I think I need to come back to NM and not tell my grandma until I'm here so that I have a hotel room and a rental car to do whatever I want whenever I want and visit on my own time.

Albuquerque at night from the top of Sandia Crest. This was our last night, we left for points north after that. I miss my Land of Enchantment.

We’re camped in Cedar Crest, NM, just north of our property and just over Sandia mountain from Albuquerque. Had a few maintenance items to attend to… First, we got a flat tire on the trailer at the last campsite in Uvalde. It was fine on the road, but fully flat after we’d been parked for a while. I’m guessing nail or barbed wire. We dropped it off at a local Walmart for repairs while we were doing the eclipse, but they didn’t fix it and also didn’t call to say they didn’t fix it. Thank you Walmart. Goodyear dealer in Albuquerque replaced it.

Grace in Disagreements
How can we enjoy the gospel views from the Sandia Crest or Mount Everest when Timmy is smacking his gum and Sally is blaring TikGram or InstaTok or whatever it’s called? Here are three things we should strive for: Christians who are willing to confront but aren’t eager for controversy. Christians who pursue a gentle revival, not a holy war. Christians who eavesdrop on Jesus’ intercession…

Certainly my own most memorable hikes can be classified as Shortcuts that Backfired. For example, showing my wife the easy way to drive from Deadhorse Point to Moab, via Pucker Pass, I took a wrong turn in the twilight, got lost in a maze of jeep trails, ran out of gas. We walked about twenty miles that night, through the rain, she in tennis shoes and me in cowboy boots. Better than waiting for the heat of the day. Or take the time I tried to force a Hertz rented car up Elephant Hill on the Needles Jeep Trail—another long, impromptu walk. Or one night on the eastern outskirts of Albuquerque, New Mexico, when a bunch of student drunks decided to climb the Sandia Mountains by moonlight. About twelve started; two of us made it, arriving at the crest sixteen hours later, famished, disillusioned, lacerated, and exhausted. But it sure cured the hangover.

April 13th, Santa Fe
Yesterday we took a drive along the turquoise trail which is hwy 14 from Santa Fe to I40. Beautiful drive including a 4000 ft climb up Sandia mountain. Got to the top and ran into a 6' snow bank that prevented us from getting to the observation deck that would allow us to see Albuquerque and the tram.
Went through a few small towns that had a couple of restaurants and art places but not much else and they were pretty rugged (e.g. run down) but the scenery was worth it. At lunch at Burger Boy in Cedar Crest before heading back.
Santa Fe brewery had $2 off Wednesdays so we had to have a pint before heading home.
Today we ran errands in the morning including the worst stocked Sam's Club and Walmart in the nation. Since we had to pass Rudy's on the way home we had to stop for smoked turkey lunch. Talked with the manager who told us the horrors of dealing with the city, including many many broken promises.
In the afternoon we did our chores and prepared for leaving tomorrow. Big winds tomorrow, so we are planning on an early start. Heading to the Elks in Tucumcari NM.

Has the curb appeal of your home fallen to the wayside? Are you too busy cleaning and maintaining the chaos inside your home to even consider what the exterior looks like? If you would honestly have to answer a hearty “yes” to both of these questions, then it’s time to take a look at exactly what’s going on just beyond your front door.
A collection of dirt, grime and mold builds up on the outside of your home through the years and comes without warning, leaving nothing untouched. From the end of the driveway to the tip of the roof, there are countless surfaces that are daily affected by the elements in which we live, be it dust, mildew, airborne pollutants or other such contaminants. However, you don’t know which types of surfaces call for which type of cleaning products, and, even if you had the spare time to tackle such a list of chores, you can’t reach even half of what needs to be worked on.
So, what is the solution to such a mess? How did your home become so far gone on the outside and how do you restore it to its former beauty? The quickest and most affordable solution boils down to just two words: pressure washing.
The power and effectiveness that residential pressure washing offers may come as a shock to you because of just how easy it is to complete. Years of dirt and grime that have formed a dark covering over your home and property can be lifted in just a matter of minutes.  The combination of a specialized detergent and light rinse will instantly reveal a clean and fresh look that your home hasn’t seen in years, maybe even decades!
Whether you’re preparing to sell your home or just wanting to enhance the curb appeal for the pure enjoyment of it, you need to invest in a residential pressure washing service to get the job done. Not only is it a quick and affordable solution, but our power washing method is proven to be safe and effective, posing no risk of damage to your property.

A cloudburst over Albuquerque viewed from the Sandia Crest. Photo: Estevan Robles (Aug 4, 2022)  :: [Scott Horton]
* * * *
They took the road that wanders over Washington Pass via Red Lake, Crystal, and Sheep Springs. Winding down the east slope of the Chuskas, Leaphorn stopped at an overlook. He pointed east and swept his hand northward, encompassing an immensity of rolling tan and gray grasslands. Zuni Mountains to the south, Jemez Mountains to the east, and far to the north the snowy San Juans in Colorado. “Dinetah,” he said. She would know the meaning of the word. “Among the People.” The heartland of the Navajos. The place of their mythology, the Holy Land of the Dinee. How would she react?
