Apparently all of my bloodborne saved data got corrupted and is now all gone. All of my characters and all of my saved presets are just fucking gone ❤️

Gdi... my gamecube memory cards won't allow me to move or copy the save data over to each other, and I don't know how to look up the problem because all the results are either about copying emulator data or transferring it onto the wii....
I don't think the issue is a lack of space because one of them has a bunch of space, and while the other is smaller it should have enough room for a file of some sort... I'm worried it's that they're too old or something corrupted on one of them even if the data itself seems fine...

Ok, just learned something new about tumblr video. They run some sort of error reduction algorithm to try and fix mildly corrupted data.
I learned this because i posted a datamoshed video snippet, that was trimmed, but otherwise straight from the mosher. Watching the preview on my phone shows it nicely glitching. Once i uploaded it to tumblr and it finished processing, the video instead froze image for the duration of the glitch, then continued on (instead of the videos blending).
This also confirms my suspicion that the app i use for datamoshing is saving out the corrupted video data in a stabilized package, and not rendering the result. So what i need to do is take the video to a different app to basically print it to pixels so that there isn’t garbage for tumblr to try and fix

Ugh the encounter rate cheat code is surprisingly finicky 😫 I'll have to be careful when using it
#gui plays pokemon hgss#for some reason saving and reloading the save corrupts the save file#but saving / turning the game off / turning the code off / reloading doesn't#thankfully the game backs up my previous save so no data ends up being lost but still i gotta be careful

I was Going to work on some more nugget stuff but then my game got all fucked up and I had to replace a file I hadn't even touched and now I'm having to replace all the equipment I lost by doing so which I don't technically have to do since I have to reason to keep my guys properly equipped since I beat the game already but I Want to and also if I don't I will inevitably forget what they're supposed to wear and then I'll cry and scream
#rat rambles#the file that corrupted was the one that stores story progression abno info and evidently what gear you have so I should count myself lucky#it was super easy to find someone else's 100% save to pluck that file from without damaging anything else#the hard part was finding out that it was that file that broke in the first place I was so scared it was my main save file since that was#what I was fucking with since I wanted to see if I could view dead nugget information in there#thankfully that file didnt break but I did still probably break the other file somehow by tinkering with the main save file#again thankfully everything is fine now but that has definitely made me remember how important backing up files is#anyways the good news is that I do believe dead nuggets are saved in the save file the bad news is I have No idea how to read the data#there sure are numbers that I sure can translate and not know what they mean#not that that's strictly necessary for me to be able to read the numbers since the names are mostly what matter but itd be nice to know#stuff like stats and appearance#oh also as a part of my panic I may have removed some mods that I need to re add now 😔#ah well. could be worse. Way worse.#to be fair it wouldn't completely be the end of the world if I had corrupted my save since Ive beaten the game already but it would have#been close and I would have been devastated and I would have cried hard. so cheers to me not having to do that 🎉#this is knox's fault I just wanted to know his stats since they died during the binah fight and I didnt feel like doing a memory repository#but all my other guys have their stats in my nugget doc now except for them and its been bugging me#should have been safer about trying to find it tho#anyways now that that scare is done time to back up my files this time and Then try to find knox stats

did my husband literally destroy my entire 2TB of data on my external hard drive that consists of hours and hours and hours of scouring the internet for obscure files and games and days of waiting for things to download due to low seeders and leechers all because he wanted to watch a stupid football game and didn't want to bother to safely eject the hard drive???
The answer is yes
#and now i've spent like $300 trying to recover this corrupted data and its all fucking gone#I'm TRYING to not be mad but OH MY GOD#Like at least I have a catalogue of my media so I know what to find again and redownload#but its so fucked that he destroys it and I'm the one who has to now spend hours and hour and hours tracking down the files again#and sifting through obscure fansites to find certain games and translations#not to mention all of the video game save files I had on that hard drive that are now gone forever#so also hours of gameplay#I literally want to cry

i used to stay up late, reading articles about missingno and bad egg on bulbapedia like they were creepypastas
#and to me they were. bad egg can corrupt your file and fill your save with bad eggs and ruin my beloved pokemon games#also missingno is literally corrupted data and it SHOWS UP AS A GHOST OR SKELETON.#which is terrifying and also pretty funny tbh#mumbles#☀️

oh yeah that’s sims 3. each sims game is broken in its own extremely funny way and sims 3 just is so unoptimised it turns supercomputers into ovens

#That’s not even fully a joke game taxes even modern powerful computers bc it’s held together by duct tape#sos sims 2 but in a the game is just a mess way#people used to have arcane rituals to avoid corruption bc the game just is such a mess of bugs people made their own traditions over it#and like it’s bc some of the stuff was just borked#like the delete all characters cheat it literally just right click deletes all character files which does actually cause some issues#so people did medieval era science and assumed a ton of stuff did the same when it didn’t bc they found stuff that Did#and assumed everything similar would break shit when it didn’t#investigation revealed most of those were somehow caused by EVEN MORE BAFFLING GLITCHES#where the game would just generate a ton of nonexistent sim data for no reason#so it turns out it’s even more bizarre which is hilarious#deleting sims is nbd but if your save goes wrong you can end up with sims that are also pets#also the game still corrupts itself for fun#that is part of why people started those rituals#the game would just corrupt itself by having vampires bite me crumplebottom at one point#which did break shit really badly
