Ok.

So a little of my thoughts to this....

First of all. Yes Owens is sketchy. Super sketchy. There is some vibe that i only recently was able to see that is weird and terrifying to some degree.

I do doubt that he was working with Brenner (for long) in the past. He specifically mentioned that Brenner's methods are going against his principles. (Which makes him even more sketchy because why does he abandon them so easily?). So if they worked together Owens would have quit at some point, Brenner became the boss is HNL and the program was continued.

After the Events of S1 Owens is put in place at the Lab. He has different views and methods then brenner. But he also is a scientist that wants to gather information. He let's Will being hurt by the scientist with the burner to analyze the hive mind.

What is important to notice, regarding Owens connection with Henry, is that Owens is the one to bring up that he knew that Henry was responsible for the killings when he saw the photos. It wasn't brenner who brought that up but Owens. He knows about Henry prior to season 4. That's for sure!

Regarding Will being watched by the lab/been at the lab prior to S1:

Joyce started working at Melvalds 10 years prior to S1. Will was 2 back then. Jonathan six. Jonathan went to school while Will was likely watched by Lonnie. Lonnie as the christian homophobic he is would definitely seek help from someone who claims to fix sensitive artsy boys. Brenner is so heavily paralleled to conversion therapy that it might actually be a sub branch for his studies. Lonnie seeking out Brenner who studies Will. But Will might not have shown direct indications of having powers or his powers (much like Kalis) are to different from what he wants for his numbers that he is only included in a watch but not take List.

What is important to see:

When Suzie hacks the NINA Project there are a lot of time stamps and the HTML looks a lot like a digital archive. "Captures" are mentioned which I connect to Fotos, videos and scans (like Wills brain scan in S2).

The timestamps in there are between S1 and S2 and go beyond until after S2 (February 1985). It would perfectly fit that Owens was prepared to Nina Will.

But on the other hand. Why wouldn't they bring Will to a saver location. Like they were not allowed to get in contact with Hawkins but why did they risked being exposed? There is no need for them to stay at Lenora. If they wanted to get Will, Mike and Jonathan to savety they should have moved them to another location. Because they knew Sullivan was on to them. Owens new that he will try to find everything remotely incriminating to get to El. So his contact with the Byers at any point would have been incriminating. Also if you don't want them to contact Hawkins get them out of the proximity of phones. Amateurs.

We are told that it could be months until Els powers are back. And until then the three weren't allowed to make contact to Hawkins. What would have they done after spring break was over? They wouldn't have been able to control them at school. And where would they leave Mike?

If they suspect that El needs months to get her powers and Sullivan is on the tail it is the most logical option to move the byers + mike. To a Savehouse somewhere closer to either El or Hawkins.

But they didn't. Two officers were left. Both seemingly used to the boring protection routine. Both being heavily underarmed against a branch of the US Military.

Thinking about it, i kind of have doubts that Owens actually wanted to protect Will, Jonathan and Mike. If he did he did a pretty shitty job at it.

I just started with TEW2 and I am like 1h something in and in that savehouse... I saw your post with that Fandom: It doesnt make any sense... and wanted to ask how do you like the game? Is is worthy of the first? I found it pretty ... weird so far. thx

Personally I like the game. I’m not very far (I just reached CH4) because I don’t have time to play every day and I love to explore the world but so far it’s fun. The gifset was just how I fell like some part of the fandom reacted, I did not see much negativity around the game so far but some seemed very angry that former characters did not return. Besides, the first game did not make a lot of sense either if you didn’t dig around/thought about the stuff you found. It was just something I thought about was funny as I saw this cutscene but did not think that a lot of people would agree with the post/that the post would get so many notes in such a short time. /:
