Director Kim Gyuna: When I got to know about "Love Supremacy Zone" from our CEO, I stayed up all night reading original novel. I immediately knew when I read it, that this was a work I must create no matter what. I kept reading and imagining how to film the scenes. I told CEO that I really want to make this project.

Q. Stories about each main actor's casting?

During the first round of audition, I was really surprised that Taevin came extremely prepared. We gave actors a small script that he memorized but Taevin also read original novel and webtoon, so we could have a deeper talk with him (even during first audition). That's how we realized that with this actor we will be able to bring to life such difficult character as Myungha. We cast him quite quickly.

In the case of Joowan, playing role of Yeowoon, he was cast a bit later. There were a lot of actors trying for that role, but we had a very clear vision for the character so it was difficult to find someone matching that image. But when Joowan entered the room, we were immediately shocked: he was very tall and very cool looking. But at that day he could barely speak. We asked him whether he was nervous, but it turned out that he practiced the script for 2 weeks, 12 hours a day (from 10am to 10pm) before the audition, to the point of losing his voice. His passion was so impressive, and we thought that even if he ended up lacking somewhere, he'd be able to overcome it with this passion. That's how we decided to cast him.

We picked an actor for the role of Sangwon quite fast, too. The fans admit that all our actors fit the images of the original characters really well, and this actor (Minsu) matched a lot traits of Sangwon character in the original novel. Fierce/wild and manly, with a deep voice. Of course, his acting was good, too, so we chose him.

And finally, we didn't cast Woongki through audition. We made an offer to him instead. CEO said that there's this guy - even though he's an idol, he's been acting since he was a kid. So we contacted him and asked to meet us because we liked his image. Surprisingly, he was also very good at acting, his entertainment charms were a great help to match Kyunghoon's image too. Woongki is energetic and bright, but as we kept talking with him, we realized how solid/secure he was.

It felt like a fate to cast these actors in LFLS. Of course, there were difficulties but it all worked out perfectly.

Q. How would you brag about each actor?

Lee Taevin always prepares very diligently, and he's smart. So no matter the discussion, he receives feedback well. It's a lot of fun to work with him. The production team has to prepare more than actors, but he studied the source very passionately and kept saying "I want to try acting like this, what do you think about doing that?". I thought many times that he's a true actor who's overflowing with the passion.

When it comes to Joowan, like I said, he can practice for 12 hours a day. If he wants something, he'll do it even if his body breaks or if he's in pain. He won't even say anything - actually, there were many times when it broke our hearts. We kept telling him that he should speak up, it's okay to tell us (if he needs rest or something), but without any complaints, he worked until the work was done, that's what kind of person he is. That is very amazing of him. When someone is physically exhausted, inevitably there are things they won't be able to do but Joowan is the opposite – after finishing filming, he'd tell someone else how (badly) he made it through. Then we'd ask if he's okay, why didn't he say anything, but he'd go "No, I'm really fine!". His willpower is very strong, he's reliable.

Minsu has a great depth. He listens more than he speaks, thinks about details a lot and has many deep thoughts. I realized he studied Sangwon's character so much that he could talk about him in such depth. He contacted me a lot, even after script reading has just ended, he'd call and say "I had this thought on my way, what do you think?" And after we discussed, his memo app would be filled with a lot of notes. His depth and sincerity are his charms.

And Woongki has the most overflowing energy. Of course, other actors are energetic too but his vibe is just different. I thought that he might be the reason the four main actors were able to bond so well. And like I said, he has a great trait of being solid/secure. It might be a simple word to describe it but I mean he has amazing inner strength that can't be faked. When other actors struggle with their acting or emotions, he helped build them up. So beside just being cheerful, that's his biggest virtue.

Q. What was the most difficult during filming?

We had a lot of discussions with the cinematographer/operator. Since there's a lot of CGI in this project, we worried about how much we could actually film. And we thought a lot about how to visually convey all the complicated details of this fantasy story. We worked tightly with CG team but sometimes executing our ideas was difficult due to various restraints. I had a fear we wouldn't be able to deliver our ideas properly so we discussed everything a lot together with our teams. I think the result was good.

Q. What was the moment you enjoyed the most?

Preparing and post-production are fun but I enjoy shooting on set the most. You can immediately get feedback from everyone's energy, they give good or bad reactions. Creating something together is a lot of fun. And since our actors are good, when the scenes I imagined in my head came to life, it was extremely joyful.

Q. If you had to choose your favourite scene?

I really liked a lot the cut from episode 7 when Yeowoon says "I love you". I had a vision of this scene in my mind but reality was even better, so I thought this would definitely made viewers' hearts flutter.

I also love the scenes where the four characters are together. Even though the story focuses on Myungha's character and his relationship with Yeowoon, I actually love all four characters. So the scenes like one in the restaurant or rooftop when they grill meat have totally different energy. Comparing to the scenes with only Myungha or Myungha with Yeowoon, scenes with four characters together are full of complete joy. Even when shooting was hard and everyone was exhausted, filming those scenes was a lot of fun. If I had to pick one scene as a highlight, it'd be the one where four friends are eating meat together.

Q. What other parts of novel you'd like to put in a drama series?

Our characters are high school students, and usually at that period of life you mostly study. But since our story is about finding happiness, we removed a lot of studying scenes. But there were a lot of studying scenes in the original novel, like Myungha and Kyunghoon studying together, teaching Yeowoon and eating fruits. I thought such scenes could add one more spoon of sweetness to the drama.

Q. What are flaws and advantages of the novel and drama series?

I don't think none of them have flaws, both novel and drama complement each other. The novel, because of being just the text, relies a lot of reader's imagination and sometimes author's intention doesn't get delivered properly. And in the drama, we can visualize and show those messages more clearly. So I think both formats help each other.

And novel has scenes that we couldn't show in the drama, as well as more details for the emotional moments. Even fans say they can't choose one or another. This mutual supplement creates an effect of the loop.

Q. What did you try to bring to life the most from original novel?

We mentioned it during our group reaction to the series as well: I really wanted to bring to life the sunset scene. After I read the original novel, I had three key scenes that I definitely wanted to properly visualize. To the "world is changing" scene when main characters meet for the first time, we paid attention the most. Then, the final kiss at sunset in the ending. Since those were the beginning and end of the story, I wanted to open and close the story well so we focused a lot those scenes and had a lot of ambitions.

Q. Say a message for the actors.

Taevin, Joowan, Minsu, Woongki, every time I have to wrap things up with you, one phrase always comes to mind: "I'm always grateful to you, you did so well". I really want to say this to you guys. I was very happy to work with you on this project for such a long time, it was a very meaningful time. Thanks to you, Love Supremacy Zone received so much love and stayed in the hearts of many people. I believe you will become amazing actors – one day, one project, to anyone. I hope you will be happy in the future, thank you and I love you~ Let's be happy!

Q. Message to the fans who loved this series

First of all, thank you. I want to express my love as much as you've loved us. I think the biggest reason this project was completed was the love that you, fans, gave us. Without your love, we wouldn't even end up here, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Actors and staff think this way too. No but the sunbae characters acting in that final sunken place scene (in which he's wearing white). We've seen myungha, many call him the ideal protagonist. One who possesses all the characters you could want in a lead. Now imagine knowing tae myungha irl, being a friend or simply an acquaintance. Seeing how quickly yeowoon and sangwon got attached, it would probably take less than a week of knowing him, to get attached. Then, out of nowhere (from the outside at least, doesn't look like he had anyone to confide in) he passes. You get to know he walked into the sea. Gently and quietly. What kind of insurmountable inexplicable daunting grief would that invoke? Even if there wasn’t much of a ‘relationship’ in the sense of the word, how shaken up would you be? It would be hard to gauge for an outsider. The tremors will course through you, like the silent waves myungha was surrounded by, in his last moments. So, you decide to give him a happy ending. Through writing. Through art. It was that look. Senior's last look and final wish for myungha. To find happiness.

Hi! I’m Lee Sangwon (이상원).

I was born on May 8, 2003, in Seoul, South Korea. I’m a Taurus, born in the Year of the Goat—quiet but resilient, grounded yet full of imagination. I graduated from Hanlim Multi Art School in 2022, majoring in Practical Dance, where I learned not only movement, but discipline and patience. I began training under Big Hit Music around 2016. For years, I practiced quietly behind the scenes, and later became part of Trainee A in 2021. Even though our debut didn’t happen, those days taught me how to grow without applause, and to believe in progress even when it’s invisible.

After Trainee A, I kept training with the same passion, and in 2025, I officially joined GRID Entertainment. Now, I’ve returned to the stage through Boys II Planet. It feels like both a continuation and a new beginning. More than just performing, this time I want to show who I am—not only in choreography, but in the details of how I move, think, and exist. This stage is not just a dream revived, but a promise I made to myself—to keep going, no matter how quiet the path gets.

I’m an INFP, so I find depth in stillness and meaning in the small things. I like winter, black clothes, and the calm after practice. I take comfort in salmon sushi and French fries. Some random TMIs about me: I hate cucumbers with my whole soul, I sleep with socks on no matter the season, and yes—I once cried watching a cat video (no regrets). People say I give off “sleepy bear” energy, maybe because of my relaxed expression or the way I move through the world quietly. But that doesn’t mean I’m not fully awake in the things that matter.

You may have seen glimpses of me in BTS’s “Permission to Dance” music video or the film She’s Dating the Gangster. But this is where I begin to show myself fully. There is something about the way Sangwon hardly allowed the world around him have much of an impact on his demeanor that often had Kiyong brimming with envy. Perhaps the same could be said about him, however, with his endless bouts of unwavering optimism and ability to turn any situation into a solvable and positive one. The two of them worked because they acknowledged these facts about one another. It is why he can grin at Sangwon's suggestion rather than pouting — though, he will playfully whine. ( He sure did enjoy getting on his nerves just a bit. )

"Cliff dive... No way! I mean, that could be kinda fun, the more that I think about it. I don't think the pictures they'd get would be very flattering though," he starts chuckling to himself imagining his friend fight to keep a neutral expression while careening through the air on a bungee chord. "WAIT — An underwater one would be really fun, too... I guess doing really weird things while trying to 'serve face' is a pretty high level modeling challenge, though. We're not quite there yet!"

He finally slides into the seat adjacent to Sangwon with his own bowl, intentionally knocking his shoulders against his ever so slightly. "You don't have to get me anything to drink... but, is there lemonade? I really want some," he doesn't wait for the other to return to his own bowl before he decides to dig in, humming in approval at his own recipe. He even mutters something underneath his breath along the lines of 'Soo Kiyong, you are a genius'. "Quick, when you're pulling the drinks out, do a drink commercial. Sell me on the drinks!"

"Should we pretend to not know each other on the way back?" His delivery was quite straight-laced and paired with his neutral expression, but the corner of his lips twitch upwards into the faintest amused smile. He knew better than to be fully himself around other people, mostly masking and mirroring a stranger's demeanor, but he could be himself with Kiyong. Still, he felt like at times he should apologize afterwards and be clear that he was in fact joking. He knew Kiyong rarely let things get to him, but the man was the last person he would want to hurt inadvertently. It would feel like emotionally wounding a puppy, or child.

He would have to admit that he was having a difficult time interacting with the other workshop attendees. Kiyong's presence was comforting and pulled him out of the depths of his mind. His thumb had been restlessly pressing on the retractable plunger of a pen, stopping abruptly when his friend unleashes his train of thought onto his own railroad track. "How could you be too disinterested? I've never met anyone else as engaging as you, Kiyong."

"I think you can probably relax. I doubt they'll bury you in a coffin, or make you cliff dive..." He crosses his arms over his chest, leaning forward to read the prompt of their current assignment on the kitchen counter. "Now, a cliff diving photoshoot, wouldn't that be fun?" He suggests, turning to fully shift his focus on Kiyong and his egg peeling skills. He carefully inspects the bowl, turning the egg over to check for no eggshells. He wasn't doubting that Kiyong was thorough, but it was a habit that stuck since childhood. "Thank you for preparing ramyeon, Kiyong. I'll get us something to drink. What would you like?"

You open the door and the blond boy run inside in Naruto style towards your kitchen. "Im hungry! what you made to eat!" The child said as he checked the fridge. You immediately forgave him. After finishing eating you two went to cuddle in the couch. He talk to you about his day in the Hybe building. You listen to him quietly brushing his soft light brown hair with your fingers. Jay rested his head on your arm, his right arm in the back of your waist. His other free arm playing with your other free fingers as he talk to you. The two of you look so adorable together in the couch.

"weird." he jerks his chin towards it, frowning. maybe blade's onto something. "mechanics usually get touchy about their tools, don't you think?" @ HAERAN ---

he shakes his head a little at the mention of money, waving a hand. "i don't really care about the money. it's just a hobby, but that means i want it done right if i'm going to put my time into it." it's the truth, really, nothing he does is for the money, never has been. he's not in the need of it, and in lieu of the desire leaves the real crux of the issue, where his interests in who wins and loses lies within the reality of the race.

he blows smoke out of his mouth and tips the ashes at the end of it towards the ground, watches the embers glow orange until cold, gray ash is what falls, nods. "absolutely fucking nothing up there. it makes it too easy for assholes like this to rally up a fuck ton of them to do their bidding, like this one has." he watches idly as sin starts rolling the bike, and if he hadn't seen the way it raced he maybe wouldn't of known better, but he can tell that it doesn't have much left for it to go.

so he follows, a trail of smoke, lingering a bit to the side of him as he guides him back to where he had his bike. his gaze is discreetly cast to the side--- to the wasp and all of his followers, and they don't warrant any suspicions on his half that they're even paying attention to them. and they're there soon enough, sangwon had looked over here countless times, but not really lingered close enough to get a good look. he usually had other things to do then pay attention to the bikes.

"it might be a good idea, if they're going to start pulling shit like this. i would say it should be an official rule, but i don't really trust anyone to rally together a loyal group of people that couldn't be coerced either way depending on who they're rooting for, paid for it or not." he muses, and walks through the sand, noting the smudged out footprints of who'd been in and out of here, trying to make out the types of shoes, still idly smoking throughout the encounter.

he looks over to the toolbox sin points out and makes his way over, eyebrow raised. "if it's a good mechanic, yeah. if they left this here, then they're just fucking stupid." sangwon says, crouching down by the toolbox and holding the smoke between two fingers of his off hand as he opens the toolbox with the other, gloved grip revealing an incriminating sight.

sangwon laughs, despite himself. "they're just stupid. they left the nails in here." he says, and holds one of them up for sin to see. "does this look like what you got in your tire?" he shakes his head a little, there's odds and ends in there, a hammer and tape and pliers, and he lets the lid thud shut after he's done.

"maybe they thought they could get off with just saying the box is always here, you just rolled over a nail, got it stuck in there yourself. where was it positioned, again? could they claim that?" he remembers something about the back tire, but he didn't look at it well enough back when he first mentioned it, wants to look at it up close now that he's got something to compare it to.

sometimes he couldn't imagine how people have the thought process for these kinds of things and convince themselves it's foolproof, but then again, he'd seen so many cases, he isn't surprised at the supposed logic. there is an idle suspicion in the back of his head, though, at the sight of the toolbox so close. sin wouldn't sabotage his own bike to undermine another racer, would he? sabotage others just to frame him? why would he, when he still keeps winning?

he doesn't betray the thought by the expression on his mask, a wash of chamomile cream, considering moss green as he straightens back up to look closer. blames it on his own trained mind, to always consider every avenue before he reaches a conclusion, as far away as they may seem to be.

transfer student!sangwon glances at the dark green board where chalk marks lay, quizzically trying to make something out of the frankly terrible handwriting your literature teacher had left behind. when deciphering the squiggles and lines seemed to become impossible after a certain while, he slumps on his chair.

you take a notice, wondering if you should give him a helping hand since it was quite obvious how he was still new to his surroundings, not even having made a friend as of yet that he could hang around with. sympathising with him, you wordlessly take your notebook in your hand and scoot with your chair over to his side— it was convenient how you were seated right in front of him.

sangwon blinks owlishly, never expecting you to start a conversation with him all of a sudden. you give him a friendly smile, pointing at the incomplete notes on his open page, "hey, you can copy off of mine. no one really gets the way mr. han writes for a while until they get used to it, don't worry!"

"ah," he mumbles, "thanks."

you chuckle at his mild reaction, "it's okay, my pleasure! welcome to our class, by the way! i hope you'll like it here." and with the soft smile you give him, one that flips his stomach over, sangwon is truly convinced that maybe, this new school won't be that bad of a thing at all.

Love for Love's Sake | Things You Didn't Notice #6

Translations and comments for Episode 6 (I have ADHD don't come after me, I was too invested that I bingewatched episodes yesterday and now I need to rewatch the 3 and 4 to make thorough comments on the dialogues). I was prompted by @lurkingshan to pay more attention to the movie posters :D Please let me know your thoughts after!

At first, I wanted to say that the movie titles were translated (at least, in my version of subs) and there was nothing behind them beside obvious but I decided to research more and indeed found somewhat interesting things! (the post will be long so I'll pile screenshots together)

First thing we see – Myungha has agonizing thoughts about "I can't believe I am on a date with a teenager" next to the movie poster with an interesting title "The Guy Who Will Give a Kiss for 10 000 won"

This movie doesn't exist :D However! The title and poster style is clearly based on the old manhwa from ~2006 that's called "The Guy Who Will Give a Kiss for 5 000 won" (lmao they doubled MC's price that's inflation for you).

The note at the bottom of comic cover says "Top Secret Disclosure: Kissing Method" aka MC is the guy who promises to teach you how to kiss if you give him some money, and the same note is shown in the LFLS poster. I thought the guy on the poster looked similar to Myungha but I think they actually got Myunsoo (Sangwon role actor) to pose for this fake poster xD

Which leads me to the first thought that these posters were born out of Myungha's imagination – come on, we just got the scene between him and Yeowoon where they kissed for the first time and Yeowoon asked Myungha to give him time to practice and improve kissing (Myungha with his slightly better experience probably feels like a mentor with some "shady" intentions who eventually falls in love xD) Coincidence? I don't think so. (upd. but it's really hilarious that Sangwon is STILL in between of Myungha and Yeowoon's love and encouragingly teases them lol)

The second poster on the wall is also about a non-existent movie but before diving into that, here's how Yeowoon comes into the picture.

Two things: "Wonderful Ghost" huge poster on the wall behind him and the caption on the wall next to him.

In case you haven't paid attention, it says "If you come at four in the afternoon, I'll begin to be happy by three," which is a popular romantic phrase from The Little Prince that definitely reflects Yeowoon and Myungha's feelings at the moment, aww.

Meanwhile, Wonderful Ghost movie (also called as "The SOUL-mate") actually exists! But it's not new, it was released in 2018 and the story is about a guy done with his life after tragic events who becomes haunted by an energetic ghost that changes his life and mindset. (I did phrase this summary deliberately non-specific to make you feel another connection to the current story of LFLS.)

The caption on the poster also says, literally translated, "Let's do it together until the end of the world". This movie has other poster versions with other captions as Google shows but this is the version shown in Love for Love's Sake. Actually, while we're on the topic – I have no idea where "Love for Love's Sake" title came from, does anyone know? Someone in my previous posts speculated about the story based on this title but the Korean title of this series is "연애 지상주의 구역" ("Dating/Love Supremacy Zone", or just "Dating Zone") which is the term that comes up in alert whenever Myungha is close to Yeowoon.

Anyway, back to our zombies, gorillas and demons. The movie Myungha and Yeowoon actually went to watch on their date was "Zombie Gorilla VS Demon Crocodile". The caption on the poster says "Who will protect the world?"

Again, this movie doesn't exist. Why would they make such a point of showing Myungha crying? Well, Myungha explains it to Yewoon by himself.

"Well, it was the first time I see someone crying for a zombie gorilla." "Do you know how epic this movie is? The crocodile was actually an extraterrestrial. He met the gorilla here and joined him to save the world." "The plot is really strange." "It was very emotional."

Does it ring a bell? I don't think I need to add any words. Myungha = someone who came from another world and joined Yeowoon to save him and complete the game with happy ending. Myungha relates a lot and cries. I just find it funny thinking about how "The plot is really strange" and "You have a very strange taste" can be also said to all the viewers of LFLS (well, we all are very invested in this a bit confusing mysterious story as well, aren't we?xD)

I also love how we keep being reminded about the "unreality" of the story, how system can experience bugs and things in the world can glitch and Myungha is never immersed in this new life or his new love story to the 100% (cue all the 'choose anyone but me, go date a better man' and patronizing way he treats all characters around him, instead focusing on preventing them and the world from bad events following author's instructions)

I don't think I have much to add to the rest of the episode, I mirrored the haters articles and messages which were written for the show but the comments are quite generic hate-like (I couldn't read all of them but I didn't notice anything unusual). One thing, the IG DM to Myungha technically says "Die, Tae Myungha".

All I can say is that the online anonymous bullying is really prominent and a huge problem in Korea that leads to celebrities' depression and sometimes suicide. All influencers (and there are a lot of them in SK) are held to unimaginable 'perfect' standard and forums often have anonymous commenting which makes messages even more cruel (but later they addressed the issue and I think at least under news articles in Entertainment/Celebrity section the anonymous function was turned off, still, there are a lot of ways to ruin someone's life online). It happens in every country, of course, but stalking/online bullying is something that can be understood very easily by Koreans because it's often on the news and in the community.

Another little detail – even though Myungha does talk to students who are technically "younger" than him by one school year like he's old and wise, he doesn't use the word 'kid' nearly as much as you'd think xD (but the subs are doing the right thing anyway because how else are you supposed to show that subtle cultural difference between saying Cha Yeowoon and Yeowoon-ah, or Myungha calling Sangwoon by his name when he's frustrated with him instead of cursewords or titles?)

In the phrase "Get it together, kid!" Myungha actually uses the word 새끼 (saekki) which can be a curseword (like 'asshole, bastard', used by school gangster in previous eps) but it also literally means 'a child' that can be used by grandparents for their grandson or by parents, for example. So basically, think of 'son of a bitch' which can be used both as cursing and have literal meaning. Koreans have the same (개새끼 - son of a dog) phrase.

But it doesn't have an affectionate connotation when said by teenagers or adults (unless it's said to close friends without heat), and I am sure Myungha says it with more of "Get it together, you brat!" meaning. I just used this screenshot to teach you about Korean cursewords, he-he.

+ bonus: there is no translation or anything, but since we were talking about posters, I just found it funny and adorable how Yeowoon visually replaced here the poster behind him xD

you hug your knees tightly to your chest, refusing to look up at your saviour. it's funny because you're supposed to thank him, but you fear him more.

"i.. i never asked you to save me," you mumble incomprehensibly. you sneak a peek at him, watching him swipe his hair back multiple times in frustration. "god, you're so hard to deal with." you fully hide your face when sangyeon approaches.

his black leather shoes stop in front of your dirty sneakers. you feel something on your shoulders, making you look up to notice it was his suit jacket. sangyeon's face remained unscathed after he fought your abductor, contrary to his knuckles decorated with patches of broken skin.

you absentmindedly brush your fingers over his split knuckles, then retracting them back once you realise what you were doing. "you got anywhere to go?" sangyeon asks softly, carefully watching your expression.

shaking your head, you decide to just stare at your shoes. he sighs and slowly starts helping you up.

"well, in that case, i guess it's safe for you to come with me." you timidly meet his eyes. it made you feel uneasy not being to read the emotions in his eyes. "you don't mind? i mean, i only bring trouble."

to your surprise, sangyeon chuckles. "well, at least i know you'll be safe, love."
