"How's my hair look?" you can hear Yukie groan in annoyance while Kaori begins to mess up your hair purposefully "Hey stop that! You're messing my hair up…" you whine while backing away from the two "It doesn't matter what you look like Sarukui is still going to like you.

Trying to hide your smile from the two you turn away "That's not true, you don't even know if he likes me…" when the two don't say anything you turn to look at them. When you face them they're giving you a deadpan stare "Are you being serious right now?"

Confused by Yukie's blunt question you give her a confused look "Coach doesn't like you to come to our practice because you're always distracting Sarukui" Kaori explains "And when you're not there he's always bothering us about you!" Yukie adds on. 

You've never really noticed Sarukui acting like he likes you as Kaori and Yukie claim, but you've also never hung out around him enough to see. You've had a small crush on him since your two friends introduced you to him but you were too nervous to spend time with him one on one. 

Most days the three of you would have lunch together in your classroom, but today Bokuto had wanted the team to have lunch together and somehow you got dragged along. Still playing with your hair a bit as you walked to the gym you turned to Yukie "Ok seriously how's my hair?" 

She gives you a quick glance over before shrugging "Looks fine to me, quit worrying about it, and let's go, I'm hungry!" you can't even ask Kaori her opinion before you're being dragged into the gym. Fluffing your hair one last time you finally stop toying with it and look around the gym for a certain someone. 

When you finally spot him, he's sat next to Komi laughing about something. Not sure how to approach him, you follow behind your friends. As usual, Bokotu loudly greets you, gaining the attention of the rest of the team, who also begin to greet you. Kaori and Yukie take a seat on the floor with the rest of them while you say your hellos.

But as soon as you go to sit down Yukie stops you with a serious expression on her face "Y/n I need you to do something really important." Everyone watches in anticipation waiting for the girl to continue "You need to go get me a juice from the vending machine."

You roll your eyes while everyone begins to laugh "No seriously y/n, please? I'll give you the money!" sucking your teeth you try to pry her off your legs which she's holding to prevent you from sitting down "No way, you go get it!" You feel her grip tighten when you almost break free. 

"Come on you're already standing!" groaning in annoyance you stop fighting her "Fine, give me the money!" you tell her holding your hand out "Well…I kind of left it in my bag…in the classroom…" at this point, she's fully turned away from you as to not look at your annoyed expression. 

"Seriously?" you ask as she begins to quietly unpack her lunch "Yeah…seriously" you flick the back of her head before walking in the direction of the gym doors "I'm getting myself a juice with your money then," you tell her while you leave not bothering to hear her response. 

You're about fifteen feet from the gym when you hear someone running behind you, turning around you see Sarukui giving you a small smile. "Hey, mind if I join you?" unable to say anything you just shake your head and continue in the direction of your classroom.

Wanting to ask him why he wanted to come you open your mouth but all that comes out is a weird noise. You feel Sarukui looking at the side of your head but choose to ignore it "What was that?" You feel your ears getting warm but try to ignore it.

"I was going to say something but forgot…" you mutter not wanting to look at the boy next to you "Well tell me when you remember" he laughs softly nudging you with his elbow. You softly nod finally making it into your classroom.

Walking over to Yukie's desk you grab her bag opening it while looking for her coin pouch, finally finding it you hold it up to show Sarukui with a small grin. "Sweet, let's rob her" he jokes making you laugh "Yeah, what do you want from the vending machine?" you laugh opening the pouch.

Your smile immediately drops once inspecting the contents of the cat-shaped pouch "What's wrong?" Sarukui questions once he notices you've stopped in your tracks "This girl is broke, she's got nothin in here!" you groan dumping out the 300 yen to show him.

He laughs loudly at the reveal "No way, are you serious?" you softly curse Yukie under your breath while stuffing her chump change back into her pouch "It's ok, I'll get you something" When you look up at Sarukui he gives you a quick wink before turning around and walking in the direction of the vending machines. 

Caught off guard by his action you have to jog a bit to catch up to him "It's ok, you don't have to get me anything" you tell him while playing with your uniform tie. "I want to, it's fine" When you look at him you see that he's already looking at you with a knowing smile.

Once you've made it to the vending machine you look at all the options "She can't even get anything good.." you mutter looking at the 300 yen in your palm "Just get her water" you turn to Sarukui to give him a teasing smile "That's all she can afford, really"

After putting the money in and choosing water for her yukie you begin to look over the other options wondering what you'll choose. "What are you going to…" When you turn to look at Sarukui you notice him frantically looking through his pockets.

Putting two and two together you can't help but laugh "You forget your wallet?" he looks at you a bit shocked not realizing you were watching him "N-no…yes" he sighs in defeat while Yukie's water falls into the dispenser.

Sarukui watches as you laugh "I'm sorry, I forgot to grab it from my bag…I just wanted to come with you so I forgot" he softly laughs while rubbing the back of his neck "It's fine…it's just a bit funny" you sigh grabbing yukie's water and turning towards him.

Sarukui wonders if you caught what he said but he doesn't want to say anything in case you didn't, but seeing how you refuse to look at him he thinks you did. "I was going to ask why you wanted to come with me," you notice his confused expression so you explain yourself.

'Earlier, when I said I forgot, that's what I was going to ask…" you watch as he silently nods now understanding. Both of you try not to look at each other in the eye when Sarukui finally speaks "I'm sure the other guys have told you but…"

Both of you turn to a group of girls laughing walking in your direction, probably to use the vending machine you're currently standing in front of. "Let's go somewhere else, come on" You can feel your heart jump a bit when Sarukui grabs your hand leading you to a more quiet area of the school.

Finally, in a more secluded area, Sarukui continues with what he was going to say "As I was saying…I'm pretty sure the guys have mentioned it but…I really like you y/n" You're pretty sure your brain short-circuited because you can't find anything to say.

Taking your silence as rejection Sarakui lets out a big sigh "I know it's kind of random…you don't have to accept or anything" Finally finding the words you speak up "I like you too!" ok that's not exactly what you wanted to say but it got your point across.

Both of you stare at each other a bit wide-eyed at your sudden confessions before bursting into a fit of laughter "Wait are you being serious?" he questions with a deep blush on his face "Of course I'm serious…I wouldn't joke about that" you mutter softly punching his arm.

Before your arm can fall back to your side he quickly grabs your hand and holds it softly "Ok then let's go out today after school, my treat" You give him a teasing smile "You sure you won't forget your wallet?" he drops your hand at the same time his smile drops.

"Forget it!" he calls out walking away from you causing you to laugh "I'm just kidding, don't leave" he turns back to you with a small grin "Fine, I forgive you," he says holding out his hand waiting for you to join him. 

"What the hell is this? Why'd you get me water?" Yukie questioned after you placed her water on the top of her head "It's all you could afford, broke girl" you laughed tossing her the now empty coin pouch which she ripped open to see nothing but lint.

August 29th was Washio's birthday!

I'm a bit late, but happy birthday, Washio-san!!

I was so certain it was September 29th... Dang... but on August 27th haikyuu appeared in my dream, and the only scene I remember was a super random moment where Bokuto was speaking to Akaashi when, out of nowhere, he turned to Washio and said, "Oh. You have beautiful eyes, Tacchan."

And Washio was just "Thanks." Like, my man didn't emote much. But he did appreciate the compliment .

Little did I know, this probably was my subconscious warning me his birthday was close... Alas, here we are. I'll do my best to make up for it.

I believe Bokuto is the kind of man who displays pure affection to anyone without a drop of hesitation, even if it is complimenting your homie's eyes, or kissing his cheeks.
