Finally framed all my The Sandman chase cards. Art by Dave McKean, Bill Sienkiewicz, Kent Williams, John Muth, Jill Thompson, Teddy Kristiansen

Where I live there's a vintage toy shop in the downtown area. Amongst some trading card packs I found the The DC Comics Cosmic Teams from 1993 which makes this pack 30 years old, some of the cards in there need more than one card to complete a picture. To my utter shock I got two surprising cards.
Tumblr media
The Sandman and the Worlds of Magic card that has Mister E, Doctor Occult, Jack-A-Jester, The Demon Etrigan, Tim Hunter, and Death of the Endless. Morpheus' being card 119 in a series of 150 and the other card being 27 in a series of 150. I just found it really amusing and amazing I get Dream of the Endless and Death of the Endless in the same card pack that's 30 years old. It is certainly a piece of Sandman memorabilia I will cherish.

Just finished watching "Sleep No More" (Doctor Who, Season 9, Episode 9), and I can't stop laughing about it. Not because the episode is even remotely funny, but because of the whole Morpheus/Sandman thing going on.
Watching that episode right when everyone is obsessed with the Sandman on Netflix is really funny to me. Also, now I have the song Mr. Sandman stuck in my head, lmao.

Good Omens Graphic Novel Masterpost ❤ 🐍😊
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(you know how I like doing masterposts :)🥰 - I will update the masterpost as the kicstarter updates ❤)
What is Good Omens: the Official (and Ineffable) Graphic Novel?
The Good Omens: the Official (and Ineffable) Graphic Novel is the upcoming adaptation of the glorious 1990 Good Omens novel by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman in a graphic novel form. Video by Neil, Colleen and Rob :)
Rob Wilkins: Judgment day is almost upon us. One angel, one demon want to do something about it, but there's the small problem of the missing Antichrist.
Tumblr media
Neil Gaiman: The good Omens Kickstarter - we've got a fabulous, glorious, amazing adaptation of Good Omens waiting for you in graphic novel form.
Tumblr media
Rob: Neil Gaiman was the first person, the first journalist to interview Terry after the publication of The Colour of Magic. They stayed friends and Neil met Terry again and discussed the idea of this novel that he had that he really ought to get written down and he sent the idea through to Terry and a little while later Terry called him back and said: you bastard I want that idea for myself, and Terry offered to either buy the idea or to work with Neil on the project, and as Neil said at the time it would be like Michelangelo calling saying: here give me a hand to paint this ceiling, so of course Neil and Terry worked on it together.
Tumblr media
Colleen Doran: Hi and welcome to my studio. I am pleased and excited beyond words to talk to you tonight about Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's good Omens the graphic novel adaptation. You have no idea how happy I am to be working on this aside from the fact that I get to sit around and draw Azirphale and Crowley all day and who wouldn't want that - oh this is fun this is pure candy and I'm working very very hard to bring you a faithful adaptation. I love this book I love this project and bringing it to you is pure joy. Thanks a lot for your support. Thank you.

Finally moved furniture to get to my bookcase where I keep my special books, ironically less available than my normal books. So I got out my Absolute Sandman vol1. God, they're so nice.
Terrible pictures but it's late.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Very hardcore sturdy slipcover, giant leatherish book inside. The cover has some gorgeous lock and key embossing. I can't remember if that's on every volume or if it's different. Inset glossy illustration on card pasted down. (Details for my fellow bookmakers.)
There's a thick parchment leaf over the title page. And the thing I really love about this version is how big the pages are, which makes it way more of a pleasant reading experience IMO, where you actually get to enjoy the art, despite having a giant tome on your lap. hand for scale.
Also the colors are way better than the original trades.
Anyway yes I own the full set. They were my main Xmas gift for years, one a year as they were released.

The Sandman rewatch - episode 4
So I like to do this thing where, if I didn’t consider a show a complete waste of time and if it does have an actual arc spanning the season, I watch the season twice–once as a binge watch and then once more episode by episode, because it helps me notice things I didn’t notice at first, especially in cases like this where I’m almost entirely unfamiliar with the source material.
Anyway, any and all chronological thoughts and ramblings about episode 4 of The Sandman beneath the cut, because spoilers.
So, if you don’t believe in Hell it doesn’t exist? One more reason to joss that notion of the afterlife, I guess.
Matthew be like “wtf is this service here, you don’t even get your own hellfire for free?” We have achieved peak capitalism.
Oh Rosemary, you’re gonna wish you’d just stepped on the gas instead of the brakes.
I love this rhyming demon. And I love that Dream starts rhyming too. lol
You know, when Rosemary told him the names of her kids, that was the moment where I looked up how this episode ended for her, because I was 110% certain she was going to die. Glad the show decided to be not so predictable.
Gosh, the music in this car ride scene is amazing. That shift when John mentions his crime…
So Dream is proud enough to forego the opportunity to get out his imprisonment early, but not proud enough to pretend to be stronger than Lucifer? Interesting. Also interesting that Lucifer is stronger than the anthropomorphic personification of dreams and nightmares. Can the Endless die?
lol at Matthew noping out of recon when he sees that the trees are fused with the damned. Understandable though.
So there’s one of Dream’s exes. And he hasn’t forgiven her for *checks notes* “defying” him after ten-freaking-thousand years? Dude, that “defiance” had better been about a matter of life and death for an entire world or you deserve every bit of drama your exes give you.
Sidenote 1, that’s a lot of jail cells in hell.
Sidenote 2, I love how Matthew is mostly walking this entire time, like he hasn’t gotten used to being a creature whose main means of transportation are wings yet.
Hello there, Gwendolyne!
Wow, what happened to Mazikeen’s face?
“Shall we interview them at one at a time” lol, Lucifer is cheeky AF.
Choronzon saying he traded the helm for a “paltry thing”--my dude, you had an amulet that turns anybody who tries to attack you inside out. What is your problem?
Good to see he has enough of a brain to choose Lucifer as his champion though. Especially since Dream literally just told us that Lucifer is stronger than him like… 10 minutes ago.
Lucifer be like “Apologies, Dream, I am sooooo sorry to fight you” *wipes away a single tear* XDDDD
Rosemary regretting that she asked him if he wanted to get anything. Should have just gone inside and called 911. Not that it would have helped much, in hindsight.
Also, “no firearms allowed on the premises” written on the door, but the clerk carries a gun lol. American things, I guess.
Oh Rosemary, this was your chance to just run like hell and GTFO.
Awww, Dream brought Matthew so he could inform Lucienne of what happened so she wouldn’t be left wondering again. That’s heartwarming.
Matthew is not having it though lol.
Am I the only one who finds the contest itself super cheesy, though?
Matthew playing the “do you really wanna be indirectly responsible for another one of your ravens dying?” card. Granted, that’s not how he’s wording it, but I’m pretty sure that’s what’s going through Dream’s mind.
Dream has a point. If there was no Heaven, then all the suffering in Hell would basically be just be Tuesday to the people residing there.
Well… that Ruby retrieval backfired. Literally.
What. Are. You. Doing. Waiting. There. Rosemary? Just GTFO while he’s getting his stuff, for crying out loud!
Even John’s like “What are you still doing here?” Seriously, Rosemary, what the actual duck?
She is so damn lucky to have gotten out of there alive, seriously.

Cyrus' Backstory 1.0
Tumblr media
I once bought one of those finger armor things from Hot Topic with a gift card my sweet, probably puzzled Oma gave me one year. It was made for someone with a much longer finger than I had and super uncomfortable, and I pretty much never wore it.
Other stuff I bought at Hot Topic in the late 90's/early 2000's:
Fake fangs that I had to fit by heating up wax and molding them to my canines
White pressed face powder
This glitter body paint that seriously applied like it was a nail polish, and I used it as eyeliner (RIP my corneas).
All the Sandman t-shirts that are long gone now (RIP)
Other T-shirts and tank tops, many featuring fairies, Invader Zim, Metallica, or NIN.
At least one book about Vampire: The Masquerade that I got scolded for paging through before paying for.
Every Johnny the Homicidal Maniac issue (not trades!)
Several issues of Gloomcookie
Two prom dresses
Several pairs of tights or thigh-highs. And fishnets, so many fishnets that mostly I wore on my arms under t-shirts and tank tops.
A tank top I still miss, that had straps with buckles.
A few blank journals with velvet covers, which I used as stand-in yearbooks for the purpose of everyone writing an end-of-year message.
Various jewelry including: a collar with lots of chains and metal loops that I still have; the obligatory spiked bracelet; various pendants featuring dragons.
The smell of patchouli still brings back memories... 🖤

The Hitman's Guide to Staying Alive Despite Past Mistakes - Alice Winters (Hitman's Guide, book 2)
Synopsis
Jackson
Now that Leland’s decided to give up his life as a hitman and take a walk on the mild side, we’ve been enjoying a simple life of taking down bad guys the legal way. I didn’t know he would be just as reckless as a PI, but it’s not my fault if I happen to enjoy helping him hunt down the occasional criminal. If only I could keep the house from being overrun by Leland’s gun shrine—or stop him from making our cases “more exciting” by terrorizing people into confessing. Overall, life seems perfect, right?
Wrong.
We’ve been called in to investigate a suspicious murder committed by someone claiming to be the Sandman. When we find a note on the victim’s body, we realize that this could ruin our lives forever.
Leland
I wasn’t involved in the murder. It might look like my writing and my note, but I wouldn’t do that to Jackson—especially after I promised him that I wouldn’t take a hit ever again. At least, not without telling him. I’m finally starting to learn that we’re stronger together, and I’m not going to jeopardize that.
Luckily for both of us, this copycat doesn’t know who he’s dealing with. Game’s on, fake Sandman. You think you can mess with me? Well, maybe you can, but that’s beside the point, because I will protect Jackson no matter what, even if I almost drown him in the process. (Really, that wasn’t my fault. He should learn how to swim better.)
This 110k word book contains: Disco ball pinata, camping with Sasquatch, an acrobatic housekeeper named “Mr. Cleanyface,” a questionable massage table, weapons everywhere, Jackson’s nemesis—the fence, a turkey showdown, aerial silk antics, a reappearance of Blow-up Randy, over-the-top body armor, too many hitmen, and so many emotions that Leland’s chest might explode. This is the second book in a series—while you could read and enjoy it on its own, you really should read The Hitman’s Guide to Making Friends and Finding Love for maximum enjoyment.
My Thoughts
We find Leland and Jackson in a new house, with Leland now working full-time as a detective for Leland’s agency. Following the events of the first book, Jackson’s realized that Leland can’t quite give up all of the tricks of the hitman trade as easily as they thought he could. And it’s a good thing Leland has been keeping his skills sharp, too.
There’s a copycat out there following in Leland’s footsteps, and even leaving the same calling card after a kill – a note signed by the Sandman. While Leland is very much retired (mostly), having another Sandman running around is very, very dangerous. But mostly, Leland just wants to know who is doing it, and why.
And finding those answers is, honestly, quite terrifying. Leland’s past come back to haunt him – almost literally – in a very big way, which puts everyone he cares about at risk. And from that moment on, it’s really just constant motion. There’s barely a moment for anyone to breathe as Jackson and Leland focus on keeping their loved ones safe.
Again, there’s a rather big twist that I really should have seen coming, but didn’t. Winters is pretty great at diverting my attention just enough so that I don’t see the gigantic red flag waving right in front of my face. It certainly keeps me on my toes!
In the end, our ragtag team comes out on top – and they’ve made a new friend along the way! Another hitman who was trained by the man who trained Leland. Cassel is going to be a very interesting addition to the detective agency, and very likely the reason Jackson finally loses his mind. Leland on his own his enough chaos personified – but now there’s another person with a very similar brand of chaos. It’s going to be a very, very interesting ride going forward.
