Exhaustion only hits Kiyong's bones as his shift begins to draw to a close. He can be seen flitting about the place like the busy bee he is; long legs easily carrying him to every corner his presence is necessary. He is between completing a drink order for a young businesswoman with bags under her eyes when Sangwon finally shuffles his way over.
"You look like you got hit by a truck," he pauses, listening to the way his clothing shifts before he strands up straight and quickly huddles over to the espresso machine before the woman sends him a glare. "Why do I feel like a bartender listening to my patron's hard days?" And like any reasonable extrovert, he would find himself doing most of the talking between himself and his more reserved friend. "I think you did great, though. You're really amazing, Sangwon... Ah! I mean, she was pretty indecisive choosing a cookie so maybe it's just not for her. She'll figure it out on her own. You usually have good ideas, but... if you do suggest it, be less abrasive!"
Kiyong is, perhaps, honest to a fault. The words flow from him so naturally that he does not stop to double check or rethink anything. At least in this instance. Sangwon was hardly one to take offense to his bold approach at life. He shoots the gloomy young man a reassuring grin from above the glass and leans away to hand off the drink. It isn't too long before he is queuing up one for him, however.
"And to answer your question... I think the recommended caffeine intake is 400ml per day, but... sometimes we deserve to live life on the edge, don't you think?" He presses the espresso shot button five times.

His friendship with Kiyong had begun out of mutual survival. Till this day, he didn't understand how a group project of five students ended up with only the two of them presenting. After a semester ended, he had the reputation of never following up with fellow classmates, especially when there was no clear overlap in majors. However, Kiyong had quickly become ingrained in his life. The two of them couldn't be any more different. It was akin to a golden retriever befriending a black cat. His presence was comforting to the point that he sought it out rather than being passive like he was with most of his relationships.
He had been roped into tutoring his juniors during his senior year. Instead of charging them, he would use Kiyong's family cafe, Tangerine, as his meeting ground and encourage them to purchase food during the tutoring sessions. Not only was everything on the menu delicious, but their hospitality was unmatched. It was the least he could do to support his friend's family. After his third tutoring session of the day, he stands to stretch his limbs. His vision was becoming blurry, but the pounding headache probably had something to do with it. He was thankful that was his last session for the rest of the week.
"How many espresso shots can one person drink without dropping?" He asks Kiyong, leaning against the counter in a defeated pose. "I need at least more than two. I think I kept my cool there, right? I was so close to suggesting she changes her major..."
