I’ve only listened to one of these and have another saved on my iPod to listen to per @thefullbronte glowing recommendation, but I’m sure you could read/listen to all of them before DG puts out her next book TBH.

Clarice: Have you seen Lucrezia?
Lorenzo: Pfft of course I haven’t because I know that it would upset you.
Clarice: I was referring to your mother.
Lorenzo: Oops

Thank you for the tag @do-no-harm-hopefully
1. Birthday: May 24th
2. Zodiac: Gemini
3. Height:  5′1
4. Last song listened to: Out Tonight from Rent
5. Hobbies: Dnd, knitting - except I never really learned how to knit so I can only make things in a straight line, making fondu and/or other cheese related dinners with my boy, baking, and taking naps because medical school is tiring
6. Favourite colour: purple
7. Last movie watched: Kedi - which is a documentary about the street cats in Istanbul -- highly recommend for some good wholesome content
8. Favourite books: I don’t think I can name just a single favorite book. My favorite book about medicine is When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi. My favorite fiction books are Mr Penumbra’s 24 Hour Book Store by Robin Sloan, all of the Jane Austin. The Gilded Hour by Sarah Donati is spectacular - it’s fiction but based on real history and follows female surgeons in the 1880s and their work towards reproductive rights and women’s healthcare.
9. Dream job: Ob/Gyn - hopefully I’m on the way there and I’m only a few years away from getting to talk about birth control and take care of my pregnant ladies every day
10. Meaning behind URL: I wanted to envision a world ruled by women but the word matriarchy doesn’t quite do it for me because it puts women in relation to men and their role in the family. The word gynocracy isn’t really used but it means ruled by women and it doesn’t place women in relation to anyone else so I kind of like it better
I’m going to second tagging @loreleys-road-to-md  @neuralcaffeinology @meanwhileonwednesday @medblurred  @this-is-mdness and an open spot for anyone else who just wants to say hi!

I finished season 2 of Medici sometime last week — and then went back and rewatched season 1, because I’d last watched it over a year ago and couldn’t remember a thing about it.
I definitely liked S2 better than S1. The cast had better chemistry, and the characters seemed a lot more natural around each other. Also, the actors who played Piero and Lucrezia (Cosimo’s son and daughter-in-law/Lorenzo’s parents) actually looked like older versions of their S1 counterparts.
Daniel Sharman is not bad at all as Lorenzo — in fact, Lorenzo is a far better protagonist than Cosimo from S1. (Though, you can make a drinking game out of the number of times he says “For the good of Florence!”) Sean Bean does a good job as Jacopo Pazzi, Matteo Martari does a great job as Francesco.
Having watched Merlin, Bradley James kept reminding of Arthur, especially as he’s pretty much in the same getup and had most of the comedic moments of the show. I wish they'd given him a more in depth character arc than just the affair with Simonetta, because didn’t Giuliano’s illegitimate son go on to become Pope not long after his death? Of course, the show's focus is on Lorenzo, but if I’m not wrong, Giuliano was a lot more involved in the Medici bank and politics, and I feel they didn't highlight that enough.
Of the female characters, I found Lucrezia, (the Medici boys’ mother, played by Sarah Parish) far more interesting than Lucrezia Donati (Lorenzo’s lover) or Clarice (Lorenzo’s wife) or Bianca (Lorenzo’s sister).
The cinematorgraphy is really good, as are the costumes, and the architecture of Renaissance Florence.
I did have to do a fair bit of googling and wiki’ing though, because the timelines made no sense. Also, I kept trying to connect the timelines of The Borgias and Medici because there’s a Sforza in both series — both families were prominent during the Renaissance.
Also because half the actors looked familiar but I couldn’t place them. (Apart from Ned Stark, of course.) Turns out Daniel Sharman was in Teen Wolf, the guy who plays Sandro Botticelli was one of Lucrezia Borgia’s husbands in The Borgias, and Sarah Parish was also in Merlin and almost became Arthur’s stepmom (but ultimately didn’t, because her character turned out to be a troll (Ps watch Merlin, it’s hilarious).

So I watched Medici 2x01
Sort of spoilerous ramblings behind the cut
- Dude, massive hotness upgrade for both Lorenzo and Giuliano here, I see
- Also HAI OH HAI BRADLEY JAMES LONG TIME NO SEE.
- Also HAI OH HAI SEAN BEAN (You are totes going to die, but something tells me that not until the end of this season maybe. That something being History)
- YES LUCREZIA IS THE BADASSEST (Also A+ casting because Sarah Parish definitely looks like an older Valentina Bellé)
- Piero, why??? Don’t make me question your whole existence like I did with your father in the previous season.
- CONTESSINA MY QUEEN (even if it is just in flashback format)
- I love that Botticelli is going to be a sidekick of sorts. I want him pinning hard over SImonetta Vespucci btw. (Show you deprived me of Ginevra Cavalcanti having a semi-significant role last season do not deprive me of this)
- Hey cute star-crossed love story between a Pazzi and a Medici. This will end well. (Nah it actually will end up better than expected)
- Hey, the Pazzis and Giuliano getting into a metaphorical dick-measuring contest I see.
- Lucrezia Donati is gOOOOOORGeous and her face looks familiar... HEY IT IS JULIET FROM THE TELECINCO VERSION.
- HEY HEY HEY SFORZA I AM A BIG FAN OF YOUR WORK.
- Also I love the Sforza coat of arms.
- ALSO GFDI BUSINESS IS HARD XD
- Fuck I missed this series and I am so glad it is back and I want fifty Seasons.
- EDIT: I forgot to add that it kinda fascinates me how the men’s costumes are so much better done from an accuracy standpoint than the women’s in this show.
