My FairyLoot Edition

I wish to celebrate art, August and evil. LONG LIVE EVIL was FairyLoot’s August pick for their adult fantasy box. Do you SEE this edition? The dust jacket is reversible and the art is by magnificently talented Bon Orthwick.

I send out so much love and thanks to the whole Fairyloot team, not just for choosing LONG LIVE EVIL but for their love and dedication to stories and their thoughtfulness in creating the most beautiful meaningful editions.

The hardcover under the book is TIME OF IRON, my protagonist’s favourite book she walks into. The book within a book IS A BOOK WITHIN A BOOK. Look it’s TIME OF IRON and it has the SERIES TITLE for the imaginary book on the spine!

LONG LIVE EVIL is an ensemble book, so I was so happy to have endpapers showing all my vipers and heroes. Marius’s hair… is so beautiful it makes me feel quite unwell? He is perfect. I love how Key is Octavian’s shadow! Victoria Broccoli is there too! They are COMING OUT OF THE BOOK PAGES.

The sword on the sprayed edge has its legendary sinister name. The stained glass is there for dark divinity. Every detail is perfect. Getting to sign some Wednesday was so thrilling. I used to moon over other authors’ fancy beautiful editions, never dreaming I’d get one of my own: they seemed a thing for luckier people.

I took these in front of flowers in my wee garden because I moved into my house in the cold, unsure if I could still be a writer. When I was lonely I was surprised by an explosion of roses. FairyLoot choosing my book was like that for me. I send them thanks for changing my story, by coming like a gift. I hope their readers enjoy their special letter from me and their bonus content.

The Bisexual disaster of Long Live Evil is actually just me being attracted to Rae, Key, and almost every one else in this entire book.

I would do absolutely anything for every single one of the Vipers. I love all of them so much.

I have just finished reading long live evil by Sarah Rees Brennan and it was amazing, all of the characters and their emotion to each other were incredible. I really really enjoyed this book.

This is an imagining what could have happened if she had returned to her own world at the end of the book, I think he would have made the statue like this to be very scandalous because he thought it would be something that she would have enjoyed forever scandalizing everyone

2023: A Year for the Pop Girlies

Long Live Evil is good in the way Sarah Rees Brennan is always good where she tells you exactly what she's going to do and then does it. But I'm starting to take it personally now that het and achillean ships are perfectly swoony dangerous and hot filled with tension and longing and chemistry and the only sapphic relationship here was a literal snoozefest. Why are y'all like this

One of my fave bits in LLE is that the Cobra’s band plays club music bc all the potential for bardcorr or full orchestra covers in an adaptation?? ABSOLUTELY ENDLESS!!!

Like the afformentioned Cobra scene and the later one at the pub? Put some Usher in there! Or maybe Low! What I would give to see Marius questioning who shawty is and why they’re descending!

And the Queen’s Trials? You cannot tell me that Circus wasn’t meant for that! We need the bards playing Britney while we watch a monster slaying montage!

And ofc Look What You Made Me Do is THE Rae scheming soundtrack!

I could go on about more songs, but I’ll save that for a longer post.
