I was woken by a float plane taking off and am now sitting next to the perfectly calm ocean listening to the waves gently lap the shore and watching tiny tiny birds forage for food. If I have to be up this early, this is a much lovelier way to do it than any of the other days this week! Lots of great adventures on the boat this summer all around the Salish Sea. We took her to Pender Island, Saturna Island, Decourcy Island, Salt Spring Island and all over Galiano Island. Attached to the back of Tantalus is a sweet little 9 foot tender that @yourpinata loves to row ashore from our anchorage and explore the nooks and crannies of the beaches and bays we're exploring. She's in great shape for a 30 year old dinghy but this winter she's getting a little love. The gunwale blew out this summer on a trip and oarlicks no longer mounts making rowing traditionally with two oars a major challenge. Meaghan is a proficient canoer however and invented her own strokes to accommodate. Anyway, yesterday I got her out of the water and up to my deck and under cover where I'm gonna restore her to pristine glory.... Remove the wood and fixtures, sand the bottom and paint it, rebuild the seats and small compartments... And get her back on the water. This is my first time doing this, I'm learning lots.
