UK Youth Parliament. ' #GreaterLondoner -  community heroes'
UK Youth Parliament provides many opportunities for 11-18 year olds to use their elected voice to bring about social change through meaningful representation and campaigning. UK Youth Parliament has been campaigning to bring about social change since 1999. Each year, following the Make Your Mark ballot and a vote by Members of Youth Parliament in the House of Commons, we set about campaigning on the most important issues for young people. They address many issues that affect young people, especially those that grew up in impoverished, unprivileged backgrounds such as knife crime and education. They create campaigns that are raising awareness of the devastating effects of knife crime and how it affects people across the UK. They explore the multiple factors of knife crime, including mental health, education and youth services, gaining support from decision makers. They address ways to prevent young people from carrying knives, by creating platforms for young people to engage with the community. Which further Raises awareness of what young people can do to support the cause. They have even proposed a hashtag on social media called  #ActionAgainstKnifeCrime to vocalise knife crime issues on social media platforms.

5 reasons why you should feel inspired by Paul Paul Hampartsoumian - SarahSalvador
Tumblr media
He always shows professionalism.
You could be the most talented person in the world, but if you don’t have the ability to stick to a scheduled timetable, don’t turn up on time and have a sluggish attitude, then what is the point? Having a good time management indicates good commitment and enthusiasm. When employers see you are determined to work hard and keep on time, they have no reason to not want you back, he quotes.  Paul will always stick to his morals and believes that these aspects are very crucial when it comes to thriving as a freelancer. He maintains that his positive attitude and keeping a professional attitude has elevated his success throughout his career.
    2. He’s photography tells his stories.
Paul’s love for hip hop stems from his childhood. He loved hip hop because he believed that the messages conveyed in the music were strong, socially conscious and emits a politically aware message. He believed it was an eye opener to the Black American experience. Paul worked with big, talented Hip Hop artists such as Jay Z and Busta Rhymes. You can see his lifestyle and where his passion lies by looking at his photography.
    3. He believes patience is a virtue.
You are never going to get there overnight, it might even take you over a year, Paul states. But that is completely fine. The journey won't always be a short one, but always be patient and keep on developing your skills. Paul’s journey was a tough one at the beginning and wasn’t receiving stable work and was working 3-4 part time jobs to sustain his living. That didn’t stop him from giving up and pursing his dreams.
   4.  He is self aware and receptive.
‘Body language speaks louder than words’ is a quote that Paul applies to his work life. Paul examines the body language of those around him. ‘If someone turns away, I won’t bother taking a picture, if they don’t look bothered, I will go ahead and take it, if they are trying to get into the camera then I can obviously go ahead and take it.’ Being aware of people’s body language and emotions is a great skill and allows you to communicate to other people well. If one of his subjects is short tempered and impatient, instead of him being offended he sympathies with them. - It could be a sign they are stressed out or naive he states. ‘ Connect on a human level. Be cordial and friendly.’
5.     He inspires himself.
Photo’s inspire Paul, but he doesn’t focus on the particular photographer. He will look at a shot that he loves and will feel inspired by it and may try to apply it to his own work. He states that ‘He does his own thing’ He motivates to achieve the greatest work he can achieve.

Sara Salvador
Tumblr media
My name is Sarah Salvador and I have a passion in filmmaking, video editing, social and current affairs.
My love for Media, filmmaking and editing all begun when I curiously chose media as a subject for my GCSE. Prior to that, I didn't have any experience or much knowledge within the subject. My spark in the subject started as soon as I started learning it. We got taught so many interesting things from advertising, filming, and editing. From then on, I realised that this is exactly what I wanted. I loved being creative, I loved learning about current affairs and coming up with interesting new ideas. My passion for the subject was further amplifying. I went to sixth form, and I studied media during a level. We did work from magazines, to learning about codes and conventions within film. I went to university at Portsmouth, and studied media and entertainment technology. I was opened up to a variety of different subjects. We did everything from observing current affairs, to filming, journalism, and much more.
During university, my course allowed us to explore our interests and find out which part of media intrigues us the most. I loved the practical aspect, so I went for that. We made documentaries, videos and editing. My favourite part of university was when I created my own short film. (Although quite rushed, I won't lie, we had a short deadline). I filmed, edited, scripted a 10 minute short film thriller on abortion all by myself . I got feedback from random strangers online and got great feedback. My tutor at the time told me it would make a good pilot series! I was so happy.
Now, I am making a documentary on female bodybuilding. I love the world of filmmaking. And I believe that this is only the beginning for me...I can't wait to see where it takes me!

Apple has a slogan brand called "think different." Think different is an advertising slogan used from 1997 to 2002 by Apple Computer, Inc., now named Apple Inc. ... The slogan has been widely taken as a response to IBM's slogan "Think." It was used in a television advertisement, several print advertisements, and several TV promos for Apple products. Creativity works, which is a creative industry that caters to young people aged 16-25, would be a great brand for Apple to team up with. They are both based on Creativity,  exploring and coming up with new ideas, and concepts that could potentially impact the world around us. As well as that, their slogan was inspired by IBM, which is an advertising agency. It was also used in television advertising and print advertising. Creativity Works does a lot of work revolving around television and advertising, which again makes it a fantastic company for Apple to collaborate with. Apple has their own section on diversity on their website, which they quoted that "For the past five years, we’ve continued to hire more women and underrepresented minorities every year. This is driving our progress over time. As we bring in new team members and support their growth at Apple, we’re highly encouraged that our workforce will become more representative at all levels of the company." Creativity works is an industry that opens many doors and opportunities for people coming from a bame background, women and misrepresented minorities.
Both creativity works and Apple are all about giving equal opportunities, recognising that everyone is different and pushing a fair representation. Apple has expressed that they believe in acknowledging people's strengths and differences and believes that everyone deserves to be included as everyone is different.
In conclusion, this corresponds with everything that goes with Creativity works, where they believe that the media deserves a range of diversity, because everyone is different, and no one deserves to be hidden.

Whitgift Centre
Tumblr media
Whitgift Centre, is located in West Croydon and was built between 1968-1970. The large Shopping Centre has many retail shops which includes H&M, Clarke's, River Island and many more. Whitgift Centre will always be a memorable place for me as it's a highlight for where I grew up. I enjoy making trips to their retail stores. They have plans to change Whitgift Centre into Westfield shopping centre. It was previously expected that construction would begin in September 2019, with the opening date slated for 2023.
However, Croydon Council leader councillor Tony Newman said at the time that he did not know when construction on the development would start.

7 things people with ADHD want you to understand. By Sarah Salvador
1) We are not zoning out on you because you are boring. (Well at least sometimes, anyway)
A lot of the time, people with ADHD have a difficult time paying attention to one thing, or our minds are all over the place. So it’s not uncommon for us to be zoning out on you whilst you are talking to us. You might mistake us for being rude or being completely bored as you are speaking to us. But the truth is, many of us have very short attention spans so our mind just ends up drifting away.
Tumblr media
2) It’s not only something that you grow out off.
Although symptoms occur when you are young, and it may be only during their childhood, it is usually continued when you reach adulthood as well. In fact, the majority of cases of ADHD are diagnosed when you are in adulthood. Field, 2018, quotes that ‘ADHD is typically a chronic disorder, meaning that most children (50 to 80 percent) with ADHD continue to meet criteria for the diagnosis as they move into adolescence, and many (35 to 65 percent) continue to meet criteria as adults. Further, only a small number (10 to 20 percent) of children with ADHD will have no symptoms or impairment as adults. In other words, relatively few people appear to fully “outgrow” ADHD in adulthood.’
Tumblr media
3) We aren’t being lazy.
When you have ADHD, getting started on tasks can be notoriously hard, but it’s not us being lazy, we promise. It’s just that we struggle with procrastinating a lot. Brown suggests that ‘For many years, it has been recognized that individuals with ADHD tend to chronically have insufficient release and reloading of the neurotransmitter dopamine at synaptic junctions of neurons in the networks that manage executive functions.’
Tumblr media
4) Yes, we find it difficult to sit still.
People that suffer from ADHD tend to have a hard time sitting still. Especially the ones that tend to be more hyperactive. This can be very annoying living with ADHD, as we constantly get up, move around a lot and fidget a lot. Please have patience with us and don’t get annoyed at us too much.
Tumblr media
5) Yes, it may be sometimes difficult for us to focus, but doesn’t mean we can’t.
Although it can be difficult for people with ADHD to focus on a task, sometimes we can focus on one thing. You may think that someone may not have ADHD because they can play video games in the room for hours, or they can go on their phones for hours. However Timothy, 2016 recites that ‘Hyperfocus is the experience of deep and intense concentration in some people with ADHD. ADHD is not necessarily a deficit of attention, but rather a problem with regulating one's attention span to desired tasks. So, while mundane tasks may be difficult to focus on, others may be completely absorbing,  An individual with ADHD who may not be able to complete homework assignments or work projects may instead be able to focus for hours on video games, sports, or reading.’
Tumblr media
6) Organising things can be really hard for us
If you have ever lived with someone with ADHD, you may find that they aren’t the cleanest people or tidiest people to live with. But that’s because ADHD can make tasks such as cleaning or organising difficult to do. A good way for me to make me more organised is by setting alarms. Peterson proposes that ‘ADHD makes getting and staying organized challenging. Restlessness, impulsivity, focusing difficulties, and other symptoms of adult ADHD get in the way of someone’s ability to concentrate on a tedious task like organizing.’
Tumblr media
7) We have trouble losing things.
A lot of people with ADHD tend to be fairly clumsy, so if you need us to keep something, we may be your last option. One problem that annoys me the most about having ADHD is that I can lose my debit card so many times, it’s very frustrating. Brady states that ‘ In life, losing things is a frequent occurrence. For someone with ADHD, though, it’s guaranteed — money back.  If you have ADHD, you’ll feel like there’s virtually nothing you can do to avoid misplacing something. ‘
