If you’re desperate for food

This works particularly well if you’re at a mall like setting. I’m sorting this by location

Starbucks:

Starbucks cup sizes are weird, so as a reminder:

XS=Short

S=Tall

M=Grande

L=Venti

XL=Trenta (this is the cup you’d most likely be charged for)

If you need water, it’s usually given for free, if you get charged, it will be 30 cents (US)

If you need a caffeine boost, ask to sample their coffee. Ask for a small cup as well if you plan to mix anything into it, pour your sample into the bigger cup. Lighter roasts have more caffeine.

If you need carbohydrates you can ask for an empty cup. There’s usually half and half milk, and sugar available to customers.

If you need fats ask for a pupuccino. They’re a small cup of whipped cream people usually give to their dogs that baristas will usually give out for free. If you’re charged for one, it’s 50 cents (US)

Jamba juice

For protein you can get a plain protein booster for 25 cents (US) the soy booster has 25 grams of protein. It doesn’t taste great, and should be mixed with something to drink.

If you’re lucky enough to be by a jamba juice and Starbucks (or other coffee shop, a lot of them give coffee samples), I definitely reccomend mixing coffee and protein powder (the hot coffee makes it mix more thoroughly) if you’re at a Starbucks and plan to add milk, do it after mixing the powder and coffee.

Spring is right around the corner and natures bounty of colorful fruits and veggies will be flooding a farmers market near you. But what if you can’t afford an abundance of fruits and vegetables, want to remain healthy, but need to cut costs somewhere. Start an in-home garden! This master post of tips are apartment and inner city friendly. Some tips will require dirt, water and or rocks which mostly can be found anywhere. You will also need a container to grow food in. You can use old cans, the bottom part of a milk jug, egg cartons, old baskets etc. Get creative. You also need seeds. Basic plant seeds cost a little over $1 at most lawn and gardening stores, however if you want to cut costs more you can reuse leftover fruit and veggie scraps and regrow them.
