Multi-step synthesis of Sulfanilamide:

Synthesis of p-Acetamidobenzenesulfonyl chloride.

The video shows the addition of acetanilide and chlorosulfonic acid mixture (heated in a water bath, then cooled) to a beaker filled with ice.

The vapors fuming from the addition of the mixture to the ice is due to chlorosulfonic acid which reacts violently with water (an exothermic rxn) and yields sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and hydrogen chloride (HCl).
