tears that made lucy gray feel weak and pathetic uncontrollably stung her doe eyes and dripped down her tan cheeks swirled by heart wrenching emotions caused by his cruel treatment through the way he speaks to her. didn't seem anything like the person she remembered, he never talked to her like that before. throat swelling and tightening with bottom lip quivering at the way a new betrayal became arise in the way she studied how ugly he looked finding amusement in causing her pain. betrayal was only coming from his side, the real betrayal was HIM and she'll eventually blurt it once she numbs herself long enough and accept he's never had a heart.

she's gotta talk herself out of this and learn how to be strong, just like she always has. her entire life, since a young girl, was built on fearing through anything, was she really about to let this one person tear her to shreds now? even if he was on the brink of doing it, about to send her in a full break down and down spiral of tears and emotions. so lucy gray swallows her tears and starts with getting rid any hope she had for him.

only reason she made it out of the games, because this was probably his idea all along. she might've had some doubts before, but now refuses to believe he ever had an ounce of genuine care in his heart that's undoubtedly as cold and frozen as his eyes appear.

she will hope and pray every next breath she's granted, he will REAP what he sows. hopes one day someone will put him in a cage. hopes he will suffer a karma that he deserves when she's a strong believer in it, she'll do all the manifesting she can with no doubts in her mind the universe will prove in the end to be on her side. and if he kills her–– her next biggest fear to conquer here–– then there'd be a silver lining it. she'd be free of this cruel world and she'd come back to viciously haunt him. no matter when her time comes, she WILL come back to haunt him. and at least... she had gotten away for some time and got to enjoy a few years of it, that's peace she could make with herself.

that's the closures she forces herself to dwell on, cause if she don't toughen up, she can vividly tell he's going to have a field day with her. sadness begins to simmer into anger he's provoking in her by showing his amusement is making it easier to not waste another tear on. her mind continues to circulate more reasons to find the morbid positives in this twisted tragedy... maybe ESCAPE looks different this time, maybe it won't be on foot anymore. maybe it will just have to be coriolanus ending her life so her spirit could find what freedom really tastes like.

since she now realizes, freedom ain't all that time livin' out in the woods. freedom would be her soul set free & able to finally move on from this life that's no longer worth livin' to her anymore anyway. and if he don't kill her, then her ever ticking mind will find a way to leave this world. he's not the only calculative one. a performer, just like he said.

“I TOLD YOU,” lucy gray SUDDENLY scowled, lunging forward with a thud to clutch the bars when the blond took another step forward, it IS infuriating he's so twisted he can't see his flaws so the anger glowing in chocolate eyes isn't brought on by forced bravery, “trust meant EVERYTHING, it was even more important than love. you're the only one who has been doin' the lying. the real ACT is you, CORIOLANUS SNOW.” spitting his name with the venom of a rattlesnake. ironic how impure he was compared to such a beautiful thing like snow to be named it, unless one wanted to talk about the cons and how ISOLATING snow could be once you got too much of it. 'lot like her. she had enough of it. not just anger he was fueling inside her, but now accepting defeat was slowly allowing her to stop being afraid the more it consumed her.

“i was honest with you the entire time. then, you got some audacity to act offended an' clueless why i decided to take off from you... look at you.” repulsive is what he is. he's a walking talking artificial shell of a being, who walks on pride and sees none of the wrong he does. and what she sees... was her biggest mistake in saving. she should have LET him die. she was no natural born killer, but strangling him to death to make up for it seemed like it'd feel real satisfying right about now. might even let go of these bars and grab for his neck, since he wants to cage her up like an animal ... she should act like one. he's close enough, after all. it'd take a minute for anyone to unlock this cage to pry her hands off him, by that time she could have him gasping for air and maybe succeed.

“but i imagine talkin' to YOU, is like talkin' to that brick wall over there." her eyes flicker to it before back to him, warm deep irises burning through ice covered ones. so she won't waste many more words because it's evident, he will never understand in his delusional mind. could talk n' talk, til she was BLUE in the face and this man would never see his faults. another thing she has came to an acceptance with. “what? ... no roses this time?” the slow smirk that began to curl her lips began to fill her eyes, a jab at him, something SHE could find AMUSING now. the memory of him offering her one the first time they met. in her mind, that was just another one of his phony acts of trying to persuade her to lead her to this moment. and like she was insinuating with her jab–– must be true, since he wasn't offerin' any now. which definitely put all kinds of dry amusement on her face.

It was AMUSING to him to see her like this, back in a cage as equivalent as the day she was reaped and sent to the old Capitol zoo's monkey exhibit. He knew where she was then. Knew that if he had to see her, she'd be stuck in the same place like a wild fawn trapped for an enclosure. Counting the minutes to her demise.

If only they could go back and start over, he'd make her see the charming facade he constructed for eternity. He would not have flaws in her eyes. He would not be a killer masked in a handsome and elegant visage.

He contemplated what she must be thinking. Did she believe that he would string her up in the hanging tree like some trophy?

"I would not have to force my men to hunt you like DOGS if you did not pull that little act," His tone grew more impatient with her the longer she stood staring at him like some frightened doe. He could feel in his bones that she feared him and he was not sure if he should be grateful or displeased. "Always the performer, aren't you?"

The day she left him, he felt something in his heart shift. Perhaps he was heartbroken -- if he even cared for his songbird at all. He knew he craved her by his side, wanted to feel her touch once more, but he did not feel as he did oh so long ago. He would have killed for her. And now, he just may kill HER if she does not cooperate with his intentions.

"I can see the cogs turning in your mind. Does my presence frighten you?" His impatience shifted into amusement, his blue irises glittering with darkened satisfaction as he took another lazy step toward her confinement, "I can tell if you LIE, dear. Do NOT lie to me."

It started off innocent.

Just you and Tom in the background of a Behind The Scenes video where Rachel was currently talking about her character, Lucy Gray Baird.

You and Tom were fairly close in proximity—as you always were anyway—and you two were scrolling through your phones, showing each other funny videos or pictures of beautiful places that showed up on your feed.

That was until a message popped up from your ex, some jerk who had somehow gained a role in a movie and thought he was now some hotshot in the film industry.

“Oh seriously,” Tom mutters, watching as you tapped on the messages your ex had sent you. “He’s got to be kidding.”

Your ex had apparently “missed you greatly” and wanted to hang out so you two could catch up. He said he watched The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and was in awe of how well you acted. If he wasn’t such a toxic asshole when you two were dating, you would take it as a compliment.

“I don’t know where he has the nerve.” Tom says, giving you a disgusted look. “Like girl, please.”

“Girl please?” You say, giggling as your head fell back into his chest. “Baby, I didn’t know you said things like that.”

“There’s plenty of more where that came from,” he says, “Okay, I need to stop. What if someone on set thinks I’m crazy?”

“They already think you’re crazy.”

Tom rolls his eyes, shoving your shoulder back slightly. “You’re lucky you’re my girlfriend.”

“I think you’re more of the girlfriend in the relationship Tom,” you say, shrugging. You fail to hold in your laugh as you watch Tom’s expression turn into shock. “I’m kidding, thank you for being the best boyfriend I can ask for.”

He grumbles a sure whatever under his breath when you engulf him in a tight hug.

“You’re practically crushing my lungs.” He says a minute in, only to be responded with a roll of your eye. “But hey, I’m much better than that newbie actor ex of yours, right?”

“Is that even a question?” You say, pulling away. “He was just nonchalant and mean to me half of the time. Don’t know why I even dated him.”

Your phone goes off, another message coming from your ex. “Oh, he called you knock off Draco Malfoy, which by the way, isn’t even an insult because he doesn’t even come close to you or Draco Malfoy in terms of looks.”

Tom lets out an honest to God laugh at your commentary, shaking his head in amusement. “Yeah, but didn’t you have a huge crush on Malfoy as a kid?”

You pretend to think for a minute before nodding your head teasingly, “yeah, I guess things never change huh?”

“Okay stop, you know I’m a fake blonde.”

And the entire moment between you and Tom is captured on camera, sending your fans into a frenzy as they watched how cute you two were with each other.

Coriolanus Snow becomes a pretty rotten mf over the film but damn, Tom Blyth gave a beautiful performance. The emotional range was really nice to watch. Rachel Zegler is a little less showy and sassy than the Lucy Gray of my imagination but she holds up pretty well and does make you really feel for her. Hunter Schafer and Josh Rivera as Tigris and Sejanus are absolute perfection. No notes.

P.S.: Coriolanus attacking the other tributes with drones to save Lucy Gray and then saying “I’m just sending water” when he got called out on it absolutely sent me. Impeccable delivery.

District AU headcanon: The officers who were there from the beginning think it was funny how he was disapproving any of his children dating when he was obsessed with Lucy Gray, even sneaking her in the barracks for some alone time. But no one says this to him to his face because the last idiot who did that had latrine cleaning duty for six months.

I remember this story surfacing after there was a fanfic about Coriolanus sneaking her into the barracks for some alone time. Coriolanus wouldn’t sneak her into the barracks; that would be far too reckless for his liking. Too much could go wrong. If he wanted some alone time, the backstage rooms of the Hob would suffice, or even the meadow...or Lucy Gray's broom closet of a room where a little stomach bug was made.

Besides He’s not out to ruin his kids' love lives or fun; he’s out to ruin Clementine’s love life and fun because, even he can see it, she is like him and that’s the problem. Coriolanus always had one rule: "Be like me, before I met your mother." Clementine is not like academy Coriolanus; she is games and post-games Coriolanus. Reckless and a bit unpredictable, unlike her brother Janus. The next in line for that spot is Rosie, but Rosie likes collecting snakes, which is a problem for another day.

Clementine: why am I not allowed to seek out… company? Mama told me U where younger than me when you started seeing her

Coriolanus: exactly, it‘s when my problems started, I don’t complain about them tho even one is nagging me ever since

Clementine: ah yes the mystery problem and WHEN was that dear father of mine?

Coriolanus: dependends on… how old are u?

Clementine: …you’re a cruel man Coriolanus Snow… U know u love me dad!

Coriolanus: Yes, yes I do which is why I said NO

Clementine: …what about Janus!?

Coriolanus: what about him, Janus is not seeing anyone

Clementine: HE DOES!!

the tbosas tributes as x-men/mutants

my x-men brainrot makes me wanna merge my two fixations. very little people will get this, but i still put my heart and soul into this post, and i do not care TM.

do not take the x-men's actual relationships into account! just because two x-men are dating or siblings, doesn't mean that's what i interpret for the tbosas characters unless it's explicitly stated in the description!

context: the x-men are a superhero group formed by marvel, comprised of a special group of humans known as mutants. they have the x-gene, which grants them powers either at birth or during a stressful situation as the individual experiences puberty. they are a marginalized group (other superheroes don't undergo the regulations and criticism that they do) and began as a metaphor for discrimination in the 60s!

lucy gray as jean gray (power: telepathy and telekinesis)

i know it seems like i chose them because of their similar names, but hear me out! lucy gray has such a strong and almost telepathic hold on both panem and coriolanus snow, but they're also soft and loyal to the people they love. the last scene in dark phoenix (2019), where a "comet" flew over the sky and was implied to be jean, reminded me of lucy gray's mysterious ending.

marcus as magneto (power: magnetism manipulation)

the comparison that started it all. partners on the opposite sides of the war. (sejanus moving to the capitol / charles wanting to coexist with humans) is seen as a huge betrayal to (mutantkind / district kind) according to (magneto / marcus). magneto uses the helmet to block out charles' telepathy and undying love. marcus actively avoids talking to sejanus.

jessup as colossus (power: organic steel form)

both are large powerhouses that seem like physical threats at first glance (colossus is literally made up of steel), but actually have heart of gold. jessup has such big brother vibes and never brought harm to anyone with the only exception being lucy gray because of his rabies. he'd use his powers for good, and like colossus in deadpool, would have a no-kill policy <3

reaper as wolverine (power: retractable metal claws and regenerative healing)

two menacing characters with hardened exteriors and a "trust no-one" attitude. they also, apparently, are both istp. their softer side is reserved for the people they are loyal to. they're passionate about their fight and aren't afraid to die for their causes. i also don't want reaper to die TM so he gets regenerative healing to heal from the snakes/poisoned water. amen.

dill as shadowcat (power: intangibility)

book!dill seems to have the same teenage girlism that kitty pryde always radiates in the animated shows, especially in x-men: evolution. they're both sassy in a fun way, always ready to snap back at someone who isn't acting right... ahem, ahem... coriolanus snow. even while sick, she puts people in place. ill dill forever.

coral as mystique (power: shapeshifting)

both these characters are associated with the color blue, have red hair, like girls (mags as destiny? lol), and take initiative. coral rounded up a pack and went to town in the arena! mystique always stood on business no matter who she's up against. they both have this fierceness to them, have solid strategies, and know how to be a leader in their own way.

mizzen as mirage (creating illusions of opponent's fears)

the "m" in mizzen and mirage stands for "menace". in the "new mutants" and tbosas movie, both characters were unassuming and not seen as too much of a threat. people are quickly proven wrong. mirage proved herself to be an extremely powerful mutant in the facility while mizzen stood on business. they didn't play.

lamina as rogue (power: memory and power absorption through touch)

rogue is a gentle soul who laments about not being able to have physical contact with people. lamina... well, she was known for crying a lot. both are unassuming, yet resilient and fierce. lamina's natural empathy would also work really well with the power to absorb memories and skill sets. she'd use this power responsibly.

treech as nightcrawler (power: teleportation)

this power would've been so useful while he was running around the arena and stealing from others. people in the fandom mark him as some kind of performer thanks to his juggling, which is exactly what kurt was in the circus. I don't believe they're similar in terms of personality unless you look towards the x-men movie version of kurt, I just think they're swell.

brandy as magik (power: time travel via teleportation and sorcery)

based mostly on the "new mutants" movie, both characters are aggressive and aren't afraid to cause a little trouble with an authoritative figure. brandy with her mentor and the peacekeepers. illyana with dr. reyes... but she also beefed with the other mutants in the facility. lmao, she was always mad.

tanner as gambit (power: kinetic energy charging)

both are from the south with a bit of a menacing streak, and tanner deserved a gambit-adjacent southern accent. he seems like a guy that would love to deal cards that exploded upon contact with their opps. gambit also seems like to dance over the body of an opp (still love you, tan the man).

wovey as blink (power: portal creation)

based on our interpretations of blink in "the gifted", i can see her being similar to wovey. blink had been using her powers to hide and steal to survive, whereas wovey had always used the hiding technique in both the book and the movie. they're both softies inside and out! wovey with pretty pink portals agenda 2k24.

bobbin as havok (power: cosmic energy absorption and redirection/blasts)

in the xcu and tbosas, both characters are baa: blonde and angry. bobbin could've channeled his pent up anger into a bunch of energy blasts emitting from his chest. these characters like to cause trouble, but are so protective of their loved ones. also... imagine the chase scene in the arena, except bobbin had powers. it's entertaining, no?

character assignment speed-run! (since we don't get much of their personality in either the book or the movie, so now it's based on my vibes)

teslee as psylocke (power: telepathy and telekinetic constructs)

the ability to construct weapons out of nothing but pure, telepathic power? get my menacing nerd on the field! she would've loved being able to have weapons at her disposal, with the snap of a finger or a flick of a wrist.

circ as forge (power: intuitive intellect/limited technopathy)

our other techno-genius! forge has the ability to create anything intuitively by listening to the mechanical energy of the parts he puts together, which I think would've fired circ up and only increase his passion for technology by a tenfold!

velvereen as husk (power: transitional omni-morph)

husk has the power to shed her skin and form a new layer made out of any solid material. it made me think of velvet cloth, which made me think of velvereen... to me, she's stubborn and persistent like elizabeth!

facet as emma frost (power: telepathy and organic diamond form)

a boy named after the sides of a gem being assigned the mutant that turns her skin into an indestructible gem. poetic. not much to say about personality, but i like the idea of powerful!facet.

sol as sunspot (power: solar radiation absorption)

her movie version seemed determined and headstrong as she and hy pursued lucy gray and jessup, which matches sunspot's big personality and confidence. also... sol. sun. i'll see myself out.

hy as cannonball (power: thermo-chemical field propulsion)

I've always thought of his character as someone like sam in "the new mutants": reserved, nervous, and loyal. i also like the idea of hy being able to propel himself like a human cannonball... <3

ginnee as jubilee (power: "firework" energy blasts)

get it? because she got blasted in the arena... anyway, i imagine her to be similar in personality to jubilee. rambunctious, spunky, fun, a teensy bit stubborn, and always willing to prove herself by going on missions.

otto as cyclops (power: optic/eye blasts)

i imagine him to be a bit more reserved, assertive, and protective. he also got blasted... i feel terrible for assigning blast powers to the d6 homies, but I feel like they deserve this. good karma, if you will. if they get blasted, they deserve to have a... blast, too...

sabyn as quicksilver (power: super speed)

i genuinely do not give a flying fart if he was retconned as not a mutant, sabyn is him. she was so close to running away from the peacekeepers had it not been for that river TM... rip sabyn, you would've loved track and field.

sheaf as domino (power: probability manipulation/heightened luck)

luck is exactly what sheaf needed to survive those injuries sustained from the bombing. to me, she exudes this coolness, certainty just like domino in the deadpool 2 movie, with a dash of independence.

panlo as deadpool (power: regenerative healing and 4th wall interaction)

this power would've been the redemption arc panlo deserved after sustaining those injuries. he also looks like the perfect 4th wall breaker. just look at him. while not much of a jokester like deadpool, I can definitely tell he's a softie at heart like him!

might make this into a fic... 🤺

Gray, Lyon and Ultear family ideas? I like to imagine Gray tells them about one of fairy tail’s exploits and they get concerned about his well-being. Mandatory family trips thatGray definitely doesn’t try to avoid (Lyon and Ultear have learnt to alert the guild when they’re coming so Gray can’t escape).

And if you don’t mind, Gray and Loke being BFFs?

Once a month (at least) family trip are a must, It started with Ultear dragging Lyon places during the 7 year gap but it started being a more regular thing when Gray turned back up

the first couple time they tried to do things together, it was a disaster

they werent familiar with each other and were hella awkward

Also, when Lyon & Ultear would mention to Gray they were coming into town, he would try to convince the team to go on an impromptu job

they’ve since learned to warn Erza of their arrival so he cant leave

‘abt to come into town, do not let that mf leave’

‘Guarding the doors & windows rn’

Grays probably walked into the guild to see one or both of them and turned right back around

The first time the showed up when Gray wasnt around they got a shovel-esque talk

it was terrifying and also confusing considering they think of themselves as his siblings so shouldnt they be giving those talks?

Ultear really embraces her oldest sibling role and pays for practically everything they do together

While Gray will try to avoid in person outings, he will blow up their phones (lacrima devices, whatever) at all hours of the night

Lyon probably has a 16 step skin care routine that he tries to nag the other two into trying it

its a fools quest tbh

They argue. so much. cannot do anything together without a disagreement. they probably have fist fought each other too

They are fiercely protective of one another, they can be pretty subtle about it but its clear as day to anyone who even slightly crosses them

They as a whole have a gambling/betting problem

They have run their pockets dry with it

They have been kicked out of multiple restaurants for being too loud

Gray tells them off-handedly abt the jobs and events he went through while growing up in Fairy Tail and they just sit back and listen in horrified fascination

they have absolutely no planned photos of them, they just never got around to it (*coughcough* grayrefusedtobeinone *coughcough*)

however! they have soooo many candid ones, Gray glared and complained when he found out (but he has half of them framed or saved on his phone)

Ultear and Lyon got pretty close duriny the 7 year gap and while Gray swears hes not jealous of it he totally is

Personally I am not really a gruvia or graylu fan because I feel like gray with either of these ladies is a bit of a disaster. He doesn't treat juvia as a human being most of the time considering her affections are overbearing. And with lucy, it's kind of sad that alot of there 'moments' have sexual inutations like him always seeing her undressed and commenting gross things about it. Also the gemini moment isn't canon bc it wasn't in the manga. And Juvia deserves better character development.

I agree with you in regards to Juvia deserving better character development. I wish we had more of her discovering things about herself instead of her entire character revolving around her infatuation with Gray. She has such incredible potential, but instead we just get to see her as a "love pairing" for Gray, and it was all done so horribly wrong. Such a strong character such as her shouldn't have been reduced to a forced love interest.

In regards to GrayLu having "sexualized" moments, there are far more that are not sexualized than there are.

Considering how sexualized NaLu is - a canon couple - any other couple's sexualized interactions pale in comparison. But that's Mashima's writing and fanservice unfortunately. You have to take the good with the bad in that regard.

And anything in the anime that's not considered "canon" has to be taken with a grain of salt. Mashima has stated that he has enjoyed the work that the studio put into filler episodes and movies so much he just declared them canon, and some of them had even been done under collaboration with Mashima. So "canon" is somewhat of a subjective term here.

But that's the beauty of fandom - we can both like & dislike different character and pairings, and that's okay! <3

Summary of the Trolls Lore:

The six main troll tribes were divided by a musical string into different genres of music, the main ones are Pop, Rock, Techno, Funk, Classical, and Country. There are sub-genres of each different genre that tend to live separately from the main genre. They all used to live together until the pop troll leader stole all of the string. After the pop troll's ancestor stole all the strings. The other five tribes grabbed their strings and ran, living isolated from each other.

At some point after this, the Pop trolls were discovered by the Bergens, who created a holiday called Trollstice, where they just eat the trolls. King Peppy led the escape from the troll tree, but some trolls were separated, including Peppy's eldest daughter, Viva. this group later became the Putt-Putt Trolls. 20 years later, Poppy, the youngest, is now Queen, ends Trollstice and becomes friends with the Bergens, but the Putt-Putt trolls still live in fear.

After many years, the Queen of the Rock, Barb, wanted to gather all the six strings for their power to make them united under Rock, but Poppy was able to grab and destroy the strings. Now they all live united together again.

Lucy Gray Baird: Bluegrass troll

Lucy Gray is a Pop troll who converted into a sub-genre of country.

She's part of a group of pop trolls called The Covey, who were able to escape from the Troll Tree during the reign of the Bergens, and now they travel from place to place performing their music for anyone who wants to hear.

She's a confident, heart-filled, and sassy troll who loves to sing and dance like any other troll. Like the rest of the Covey, traveling is in her blood, and she doesn't like to stay in one place for too long.

Sejanus Plinth: Putt Putt Troll

Sejanus is a pop troll.

him and his family were part of the group of pop trolls who got separated during the escape from the Bergens.

He's a meek and frightened troll who is scared that the Bergens are still after them because that's all he's ever known. When he's not, he's very sassy and very affectionate with others. He loves making new friends.

While he loves to sing and dance, he's still frightened of the Bergens coming and finding them because he's being too loud (because singing killed his grandma), much like many other Putt-Putt trolls. So, it's rare that he's openly doing what he loves.

but he loves listening to others sing and might even do a dance or two.

Coriolanus is a pop troll who is converting into Classical.

His family is known for have pure white hair and icy blue eyes that pop troll aren’t known to have.

He likes to organize and to be taken seriously, but Pop trolls aren’t known for being serious and aren’t serious enough for him. He can be mean sometimes, but he’s got a reputation to uphold (no, he doesn’t), so to him, it’s justified. He thinks that he was meant to be a classical troll because most of them have pure white hair like him.

Summary: The title says it all.

It's been months since that happened, and as time passed, things went from bad to worse for Nicky.

Mrs. Peterson died, Aaron and Mya went missing, and Mr. Peterson was a possible murderer. Nicky tried telling anyone he thought would listen, but they all just dismissed him and thought he was crazy.

But Nicky didn't give up.

Maybe he didn't need any of them to listen to him, maybe he could just wait until he met someone who didn't know Mr. Peterson and convince them to help him.

But as he tried that, they also pushed him aside and thought he was just a crazy person.

Nicky still didn't give up.

Every day, he'd sneak into Mr. Peterson's house to find clues to prove he's a murderer, and he figured that the door with the most locks on it would have the most clues.

The basement.

Every time he snuck in, Mr. Peterson would always reinforce his house, always being one step ahead of Nicky. And every time he reinforced the house, he always managed to find a new way in.

If Nicky Roth wasn't one thing, it was a quitter.

Today was the weekend, and Luanne and Nicky drove to the nursing home where Bubba had been sent.

As they got out of the car, Luanne held her son's shoulder in a tight grip.

"I don't want you spewing to your grandmother about Mr. Peterson being a murderer.", she said sternly, "She's already crazy enough as it is."

Nicky looked at his shoes and nodded.

As they walked in, they spotted Bubba sitting alone at a round table, just looking down. They went to sit with her, and she slowly looked up at them.

"Hello, mother.", said Luanne, "Glad to see you're still in one piece. Jay didn't think you'd last long in here."

Bubba didn't say anything, she just looked at her daughter.

Feeling it was too quiet and too awkward, Luanne pulled Nicky close to her. "Narf, why don't you tell your grandmother a little bit about what you've been getting up to?"

And don't say "Spying on Mr. Peterson."

Nicky stayed silent, looking at his shoes.

Luanne sighed and rolled her eyes, letting go of Nicky's shoulders. "I'll be right back, guys. I have to pee.", she said, getting up to leave.

As she left, Nicky looked at Bubba, and for some reason, he didn't like what he saw.

She was more tired, her hair was more gray, and she looked like she'd been through hell. Even though he was kind of used to seeing her like this, he didn't like it for some reason.

Maybe it was just because he hasn't seen her in so long.

He tried to start a conversation, but his mind kept wandering to the thought of Mr. Peterson.

"C'mon, Narf.", Nicky scolded himself, "Something not Mr. Peterson related, think about something other than that weirdo."

Then he had the perfect thought.

"Someone new moved to Friendly Court.", he said, "Her name's Trinity, and she lives with her parents. She goes to my school, but she isn't in any of my classes, but she is in the same club as me."

Bubba just continued to look at him.

"I kinda like her. She's nice, she's sassy, she's strong, and she's really smart. Sometimes, I think she's smarter than me. Also, one of my other friends, Enzo, has a crush on her. I don't really blame him though, she's a great girl. She's also a diabetic. Which must be a living hell for her, because she can't eat sugar."

Bubba still didn't say anything, she just continued to stare at Nicky.

Nicky stopped talking and just looked at his lap.

He knew Bubba still thought he was a cursed child, but he wasn't going to let her words haunt his mind anymore.

He balled up his fists and looked straight at her.

"Listen, Bubba. I know you still blame me for Lucy's death, but I promise you that it was an accident.", said Nicky. "I'd give anything to bring her back, but she's gone. Gone forever, and there's nothing I can do about it, there's nothing anyone can do about it. You can be cold and bitter all you want, but it's pointless, because I didn't cause her death."

Nicky hadn't spoken like this since Lucy's funeral, so he felt a little awkward when he heard himself talking to his grandmother like this. But he kept talking.

"I meant everything I said at her funeral. If you're waiting for me to apologize for snapping at you, then you're going to be waiting for a very long time. I. Hate you, Bubba. You were the whole reason that I was so closed off from the outside world, and I've finally found a group of people who make me happy, and you blame me for their deaths and disappearances.", he said. He took a deep breath and continued, "I'm done trying so hard to love you when you obviously don't feel the same way about your own grandson, so this is the last time I'm ever going to talk to you."

Luanne finally came back, she grabbed her purse and then Nicky's shoulder. "Mother, we have to go. I forgot we had to go grocery shopping, Jay's already there and I gotta make sure he doesn't just fill the cart with sweets again."

Bubba nodded, not looking at her. "Bye, mother. Nicky, say goodbye to your grandma.", said Luanne.

Nicky looked down at the floor, but did as his mom said. "Bye, Bubba.", he said, loud enough for both of them to hear.

As they left, Nicky looked at his grandmother one last time before leaving the building completely.

Okay, first of all I like both Coryo and Lucy Gray. Coryo is unhinged and sassy and Lucy Gray is misterious and you can not quite grasp her.

About the ship... I like how Coryo is dumb and stupid about love. I like how Lucy Gray was his only weakness. I like even how he lost it, because for all the book/movie we can see he tries to compose himself even when everything is going bad for him or he is terrified... And he tries to search for all the way out (i.e. "well okay now I am a Pacekeeper, well time to became a general like my father, I can still have my glory, let's take a test") without losing it... And he lost it only with Lucy Gray. The wounds are deep inside him, and I love it. I like how I knew that if things were different Lucy Gray can make him do basically everything. And I like even how Lucy Gray choose herself and nothing else, and how in my view she was always able to read him, to see all his worst thoughts and she didn't even bat an eye because she has seen worst in the war. I think they love each other in a non healty way (for both) but at the end it was not the right time for them and both value something else above their love. They are bot selfish in some ways and put themself first.

In the end: I love them.
