Work/Life Balance Day 30, Work/Life Balance: It is a challenge to have an art business, since I work at home. I have kids, pets, a husband and a home to maintain, along with my art and business, all under one roof. I have to get creative with managing my time around family, and making art and managing a freelance art business. But, working from home has benefits. I’m around if my kids need me, sometimes my kids like to help in the business, I can work at any time of day, I can go on work field trips, I can have classes on line or in person, I can meet with clients and other artists for lunch or for coffee, and I can create art everyday! Self Promotion Day 29, Self Promotion: I feel that I bring joy, peace, beauty and shared emotions into people’s lives through my art. When I express myself into my art, I feel that the viewer is connected to my feelings in some way, or to the imagery I portray. Having a lot experience in different mediums, styles, and techniques, I have an expansive ability to create pieces of work that people would love. Since I started late in my life to make my art a career, I feel that other women and mothers would understand the hard work it takes to create my work and my business. I also believe that individuals that deal with issues like anxiety, depression, or any other mental illness, would find a shared connection in the expression of my work. The message I wish to convey to the viewer is that any struggles one can have, can be overcome and/or expressed through expressive art, that when you stop and look closely you can find that you are not alone, that there is joy, beauty and hope in life. I hope my abstracts, landscapes, paintings and illustrations help to bring connection, hope and beauty into the viewer's life. “Weighed Down” 4.5x6 watercolor and ink painting. Here I express how much the winter months pile up weighed feelings of sadness. I bet a lot of you get down during the winter. I know for me, February is the hardest! It’s been cold for months and greenery is much needed. My favorite parts of this kind of work is that even though I’m expressing sadness, I’m left with beautiful work. Since I have a regular part time job now I have been busy working and adjusting. So my post maybe early morning sometimes because I start work at 6:30 am. . I have had some art camps I taught with @michaelsymberstudios and a teaching collaboration with the Elmhurst Public Library ( @askelmhurst )doing an art workshop for the kids summer reading program. I also have had my Frida painting in the Elmhurst Artist Guild and got an Honorable Mention. And I have a few commissions I am finishing up. So I have been busy art biz wise. .
