the popularization of fanfiction in mainstream is so interesting to me because so often, I see people absolutely hating AUs or not “getting” why they exist.
Come to find out, they’ve never read a FF before and immediately started with the most hardcore AU within that fandom. Like bestie, that’s something you work up to 😭

hi😊 what do you think was Petunia's reaction when Harry told her year after year about Voldemort's return? especially after the 4th and 6th years. Petunia is a very interesting and for me disgusting character
I think we are told her reaction:
“Lord — hang on,” said Uncle Vernon, his face screwed up, a look of dawning comprehension in his piggy eyes. “I’ve heard that name . . . that was the one who . . .” “Murdered my parents, yes,” Harry said. “But he’s gone,” said Uncle Vernon impatiently, without the slightest sign that the murder of Harry’s parents might be a painful topic to anybody. “That giant bloke said so. He’s gone.” “He’s back,” said Harry heavily. It felt very strange to be standing here in Aunt Petunia’s surgically clean kitchen, beside the top-of-the-range fridge and the wide-screen television, and talking calmly of Lord Voldemort to Uncle Vernon. [...] “Back?” whispered Aunt Petunia. She was looking at Harry as she had never looked at him before. And all of a sudden, for the very first time in his life, Harry fully appreciated that Aunt Petunia was his mother’s sister. He could not have said why this hit him so very powerfully at this moment. All he knew was that he was not the only person in the room who had an inkling of what Lord Voldemort being back might mean. Aunt Petunia had never in her life looked at him like that before. Her large, pale eyes (so unlike her sister’s) were not narrowed in dislike or anger: They were wide and fearful. The furious pretense that Aunt Petunia had maintained all Harry’s life — that there was no magic and no world other than the world she inhabited with Uncle Vernon — seemed to have fallen away. “Yes,” Harry said, talking directly to Aunt Petunia now. “He came back a month ago. I saw him.”
(OotP, 38-39)
She is terrified, so terrified that she is willing to acknowledge magic and even feels some worry towards Harry, for what Voldemort returning would mean to him — because she knows how her sister died.
Like, I think for all of Petunia's talk, she still loved Lily, and felt protective over her as older sisters usually do. I think, initially, a lot of her hate for magic came from jealousy, yes, that Lily was the first witch in their family and how proud their parents were. But I think, she also hated her sister left her for that world of magic. A world of magic she tried to join (she sent Dumbledore a letter) but couldn't. I think a lot of her bitterness is from that.
The world of magic stole her sister from her. Then, a wizard, James Potter, stole her away again. And then, finally, a wizard (Voldemort) killed her sister. In her eyes, magic only ever distanced and eventually took away someone she used to love as a child.
So she's bitter and terrified of magic.
And, we see that she, well, I wouldn't say she's even kind to Harry, but she's less forceful after this point. She's terrified of Voldemort being back. She's scared for her family (Vernon and Dudley). Dudley was just attacked by dementors and she knows things like that would become more and more common now that Voldemort returns.
I think, from the passage above, deep down, she is concerned for Harry. I wouldn't say she loves him or cares about him like family, (because she doesn't. Not really at least. Her feelings about Harry are weird), but I think she has a vague sense of concern. Like, a more distant care. Like if you hear someone you went to high school with just died in some horrific accident. Like, you weren't close to that person, and you haven't seen them for years, you don't really care and their being dead won't really affect your life in any way, but there is a certain emptiness that comes with knowing a person you saw every day for years, someone you knew in some way, died horrifically.
Because it makes you feel something, but it's not the same fear you'd feel for close family you care for.

The war was here and Voldemort was attacking Hogwarts along with the Death Eaters. I was running around the school trying to keep first years safe, while also running from Death Eaters. I was running down a hall, looking for more people to help. I was looking behind me to make sure there were no Death Eaters around me. That’s when I bumped into someone and feel to the ground. I held my wand up and looked up.
“Y/N?” I sighed in relife.
“Draco! Thank Merlin it’s you!” I said and he helped me up.
“Are you alright?” He asked, checking me over.
“I’m fine, are you alright?” I asked and he sighed.
“Fine…” He said, it was clear he wasn’t telling me the whole truth. I knew he hated that he was on the wrong side of this war, but it was for his family.
“What are you doing running around the school? You should go hide and be safe.” He said with worried eyes.
“I’m helping people, Dray, the first years are so scared and I’m trying to keep them safe.” I answered.
“I wish you didn’t have that big heart of yours right now.” He said and I smiled.
“I know, love, but someone needs to help them.” I said. Suddenly an ear piercing noise invaded my ears and I grabbed my head. Draco grabbed on to me, but it was clear he was also in pain from whatever this was.
“You’ve fought valiantly, but in vain…” Voldemort’s voice whispered.
“I do not wish this. Every drop of magical blood spilled is a terrible waste. I, therefore command my forces to retreat… In their absence, dispose of your dead with dignity.” He whispered.
“Harry Potter, I now speak directly to you. On this night, you have allowed your friends to die for you, rather then face me yourself. There is no greater dishonor. Join me in the Forbidden Forrest and confront your fate. If you do not do this, I shall kill every last man, woman, and child who tries to conceal you from me.” He whispered and then it was silent. I fell to the ground, pulling Draco with me. He held me tightly and kissed the side of my head.
“We’re alright now, love.” He whispered and helped me up.
“I should go find Harry.” I whispered and his grip on me tightened.
“Absolutly not. I’m not going to let you die for him.” He said with tears in his eyes.
“Draco…” I whispered and held his face in my hand.
“Please… I need you…” He whispered. I sighed and nodded.
“I’ll stay with you, my love.” I whispered and he pulled me into a tight hug.
Draco and I were walking through the school to find somewhere safe. That’s when we heard a bunch of people walking outside. I furrowed my brow and pulled Draco with me to follow them. When we got outside we saw Voldemort walking up with Hagrid, who was being held by ropes, and an army of Death Eaters. Hagrid was holding someone and I squeezed Draco’s hand tightly.
“Who’s that? Hagrid’s Carrying? Neville, who is it?” Ginny asked as her and her Father walked up next to Neville.
“Harry Potter… is dead!” Voldemort shouted.
“No!” Ginny screamed with such heart break.
“No!” She screamed again and tried to run foward, but her Father stopped her.
“Silence!” Voldemort shouted.
“Stupid girl! Harry Potter is dead!” He said again.
“From this day forth, you’ll put your faith in me.” He said and turned to face his followers.
“Harry Potter is dead!” He shouted again. His followers laughed along with him.
“And now is the time to declare yourself. Come forward and join us… or die!” He shouted. No one moved or said a word.
“Draco!” Lucius hissed. People turned and looked our way.
“Draco.” He whispered and motioned with his hand to come forward. Draco still made no move.
“Draco. Come.” His Mother said in a calm tone. Draco sighed and looked around.
“Come with me.” He whispered, but I shook my head.
“I can’t…” I whisperd and let go of his hand. He looked at me sadly and I took a step back.
“Go…” I whispered.
‘I love you.’ I mouthed to him. He smiled at me slightly, but turned to walk to his parents.
“Ah! Well done, Draco.” Voldemort said to him and gave him an awkward hug.
“Well done.” He said again and I glared at him. I watched his Mother take hold of him and pull him back a bit. My eyes never left Draco, he didn’t want to be there… I heard Neville start to give a speech, but all I could focus on was Draco.
“Confringo!” I looked over and Harry had shot a spell at the snake next to Voldemort. Harry was alive! He ran away and Voldemort shot spells at him. Some of Voldemorts followers were leaving him and I watched as Draco was pulled away by his Mother. As long as he was safe…
“Y/N! Come on!” Hermione shouted. I ran over to them and Harry said something about needing to kill the snake. A Death Eater flew at us and I quickly hit them with a spell. I ran off away from my friends and realized I was alone. I was looking around, keeping an eye out for anyone. I heard a noise behind me and I turned to look, but was too slow and was flung to the ground. I groaned and watched the man that hit me smirk. He shot at the ceiling at it crumbled down. I just barly moved out of the way, but was still sliced in my stomach by a very sharp rock.
“Y/N!” I looked up and saw Draco. He shot a spell at the Death Eater, but they blocked it. His parents ran up behind him and shot a spell at the Death Eater before he could send one back at Draco. Draco ran up to me and helped me up.
“Are you alright?” He asked and I covered my stomach.
“I’m fin, love. What are you doing here? You guys should go somewhere safe.” I said and he shook his head.
“I wasn’t just going to leave you.” He whispered and kissed me.
“So this is the girl you’re willing to risk your life for.” His Mother said as she walked up to us with her husband.
“Mother, Father, this is Y/N. Y/N, theses are my parents.” He introduced us.
“Watch out!” I shouted and pushed Draco out of the way. His Father pushed me behind him and blocked the spell that was shot at us. His Mother shot one back and Draco grabbed my hand.
“Perhaps we can get to know her later when it’s safe.” Lucius said. His Mother pulled us along and we all fought through the Death Eaters.
We were sitting in the Great Hall, Voldemort was finally dead. Harry ended the war and the air just felt different. People were smiling, talking, some even laughing. The Malfoy’s looked very uncomfortable being around the people that they had just fought against, but no one really cared. I had completely forgotten about my stomach wound. Draco wrapped his arms around me and smiled.
“Everything is fine.” I said with a smile.
“You’re right, love.” He said and kissed me. When we pulled apart I felt a bit light headed, but didn’t think anything of it. I blinked a few times and Draco looked at me worried.
“Y/N?” He asked, but he sounded like he was far off.
“Love? Are you-” I blacked out and fell into Draco’s lap. That was the last thing that I heard.
*Draco’s POV*
“Y/N? I asked, but she didn’t respond. She swayed a bit and I was growing more worried.
“Love? Are you Al-” I cut myself off as she fell into my lap.
“Y/N? Y/N!” I said and gently shook her. I looked up and my Mother had worry written all over her face.
“What happened?” She asked.
“I-I don’t know!” I said, beginning to panic.
“Calm down, Draco.” She said and placed a gentle hand on my leg.
“Draco? Is everything alright?” Luna asked and I shook my head.
“Y/N passed out, she needs help.” I said and Luna smiled.
“I’ll go get Madam Pomfrey.” She said and hurried off. She returned not too long with Madam Pomfrey.
“Lie her down here, let me look her over.” She said. I laid her on the bench in front of us and I saw blood on her shirt. Madam Pomfrey noticed as well and lifted the shirt up. She had a huge cut along her stomach.
“Do you know how long she’s had this?” She asked and I shook my head.
“I-I didn’t even know she had that…” I admitted. She nodded and quickly got to mending her wound.
“She’ll be alright, but it might take her a bit to wake up.” She said and I nodded.
“Thank you…” I said and she smiled at me.
“Of course, Mr. Malfoy.” She said and walked off to probably help someone else. Luna sat next to Y/N’s head and smiled down at her.
“She’ll be alright, Draco.” She said and I nodded.
“Luna!” Someone called and she smiled at me. I gave her a small one back and she walked off.
“She’ll be alright, son.” Father said. I nodded and kept my eyes on Y/N.
“Are her parents around?” Mother asked. I looked around the room and shook my head.
“I don’t see them…” I answered.
“Perhaps I’ll go ask someone.” She said and got up.
Just a few moments later my Mother returned with Mrs. Weasley following her. Mother took a seat next to me and Mrs. Weasley smiled sadly at Y/N.
“Y/N’s parents are dead…” Mother said and I stared at her shocked.
“W-What?” I asked.
“I’m afraid they died while fighting some Death Eaters…” Mrs. Weasley said.
“B-But they can’t be… What about Y/N?” I asked and she gave me a small smile.
“Professor McGonagal will likely find a home for her, or we can take her in if she’d like. We don’t have a lot of room, but Y/N is like family.” She answered.
“Or she can come and live with us if she pleases.” Mother said and I looked at her shocked.
“Really?” I asked and she nodded.
“It’s clear you care for each other if you’re both willing to die for one another. I see no reason why she can’t come and live with us.” She answered and Father nodded in agreement. Mrs. Weasley looked at us shocked.
“Well then, I believe I know what Y/N will pick. Just take care of her, would you?” She asked and My Mother nodded.
“We will.” She said. Mrs. Weasley nodded and went back to her family. I heard someone groan and shot my head down to Y/N. She slowly started sitting up and rubbed her head.
“What happened?” She asked and I gently hugged her.
“You’re stomach was cut open, why didn’t you tell me?” I asked and she glanced down at her stomach.
“Oh right. I suppose I just forgot.” She said and I stared at her like she was mad.
“You just forgot?” I asked and she nodded.
“I got it when that Death Eater tired to collaspe the ceiling on me. One of the stones slashed my stomach, but I figured it wasn’t that bad.” She said and I shook my head.
“You should have told me then and there!” I asked and she gave me a sheepish smile.
“Sorry, love. It was kind of tense and I didn’t need you worrying anymore than I knew you already were.” She said and I sighed.
“I’ll always worry about you.” I said and she nodded.
“I know.” She said and pecked my lips. My Father cleared his throat and we looked over at them.
“Y/N, dear, there’s something you should know.” Mother said and Y/N tilted her head curiously.
“It’s about your parents…” She trailed off and Y/N sighed.
“They’re dead, I know.” She said and we stared at her shocked.
“How do you…”
“I saw them while I was trying to protect first years.” She said and I grabbed her hand.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked.
“Again, it was really tense and we were kind of in the middle of a war.” She said and I sighed.
“Have you grieved?” I asked and she shook her head.
“I didn’t have time…” She admitted.
“You have time now, love.” I said and gently pulled her into my lap. I held her to him and felt her grip me tightly.
“I-I don’t know what to do…” She whispered.
“Cry, if you’d like.” I said and she shrugged.
“I suppose I’m just sort of numb to it right now…” She said and I nodded.
“That’s alright. I’ll be here for you whenever you need me.” I said and she smiled slightly.
“There’s also another thing.” Mother said and Y/N looked over at her.
“If you’d like, you may come and live with us at the Manor.” She said and Y/N smiled.
“I would love nothing more. Thank you, Mrs. Malfoy.” She said.
“Narcissa, please.” Mother said.
“Narcissa. Thank you.” Y/N said and snuggled into me. Today had taken a lot from everyone, but as long as I had my Y/N, everything would be fine.

What I think about certain characters:
Snape;
People have many different opinions on Snape- some think he's a stalker, a creep and that he's terrible- and some think that he's the bravest man ever, and that Lily should have married him instead.
Both are right. Because it all depends on how you see it- I mean, Snape did seem pretty obsessed with Lily. He was in love with her. And Snape-haters can deny it all they want- but he was brave. Brave because he was a second agent, he managed to stay loyal to Dumbledore, while still staying on Voldemort's good side. But he was a terrible teacher.
Yep, I've admitted it, finally- Snape was a terrible teacher. Snape-haters say he was, and they're right, because he was. And don't even try to deny it, because he was completely unfair. He was nice to the Slytherins, but terrible to every other house, and especially the Gryffindors.
Snape looked coldly at Hermione, then said, ‘I see no difference.’ (When Hermione's teeth were hit with the Densaugeo hex, Goblet Of Fire.)
‘I don’t remember asking you to show off, Miss Granger,’ said Snape coldly, and Hermione went as pink as Neville. ‘Longbottom, at the end of this lesson we will feed a few drops of this potion to your toad and see what happens. Perhaps that will encourage you to do it properly.’ (When Snape was threatening to poison Trevor, Neville's toad, Prisoner of Azkaban)
And I could show more examples, but I'm lazy.
Snape was a terrible teacher, he was unfair and played favorites, and he was often just cruel. Tell me, would you want a teacher like Snape teaching your child?
Being brave doesn't excuse what he did towards his students. He definitely traumatized some of them, because who would forget such a teacher? I wouldn't. And do you remember how Neville's boggart was Snape-? Let that sink in.
A boggart represents (turns into) one's greatest fear. Like how Ron's was an acromantula, and how Harry's was a dementor. But Neville's was Snape- that's his teacher, no they don't have to have a student/mentor relationship people love, but if you're a teacher and one of your student's worst fear is you, then you need to revaluate your teaching abilities.
So in short; I don't really know how I feel about this character.
Petunia;
Now, are we going to deny that Petunia is a good mother? Because she is, not to Harry of course, but she is to Dudley. She's kind of a good example of gentle parenting, the no-discipline kind of parenting. I mean, Dudley has probably never been grounded before. With her hugs and kisses, and cringy but affectionate pet-names in every sentence, it's made clear that she loves Dudley. Even though Dudley is pretty hard to love.
But is she a good aunt? Oh absolutely not. She has never been a good aunt, clearly doesn't know how to do it. She was terrible to Harry, downright terrible. In fact, all the Dursleys were. They were abusive, and I don't want to hear any comments saying the opposite, though I doubt I'll get any.
Let's just get this clear- in the Philosophers' Stone, Harry wasn't just small, he was malnourished. Because growing up, he barely got any food. The Dursleys starved him. That includes Petunia, she overfed Dudley, but barely gave Harry any food. And what's the difference between Dudley and Harry? One is her son, one isn't.
Sure, she loved Lily, but what does that excuse? Does that excuse her abusing Lily's kid? I mean sure, she likely saw that it just came out of nowhere- like ’Oh, your sister's dead, here's her baby.’- but that doesn't excuse anything. She didn't have to treat Harry like that, just because she missed Lily so much.
And what was her whole thing with hating wizards? I mean, it was understandable in the Goblet of Fire, when the Weasleys tried to floo to their house. I'd be pretty mad too, if someone practically blew up my living room. Yeah, after and before that it was just unreasonable. But in the Goblet of Fire, I've got to admit, it's reasonable to react like that.
It was understandable when she was kid, but it stopped being understandable the second she became an adult. When she was a kid, she was jealous and therefore pushed everything that reminded her of it away, and that's understandable because kids do stuff like that. But when you're an adult? It's just childish. And that doesn't mean she should abuse her nephew.
And is it just me, or do Mrs and Mr Evans kind of seem like bad parents? Oh my god, is this anti Mr and Mrs Evans? Well, that's a tag I doubt exists. But seriously, they never noticed the feud between Petunia and Lily? Because they were so proud of having a witch in the family? They could have noticed, I doubt either Petunia and Lily made their feud secret. And clearly them being so proud of Lily, made Petunia feel inferior because she was just a muggle.
And what is it with the theory that the Dursleys were so mean because they were around Harry, who was a Horcrux? That's dumb, if you think about it. Firstly, it excuses the Dursleys terrible treatment of Harry, so just victim-blaming, basically. ’Oh, it's Harry's fault he was abused, because he was a Horcrux and that affected the Dursleys.’ And secondly, Ron and Hermione were around Harry even more than the Dursleys one could argue, and they never got in a bad mood from that, did they? No. So many other people were around Harry more than the Dursleys were, and they were never in a bad mood.
So in short; I hate her character.
Dumbledore;
So I know I might possibly get cancelled for this, but I actually like Dumbledore.
Yes, yes- I know- terrible as most people nowadays are anti Dumbledore, but I'm not. Not really, anyways. Sure, some of his actions were questionable, but he's not a manipulative villain that didn't care about anybody. He genuinely cared about Hagrid, and Grindelwald, and Harry.
Harry and Dumbledore's relationship wasn't really that toxic, as people like to say, it was just kind of cute. Because Harry loved Dumbledore, and Dumbledore loved Harry. People say that in the books Dumbledore ’raised Harry like a pig for slaughter’, but nobody thinks about that Harry was practically made to be a pig for slaughter because of the prophecy.
And Dumbledore didn't want to, he delayed telling Harry about the prophecy because he cared about him. He reckoned 11 was too young, which I'd say it was, and 12 is barely different. Too young. And wouldn't you say it was kind of Dumbledore to keep this from Harry, so it wouldn't weigh on the boy’s mind?
Now the thing I hear Dumbledore being called the most is manipulative. Basically, he knows how to get his way, which is a good thing. And he is a powerful wizard, and important, shouldn't he know how to do that?
’Played everyone like a chess pawn’, well it was war, so who could really blame him? You have to do things you don't want to do sometimes in war. Sometimes you have to do everything to make sure the war ends, which sometimes means people have to be used a little bit. War is not an ideal situation to be in, and it's not a good situation to follow all of your morals.
Something I've always appreciated about Dumbledore is that he's so odd it's funny. He likes candy, so much he decides the passwords to his office after them, and always says such things so calmly. But you can't underestimate him because of that, as he's also very powerful.
He's a great wizard, and Hogwarts was only attacked after Dumbledore died (and conveniently, Dumbledore didn't have his wand on him then.)
Now another thing I hear people both talk bad about AND joke about it; about how much Dumbledore gives points to Gryffindor, how he wants them to win. Which I do disagree with. Because tell me: if your students prevented a powerful terrorist from coming back, would you, or would you not, give them points?
Ron got given points for doing a smart move, and winning a chess match against one of the professors (who I'm pretty sure is canonically really good at chess?) Because chess is a hard game I couldn't understand to save my life, and to be really good at it, you have to be smart. Ron got given points for his intelligence (and excellent chess skills), something they do give points for. ’… for the best-played game of chess Hogwarts has seen in many years, I award Gryffindor house fifty points.’
Hermione basically got given points because she made a smart move, she was smart. Which do they give points for regularly. ‘Second – to Miss Hermione Granger … for the use of cool logic in the face of fire, I award Gryffindor house fifty points.’ She was in a stressful situation, yet used great logic. She did good, basically, and it's understandable for Dumbledore to give points to that.
Harry was the one who actually prevented the return of the most feared wizard/powerful terrorist, Voldemort, in this case. He also stood tall, in front of said terrorist. At 11. And I don't know about you, but I would give points for that. ‘Third – to Mr Harry Potter …’ said Dumbledore. The room went deadly quiet. ‘… for pure nerve and outstanding courage, I award Gryffindor house sixty points.’ For being a true Gryffindor, basically. And that sounds like something the professors would give points for.
‘There are all kinds of courage,’ said Dumbledore, smiling. ‘It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends. I therefore award ten points to Mr Neville Longbottom.’ He was brave, that's why he got points. He proved he was a Gryffindor at heart, and probably somewhat earned the respect of Dumbledore.
Recent events do matter, and should be taken into account, as Dumbledore said.
And in the Chamber of Secrets, I'm pretty sure they won the house cup again, and I've got only one thing to say; are you saying you wouldn't give points to students for saving someone's life?
I won't go into it more, because I know I'll probably get something about in the comments- if I get any, of course- and I'll definitely defend my opinion. Because in short; I like Albus Dumbledore's character.
Ron;
So, stating this will not give me hate like my opinion on Dumbledore will, but; I frickin love Ron Weasley.
Now some who have only watched the movie might say stuff like: ’Why? He was a terrible friend to Harry’ or ’All he did was eat though’. Or they might not, and I just need to stop saying ’say stuff like:’
Maybe people have finally stopped hating on Ron, and I'm just stuck in the past of Anti-Ron, but I'm still going to defend him here. Starting by debunking my first example of what someone might say.
’Why? He was a terrible friend to Harry’ Sorry, are you saying Ron stood-in-front-of-a-believed-murder-on-a-broken-leg-for-his-best-friend Weasley is a bad friend? In the movies it may have been Hermione who did that but I call bullshit. Because this is what happened in the book;
’No, Harry!’ Hermione gasped in a petrified whisper; Ron, however, spoke to Black.
‘If you want to kill Harry, you’ll have to kill us, too!’ he said fiercely, though the effort of standing up had drained him of still more colour, and he swayed slightly as he spoke. (When the trio were in the Whomping Willow with Sirius, Prisoner of Azkaban.)
And then debunking my second example; ’All he did was eat though’ which is also kind of people saying Ron loved food. WHICH he did not, or at least I don't recall him loving food that much in the books. Specifically him loving chicken, which people think he loved so much there's a ship called ’Chickron’ (Ron x Chicken.)
I can't mention instances in the book because that's just that: there aren't any. Ron ate at breakfast, lunch and dinner and that's just that. Did he eat a lot then? Maybe?? oMg HoW dArE hE eAt A lOt, NoBoDy ElSe DiD (cough cough Harry cough cough) Yeah, Harry ate a lot too but I don't see anybody calling him a ’foodie’ or ’food-lover’ or whatever they call Ron.
And for people to say he doesn't deserve Hermione: he begged to be tortured in her place, and if that isn't love, then nothing is. Was he a douche sometimes? Yeah. Was he also, conveniently, a teenager then? Yeah. People are douches sometimes, when they're teenagers, and can't always treat someone right. They bickered, they disagreed. Which only really proved that Ron listened to her, and then gave his opinion. Nobody else did that, and especially not Harry. He's what Hermione needs; somebody to kind of put her in her place yet support her and comfort her when she's upset. Ron is right for Hermione, and trust me; she thinks so too.
Something else people often bring up was the situation in PoA, or the Crookshanks/Scabbers situation? I don't know what people call it but time to put my opinion out there; I think Ron was in the right. Tell me, if one of your best friends’ pet ate your pet (or at least, allegedly with very believable proof) and then refused to apologize or even acknowledge it, would you get mad? Just because Scabbers turned out being Peter Pettigrew (which I'll probably talk more about another time) does not mean Hermione was in the right. Did Ron act kind of shitty about it? Yeah, but he was 13. Honestly? I act the same way when I'm mad at someone.
Was he in the right in GoF? No. But do I think that's when he realized his feelings for Hermione, didn't know how to deal with it, so took it out on her? Because he was probably thinking; No I can't have feelings for her, she'd never even like me back. Also, he was 14, were you expecting him to be really mature? And also; it wouldn't have been the best night of her life or something, it was just prom. (But maybe don't listen to me about that, I've always been anti-prom.)
And about the ’Hermione, you're a girl’ comment; I kind of think of it a little bit differently. I think it was more, a start of asking her out, like ’Hermione, you're a girl. And I'm a boy. Wanna go to the Yule Ball with me? J-just as friends!’ I think he had wanted to ask her out for a while- and wondering why he wanted to ask her out- and that he had been building up courage, because asking somebody out takes a lot of courage and he's also really insecure. He just didn't know how to do it, and maybe it came out a little wrong.
And something else he gets a lot of hate for; leaving Harry and Hermione in the Horcrux Hunt. But he was under the control of the Locket (a Horcrux made by Voldemort), which affected him most presumably because of his insecurities. (Seriously he should have gotten help for that) and also, it was more that he was stepping out for a breather but just forgot about the charms, whatever they're called. Was it still a mistake? Yeah, but are you telling m you've never made mistakes (especially in bad times)? ALSO, NO MATTER WHAT, HE DID NOT- I REPEAT: HE DID NOT- SAY HARRY HAD NO FAMILY: ‘Oh, you’re sure, are you? Right then, well, I won’t bother myself about them. It’s all right for you two, isn’t it, with your parents safely out of the way –’ ‘My parents are dead!’ Harry bellowed. ‘And mine could be going the same way!’ yelled Ron. ’ To me, both were in the wrong in that situation.
Now is there anything I should adress about Ron? Well, in that case:
Malfoy;
*deep breath*
I FUCKING HATE THIS RACIST, STUPID, DEATH AND RAPE-WISHING TWAT.
Seriously, how does anyone like this guy?
Oh wait- They don't; they only like Tom Felton, who they think is hot. And if Malfoy was played by someone else, someone ’less attractive’, then nobody would be liking him. Trust me.
And as an ex Draco fan- yes, I admit to the part of my past I'm deeply ashamed of- I know how his fan-part of Tiktok looks like; all edits of Tom Felton (more specifically, him playing Malfoy) and no talks about Malfoy's character, or why they like him other than ’He's so hot’ and ’The boy who had no choice’.
Now to addressing the ’The boy who had no choice’ nickname; it's actually quite ironic, because in most of the series, he did have a choice. Chose to bully Harry, Hermione, Ron and Neville and probably countless other people. He chose to be the racist bully who wished death and rape upon people (Hermione, to be more specific.) Now I don't really know about how he wished rape upon Hermione, as I've only seen one person talk about it, about how Malfoy wished she would get her panties revealed in the incident at the Quidditch World Cup.
'Granger, they’re after Muggles,' said Malfoy. 'D’you want to be showing off your knickers in midair? Because if you do, hang around . . . they’re moving this way, and it would give us all a laugh.'
No, that's not him 'warning her', that's him wishing sexual assault on her. Having something as private as your panties revealed against your will is sexual assault; and that's what Malfoy wished would happen to her.
Stop seeing him in this distorted, rose-tinted view and start seeing him for what he is: a racist (him calling Hermione a m**blood, which is basically the wizard version of the n-word), stupid (Lucius, his father, said he was getting bad grades) death-wishing (multiple instances where he wished Hermione would die), rape-wishing (or at least sexual assault-wishing) twat.
So yeah, if you have not yet understood; I hate him.
Molly Weasley;
Watch Mikaila's video on her, called 'In defense of Molly Weasley' as she expresses it much better, in my opinion.
BUT I do not like how she has so many children even if they were poor just because she wanted a girl: Once I saw a Tumblr Post, saying that Molly didn't actually want a girl (or at least that there was no proof of it) and that it was just the locket saying that to Ron BUT if she didn't, why did she stop at Ginny? Did she, after seven kids, think 'Okay that's enough kids' NO, presumably, she was satisfied; she had gotten what she wanted. A girl. Also, what the locket said was based on Ron's feelings and he would definitely know if Molly had wanted a girl all along.
Arthur Weasley;
I've seen a couple of people here on Tumblr talking about how he's selfish for not trying to get a promotion when his family is poor just for his 'muggle fascination.' Now I do have to say this; I don't think he wasn't aiming for a promotion, rather that he just wasn't getting one. He got a promotion in the sixth book, if you remember, and why would he be aiming for one then? Exactly. He wasn't getting a promotion all those years, that's it. He was stuck in his position (that presumably didn't pay as much.)
---------
I might make a Part 2, talking about more characters. Just tell me what more characters you'd like to hear my opinion on, and I'll do it.
I'm sorry if the last part of it is a little bit bad, I was just tired when writing that and honestly just wanted to get this posted to move on to other stuff.

I still miss Quotev. It was the only writing site I actually enjoyed. I had a phase on Wattpad when I was 12-14 but that was before I found out about Quotev. I loved it there. I didn’t know it existed until 2019. I may have taken quizzes prior to that year but 2019 was when an old friend in high school signed me up for it. I never used the account and deleted it.
But then I decided to go back to it. That’s where I met two of my best online friends. The first one, I met them through a Harry Potter quiz. We both wrote fanfics that were tied together in the same universe as our first crossover. Then I met @xxiamtiebrousxx. We're so close. We’re both in the animated Barbie movies fandom, so she’s the Erika to my Anneliese, the Liana to my Alexa. She and I started writing constant collaborations and are trying to figure out how to continue now that Quotev is dead.
This is what I miss most about the site, the community and the way we both wrote together. I miss posting some random thing on feed and tagging her or one of my other mutuals. I miss the groups where she and I posted things privately for each other. I loved how accessible the site was, how clean it looked compared to Wattpad, and that it was so private.
Despite all of the fond memories I’ve made, I am honestly relieved in some ways that I’ve left the site. I went through hell on Quotev. A lot of people bullied me, and it wasn’t just simple cyber bullying, it was blatant betrayal. I had one friend a few years ago, who I really liked until I found out they were talking about me behind my back. When I confronted them, it turned into an argument and blew up in my face. They apologized and we tried again. But then they started hating on me for liking a specific Disney character, saying that I shouldn’t be liking him. It hurt. I lashed out because I was struggling a lot with depression and suicidal urges, but once again, things blew up in my face. I was the one getting yelled at and canceled. I lost another friend because of it. Turns out, he was just a jerk and we were better off without each other. Another user started ghosting me because of political reasons and started another war against me because I simply asked why she hurt me. This isn’t even the worst part.
On here, I met this guy who I cherished. He was really sweet to me then and I helped him discover who he was. He was struggling with being trans and wanted help finding a name and stuff. I gave him one based off of a character from a favorite novel of mine, and one he ended up reading because of me. He even said I was his muse, just like the character he was named after said to the character I most identified with. Things got rough afterwards. He was awful with communicating with me when things went wrong. His solution, ghosting me. He then ended up saying he was leaving me, and I flipped out because it was the start of my suicidal depression. We split.
But he found me again on Quotev. He stalked me there. Right after he returned into my life, there was a story posted on an anon story account. The account was created for authors who didn’t want to post stories linked to them, but still wanted to write. The intention was great but the outcome was devastating. One day I decided to check the account to see what had been posted. I saw an interesting title. I started reading it. The story had used my real name, my high school friends, and was profiting off of my current mental health issues that stemmed from abuse and friendship drama. I had every reason to get upset. My personal information had been breached to the public and it was clearly malicious. It’s very likely it was him because every single sign pointed to him, yet he denied it when I confronted him. The story made me physically ill. Someone wanted to hurt me. Things only got worse.
That same guy kept pestering me, and being the kind soul I am, I allowed him to talk to me, but from a distance because I was scared. He did the same thing again with the ghosting and I finally snapped. I was livid. What did he do in response? He started posting rumors about me that weren’t true and ended up turning almost all of my Quotev friends against me. One of them who was always there for me when I felt like I wanted to end my life posted on her feed “I hope Willow burns in hell and never sees the gates of heaven”. I broke down sobbing afterwards. It was a slew of getting blocked by old mutuals for something I didn’t do. My time from 2023 to shortly before the shutdown was full of abuse. I had to change accounts a hundred times in hopes of escaping the pure hell I was going through. The drama ruined a collaboration with my friend. People stopped reading it.
And about that one guy, one of the rumors was that I suicide baited him. I was actually suicidal and he thought my depression was a manipulation tactic to keep him from leaving. It was the Quotev/Tumblr equivalent of baby trapping in his eyes. I had offline drama too with my family and also an ex best friend who pulled some crap when he ditched me too. Quotev was supposed to be my safe space, but it turned into my worst nightmare.
I still sort of miss it. Once I got things under control, I just chatted with a few friends and stuff. I don’t love Wattpad but honestly, I realized how toxic Quotev truly was. I was chronically online, I kept getting hurt by people I thought could be trusted, and without it, I can focus on healing. I’m still going to write, and I may leave up my Quotev account for drafting purposes, but that era is behind me.
I joke that the site shutting down was a fate deserved, but at the same time, I hate that it happened because so many people are grieving. I don’t know if I could’ve left the site without this and recognize that it contributed to a lot trauma that may take a while to recover from. Some of these backstabbing Quotev users are here too, but since we are now not in the same circle, I feel free.
After running away from the villains in my life, I finally settled on Willow as my online name. You know that it means? It means freedom (and willow tree). Willow means freedom. The universe might’ve been telling me that I would soon be released from some of what had been tormenting me for an entire year. I will always have some nostalgia for Quotev and I miss how easy it was to navigate, but I had some very unfortunate experiences there that I hope not to experience here. It feels good to get this off my chest and to finally feel ready to move on. I spent so much time bending to other people’s whims that I’d forgotten what made me happiest. It’s time for me to say goodbye to the dead site and live my life.

Lily's friendship with Snape: a character study.
I don't think people talk enough about how much Snape's toxic friendship affected Lily's relationships.
Last time I logged in here was a long time ago and it was super rushed so I couldn't get my point across, but I'm willing to do it now.
I will apologize  in advance for any  possible grammar mistakes seeing that English is not my first language and this will be a very lenghty post.
What I tried to say there is that Snape toxic mindset and views pretty much affected all of Lily's opinions and trust on the people that surrounded them in their early Hogwarts years.
Let's put ourselves in Lily's place for a moment so we can fully understand where I'm coming from: at the time she entered at Hogwarts she only knew Snape, a person who was way more comfortable with their magic than she was, living in a household with a sister that would constantly judge her for being a wizard. Of course she would see him as a safe space for her to be herself, especially being so young (I personally think that 11yo is an extremely young age to enter Hogwarts but I will leave that for another post).
She saw Snape as the only friend that she truly had and logically was afraid of finding new ones because of her blood status. She didn't know how she was going to be treated by other people and at the time Snape was the only person that she could rely on, that she could fully trust.
Apart from loving the headcanon that she was a bit chubby and thought James' advances where only a joke, I also completely could see she hating James just because she let hersefl be led on by Snape's views on the Marauders so much that she started to view them like that too.
When you are in a toxic and so dependent environment, you feel compelled to agree with everything the other person is saying, especially in a place of such emotional vulnerability as I think Lily was at the time. Snape was her childhood best friend, which already make things more complicated and carrying a way bigger emotional baggage. Now, in such a young age, having to discover a completely new side of youself and be constantly surrounded by people full of hate, it can be extremely hard to pick who you can and cannot trust. And Lily unfortunately found that on Snape.
So you can easily imagine the damage and impact that him calling her a mudblood had on her. It must have been almost unbearable to her, seeing someone she trusted so much become only one more of the people seh had to be constantly aware of. All because of a factor that she can't change, can't control, can't do anything about it, her blood status.
Imagine Lily going on a war and fearing for her life only to see her childhood best friend slowly go into the other side, the side that didn't care if she was dead or alive. The side that meant that if you are a muggleborn or a half blood, you don't matter. The side that said that Lily's life didn't matter.
I'm compelled to believe that after Snape called her a mudblood she shut herself down completely. After all how could she easily trust anyone again? Her trust was ripped to shreds and I truly believe that this made her suffer alone for most of the time. Because she couldn't allow people to get close to her and try to help her, afraid that they would be the next, that Snape's "mudblood" wouldn't be the last one she would hear.
And I think this, this is the nail on the coffin that people misinterpret until today on the whole Harry Potter series. Lily didn't reject James advances because she didn't like him or because he was a "bully" and didn't stop bothering her. Lily didn't know the real James, she didn't know if his advances were real or fake because of the walls that Snape had put on her head about James. She couldn't afford to trust James. And I completely understand that, because if Snape, a halfblood, called her a mudblood, what would James do? James Potter, a complete pureblood and a sacred 28 member. It doesn't make sense for Lily to trust him so quickly after blocking Snape from her life.
Snape made Lily become a deeply mistrusting person because he had betrayed her.
I coud go on about Sirius, Remus and the girls, and how that affected their relationships with Lily tok but I wanted this post to be really based on the canon information that we have. Which is practically none but I'm mostyl referring to Lily's disagreement with Snape's new friendships, him calling her a mudblood and she rejecting James before they got together.
I think that we tend to ignore Lily's friendship with Snape or only perceive it by James or Snape's perspective becayse it is what J*R wants us to do, she wants us to pick a side on the fight between the two and not look at the bigger picture. At Lily's side of the story.
I would love to hear some more thoughts and opinions on the matter because Lily deserves so much more and is an awfully underrated character.

Could you talk about the Statute of Secrecy? Or the Ministry’s corruption in General :)
Well, those are two different things. Given that I believe I have an ask floating somewhere in my inbox on the Statute, I suppose we’ll talk about the Ministry of Magic today.
I feel like this is such a broad topic though that I’m not quite sure where to start. I guess I’ll just throw spaghetti at the internet wall and see what sticks.
The Ministry is a Reflection of Society Who Never Admitted They Were the Death Eaters
In the ministry of Harry Potter’s era the Ministry is hopelessly corrupt and filled to the brim with spies (more on this in a later section). Lucius Malfoy, very high up in an unofficial capacity in the Ministry and owner of the Ministry’s mouth piece: The Daily Prophet, was a known Death Eater with a very flimsy excuse.
How is he even able to wield so much influence, you ask? Well, I think it’s not just because of Fudge picking the wrong friends.
I think most the population probably does believe Lucius Malfoy is innocent the way Fudge does. I think it’s a very small subsection, i.e. Dumbledore’s lackies, who go “Nah, ain’t buying it.” I think that, in 1981, when it came time to reveal just how many were Death Eaters and how far this went many people just couldn’t handle it.
Because it was to the point where the nation wasn’t battling Death Eaters, Death Eaters were the nation. Look at the members, these are and were the most influential and prominent families in the country, who combined hold a non-small minority of seats in the Wizengamot. More, these were only the participants, combine those who given anti-muggle and muggleborn sentiment (which I believe are pervasive even among those who claim they fight for the rights of muggles and muggleborns) and you get a nation that is suddenly facing a huge cultural issue that was never previously acknowledged.
We’re talking an entire purge of the Wizengamot, of the Ministry, of the major families and cornerstones of this society. The Black family is completely and utterly destroyed.
People were and remain throughout the 1990′s, desperate to believe it was not as bad as it was or isn’t as bad as it is. If Lucius Malfoy says he was never really a Death Eater then he was never really a Death Eater.
The Ministry is Lousy With Corruption and Spies
What’s hilarious to me is not only is the Ministry incompetent. It is positively flooded with spies. Given the ministry’s overbloated, it’s not even a sizeable minority of employees, but nonetheless every major department has at least one person (if not more) who works for somebody else.
Most work for Tom Riddle. He seems to have intelligence in every department. Through Lucius, who is working pretty much as an unofficial aide to Fudge, he has access to Fudge, complete control of the Daily Prophet, and a voice on the Hogwarts’ board of governors.
Through Rockwood, Tom has direct access to the Department of Mysteries which Lucius is then able to take full advantage of.
Lucius is able to set up an ambush in the Department of Mysteries, getting escaped convicts into the building with the none the wiser, and, had his sole purpose not been a prophecy that only Harry Potter and the Dark Lord can touch, he would have been able to take what he liked. (Though it was always odd to me that the plan was to get Harry Potter to do it, when the better solution would have been to polyjuice Tom Riddle into someone else, set up a tour with the department, and then Tom wanders off conveniently to pick up the prophecy. My theory, I suppose, is that chasing after the prophecy was mostly an exercise in punishing Lucius. And then Lucius fucked up.)
And of course, in book seven, Tom Riddle makes a puppet minister. Point being, to me, it always said a lot that in Book Seven Tom just sort of walks into the building and says, “I’m in charge now” and everyone says “okay”. There was no second Wizarding War, it was a bloodless coup that met zero resistance from anyone but angry school children.
But that’s Tom’s spies, we also have other spies. Who am I talking about, Dumbledore’s folks of course.
Shacklebolt, Moody, Tonks, and Arthur Weasley are all spies, they just don’t have the introspection to even realize it (which really tells you something about the state of corruption in the ministry). They all work for the ministry, yes, but they in fact pass on information to and serve another master, whose goals do not always align with the government and was a hop skip and a jump away from overthrowing the government at any given moment.
And they don’t even really realize they’re doing this! There doesn’t even seem to be a thought of “I’m doing this for the greater good”, they don’t seem to acknowledge that what they’re doing is very very very bad. Arthur, in fact, is appalled when Percy refuses to do this (well, he’s upset for a lot of reasons, such as that he thinks Percy is spying on Arthur for the minister, but in there is also that Percy refuses to help out with the Order or follow Dumbledore without question).
Harry paints the Dumbledore’s Army threat that Umbridge saw as something utterly ridiculous, but honestly if I was the ministry I would be worried about this. Dumbledore’s people have infiltrated the ministry just as deeply and badly as the Death Eaters, Dumbledore’s known for recruiting children into his vigilante organization, I don’t know what he’s doing with an army of schoolchildren but I can smell a coup coming.
Anyway, I’m getting off track, point being though that corruption is not only expected and accepted by the ministry, they cannot recognize what it even is. They’re at the point where paying bribes is allocated in their budget.
I Don’t Blame the Ministry For Not Thinking Tom Riddle Was Anti-Jesus
Fudge is designed to get a lot of flack for his outright denial that Voldemort had returned from the dead. He, and other denier characters, are meant to be fools with their heads in the sand who can’t see the obvious.
I ask what about it was obvious?
The only witness to Tom Riddle’s resurrection, Harry Potter, has a known history of erratic behavior.
The previous year, he’d performed illegal magic on his muggle aunt and run away from home. During the previous school year, Harry was revealed to be a parselmouth in a time when the Chamber of Secrets was presumably opened and the mystery was never fully solved (remember, that it was a possessed Ginny never comes to light for more than a few people.) Beyond that, since his first day of school, Harry is routinely in and out of detention, constantly out after curfew, and only seems to not be in serious trouble because he’s openly favored by Dumbledore (who gives him hundreds of points for breaking one of his school rules, during the Philosopher’s Stone fiasco in first year). In 1994, Harry is entered into the Tri-Wizard Tournament under very suspicious circumstances.
We know why all this happens to Harry but from the outside he looks like a delinquent. In fact, he kind of is a delinquent.
Point being, the only witness is not only Harry Potter (who is already sketch) but it’s Harry Potter holding a dead body of a rival in the tournament.
And he’s claiming that a man who has been nearly fifteen years dead, a man who held the nation in terror and Harry Potter is beloved for destroying, has returned from the grave and conveniently murdered Cedric.
Why is Cedric dead? Well, you see, he and Harry both touched the goblet at the same time because they were going to share the reward. The goblet, a national treasure, was turned into a portkey so that Voldemort could kidnap him.
Why didn’t Voldemort just kidnap him at any other point during the year where he’s guaranteed not to get tag a longs or the wrong kid? Uh... VOLDEMORT IS BACK (for the record, I think it’s because Barty got hung up on the goblet scheme and was determined to ruin his father’s day.)
Where is Voldemort at this very moment? Being evil, somewhere, that is not right here. No, Harry has zero evidence this happened.
Frankly, I wouldn’t believe Harry either.
And when Dumbledore goes about promoting this as sound evidence that Tom Riddle has in fact returned, it starts to get even sketchier. Rather than sounding the alarm, Dumbledore is using this boy’s madness to stir the public into a panic that he, perhaps, plans to take advantage of.
After Dumbledore does that, I would suspect that, even if Harry does give me a memory of the graveyard scene that his head had been tampered with by Dumbledore.
And it’s so convenient that, of all the names Harry picked, it’s Voldemort who killed Cedric. It seems like a ploy to not only deflect the fact that he murdered Cedric but
Harry’s very upset when some don’t take him at his word but Harry’s also a dumbass and a psychopath. He hates everyone who doesn’t agree with him.
More importantly, necromancy isn’t a thing in the Harry Potter universe. People don’t rise from the dead. Horcruxes exist, but they’re extremely rare, and it seems like no one ever really makes use of them.
So, yeah, not unreasonable that Fudge didn’t immediately go, “My god, Voldemort has risen from the dead! LIGHT THE BEACONS AND SUMMON ROHAN!”
So yeah, it’d take me seeing Voldemort waltzing through the Department Mysteries to go “... Goddammit, this man is more unkillable than Sheev Palpatine.”
After the Epilogue, I am Certain It’s Still the Same Damn Ministry
People hate the epilogue, but in a way, I love it, because it confirms many of my headcanons: these people don’t learn a goddamn thing.
Nothing in their society seems to have changed. Instead of one set of families holding all the power it’s now a new set of families and friends holding all the power. The difference being that they are now all in some way connected to Harry Potter.
Nepotism’s still the name of the game, we still see only human children boarding the Hogwarts Express so you know shit hasn’t changed for the goblins, Draco Malfoy’s alive and well and holds a position in the Ministry that Kingsly graciously allows him to have, it’s just now you have Hermione writing all your laws for you.
The Wizarding World is still the Wizarding World in every single capacity. The only difference is that Voldemort is dead again. Hooray.
Harry and friends simply don’t have the introspection to even realize it.

Tumblr media
It all began on an early autumn afternoon.
1815, an afternoon in September, Frederick Weasley just threw a water ball on his potions professor, and he was now hiding in a broom closet, waiting for his angry professor to go away.
But he heard footsteps approaching the door. Just when Fred was sure that detention is waiting for him, he saw a girl at the door.
“What are you doing-” before you could even finish your question, Fred pulled you into the broom closet, closed the door, and covered your mouth with his hand.
The space inside the broom closet was so limited that your bodies were pressed together now. You felt your face heating up, and your heart was racing. You should be furious. You should scold the man in front of you for being rude or even slap him for that, but you were just standing there stiffly, with your eyes wide opened.
There was another series of footsteps approaching the broom closet now, and you heard the potion professor yelling, “You’re dead if I catch you! Ten points from Gryffindor!”
After the sound of footsteps faded, Fred finally let go of you. You finally got the chance to step on his foot, causing him to jump in pain.
“I probably deserved that.” His hands were still rubbing his foot, but he didn’t forget to joke, “So, tell me, what brings you to the broom closet?”
You glared at him, “I was looking for my cat.”
He nodded, “I’m guessing that you are curious about what brings me here, to this broom closet, to meet with you.”
“Oh, I already know. You just threw a water ball on the potions professor, and now you are on the run.”
His face suddenly lit up, “So you just saw my work?”
“Who doesn’t know about Frederick Weas-”
“It’s Fred.”
You glared at him and continued, “Who doesn’t know about Frederick Weasley’s shenanigans.”
“So you already know my name!” He smiled, couldn’t hide the pride on his face, “May I have the honor to know yours?”
You rolled your eyes, “Y/F/N Y/L/N.”
He bowed a little and pretended to tip his imaginary hat, “Y/F/N Y/L/N, my pleasure.”
This man was frivolous, reckless, and didn’t respect any rules. You had all the reasons to hate him, but why was your heart beating so fast? You sighed, as you could already foresee a future that’s out of your control, “My displeasure.”
~
Like many romance novels from that period, the girl with a strict upbringing fell in love with the infamous troublemaker. You and Fred were very different people. You were like different sides of a coin, but this couldn’t affect the attraction between you two. Once the spark between you was ignited, there was no turning back. It was as if fate was pulling you together.
You decided to get married after graduating from Hogwarts, but your family forbade this marriage.
They said the Weasleys were blood traitors, and Frederick Weasley was nothing but an ignorant boy of ill-breeding. Your pureblood supremacist family could never give you their blessings. In fact, they already betrothed you to the youngest son of the Burkes, Ralph Burke.
You’ve met Ralph a few times. Not only did he believe in pureblood supremacy, but he also believed that women should do nothing but stay home and be a good wife.
Fred’s situation wasn’t too good as well. His family hated your family, and they wanted their son to marry the Johnson girl.
~
You and Fred met under a sycamore tree. He sounded desperate, “Let’s run away! Let’s run to a place where no one knows us. France, America, anywhere but here!”
You nodded. You didn’t want to care about how eloping would ruin your and your family’s reputation. These ridiculous rules controlled you all your life; it was time for you to finally do something reckless, something for yourself.
He let out a sigh of relief and held you tightly, “Three days later, I’ll wait for you under this sycamore tree at night. We will get married the next morning!”
~
After the longest three days in your life, you tiptoed around the house to make sure that everyone was asleep, and you started running as soon as you left the house. You only brought a small bag of galleons to help you survive the first few days and left everything else behind.
You wanted nothing from your past. All you wanted was to start a new life that is carefree and full of choices you could make on your own. A life that you could spend with someone you love.
But when you reached the sycamore tree, the person waiting for you wasn’t Fred, but Ralph.
Ralph’s face was emotionless when he told you that Fred already left the town two days ago because he was afraid. He was afraid of being tied down by you and being forced into another marriage by his family, so he ran away on his own.
You couldn’t believe it. You knew Fred loved freedom, but he was never someone who would break a promise.
Ralph took you to the Weasleys, and Mrs. Weasley’s reaction confirmed everything as she yelled, “Where is my sweet Frederick? What did you do to him??”
So it was true. He ran away, without you.
You felt lifeless as you collapsed. You couldn’t understand it. If he was so afraid of the restrictions that marriage brings, why would he even suggest eloping with you?
You felt deceived and betrayed. Anger and sorrow were clouding your reasons. You were willing to sacrifice everything for him. Your reputation, your family, the life you had, everything. But he still ran away without you. He left you behind.
You felt like a joke.
You felt hopeless.
~
Three months later, after still not hearing anything from Fred, you gave in to your family’s expectations and agreed to Ralph’s proposal.
You were locked up in the Burke Manor after becoming Ralph’s bride. Misery and resentment were the only things that kept you company in this cold cage that was shaped like a luxurious manor.
Finally, after two years of living in this agony, you closed your eyes forever.
You left this world still resenting Fred. You left without knowing that two years ago under that sycamore tree, he closed his eyes before you.
That night when you and Fred met at the tree for the last time, Ralph was there, too. After hearing that his fiancee was planning to run away with another man, a blood traitor, he couldn’t stand the humiliation. He confronted Fred, but Fred didn’t seem to care at all. Merlin, Ralph hated that smug smile of Fred.
Rage took over him, and he raised his wand at Fred. It was a simple death curse. Ralph took care of the crime scene calmly and returned home, pretending like nothing ever happened.
And just like that, Fred disappeared. No one knew the truth. No one knew that until his last breath, he was still holding a wedding ring. The world only knew a coward called Frederick Weasley, who ran away on his own after promising forever to a poor girl.
~~~
September 1991, you were admitted to Hogwarts along with the famous Harry Potter. You soon became friends with Harry, Hermione, and Ron. And naturally, you also became friends with the other Weasley kids, except for one, Fred Weasley.
You were even great friends with George, but there was something about him that warned you to stay away from him.
Fred was hurt, but he wasn’t too worried because he knew for sure that he could find a way to make you like him.
1995. You were having lunch with your friends at the Great Hall. It was a perfectly normal day until you saw a spark floating in front of you. And before you realized what it was, something exploded on top of your head. For a moment, you thought your heart was jumping out of your chest.
You looked up and saw fireworks exploding across the Great Hall and spelling out “Y/N Happy Birthday.” You rolled your eyes, knowing exactly who would come up with something dramatic like this.
You also heard some people gasping and saying that they were jealous. But you weren’t happy with it at all. It not only almost scared your soul out of your body, but also made you feel embarrassed.
You stood up and tried to run away, but you heard Snape’s voice, “Ms. Y/L/N, Mr. Weasley, this is not a carnival. Detention.”
“Professor, it was all me. She has nothing to do with it!” Great, at least he’s not only a stupid git, but a chivalrous stupid git.
“Good. Ten more points from Gryffindor.”
The Gryffindor table soon started groaning, and you sighed. What kind of birthday gift is this?
~
After class, you and Fred were sent to the divination classroom to wipe all the crystal balls. You were sent here because Snape didn’t want to risk having Fred breaking all of his precious potion bottles. As of Trelawney’s crystal balls? Snape couldn’t care less.
Looking at the classroom that was filled with crystal balls, you sighed. What did you do to deserve this bloody simpleton in your life?
“Y/N, I’m sorry...” You could hear the guilt in his voice.
But you still replied bitterly, “Forget it. It was nothing. Who cares about spending birthday at Hogsmeade anyway, right?” You knew you shouldn’t be so passive-aggressive, but you just couldn’t put away the hostility towards him.
But Fred couldn’t take it anymore, “Why do you hate me so much? If it was something I did, I apologize. But you hated me from the very beginning. What the bloody hell did I do?”
“I-” You rolled your eyes. Isn’t it clear enough? You hated him because...Then it struck you. You didn’t know how to answer his question. Yes, you could say you hated him because he was reckless and pompous, but was this the real reason why you hated him?
“I-I don’t know.” You lowered your head, feeling both defeated and confused.
“Then could you at least try not to hate me that much?”
Guilt started rising in your stomach, but you didn’t want to admit your defeat, “Why do you care? There are so many others who love you.”
“I care because I fancy you!”
You were still dumbfounded and not sure how to react, but you heard a cough behind you. You and Fred turned together and saw Trelawney.
Except now, her eyes were rolled back, and she started speaking in a hoarse, guttural voice, “180 years later, the star-crossed lovers meet again...One with regret... and one with resentment...On this fateful day...destiny ties them back together once again...”
And then she coughed again and returned to her usual self, “Oh, that was embarrassing. What was I doing here again..Oh right! You two can leave now. I don’t need cleaning here.”
“But Professor Trelawney, Professor Snape said...”
“Oh don’t worry dear, I already told him. You two are good to go!” Trelawney thought back on how scared she was when Snape told her that Fred Weasley was cleaning her classroom. She came here as fast as she could and was relieved when she saw all the crystal balls were still intact.
~
“Do you think Trelawney was talking about us?” Fred asked after you two left the classroom.
“When did you start to believe in that?” You sounded nonchalant, but deep down, you always believed that Trelawney was actually excellent at divination, so you started panicking after hearing that oracle.
Fred ignored your question, “What did she say? One with resentment? That sounds like you.”
“And you’re the one with regret? Do you even know what regret feels like?”
“Yea! I regret that I did make a great impression. I regret that...I didn’t make you fancy me like I fancy you!”
“You are hopeless, Frederick Weasley. Stop saying that if you don’t mean it!” You were angry. Does he even know that he shouldn’t say something like that? What if people took it seriously? But knowing how frivolous he was, he probably said that to everyone. So why were you still blushing? The more you thought about it, the angrier you got, so you decided to walk faster to get rid of him.
But Fred kept up and stopped you, “But I’m serious. I mean it.”
He looked so sincere when his warm brown eyes met yours, making your heart skip a beat. You stuttered, “F-fine...then I guess I...don’t hate you either...”
“Great! That’s some progress!” He grinned, “You know, if we start running now, we might still have time to go to Hogsmeade.”
You raised your eyebrows and he continued, “If I could make up for your birthday, would you go on a date with me?”
“I... could consider that.” Your face was heating up, but you started walking faster again so he won’t see how flustered you were.
But of course, he kept up again. “Why are you always calling me Frederick?”
“I don’t know. It just appeared in my head. Plus, I feel like you hate it.”
“I do. It sounds sad.”
“Who knows, maybe it’s your name in your past life,” you joked.
“Then I’m pretty sure I hated it in my past life, too,” he shrugged, “Whatever, this life is all that matters now.”
You didn’t reply as you looked at him. He was smiling at you, and at this moment, you knew your future was going to change, in a good way this time.
Choose Me Instead II Draco Malfoy x Reader II Chapter 3 of 27: Honesty
Summary:  Pretending to be in a relationship with Draco Malfoy to get back at your ex might have not been the smartest idea you ever had. Especially during your last year of Hogwarts where you should be focusing on exams and your future plans. However, you were just pretending. There was no way in hell you could actually catch feelings for someone like Malfoy. … Right?
CHAPTER 2
A/N: I’ve come to the realization that I’ve changed so much in this story during the past few days and added some chapters that it can probably already count as a slow-burn fic. I guess. Not sure. Have fun! Thanks for the lovely feedback! I love you all to death <3
Words: 3583 Pairing: Draco Malfoy x female!Reader, post-war Warnings: mentions of sex, light swearing
Tumblr media
It was weird being back at Hogwarts. Something about it still didn’t feel right. After the war, it was unimaginable for you to come back here and finish school. But they took their time and closed it off for over a year. The school got rebuilt, the victims buried, the survivors tried to heal and move on. On the first anniversary of the end of the war, McGonagall – the new headmistress of Hogwarts – publicly announced that the school would open for the coming year and the seventh graders were given the chance to repeat their year.
You were excited about coming back and seeing your friends again, gaining a little bit of normalcy. School, homework, petty drama – you wanted nothing more than to be busy with all of those things. Yet something felt different when you stood in the Great Hall for the first time after your arrival. Something had changed. You had changed.
“You’re daydreaming again, Y/N.”
Ginny’s voice pulled you back into reality. Your best friend sat across from you with her eyebrows raised, chewing on a croissant.
“Tired,” you replied and smiled briefly.
“From what?”, she asked. “You left super early last night!”
“Yeah, because it was super boring.”
The redhead shook her head. “It was not! There was a fight between two Hufflepuffs and that’s the best indicator for a fun party.”
You chuckled. “Is it though?!”
“Or,” suddenly she put down her croissant. A devious smile appeared on her face and she began talking with a lowered voice: “Did you leave the party early with your date to –”
“I beg you to not finish that sentence, please!”
Ginny laughed. “Oh come on! McLaggen is kinda cute!”
“He’s awful.”
“He doesn’t need a good character to –”
“Ginny!” You playfully threw an apple at her. She caught it, laughing. “You’re the worst,” you said and shook your head.
Just when you wanted to change the topic, someone else started walked in. You stopped midsentence, staring at the couple who were coming down the hall, holding hands.
Ginny saw them too and she knew what you were about to do next. “Don’t, Y/N,” she said softly. “Stay here. At some point, you’ll have to face them. They’re our friends. He’s my brother. We have classes together now.”
You knew she was right. Yet, running away still seemed like a better option to you. Ginny sensed that, reached over the table and squeezed your hand. “Stay,” she repeated.
Ron and Hermione sat down right beside you, cheerfully wishing you a good morning. You didn’t reply but smiled at Harry instead who sat down next to Ginny and gave her a kiss. They were a cute couple and you were happy for the both of them. They finally found each other.
The four began to talk right away. It was still exciting to be in the same year as them, to finally share classes and spend so much time together. Well, not for you to be honest. You could happily live without seeing Ron every day.
You tuned out their conversation after a while, still debating whether or not you should leave the table. Your eyes drifted over the other students in the Great Hall and got stuck at the Slytherins. Not many people sat there as most of them had already finished breakfast. Before you knew what you were doing, you noticed he wasn’t here.
You felt a little sting of disappointment and frowned. Where did this came from? As if you cared about seeing Malfoy.
Saying that you didn’t replay that kiss in your mind over and over again would have been a lie. When you left the small room last night, you felt dizzy and confused. Yet you repeatedly told yourself that the kiss meant nothing. It happened so you didn’t get caught. Good god, it was Draco Malfoy, probably the last person in this school you wanted to kiss (well, besides McLaggen). So no. This kiss didn’t mean anything.
“Y/N?”, you turned your head when Hermione said your name.
“Why are you staring at the Slytherins?”, she asked.
You shrugged but the blush on your cheeks betrayed you. “No reason. I was thinking.”
She frowned. Ginny and Harry looked at each other in confusion.
“So? What is it?”, you asked.
“Right, um, we wanted to ask if you’d like to come play Quidditch with us?”
You raised an eyebrow. “Since when do you play Quidditch?”
“Ron taught me over the summer,” she smiled at her boyfriend. “Besides, they have to try out for the team in two weeks anyways so why not practice a little.”
You looked at Ron who stared at his plate. He probably felt as comfortable with the thought of you playing together as you did. The way he avoided your eyes made you angry though.
“No, sorry”, you quickly said and suddenly stood up. “Homework.” This was it. You had to leave.
 ***
You gritted your teeth angrily as you made your way up the stairs. God, you still hated him for how he treated you three months ago. You were supposed to be friends and he fucked it all up. Now you could barely stand the sight of him and every encounter left you feeling like you needed to punch a brick wall.
Being so lost in your thoughts, you almost ran around the corner, crashing into someone.
“Watch it, Y/L/N!”
Great.
“Watch it yourself, Malfoy!”, you snapped.
Draco Malfoy stood in front of you, one hand in the pocket of his pants, the other gripping your arm to prevent you from falling down. It must have been out of instinct because as soon as he realized he was touching you, he let go as if you were a hot plate.
“Someone got up on the wrong side of the bed,” he stated dryly.
“Shut up,” you mumbled, lowering the tone of your voice a little. “And let me through.”
He did neither. “Did McLaggen find you after all?!”
“None of your business, Malfoy!” With that, you pushed him aside and continued walking down the corridor. You were too mad for Malfoys bullshit.
“Y/L/N!” Apparently he was particular talkative this morning.
You ignored him.
“I couldn’t care less for your obvious boy troubles –”
Who did he think he was?!
“– however, I still have something that belongs to you.”
This made you stop dead in your tracks and turn around. “What?”, you asked, brows furrowed in confusion.
He smirked. “Your shoe.”
Oh. Oops.
Annoyed, you shrugged. “So give it back to me.”
“It’s in the Slytherin common room.”
“I’d rather die than go down there.”
“I’d change the attitude if I were you. After all, you want something from me,” his voice grew colder.
You were unimpressed by that. “Make me,” you shot back.
There it was again – that look on his face. The same look he had yesterday as he gazed over your body in the small room. It made you shiver – and for a second you weren’t sure if it was the good or the bad kind of shiver.
Then he smirked again: “Quidditch field. Tonight after dinner.” And while he already started walking backwards he added: “I’d rather die than be caught talking to a Gryffindor.”
Goddamn Slytherins.
***
It was unusually cold for a September night. You shivered and zipped up your jacket, regretting that you didn’t bring a scarf. No student or teacher seemed to be outside at this time, only the occasional crow flying above your head and the rustling of leaves accompanied you on your way to the Quidditch field.
The reason why Malfoy chose the Quidditch field of all places to give you back your shoe was beyond your knowledge. Yet you didn’t complain. In about half an hour, your friends would join you. Before the war, this was one of your favourite spots to just hang out and talk.
When you arrived on the field, it took you a while to spot Malfoy. He sat way up on the bleachers. You groaned and made your way up the stairs. Malfoy didn’t notice that you came as he was busy writing something in a small green notebook. Huh. Interesting.
He flinched when you sat down beside him and quickly closed the book.
“What are you writing?”, you asked curiously.
Malfoy pretended not to hear your question and instead reached inside his bag. “Here,” he pulled out your shoe, handing it to you.
“Thanks,” you put in the small bag you brought. “So what are you writing?”
He looked at you with an annoyed expression. “You have what you want so you can go.”
“You’re no fun, Malfoy.”
“Says the Gryffindor.”
“Excuse me?”, you raised an eyebrow. “We’re more fun than all the Slytherins combined.”
“Right,” he scoffed.
Still, you didn’t move or leave so with a sigh, he added: “Do you have no friends to bother?”
You grinned. “I do. In fact, they’ll be here in –”, you took a look at your watch, “– twenty minutes.”
Malfoy rolled his eyes. “Perfect.”
“Why did you tell me to meet you here?”
“I was gonna be here anyways,” he shrugged. “Easier to make you come to me.”
You ignored his sly remark. “You were going to be here anyways? Alone?”
Another shrug.
Leaning back, you watched Malfoy from the side. He had dark circles under his eyes and kept his gaze focused on the field, his fingers playing with the sides of the notebook. Something (beside you sitting next to him) bothered him.
“So what was up with you this morning?”, he broke the silence.
You raised an eyebrow. “As if you care.”
“No,” he admitted. “But you’re obviously not leaving until your friends come and that question might make you stop staring at me.”
You chuckled softly. Then you realized that he was actually waiting for an answer. “Nothing important.”
“I figured.”
“You’re a jerk.”
“Probably,” Malfoy stated without any emotion in his voice.
You were silent for a few seconds. Part of you wanted to get up and leave. After all, Malfoy was probably the last one you could trust. He didn’t care and it was literally none of his business. You didn’t even like each other. Keeping it simple and vague was probably the best approach: “Dumb stuff, really. Like you said – boy troubles.”
Malfoy shifted without noticing it, turning his body more towards you, leaning in a little. “Well, now I’m curious. Who managed to make Y/L/N this mad and can he teach me?”
“I don’t know if you’re keen on Ron being your teacher,” the sentence just slipped out. You regretted it right away.
Malfoys eyes widened. “No fucking way.” Then he began to smirk – that evil, ‘I’m-better-than-you’-smirk he had perfected over the years.
Your face felt like it was on fire and you were glad it was getting dark already. Maybe he wouldn’t notice the blush. “Oh, be quiet!”
“Weasley?”, he scoffed, not believing it. He stared at you with quite the interest now. There seemed to be a lot more to you than he would have guessed. “How the fuck did that happen? Isn’t he dating the … isn’t he dating Granger?”
You knew what he wanted to call her but were surprised that he stopped himself. That never happened before.
“Yes, he is,” you mumbled and gave him a suggestive look.
This caused Malfoy to laugh. It was a dry, short laugh. He leaned back a little. “You’re kidding, right? Fucking hell, Weasel managed to not only screw you but do so while dating Granger?”
“I like how eloquently you phrased that,” you said sarcastically.
He ignored you. “How did that happen?”
“Okay, first of all”, you began, “… they weren’t dating when it happened. I’m not a homewrecker, that’s probably more of a Slytherin thing.”
“Does she know?”
“Know what?”
“Does Granger know you two f–”
“Geez, Malfoy, watch your language,” you interrupted him quickly, before you added: “And no.”
“So cheating isn’t a Gryffindor thing but lying is?”, Malfoy concluded, smirking again. “Good to know.”
“Oh, shut up,” you raised your chin. You were right about this in the beginning – you shouldn’t have told him anything. How were you supposed to get this right? Even though there was no reason for you to explain yourself to him, you still felt the need to: “They were going through a crisis and broke up and well … I spent a few weeks with their family and I always considered Ron a good friend but … but something happened. And then he ended things with me and got back together with Granger. Well, he got back together with her first and announced it in front of everyone, including me.”
“That’s how he told you that you two were over?”
You nodded. “Yup.”
“Phew,” Malfoy let out a whistle. “Wow. I must admit, I’m impressed.”
“Sure you are.”
Suddenly Malfoys facial expression changed from amusement to confusion. “So what’s the big deal now? You two screwed a few times and now he’s playing house with Granger again.”
You sent him another suggestive glance which caused him to let out another laugh.
“Please don’t tell me you got feelings for the Weasel,” he said in complete disbelief. Then his eyes suddenly began to wander further down and you realized he was looking at your … body. Rude. Before you got the chance to put him in his place, he simply said: “You can do a lot better, y’know.”
Oh. This was unexpected. You felt a blush creeping up your cheeks again and felt actually a little flattered by his words. Yet, they confused you. Why would he give a Gryffindor a compliment?! Was there a hidden insult in it? Maybe a slight undertone you didn’t notice?
“It goes without saying that this conversation stays between us,” you cleared your throat. “No one knows about this whole mess except Ginny. And you.”
Malfoy nodded. “You put an awful lot of trust in me.”
“Don’t disappoint me then.”
The two of you were quiet for a few moments. It was almost completely dark by now and a nervous glance to your watch made you aware that Ginny and the rest of her friends might appear any second now. The silence grew uncomfortable after a while.
“What’s up with that whole engagement thing, you mentioned yesterday?”, you wanted to know, remembering that weird comment of him. “And don’t act all mysterious again. I told you my mess now you have to share yours.”
Malfoy snorted. “Ask away.”
This was easier than expected. “Are you dating the little Greengrass?” Totally understandable if he was – Astoria was the perfect mixture of smart and drop dead gorgeous. A lot of guys were into her.
“No.”
“She called you ‘honey’.”
“Yes.”
You frowned. “I’m confused.”
“Do I really have to explain to you how pureblood marriages work?”, Malfoy said with a mocking undertone.
“Of course not. I just thought we left that behind us when the war ended”, you remarked.
He gave a dismissive wave of his hand. “As if hundreds of years of tradition can be forgotten with one war.”
“So you’re forced to marry her?”, you tried to understand the situation better.
“No, it’s an arranged marriage which is not even official yet,” Malfoy shifted slightly. “Mother would like it because the Greengrass family is still respected and …”
“… rich.”
He glanced at you quickly. “We lost a lot.”
“I bet,” you scoffed.
Abruptly, Malfoy got up and grabbed his bag. “I should leave.”
Out of instinct, you extended your hand to reach for him but stopped just inches in front of his arm. “No, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it like that”, you apologized. Feelings of guilt and pity appeared inside of you as you didn’t expect him to be so openly hurt by what you said. “I heard … well, everyone heard about the trials and your parents and all that. Sorry.”
Malfoy hesitated but then sat down again. His whole demeanour had changed in just seconds. He had almost been … approachable but now the look in his eyes was as cold as ice again.
You cleared your throat. “Do you want to marry her?”
He didn’t answer right away. You wondered what went through his head in this moment.
“I don’t ask myself that.”
The answer didn’t surprise you. “Why not?”, you tried to dig deeper.
Again, a few seconds passed before he mumbled: “No, I don’t want to marry her. I hardly know her.”
“Hmm,” you nodded. “Does she want to marry you?”
“I don’t know”, he gave a half shrug. “She had a thing with Zabini over the summer so I guess … I’m probably not her first choice.”
The answer to all of his problems seemed so easy, you thought. Yet it would be met with much apprehension. Traditional pureblood families like his were difficult when it came to this stuff.
Knowing what his reaction would be, you still had to say it: “So don’t get engaged.” Before he could reply, you raised your hand. “Yeah, I know, traditions and all that bullshit. Why don’t you just start breaking traditions?”
Malfoy shook his head. “My family works a little different than yours.
“Not that different to be honest”, you whispered under your breath.
He heard you and you were met with a very confused look. When you didn’t elaborate, he continued talking: “Anyways, I can’t. I could try to postpone but I’d need a very convincing reason.”
“Like?”
“Another girl from a good family.”
“And?”
“And what?”
A grin appeared on your face. “There are at least ten girls I can name right away who’d love to get a shot with you.”
Seriously, even most of the Gryffindor girls your age had been crushing on Malfoy at least once. He was very attractive and clever and that whole ‘bad boy’-act made quite a few girls weak in their knees. You had noticed this too but being so close friends with Ginny and Harry those thoughts never found room to grow inside of you. In your mind, Malfoy had always been an arrogant jerk. Still is, you corrected yourself quietly.
“Have you spoken with them since I became a –”
… a Death Eater, you finished the sentence in your head. Looking at the young man in front of you, wearing his school scarf while sitting in a sports stadium, the whole concept of him being a dangerous criminal just seemed absurd to you.
“Besides it’s a dumb idea”, he continued. “It would be a fake relationship and no one in their right mind would agree to that.” He let out a dry laugh. “Only a Gryffindor can think of something like that.”
In that moment, your eyes met. Never before did you notice the unusual colors in them like you did now. The piercing grey reminded you of storm clouds on an autumns day. Yeah, a fake relationship. Who in their right mind would … Unless …
The sudden thought that appeared in your mind made you flinch. He seemed to be thinking the same when he quickly broke the eye contact, straightening up and staring over at the field.
You got up in a rush, swinging your back over your shoulder. To your big relief, Ginny and your friends had just entered the Quidditch field. Their laughter echoed through the whole area.
„I should go. There’s Ginny.”
He nodded. “Right.”
“Thanks for the shoe.” Could this situation be any more awkward?! You doubted it. Hastily you turned around and almost stumbled over your own feet when you made our way back to the stairs. Something else came suddenly to your mind.
“Oh, and Malfoy?”, you stopped. He didn’t turn to look at you but you knew he heard you by the way he slightly moved his head. “I know a lot of fucked up stuff happened and pureblood families are the worst but … but don’t spend the rest of the year sitting here alone. I bet that there are still quite a few of your Slytherin friends that want to spend time with you.”
There was nothing you expected him to say in response to that so it surprised you when he suddenly said your name. “Y/L/N?”
“Yes?”
“Get over Weasley. It’s beneath you.”
You were glad he didn’t see the big grin on your face.
 ***
Ginny was surprised to see you coming down the stairs and running across the field. She wondered what you did up there and frowned when he saw a guy sitting there with the all too familiar white-blond hair.
“Is that Malfoy up there? Were you talking to him?”, she wanted to know when you finally reached the group.
“Oh, um,” you stuttered. “We ran into each other.
Ginny squinted her eyes. “Right”, she doubted. “How did you –”
Bang! You let out a short scream at the sudden noise.
“Sorry!” Someone shouted and a very distressed looking Seamus Finnigan appeared behind dark smoke.
“What the hell did you do?” Ginny squeaked and with that she forgot all about Malfoy.
You looked back up to where he was sitting just a minute ago. He was gone now. A weird feeling was left inside of you after the rather unusual conversation you had with the Slytherin. You shook your head, trying to get rid of it and turned your full attention back to your friends.
I hope you like it! I’d love to hear what you thought about it! <3
Summary:  Following his confrontation with Voldemort, Harry returns from King’s Cross Station completely changed. He wakes up at Privet Drive with no memory of his past, the war or magic. Petunia, widowed and suffering from empty nest syndrome, is only too happy to turn Harry into Dudley 2.0.
But something’s not quite right. Plagued by recurring nightmares, Harry can’t help but feel something is missing. A bottle of his cousin’s LSD helps him to forget his worries… Magic may not be real, but the hallucinations and the hot blond he meets all feel pretty magical to Harry.
Having turned his back on his family, Draco is determined to start over and do the right thing. But he’s never made good decisions when it comes to Harry Potter. When Potter—presumed dead, but very much alive—unexpectedly returns, Draco will do anything for a second chance. Even if it means pretending not to know who he is…
Excerpt:
Draco leaned forward and brought his hand up to Harry’s forehead. He gently massaged circles into Harry’s brow, and Harry smiled.
“That’s better. This is probably going to sound strange, but I feel different when I’m with you.” Harry pulled back and fished a pack of cigarettes from his pocket. He lit one, then inhaled deeply and let the smoke waft from his mouth. “It started the moment I first saw you. It’s like, the past few months, nothing concrete has come back to me. There have been a few flashes, but they’ve all proven false. But with you”—he took another drag—“it’s hard to describe the feeling, but you feel familiar. It’s like when you know the word for something, and it’s on the tip of your tongue, but you just can’t remember it. Are you sure we weren’t friends?”
Draco bit his lip. “I meant it when I said we’ve never been friends.”
Harry passed Draco the cigarette, and he inhaled deeply, the smoke calming his nerves. They were getting too close to the truth.
“Then maybe you remind me of someone I knew. Perhaps someone I cared for.”
“Or maybe someone you hated with a passion.”
Harry snorted and reclaimed the cigarette. “That makes no sense. Why fixate on someone you hate?”
Draco shrugged. “Sometimes life makes no sense.”
“Until it does.” Harry gazed into Draco’s eyes dreamily, and Draco could feel his ears go pink.
Tumblr media
1949.
The rumours of his possible return were fading with time, but hopes were not falling.
Nearly four years had passed since the end of the Second World War, and the consequences were soon felt worldwide, especially by those who had survived that tragic period. You had been present from start to finish, being a potent participant in the covert operations linking the US and the UK. Although you had not been on the front line fighting as a soldier, you had been on the front line commanding the actions they would take. In 1939 you became a member of the British Royal Military, then a recommendation from a superior officer led to you joining the Special Operations Executive, a British spy agency, changing your destiny, causing MI5 to contact you, and then you were seconded to the Strategic Scientific Reserve, a top-secret Allied war agency during World War II, created by President Roosevelt. Too many things happened in a single year, too many things that would change the course of your history, but the most important was yet to happen.
In 1943 you were assigned to Colonel Chester Phillips' training base, known as Camp Lehigh, where you were assigned to supervise the candidate division of Project Renaissance, the project that changed everything. Project Renaissance was a highly secret project run by the United States Government. Its aim was to create super soldiers to be deployed during World War II against the Axis powers, thus having a great advantage in strategic warfare, however things didn't go as planned and they only had one success, a young man from Brooklyn named Steve Rogers.
You could never deny that you didn't notice him the first moment you saw him, he instantly caught your attention in two ways. The first of them was his physical shape, he stood out for his small stature compared to the other cadets, and his physical appearance looked sickly, although his medical record didn't say anything about it. On the other hand, the other aspect that impressed and inspired you was his courage and endurance to face each of the tests they had to pass, as well as his cunning, all of which won you over, as well as the generals of the project, as he was selected for the Renaissance project. The time you spent together at Camp Leigh made you realise the determination and humility he possessed, traits that the other members of the group, or any other man you had met before, possessed only to a slight degree.
The day the experiment was carried out, that is, the injection of the Super Soldier serum into Steve was another turning point in your life, the young man who went into that machine was not the same as the one who would come out of it, at least for everyone present, a human being went in and a super soldier came out, although for you he was still the same Steve Rogers with 30 centimetres more height and greater muscle mass. From then on he became the secret weapon that would overthrow Hitler, as the leader of the project, Dr. Erskine, was killed which meant that Steve was the only one of his kind.
You would have liked to have been able to say that your relationship was moving towards a more effective environment, but you were really living in a period of war, plus your character did not easily fit in with the word love, it never really did, or rather, you had never shown any interest in any man. You were rude, you had suffered enough harassment in your job, a job by and for men, to become insensitive in several cases. You were selective with your friends and also with the people you could trust, that's why every time you felt any affection for someone you stopped it, and that's what happened with Steve at the beginning.
Frankly, there were not too many moments to show your affection for each other, nor to enrich it, but every occasion that brought you together, there were certain feelings in the air that were never expressed in words. You encouraged him to be more than a lab rat or a fair hand for the soldiers at the front, you also helped him from your position with the missions, which after his triumph in rescuing the soldiers of the 107th infantry, were assigned to him. You complemented each other, you understood each other in many aspects that no one had ever understood, you had faith in him and he in you, that is why deep inside you were waiting for the day when the war would end to discover what it would be like to be able to dance with him without any worries around you, but it was not that simple.
As if the universe itself was mocking you, everything it had offered you was taken away in a breath. Even if you had never extrapolated it, your heart shrank every time he marched on a mission in enemy territory, you used to find yourself behind the controls of the base of operations that commanded his missions waiting for his voice or news from him to indicate what the situation was, but the last time what you saw was different. It was all a consequence of your attack on HYDRA HQ, you had worked out a strategy to take out their leader, the Red Skull, Steve was inside and you later came in with the assault guard and became part of the operation. Things had gone a little shaky during the operation, as the Red Skull managed to gain access to a ship and almost escaped from the place, but at that moment you appeared as if you were a breath of air together with Colonel Chester Phillips to offer him the last chance for Steve to finish him off and gain access to the inside of the ship that was about to escape, but not before sharing your first and last kiss. Every day you remember the last words you said to him in person "Go get him." before watching him jump into the plane and disappear into the snowy mountains.
After that, the ship became a direct path to death unbeknownst to you. A few hours later, from the command post, you managed to maintain a direct connection with the ship, specifically with Steve who was still inside it.
"Come in. This is Captain Rogers. Do you read me?" you all heard from the intercom.
"Steve, is that you? Are you alright?" your heart raced as it did every time he was away from you on a mission.
"Y/N! Schmidt's dead.
That brought a breath of relief that neither of you had experienced for a long time, you could see a little light at the end of the tunnel that was getting closer and closer to you, but what you heard next put the light out again.
"What about the plane?" you asked still worried about his situation.
"That's a little bit tougher to explain," Steve's words were choppy.
It really was complicated, the plane was loaded with explosive devices and was clearly headed for New York City, that meant there was only one possibility and you all knew what it was. You tried to talk him out of it, to find a new solution, but time was running out.
"Y/N, this is my choice," a lump formed in your throat at those words. "Y/N?"
"I'm here," you managed to say with watery eyes and a hand to your lips.
"I'm gonna need a rain check on that dance," you heard through the intercom, as a sharp gust of air rushed in between his words.
"Alright," you hid a soft sob. "A week, next Saturday, at the Stork Club."
"You got it," he said firmly, making it seem real that he was going to show up there on Saturday.
"Eight o'clock on the dot. Don't you dare be late. Understood?"
"You know, I still don't know how to dance," a wistful smile appeared on your face at his words.
"I'll show you how. Just be there," you said almost begging him.
"We'll have the band play somethin' slow," Steve picked up the pace of his words, "I'd hate to step on your...
That was the last time you heard his voice, the line connecting the intercom to Steve went static with a soft continuous noise, that's when the tears flowed freely down your cheeks.
"Steve? Steve? Steve?"
Of course, life puts us all to the test, we believe we need redemption for the acts committed in the past, that often makes us lose hope that better times will come.  Almost four years have passed since those last events, since you shared your first and last kiss with your Captain America, since you heard his last words and since you felt that thing called love. Now your life had been turned upside down, you had dreamed for too long of meeting him, of seeing his face again and not only through those war films, but your life went on and you couldn't keep yourself stuck thinking about him, that's why you had decided to leave the Strategic Scientific Reserve and go into a new project with Howard Stark, called S.H.I.E.L.D.
It was unusual for the month of January to have that warm morning out, although it was actually quite comforting as it had brightened up your day, and even when you got home you opted to start cooking to the rhythm of whatever song was playing on the radio, which was unusual for you. The open windows allowed the sun's rays to stream into the living room, offering that homely touch that the little house in the middle of a residential neighbourhood lacked. Due to your countless projects and missions in the SSR you had not been able to enjoy home life as much as you would have liked, although it was really your decision, that house was too quiet and too big for you alone, although the radio offered you the company you sometimes needed.
As if it were a special event you had brought out the table linen and arranged the table in the parlour to eat there for the first time, normally you used the table in the kitchen, for you did not waste too much time on your meals, but this day was a new beginning, a new year, a good time to work out new habits. You opted to open a bottle of wine, which had been a gift from your dear friend Howard Stark, and poured yourself a glass while you waited for the chicken to make its acquaintance in the oven. The rhythmic melody of Nat King Cole along with your glass of wine lifted spirits that hadn't been this high for some time.
"Love is all that I can give to you," you intoned as you walked around the kitchen.
The midday seemed to be going smoothly, until a crashing noise from the front door brought you to a screeching halt. "Ogh, Mrs. Foster," you said to yourself before taking a sip from your glass of wine to fill your spirits. Mrs Foster was the neighbour from across the street who was always knocking on your door whenever she could, hoping to whisper about the other neighbours and glean as much information about you as possible, the funny thing was that she always barged in at the most inopportune times.
"I'm coming!" you exclaimed, taking off your apron and placing it on the counter. "I'm there!"
When you reached the front door you took five seconds to exhale the air inside you, position your dress correctly, take another breath, roll your eyes and expose a wide grin before you very quickly lowered the door handle. We've been talking before about all the turning points that changed your life and shaped your destiny, okay, that was one of them, maybe the most important one of all, the one that set the rest of your life on track.
"Hello Mrs. Fos-!"
Your voice disappeared, your vocal cords seemed to break at that moment, your wide, false smile also vanished as if it had never been on your face, your eyes seemed to have no eyelids and your lungs ran out of air, leaving you breathless. What you saw when you opened that door was your whole life, every moment appeared in front of you as if it were a frame. They say that happens when you are about to die, but it happened to you when the person you had loved had returned from the dead and was prostrate before you. You couldn't tell whether your reaction was the most humane or what someone else would have done in your place because you had never met anyone who had. Soldiers sometimes took long months to return home after the war ended, but it had taken Steve almost four years to do so.
Perhaps there had been hundreds or thousands of times you had imagined that moment, and now you didn't know what to do, your limbs were stiff, you were grateful for it or you would have collapsed in those moments. You kept holding the doorknob tightly, while he stood there on your porch staring at you, not knowing what to do. They were the longest minutes of your whole life, or maybe they were only a few seconds, you didn't know how time worked in those moments, but that didn't matter, your emotions recovered when you looked into his eyes, those blue eyes that you had dreamed of so many nights and they were watery, that was the sign that told you that this was not a dream, it was real life.
The air opened again and passed through your lungs in the form of a gasp, you shared the wateriness of his eyes in yours and in a moment you were wrapped in his arms. You could feel him again, or rather you could feel him around you for the first time. His arms were around your back bringing your body closer to his.
"You're... here." you murmured against his chest almost afraid that your words would make him disappear again.
"I'm home," he whispered against your forehead before kissing it and pulling away to look at your face.
It really was him, you noticed the odd changed feature, as if the years had passed him by more quickly, but there was no doubt that it was Steve. He placed his hands on your cheeks cradling your face, that sensation made you close your eyes as you placed your hands on his. Gingerly, you felt his breath collide against you and the longing for his lips that had haunted you for so many years came to an end.
"I'm sorry," he whispered, leaning his forehead against yours.
"No, you're home," you murmured, taking his hand and bringing his palm to your lips.
The open windows of the living room let out the melody of the radio, as if it were one of those Hollywood feature films with its own soundtrack. For a few long minutes you stood there on the porch of your house, oblivious to everything around you, oblivious to curious stares or if the chicken was burning in the oven, there was nothing more relevant than the two of you.
After a few minutes without taking your eyes off each other you took his hand and went inside your home, there were no unnecessary questions, no comments that could break the moment, your gazes were pleased to observe each other and as if your thoughts were connected and the person in charge of playing the songs on the radio knew it, one of Steve's favourite songs began to play. Harry James' voice came into the room, giving you the moment you had wanted for four years in your case, but for Steve it had been many more.
“Never thought that you would be
Standing here so close to me
There's so much I feel that I should say
But words can wait until some other day”
His arm found position around your waist and your face found position on his chest. You listened to his heartbeat work to the rhythm of the melody, you could never have imagined ever feeling like this again, you would have made a pact with the devil on too many occasions to feel it. It was so unreal that you had to lift your face from his chest to look at his face again, to find out if it really was Steve in front of you, it was.
“Kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It’s been a long, long time
Haven't felt like this, my dear
Since I can't remember when
It’s been a long, long time”
Life had offered you a new opportunity to enjoy it together, and you were never going to miss it.
“You'll never know how many dreams
I've dreamed about you
Or just how empty they all seemed without you
So kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long, long time”
Raising You - Holland!Reader
Requested? Nah. 1,941 words TW: character deaths, swear words, nothing super bad
I was supposed to post this on Mother's Day, but it wasn't ready by then and I didn't know the direction of this story. But yeah. Here it is now. Enjoy.
* * * *
“I hate you!” You screamed. “Why do you always ruin things for me?! You’re no fun at all!” Tears were streaming down your face as you ran up the stairs to go to your room.
Tom followed you and said, “Tough luck, Y/N! I love you and whether you like it or not, I’ll always meddle in your life!”
“Go away!” You shouted, went into your room, and slammed the door. Tom furiously knocked on the door and let out a frustrated sigh when he heard you lock it.
He rubbed his face and went downstairs to cool off. He walked in the living room and saw a framed picture of both of you. He smiled at the sight and immediately went to grab the picture. “When did you grow up?” He asked himself quietly.
Things were different. His life was difficult. He no longer had parents and his brothers perished in a terrible accident. All he had left was you. He could’ve followed his dreams and took his talent to Hollywood, but life was cruel. He never got a chance to do that because his family mattered more to him than any film career.
Tom couldn’t remember a time when he had a decent break. To him, he was always working and on the go just to get by. But he knew that his parents would be proud of him for stepping up at being the best brother for you.
Tonight was just different.
He got a call from your school saying that you left prom with one of the douche-y dudes. It was just fitting that Harrison was with him, so he had some help in dealing with you.
“Haz, I’m really worried. She could be anywhere!” Tom said as he paced back and forth, clutching his phone.
“Mate, calm down. We’ll find her, alright?” Harrison said calmly. “Have you called her?”
“Yes, and she didn’t answer. I left 20 fucking voicemails, Haz! Fucking 20! Still no answer. I called her friends and they said they didn’t know where she went and obviously that’s bullshit! What if she was kidnapped? O-Or killed somewhere and she’s dead in a ditch in the middle of fucking nowhere??” Tom rambled, running a hand through his hair frustratedly.
Harrison looked at his worried best friend and only said three words, “Check your wallet.”
“What?” Tom stopped pacing to look at him. Harrison shrugged, “Check your wallet.”
“We have no time to shop online right now, Harrison.” Tom said through gritted teeth, but grabbed his wallet anyway. He opened his wallet and he still didn’t know what he was supposed to look for. As if reading his mind, Harrison added, “Check your credit card or debit card or whatever fucking card you have. Check your cash.”
Tom did what he was told and groaned in frustration, “Y/N took my credit card and she took the fake ID that I confiscated from her.”
Harrison nodded and pointed to the phone, “Call the bank and ask for your recent activity.”
Tom called the bank and asked what his recent activity was. They told him that he checked into a motel about three minutes ago and gave him the address. Tom has certainly never been there and it baffled him on how you wound up in a place like that. Tom thanked the bank and hung up.
“She’s at a motel.”
Just like that, the two best friends got in Tom’s car and drove to the motel. Tom was too nervous to drive, so Harrison drove instead. Tom was looking out his window to see where the motel was and they eventually found it. Harrison parked the car and they both got out.
They went to the person in charge and asked if they'd seen you. “She was wearing a prom dress and she’s with some guy who was probably wearing a tux.” Tom explained.
“Yeah, I know those two.”
“Where are they?” Harrison asked.
“Room 2A.” The man said.
“Okay. Can we please have your spare key for that room?” Tom asked. “It’s an emergency.”
“No, sorry.” The man replied and sipped his coffee. Harrison glanced behind the man and immediately saw the key for room 2A. He walked around the desk and grabbed the man from behind. “Tom, go!” Harrison shouted as the man tried to get out of his grip.
“What are you doing?!” Tom shrieked.
“GET THE FUCKING KEY.” Harrison nodded his head toward the key and Tom’s jaw dropped in realization. Tom quickly jumped on the desk and grabbed the key for the room. When he grabbed it, he ran outside; followed by Harrison.
“Return that key!” The man shouted.
Tom and Harrison went up the stairs and walked around until they found your room. They stood in front of the door and Tom whispered, “What now?”
“You go in there and just take her. I’ll be out here for back up.” Harrison whispered back and Tom nodded.
Tom knocked on the door and said ‘housekeeping’ in a high pitched voice. Harrison slapped his arm and mouthed “what the fuck”.
“It’s improv! I can’t just barge in like a freak. I’m an actor, Haz.” Tom defended quietly, earning an eye roll from his best mate.
“We’re busy!” A male voice said which enraged Tom.
“Alright. Now, I can barge in.” Tom said as he used the key to open the door. The chain was in the way, but he managed to break it by pushing the door open.
“Y/N!” Tom shouted.
“Tom! What are you doing here? How did you find me?!” You shrieked. Your hair was messy and your dress wasn’t as neat compared to when you left the house. The guy with you was just watching the whole scene go down.
“That doesn’t matter now. Get in the car!” He yelled.
You shook your head, “No! I’m staying here with Brad!”
“Over my dead fucking body, Y/N.” Tom said before he grabbed your wrist and dragged you outside. Brad intervened and grabbed your other hand, “Let go, man!”
Tom was stronger and he was able to pull you out of Brad’s grip and told Harrison to take you to the car and give the key back to the man downstairs. You and Harrison went to the car and Tom stayed to lecture Brad.
“Chill out, man. Nothing happened!” Brad exclaimed.
“Okay and what if something did happen, hmm? What if you got her pregnant? Can you pay for child support? Do you plan on marrying my sister in the future? Are you ready to take care of a fucking baby?! I DON’T THINK SO.” Tom said angrily.
“She’s 15 and she has a great life ahead of her! I’m not going to let some boy ruin that. If you look at her or even blink at her, I will end you, Brad.” Tom threatened before leaving.
Tom sighed and put the picture back. Harrison left when you got home and that’s when your screaming match with Tom started. He walked up to your room and knocked on the door.
“Go away!” You said.
“You know, saying that will only make me knock on the door again. Just let me in. Let’s talk this out.” Tom said softly. He waited for a few seconds and he heard you unlock the door. He smiled at himself and let himself in.
He stared at you as you lay in bed with red eyes and puffy cheeks. He went further in the room and closed the door behind him before sitting down on the foot of your bed.
"I'm sorry for what happened back there, but I was doing it for your own good. You'll thank me in the future." Tom said and you rolled your eyes.
"Don't roll your eyes at me, young lady." He gave you a pointed look. "I'm serious. I guarantee that if it happened, you'll regret giving it to someone who isn't special after all. So you're welcome, I saved your ass."
"You're not the boss of me. Don't you remember what it's like to be young?!"
"Yes, I am the boss of you and of course I remember what it was like to be young. It was five years ago when I was 19!" Tom raised his voice and stood up. He paced around your room to calm down. He didn't want to fight, but you were being stubborn.
He looked at you and put his hands on his hips. “I never got to truly explore or- or experiment with different things, alright? I was robbed of my youth because I have to step up. I’m the eldest so it’s my job to take care of you; all of you.”
“Do you know how shocking it was for me?!” Tom shrieked. “I never got to grieve properly because I had to be strong for you and Paddy and Sam and Harry. It was too much for me to handle, but I forced myself to push through because I had no choice but to move forward.”
“Sam and Harry had their youth taken away too because they had to help me. When they were your age, they worked and picked up a few side jobs just to help me pay the bills. We’re lucky that we get to keep this house because it was already paid for by mum and dad before they died.”
“I had to give up everything for all four of you and you have no idea what that’s like, Y/N!” Tom yelled. He was clearly frustrated and it dawned on you that he never released those pent up feelings and you just let him shout.
“Sam and Harry were there sometimes, but they were also too busy trying to make something of themselves. Most of the time, it was me! They were working and going to school for their future and I was at home with you and Paddy because both of you were still too young. All my friends were out partying, dating, going to university. Meanwhile, I’m at home too busy being your mum and dad and brother.” He cried out of frustration, causing you to cry too.
He sat down at the edge of your bed and wiped his tears as you stared at him., not bothering to wipe your tears. “Now three of our brothers are also gone and it’s fucked. They never got to reach the finish line of their dreams and goals.” He said quietly. Tom looked at you and gave you a tight-lipped smile, “I don’t want to fight anymore, okay? It’s just you and me now and we have to be a team. We should help each other, so before you do anything stupid ask yourself if it’ll put stress on me. If the answer is yes, then don’t do it. I don’t need more stress.”
You only nodded. He got up from your bed and said, “Good night.” Before he left your room, you walked up to him and gave him a hug, “Thank you for your sacrifices and I’m sorry for being a pain in the ass.”
He chuckled lightly and hugged back, “I’m sorry for being strict, but it’s all part of the parenting thing.”
“You’ll be a great dad.” You said softly before yawning. Tom’s heart melted when you said that. “You think so?” He asked.
“I know so.” You told him. He smiled and kissed the top of your head. It may be sad that five of your family members left both of you, but it was okay. You had each other and that’s all that matters.
The Seven Potters Plan Part 2 • R.L
Tumblr media
(Gif not mine)
Request: Nope, just wanted to torture myself with this idea :)
Summary: Read Part 1 here!
Warnings: canon character death, canon Deathly Hallows, cursing, death, grieving, mention of injury and blood, death eaters, Voldemort, just a lot of hurt/angst
Word Count: 1.4k
A.N: Implied that you’re Remus’ age, the two of you are married, why do I think of these things? I’m like 99% sure I made this gender neutral? But if I didn’t like let me know. I know this is angsty, but I hope you all enjoy. Love you all ❤️
EDIT: Like I said in the last part (ugh I hate saying that) this fic had to be broken up into two parts. The starts exactly where it leaves off in the last part.
****
When your feet finally touch the ground, you notice that Hermione looks like herself again.
“Did you see the one that went down?” Hermione pants. “You think it’s—“
“Dead?” Kingsley asks, eyeing you carefully. “What’d you hit it with?”
“I don’t know...” You answer truthfully. “It just...dropped.”
“Harry!” Hermione cries, her body being brought into a hug.
Instinctively you bring your wand up, pointing at the others.
It’s Remus, and you almost falter.
“First thing you said to me on our first date?” You demand, wand trained on his chest.
“Merlin, what are you wearing?” He replies calmly. “But in my defense you looked like you just rolled out of bed.”
“It’s him.” You sigh out in relief, putting your wand back into your pocket. “And to be fair, you asked me out on our first date at twelve in the morning. I did just roll out of bed.”
Remus steps closer to you, arms wrapping around you. Your face buries deep into the crook of his neck, the smell of sweat and a subtle hint of chocolate overwhelming your senses. You almost sob in relief.
“Somebody betrayed us!” Kingsley shouts. “They knew, they knew it was tonight!”
“So it seems.” Remus replies, you pull away from him, but continue to cling onto his hand like before. “But apparently they did not realize there would be seven Harrys.”
“A small comfort!” Kingsley snaps. “Who else is back?”
“Only Harry, Hagrid, George, and me.”
“Not Mad-Eye?” You question nervously. Dread starts to coil down your spine.
Remus shakes his head. “What happened to you?”
The night continues to drag on, everyone recounting their own tales of what happened. The absence of your father continues to wear on you so you pace, occasionally biting at your grimy nails.
But your father was the best Auror the Wizarding world has ever seen. He’s taken out crowds of Death Eaters with his eyes closed, you’ve seen it. One simple ride across the country wasn’t a big deal. You try your best to ignore the cold feeling deep within.
“I’m going to have to get back to Downing Street, I should have been there an hour ago.” Kingsley rises from his seat. “Let me know when they’re back.”
He makes his way towards you, a hand resting on your shoulder. “You did good today, kid.” He smiles.
“Don’t call me kid.” You mutter weakly, trying and failing to reciprocate his smile.
“Hey,” He lightly reassures. “it’s Alastor. He’s fine.”
After a silent nod he walks off into the darkness, Disapparating to his destination.
You continue to pace, feet dragging through the grass as Arthur, Molly, and Ginny come rushing out the house.
“Thank you,” Molly hugs Ron close to her. “for our sons.”
“Don’t be silly, Molly.” Tonks replies.
“How’s George?” Remus asks.
“What’s wrong with him?” Ron pipes up, pulling away from his mother.
“He’s lost—“
A thestral swoops down close to the ground, wings beating rapidly as it lands. Bill and Fleur drop down, looking unscathed.
“Bill! Thank Merlin, thank Merlin—“
Molly cries and goes in for a hug but Bill’s grim face makes her falter.
“Mad-Eye’s dead.”
And everything stops. You go rigid, the chill of your body becoming unbearable and your throat tightens.
Your fears had come true, losing another parent to this stupid war. Your mother had been killed by the Dark Lord himself, her lifeless eyes haunting you ever since.
And now they were both gone.
Tears prick the backs of your eyes, you stare at the redhead in disbelief.
“No.” You mutter, eyes wide and fearful. “No!”
Your knees feel weak and you feel yourself start to collapse. Arms circle underneath your armpits, desperate to keep you up.
“(Y/n), let’s—“
“You’re lying!” You shout, jabbing an accusatory finger at Bill. He winces. “Stop lying to me, where’s my father?” You struggle within your husband’s tight grasp.
“Fuck, Remus, let me go!” You try your best to rip yourself away from in, limbs thrashing in an attempt to hit him away. “I need to find him!”
Remus hushes you, forehead resting on the top of your head.
“He’s my dad, I can’t just—“ Your struggle relents, fists curling around the sleeves of Remus’ coat. “I can’t just leave him.”
“I’m sorry.” Remus whispers above you, his own voice breaking. “I’m sorry.”
“How?” You ask, looking up at Bill, roughly swallowing back tears.
“(Y/n)—“
“How!” You spit, anger once again coursing through your veins.
“We saw it.” Bill croaks, his eyes wet with tears. “It happened just after we broke out of the circle. Mad-Eye and Dung were close by us, they were heading North too. Voldemort—he can fly—went straight for them. Dung panicked, I heard him cry out, Mad-Eye tried to stop him, but he Disapparated. Voldemort’s curse hit Mad-Eye full in the face, he fell backward off his broom and—there was nothing we could do, nothing, we had half a dozen of them on our own tail—“ His voice breaks terribly.
“But you didn’t see him die!” You cry. “He just fell, he might be alive—!”
But Bill just shakes his head.
“He’s gone, (Y/n). Fleur and I saw it, how Dung left and the curse hit him—“
“I’ll kill him.” You mutter, thrashing again in Remus’ arms. “You hear that, Mundungus? I’ll kill you with my bare hands!” You scream up at the night sky. “I’ll fucking kill you, you coward!”
Trying your best to rip away from your husband, you resort to stomping on his feet and clawing at his hands.
It doesn’t work, sadly, Remus’ hold on you never wavers.
“C’mon, let’s go inside, love.” He pleads softly.
In a snap, the fight flees from your body and tears start to fall as you practically go limp in his arms. All you can manage is a weak nod.
You feel the burning stares and hear the faint cries of your friends, but you don’t dare lift your head up from its position buried in Remus’ shirt. He slowly leads you inside, carefully, in case your knees really do give out.
The Burrow is quiet. Clocks tick, George lets out faint whimpers from his sprawled out position on the sofa, and the floorboards creak under your weight, but other than that, it’s quiet.
There’s a dimly lit sitting room on the other side of the bottom floor, and Remus carefully drops the two of you onto the fraying cushions.
You curl up into him, fists tightly clenching his lapels, face buried into his chest. Finally, you open the floodgates, tears staining his shirt in rapid succession, broken wails ripping from your throat.
Fists lightly pound against his chest in frustration.
Remus keeps a hand on the small of your back, rubbing soothing circles over your jacket.
“It’s not fair!” You cry. “It’s not fair! He deserved to live!”
You don’t know how long you sob into Remus, but Bill eventually edges his way into the room.
“His body’s gone.” He states softly, afraid of your reaction.
You head snaps up to him. “Gone? What the bloody hell is that supposed to mean?”
“Death Eaters, probably.” Bill sighs, stuffing his hands into pockets. “Got to him before we could—“
“Well get him back!” You shout, jumping up from the sofa. Remus follows, holding you back in case you decide to make a break for Bill.
“Who knows where his body may be now, (Y/n)—“
“Well it should be in Plockton with my mum overlooking the Loch!” You seethe. “Find him, alright? You couldn’t save him then, so save him now!”
Bill’s blue eyes flash with hurt, and he takes a step back.
“Right then.” Bill mutters, stepping out into the hallway. “I’ll leave you be, then. I’m sorry.”
“It’s not Bill’s fault, love.” Remus pulls you to his chest, and though you struggle at first, you eventually succumb to the hold. “It’s more than alright to grieve, but this isn’t Bill’s fault. You want someone to blame, blame Voldemort, yeah?”
“I’m sorry.” You mutter. “I’m sorry, I just want him back. It hurts so much, Rem.”
“I wish I could help you, love.” He murmurs into your hairline. “Wish I could just take the pain away.”
“Just holding me helps.” You sniffle.
You listen to his heartbeat and he squeezes you a little tighter.
“I can do that, love. I can do that.”
Baseball players were obnoxious. They were loud and over the top in everything that they did. They were the only team at school that actually won anything, so they thought that they were the absolute best, and they would rub that in anyone’s face whenever they got the chance.
The part that made you hate them the most, however, was the fact that every single one of them is attractive. They were hot and they all knew it. This wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t flaunt themselves and watch all the girls fall to their knees for them.
Well, mostly all the girls. You wouldn’t be caught dead with any of the baseball players. You made that abundantly clear every chance that you got, and most of them seemed to understand.
Actually, all of them understood except for one. The one you hated the most. The captain of the baseball team, the best looking one of all, Harry Styles.
He was as egotistical and narcissistic as they come. He watched girls fawn over him and made it into a joke. He would see how far he could string them along before breaking it off, only to see them fall apart.
He was a dick and you could not stand to even be in the same room as him. You rolled your eyes every time that he looked in your direction and you ignored him every time that he tried to talk to you.
Until the day that the worst thing that could have ever happened in Chemistry class unfolded.
It was the beginning of the second semester, which meant that everyone got a new lab partner. To everyone in the class, it made absolutely no sense, but Mrs. Madison was always going on and on about the fact that the class needed to make new friends and branch out more, Which, apparently, she thought would be accomplished by making you work with a random person for an hour every day while doing labs in the absolute worst subject in school.
Every attempt to complain about the changes, however, were completely futile. She didn’t have a single care in the world for the wants of her class, she just did what she wanted.
Which was apparently making your life a living hell.
She went through the roster, randomly assigning partners until she got to your name.
“Y/N Y/L/N and Harry Styles.” You tried your best to hide the grimace that had etched its way onto your features and the groan of frustration that was fighting to come out.You had looked over at him, hoping that he would complain and she would change partners, seeing as she had always had a soft spot for Harry, but to no avail. He had a wide grin on his face, as if hearing that sentence had made his week.
And so it started, the hour every day that would rarely be spent working, but more so to get to know one another better. At first, it had been him trying to get to know you better, but eventually, you had loosened up, had realized that if you were going to be stuck with him, then you might as well be civil.
“Come on, Y/N, just tell me something about you.” He had whined.
“What do you wanna know, Styles?” You could tell by the look in his eyes that you had caught him off guard. He had thought that he would have to work harder to get you to tell him something.
“Anything, anything at all.” He looked genuinely interested and you couldn't help but shake the feeling that maybe you were wrong about him. But that was absurd, right?
“I like photography and I write sometimes.” You had mumbled, hoping that he wouldn’t hear. Of course, he did hear it, every single word of it.
But he didn’t make fun of you like you had thought he would, he had just softly smiled at you, mumbled a “thanks” and then continued with the lab.
Weeks passed and every class period was getting easier and easier to attend, until one day, you found yourself actually looking forward to the class. You were absolutely perplexed. Who in their right minds actually looked forward to chemistry? You couldn’t fathom why your attitude had suddenly shifted. That is, until you walked into the classroom and saw him sitting there.
Who would’ve thought? Harry Styles was the reason that you were excited to come to chemistry. It had taken him mere weeks to tear down the walls that you had worked so hard to keep up.
It was like he hadn’t even tried. He had just been nice. And for the first time ever, you didn’t think that he had been doing it to use you. He had been genuinely nice and you had fallen for it. You had become just like every other girl in the school.
You had fallen for the boy with the pretty green eyes. It wasn't like you had just taken one look at him and fallen, though. That’s where you were different. It had taken you weeks. But it still happened nonetheless. He still ended up with you wrapped around his finger.
‘Now it’s just a matter of time before he uses it against me,’ you had thought to yourself before taking your seat next to him.
It had been two years since that day. You were now seniors and he had yet to use it against you. In fact, he had fallen for you before you had fallen for him and he was ecstatic when he found out that you had feelings for him.
He had been the perfect boyfriend for two years and counting. You couldn’t have asked for anything more.
Everyone thought he was the absolute perfect man, and really, he was. There was only one thing about him that you could ever complain about, and honestly, you couldn’t even call it a flaw.
Harry just had the tendency to get jealous. Of course, he trusted you. It’s just that he didn’t trust everyone else.
And that’s the exact reason that you’re in the situation with Harry that you are.
“Why him? You could’ve cheated with anyone, why’d you pick him?” He runs a shaking hand through his unruly curls that were still drenched with sweat. “You know how I feel about that piece of shit.” He stops for a moment, looking you in the eyes, and you can see the anger burning behind the jade irises. “That’s why you did it, isn’t it?” He accuses.
“Harry, for fuck’s sake. I didn’t cheat on you!” You throw your hands up in the air, frustrated by the fact that he won’t listen to you and hurt because he thinks you would actually do such a thing. “Why would I cheat on you? especially with him?”
“I don’t know!” He yells, not being able to contain it any longer. “Everyone fucking warned me, don’t get too attached to someone, you’ll get your heart broken.” He looks in your direction, but you can tell that he’s not actually looking at you. “What they never told me, though, is that I would fall so in love with someone only for them to rip my heart out of my chest and beat it repeatedly with a sledgehammer.” He’s back to pacing around the room, looking everywhere but you. “I told them all, ‘no, it’ll be fine. I love her. She loves me. We’ll be alright. That won’t happen.’ But maybe I was wrong. Maybe they had a point.”
“Will you please let me explain myself, H?” You try, wanting to get him to see the truth in the situation and not what he wants to see just because he hates Malachi. “Just let me tell you what happened and then we can talk, please.” You beg him. All you need is a few seconds and everything can be fixed. You can cuddle up to your loving boyfriend and put everything behind you. Or maybe you can congratulate him on the fourth win of the season, leaving his team undefeated.
He doesn’t seem to hear your question, though, and he mumbles something. At first, your brain doesn’t register what’s been said, but then you process. It hits you like a train, and you’re speechless for a moment. Everything that had been floating around in your head left the moment that you realized how he was really feeling.
Apparently, you go without saying anything for too long, being completely shell-shocked and all, so he repeats himself, thinking that you couldn’t hear him the first time. “Am I not good enough?” He finally stops pacing, looking up at you, and for a second, you wish that you had never faced him. There are tears in his eyes, threatening to spill onto his blotchy cheeks. He looks absolutely disheveled and your heart breaks at the sight. This wasn’t the first time that you had discussed this with him.
Harry wasn’t the arrogant guy that he pretended to be at school. He was insecure and he doubted himself in everything that he did. The only thing that made him feel like he was enough for anybody was you, and he thought that you were trying to leave him for someone else.
“Harry, baby.” You say, walking over to him and trying to grab his hands. “Listen to me please.”
He pulls away and spits, “Don’t call me baby.” You know he doesn’t mean it, he just pushes everyone away when he gets like this. He’d rather be alone than think he’s burdening anybody.
You take a deep breath in, trying to force the tears in your eyes to stay there and not spill onto your face. This was about him, not you. You had no right to shift the focus onto yourself by letting the tears fall. Not that he would blame you, he would drop everything to make you feel better, which is why you couldn’t cry right now. It was your turn to make him feel better.
“Harry, listen.” You say, grabbing his hand. “You’re everything. I could never ask for anyone better.” There’s nothing but truth in your voice, and you hope that he can hear it.
“Then why do you want him?” He asks, no longer sounding hateful, just hurt. He pulls his hand out of your grasp and you can tell by the look in his eyes that he’s too far into his insecurities for you to fix this with a sentence or two.
“I don’t. Harry, I don’t. I want you. And that’s what I was trying to tell him when you walked over.” You take his hand in yours again, holding tighter than last time, not wanting him to pull away again. To your relief, he doesn’t. He just let’s you guide him to the bed. You sit down at the end and pull him to sit beside you.
Once he’s settled, you raise a hand to his hair and push it out of his eyes, knowing that he hates when his hair falls into his line of vision. “Yes, he asked me out. Yes, he told me that I should choose him.” he stiffens and you can feel the anger coming back to his body, so you quickly continue, “But I didn’t. I didn’t choose him, because he isn’t you,” you slide into his lap, placing one knee on the bed on each side of him, straddling him. You cup his face in your hands and continue, “and you are the only,” you lean in and give him a quick peck, “one,” you lean in again, “that,” another, “I’ll” your lips linger slightly longer this time, feeling his arms wrap around your waist and pull you closer, “ever,” you’re back to quick pecks, “want.”
You move your hands from his face, letting them slide down over his neck and come to a rest on his shoulders.
You lean your head down, letting your lips find purchase on the taut skin of his jaw, leaving wet kisses down to the dip of his collar bones. Between every kiss, you murmur a praise to him.
“You’re so handsome, baby.”
“You deserve the world.”
“You’re so good to me.”
“Love you so much.”
“Look so good in that uniform.”
“Such a good baseball player, wanna reward you.”
At the last one, he pulls back slightly, scanning your face, ensuring that you’re not only doing this because you were arguing. “You sure, baby? Don’t have to do anything just because you think I’m mad.” He runs a hand down your back, letting you know that it’s fine if you don’t want to. The action sends shivers throughout your body.
“Wanna show you how proud of you I am, how much I love you. Would you like that baby?” You ask, waiting for him to approve, not wanting to push him if he really doesn’t want you to do anything.
After a moment of consideration, he nods his head, “Please, love.”
Your lips find their way back to his, immediately locking into a kiss. It’s not like the ones that you usually share. It’s not rushed. There’s no teeth knocking against one another’s, there’s no fight for dominance. It’s smooth and soft, tongues gliding together and seamlessly allowing your mouths to mold.
After a moment, you move slightly, allowing your lips to fall in quick succession all around his face, kissing every feature that you adore beyond comparison. Every detail that he seems to hate about himself.
You let your lips land on the dimples that make your heart flutter, the crinkles by his eyes that make your tummy erupt in butterflies, the freckles that make you want to run your finger over them for hours on end. You kiss every inch of his face, because his face is the most perfect one that you had ever had the pleasure of seeing.
Once you’re satisfied that his face has been moved on enough, you move down to his neck, nipping and sucking marks into his skin. He groans when you place an open mouthed kiss on a particularly sensitive spot and you smirk into his skin.
Usually, you would pay special attention to that spot, but that was never really for him. Sure, it felt good to him, but you just really loved the groans that would fall from his lips. So, you would drag out the time you spent adoring that single spot.
Today, however, was all about his pleasure. And you know that he hates the teasing more than anything. He doesn’t need the foreplay, the kissing and sucking all over his body. All that he needs is to see you on your knees, looking up at him through your lashes.
So, as you move down his neck, you begin to unbutton his baseball jersey. Once the final button is undone, you push it off his shoulders and look at the man in front of you. How you got lucky enough to be with him, you’ll never know.
You begin to kiss down his chest, paying slight attention to the places that you know make him tick. You know that he doesn’t need it, but you also know that they make him feel good, and that’s all that you want to do, make him feel good.
You continue making your way across his chest, kissing and licking. When you get to his nipples, you let your tongue run over them for a moment. You let your teeth gently graze over the peak, and his body jolts into you.
“Baby, please.” He whimpers. You look up at him, giving him a look of mock innocence as you make your way to his other nipple. You repeat your actions before moving down his torso.
You stop once again at his butterfly tattoo, letting your tongue run along the lines of it. He lets out a choppy breath, and you know he’s putty in your hands. You’ve got him right where you want him.
You make your way lower, yet again stopping at his fern tattoos. As you run your tongue across them, pausing slightly every now and then to nip at his hips, his hands rake through your hair, gripping on to the strands like they’re his tethers to reality.
“Not gonna tease you today baby, is that okay?” You murmur against his hip, knowing that you not having your mouth exactly where he wants you to be is killing him.
“Yeah, that’s fine baby just please, need your mouth so bad.” He begs, and you have no choice but to give him what he wants. You pop the button on his baseball pants, pulling both them and his boxers down his legs. Your breath catches in your throat at the sight of him, red and leaking. It’s not like you’ve never seen him before, he’s just so pretty in every aspect, and it seems to catch you off guard every time.
“You sound so pretty when you beg for me, H.” You all but whimper, letting your mouth move further down as he kicks his pants completely off.
You settle comfortably on your knees in front of him. You let your hands come up to the top of his thigh, scratching your nails down the skin.
He hisses, and you take his moment of distraction to lick the pearl of precum that has settled at the tip of him.
Just this simple action has him bucking his hips and letting out a broken whimper. You can’t help but smile, knowing that you’re the reason that he’s reacting like that.
When you peer up at him and see him looking at you with pure adoration, you take him in your mouth, sucking at the tip before bobbing further down. The hand in your hair clenches, like he’s trying not to push your head down as far as you can go. Like he’s trying not to make you choke on him.
You pull off of him and revel in the whimper that escapes his mouth. “Do you want to fuck my face baby?”
He chokes out a groan, nodding his head slightly. You reach for his other hand, which had been clenched tightly in a fist by his side, and place it in your hair alongside the other one. He shoots you a wary glance that quickly dissipates as you say, “Then do it. Please, H.”
He lets out a light chuckle. “Who’s begging now?”
He doesn’t give you time to answer. He pushes back into your mouth, and you can’t help but moan. Him having you like this is one of your favorite sexual activities with him.He starts slow, easy. It’s always like this. He uses shallow thrusts to give you time to adjust to the experience.
Little by little, though, he pushes deeper. He can’t help it, really. You’re just so wet and warm. You feel like heaven to him.
You hollow your cheeks, slowly moving your tongue along the underside of him, feeling the veins running across the muscle.
“That’s it, baby, feel so good for me.” He groans, pushing your head down further, causing you to slightly choke, the tip of his cock hitting the back of your throat.
He pulls your head back, just as he does every single time, and asks, “Are you okay, lovie?”
Your heart swells, but you’re too impatient to dwell on it, you want him back down your throat. “I’m perfect. Now please, please let me make you feel good.” You stick your tongue back out and he places the tip of his dick on your muscle.
The only warning he gives you is a slight nod before he pushes back down your throat, immediately setting a brutal pace, hips snapping forward as he pulls your head towards his hips by your hair.
You can feel the ache beginning to settle in your jaw and the burn in the back of your throat. You know that you won’t be able to comfortably talk for the next few days, but it was always worth it.
“Look at you baby, taking me so well.” He groans, praising you.
The spit was pooling in your mouth, as it always does, and you know that sooner rather than later, you’ll be making an absolute mess of yourself.
He pushes all the way to the back of your throat, and you feel yourself gag, but you know that he won’t let up before he feels like it, so you push your gag reflex down and do your best to breathe through your nose.
“Yeah, baby. That’s it. Taking all of me like a good girl.” He brings his hand down to your throat, squeezing at it gently, just adding a little bit of pressure.
You moan around him, and that’s when the spit begins to fall, covering your chin. He smiles down at you, mumbling something about you being his messy little baby and continues to thrust into your mouth.
The only thing that you can taste is him, and you wouldn’t have it any other way. You can feel every vein, every ridge of his cock against your tongue. You can also feel the way that he’s twitching in your mouth, how every thrust is bringing him closer and closer to his end.
You hollow your cheeks around him and suck a little harder. You hear him groan from above you and his hips stutter.
He’s a lot closer than you thought he was.
You double your efforts, moving your head along with him, holding his cock all the way in your throat for longer than you had been, sucking a little harder on the tip when he pulls back.
He’s being unapologetically loud, moaning and groaning about how good you are for him, and you can’t help but be proud. You made him that way.
Seconds later, you can feel the first string of his release. He goes to apologize and pull out of your mouth, but you slightly shake your head and grab his thighs. You know how hot he thinks it is when you swallow.
You take everything he has to offer before swallowing every last drop. When you stand back up, you open your mouth and stick your tongue out, showing him that there’s nothing left.
He groans and pulls you closer, catching your lips in a heated kiss. This time, it’s complete teeth and tongue.
“Want me to make you feel as good as you made me feel, love?” He asks.You just shake your head. He looks offended, so you quickly elaborate. “I congratulated you for winning baby, that was a one way thing. Don’t need you to do anything for me, I’m okay.”
“You sure?” You smile at how persistent he is. He’s just as eager to please as you are.
“I’m sure.” He nods, dragging you onto the beg to cuddle with him.
“I’ll just pay you back another time, then.” He promises. You roll your eyes.
“It’s not something to pay back, H.”
“Fine then, I’ll give you head randomly just because I want to. Or maybe next time you do good on a test. Anytime really.” He chuckles.
“Alright, alright. Can we go to bed? I’m tired.” You whine. He just looks over at you and smiles, pulling you close and placing a kiss on your lips.
“Night, baby.”
“Night night.”
the unwritten truth
“Are you sure you want to do this?”
“You don't have to ask twice.”
“Fine then.” it sighs, “ Who are you going to sacrifice?”
“She was the Goddess of the Moon. Selene.”
. . . .
One year later..
“It's so sad the Goddess died after a year of torture. Plus, her husband sentenced her to prison.”
“Do you know what caused the Goddess to die at such a young age?”
“I heard rumours that she was cursed?"
“How could she die from being cursed? No one in the realm could hurt the royal family.”
“Ladies, it would be respectful if you didn't talk nonsense about your God and Goddess.”
The maids wince, terrified when Harry's advisor caught them gossiping in the kitchen. Feeling embarrassed, they quickly return to their work and praying he doesn't report them to the God.
“You're lucky that I won't report you to His Majesty,” he announces, “Go get to work.”
The all women nod as the advisor leaving them alone. While they get back to their work, Arion, the advisor, immediately goes to Harry who's in his study. When he arrives, he sees the door slightly ajar and knocks on it, walking in when the God allows him.
“Is there any good news, Your Majesty?" Arion asks after he bends down, looking at the distressed God behind his oak table.
“Is that creature still exist?” Harry hums, his eyes never leaving the old book in his hand.
“What creature, Your Majesty?”
Harry sighs, closes the book tiredly and put it on the table. "I saw an odd mark on Selene's neck, and it disappeared just before the cremation ceremony began. It was an ancient mark that belongs to mythical creatures, according to this book." he points at the book, "As far as I know, the mythical creatures vanished when Centauri attacked Sicily far centuries ago."
“So, you think Her Majesty's death has something to do with them?”
“I don't want to think like that, but that mark makes me uneasy." Harry scratches his temple, "They should be extinct, right?"
“I heard one rumour, Your Majesty." Arion starts, "When the chaos broke out, some of the survivors chose to negate their physical and returned to where they were born. And some of them had extraordinary power."
“If what you think is true, you have to find them. If there are humans who know its existence, they will know the truth about our realm.”  he adds, looking at Harry respectfully who's now listening to him carefully, “Whose mark is it?”
“Cerberus.”
“Belonged to the God of Dead,” Arion whispers, “Do you think it inherited its owner power?”
“I don't know, Arion.” Harry sighs, “But for sure, I have to find the truth.” . . . .
It never occurred to Ilitia that she would do such a thing like this the first time in her life, and she vowed to be last time too.
Right now, she was standing in the middle of a Parthenon, under the starry night of Corinth, eyes deadly looking at a figure that only she could see. A few meters in front of them, lay a woman on a stone table, looking beautiful and peaceful in her forever sleep. Looking at her dead granddaughter, she realised that she had travelled this far and didn't want her efforts to fail.
“It's my honour to able to see you again, Carmenta."
“It's been a long decade, is it?”
“I heard you were in Sicily,” its stepped closer, “What brought you here?”
“My granddaughter was killed by order of a Goddess–”
“How come?”
Ilitia bit her lips, not sure if she should tell the chronology. But if she refused, it wouldn't help her. Right then, she had to choose the right word.
“She was carrying the Goddess' husband child. Long story short, the Goddess found out and order her guards to killed my granddaughter.”
“She was impregnated by a God?” it raised its head, “You're not making it up, are you?”
“The Goddess couldn't conceive because of a curse, and her husband went down to Earth to find me. Instead, he met my darling Y/N and they fell in love. The God cheated behind his wife, yes, and.. they constantly having sexual intercourse until Y/N got pregnant." she starts, "We all do know that no God can impregnate a human. But, that was the fate."
“And when the Goddess find out about that, she was terrified that her husband would have an heir to the throne from someone else?” it continued Ilitia's story and was agreed by the woman.
“Is that the Centauri crown?”
“Yes.”
“How tragic.”
“Because of that, I came here to ask your help to bring my Y/N back because she doesn't deserve to die this way." Ilitia whispers, "I'll do anything for her, and help Centauri to have an heir to the throne. After all, the Goddess couldn't give an heir and my granddaughter has the right to find her happiness, even with a God."
“You know that the price isn't easy, do you? What do you prepare for this?”
“A life for a life.” Ilitia deadpanned, “It's a fair price to trade my granddaughter's life.”
“Are you sure you want to do this?”
“You don't have to ask twice.”
“Fine then.” it sighs, “ Who are you going to sacrifice?”
“The Goddess of the Moon. Selene."
. . . .
This is the second time Harry has visited this mountain peak, a place where used to be the hideout of previous Gods and Goddesses, the place believed to be the hideout of the mythical creaturesor even a born place. The mountain is very beautiful when the sun shines on Earth, but quite scary when the eerie silent echoed after the night sky appears.
The God doesn't know where to start, and this mission reminds him of his arrival to Syracuse nearly two years ago, making him remember his darling Y/N. He misses her so much, and it hurts his soul. If he knew where Y/N's grave was, at least he could visit her and loving on her even if he only could touch her tombstone.
“Mount Olympus feels quite different." Arion says next to him, his eyes stare at the endless mountain slope.
For this chance, Harry decided to bring Arion with him because he knows this mission isn't easy. And surely as his advisor, Arion can help him and give him advise since the man has studied mythical creatures.
“Cerberus is a dog. There's no way it stays on the top of a mountain, right? Too risky if humans see it." Harry mumbles, "If it only visible."
“Let's get down to the ground then, Your Majesty.”
Harry nods, and in a split second, he's setting foot in the valley. Then, they begin to explore, hoping to find any sign of Cerberus. The two of them always checked every cave or spot that could potentially be a possible residence for that giant creature.
It had taken them nearly four hours and the night had almost turned to dawn, but they had found nothing. Harry is quite desperate, and thinking they have come to the wrong place.
“Any luck?” Harry asks after Arion appeared in front of him, only for Harry get another disappointment when Arion shakes his head no.
“Did we come to the wrong place?”
“I'm– ”
In all of sudden, the air around them feels stifled and the wind feels hot even though the sun hasn't yet risen. Harry also realises that the grass they were trampling on was shrivelled at once. Something feels strange.
“It's strange..” Arion looking around, “Something happened.”
“Something comes,” Harry corrects him, “Something comes closer, still hiding from us.”
“Show yourself!” Harry shouts, “We came in peace! Just looking for something!”
The hot wind getting stronger and stronger, until a bolt of red lightning swooped down in front of him. Now, Harry can see clearly what appears before him. A giant three headed-dogs, its body glows slightly reddish. It has a serpent tail, along with snakes protruding from it back. Its glowing red eyes look annoyed at being disturbed. The Cerberus looks intimidating than he thought.
“Why are you looking for me, Your Majesty?” it smirks, showing it canines coating with saliva, “Why are you bothering me at my stay?”
“I apologies if I disturb your sleep,” Harry answers, “I didn't know that you were survived and hiding here.”
“We don't want humans to see me, do we?” it argues, “Even though I'm invisible.”
“Why didn't you go back to Centauri?”
“My master was dead, I couldn't go back without an owner. Besides, it's more peaceful here if I go back to your realm." it scoffs, "What do you want? The sun is almost rising, and I can't let anyone see me."
“My wife has died, and I saw your mark on her neck.” Harry points out his serpent tail, “Do you have anything to do with her death?”
“Your wife died? How unfortunate.” Cerberus mocks, “If someone is destined to die, then she must die.”
“I just want to know why you killed her, Cerberus.” Harry seethes, “You have no right to the life of a God or Goddess.”
“Despite her death lightened your burden, Your Majesty?” Cerberus arches its eyebrow, “And set you free? You should thank me, anyway.”
“I know you inherited your master's power but you can't kill her like that. She has nothing wrong against you.”
“Yet she has done sins and be cunning." Cerberus nods, "And now if I may ask you, how do you feel after your manipulative wife gone forever? As far as I know, a God and Goddess cannot be divorced if it's not death."
“Your Majesty, he knows too much.” Arion mutters under his breath, “Do you– ”
“Advisor, I didn't ask you to speak.” Cerberus growls then averts its gaze to Harry, “You once planned to do annulment but it couldn't be done because the court said a ruler must still have a wife.”
“How did you know?” Harry challenges, “Why did you know everything?”
“A bird told me," it stares boldly at him, "And I started to think, her death is something I can be proud of because she's the rightest person.”
Harry frowns. Something feels out of place with what it said and bothering him. And those question being thrown at him, he could easily answer them. Yet, he couldn't. After all, he still loves Selene even though he also hates her. Selene is his wife who was always there for him. Of course he was sad to know that the woman died in prison after she had been sick for a year.
“What did you mean with the rightest?”
“A year ago, someone came and beg me to help bring someone's life back. They're family, tho. This old woman said that her granddaughter died innocently and wanted her granddaughter to come back to her life. It was not an easy task and there must be a price to pay. When she mentioned the sacrifice, I was quite baffled that she prepared another life. Well, I didn't kill the sacrifice right away, I tortured them first by sucked their life slowly before the death calling their name."
“Selene was being sacrificed? Who dared to do that? Did you not aware that you overstepping our rules?!" Harry's voice boomed, angry at what he had just heard. How could someone risk Selene's life just to bring back a dead person?
“You let a human order you to kill a Goddess? Really?" he hisses, "How sick of that!"
“She was right, you're quite stupid too apparently." Cerberus rolls its eyes.
“Cerberus, I order– "
“You're just an advisor, and you're just a guest in my stay. I do not belong to the Centauri so I don't take orders from anyone." Cerberus cuts Arion off, "You think I'm stupid enough to do that for humans? Have you forgotten that only your people can see me?”
While Arion stares at Cerberus confused, Harry begins to think and digest every single word that came out from the creature from the beginning.
No way...
“Carmenta came to me to help her with Y/N, and she traded her granddaughter's life over your wife's.” . . . .
His heart is pounding like crazy, almost like about to burst through his ribcage. He cannot believe it, his darling Y/N is back to life. His Y/N is safe and sound. His Y/N is free from Selene's torture. It feels so long from the last time he saw her, he really missed her and couldn't wait to see her. There are millions of questions running through his head for him to ask Y/N and Ilitia.
How could?
How is she?
Did she miss him?
Will Ilitia allow him to meet her?
When Cerberus revealed the truth, he couldn't think straight. All he had in mind was Y/N, Y/N, and Y/N only. He had to find her as soon as possible. Despite he had to beg on his knees to Cerebus which made Arion widened his eyes; asking where the last time it met Ilitia was, it was worth it.
And now, here he is, in Corinth. His long wait ends in one of the cities on the seafront of Greece. Of course, Ilitia couldn't possibly stay in Syracuse anymore, she started fresh in Corinth with Y/N. With Arion went back to Centauri, Harry feels freer to get Y/N.
Well, his search for his true love isn't an easy thing. It's been two days and he hasn't found her yet and plans to rent a house longer if it takes a long time because it's impossible to go back and forth to Centauri. Whatever it takes, Harry has to find her.
“Why is it so hard to find you, Y/N?" he mutters while looking endless of Corinth's sea, "I miss you so much, do you miss me too?"
She's here, Your Majesty
Your happy ending
Your long wait
Harry was enjoying the sea breeze so much that he didn't realise he'd been daydreaming on the shore for too long. He already spent hours tiredly finding Y/N and it seems that his efforts should be even harder tomorrow.
When he decided to leave the beach and return to his rented house, he swears that his eyes are playing a trick on him. About twenty meters away from him, he sees the woman he was looking for is staring at the open sea in front of her, both hands on her dress pockets with her bare feet in the water.
She looks even more beautiful.
She looks healthy.
She looks perfect.
And finally, he finds her.
Without a second thought, Harry runs to her – afraid that she will vanish like when he saw her in his castle. He doesn't want to be late, and he doesn't want to lose her again.
When his body crashes on her and his strong arms wrapped around her body, Harry feels home.
He's too happy because it feels real, he shed tears of happiness when he feels her warm and alive body. Then, he breaks the hug and cupping her face with both his palms, adoring the beautiful face in front of him. Admiring the woman who's staring at his teary green eyes.
“It' you. You're here.” he sobs, “You're here with me. You're back. You're alive. You're safe.”
“I miss you so much and it hurts my soul.” he gently strokes her cheek, “How are you, my darling?”
Yet, what Y/N said to him make his smile fade away, “Who are you?” . . . .
“You know, when someone's life is being exchanged, the life does return. But, as pure life. So, your granddaughter's will start a fresh life. She won't remember anything, but the basic abilities like speaking, writing, reading, and so on won't be erased. So, you will have extra effort to help her adjust."
“I understand,” Ilitia nods “She was pregnant before. Will the baby come back too?”
Cerberus shakes its head, "No. If you want her baby to come back, you have to prepare one more God or Goddess life to trade because he has a God's blood running on him."
“How do you know her child is going to be a boy?”
“Mythical creatures always know, Carmenta.”
. . . . “Why did you do that, Ilitia?” Harry asks.
After the shock he got when Y/N admitted she didn't know him, Harry couldn't believe it at all. Yet, he let out a relief huff when Ilitia approached them and didn't look surprised at all, and invited Harry to talk at their house. And along the way, he stole a glance at Y/N who walked next to Ilitia, looking so confused yet curious about his presence.
“Honestly? I refused my innocent granddaughter to be killed your wife, Harry. She had done nothing wrong, but you and your wife.”
“Me?” Harry frowns, his eyes looking around for caution if Y/N hear them since Ilitia asked her to wait in her bedroom, “I have nothing to– ”
“Your ignorance, your selfishness. If you're smart enough, you could prevent this all.” Ilitia scowls, “You couldn't choose between her and Selene, and you didn't want to lose one of them. Sadly, your behaviour made you lose both of them. Also, your future child.”
“I know you resent me so much, Ilitia. But, I truly sorry for all this mess. What I feel towards her is real." he gives her apologetic look, "I just want to fix everything."
“Of course, that's why you came here all the way from Centauri.” Ilitia shrugs, “Besides, this is my way to make her happy and help my old home to have a better future.”
“Centauri is always be your home, Ilitia." he reassures her, "After all, Y/N will needs if she comes home with me.”
“How confident of you.” Ilitia chuckles, “If so, you have to start over as if you just know each other since she doesn't remember you. And win her heart if you have chosen your destiny.”
Harry nods as Ilitia gets up from her couch, calling Y/N to meet them both in the living room. While waiting for her, Harry starts to get nervous and his hand begin to sweat, too overwhelmed by the happiness. When Y/N appears in front of him, Ilitia who's standing behind her granddaughter smiling to the old yet new couple, "Mia cara, this Harry. Maybe you didn't remember him but you were so close with him, he just come home from his overseas trip.” and strokes Y/N arms lovingly, “Just introduce yourself as the beginning, he would understand.”
“I haven't introduced myself yet.” Harry offers his hand for Y/N to take, smiling fondly. “My name's Harry”
The girl smiles and shakes his hand softly, “Hi, Harry. I'm Y/N.”
Just like the first time.
