DP x DC: The Most Dangerous Card Game

Ok so Danny has essentially claimed earth as his. And he is fully aware that there are constant threats to the planet. Now he can’t stop a threat that originates on earth (that’s something he’ll leave to the Justice league) but he can do something about outside threats. Doing some research on ancient spells, rituals, and artifacts, he cast a world wide barrier on the planet to protect it from hostile threats so they cannot enter. This will prevent another Pariah Dark incident. However, barriers like this come at a price. You see, there are two ways to make a barrier. Either make one powered up by your own energy and power (which would be constantly draining) or set up a barrier with rules. The way magic works is that nothing can be absolutely indestructible. It must have a weakness. The most powerful barriers weren’t the ones reinforced with layer after layer of protective charms and buffed up with power. Those could eventually be destroyed either by being overpowered, wearing them down, or by cutting off the original power source. No, the most powerful barriers were the ones with a deliberate weakness. A barrier indestructible except for one spot. A cage that can only be opened from the outside. Or that can only be passed with a key or by solving a riddle. So Danny chooses this type of barrier and does the necessary ritual and pours in enough power to make it. And he adds his condition for anyone to enter. 

Now the Justice league? Find out about the barrier when Trigon attempts to attack, they were preparing after he threatened what he would do once he got to earth. How he would destroy them. The Justice league tried to take the fight to him first but were utterly destroyed, so they retreated home to tend to their injuries, and fortify earth for one. Last. Stand. Only when Trigon makes his big entrance…he’s stopped.

The Justice league watch in awe as this thin see-through barrier with beautiful green swirls and speckled white lights like stars apears blocking Trigon and his army’s advance. The barrier looks so thin and fragile yet no matter how hard the warlord hits, none of his attacks can get through and neither can he damage said barrier. That’s when Constantine and Zatanna recognizes what this barrier is. Something only a powerful entity could create. For a moment, the league is filled with hope that Trigon can’t get through yet Constantine also explains that it’s not impenetrable. And clearly Trigon knows this too for he calls out a challenge. 

And that’s when, in a flash of light, a tiny glowing teenager appears. He looked absolutly minuscule compared to Trigon and yet practically glowed with power (this isn’t a King Danny AU though).

And that is when the conditions for passing the barrier are revealed. And the Justice realize that the only thing stopping Trigon and his army from decimating earth. The only way he can get through….is by beating this glowing teenager in a card game. 

Not just any card game though. The most convoluted game Sam, Danny, and Tucker invented themselves. It’s like the infinite realms version of magic the gathering, combined with Pokémon, and chess. And Danny is the master. So sit down Trigon and let’s play.

After Danny wins, this happens a few more times with outer word beings and possibly even demons attempting to invade earth, yet none have been able to beat the mysterious teenager in a card game. Constantine might even take a crack at it and try to figure out how to play. He’s really bad though. Every time this happens, the Justice league worry that this might be the time the teenager looses. Yet every time, he wins (even if only barely). 

Meanwhile, Danny, Sam, and Tucker have gotten addicted to the game and play it almost daily. Some teachers might seem them playing the game are are like ‘awww how cute’ not realizing this game is literally saving the world. Jazz is just happy they aren’t spending as much time on their screens playing Doomed.

so on the subject of the "Crowley is secretly Revaan/Laverne/Levin/please Twst give us his name" theory, I think my feelings are best summed up as "I don't really buy it, but it's funny". like, in all seriousness, I'm not opposed to it; I have enjoyed the writing in Twst so far and I'm willing to trust that whatever happens will, you know, make sense and not be terrible. but I'm just not really convinced by the current evidence! maybe that'll change once we learn more, we'll see!

suguru is plaguing my mind because imagine seeing him through the window of a cafe and being immediately enamoured by him.

you were just walking by and suddenly your vision became filled only by him; his fist timidly covering his mouth as his shoulders shook with laughter, beautiful purple eyes crinkled in joy and cheeks just a little pinker than the rest of his face. you declared him the prettiest man you’ve ever seen and decided that he will be living in your best dreams because even though the only thing separating you and him was a translucent wall, you still felt like he was unattainable.

you observed him bashfully while you hid your face behind your scarf, only keen eyes visible to the surroundings. and when you were in the middle of admiring his luscious raven hair, he suddenly caught your gaze, his wide smile dimming and his eyes locking in curiosity.

your first instinct was to act like you weren’t just standing in the middle of a pavement on a cold winter night staring at an angel through the window and just continue walking your way, but then he gave you a warm smile and you felt like you’ve gained your own wings. you tugged the scarf down to expose the rest of your face and smiled back at him, your cheeks heating up despite the stinging cold of the autumn.

his white-haired companion suddenly jolted into the picture, giving the stranger a confused look before turning his head in the same direction and staring at you, which caused you to shyly put your scarf up, glancing away momentarily. you wondered if you just disrupted a date and caused a problem, but your thoughts got interrupted by muffled cackling laughter that came from the cafe — you looked back at the pair again and saw the white-haired one laughing with his head thrown back and the raven-haired one giving him a murderous look before he abruptly stood up.

your heart was ready to burst out of your ribcage because what the hell he was coming out of the cafe, eyes squinting at the sudden wind hitting him in the face as he hurriedly skipped over to you. you felt yourself going through all the stages of panic as the stranger seemingly closed the distance between you two, purple eyes gazing down at you with softness so detectable you couldn’t take it.

“my friend,” he pointed behind your shoulder, causing you to look over there — the guy was waving at you excitedly, a wide smile on his lips so joyful you couldn’t help waving back. when you returned your gaze to the stranger in front of you, he continued, “told me that he’d buy all of us any drink we want if you give me your number instead of him.”

you giggled at his choice of words, pulling your scarf down to expose your cheeky smile, “what made him think he has a chance?”

pleasantly impressed by your question, thin brows raised and lazy smile stretching wider, he nodded his head, “right? so cocky, dunno where he gets it.”

you snickered with a shake of your head. you both stared at each other for a few more seconds before the stranger visibly shivered — a reminder that he was out in the cold in just a turtleneck sweater, waiting for your answer.

“so how about that free drink?”

you eagerly nodded, your beam matching his as he mouthed a “yes!” and his expression turned even cockier than his friend’s attitude as he looked over your shoulder and chuckled. you decided to see what was that about and quickly regretted it when you saw the white-haired stranger mouthing “traitor” with a disappointed glare, your beam faltering into an embarrassed smile before you felt someone’s hand on your shoulder.

“don’t mind him, he’s gonna bother you about it for a while but that’s just how he is.” he assured you gently as he guided you towards the cafe. “i’m suguru, by the way.”

years later you’d thank satoru for setting up a great first date for you and suguru, despite how much he’d deny it and believe that you were staring at him rather than suguru and just wanted a free drink.

so he follows him as he's deployed on a mission near the ocean and is smitten when he sees how ruthless and capable he is; bathing himself in his enemies blood. he keeps his distance, not wanting to tempt fate but ghost spies the tip of his fin cutting through the water

and he's nothing if not an opportunist; kicking the bodies off the pier to the waiting jaws below

but soap? all he sees is the first step in a courting ritual

and he has to come up with something truly brilliant to match such a glorious offering

on ghost's part, it's been difficult getting people to understand the depths of his dependence on his mask. price thinks it's something to overcome, gaz and other soldiers just think it's an accessory to help with intimidation

the few partners he's tried to have thought he was someone to "fix"; nothing more than an object, a notch on their belt to prove how "good" of a partner they were to put in so much work to make him better. it always leaves him feeling violated, more so than if they'd just taken his mask off outright. one night stands were hardly worth it either; scratching a physical itch but falling so short of the intimacy and connection he craves that he feels worse off than he'd started

when he finally meets the mer that's been hunting him across the country, sees the bright red mask so artfully hewn and attached to his face?
