aren’t trembling when those bright, violett eyes fixate on him. "That looks like it really hurts." 

[He’s not sure if all Arcobaleno carry their superpowers on the outside. If it’s part of the costume, colored contacts and all, or if their bodies are brimming with power to the point where they’re overflowing, where it pours out of them in any shape it can.]

Slowly Skull takes the ice pack. Looks at it as though he doesn’t know what to do with it.

"H-Hold it against your chin, please, Skull-sama." Tsuna busies himself with sorting through his various bandages and tries very hard to pretend his voice isn’t shaking and squeaky like a frightened mouse. "It’ll help keep the swelling down."

"…The immortal Skull-sama heals fast." Skull says the words like a question. Tsuna doesn’t look up, but he can feel the weight of the man’s stare.

Hunching his shoulders, Tsuna pulls what little courage he has together, and stutters, "That doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt, Skull-sama. Please, can you just take it? I— I don’t like seeing people hurt."

Skull is still staring, Tsuna can tell, but it feels less like he wants to lean over and rip Tsuna open to figure out what’s inside, and more like he’s just watching Tsuna drop the disinfect spray for the third time. After a moment, he presses the ice pack to his face and even though Tsuna’s still trembling a bit, he smiles.

"Thank you."

Skull doesn’t reply, but he doesn’t protest when Tsuna tells him to disinfect the gash above his eyebrow — not deep enough to need stitches, thankfully. He draws the line at more bandages, though, which is worrisome. Tsuna is pretty sure the man has at the very least bruised his rips, but Skull is a supervillain, not runaway kitten, and maybe that means he knows what he’s doing.

That would at least make one of them.

Finally convinced that there’s no other injury Skull will let him help with, Tsuna carefully packs up his things again and bids the villain a hesitant goodbye. Which brings up a somewhat awkward point.

"I have to go back to work now and someone might ask where I’ve been." Eventually. Maybe. Tsuna rocks back on his heels, not sure how to put this. "If they ask, they might come here. And you— might not want to be there when they come," is what he settles on.

Skull’s watching him with another strange expression, both eyebrows raised as he watches Tsuna make a fool of himself. "Why?"

Tsuna eeps. [It’s not a full-on shriek, thankfully, but it’s far too close for his comfort.] There’s an intensity to Skull just now that has the hairs of the back of his neck stand up and reminds Tsuna rather violently that he’s talking to an Arcobaleno. That he’s been treating an Arcobaleno’s wounds. For a moment, Tsuna sways on his feet, as though his body wonders whether it should just give up on him completely.

"Ireallyneedtogonow!" Tsuna rushes the words out so fast, they trip over themselves, grabs his bag and high-tails it out of there. "Please take care of yourself, Skull-sama!" he adds over his shoulder, almost walking into the door as he does so.

It’s not until Tsuna is sitting in his comfortingly safe work chair that it occurs to him that not once during the entire, surreal encounter [he still can’t believe he was in the same room as an Arcobaleno and survived] did it occur to him to call Vongola. Because while his gut feeling tells him that Skull got out of that warehouse as soon as Tsuna turned his back on him, he isn’t one hundred percent sure and what if they catch Skull because of him?

Tsuna resolves to spill the whole story as soon as someone asks — he’s a terrible liar and he never promised Skull he wouldn’t tell, not that the man asked himto — and tries not to think too much about the many crimes he committed by letting the chance of catching a supervillain of Skull’s calibre go to waste. Not that anyone would expect Tsuna to catch a supervillain, but still.

[His team returns two hours later, bright-eyed, bruised and breathless with the enthusiasm of a successful mission tangible in the air around them. Mochida even greets Tsuna with a smile and doesn’t scold him when Tsuna drops his tea cup in response and Haru tells him all about the exciting and ultimately successful arrest they’ve pulled off.

No one asks Tsuna where he’s been or if anything interesting happened while they were gone. 

Tsuna tells himself he’s relieved, for Skull’s sake if nothing else, because the pang he feels at the thought that no one would miss me if I was gone has gone beyond pathetic a long time ago.]

Some writers have Nana begin a powerful sky or even another Vongola's line. Iemitsu seduced her because he needed to continue the bloodline, produce a strong child and to keep the Vongola bloodline members in check.

About KHRs Nana, part of me always thought that the reason she is so emotionally unavailable to Tsuna is because his Flames are Sky, Harmony, which specialize in making connections. So when Iemitsu and Nono fuck Tsuna over, I hc the Seal having stifled or destroyed whatever bonds he had, Flame wise as well as more natural ones, like his connection to his mother. To me that would have seemed like sudden postpartum depression on Nana's end. I also hc that she might have her own Seal as well. I wouldn't be surprised if Iemitsu decided that Pretty Lady was going to be his Trophy Wife and used Sky Attraction to lure her in and mimic love with the feeling Sky Flames gave off, or Mist Flames. Or a Seal to keep her Flames Latent like Tsuna's and that ditzy, easily believing personality is a side effect. A lot of good Nana fics have her breaking one of those Seals.
