Here is a good post going into some of the issues with SAF (though if I may warn you, there is some sad stuff regarding animal death and cruelty), and I’d also recommend @is-the-fox-video-cute saveafox tag too, as they’ve covered quite a bit of the... interesting things SAF has done.

That's "Winn-Dixie" who's name was the inspiration for my "Finn-Dixie" pun of Finnegan and "Dixie-Do" fox's names. But really though...I now feel like I can't even hold onto fun recollections I have of SaveAFox's Finn-Dixie content, just as much as I feel shame for liking a lot of the sets in "Bill Cosby: Himself," or the movie "Rango (as Johnny Depp was the voice of Rango)..."

There would be a fairly good case against them for it in all fairness. The unsanitary conditions and free handling wildlife alone could be grounds for a visit from CPS. The ethics of pursuing legal protection for that toddler would be at best dubious but in an ideal situation it would just mean relocating the wild animals to a separate property and increasing hygiene protocols. Though if the baby actually contracts a dangerous disease or parasite, the state very much could rule she and her husband unfit as parents and take the child. I don’t like mikayla, she’s an animal hoarding and abusing PoS who needs to have her animals seized, but I’m not really going to support having a baby taken from its parents unless absolutely necessary.

fully agree with everything here except one thing.

DO NOT DONATE TO SAVEAFOX. THEY ARE KNOWN TO EXTREMELY CRUEL AND PURCHASE FROM UNETHICAL FUR FARMS. they support the exotic pet trade and own a pet fox. they also own fishercats, which are illegal.

they keep the foxes in very inadequetely sized enclosures and continue to regularly go out and purchase more. not save, not rescue, purchase.

saveafox is a horrible, cruel, and god fucking awful organization that i wish would stop pretending its good.

There is a growing problem in the alterhuman community with many people, but especially younger kids, buying tails from cruel fur farms.

     Amazon, SHEIN, AliExpress, and Temu are the three biggest sites that people purchase tails from. Every tail sold on these websites is sourced from cruel fur farms where foxes and other animals are subjected to horrific ab*se.

     The tails sold on these websites may say “fake” or “faux fur”. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!!! Policies in China (where all of these shops are based) allow sellers to label real and unethical tails as faux fur or ethically sourced. The only tails safe to buy from these sites are POLYESTER STUFFED FURSUIT TAILS that look nothing like the tails you see many therians wearing.

The safest way to buy a tail that looks like the kind of tails you see many therians wearing is Etsy. There are three main options that I recommend.

1. Yarn tails, you can buy them from Etsy or watch a tutorial to make your own with yarn. They’re fluffy and they’ve got a nice weight that makes them feel real.

2. Faux fur or Mohair tails are also available on Etsy, you can commission them from sellers like TalesofMischief. Mohair tails look almost exactly like real ones, and Mohair is made from the hair of the Angora goat. It is not cruel because it’s just sheared from the goats.

3. Real tails, you can find many ethical ones on Etsy, but DO YOUR RESEARCH!! To find sellers and check if they’re ethical or not, you can search “fox tail taxidermy” on Etsy and click on the description of the individual sellers. Look for “wild foxes” and “foraged taxidermy”. Avoid any shops that say “farm raised”. The seller should find the foxes already d3@d, without k*lling them for the tail.

even if its filterable via the saveafox tag, sometimes it is just as easier for everyone else, for you to try and keep it tagged the with the warned content involved.

yes but it’s less easy for me because some people block #cw animal abuse, others block #animal harm tw, or #animal ab*se, #animal neglect, #animal endangerment, #animal cruelty cw, etc etc. and yes I have had people complain for not using every tag under the sun to catch whatever they prefer to use.

It just makes more sense for me to tag the specific subject of the discussion unless I’m speaking more broadly about animal abuse as a concept.

genuinely curious what's saveafox

it's a "fox rescue" that monetizes the abuse of foxes and promotes the ideas that theyre basically pets. like off the top of my head

1) has had multiple foxes die due to neglect or injury, the most notable being one that baked to death in the sun

2) allows foxes to interact with other animals like cats or dogs, keeps them housed in groups of 5-6 ish or more and allows them inside her house, which is reckless at best

3) "adopts them out to responsible homes" aka making money off of giving people pet foxes

4) is staunchly anti-fur but buys most of her foxes from fur farms, encouraging the trade. also i think being anti fur is stupid. she'll also buy foxes that should just be fucking euthanized because of the pain theyre in and make bank on donations for their care

5) paid an employee in fucking cat food

6) foxes arent a fucking conservation concern. end of sentence. fox conservation is a useless effort and it's obvious she just wants pet foxes

Just a heads up that saveafox is actually a scam organization (if you can even call it that) that is responsible for the abuse and deaths of multiple animals, and that’s only the ones we know of.

Every time I see more from this lady.... Starting with all her program animals being very young (less then a year old, more on the 6 or less months from my best guess) to now taking animals from the wild for no reason and ya know neglecting them.... I just... wow... I feel like she does need a nice visit from the DNR if this is what she is posting to the public. Seeing other things she has done it does not shock me if the has more then the snapping turtle and the fox that she has snatched from the wild.

I scrolled all the way back to the start of the SAF Instagram soooo I'm gonna be liveblogging what I found (I'm making a spreadsheet to track all the animals but I'll use this to document the stuff that won't be relevant to the spreadsheet)

So far I've discovered that she:

-Was considering buying a baby alligator for a while

-Froze baby mice alive to feed to her snakes (not a good way to euthanise them)

-Had generally poor reptile care, from what I can tell. I don't know much about snakes but I'm pretty sure they're supposed to have places to climb and more than one hide in their tank (please do correct me if I'm wrong!)
