No Matter Where
Part 4
Genre: Fluff
Pairing: Yuchan x original character
Warnings? None here
Part 1 2 3
*BUZZ BUZZ*
Oh! I forgot to check Yuchan's phone!
I pull it out of my pocket and try to get comfy.
I had one newly missed call and 1 text.
I hate snooping through his phone. But it could be him. I unlock it. What if it's his girlfriend or something? Oh god, what if it is and I see something I don't want to?! Ew… ugh I hate life. I have to check the text at least.
Luckily it's from him:
Yc: Liliana, hey! Practice is impossible to get out of before you head to the club. Would you, I mean. By chance bring it by here? Not having it, is kind of a big deal to my members. I'd really appreciate it and so would they.
Oh boy…
Um. Oh boy.
Me: I, uh. I can? I think? Just pray I can get away from the girls without them coming with or else it will be the most embarrassing night of my life.
Me: Sorry for replying late, I was being a human Barbie doll. XP
Now to devise a plan to get them to let me go. If they go with it, it'll end up one of two ways. 1) They're going to push me and I'll be so embarrassed I'll wanna crawl in a hole. Or 2) they will be so speechless that they won't know how to speak.
*BUZZ BUZZ*
Yc: Haha okay. So that means you are dressed up. Be careful if you are in heels, the sidewalks are a bit cracked.
We ended the conversation with where to go so I could meet him and return his phone. Plus, I had finally figured out a plan… I think? I hope. I start messing with the hair tie that was on my wrist, which normally I only do when I'm super anxious. Then I looked down and groaned..
"Ugh!"
"What's your deal?" Anya asks, eyeing me.
"I hate being dressed up." I say, not lying. Technically.
"Oh shut it and have fun. At least I gave you one thing. And that's only cuz Anya made me!" Ria said, crossing her arms.
"Yeah. Yeah. Yeah." I say, shrugging her off. Thank god she didn't notice me messing with my wrist, she'd know that wasn't the only thing up then.
"We're here!" Ria calls to us excitedly as the car slows to a stop.
"I'll pay I guess." I say, hoping they'll let me.
"Okay." They say in unison.
"Save me a spot in line while I do?" I ask pulling my wallet out of my bag.
"Yeah sure." Anya says and opens the door.
Once they're out, I turn to the driver.
"Excuse me. Sorry. Could you take me to this address? I'll pay for this ride when we get there." I say and at first I thought he'd protest, but eventually agreed.
"Awesome! When I say go. Go fast. Okay?"
I open the car door and the girls look at me.
"Guys! I'll be back as soon as I drop his phone off and get mine back! I'll be safe!" I say closing the door and telling the driver to go quickly.
We took off and I looked out the window to see the girls trying to protest me.
"Well that worked better than expected!" I said laughing so hard at myself.
I pulled out his phone from my pocket.
Me: I'm on my way. I managed to escape them XD
Yc: Is that a good thing or bad? They are already blowing up your phone.
Me: Don't answer them! I'm only a few minutes out. I'll call them when I get there. Sorry!
Yc: Okay, I'll see you soon. :D
Why am I so giddy? I'm so excited and I shouldn't be! I'm only going to exchange phones for crying out loud!!
Yuchan
I bit my lip and smile as I hit send on the message.
"Looks like I'm finally getting my phone back hyung." I say, chuckling.
"Oh yeah? Finally? From the one who stole it?" Donghun says giving me hell for the 800th time.
"Oh knock it off hyung! You know she didn't steal it. She's not even used it to call or message anyone but me.She didn't mean to." I say, rolling my eyes at the eldest of our group.
I really don't think Liliana would do that. She didn't seem like that type. She probably didn't even know who or what I was.
"Earth to Chan!" Bk says, smacking me lightly on the shoulder.
"Oh huh?" I shook my head and stared at him.
"You good?" He asks.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I reply.
"Still thinking about that girl you can't get your mind off of?" He says smirking, loud enough for the others to hear.
"Ah! Hyung! I don't think of her like that!" I could feel my ears getting red.
That's the last time I try to talk to Byeongkwan about a girl. It's totally not what I need tonight. Not while she's on her way over here. Even if it is to bring me back my phone.
"You'll be just fine Chan. She was cute. Don't be dumb." Donghun says as he comes up and ruffles my sweaty hair.
"Ugh, why did I do that?" He says as he stares at his now -not his sweat- sweaty hand. Sehyoon and I started laughing so hard at that point. My nerves were exploding, I needed the outlet.
"Okay back to work you 4. Come on, let's go." Jun called to us to get off the floor.
"I'd like to finish this before 2 a.m. AGAIN." He says trying to be dramatic but being overly so.
"Oh calm yourself, Umbridge." Donghun says sarcastically making all of us burst out laughing even more as we got up to finish our late night practice.
Liliana
The driver pulled up outside of a dance studio. I paid him, plus I gave him an extra tip since he was acting as my getaway driver then I thanked him and got out. He drove away as I stood there looking at the place. It was late, about 10:30 p.m. I'd hoped he was still here.
I grabbed his phone out of my bag and called him. It rang and there was no answer. I did again. Same thing.
"Great, he's probably already gone." I say to myself. You always ruin everything Liliana.
"No. Now stop Lili. You won't start this."
Maybe he is still here and practicing. Good lord I look dumb too. Just shut up and go get your phone back, smart one.
I head to the door and pray it opens. Once I put my hand on the door handle and pull? It opens!
YES! Thank god! Oh shi- it opened. Now I have to go in.
Okay, I got this. I took a step in and looked around. It was dark. I could see but it wasn't well.
The walls were decorated with little drawings. I'd never seen so many. I walk up to them to look at them and get caught up in the designs of the faces and water photoshoots. It was all so beautiful!
*Buzz Buzz Buzz*
I almost screamed. The phone buzzing scared me so bad.
"Hello?" I answer.
"Hello. Wait are you here? I thought I heard someone when the music paused." He said.
"I. Um. I am." I reply nervously.
"Oh! Okay, one second." I heard him answer from inside the room I was closest to.
Then the door opened and he stepped out. I immediately realized I hated what Ria put me in. He was wearing sweatpants, a sleeveless shirt that was way too big for him and Nike sneakers. He looked comfy and amazing. I was uncomfortable. Lord, pray for me.
He saw me, smiled that amazing smile and walked over to see what I was looking at.
"Hey!" He said enthusiastically.
"Hey. You realize it's almost 11 p.m. what are you still doing at, what was it, practice? This late?" I couldn't help but smile at him. My heart skipped and the amount of butterflies in my stomach were unreal.
He laughed.
"We, uh, we practice pretty late usually. Actually our schedule is all over the place. Sometimes it can be 2 a.m. before we're done."
"Oh wow! That's insane! I couldn't imagine that." I say, genuinely shocked.
"Yeah it gets hectic occasionally." He smiles. Ugh, be still my heart.
"Oh, before I forget. Here's your phone Yuchan." I say and hand it to him.
"Oh thanks! Follow me," he says walking towards the door he just came from.
"I'll have to go grab yours from the top of my practice bag. I don't know why I didn't bring it with me." He said shaking his head and laughing under his breath.
He opened the door and I followed him in. It was so much brighter in here and there were others. The guys from the coffee shop, too.
Man the girls would flip right now.
"Wow!" I said a little too loud, as I looked around. Yuchan stops and looks around at me. The others too.
"Sorry! Sorry. I've never been in a studio before." I say nervously twisting the hair tie on my wrist.
"Ooohhh, that's okay. Take a look around while I grab the phone." Yuchan smiled.
"Thanks! I may!" I say as I start walking around just looking at the set up of the place.
The mirrors are so huge! This is so cool. Then my eyes land on myself.
Ugh, god I look awful. I think and turn towards the radio equipment.
"I don't think so." Yuchan said coming up behind me and handing me my phone. I look up and he's smiling.
"I said that out loud, didn't I?" I said hiding my face in my hands.
"You did." He smiled brighter and I blushed.
My face was probably beet red now, like it got when I was embarrassed.
"Oh god." I say under my hands on my face.
"Don't be embarrassed it's okay, I don't think you look awful. I think quite the opposite actually." Yup, now I'm definitely blushing.
"Thank you, Yuchan. But even with my shoe choice?" I say holding my foot out a bit so he can clearly see my black and white high-top converse.
He laughed his high pitched laugh and his eyes smiled too.
I really love his laugh. God I hope I actually thought that one.
"Yes, even your converse look good with your dress."
"Why thank you sir." I laugh and curtsey like Alice to the Red Queen.
*Buzz Buzz Buzz*
"Ugh, I think I liked your phone better. It was quieter." I say looking down at Anya's number, "I'm probably in trouble." I say and grimace slightly.
I answer and hold the phone away from my ear since I know what's coming.
"LILIANA MAY! YOU ARE IN FOR IT WHEN I GET THERE!" I stare at the phone bewildered. I could hear Ria just as loud in the background. Yelling at me. Chan looked just as shocked as I did. He motioned that he was going to go and talk to the other guys while I talked to her, or attempted. What did she mean? And then I realized I forgot to turn off my location.
They got worried. I should have messaged them as soon as I got here.
"Anya, I'm fine. Stay at the club. I'll be back soon." I say trying to get the words between the angry rambling.
"We're already on our way you ass!" Yup. I am in trouble.
"Okay we'll just breathe. I'm fine. I'll see you when you get here I guess." I hung up before I could get yelled at more.
I play with my hair tie and walk up to the 5 men towering over me.
They're so much taller up close…
"Liliana, this is Jun, Sehyoon, Byeongkwan and Donghun. Guys this is my phone thief, Liliana." He said smiling and retaining a laugh.
"Hey! Th- tha- that's not fair! It was completely an accident! Your head knocking into mine mixed up my brain cells!" I was appalled he introduced me like that! But I couldn't help laughing when he did. Breathe Lili.
"Anyway! I'm sorry to interrupt your guys practice. I'm just going to go wait outside. My friends are apparently on their way to get me." I say looking down and just trying to avoid eye contact.
"What why?" Someone pipes up. I don't look up though. I tried to think of a better reason then I ditched my friends.
"I, uh. Um… I kinda sorta dropped them off and told the driver to go before they could realize what was happening."
That got a laugh out of them. The one Ria liked, Byeongkwan, was laughing and clapping his hands. Anya's eye catcher, Donghun, was covering his mouth silently laughing. The other 2 I hadn't fully paid attention to in the coffee shop that day, Jun and Sehyoon, were holding their stomachs almost rolling on the floor. Overall, Yuchan was just grinning. He knew the plan, even though the outcome was different.
Donghun finally caught some air, "So you mean to say that you ditched your friends to come meet Chan?" He still had a half smirk on his face. He was teasing me!
But did I? I mean I was returning his phone. I guess I kind of did. Shoot me...
"Well, I-, just believe me when they get here you'll know why I did it that way." I said my face was unbelievably red now. I could feel it.
"Now look hyung, you're making her blush, leave her be. She did bring the phone back like Yuchan said." Jun said, smiling but serious. They all smiled and Sehyoon just shook his head.
He must be the quiet one. I knew someone like that too.
"Well, as much as you want to avoid the confrontation that was coming from that phone earlier, in front of us, you're not going outside alone at 11 o'clock at night." Yuchan said with a very serious look on his face.
I don't know whether to blush or be agitated that he's trying to tell me what I can and can't do.
"It may be 11 but I can handle myself. And you heard Anya on the phone, maybe Ria too. It's not something I'd like anyone to see." I said firmly.
"No." Yuchan said, crossing his arms.
"Yuch-" I started.
"Chan's right Liliana. You're not going out by yourself. You can sit and wait. Practice isn't over so you can watch us." Sehyoon said, shocking me into shutting up.
I just nodded.
"Thank you hyung." Yuchan said, nodding at him. Sehyoon nodded back.
"Okay on that note, let's finish practicing." Byeongkwan said as he got up off the floor.
Yuchan walked me over to a seat and told me I could sit there. I took my jacket off and sat down, then proceeded to cover up my legs with it.
"What is it?" I ask, shyly. He was standing there, kind of just staring at me. I looked down to make sure I didn't have anything on me. Nothing that I saw…
"Nothing. Nothing, you just look pretty in it, is all." He said and added, "Okay I've gotta get to work. Don't judge me too harshly." He smiled and went to get in the center of the studio.
So they're a dance group? They must be pretty good to be working here. I wonder what music they dance to. Just then the music starts and it sounds so amazing!
~Turn me up so they can hear this. Louder!~
I was intrigued. The way they began to move! So in sync. The way they moved was so mesmerizing, I couldn't look away.
The song ended and I'm not going to lie. I was sad.
I was speechless.
"I think we broke her." Byeongkwan laughed, looking over and seeing my astonished expression.
"What? No! I mean yes! That was amazing! I've never seen anything like that before." Okay, don't get over excited Lili.
Then I heard my friends…. Oh fudge.

Just Friends?
WORD COUNT : 1.7K
GENRE : Fluff
WARNING : none?
NOTE : if any of you have seen 2 broke girls, this is vaguely inspired from that one scene in season 1 with Johnny. i won’t spoil further.
Mirae had always thought she was lowkey blessed with everything around her. She had been bullied in kindergarten for being tiny - a sad eyed baby named Donghun protected her and stuck with her. And stuck with her till university, 15 years later. She went to dorms, he rented an apartment, and took in a housemate a month later who instantly clicked with him named Park Junhee and she spent her first year vehemently hating the dorms. She also got scarily well with Junhee to the point of finding Donghun sulking way too many times about Junhee stealing his best friend away (Mirae and Junhee were in the same literature department when Mirae was majoring and Junhee was minoring and both Junhee and Donghun’s major was music production).
One year later, as much as she would have loved to move in with her best friend, or the love of her life as she liked to call him, she could not. So she looked for housemates and found the perfect house in the building next to Donghun’s and now loves them to death. They were one year younger than her, freshmen who had moved to Seoul together, childhood friends and on the first meeting Mirae had decided she would fight whoever even dared to make them sad.
She knew moving without telling the older men was a bad idea but she knew they would overreact - which she was proven right with when she went over to their apartment and told them she moved out of the dorm. They were happy until they heard she moved in with not one but 2 male housemates and then they lost it.
After a lot of yelling, threats and are you crazy?’s , they finally calmed down enough to agree to meet her two housemates - Kang Yuchan and Kim Byeongkwan. With the strong belief that ended up proving right, Donghun and Junhee ended up liking the two freshmen so much that the strict front they had decided to keep in front of them dissolved in less than 5 minutes.
They all ended up being close friends who would weekly trash one of the houses in the name of movie and game nights and they even added the soft spoken shy neighbour of Donghun and Junhee - Kim Sehyoon.
It was at one of those night-ins at Mirae’s where Junhee was cooking and she was helping him when it happened.
Junhee was telling her a story - all with his exaggerated gestures which she was thoroughly enjoying when suddenly he pointed a celery near her face and asked, “so what is your opinion over this Miss. Mirae?”
Her brain short circuited - that was the only logical explanation she had for what happened next. With maintaining eye contact with Junhee as he waited for her to answer, she leaned down slowly and bit the celery as she saw his eyes widen and saw him gulp audibly. They kept on staring at each other as she slowly chewed the celery, Junhee opening his mouth finally to speak when chan loudly called them.
“Noona! Hyung! What's taking you so long?”
And with that the moment dissipated.
For the next three days, Mirae avoided Junhee as much as she could (because she was a coward) and only met him with someone else besides her. 3 days later she was summoned by Donghun to their apartment and she took a breath of relief when she went in and Donghun said Junhee was out.
They were drinking coffee on the couch when Donghun cleared his throat and turned to look at her.
“What happened between you and Junhee?” he asked and she choked on her coffee. After rubbing her back for a couple of seconds, he repeated his questions and she groaned.
“Mirae, Junhee has been sulking and whining to me about you avoiding him and I'm tired. So you are going to tell me what happened.” Donghun said as he stared her down with his arms crossed across his chest and she felt herself grow smaller in his gaze.
“Why don't you ask him?” she murmured and he sighed.
“All he does is turn red in his face, stammer and leave and i would like an actual response to my questions.”
At that even Mirae turned red and looked away and Donghun cursed.
“I'm not letting you leave if you don't tell me. And soon Junhee will be back so.” Donghun said with a smirk as he leaned back and saw a panicked expression fill out Mirae’s face.
A final look of resignation came over and Donghun knew he won.
“I fucked up.” she finally said and Donghun raised an eyebrow and she stared at him.
“I've known you for 15 years Mirae and I know how you exaggerate stuff. I'm gonna need a lot more than that to decide whether you actually fucked up or not.” Donghun said and Mirae rolled her eyes.
“We were cooking at Chan’s right? So we were talking and he brought this celery in front of me..” she said and Donghun nodded.
“You didn't bite it right?”
“I bit it!” Mirae said and Donghun laughed loudly while Mirae groaned.
“ i can't believe you actually did that!” Donghun exclaimed between his laughters and she hit him with a cushion as she got up and went to the kitchen mumbling.
“So what now?” Donghun asked as he followed her till there, still slightly laughing but stopping when she glared at him.
“I just keep wanting to kiss him and think of kissing him and I don't want to ruin our friendship and it's just very annoying okay?” she said and Donghun sighed.
Before he could speak anything though, they heard the main door unlocking and Junhee calling for Donghun while Mirae panicked in the kitchen.
“Quick, go hide in my room , I'll help you leave after he goes into his room.” Donghun said and Mirae ran to his room.
“Junhee-ya!” Donghun called the other to the kitchen who peeked in.
“Did you meet Mirae today?” he asked and Junhee pouted.
“No hyung. I don't think she even went to the class today.” he said with a pout and Donghun really wanted to hit these two.
Knowing from Junhee’s lack of alcohol tolerance and frequency in drinking, Donghun was very aware of the budding crush of his roommate on his best friend. And this was his chance.
“Junhee-ah can you pick a blanket from my room? Let’s watch a movie.” Donghun said and Junhee nodded, happily going to Donghun’s room.
As soon as Junhee entered the room, he heard someone ask, “Did Junhee go to his room?” and he looked up to come face to face with Mirae who looked equally confused to see him. They also heard the room door close and lock and they both looked at it, wide-eyed.
“TALK ABOUT STUFF!” they heard Donghun yelling from outside and both avoided each other’s eyes.
“Talk about what hyung!” Junhee yelled back and they heard Donghun groan from outside.
“MIRAE TALK ABOUT THE CELERY AND KISS THING, JUNHEE TALK ABOUT THE CRUSH THING!” They heard Donghun yell and they both flushed pretty quickly after hearing him.
A silence prevailed in the room for a short while until Junhee cleared his throat.
“About the celery thing.. It's okay there's nothing awkward between us so let’s just go back to how we were huh?” Junhee mumbled and Mirae would have agreed had she not heard Donghun yelling about the crush part to Junhee. From what she could figure out, there was a probability that Junhee had a crush on her and she almost wanted to laugh at themselves because they were totally meant to be. They were both cowards. And it was clear from how Junhee was trying to preserve the friendship - he had totally missed the kiss part. So she was going to take a chance.
“We are not gonna move on from the celery thing Junhee.” she said as she took a few steps towards him.
“I can't stop thinking about that time - what could have happened had Chan not interrupted? Huh Junhee?” she said as he gulped visibly.
“N-nothing.” he stuttered and she chuckled.
“We would have kissed Junhee. Tell me Junhee, would you hate the idea of kissing me?” she asked as she was inches away from his face, standing on her tip-toes and trying to get him to accept.
“No! Obviously not Mirae!” Junhee siad, instinctively his hands coming up on her waist as she smiled.
“Then what's stopping you?”
She reached forward to close to distance between them and felt his hands tighten on her waist as he deepened the kiss.
Standing in the middle of Donghun’s room with her hands in his hair and his on her waist, they kept kissing each other till they had to part for air. And when they did, they stood with their foreheads touching, breathing heavily and smiling stupidly.
“I’ve wanted to do that for so long.” Junhee mumbled against her cheeks as he leaned down to kiss her again gently.
“And you almost chose not to Park Junhee.” she said as she softly hit him on the chest and he laughed.
“Think Donghun will open the door now that we have sorted stuff?” he asked as he giggled and she shrugged.
“Lets try.” she said and they went to the door, ready to bang it till Donghun opened but they both stared at the door in disbelief as Junhee tried the doorknob and it opened.
“It wasn't locked?” she whispered and they both laughed even more as they left the room to stare at Donghun wearing his headphones and sitting on the couch.
He looked up at them as they came out of the room holding hands.
“You didn't lock the door?” Junhee said and Donghun smiled at them mischievously and said, “I was not going to force you to talk to something but I did want you to talk.”
Then he pointedly looked at their held together hands and smirked. “Guess it worked.” and they both looked away, smiling shyly.
“Some ground rules first.” Donghun said as he got up and stared the new couple down.
“No sex in this hosue. I have known her for 15 years and i DON'T want to know how she moans.”
By the time he ended his sentence, he was laughing loudly and the others were red in the face, screaming at him.

Chapter One - A Chance Encounter

Warnings: a little angsty-ish?
Masterlist
Prologue | Chapter One | Chapter Two
“Him in the middle of a muddy street, shoulder brushing against yours. Leather armor battered and coated in dried mud. A grey horse by his side. Both man and beast looking travel-worn and dirty. A steady hand and soft apology.”
Someone outside the door called out to him and he got up from his seat. He cursed under his breath, letting his eyes linger on you for a moment.
“I need to go now. Try to be careful. Take care of yourself,” he warned. He was out the door before you’d even had time to respond. You waited a few minutes and then exited the dressing room, hopefully unnoticed. You didn’t care what he said. Your presence in the room would definitely have some people asking questions.
“I’m sorry,” he said, his voice gentler than you’d expected. He removed his hand from your shoulder when he was sure that you were steady. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” you nodded. You looked up at him then. Even covered in mud, you couldn’t help but take notice of the sharp features. Everything about him was perfect. Like he’d been sculpted from marble. Your eyes met his deep brown ones. It felt almost like he could see into your soul. Like he knew every secret that you kept locked away. Like he knew you on some deeper level. A shiver ran through you.
“You’re sure you’re okay?” The deep voice again. You nodded quickly, unable to tear your gaze away from his. There was something off about this man. He was different than anyone that you’d ever met. You were intrigued.
The horse by him snorted and you broke the eye contact to look at it.
“Would you like an escort to wherever you’re going?” he asked, following your gaze to the horse. The man and the horse both looked thoroughly exhausted. They appeared to have been traveling for an indefinite amount of time. Running to or from something.
You also noted that the dirt on the horse, reached the saddle. You were already slightly muddy and getting on the horse wouldn’t help your situation at all. You wanted to keep your borrowed attire as clean as possible.
“No, thank you.” You offered a slight bow. He nodded.
“Once again, I apologize,” he offered the bow this time. You had started to walk again, but he called out to you. He nodded his head in the direction that you were headed. “Might I suggest that you proceed with caution? There’s a rebellion brewing and there’s some people there that might disapprove of someone like you in their midst.”
“Someone like me?” you scoffed at that comment. He raised his eyebrows and a smirk tugged at his lips.
“No offense, but you pretty much scream ‘royal’.”
You narrowed your eyes at him. You’d borrowed the clothes that you were wearing from your attendant in hopes of not drawing attention to yourself. He was adorned in battle-worn armor, and sword was at his side. You’d never seen any of the soldiers at the castle wearing or carrying anything similar.
“And you scream ‘mercenary,’ but you came out fine.”
You and the man stared at each other silently, sizing each other up in the middle of the street. He broke first, chuckling to himself. He sighed, turning his attention away from you momentarily.
“I apologize. You must have your own reasons for going there and I’m sure you know exactly what you’re doing.” He bowed and then continued to lead his horse down the street. You glared at his back. He paused again after a moment, glancing at you over his shoulder. “Just remember that if something happens to you, it will only worsen their situation. You will not help those people by being brash.”
With that bit of advice instilled, he turned away. This time he didn’t stop again.
You hesitated before deciding to continue your journey. The stranger had a point. If you were injured or killed, the king would reign fire upon them. You didn’t want that. You wanted to help them. You saw them, understood them, your father had been one of them.
But they needed you. You weren’t about to let cruel power hungry prince destroy their lives. Maybe they knew the same thing that the mercenary knew and wouldn’t dare let any harm come to you.
When you came to, your hand was pressed flat against the wall in front of you, like you’d been using it to hold yourself up. Your head was spinning. Your heart was racing as you glanced around to see if anyone was there. The hallway was empty.
This time the deja vu, or whatever it was, had been stronger. The memories had been so vivid, down to the tiniest details. It had felt like you were there. You’d felt his hand on your shoulder, not just seen it there. The emotions were so raw, you could still feel the determination to help the rebels. You empathized with them and you didn’t even know their cause. You’d never experienced anything like this before. It was almost terrifying.

under the same roof.
pairing: a.c.e x reader (platonic with hints of flirting) fandom: a.c.e warnings: language genre: fluff word count: 2.3k+
summary: your new neighbors were quite loud.. but it wasn’t until later that you found out why.
a/n: SO, as I’ve said this morning, this is going to be a little project of mine that will help both me and - hopefully - you guys. I want to write for underrated groups as well, but I unfortunately rarely get any requests for them and because I feel like the reason for that is because not a lot of people know about them, this is my solution. little, short stories that will hopefully get you kind of interested in the group. for starters, here is a.c.e, a group I’ve been listening to NON-STOP lately. the gifs are made from their most recent mv that you can find here, the entire group is filled with talent and if you have the time, please check them out and show them some love. I hope you enjoy this story and are looking forward to this project ♥ (ps: don’t worry, I won’t suddenly stop posting bts stuff or something like that lol, there will be another bts one - or about a single member of the group - tomorrow)
This apartment was everything you ever dreamed to have.
Sure, it wasn't necessarily the biggest with its 1.5 rooms plus bathroom, but it was enough for you and your needs.
And it wasn’t just the apartment itself, it was the area you were living that was definitely a lot better than where you had originally thought you'd end up with.
You had been looking for months, but all the apartments that were shown to you were in areas that you didn't feel comfortable in or the apartments were so run-down that you were afraid something would break upon touching it.
So you decided to invest a little more, but get something that you'd genuinely love coming back to at night.
And this was it.
If it.. weren't for the noisy neighbors that seemed to sing whenever they were at home.
The first day after getting your keys was fine, but maybe that was because after unpacking the first few boxes you had been so dead that you fell into your bed and fell asleep right away and didn’t hear anything else after that.
But on the second day you started hearing them. They were men.. more than one, probably even more than two, laughing, singing, screaming. And it was only then that you realized you maybe should have asked the landlord about the neighbors and about whether or not the walls were thin.
“If they're too loud you should just ask them to be quiet,” a friend of yours had come over after about a week of you staying in that apartment. She brought food and wine for you to celebrate your new place.
“I don't know, it could be worse I guess,” you shrugged, “I quite like their singing, actually..”
“Yeah,” she chuckled, “Imagine them having girls over.. that would be worse.”
You both started giggling at the thought of that.. and because maybe you've both had a little bit too much wine. But you didn't suddenly become deaf. The moment you heard them again, you were both immediately quiet, you pointing at the wall and looking at your friend with that: “I told you!” expression.
“You know what, this is the perfect opportunity,” she gulped down her last bit of wine in one go, then got up and pulled you to your feet as well, “You haven't introduced yourself yet, right?”
“Wh..- What? No, I don't want to! Not now!”
“Come on, don't be rude, you've living next to them for a week and you haven’t even said hello yet. You should at least know what the men look like that keep you up at night,” she laughed, probably thinking about something completely different as she just dragged you along despite your prostest.
She cleared her voice, then knocked on the door, making you think that she might want to talk to them as well..
..but nope.
The moment she pulled back her hand, she ran back into your apartment like a child, completely ignoring your: “No, don't!”.
You should have known that she’d pull a stunt like this. She was drunk and she thought this was funny and maybe she even wanted to give you a little push to talk to new men, but this wasn’t it, sis. You weren’t in a good condition to meet new neighbors, they’d think you’re super weird knocking at their door in the middle of the night, wearing sweatpants and an oversized sweatshirt.
“Open the door!” you hissed.
“I did,” a man chuckled.
Oh god, this was so humiliating.. even more so when you saw that, no, this wasn’t a guy in his late forties who gave up on life, but a very handsome young man that looked like he was in his prime.
"Uhm,” you started to fidget with your hands, “Hello.”
“Hi,” he laughed once again.
God. That's all you could think of. God.
But standing there like you were now, just staring at him, wasn’t a good idea either. You might as well introduce yourself.
“I'm.. (Y/N),” you cleared your voice, trying to be more confident as you slowly approached him, “I just moved into the apartment next to you. Well.. technically a week ago.”
“Ah, we thought someone new moved in.. I’m Jun.. nice to meet you, (Y/N).”
“Oh, we have a new neighbor?” another head peaked around the corner, smiling when he saw you, “It's nice to meet you! I’m Yuchan!”
“Nice.. to meet you too,” you smiled, “I’m (Y/N).”
And before you could say anything else, another man joined, but he just smiled at you and waved a little.
“So.. there’s three of you and I heard you sing quite a lot so.. are you guys a.. trio then?”
“There’s two more, actually, but they’re out having dinner right now.”
“Oh, wow.. so you’re an actual band, then?
They all hesitated. For a second you thought you had said something wrong, but then Jun started to smile and nod, but he didn't say anything else.
“Are we too loud?” Yuchan asked.
Should you lie? They were a band after all, so you could understand them singing.. and you liked it when they did.. but..-
“Well, it's fine throughout the day, but.. after midnight maybe..-”
“Sorry,” Jun immediately bowed, “We'll be more considerate from now on.”
“No, no, no, don't be formal with me, please,” you laughed and shook your head, “It's all good, really. I just thought I’d let you know.”
Before it could get awkward, your friend 'came to the rescue' – as she later called it – by opening the door again and saying: “What are you doing out there? The food's getting cold.”
And as you walked back inside your apartment, smiling at the three one last time, Donghun shoved his hands inside the pockets of his pants and grinned.
“So.. I’m going to say it first.. she’s super gorgeous.”
The other two boys just chuckled, shoving their fellow member back inside their own four walls.
That was the night you first met A.C.E.. without even knowing that they were A.C.E.
“Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry,” you quickly rushed to the table all your friends were already waiting at, “I overslept.”
“Yeah, we already heard about the handsome, noisy neighbors that are the cause of your messed up sleep schedule,” a friend of yours laughed, “We assumed they were the reason.”
“Or maybe one of them decided to personally introduce himself to you last night?” another one said, making all of them giggle.
You just shook your head, but with a smile, “I worked late last night and.. well, it is true, they were being pretty loud again, so it was kind of hard to fall asleep at first.. but I think one of them is a vocalist. He has.. such a beautiful voice. It lulled me to sleep in the end.”
“How many did you say there were again?”
“Five. I met all of them at this point.. very nice guys, actually. And from what I can hear, really talented. They should be stars in my opinion.”
She narrowed her eyes at you, “Did you ever consider that they might be an idol group? And that maybe.. they’re already part of the industry?”
For some reason, none of them, not even you, thought about that before.
Why?
Because making it in the kpop industry was fucking hard.
“Oh my god, you're living in one of the nicest areas in Seoul! She's right, they could be idols!”
And then they all suddenly started talking over the other, bombarding you with both questions, as well as theories of who they could be and all you could do was stare and.. get confused by it all.
Until you interrupted them.
“Guys,” you put up your hands, “I'm glad you're all so interested in my neighbors, but I don't know anything about them except for their names and that they like to order take-away at night. If they’re an idol group, I unfortunately don’t know who they are.”
For a moment they just looked at you.. and then they continued, completely ignoring what you just said.
You weren’t able to answer deeply personal questions, because, again, you barely knew the guys.
At one point your head just fell back against the wall behind you, closing your eyes as you let them talk and talk and talk..
What you thought would be a nice brunch date with your girlfriends ended up in them making conspiracy theories and you leaving early, alone, despite protests, because they all suddenly wanted to personally meet your new neighbors.
You were so ready for your bed, Netflix and not seeing or talking to anybody else today.
But of course that wasn't on the menu.
Of course you ran into the topic of today.
Or at least one of them.
“Oh, hey,” Byeongkwan entered the elevator one floor above the one you got on with a gym bag over his shoulder and a football under his arm.
“Oh.. you play?”
“Not as much as I'd like to,” he chuckled, “Don't have a lot of free time anymore.”
You were just about to reply when you got a message from one of your friends that you had met earlier. You were thinking about ignoring it at first, but then you saw a picture that made you look a little closer at the phone screen.
A picture that included the same man that was standing next to you right now, no doubt.
“Okay, I narrowed it down. There's only so many boy groups with only five members. Do you recognize any of them?”
“Holy shit,” your eyes widened.
Byeongkwan looked a little taken aback, you immediately apologizing, but then he just laughed.
“It's fine. Good news, I hope?”
Good news? Good news that you were – now confirmed – living next to an idol group? An active one? One that seemed to be doing kind of well, actually?
What kind of news even were that?
None that you were expecting, that's for sure.
Before Byeongkwan could peak, you quickly shoved your phone back into your pocket, bowed and then rushed out of the elevator and into your apartment with only a quick goodbye.
“Wasn’t that.. our neighbor?” Sehyoon furrowed his eyebrows, having just disposed of the trash, so he had seen you rush away from his band member without any context.
“She was fine a moment ago.. I don't know what happened,” the younger member shrugged.
“Maybe she imagined you naked and then realized it wasn't a nice thought,” Byeongkwan gently hit his members chest, both of them laughing as they walked back into their own apartment.
And while they were laughing, you were starting to panic, which you didn't want to because.. so what that you were living next to them? That shouldn't change anything, right? Why was that a big deal to you all of a sudden when you didn’t even know who they were five minutes ago?
Yeah, you could now say: 'I'm living next to idols', but that wouldn't be a good idea, or conversations like the one you had today with your girlfriends would be more frequent and you were not looking forward to that. Then people would start to get very nosy, would show up here not because of you, but because of them and you didn't want that.
This was their space, maybe the only place where they could feel normal, at home and fully safe.
No, you shouldn't do anything differently than before and you shouldn't feel any different towards them. You should treat them the same as before, should be as respectful as before and not let it show that you knew who they were..
They were people. Just like you.
But.. very talented people.
And you couldn’t help yourself but to turn on YouTube instead of Netflix tonight and look for their music.
And the moment the song started playing and you heard them sing, you smiled.. because you heard this before.. ever since you moved in, they’ve been singing this song.
They were working so hard, even in their free time, something that you could definitely confirm. But even if you weren’t living next to them and didn’t hear them practice all day long, it was clear from their dance videos and their performances.
They poured everything they had into their careers.
With a bit more digging, you found out that they maybe weren’t as big as some other artists or groups, but they still had a very loyal fanbase. And.. a really nice one from what you could see, that wasn’t always a given, unfortunately.
However, you never responded to your friend about what group it was. Whenever they’d ask, you’d answer that you didn’t know. Whenever they wanted to meet them, you said no.
Because there was no way you’d make them uncomfortable in any way, shape or form.
These boys were genuinely nice to you whenever you ran into them in the hallway, because you were nice and respectful towards them. These boys were practicing freely at home, because they knew nobody would record them and put it online. These boys were carefree here.. and you wouldn’t change that.
It was only a few months later that the topic of them being an idol group came up between you.
“Going to work?” you asked when you locked your door and saw all of them walking to the elevator.
“Yep. You too?”
“Yeah.. quite early, though, right?”
“We uh.. have a show tonight, actually,” Donghun was very careful with his words, but his members smiled encouragingly, “If you watch it.. cheer for us?”
And all you did was smile and reply: “Of course I will. You will do great.”

Come back to me/Kang Yuchan/Chan
Warnings: yandere!
Genre: angsty(?)
Requested: yes, from this prompt “Don’t worry, my love, I’ll protect you”
It’s true, you escaped him. At least you tried. You were walking down the street and feeling the freedom, the wind was slowly blowing and the stars were shining on the dark sky. Only now did you actually realize that you had no place to go. Chan would check your friend’s place first, that’s the most common place to search, and you also couldn’t go to any hotel because you had no money. ‘Dumb move’, you thought. You could’ve at least bring some money with you.
You sat on the bench, simply because you had no idea what to do or where to go, you thought that maybe you should take a break and clear your mind before making a decision. You were so concentrated on your plan to escape from Yuchan that you never thought of what you would do afterwards. It was getting colder with every minute and of course it started to rain, lucky day..
Suddenly you thought about what you would be doing if you were still next to Chan. Yes, he was extremely obsessive, but he was taking care of you. He holds you and kisses every inch of your body, he treats you like the most fragile and precious thing in the world…Because that’s how he sees you, as his small fragile baby... No. You should not miss such an obsessive psycho. But you do. Was this normal?
“Miss? Do you have a lighter?” You almost jumped when you heard the question, it startled you a lot. The question came from a drunk man standing right above you.
“No, I.. I don’t have one… I don’t smoke” the man didn’t like your answer, at all.
“Oh, come on! Then why would you be all alone at this hour? Search in your pockets, you must have one ” ,automatically you nodded and pretended like you were searching for something in your pockets and then you ran.
“Bitch!” The man was screaming and screaming something but you never turned around. You were running until you bumped into someone's chest .
“Don’t try anything, babe” he warned you before you could even think of anything “Don’t try to make me even angrier”
You could tell that he wasn’t actually angry. No. He was furious. He was about to yell at you, you knew it even though he didn’t say a word yet.
“I am sorry!” And with these words you hugged him, searching for comfort and warmth. “I should have never leave in the first place! Please forgive me! ” You were crying and shaking in his arms and Yuchan just couldn’t stay mad at you, he saw you so vulnerable and dependent on him, he loved this sight.
“You are freezing, let’s get in the car, okay? Shhh, it’s all right. Everything is alright, darling. I am not mad at you.”
Inside the car, during the ride home, you still didn’t let go of him. You were clinging to his side, trying to calm down.
“Please don’t ever let me go...”, you softly whispered.
“I won’t. How can I? You are the love of my life, whatever happens, I won’t let you leave me. Baby, don’t cry!'Don’t worry, my love, I’ll protect you’.” He was gently stroking your back admiring how vulnerable you were. At that moment he knew you were his and he had to protect you at any cost.

you’re my prince
[A.C.E JunChan oneshot]
[uwu btw i have this posted on my ao3 acc too!! click here for the link!! pls enjoy reading mwa a like or reblog is appreciated <33 enjoy my junchan oneshot]
Chan's POV
There were times when I loved the rain.
Ever since I was a kid the sound that lulled me to sleep was the soft pitter-patter of rain outside. And when I woke up, fresh morning dew would be on my Mom's flowers and the smell of the soil was wafting through my nostrils.
When I had my first date with the man I loved, when we just got out of the restaurant, it was pouring. We dressed elegantly since it was a fancy dining place he reserved. He grabbed my hand and pulled me to the center of the road, and my suit was ruined. But we didn't care. He was a romantic, and so was I. We spent the night dancing under the rain, without a care in the world and our eyes brimming with love.
But today, the rain felt a little less comforting, and a lot colder.
The sound of rain hitting the ground reminded me of how he would whip his belt and slash it against my back. The sound of thunder made me remember how he would grab the nearest chair and smash it to bits and pieces next to me. And the absence of people on this highway took me back to the time I screamed for help in the parking lot, and no one dared listen.
I ran away from that man, the one that offered me love and gave me pain instead.
I looked up, and closed my eyes.
The sky was crying with me. Offering me sympathy.
Somehow I smiled, and felt comfort in the compassion I felt in the cold, bitter rain.
I'm in a deserted highway, the kind you see in movies where the lead character probably gets his car broken down. Most times it's a desert, but nonetheless they find a way to get home. Not today, though. I ran away of my own accord. It's my fault I'm still here anyway. I was too weak to even try and walk to see any places I could spend the night in.
But if I haven't ran away, I would've been dead still. A walking corpse, a man no longer alive.
This was the only option I had.
I shivered, and held my yellow jacket closer to me, laying on the cold, wet ground. It was the only piece of clothing that was mine, he refused to let me buy any other garments without him. What I wore were his pants, and his sneakers as well. And I hated it. I hated it so much that even when he left, I still had pieces of him with me.
I stayed in that position for a while, and ended up sitting up since I was too cold. I closed my eyes, just to catch a few flitting moments of rest. I felt a light shining from the back of my eyelids, and squinted them open. What's going on?
My eyes struggled to see because of the pouring rain, but I caught a hazy figure of a red car. I rubbed my eyes and tried to flick away the rain on my face. The car to the driver's seat opened. A tall man with dark coffee hair walked out with a black umbrella, wearing a long, light brown cardigan that reached his knees. He had a white knit sweater and black trousers underneath. Maybe he's a model or something. He looks good.
The man crouched down beside me and held his umbrella above my head, the rain momentarily stopping. I looked up his eyes and it took my breath away, I almost fell forward.
They were beautiful.
They were the same shade as his hair. A deep, chocolate. Even under the dark gloom of the sky and the harsh roar of raindrops against pavement, they twinkled. Like a million stars were dancing inside. He looked at me with so much care and concern that I felt myself tearing up. Nobody's ever looked at me like that. He was the first.
This is stupid. This is the first time I've ever seen him, and I'm already like this? I must've gone crazy. Insane.
I'm not looking for love or self validation after what happened, right? I can't go that low. I look desperate. I don't breathe and exist on love.
I quickly got myself together, and let my brain sort things out. His hand reaches out to hold mine, his palm small yet warm in contrast with my big, shivering ones. He holds it tighter. "Are you okay?" He asks me. His worry was clear, and resonating throughout his deep, clear voice. Even his voice reminded me of the warm hugs of my mother.
Was I okay?
Maybe, maybe not.
Nevertheless, I still struggled to answer. My lack of response was worrying me, since maybe he'll leave me too. Surprisingly, I earned a soft look from him instead. He smiled warmly at me, his eyes making me feel like home. He helped me up on my feet, almost stumbling in the process. He held an umbrella in one hand and my arm in another, and guided me to his car.
I stepped back and shook my head fiercely, afraid to even look in his eyes. "What's wrong? Do you not want to go in?" Cautiously, he loosened his grip on my hand. He took a step and came to face me. I looked up, and said in a hushed voice, "but I'll get your car wet."
He smiles, "that car's importance can't compare to yours, you know. I'm letting you in, regardless if you'll get it wet or not." He held my hand and guided me to the passenger's seat. He let go for a split-second to open the door, and even in that small frame of time, I was missing his touch. I stepped in carefully, already grimacing at the amount of rain I was leaving on the leather seat.
I never thought today would go like this. Me being inside a stranger's car who actually cares about my well-being. It's crazy. I thought I would've just died of pneumonia out there.
Then I remembered the soft, caramel eyes that were staring into mine.
Maybe fate just has a way.
He closed the door and went around to the other side, sitting in the driver's seat and closing his umbrella, placing it beside him and closing his door then. The low hum of the engine comforted me, and I eased more onto the seat, despite worrying still about the wetness. I allowed myself to sleep for a while, a slow descent into a world of black.
I was running. For my dear life. My legs felt like giving way but my mind knew better than to stop. He was behind me. He was shouting my name. Not really my name but a slur of what I was used to hearing.
Slut, whore, bitch, dirtbag, fuckface, maniac. I heard them all leave his disgusting lips. Lips in which mine have once touched. I felt like ripping it off my face. I was so disgusted. How could I ever have fallen in love with such a horrid monster.
I’ve had enough. Of what were once loving hands that caressed my body, they now delivered harsh slaps to my face. The same hands that held my face so tenderly under the moonlight were grabbing candles and dripping them onto my bruised thighs. It hurt. But nothing hurt more than not being to leave.
I was crying now. I sped up running. I was small, and he could easily get me and take me back to the hellhole. But then I heard the footsteps fading. I turned around. He was leaving, he had his back turned to face me. He was walking calmly, as if he never meant to put up a fight to catch me. I scoffed, a mixture of hurt and relief. Hurt because he didn't even care about me enough to run after me, and relief that he finally left me.
It all seemed too easy, running away. I never thought that just by opening his car and running outside would be the way I would redeem my freedom. But I was glad. I walked a little slower now, feeling lightheaded and dizzy. My steps wonky and distorted. And I ended up falling on the ground. I sighed, maybe it was easier like this. Motionless. Finally I could get some rest.
Then there was a flash of light. Then a cracking, roaring sound. Thunder. Then came the rain.
Someone was shaking my shoulder, and I abruptly woke up. It was the guy. "Are you okay? You were crying in your sleep. Was it a nightmare?" I timidly nodded. He reminds me of a prince somehow. He not only looks like one, he acts like one too. "I parked near a convenience store, we should get down. I'll buy you something to warm you up. But first I'll let you clean yourself up." He smiled, then got out of the car, leaving me with time to fix my sobbing mess. I wiped away my tears and fixed my hair, still wet. He opened the door for me, and I stepped outside carefully. The rain was still heavy. We went inside the store.
I was met with the cold air of the air conditioning above, and I shivered. I wish I had brought a thicker jacket. I rubbed my hands together and blew some warm air, hoping to get some warmth from there. I felt something rest above my shoulders and saw his cardigan. He smiled the same wide smile, and let me sit down. "I'll just buy some coffee, okay? I'll be back."
I smiled back, feeling a rare comfort and happiness just a few moments away from the darkness I was in. I looked at my reflection in the glass. Brown hair, small face, clothes too big for such a small body, and bruises underneath those garments. I was a mess.
The reflection of a paper cup with steam appeared beside me. I looked to my right and saw him sitting down, a coffee cup of his own between his hands. I thanked him and held mine, grateful for the source of heat. I let the coffee's steam pass by my face for a few seconds before bringing it up to my face, taking a sip.
It was creamy. With a hint of sugar. I smiled since this was probably how he took his coffee too. Very much unlike the bitter black I was used to drinking.
The silence was comforting. The neon sign, the rain outside, the soft music coming from the store's speakers, and the sheer presence of him beside me, is enough to make me grateful and happy.
Not soon after, he broke the ice. He leaned his body towards mine, so did I. "So, what's your name? And would you care to explain to me why you were outside when the rain was pouring so heavily?" I smiled, finally able to take grasp of my facial emotions after being so stoic.
"My name's Chan. Kang Yuchan. And I ran away."
He looked surprised with my sudden confidence and outburst, but he was happy with how I was finally talking nonetheless. "Ran away? From home? Or is it something else?" I was about to reply when he suddenly said, "ah, I'm sorry. I forgot to tell you my name. I'm Park Junhee," and smiled with his teeth showing this time. He looked like a star. He was so beautiful. I was becoming more and more enthralled with him by the minute.
Stop it Yuchan. You can't be like this. You need to get a hold of yourself. You can't throw yourself onto anyone who shows care or affection for you. You'll get hurt again.
I was probably staring too long since he suddenly waved his hands in front of me, confused. "Channie? Are you alright?" My ears perked up at the nickname and my face flushed red, looking down in embarrassment. Channie. It was...nice. I'm not sure if I considered myself worthy of such a name but I liked the way it rolled off his tongue. Like a soft huff of air with the slightest of movements.
"Yeah, I'm okay, sorry. I just blanked out for a bit," ruffling my hair, I heaved out a sigh. It's a messed up story. And a long one at that. I wouldn't want to waste his time. "A-are you sure you'd want to hear it? It'll take up your time..." He smiled at me and held my hand again. The warmth was back. "The rain looks like it won't be stopping anytime soon, right? We have time. And even if we don't, I'll make time for you. I'm concerned."
I held his hand tighter, grasping my courage. I held in my breath for a few seconds, and let go. This stranger is about to know more about my life than anyone else, except him. I'm about to let him know everything now.
Except,
I'm not scared.
I feel like I'd want to tell him everything anyway too.
He makes me feel safe, like a home.
And just that thought makes me be brave.
So I did. I went on, and told him everything.
Doing so, I remembered it all. The pain, but it was okay. I'll be alright.
It was a Thursday when it all started. He just got home from college, and I didn't attend my classes since I was sick. After hearing the door click, I went downstairs, giddy to see Donghun again. He closed the door rather loudly and had a grim look on his face. Nonetheless, I tried my best to be happy and cheer him up.
"Hi Hunnie! Are you hungry? I made you dinner so you could study for your test tomorrow!" I beamed with a proud smile. He said he always loved my cooking. "Not hungry," he said with a grunt. I pouted. "But I made all this for you! Won't you atleast try some?"
"Just shut up! You never even did anything for me, why are you forcing this? You're just a fucking kid that's leeching on to me!" He screamed while throwing his plate on the floor, and grabbing another one and aiming for the empty space next to my feet.
Oh my God. Please, this can't be happening. Oh my God, oh my God. Please let this be a dream, please. I closed my eyes and bit on the inside of my cheek, scared of what's to come.
I opened my eyes for a bit and saw him going up the stairs, leaving me alone. I was motionless, confused, then I fell to a heap on the floor, sobbing, covering my mouth to soften my cries. My shaking hands grabbed the broken shards of porcelain, hiccups leaving my spit-covered mouth. The tears haven't stopped yet. I wished they would.
That night, I ate dinner alone. Me and Donghun lived together, and even slept together, but I slept on the sofa. When I woke up the next day, he already left. Without a note, text, or even touching the breakfast I left and woke up early for. It left a hole in my heart, thinking that maybe this whole relationship will end soon.
He wasn't the same Donghun I knew. His eyes were bleak, smile almost non-existent. What happened to the Donghun I knew that danced with me under the rain? What happened to the Donghun I knew that almost starved himself at school just to buy me a record player for my birthday? What happened to the Donghun I knew that went stargazing with me despite his fear of the dark?
What happened?
Maybe it was all a lie, the Donghun I knew. Maybe I was just fooling myself to see what I wanted to see. Maybe he's had enough of me. He calls me worthless anyway.
It went on like that for a few months. Donghun being aggressive, not even caring to apologize about it, and I still stayed despite it all. Why, you ask? I didn't know too. I used to say that it was because of love, but now maybe it was fear. Fear of angering Donghun more than I've already had.
When Donghun's anger got the best of him, it wasn't pretty. There were times when he dragged me at the mall, earning evident stares because of my hurt cries. He would take out his belt at home and whip me on the back for about 20 times a day, and even when I was shouting for help, no one batted an eye. The worst was when he slammed me against a concrete pillar in an underground parking lot. I barely made it alive, my head was bleeding. Luckily someone called for help. Bastard Donghun lied all the way and said he tried his best to help me when I fell.
At that point, I was numb. People started asking about the bruises, so I did my best in covering them up, mastering my fake smiles. Whenever Donghun had a death grip on my arm, I just smiled. Whenever Donghun threatened me at home, I just kept quiet. It's better to say nothing rather than barking back and getting thrice more pain that I already have.
A couple of weeks after, I was in his car, going home after going with a party of his. No music from the radio, just the slow, steady hum of the engine and tires on the road. Then I realized,
I could run away. Right now.
It’s a highway, deserted by the looks of it. I could run away and no one would be there to care. Yeah, I could. I could open the car door right now, despite Donghun being right next to me. I could.
I licked my lips, gulping nervously. My heart pounding so loud in my chest I could hear it. This is it. The moment I've been waiting for. All I need to do is just to reach the-
"Hey, can you grab me the charger I left in front of the dashboard?" Donghun says without as much as looking at me. I jolt, hands retreating back to my sides, nervous and finicky. "Y-yeah, of course." He looked over at me with confusion, with my sudden stutter and all. I flashed a weak smile and grabbed the wire and handed it to him, going back to my chair as fast as lightning.
He stopped the car for a bit to attach the wire to his phone, and my brain short-circuited for a while. This is it. You have to do it now, Yuchan. Now or never.
In a rushed daze, I forcefully pulled up the car lock, opened the door and ran outside, the fresh air almost suffocating. I ran, sprinted if you would call it. My legs felt like wires. I could hear his voice, laced with more anger than usual. Saying it's slurs. I could barely hear since the wind was harshly blowing against my ears. But I heard him say my name. And a few other disgusting titles.
Tears pricked my eyes, and they were now running down freely on my flushed face. I kept running. Then his footsteps were inaudible. I was confused, then turned around.
He was leaving me.
I wasn't even worth the fight.
Then, I fell to the ground. That's where I met him. My prince, Park Junhee.
When I got to the end of the story, his fists were balled, and it looked like he was about to blow up any minute soon. He placed his fingers on his temples, and heaved out a heavy sigh. "So, that jerk's name was Donghun, right?" He said the name with so much anger it actually made me rethink of what I said about him, but then again he deserved all the hate in the world.
I nodded furiously. That scumbag. I hope he gets what he deserves.
Junhee starts talking, angrily and without pause. "He's such an asshole. Honestly, you didn't deserve such a monster. You're so beautiful and kind and pure and I don't understand why he wanted to do that to you. Jerk. He's the worst scum of all. Channie, please promise me you will never let such a horrible man like that make you forget your worth, please? You're a star, so bright. You're important."
My face flushed at the sudden burst, and I looked down in surprise. After a few minutes of Junhee cooling down, he let out a soft sigh. He cupped my face with both hands, and I flushed like a beet. I'm internally panicking, since he could feel my cheeks and probably knew what I was feeling. He let out a soft chuckle at my state, and brushed his thumbs against my cheeks. Shit, I'm blushing harder now.
Maybe it won't be so bad loving Park Junhee.
"Channie."
"Y-yeah, Junhee?"
"Run away with me."
I felt all the air leave my chest. It was knocked out, just by those four words. I can't speak, my eyes and mouth are wide open. Why, why, why, why, why. Why all of a sudden, Junhee. Giving me such an option. I want to run away with you. I do. I really do. But I'll be a burden, a rock, I'm just a child, a piece of trash that shouldn't even be taken care o-
"Hello? Channie? Are you still listening?" Junhee's hands were no longer on my cheeks and were now waving in front of my face.
"H-huh?"
"I asked if you had a fever, since you were warm earlier. You've been blanking out a lot lately too. I can buy some medicine for you."
Oh. Of course.
It was just my stupid brain, ha.
I just met him today, why would I even think he'd take an interest in me...I'm dumb. Very dumb. Dumbest. God damn Kang Yuchan.
I shook my head. "No, it's okay. I'm feeling fine, there's no need." I tried my hardest to smile. It hurts that out of all the people I had to fake my smile with, it was him.
Junhee gave me a smile, the kind that makes your insides churn. I loved that smile. I really did. I don't know why but I think I'm really in love with him.
I'm in love with a man named Park Junhee.
Yeah, that's it.
I love the way his eyes crinkle when he smiles. I love the way his smile looks like that of a cat, wide and beautiful. I loved his sparkling eyes. I love the way one eye seems to be a little bit smaller when he smiles brightly. I love the sound of his voice. I love how it rumbles and comes deep from within his body, but still carrying a softness that embodies his persona. I love it all. I love it so so much.
But maybe, I didn't.
Maybe I was just seeking for love from someone else. Maybe...I just wanted Junhee to love me back. Maybe I just wanted to make a home out of him. To feel safe.
But I didn't want to believe that. I'm sure I'm not that bad of a person. Right? Junhee said that I'm important to him. Yeah. He's important to me too.
"Do you have a place to stay? You said you lived together, so I don't think you have any other place to go. We can go to your parents if you want." Junhee asked me all of a sudden. My eyes went wide, and I shook my head. They haven't seen me in years, I think they'd have a heart attack if they ever saw me like this. Plus, they're in Jeju anyway.
Junhee huffed, "looks like you'll have to stay with me then." He flashed me a grin.
Is this real?
Am I still imagining this?
"R-really? You'll let me?" My voice tiny and hushed like a child, still scared that my imagination may get the best of me again.
Junhee laughed, a loud one. "Of course, I'm not letting you fall into the wrong hands again. From now on, I'll take care of you, Kang Yuchan."
I smiled, a real one. All teeth. Mom said I looked like a star when I did. I felt like exploding.
"Junnie.."
His ears perked up at the nickname, but it didn't look like he hated it, so I guessed it was okay. He had this big goofy grin. I hope he feels the same way I do about him, seeing him like this.
"Yes?"
"You remind me of a prince. You know, for saving me at such a time, and accepting me."
He smiled so brightly my legs felt weak. "Can I be your prince, Yuchan?" He held my hand and kissed the back of it and held my palm to his cheek.
Fuck, my heart is about to burst. I love him. I love him so much. Truly. I don't doubt that now. I don't care if I'm hallucinating his feelings for me. I love him more than anyone and anything else in this world. In my eyes, there's only him. He's my everything. I want to cuddle with him at night, hold hands, and let him know that I will love him til my last seconds, and even after that. I want to grow old with him. I want to spend the rest of my life, forever, with him.
Only him.
I let out a smile from the bottom of my heart. So wide, and my eyes overflowing with love I felt like they were tearing up. My eyes conveyed all the warmth I felt in my heart.
"You're my prince, Junhee."
