Recent birds: Immature gray hawk / aguililla gris (Buteo plagiatus) at Sonoita Creek, Patagonia, Arizona.
This very young bird isn’t showing any of the beautiful plumage of a mature gray hawk. Adult birds have uniform steely gray feathers above, and delicate stripes below. What he has mastered is the gray hawks’ distinctive call — like a baby in distress. This bird called constantly, though mother bird stayed impassively distant. Independence and self sufficiency are hard lessons for little birds.

The BBC American channel renewed this once again because they love to play The Lost Boys every once in awhile and also summer is coming so I'm trying to watch it on the Boardwalk even though I have bad night vision even if I work in the county. I can get off work, hang out go to the Boardwalk and then hopefully not get any fog.....or drive back to dad's house and beg sister without eye sight issues to take us!
14, "Are you alright?" And 19, "No, I didn't mean to feed on your territory! I swear!" With poly lost boys❤
Sorry for the wait! I hope you like this💜
------------------------------------------
Vampires had strict rules. Even though some of them liked to preach about freedom and the lack of rules - everyone was bound by something. Vampires were bound by the sun. If it was up, they had to hide. They were bound by their bloodlust, needing a humans lifesource in order to survive. They couldn't enter a home without an explicit invitation, nor could they be seen in mirrors. Rules, whether you liked it or not.
The second vampires lived together in groups, there were some more rules added to the list. A group - coven - had a leader. More often than not, it was the creator of the other vampires in the group, but there were exceptions. A coven could claim one area as their own, and no other vampire was allowed to hunt there. That rule had been made centuries ago, when the killing spree of one vampire led to the eradication of hundreds.
The boys had left the boardwalk early that night, deciding to go and feed earlier than usual. The main reason for this was the strange smell that hung around town. It was definitely a vampire - that much was certain - but the smell this vampire had was different. Sweeter. More gentle. It evoked a hunger inside them, and thus, they decided they had to try and clench it.
It was there, when they arrived at the edge of town - having found a small party they could crash - that they found the source of the smell. Another vampire, as expected. They were dancing along between the humans, looking almost ethereal. Their laughter filled the air, and the sound of it made it seem as if they had the power to restart an undead heart.
David stopped to look at the vampire, before moving forward. Even though the stranger was here, he had nothing to do with them. He and his boys had to feed, and they'd deal with the trespasser after. With just the slightest nod, the boys flew up into the air, racing each other down again. People from the party were grabbed left and right. They screamed, being quickly drained or slowly ripped apart.
It didn't take long or not a single living human remained.
"Why did you do that?"
Paul looked up, seeing the vampire standing in front of them. He and the others had already started to clean up the mess they'd made, and if he was being frankly - he had forgotten about the unknown vampire already.
"Do what?"
"I wanted to kill them. I'd been hunting all night, and -"
"You really want to hunt on another vampires territory?" David stood behind them, causing the vampire to jump.
"What? I- I thought no one was left, after that Max guy was killed." They frowned slightly, looking at the boys - taking a step back when they saw both David and Dwayne dangerously glare at them.
"But-" they quickly continued, "I am guessing this is your territory now?"
David gave them a cold nod, causing them to shiver. There is something about this group of vampires that made it hard to look away or think straight.
"You still hunted here."
The vampire swallowed, biting their lip. "But-"
"We have every right to kill you." Dwayne added, causing the unknown vampire to take a step backwards.
"No!" They looked at the boys, practically pleading. "I didn't mean to feed on your territory! I swear!"
"How about you let us know who you are, hm?" Marko spoke up. The vampire nodded.
"Charlie. I'm eh - I'm new."
"Yeah, we figured." Paul grinned - but Charlie couldn't decide whether it was a teasing or threatening one.
"I really didn't mean to feed on-"
"That's fine. You've learnt your lesson, haven't you?"
Charlie nodded, looking at David. He introduced himself and the boys. The atmosphere cleared a little, everything less tense. The longer they talked, the more Charlie realised that they liked these men. Sure they had scared them before, but damn - they were hot.
"How new are you?" Marko asked as he and the others walked to their bikes. Charlie shrugged, following behind. "Less than a year? I've been on the road, so I have no idea about time or dates."
"You ride?" Dwayne asked.
Charlie nodded, taking the keys out of their pocket. "Nothing to fancy, just a yamaha."
"Why did you pick that one?" Paul looked at them.
"Mistook it for a piano store."
This caused the boys to grin. David didn't know why - normally, he'd have killed an intruder on his territory without a second thought, but with Charlie? It felt wrong. Normally, Dwayne didn't even bother with conversations with strangers, simply stating that they were boring and unimportant - so why did he willingly choose to participate in conversation now? And what about Paul, who'd normally torment and tease anyone just for the fun of it - who now seemed genuinely interested in this Charlie? What about Marko, who disliked anyone every touching his stuff - but was now helping Charlie step on the back of his ride so he could give them a lift to their bike? There was something about this Charlie, that much was certain.
Charlie pointed Marko in the right direction, the others quickly following behind. Within ten minutes, they arrived at a small parking lot surrounded by trees. In a shadowy corner stood a dark burgundy bike. Charlie grinned as they stepped off, taking their own ride.
"Thanks for the ride. I guess I'll be going now." Charlie smiled but stopped when they wanted to start their motor and saw the boys staring at them. They frowned.
"Are you alright?"
It was quiet for a moment, as if the boys were talking among themselves without Charlie being able to listen in. It went on for a while, the boys sometimes throwing them a look and then going back to the discussion.
"It's to late for you to go. The sun will be up in an hour."
Charlie nodded as David spoke. "I'll go and find a mot -"
"No, you're not," Marko interrupted.
"What?"
"You're coming with us," Dwayne explained. "We have enough space, and it's close by."
"Also," Marko added as he saw Charlie's doubtful look, "it is totally free."
"I can still leave if I want to?"
"Not sure why you would, but yes!" Paul nodded.
"So you're really just being kind?"
"Yeah." Marko nodded.
"As sweet as this is," David gave all of them a stern look, "we have to go."
Charlie grinned, racing after the others. It didn't take long before they arrived at a cliff, with some stairs leading down into a cave. As they entered, surrounded by their newfound friends, Charlie began to understand what Paul had meant. If it was up to Charlie, they'd never leave this place again.

So what are some ways y'all use to determine if someone is actually from your state or not?
For me, the easiest way to determine if someone is actually from California or not is by finding out whether they think the San Francisco Bay Area, and more specifically the South Bay — what most non-Californians know as "Silicon Valley" 🤢 — is NorCal or SoCal
Oh and whether or not they know that "Silicon Valley" is part of the San Francisco Bay Area but does not include San Francisco (or Oakland) is another reliable way to determine who's from here and who isn't
#helpful hint: for most californians the unofficial 'border' between norcal and socal is the grapevine#others may put it just below fresno and monterey counties#and a few just below santa clara and santa cruz counties#but for the most part almost nobody actually from here thinks san francisco is 'socal'#and also the only people who say they're from 'silicon valley' are techbros#those of us actually from so-called 'silicon' will usually just say we're from san francisco#many of whom aren't even originally from california much less the sf bay area#or santa clara or san jose or even 'the bay area'#yes there's more than one 'bay area'#but 'the bay area' without any identifiers always refers to the sf bay area

Bay Area snow photos: rare winter storm transforms California landscape
Feb. 23, 2023 - KTVU
The conditions are right across many parts of California to get snow on Thursday and Friday.
Cold air from the Arctic is combining with ocean moisture and will result in snow. The only question is how much will fall.
It was more than just a fluke dusting. Many areas found snow piling up to six inches.
Click link for more amazing Bay Area and Northern CA snow pics!
All these places are gifted by the way. Here a just a few...
