✌🏼 #repost @rabiasquared2 ・・・ Ollie and James will be fasting for 72 hours to help #FreeAdnan and I'll be joining them! Join us too, starting July 19, to #FastForAdnan" Repost from @myfriendhasnever • Adnan Syed is an innocent man behind bars and has been since he was 17 years old, for a murder he didn’t commit. ⠀⠀ James and Ollie are committed to helping raise money to support the efforts to help get him acquitted. ⠀⠀ They have decided to do a 3 day fast to encourage all their friends and family plus all supporters of Adnan and all listeners to their Podcast, My Friend has Never Listened to a Podcast to dig deep and donate. ⠀⠀ Please give whatever you can, any amount would be greatly appreciated. ⠀⠀ If you would want people to fight for you if you were wrongly incarcerated, then we ask that you give whatever you can to support this extremely good cause. ⠀⠀ Giving up food for 3 days is a drop in the ocean compared to what Adnan has had to endure these last 21 years but hopefully it will help reinvigorate support for his case. ⠀⠀ After Serial, there was plenty of support for Adnan. However the State have fought over the years to keep him in prison every step of the way. They desperately don’t want a retrial as they’ve got no real evidence against him. The State is hoping that if they fight long enough, people will lose interest in Adnan’s case, but we won’t let that happen. ⠀⠀ Last year the state even offered Adnan a deal to plead guilty and they would release him in 4 years. Adnan is not prepared to admit to something he didn’t do, so without support he may never get released. ⠀⠀ WE WILL KEEP FIGHTING TO FREE ADNAN!! ⠀⠀ Do something amazing today and donate to help raise funds for Adnan at the below link: https://gf.me/u/yamjb9 ⠀⠀ Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! ⠀⠀ (A very hungry) Ollie & James ⠀⠀ #myfriendhasneverlistenedtoapodcast #myfriendhasnever #podcast #serial #freeadnan #sarahkoenig #asiachapman #asiamcclain #haeminlee #jaywilds #justiceforhae #adnansyed #fastforadnan #undisclosedpodcast #undisclosed #rabiachaudry #justice #nevergiveup https://www.instagram.com/p/CCnkly9Ba5K/?igshid=521l81fhq0i5

‘Serial’ podcast subject Adnan Syed is granted a retrial
‘Serial’ podcast subject Adnan Syed is granted a retrial
When last we heard about Adnan Syed, subject of the breakout hit podcast Serial’s first season, a judge ruled he should be given a new trial based on his previous attorney’s failings. Today, Maryland’s court of special appeals has affirmed it will grant him one. Today, Adnan Syed’s appeal in his case was affirmed by the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland. https://t.co/kMALyCmTGq — Serial…

Todd thinks he's extremely clever...and I grudgingly admit that sometimes he is.

Preview and download the podcast Serial on iTunes. Read episode descriptions and customer reviews.
If you haven’t listened or of you’re not listening to Serial, then you’re doing something wrong. Best podcast of all time; it’s gripping, incessant, and moving. Sarah Koenig, the executive producer and host of the show, tells and reports the story like no one else could.
Also listen to the debriefs & discussions about the podcast and the case. Check out Undisclosed: The Case against Adnan Syed, and Slat’s Serial Spoiler Special. This case has consumed my life and I have been obsession over it for more than 6 months. Follow the story and become involved!

I Am A Murderer: Hear Me Roar
Having been asked "why does this story matter?" or "what can you learn from Serial?", I give this extremely unsatisfactory answer: I don't know. I was excited and drawn into Sarah's telling of Adnan's story because I was entertained. As I spoke about in my previous reflection, to the everyday listener, Serial is like listening to Law and Order--sort of like a television show, but it's NPR so it seems to be more intellectuall. The issue with this idea is that Serial is a real story with real people. It's hard to digest that while listening, but this podcast affects a community of people. I am not saying we don't have a right to listen to it, because we do and I think it is a great podcast to listen to, but that said there is an importance that is not addressed. First, what does this podcast mean to Sarah? What is she trying to tell people? Obviously I am not Sarah and therefore I cannot answer anything beyond my stumped "idk". That said, let's try and see this podcast from Sarah's eyes. She has spent months combing through information and speaking to different people to try a make sense of case that lacked evidence and holds a ruling that bothers many people---not because Adnan is innocent, but because he has not been fully proven guilty. Sarah sits in her office with the same confused state of mind we are all in after listening to a couple episodes--did he or did he not do it? But suddenly this podcast becomes less about the facts and more about the story, the community, the people, and the thoughts. Sarah no longer entices people with her disgusting and shocking cold hard facts, yet she sits in her office wondering "Damn, so many people are listening to my podcast" . I wonder why. Why do we listen to this podcast, why do we want to listen? Now at this point Sarah, and i am sure many others, have reasons that include lessons and signifigence, but I remind you that I do not know. It could be the fact that the podcast is evolved around themes taking place in 1998 that still exist in today's society: like racial prejudice and superficial judgements. But it seems that these societal issues are too taboo where they are not discussed, to be the reason that millions of people tune in. It could be the sympathy felt for Adan, and Hae, and even Jay that draw an emotional connection from listeners to this podcast. Or it could be simple and harmless boredom. But, I don't think it is any of these. Don't get me wrong, these could be the right answers and are a part of it, but the biggest thing is the story. Not the significance of the story but the story itself. Serial is like the Moth story slams on steroids. Sarah has significance and lesions behind Serial, but the reason Serial is popular is because it's telling a story. It's the ancient yet so entertaining means of human interaction that makes us want to hear more about murder. It's not the underlying themes, but how we vicariously live through Sarah's rendition of the events that makes us addicted to the murder of Hae. This story lets me be the victim, the murderer, the drug dealer, and the witness without having to step out of my pajamas or be arrested. -RB
