Gosh i love the hc of the Fatui agents have a dedicated Fatui guide/handbook about each of the Harbingers 🤣 ngl it breathes a ton of fun stuff to think about.

For example, that one with Dottore having a sweet tooth (thx to his s/o for that info) and now everyone starts bringing some candies with them whenever they got assigned to him is probably the funniest one yet 😂😂

Also, i believe each of those handbooks have different size and pages according to which Harbingers on the front cover. I think Capitano probably have the least amount of pages, since he treats his subordinates well and then both Dottore and Sandrone probably have lots of pages, since.. you know.. they like to experiment on their own subordinates, etc. 💀. Also idk why, the more i think about it, the more it feels like these handbooks is like a "Survival Handbook" for the Fatui- 💀

AHAHA ME TOO!! It really just gives a lot of brain rot, and it's funny to think about how each generation passes on the book to the next new recruits and stuff just keeps getting added. (A lot thanks to you. You have a habit of accidentally exposing them, don't you?)

Dottore and his segments will probably never recover from your little slip-up. At some point, they have to accept the new ways of the Fatuis, not just for them, but also because the agents like to offer sweets to you as well to show their respect. And you love that! Free food! Just don't think you can get out of every situation with a mere piece of candy...

Capitano definitely has the least pages regarding rules, but the longest pages as to why the recruits love him so much. He is highly respected after all, his soldiers could go on and on about how great of a leader he is. Some of these reasons were also provided by you as well - (Lord Capitano is an animal person. Lord Capitano feeds the stray cats and dogs of any nation. Lord Capitano helped a lost bird return to its nest. These facts are a courtesy of [Name].)

Ah Sandrone... the agents know you as the only one she doesn't have a bad temper with all the time. The one who knows how to prepare her tea the way she likes it and how to set the sweets on the table in the proper manner. She doesn't bother hiding her like for tea parties. She just really doesn't care what others think. (A big rule in her handbook is that if Lord Sandrone asks you to prepare her something, it's best to seek [Name] out first so you do it the correct way. Or risk failure. And then risk pain.]

It definitely doubles as a survival booklet, especially if you happen to work under Scaramouche... (the biggest rule - please fetch [Name] if you think Lord Scaramouche is about to electrocute someone.)

Making another part for the other harbingers bc im really sleepy rn and I just wanna give you guys something because I havent posted in a long time.

You had met Zandik when he was a scholar at the Akademiya, before he was expelled for his crimes and immoral acts. Fortunately, unlike the last girl who had fancied him, Sohreh, he did not mutilate your body, because somehow in that rather small and close to non existing heart of his, was you.

But unfortunately, you could not escape his unhinged mindset. You relied too much on the Akasha System. When he did get expelled, you followed with him. After all, thats what the Akasha showed which was best for you. Hundreds of years went by, and he became a powerful harbinger. He still gave you freedom, to some extent. So how did you wind up at his office, crying and drunk?

"Zandik" You cried.

You were ultimately weak in the mind due to your heavy dependency that Dottore had created for you. He smiled as you cried into his shoulder, dampening his clothes.

"Yes dear? What happened for you to come crying to me?" He was your white knight.

You quickly learned that somehow, dottore would always save you, relieving you of your agony. Like he did with the ruin machines when they found Sohreh's body.

"O-one of your clones said you didn't love me and you had another woman…" you hiccup in between your words.

"My dear, do not fret, there are no other women in my life besides you. Why would I require someone else? Those clones can be quite troublesome, and not all of them are friendly. I apologize for their behavior." He soothed you, patting your back. 'Yes, yes...let it all out,' he thought. His clones were doing well, their original sole purpose was to create insecurities and confusion in your mind.

"But-But, I'm not even that pretty, even you're prettier than me! Theres plenty of women who are better than me-what if you dont love me one day?" You mumble, your head still lying on his shoulder.

"Darling, I have to say, I am surprised by your irrational behavior. My affection for you is undeniable, and the fact that you would suggest otherwise is quite hurtful..." Your eyes widened.

Oh, how could you hurt him like that?! After everything he's done for you?...

"No-no! I'm sorry I didn't mean to hurt you, I-"

"Do you trust me [name]?" He cuts you off.

"Huh? Of course I do!"

"Good, now please can we move on? If we continue to talk about this, my heart will ache even more." He starts to make an expression that he knows will make you feel guilty. You've really fallen deeper into the rabbit hole now.

Columbina had saved you at your lowest, and you had devoted your every fiber of yourself to her. You decided to get stronger, your sole motivation being paying back your benefactor. Well, that was until the angel-like harbinger said you could pay her back by forming a relationship with her.

You did start off as friends, but that slowly spiraled into a more intimate relationship. You promised to be there for her whenever and wherever, but really, does the harbinger who's ranked third really need protecting?... I mean, you're so much weaker than her, how can you protect her when she's in danger?

That thought slowly grew in your mind-you can't help but just let it all out when drunk on the fine vodka Columbina had brought back for you and her to enjoy...until well, you drank the whole bottle.

You stared at the empty bottle in your hand that once held the highest quality of vodka.

"[name], my dear, what's on your mind?" Columbina spoke softly, her voice sounding like a lovely melody in your ears.

"Mmmm...I don't wanna bother youuu..." You dragged out your words, slurring your speech.

Columbina stood up from the couch and took the bottle out from your hands and gently placed it on the glass coffee table, making a small 'kling' sound. She sat back down and held your hands, which were rather cold so she decided to warm them up.

It was strange how she always kept her eyes closed, but no matter what always aware of her surroundings. This only increased your insecurity, after all, only one with great strength could do such things...and you couldn't.

"[name]." She let go of your hands and placed hers on your cheek, and kissed you softly. "Your thoughts will never be a bother all right? I'll always be there to protect you and be by your side." She smiled at you warmly.

You started to cry, the alcohol heightening your emotions. "That's-that's the thing!" You let out a sob, wiping your tears. "I-I don't want to just rely on you, I want you to rely on me too! But, I'm so much weaker than you and, and you excel in everything! You're smart, strong, independent, and so, so much prettier than me and everyone, you deserve so much better than me I-" Your rant was cut short when Columbina kissed you again softly.

"Oh, [name], I never knew you felt this way, I want you to know that I rely on you every single day, there is not a single moment where I don't rely on you. I know you probably don't believe it, but you make me feel so happy. I don't care if you think that I outshine you, because in my eyes you're the most beautiful and amazing person in the entirety of Teyvat. You're perfect in my eyes just the way you are, and no one else can take that spot." Her voice really soothed you, and as she spoke, you stopped crying.

"R-really? You mean it?..." You sniffled, wiping your tears off your face.

"Yes, now please, there's no need to cry anymore alright?" she kissed your forehead and held you in a warm embrace on the couch.

"Mhm…alright, thank you, I love you…" You rubbed your eyes, tired from crying and fell asleep in Columbina's arms.

Once you were sound asleep, Columbina picked you up, carrying you in her arms bridal style and set you gently on the bed, making sure you're comfortable before crawling into the bed and cuddling with you.

The next day, you woke up, eyes puffy and not a single memory of last night. When you asked your lover, she just giggled and walked away, leaving you confused.

Sandrone was an interesting character. When you first met, you had actually died. Well more like on the verge of death. Somehow, for some reason, she had saved you, as she had basically turned you into part automaton.

You were supposedly her 'puppet', but, puppets don't act this human. You were crazy for confessing your love to her, the harbinger who was known for only caring about her own works, and having a god awful personality to come with it.

Well, fortunately for you, you did count as one of her works, so perhaps that was the reason why she accepted your confession and you two started being in a relationship?...you still couldn't wrap your mind about this, you were really happy to say the least.

Today, you had practically begged her to come with you to have a picnic and stargaze. She was being quite stubborn. But of course, she couldn't outmatch your own stubbornness and you, thus she gave in.

You were so excited, yet here you were, sitting on the blanket, extremely drunk. You smiled at her, all giggly and bubbly as you wrapped yourself around her arm, hugging her.

Sandrone sighed and frowned, she stopped her work just for this? I mean, it was you... (She'd never admit to loving spending time with you, she's gotta keep her reputation up... but everyone knows, even you, that she has an extremely soft spot for you (and only you.))

"[name]...quit staring at me like that!" sandrone flicked your forehead, earning an 'owwww' from you.

After recovering from the ferocious attack, you laughed and smiled. "But you're just sooooo pretty! I can't keep my eyes off you, the prettiest girl in Teyvat!"

You lowered your voice to a whisper "I think you're prettier than me, all the other harbingers, and the Tsaritsa- Ow!"

She slapped the back of your head. "I will not allow you to speak of her majesty the Tsaritsa like that, [name]!"

She crossed her arms and turned her head away from you, looking angry.

Although, her words seemed to contradict her statement just now. She spoke quietly under her breath, "plus, youre the most prettiest girl in Teyvat, [name]..."

You perked up, perhaps having heightened senses was a good thing. "I heard that!" You shouted and smiled. "You really think that-"

"W-what?! No! You must be imagining things!" She yelled back at you. "Damn it, I shouldn't have heightened your sense of hearing too! Ugh!"

All you did was laugh teasingly at her frustration and embarrassment getting caught being nice, specifically to you. Until you blacked out from the alcohol. That reallllllllyyyy freaked her out, as she frantically carried you back home. (Well, the only reason she showed her 'nicer' side was really due to the only witness being her modified automaton.)

You had slept for a whole day before waking up at noon, with a god awful hangover, causing you to throw up.

(Sandrone ordered one of her machines to take care of you in secret and report to her every hour about your status.)

Sandrone Headcanon - III

"Haah... Some Harbinger I am..."

This one comes from an interpretation of Wanderer's voice line about how "all Sandrone creates is garbage." So, I thought about what exactly is garbage to him, and since he is a sentient puppet (with an ego), I assume what would be beneath him would be mechanical beings that lack any sentience.

But this is the fun part, it is my belief that Sandrone CAN create beings with sentience; during her "childhood," she learned about what connections needed to be made in the robotic brain to achieve sentience, but she chooses not to.

Because even if you are a thinking creature doesn't mean you have a good standard of living. Even in herself, there are aspects of the human experience that she is yet to replicate, like the sense of touch. It is hell. Alain brought her into a world she can only see and hear, but never feel, and she refuses to repeat his mistakes.

But there are times where she thinks about it.

Where the whole world cheers her name, the revolutionary genius, FAR greater than that rotten artificer, Alain Guillotin. It was HER hands that built herself, not his.

But she tells herself that sentient beings are much harder to control than simple machines. What she actually knows is if she brought her machines to life experiencing the same hell as she does, she couldn't forgive herself. So she is trapped between being better than her creator technologically or being better than him morally.

Her co-workers are unaware of her moral debate, regarding her with disinterest or disdain. (Except Columbina, she's an outlier.) The thoughts always return, imagining their shock at her hidden genius and her soaking it in with smug pride. But it must remain hidden. Any compliments would be short-lived, this she knows. It will always be about what is next. So she retreats into her workshop, where she improves her creations or her own flesh indefinitely.

As I got to work on the background and the table, my face became like Sandrone's lol. Rendering is a fuck.

I'm happy to be done with it, I did just finish it this morning, so I'll probably feel more proud of it later.

Also I love Limbus Company, so I made it in that style kinda. That is what the little bit on the bottom is about. I realize that I'll need to refine the icon later, and also make it just 3 colors instead of rendering, but for now I'm done.

I do love Limbus Company so much. To be honest, I fell off Genshin before Fontaine happened, then I played HSR, and now I've fallen off of that in favor of Limbus. I am taking notes from Project Moon when thinking about Sandrone's writing, because its writing is truly zenith material.

winter time is here, and is tradition, time to exchange gifts with people they hold dear. what would the feared (warranted) fatui harbingers give their loved one?

harbingers x reader (minus pierro, la signora, and scaramouche) pulcinella is platonic 1.25k words; yandere undertones for some (they are harbingers) i do not condone yandere behavior

pierro is off at the moment, but he will send you one soon (aka i don't know how to write for him)

il dottore, no.2

the doctor would give you an invention of his. if you wanted to, he'll even gift a segment of him to you, they would appreciate it. but the gift he would most want to give you is an immortal body, so you could stay with him. he is an expert at biological matters, like his segments and collei… he would modify your body to never die, he would even make more bodies for you. if you die, you could just have another body. that would be his definition of staying with him forever and his solution to your mortality. on the other hand, the segments would gift you different things based on various periods of dottore's life. one might give you a mechanical bird while another might gift you a mindless servant, a former fatui member you've seen around.

columbina no. 3

columbina's gifts would be quite sincere and innocent. she'll give you a pretty white dove in a golden gilded cage and say, "look at this! it's so pretty, right my dove?" you should love her gifts, they're so pretty and she picked them out, all for you. she'll give you the same accessories as her own, such as her trademark lace blindfold and the feathers behind her head. or she gifts you things that she thinks resemble you, like the dove, or maybe a cute cat with a nice collar on it. she'll cuddle you and sing songs as you sleep, her eyes tracing the collar on your neck, matching your beloved cat's, with bell and all.

il capitano no. 4

the captain's gifts are clumsy, but sincere. he would pick whatever best he can think of for you (from his side). what would you get from him? a weapon, of course. for a non-combatant. he'll spend hours contemplating, observing you, to see which weapon would be better for you, can you use a bow or do you have the strength to swing a sword around. hey, maybe not the best gift for the holidays, but it's sincere from his side. his mindset is very combat-oriented. of course, he is one of the most effective combatants for the tsaritsa. he thinks that you should be prepared to battle, no matter when or where. better to be ready. he tries to teach you how to fight, to protect yourself. who knows who would come after you..

pulcinella, no. 5

pulcinella, the mayor of the nation. he would have the most heartfelt gifts, after childe. he has experience with gifts, as he always gives them to tartaglia's family and takes care of them, even if childe is too oblivious to realize the very obvious hostage situation. pulcinella would treat you like his granddaughter, he would gift you a scarf to keep you warm and money to keep you afloat. his financial support has helped you a lot. all he asks of you is to keep in close contact with him, which is an easy request for you. his old age and experience in the fatui have caused him to want someone close to him and someone he can spoil. just don't worry about a few fatui soldiers cruising across your small town, looking for a few "threats" that have tried to harm you..

scaramouche, no. 6

this seat has been left vacant for centuries. how could somebody give a gift to you if they didn't exist?

"hmm? there used to be one? i can't seem to remember."

sandrone, no. 7

this girl only works on her puppets and machines most of the time, so don't expect much gifting-wise. she wouldn't give you food or clothes, she would give you a mechanical invention of hers, but not her unfinished works. no, her most polished puppet, made with the best materials and tuned to perfection, will be given to you. like dottore, don't expect heartfelt gifts. these two run purely on logic and what is most practical to gift to you, which for sandrone, is her specialty field. as a plus for sandrone, this was a good time to test the puppet she made to see if it needed any improvements or if it works well. Her gift is programmed to watch you and report your movements at all times. it is a test run of a new surveillance robot she's been working on…

la signora, no. 8

"the fair lady? she should be deceased, so she can't give out presents unlesss.. you have a way to manifest her back into the world."

pantalone, no. 9

known as the richest man in snezhnaya, so of course, he would only have the most decadent gifts picked out for you. he might be the living incarnation of "i'll buy everything from here to here" and point from the start of the shelf to the very edge. there'll be the biggest diamond you've ever seen, inlaid on an indent in the center of a gorgeous silver necklace. he'll have the entire collection of famous designers from liyue, mondstadt, or any other nation. or you'll find yourself with a little coat, made of what seems to be the fur of a white fox, only for pantalone to inform you it's a mythical beast, and it is like the one stolen that was to be gifted to the tsaritsa. money is best spent on the most valuable individuals, whether to cherish them, chain them down, or both. he's spent so much on you, so stay with him.

arlecchino, no. 10

this woman is quite the piece of work. described as "there isn't a sane bone in her body", she is surprisingly… sweet to you? you don't know what you did, but you somehow fell in love. she wouldn't know much about gift-giving, but she does have some experience picking out gifts for the children of the "house of the hearth". the knave would give out sentimental but practical gifts, something like a comb or a hairpin, something of very high value, emotionally and materially. she would pick something you could use in everyday life or wear on yourself that she could see. like pantalone, she likes seeing you in things she's bought, but with a different motive for it. it signals that you are hers. you'll be the only one that allows her to show her darker side, so in exchange, you should stay hers, right? you'll be the only one to not disappear when you see her dark side.

tartaglia, no. 11

tartaglia would get you warm and heartfelt gifts. whether it be a batch of cookies made by his family or a warm scarf personally knitted by his mother or even himself (he would learn to knit for you). if childe did not get you some kind of gift like the above, he would use his saved-up mora to buy you something luxurious or comfortable, like nice coats and delicacies imported from other nations. he can do at least that much. while not as wealthy as pantalone, he is still immensely wealthy. he is very empathetic and would know what to gift you, it's a skill you acquire when you have to get gifts for a whole family. that extends to you, you are his second home, and he'll be damned if he doesn't spoil you. he shall cherish you, just like how he cherished his family after his near-death experience in the abyss. another little gift, he'll protect you with everything he's got, just like the icy grave of a certain aggressor buried in the thick snow who thought that he could fell the battle-hungry childe with his beloved.

hello hello~ I have far to many head cannons for the Fatui so I limited it to 3 per person :} I put them in order of my favorites ehe~

Dottore: his mother taught him how to draw when he was young, all of his notes are filled with sketches of what he's studying, when he was young he wanted to be a baker he still bakes when he gets the chance

Pierro: he keeps his office pristine at all times to the point that the servants have stopped trying to clean it, he has a grand piano that horribly out of tune he refuses to have it tuned, if someone needs to find him they always check his office first he's either there or in a meeting with the Tsaritsa

Capitano: if he's not in the training grounds he's in the library, he has a soft spot for dogs (he probably owns at least one), has an extensive skin care routine even though nobody can see his skin

Sandrone: she has so many glass display cases filled with custom dolls, made dolls for all of the other harbingers when she's upset with them she drowns their doll, sews all of her own clothes

Pulcinella: 100% has a live laugh love sign that Tartaglia gave him as a joke that he treasures, knows everything if something happened you can bet he already knows, always has candy on him his pockets are full of werther's and strawberry bon bons

Columbina: she can perfectly mimic the sound of birds singing, grows all kinds of poisonous flowers for tea, immune to natural poisons

Pantalone: he can copy someone's signature after seeing it once, makes large anonymous donations to restaurants he likes, has 2 file cabinets for all of Dottore's funding requests

Tartaglia: he can come up with stories on the spot for his little siblings, can backflip and shows it off every chance he gets, his office is a mess but he nows where everything is

Signora: bought an entire makeup company because they discontinued her favorite blush, she had a walk-in closet for her shoes alone, had a massive sweet tooth

Arlecchino: tried makeup once under Signora's pressuring almost killed her when she saw herself in the mirror, uses contacts because one of the kids at the orphanage broke her glasses once, hates how sticky kids get so she made a rule that the kids at the orphanage have to wash up before they touch anything

Scaramouche: has 3 of the same hat incase one of them breaks, would fight Tartaglia as an excuse to beat around a fellow harbinger, also really good at coming up with stories on the spot

Oh my friend I would be So Glad to tell you.

Essentially, the basis of the AU is Kaveh is kidnapped by Dottore when he’s about 5, dies, and his soul is used as the basis of a new soul.

The soul is basically too big to fit in a puppet body, and would need about 5 to fit comfortably.

Dottore has Sandrone make 10. When she asks him what the base soul’s body looked like, he lies.

Kaveh wakes up, remembering nothing after he first saw Dottore, feeling oddly empty, and looking far too different to convince anyone of who he is.

(Dottore and Sandrone placed the bits of soul with the memory of being experimented on, as well as parts that held the emotions, in the other puppet bodies.)

All the fragments except our fragment know that they are puppets, that they are spies, and that they serve the Fatui. Our fragment as no idea how he got here, why he looks like this, or why his feelings are stunted.

Dottore finds him, and removes him from Sumerian city. He then abandons Kaveh in a run-down area.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) for Dottore, Kaveh keeps discovering he is a puppet.

Dottore wipes those memories, and the memories of transferring him to an older-looking body so he doesn’t get suspicious. Dottore gives the memories to Sandrone, who sighs, sticks them in a new puppet, and gives the puppet its orders.

Eventually, Dottore decides that he’s gotten tired of wiping Kaveh’s memories, and lets him discover that he is a puppet.

Kaveh is 12 years old.

He is finally given his mission:infiltrate the Akademiya.

And from there, we proceed as canon does, with the added caveat that Kaveh is reporting to the Fatui, until 5 years before the Archon quest.

Dottore summons him. He is told to return with him to Snezhnaya.

Kaveh does as he is told. He has no reason to not trust Dottore.

When he arrives, a new puppet is shown. Dottore forces him to let go of his body. He does as he is ordered. He’s done it many times before.

He feels the connections of the other parts of his soul as he enters the newest puppet. He sees his old body collapse on the ground. Disconnected, he notes how it always feels a bit unsettling to see them collapse.

He closes his eyes, and he feels the connections again. This is his new ‘main’ body. But there’s a problem. Kaveh doesn’t want to leave Sumeru.

He has a life there. He has friends there. In his life, masquerading as someone dead is the happiest he ever is. Kaveh doesn’t want to think about what that means.

Fortunately for him, the Tsaritsa is capable of kindness. She allows his Kaveh identity to remain functioning. A ‘long-term assignment’, she calls it.

Kaveh knows what this will mean. He’ll have to scrape and scrounge for time as Kaveh, to not let that puppet remain on autopilot forever. But he dies not dare argue with his Archon.

Brighella, 10th of the Fatui Harbingers, agrees.

That’s really all I have for a cohesive story so far, but I do have snippets!

He tries so hard to be a good person as Kaveh because it’s his only opportunity to be a good person, no repercussions.

He refuses to contact his mother both because he doesn’t want to bother her, and because too him, her son is dead, and why would she want to talk to him?

He clings to architecture because he loves it, and he knows he won’t get much of it when the Tsaritsa needs him.

Alhaitham knows that he’s a puppet, and that he works with the Fatui. He hasn’t said anything. He doesn’t ever plan on saying anything.

Also for Silliness Purposes: sometimes when Kaveh’s had a long day, and Mehrak beeps at him, he’ll just. Beep back.

Kaveh can remotely control the puppets with his soul fragments from his ‘main’ body, as well as enter them. He needs to reenter the ‘main’ body to go to a different body, though.

D4DJ Voice Actor's and Headcanon Voice Actors.

This will be a little different than my usual VA headcanon posts because this will actually feature both canon AND headcanon VA's from this series.

The only instance where D4DJ has been dubbed in English is the first season of the anime, which primarily featured Happy Around, Peaky P-Key and Photon Maiden, and while the other units made cameos and had voiced scenes, they didn't really get the spotlight. I wanted to include all the characters in the post though, because I very quickly fell in love with this series and the storylines, and characters sing to me, pun not intended.

summary: a failed mission sets dottore off, just not in the way you might’ve expected--the doctor cares for no one but himself and his research, not even his own segments, so why was he so incensed at the fact that you were hurt?

warnings: no warnings, really, reader a bit anxious over just failing a mission and a small wound. just some hurt/comfort (??) with dottore. not rlly sure what to label it.

“You’re upset.”

You looked away at the statement--there was no sort of empathy or worry behind his words, it was a simple observation, a fact, nothing more, nothing less. He barely bothered to look at you as he spoke, engrossed with the vial in his hands. If you didn’t know any better, you would say he didn’t care at all. 

If you didn’t know any better.

He wouldn’t have acknowledged it at all if that were the case.

“I’m not,” you said after a moment, clearing your throat and smoothing your palms over your pants twice before picking at your cuticles, a nervous habit that you couldn’t seem to break. 

“... and now you are lying.”

You grit your teeth together, ignoring Dottore’s words as you became frustrated with one cuticle that would just not peel off. You let out a shaky breath, bringing your finger to your mouth, going to rip it off with your teeth instead, but a hand curled around your wrist before you could--grip firm and unmoving even as you tried to pull your hand away. 

Reluctantly, your gaze drew upward to where Dottore was now standing in front of you, staring down at you unamused and unimpressed. “What happened?” he asked again, and you noticed that he had placed the vial down, averting all of his attention to you as he waited for you to explain. 

And you wanted to explain, you really did, but you couldn’t. You couldn’t bring yourself to admit that you had failed the one mission that you had been given, not to Dottore. You were already trying to brace yourself for the punishment that would come from Pantalone at your failure. So you kept your mouth shut, turning your face away from him as you waited for him to lose interest and go back to his research.

You should have known better.

You felt two fingers grab your chin, not hard enough to bruise by any means but also not gently. Dottore turned your head back toward him, tilting your face up and forcing you to look at him. You kept your gaze averted but you could feel the way he was searching your face for answers, trying to piece together on his own what happened. Sometimes you really hated how smart he was. 

“Your mission went poorly,” Dottore finally spoke up--it was a statement but also a question, he was waiting for your reaction to see if he had deduced it correctly. And you couldn’t help the way your throat spasmed as you tried to swallow back the sob--you had never been one to handle failure well, ever since you were a kid. “I see.”

Dottore let go of your face and you snapped your head to the side, turning away as you tried to blink back the tears that were building too rapidly for you to control. He didn’t speak again as he moved back to his lab table, picking the vial back up and watching it absently before placing it on a burner. 

“What happened?” he questioned as he put away some of his tools, walking to the other side of the room where he had several other vials displayed.

Breathe in, breathe out.

“Pantalone sent me to the Natlan border--to Apavny--to pick up some materials for Sandrone. It was, um, supposed to be a simple mission, not even leaving the homeland-” your voice cracked, your hand went to your side as pain shot through your abdomen at the reminder. You noticed how Dottore was now looking at you sharply from the corner of his eye, waiting for you to continue--you tried to hide the way you were holding your side, “Natlan has been getting more aggressive, we knew that, I just didn’t think-”

“They attacked you,” there was an odd tone to his voice, tight and unfriendly, as he placed the final vial back in the burner and turned to look at you. You weren’t sure you had ever heard him take a tone other than the low drawl he usually spoke in. 

“They got the materials-” you tried to continue, confirming his suspicions that you had failed the mission, but apparently that hadn’t been what he was leading to.

“You’re hurt.”

You faltered as you forced yourself to look back up at him, catching the way his jaw was taut and the way his eyes were trained solely on you, waiting for you to speak but you weren’t sure what he wanted you to say. Instead, you only shook your head.

“It’s only a flesh wound,” you said quietly. “It’ll be-”

Your voice hung off when you noticed the livid expression that had crossed Dottore’s face, it was only for half a second but you had caught it and you couldn’t help the way you hesitated. He was angry? But why?

Dottore didn’t speak again, returning his attention to the lab table, and you noted that instead of moving to continue his research, he was now putting the vials and materials away. His movements were still as smooth and graceful as usual, but each time he shut one of his drawers, it was a bit harder than necessary, the bang nearly making you flinch.

Was he mad at you? You couldn’t tell and any question you might’ve had to ask him died on the tip of your tongue as soon as you opened your mouth to ask him. The moments he spent putting away his tools and materials were long and agonizing, an anxiety building in you that you had never felt before. Dottore wouldn’t hurt you, you knew that--he might not care for anybody but himself but he had always favored you the most of everyone within the Fatui, even above the other Harbingers and his own segments.

What if your failure ruined it? The disappointment enough reason for him to cast you aside? You had never understood why he favored you, you figured it was because he saw potential in you and now, with your failure, you-

You hadn’t even realized he had come to stand in front of you, lifting one hand to your jaw again to tilt your face up toward his. Your cheeks were wet, you hadn’t even realized you were crying and Dottore hated weakness, any sign or mention of it had him mocking and cruel. “I’m sor-” you tried to say, voice cracking despite your strongest attempts to keep it steady.

“You said this happened in Apavny?” he asked, voice low and quiet and tense, but the grip he had on your jaw was gentle this time--he was never gentle with you, not while he was training you, now while he was trying to teach you about his research, he was always cold and sharp and unforgiving.

You nodded as best you could with the grip on his jaw. 

“You did the best you could,” he said after a moment. “I’ll take care of it from here.”

You were at a loss for words as you stared up at him but Dottore didn’t linger. His hand dropped from your face, the cold expression returning as he turned to grab his cloak from where it was hanging several feet away, shrugging it on before fastening his mask on. 

“Dottore, they’re probably long gone,” you tried to tell him, taking a few steps toward him but you froze when he turned his head over his shoulder to look at you--you couldn’t see his eyes from behind his mask and it had always unnerved you because you could never how he was feeling.

He didn’t even bother to respond to you, pushing the doors to the lab open and leaving without another word, leaving you standing there reeling, trying to figure out what had just happened.

Hours later, he returned, blood still splattered on his cloak and face, the box of materials you had failed to retrieve snug in his arms. His lips were tight and flat, and his eyes were still covered by the mask, you couldn’t tell what he was thinking. 

He didn’t speak as he pushed the box into your own arms, not until he had already passed by you. “Bring it to Pantalone, tell him you retrieved it.”

Your mouth was dry as you stared down at the box, confused and trying to push away the rising emotions. You spun around to look at him but he didn’t even bother to look back as he walked back down the hall toward his lab.

“Dottore,” you called, watching as he paused midstep, waiting for you to continue. “Why?”

He didn’t answer, and you supposed you should have expected that. Instead, he waited for a moment before continuing down the hall, leaving your question hanging heavy in the air between the two of you as you stared down at the box with an oddly warm feeling in your chest, wondering what this all meant.

Introducing: All of Dottore's clones

notes: a list of all 24 dottore segments. they're all a little weird. some are lovable. some have names and some just have their segment number. in my particular Dottore Cinematic Universe, Prime Dottore stopped his aging process at 35.

Segment 1 (20): Webtoon Dottore. The youngest out of all of them. Terrible mood swings. He's a little like what happens when you poke a Rishboland Tiger with a stick. Will waste resources on pointless whims like making machines or chimeras out of people. Dresses like a clown. Chaotic energy ×100

Segment 2 (24): Zandik. Goes by his original name and was created during the height of Dottore's Akademiya days. He has edgy delinquent energy. Built a motorcycle out of ruin parts. Lots of broke student vibes. Swears the most out of all of them. Tsundere. Will tell you you're annoying but sigh and buy you something you like and share his food with you. Likes to be held.

Segment 3 (26): Three. Created during a mental breakdown after Dottore got expelled from the Akademiya and banished to the desert. He has clinical depression and cries a lot. He likes to hug people. The other segments hired a therapist specifically for him because he keeps disturbing the Hivemind. Likes when things are peaceful. Despite denying it, the others care about him and try to protect him a little. Three also runs the memory archive of all the segments and is the lab's secretary. He organizes all the research documents.

Segment 4 (27): The others just call him Four. He was made in the Eleazar hospital while Dottore was banished to the desert and starting to infiltrate that hospital. He's the survival expert of the Dottoreverse. He's only been to Snezhnaya a couple of times as he's still in the desert researching ancient civilizations and ruin machines. Knows how to survive in any harsh environment and he regularly sends Prime Dottore research reports. He lives in the ruin golem that shoots at you when you get too close. He could probably build a bomb out of a coconut and a couple of straws. Has muscles like Al-Haitham because he does a lot of physical work.

Segment 5 (28): Usually just called Five. Also made in the Eleazar hospital. This one's the actual doctor of the group. He heals the experimental subjects (if they survive) and tends to their psychological wellbeing after Prime Dottore fucked them up. He's like a weirdly fucked up Baymax. No one knows if he actually cares about his patients but he makes no move of defying Prime Dottore. He does however call them patients instead of subjects or specimen.

Segment 6 (30): Also just referred to as Six. He was the first one Dottore created after joining the Fatui. He was made when Dottore was experimenting with making physical enhancements to humans. Six is 2,5m tall, buff and has incredible physical strength. He doesn't really have a cognitive self-awareness though. He's a large, buff clone just fulfilling orders.

Segment 7 (31): Seven is the result of an experiment in which Dottore tried to enhance the human body using machinery. He's basically a cyborg twink. It's really hard for him to eat because one of his hands is a drill. He's very insecure about his body. Loves to read books. Struggles to hold the books.

Segment 8 (32): Eight is an exact copy of 32-year old Prime Dottore. He was made to assist with experiments or replace Prime when the latter has business to attend. His personality is the same as regular Dottore.

Segment 9 (33): Nine is the engineer of the Dottoreverse. He creates new machines for the experiments and also works with Sandrone to make weapons and gadgets for the Fatui. He dresses in a steampunk style and constantly smells like gasoline. He's calm but tends to let out unhinged cackling when he's excited about new projects. He's got a lot of scars from machinery that accidentally injured him. Nine has a pet droid named Rufus. It's a small robot that can make experiment protocols and clean surfaces. Seven is usually part of Nine's team.

Segment 10 (34): Ten is the lab's (and sometimes the whole palace's) janitor and he hates his job. He looks like he hasn't showered in 3 months and he's constantly grumpy and tired of everything.

Segment 11 (35): Zandik was under the impression that there were too many segments just being addressed with numbers and argued for this one to have a name. So Prime offhandedly named him Elvis, the closest sounding thing to "Eleven" he could think of at the time. Elvis is the team's alchemist and he handles all the substances. He has a secret drug dealing side business that he thinks Prime does not know about. He definitely has a more unhinged demeanor and also dresses like a clown but not as much as Webtoon Dottore.

Segment 12 (36): Nicknamed "Floaty", Twelve levitates. That's his only supernatural ability. Levitation. You'll exit your room and he'll just be there floating around in the hallway and looking at you curiously. You can pull him down and hold him, as soon as you let go of him he just starts floating again. Sometimes he follows people around which scares them because he's always very quiet and doesn't talk much. But really he's just curious about what they're doing. He's a gentle soul. Prime lets him roam around the palace since he doesn't really have a use for him most of the time but he's also harmless. So sometimes the other Harbingers enter the library or the kitchen and he'll just be there, floating and reading a book with a soft smile on his face. He also starts levitating when you do something that makes him happy. He can also make other things levitate.

Segment 13 (37): Thirteen has illusionary abilities. He can make people see things that aren't there or hide other things in plain sight. He's a trickster, loves to prank people and enjoys making people question their sanity. He's kinda like The Spiral in TMA. His thoughts are abstract and often very cursed. Sometimes he just puts an unsuspecting guard through an illusionary hellscape and the poor guy comes out questioning his perception of reality. One of the guards got sent to Five after reporting an incident where he was trapped in a spiraling colorful hallway and cursed creatures were talking to him for 4 days. Five is very annoyed by Thirteen since he has to take the responsibility for staff losing their sanity. Thirteen has messed up cheshire cat vibes. There's also not an honest word coming out of his mouth.

Segment 14 (38): Ignis, also lovingly referred to as Pyro Dottore, was an experiment in the quest to evolve delusions. Ignis has pyro abilities and he's a pyromaniac. Constantly at risk of setting things on fire because he feels like it. Would set the entire lab on fire if he could. He looks very peaceful just sitting in front of a fireplace and staring at the flames.

Segment 15 (39): Invisible Dottore. No one knows where he is. Originally made for spy- or stealth missions, he disappeared after he was created. Not even Prime knows anything about him. He's not part of the Hivemind and no one has seen him since his first day in this word. Legends say he haunts the palace. There have been several instances of "ghost hauntings" in the capital of Snezhnaya that were most likely just invisible Dottore.

Segment 16 (40): Abyss Dottore. This one got tossed into the abyss after being created to see if he could obtain power from the abyss. He's still in there. No one knows what has become of him. Maybe one day he will emerge again....

Segment 17 (41): Shiqi (literally just Seventeen) lives in Liyue to do research there.

Segment 18 (42): Juhachi (Eighteen) was sent to investigate the powers of the Electro Archon in Inazuma.

Segment 19 (43): Dixneuf (Nineteen) was sent to Fontaine to do research there. He cooperates with some local researchers who are unaware of his cruel experiments. He speaks with a French accent.

Segment 20 (44): Twenty is currently on Capitanos team in Natlan.

Segment 21 (45): Lazzo appeared in the Fatui Harbinger trailer. He's the calmest Dottore segment and the one who's always sent to attend meetings and public events. He has a calming effect on all the other segments and appears even more rational than Prime Dottore. He's the one everyone comes to when they need to solve a problem. His approach to issues is highly respected.

Segment 22 (46): Zandik, who also goes by his original name like Segment 2 does, is the one who snapped. He appeared in my Rogue Segment story. Due to an error in his creation, his brain didn't accept Dottore's lived experience as his own. He tried to kill Prime Dottore and got badly injured in the fight, losing his entire arm. He was tossed outside into the trash to die but he survived and replaced his arm with a ruin prosthetic. He dyed his hair white and wears a plague doctor mask in public to avoid being recognized. His personality resembles Segment 2 and he's the only one who's genuinely good. He's currently in Sumeru, being an actual doctor. He recently aquired a dendro vision.

Segment 23 (47): This one has glowing freckles and glowing eyes and his hair glows when he sings, like Rapunzel. They call him Lux and if you see two glowing eyes staring at you in the dark in Dottore's lab it's either him, Columbina or the Unicycle Krupp Chimera. He hisses sometimes. He befriends the fireflies when he goes outside at night. Several of the staff members suspect that he may be radioactive. If you boop his nose, his cheeks glow blue when he blushes. He likes to cook and draw things. Often can be observed sitting at a lab desk and softly humming a tune while sketching the human heart or something.

Segment 24 (48): The Omega Build. He's Dottore's latest clone and was specifically created to fulfill Dottore's plans in Sumeru while Prime burns Irminsul. He wants to prove that he is worthy of Prime Dottore's acknowledgement but simultaneously wants to be more than just someone else's stand-in. He hasn't met the other segments yet. No one has prepared him for the chaos ahead. He unironically thinks the Eleazar hospital is a very calming place that makes him relax.

Also every Dottore clone loves when someone plays with his hair.

The Tenth Harbinger had long been considered virtually void; a shell of a man living to serve the Tsaritsa. He was an immovable force. "Lord Harbinger, you have a letter." "Who." "The Eleventh Harbinger, sir." Sandrone turned around, and the trembling recruit dropped the pale blue envelope into his outstretched palm. "Dismissed." "Yes sir." Sandrone waited until the recruit had left his office before he slit the letter, pouring the contents out. A waterfall of flowers fluttered out, along with a folded note with Childe's handwriting on it. Sandrone picked up the letter first. Sandrone, Hi! Recently, I got the chance to go to Mondstadt, and I remembered you said something about wanting to see the plants at Mondstadt. So I brought you some! There's dandelions, cecilias, a few windwheel asters and an orange flower (it reminded me of you <3) Unfortunately I couldn't figure out how to give you valberries, so I took a picture instead :( But on a brighter note, I managed to get my hands on a bottle of dandelion wine from Master Diluc :D Had to pay the "Fatui price" for it but I still feel it's worth it~ See you soon! Childe :DD Sandrone put the letter aside and sifted through the pile of dried flowers. They were all carefully pressed and in pristine condition. Dandelions, windwheel asters, cecilias, all smelling like the wind and the sun. A photo of wrinkled valberries was there as well, along with a scribbled note behind telling Sandrone of Childe's disastrous attempts to dry the berries. He picked up the orange flower. It was the head of an orange daisy, carefully cut off the stem and preserved so it still looked as fresh as if it was just picked from the stalk. "Honestly, Childe..." But when an immovable object meets an unstoppable force, it would shift, even if it was a paltry millimeter.

Sulien Ambros, a man of very little feeling, a man of very little anything, really. He had no substance, he wasn’t solid, he slipped through his days like water between one's fingers. Due to this he equated himself more to the automatons that Dottore studied than to the flesh coil he was actually tied to. He could not begin to understand the small things he occasionally felt, the tugs inside of this robotic system of a human body.

He read the books, he studied the material, he analyzed the relationships of real people around him. And yet Sulien could not begin to understand them. There was once a time that perhaps he could. But not now. Not anymore. He could slip on masks like clothing, happy, sad, angry, fear. They were all so easy to wear, but inside, he didn’t understand them. He knew how to react, knew what cues to pick up on and which mask to put on as a reaction.

But internally, he was nothing more than a machine. Or perhaps he was like those ceramic puppets? Sulien wasn’t sure. He wasn’t sure of anything. His own mind a fragmented maze closing in on itself, opened in odd areas that made no sense, and closed off in directions that may be the exit. He traveled between spaces like a ghost within his own body, he knew he was there, tied to this mortal plane. But he didn’t quite feel there.

When had he ever felt ‘there’? Desiderium. A grief for something lost. But Sulien was unsure what he lost. So the marionette did what he did best and he put on a new mask and cracked the other one, throwing it away. But nobody can really destroy themselves in that sense, can they? He merely pretends that he can. He is good at pretending. There is no loss here when he is loss itself. A machine, a ghost, a walking mirage, a puppet. Was nothing grounding enough for him? Was nothing enough for him to remember that he is ‘there’?

“Morning, comrade!”

Sulien blinked, realising he was staring at a book. He set the mug he had apparently been holding back onto the small kitchen table. It was cold now. How long had he been sitting there? “I’ll be going to see Lumine today, so I’ll probably be back late.” Ajax sounded particularly chipper today. Lumine.. Lumine.. Right! The outlander from another world. What was this feeling in his chest? “Teyvat to Sulien?” Right. He should reply. Analyse the situation, filter what is appropriate, narrow the results, speak.

“Alright, be careful. I’ll be working at Northland for most of today should you need me.” Satisfactory. Ajax hummed as he got to work on his coffee making. When did Ajax ever need him? Perhaps his response was not satisfactory. He would need to reprogram, perhaps a stop to Wanwen Bookhouse would do him some good. He needed new material anyways.. Oh, Ajax was speaking. He hadn’t been listening. Sulien set his book down to tune into whatever it was the ginger was talking about. Lumine. It was about Lumine.

Sulien stood slowly, casually closing the cover of his book, losing his place. He’d just find it later. He picked up the cold cup of coffee, he stopped listening again. The man dumped the remaining coffee into the drain, setting the mug into the wash bin. Ajax had stopped speaking again, was he watching? What was this feeling in his gut? “I’ll see you at a later time.” Sulien removed himself from the kitchen.

Sulien would soon forget the encounter in the kitchen, too much work to do, too many people to watch over and direct. The stifling feel in his torso would go away soon, perhaps a cog was stuck. Perhaps he needed more oil or rest or whatever it is normal people did. At least it went away when he arrived at Northland Bank and focused on his work. A diligent little machine, indeed. And throughout the hours of the day, the feeling seemed to go away.

“Could I get all three volumes of Customs of Liyue, please? Oh, and volume three of Heart’s Desire.” Sulien pulled his mora pouch out as Jifang got the requested books. He paid her the money, and extra, for always having the books he needed. She placed the books in the paper bag and slid it across to him with a smile. “Thank you, miss.” Sulien took the bag and bowed his head, face masked anyways.

Sulien headed for the stairs, briskly walking down them. The sun was setting now, bathing the harbour in a beautiful golden glow. If the masked man understood the concept of pretty, perhaps he could liken it to that. But he was unsure what pretty meant outside of the things he read described as such. Maybe a gaze at the ponds would clear his foggy mind. He turned towards the large archway that separated the path around the ponds and him.

He heard a familiar laugh and he furrowed his brow beneath his mask. Plenty of people were familiar, how many lives was he intertwined with in Liyue now anyways? He continued to the pond, moving to the small bridge at the left that was currently unoccupied. Sulien leaned against the banister, looking into the water and observing the fish. Fish were so much easier to understand than people, he decided.

“Oh, Sandrone!” A voice called and Sulien sighed softly, lifting his head, what now? A small floating erm, elf? Fairy? Something was waving at him. Beside her was the blonde girl from the other world and.. Ajax. His heart squeezed in his chest and he inhaled sharply at the sudden pain. Hide it, pretend it isn’t there, Sandrone does not feel pain, he feels nothing, he chanted words he had heard long ago like a mantra in his head. Why in the world did his chest hurt?

“Comrade! Fancy seeing you here. We were headed to Liuli Pavilion for dinner. Do you want to come?” Why did Ajax’s words make him so annoyed? Sulien was so hopelessly confused, he was frustrated, annoyed, and the more emotions that swirled within him the angrier he got because he didn’t understand them. His cheeks were wet and he was thankful his mask covered his face. Analyse the situation, filter what is appropriate, narrow the results, speak.

“No, thank you. I’ve already eaten.” Still emotionless, void, good. He couldn’t let how he felt sink into his words. Ajax narrowed his eyes, he knew Sulien better than that. Sulien didn’t eat during the day because it made him sick. But he didn’t press the topic. Another stabbing feeling in his heart and he instinctively brought a gloved hand to his chest, delusion glinting in the fading sun. “Apologies. I seem to be ill. Excuse me.” Sulien stepped around them, hurrying beyond the archway and leaving them standing there. Lumine seemed concerned as she turned to watch him leave the area.

Sulien unlocked the apartment door with shaky hands, pushing the door open and stumbling into the apartment. He gasped for air as the pain in his chest grew, why did it hurt so much? What was this feeling? He set his bag down on the entrance table and quickly removed his mask, setting it down too. He reached up, wiping his wet cheeks on his sleeve. Another stab and he leaned against the wall, hand on his chest. He had never felt pain like this.

“Sulien, are you alright?” The door opened and closed quickly, Ajax’s voice filtering through the apartment. Ajax immediately closed the distance when he saw the man against the wall, tears on his cheeks and hand splayed against his chest. It had been a very long time since Ajax had seen the man show any sort of reaction to pain, let alone mere sickness. “Lumine and I are worried-”

Why did it happen every time Lumine got brought up? Sulien was utterly confused, he slid down the wall, sitting on the ground. He was lost in his own head again, trying to navigate the maze, trying, desperately, to analyse the situation. Ajax, presumably, knelt in front of him, but Sulien couldn’t focus on him, he couldn’t focus on anything but trying to read a cue he was not practised in. “Where does it hurt? Should we go see Baizhu?”

“I suspect I have been cursed.” Yes! A curse. He was a harbinger after all, a curse makes sense. Otherwise, scientifically, logically, he’d be able to explain this feeling. Ajax furrowed his brows, he was confused. “I feel..” Sulien started, another stab and he gripped at the front of his coat, internally cursing this pain, this pain that somehow managed to get through all of his defenses. Everything he’s put up, all of the walls, he rarely felt pain. But this? This brought him to his knees.

“I’ll be fine..”

But was he fine? Sulien asked himself the next week as the pain came back, even worse than before. He gripped the railing of the staircase, dropping his bag of books on the ground. His research. He needed to research, the pain was unbearable, it needed to go now. “Are you alright Mr.Sandrone?” Jifang questioned, leaving her station to help him straighten out. He was her best customer after all.

There it was, that familiar laugh again. Sandrone lifted his head, Ajax and Lumine were walking past, the blonde entirely too close to the ginger who didn’t seem to mind. Sulien grimaced, fingers digging into the red railing so hard it began to splinter under his grip. “Do you-” he gasped for air. “Have any books on curses?” He turned his head to look at Jifang, the soulless eyes of his mask boring into hers.

“Curses? Let me check.” She slowly released his arm once she knew he wouldn’t keel over. Then she headed back up to her bookstore. Sulien tilted his head, eyeing the two in the crowd once more. Lumine grabbed Ajax’s hand to drag him somewhere and Sulien scowled under his mask. A hand on his shoulder and he pulled away violently, a dagger made of ice appearing in his hand.

“I’ve heard from Childe that you’re injured, do you need assistance going home?” Zhongli. Why was Zhongli here? “Ah, thank you.” Zhongli took the book from Jifang who nodded her head and headed up the stairs without asking for mora. “Curses and Afflictions of the Human Mind? I didn’t take you as one to read this.” Zhongli bent down, picking up the dropped bag of books and slipping this one in with them.

“I have been cursed, I need to find a cure.” Sulien spoke through gritted teeth, he looked back to the crowds. No ginger hair to be found. Sulien pulled his hand back when the broken wood of the banister breached his glove and pricked his skin. “I do not need assistance, either.” The man turned, taking the bag of books from Zhongli who hummed.

But despite saying no, Zhongli was determined. The God followed in step with Sulien once he finally began to move again. They walked in silence for a while, Zhongli examining him out of the corner of his eye. Sulien did not understand, he could not understand, why the God who pretended to not be a God was staring. “You do not have the mark of a curse.” Zhongli broke the silence. Sulien’s step stuttered but didn’t stop as he kept moving.

“Is that so?”

“Yes. Tell me, how long has the pain been happening?”

Sulien furrowed his brow beneath his mask, his days always blurring together, they were so hard to separate, so hard to differentiate. Analyse the situation, filter what is appropriate, narrow the results, speak. “A month now I believe. It’s been getting progressively worse. I feel as if I am being stabbed. This heaviness in my chest… I wanted to give this ache a name, and if not a curse, then what?” Sulien rambled quietly, his pain sank into his words and he tightened his grip, free hand balling into a fist.

He needed to be careful now, he couldn’t let it show that he still felt pain and so he took a deep breath, kept his head held high and he did not falter. “Sometimes it is a very sad thing to be human and longing.” Zhongli’s words confused him. Longing? What is longing? Sulien did not know what that meant. Zhongli laughed, it was quiet and slightly breathless as the realisation dawned on him. Sulien Ambros did not know what it meant to long.

“If I may.. You spend so much time considering what it must be like to be someone else that you forgot to consider what it must be like to be someone at all. Have you forgotten what it means to long for somebody? To love them? It is a very human thing to love, you know.” Zhongli spoke and Sulien listened, the harbinger trying to sort his feelings, his pitiful fragmented feelings. They got to the apartment where Sulien and Ajax stayed.

Sulien stilled when he heard voices inside, hand hesitating on the key in his pocket. He heard a giggle and that damn familiar laugh. Sulien was masked sure, but he stared at the door. His heart hurt, it hurt so much. He felt like somebody was reaching into his chest and trying to rip his heart from beneath his ribcage and it hurt like the fire of Teyvat. Sulien took a shaky step back from the door of his apartment, his home. But it wasn’t his home was it? No, ghosts don’t have homes.

“The thing about masks is someone always sees the string behind your head.” Zhongli didn’t miss this, he saw right through the harbinger. Perhaps the great Sandrone, Marionette of the Tsaritsa, had a weakness. And perhaps it was a ginger Snezhnayan with the prettiest blue eyes. The call of a name, a short name, a name that only Sulien was supposed to know.

Sulien’s hand went to his chest as the air was torn from his lungs, it was suffocating, like drowning in a dark ocean. He was supposed to be a machine made of flesh, a ceramic doll with the strings attached. Why did he hurt like he was human? Why did it hurt like he was human? It hurt so much. What is longing? What is love? He read about love, at least. But nothing he read described the things he felt. Love wasn’t supposed to hurt, was it? No this wasn’t love, it couldn’t be love. It hurt too much.

Hot tears slipped down his cheeks and he cursed himself for crying when he was frustrated. This was a weakness he could not afford to have. This weakness could get him killed. Zhongli put a hand on his shoulder, warm and comforting. But he was too far under the ocean waves. “Any love I find will be treason.” Sandrone, Marionette, the 10th Harbinger, Sulien Ambros. Whatever name, he did not feel love. “I will sooner rip out my own heart and eat it than deal with whatever you may describe as longing.” Sulien lifted his head, unlocking and pushing his front door open. He left Zhongli outside, and with him, he left his heart.

Desiderium. A grief for something lost. But Sulien could not know what he lost.

I was thinking about Arle’s voice like about Sandrone and it gave me brain worms for both her and Dott.

First with Sandrone, other Fatui members just never see her! And for the first time in forever Sandrone leaves her office and people just wonder who the hell she is??

She stays holed up so much that no other than the other Harbingers and you know what she looks like! Sometimes it leads to new Fatuus frantically running up to you because they have to drop something off to her or speak to her but they don’t even know what she looks like or where she is! Some fatuus probably think Sandrone is the big robot!

And then the mention of Dott and his segments made me think of people asking how you can even tell them apart. The segments may be at certain points of Dottore’s life, but ones that are close together are still hard to distinguish.

People ask you how you can figure out who is who and you just ramble off like “Well the original, Prime, has a little stubble growing and Omega has curlier hair from a cloning mistake and—“ you could just go on for hours of the little differences you’ve found.

THE BRAIN WORMS... THEY'RE TAKING OVER... I also find Sandrone's lack of appearance pretty funny. She probably doesn't even show up for the regular Fatui meetings, she sends an Automaton instead to report. It makes me wonder if she even works with other Fatui agents, or if they simply communicate with the robots she has instead. Even Dottore shows up more than her... and that's something to think about!

Poor you, you could be considered Sandrone herself at this point by how much of her outside duties you take care of. You're not annoyed but... you do wish that she got out a bit more. At this point when recruits receive anything to do with Sandrone, the older Fatuis just tell them to go straight to you before they waste their time trying to find the Harbinger. Even if they do find her, she's not interested in listening to them, unfortunately...

AND YES!! I LOVE the idea of the regular Fatuis being in awe at your ability to differentiate between the different segments. Reader can know which Dottore is talking to them just based on the voice! Needless to say, your words are very carefully transcribed into the Fatui's handbook for future reference. They thank you for your service. I also think the segments get a bit blushy and a bigger ego when they hear you list off everything you noticed about them. Like, you look at them that much? They're going to tease you about it a lot, but you just smile because you're not really embarrassed - you just love them a lot.

(Also... Prime with stubble... you know, at first I wasn't a fan, but some of the fanart make him look delicious.)

(But this also leads to my personal HC that all the segments wear different masks/earrings, so I think that makes it a bit easier on the poor agents. A bit.)

I've been feeling burnt out a lot lately and thought about comfort from some of harbingers

Like, Dottore's segments all stop their work to comfort you. They bring you food, water and things that they think can make you happier. Original, not knowing about how you're feeling, gets annoyed, but quickly warms up after learning the reason. Also, if your bad mood was caused by someone.. Let's just say you won't be seeing them again

Pantalone's love language is obviously gift giving, so that's what he'd do. But don't think he'll try to just buy your happiness. Pantalone let's you lay on his knees and will listen to whatever you're dealing with right now and you'll chat, while he gently strokes your hair. He has a very calming voice, you might even fall asleep while listening to it. Or he'll order his servants to run a hot bath (I completely support anon who said Pantalone enjoys non-sexual nudity)

Sandrone may look like she doesn't care about anything, aside from her work, but she does. I think she's not very good with emotions or comfort, but Sandrone tries her best to help you and her automatons will gladly help her do that

Ah, Arlecchino, Arlecchino... Her first reaction to you feeling down would asking who was the reason (and if it was indeed a person, then, well, it's pretty much the same as Dottore's). I think she's also not the best at comfort, but also tries her best. Arlie might take you to Heart of Hearth, thinking playing with kids there will help ease your worries or take you to theatre

Ajax cooks your favorite dishes and entertains you with water animals. He seems very touchy-feely, so he won't let you go from his grasp until you feel better

My thoughts are messy and my brain refuses to think properly. No thoughts, only comfort from villains who are soft for one (1) person

The clones would be telepathically communicating with each other, telling each other what to bring and what to do for you 😭 Do they normally get annoyed by the loud thoughts of others? Yes. But do they care right now? No, because your comfort is their top priority right now. Rarely do the segments see you like this, and they have literally never comforted someone before so... they will be running around themselves trying to figure out what is the best way to comfort you because they have no clue. It's kind of funny because they're dropping stuff in front of you with no explanation in hopes that you'll feel better... Primettore would be annoyed like you said at first, and then he'd ask you why you didn't come to him when you were feeling this way. He would let you sit in his lap as he stroked your hair, allowing you to rant about your problems if you felt comfortable. And yea, if it so happens to be someone... looks like Dottore's next test subject has been found!

Ah Pantalone... he knows gifts and money can make one happy, but you deserve far more than that. You deserve all of him, and all of him he shall give to you, if that makes you happy. Literally everything about him is so comforting... his scent, warmth, touch, voice... you will feel even a bit better by the end of it because of the sheer amount of attention he gives you. Just let him into your worries, he will take his beloved's troubles very seriously. If you don't feel up to taking care of yourself, he will make sure you're well pampered, whether that's taking a bath with you, helping you dress, brushing your hair, and etc.(Pantalone non-sexual nudity REALLLLLL, he's kissing all over your body fr)

Sandrone... this will be a hurdle for her, one she's slowly overcoming though because she really does love you. She's mostly around her robots and Automatons, and they don't really have feelings or emotions... and she herself neglects her emotions so this is new territory for her. She doesn't exactly know how one goes about comforting another, but she bases it on what you do for her. How you try to pull her away from her work when she's clearly tired, how you bring her water and snacks, how you hold her and let her rant about how incompetent her co-workers are... naturally, she doesn't do this as good as you, but she's trying. And her Automatons would definitely carry you two as she takes you for a breath of fresh air.

As you said, Arlie isn't adept with comforting either, her way of helping is more getting to the root of the problem and then solving it for you. Then you won't be as stressed. And she will try her best to help you, and if it's a person... the Knave is the right person! She's not good with words, she's very to the point and won't sugarcoat things, so that's not her expertise... Arlecchino's more action-oriented and will do things for you instead, despite her very busy schedule. (Baby Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet moment) She'll take you to the theater with the best seats and let you hold her hand the whole time :(

If you want physical affection for comfort, Childe's your guy. He will not let you go normally, but when you're like this it just amplifies much more (as long as you're comfortable) Ajax will always have a hand on you - shoulder, chest, thigh, your own hand, etc, as a means of comforting you. That he's here for you, and you're not alone. While he's cooking your comfort foods he will definitely talk the whole time if you don't feel up to it right now... the water fishies get me every time 😭 he's so flipping cute he won't stop until he gets you to smile

YES PANTALONE IS A RICH BASTARD and uses tons of skin and hair caring products. He enjoys being taken care of and will do the same in return, that's a fair exchange. Just wash his hair and listen to him complaining about his co-workers asking for budget raise for 10th time this month I think he's very stressed and tired by the end of the day, he might even doze off right in bath, since it's warm here and you gently stroke his hair (he looks cute-but wake him up please or he'll end up with sore neck)

Columbina gives me vibe of a person, who uses a lot of silly stuff, like bath bombs or salt. She's playful and will splash you, which will turn into a war with water being all over the floor (poor people who'll have to clean it up..). She's another one to possibly fall asleep in bathtub, so wake her up too. She also sings in shower

We should stop slandering only Dottore, bc Childe is also a type of person to give you a biiig hug, while covered in blood. But, well, he's easier to get to wash himself. Like Bina, he's also playful and will summon small water animals to entertain both of you (he will create a small narval and gently bup it on your nose... Before breaking it, so you'll have water over your face, bc you're so adorable when flushed!! You're allowed to splash him for this)

I think Sandrone forgets about bathing, drowned in her work and if you invite her, Sandrone will say she'll take a quick shower to return to her work. Please convince her to come with you, she needs rest. In bathtub, all of her thoughts are about unfinished projects :(

Hehe YES it's obvious Pantalone only uses the most exquisite, high-end products (have you seen his hair? absolutely LUSCIOUS) He probably made a deal with the company to have the stuff delivered to him regularly so he doesn't need to keep buying it lol, but YES he lovesss to pamper you but he also adores being pampered in return. But you gotta make sure you're a pro at it, don't tug or pull on his hair too roughly, be gentle when washing him, you know what I mean. Make sure to sympathize with him and be very soft as he complains to you about how that doctor is using up his funds with no progress. Make sure to give him lots of kisses when he decides the perfect napping place is laying on your chest in the middle of the big af bath tub 😭 (Also get him out of there because a sore Pantalone is a grumpy Pantalone) But he'd also be the kind of guy to be romantic as hell and put candles around the bath and have a book to read in there too :3

AND OMFGG 100% AGREE ON COLUMBINA SHE LOVES TO DO STUFF LIKE THAT. I HATE TO SAY IT BUT YOU'RE 100% RIGHT ON CHILDE...😭😭 Bro comes back after destroying multiple Hilichurl and Treasure Hoarder camps and is ready to hug you to death... baby i love u but CLEAN UP FIRST. But at least he actually loves the baths/the water in general so it's actually quite fun (you're just sad for the person who needs to wash his clothes 💀) He's actually so cute after a shower because his hair is all damp but then you get to see it fluff up back to life with that long ahoge 😭 He's also extra cuddly and won't let go of you <3

SANDRONE BABY NO... get her robots to turn against her. Don't let her leave until she's had a long, warm bath. Her mind will still probably drift to her robots and incomplete puppets... but give her a really good scrub and wash (she won't admit it but she feels way better after working nonstop) (she dives back right into working nonstop again though) Though i feel like she secretly likes to be pampered, lol she doesn't even walk by herself, her robot carries her. So though she doesn't express her gratitude much verbally she is thankful deep down.

People here discussed possibility of Dottore having sweet tooth, but what about Sandrone

I honestly feel like that for her, as busy as she is, tea breaks are a holy time. As her lover, you also have to be there, no matter what you were doing, so she'll sens her automatons to get you to her. Sandrone doesn't let anyone interrupt her tea break, unless there's an order from Pierro or the Tsaritsa herself. If anyone tries to, she'll not so gently throw them outside with help from her robots.

Now, about her liking sweets. You get carried to her lab, a few minutes after she made you two a tea and tells you: "You took too long. I've already finished my 3rd desert" (Like Lynette in Lyney's SQ). You look at table and she actually already ate 3 separate deserts and got herself a 4th one, not to mention that automaton who bought an entire cake here??-- You probably feel sick from a few slices, meanwhile Sandrone can eat all of this, without feeling even slightly unwell, then drink a lot of tea, say "How delightful" with a slight smile and go back to work as if it was nothing. Even to this day you wonder how she does that

Sandrone definitely has an unhealthy addiction to tea but no one would dare question her on it. Only you of course, but she always waves you off so you decided to give up. Somehow her body is fine with all the tea she inhales. Initially, Sandrone preferred to spend her tea parties alone or in the company of her Automatons, however, after falling in love with you, she requires you to be there as well. As much as she likes the silence of her tea breaks, she finds that idle chatter with you during them is also as enjoyable. She will also secretly love you more if you personally blend her tea or find new mixes for her.

Ahh it would be so funny and cute... you would be in the middle of actually doing something important but then a big Automaton picks you on and drops you on its large hand... too bad, Sandrone's request for your presence is far more important! She would look at you strangely at how you clocked out at only a few slices, but then shrug her shoulders since that's more sweets for her. Much of the tea party is spent looking at her indulgence while you awkwardly tell your stories. An Automaton may feed her too if she's feeling lazy.

(If she herself is a robot then that would explain her tolerance for so many tea and sweets...)
