I decided to spruce up an old bodycon dress with a cropped jacket since I shared a cropped jacket a few posts ago. Tomorrow, I'll feature an influencer wearing 1 of my favourite wardrobe staples, this time a sophisticated look, so keep your eyes peeled for it!

Today though, is about pinstripes. I'm quite careful with these as they lean towards being more sombre and serious. I'll turn 42 soon, but still have a playful streak because life is too short to take ourselves too seriously.

With girly, fun touches, an uptight pinstripe piece sheds its boring image and becomes a smart wardrobe staple we can pull out again and again whenever we need to feel formidable. @sarahjanereign radiates invincibility in her skater dress and still remains feminine by adding blush nude accessories.

Light sprinkles of pink is just right to hurry Spring on its way. The sweet accessories will look great with trousers or jeans and a casual tee.

Hey hey guys! 👋👋👋

I bought my first dress from Lemoniade and gave it a test run for the office. I chose this thanks to the smart collar and gold hardware details. The fabric is breathable and lightweight and I can throw my brown cropped jacket over it during the rainy months.

I matched an old Nina Ricci shoulder bag with the cocoa Just Cavalli watch. The jade donut remembrance necklace added a little touch of colour. Last but not least, I don't apply makeup to my neck, décolletage or anywhere other than my face. This is how little I use. As for the hair... there was a breeze 😅

I still have some colour, florals and patterns in my wardrobe even as I'm now giving them away to the part-time domestic helper who either wears them or sends them back to her rural hometown in Indonesia, where they live in less fortunate conditions. Nonetheless, there will be a patterned/colour outfit post here and there to break up the monotony.

I can never get enough of my favourite colour. It provides a stark contrast to a tan or rosy complexion (like for Sarah of @sassyredlipstick here), it looks clean and pristine, AND it can be very classy when done right.

Colours really pop against white, as they do black, giving us a lot of room to play with accessories and jewellery, like Sarah's girlish sandals. Hubs is a nice matchy matchy accessory here too!

Eri of @erianalane gives us a treat by including 3 photos in 1 post! And... she shows exactly why less is more. Simple, uncomplicated outfits are, quite frankly, hard to beat, especially when we have time constraints.

A cute top with a sweetheart neckline works with everything, jeans, skorts and pencil skirts. I want this. The neutral bodycon dress is beautiful and the floaty floral white number is utterly feminine. I also love that Eri isn't shy about trying delicate jewellery. Curvy babes look great wearing those just like us slim ones. So if you're still dithering over whether to buy something dainty, don't wait anymore. See how good she looks!

Another babe taking the classy neutral plunge is Sarah-Jane of @sarahjanereign and... I spy darling layered bar necklaces! 😉 Matching her versatile wrap dress with an eye-catching structured Chinese fan rattan handcarry bag as well as flat strappy sandals, this outfit is great for shopping and brunch.

Swap the sandals and bag for pointy-toe heels and a structured shoulder bag and it's work ready. Not only that, add glittery gold heels and a gold shimmer clutch, add statement earrings and you're ready for a swish dinner. Bonus points for the mileage one can derive from the dress.

Like white and all shades of brown, black is a neutral appropriate anytime, anywhere. Tall ladies look better in midi skirts and dresses than I do, as super-cute Tally of @thetallysharp demonstrates. Keeping it casual, fun AND stylish with snakeprint platform heels, the babe rocks this posh hue like a pro.

I keep trying to enlarge the photo to peek at the dainty ring! 😂😂😂

If you think bold and colour are what you need to stand out, take another look at these stylish lasses and think again. You can stand out for understated elegance too. For me, the choice is obvious.

The next outfit post will be something a little fun with florals for my outfit to break up the monotony. Till then, stay sweet!

I'd been meaning to wear this candy-pink FIGL pencil skirt for quite awhile but time has been tight, so I basically lived in bodycon dresses for work. Decided to play with separates on dressed-down Friday because... I was already in a good mood because... we're in Batam right now!!!!!!!!! 😃

That's what we do in our 40s - avoid the mad hordes of shoppers in town which sometimes result in pushing, shoving and the odd elbow in the boob (don't need to ask how I know, right); not always fun living in an over-populated country when space is a luxury that neither money nor Mastercard can buy 🤣

So... the ladies in white today.

This fun lil' styling clip courtesy of Natalie of @nataliemeansnice shows 2 entirely different ways to style white basics, i.e. surefire way to catch my attention, especially when the weather is stupidly hot right now. I love both designs, the second a little more than the first because square neckline and cute cap sleeves? Yes please! Nice rings, btw 😉

Sarah-Jane of @sarahjanereign jazzes up a basic monochromatic white top and black bodycon skirt with head-turning... I do not know whether to call them buckled booties or sandals but they sure are cute, and large-frame sunnies. I keep enlarging the photo to try and have a better look at her wrist. You know, the bracelet? 😂

I most definitely have not forgotten about my sassy babe, Susan, of @suggamonkey. She's 1 of my faves because she's rarely bitchy so I was hoping that she had something in my taste which I could share. If you're looking for a maxi skirt coord set that has customisable sizing, thank Susan later. The fabric isn't sheer even in sunlight, drapes nicely on top and the cut of the skirt allows for a sassy strut too!

With floral or printed separates, I frequently mention pairing them with white. Like black, this neutral complements rather than clashes. Adore the structured rattan bag and cute sandals and... andandAND her adornments are perfect. Keeping her jewellery simple allows her to look luxe yet the pieces don't take attention away from her floral wide trousers. Brilliant.

Last but not least, Sarah of @sassyredlipstick, fellow lover of the feminine and the girly. There's a newer post with a white outfit but I chose this because... pink and white and hello, Givenchy Antigona! You honestly wouldn't think I'd miss that, right? 😂

If you were on the fence about white, these babes are paving the way. Go on, give it a try and discover how much you just can't live without it. I certainly can't!

Sorry guys, didn't have the time for an outfit post yesterday. We had a lot of fun and rounded the day up with... a scary movie with our houseguests. I had to sleep with the blanket over my head 🤣 28 Weeks is violent, gross and frightening! 😖😖😖

Today is Sunday. There's a family lunch, followed by coffee with our houseguests before they leave. Then we really need to catch up on house chores and errands for CNY (yuck, springcleaning) before we can finally relax for the weekend.

Onto florals. After stocking up my wardrobe with basics and work items, I gave it a little update with plum blossoms for CNY. I'm digging around for my casual skorts too, but meanwhile, here's an item you'll love throwing over simple or solid colour outfits to jazz them up.

This pretty little number looks expensive, comfortable and SO girly!!!!!! Besides dresses, it looks fab with jeans or shorts to keep warm as the weather slowly heats up again. I like how @sarahjanereign threw it over a pink dress too, super feminine and demure.
