I think I need to come back to NM and not tell my grandma until I'm here so that I have a hotel room and a rental car to do whatever I want whenever I want and visit on my own time.
#bc this week has been stressful and kind of boring and i didn't get to do most of the things i wanted to#i wanted to hang out with my bestie more and go to multiple dispensaries and go for a drive in the desert and go to sandia crest#i wanted to go to the mall and my old favorite restaurants and do some of the things i used to do#i just wanted to visit and live my old life for a week#but instead my grandma has been snippy randomly and stubborn about her health/mobility devices and making me sit around the casino a lot#and gives me crap for being on my phone or talking to alex in my free time bc why am i not watching silent tv with cc or gambling?#and has been weird to me when i want to leave and go do some things on my own for an hour or two#and all this on top of the homophobia/transphobia and basically having to hide that I'm marrying a woman#don't ask don't tell is her mentality#i am coming back next year and i'm having a better time damn it!!#and none of this is to say that i don't love my gma or want to visit her and hang out with her#i would even take her to her appts and help with stuff#but it has felt like i've been held hostage on my own vacation#kfi txt

Albuquerque at night from the top of Sandia Crest. This was our last night, we left for points north after that. I miss my Land of Enchantment.

I want to know so badly what you thought of the rocks in Breaking Bad
HI They look cool! I'd love to visit Albuquerque one day to see the rocks (and the Breaking Bad sites too of course), as the American Southwest is my favorite geological area in the states. Some parts of New Mexico are dominated by (extinct?) volcanic landforms due to a weakness in the crust possibly from the Rio Grande Rift (2 plates pulling apart, similar to what the East African Rift is doing).
And a close-up of Albuquerque area:
If I'm not mistaken though, most of the mountainous landforms seen in Brba is part of the Sandia Crest/Sandia-Manzano Mountains, which overlooks Albuquerque (not volcanic), on the eastern side of the city. Looks like more a ridge or formed by faulting to me since volcanoes typically don't form a continuous range like that. I actually don't recall even seeing a prominent volcanic feature in the show (that I know of) but it's still really cool.
BTW, in my drawing, I put them on the western side of Albuquerque, where Tsoodził (Mount Taylor) and its volcanic field could be seen in the back. It's just funnier to me if a volcano is looming over them.
Thanks for the ask!

We’re camped in Cedar Crest, NM, just north of our property and just over Sandia mountain from Albuquerque. Had a few maintenance items to attend to… First, we got a flat tire on the trailer at the last campsite in Uvalde. It was fine on the road, but fully flat after we’d been parked for a while. I’m guessing nail or barbed wire. We dropped it off at a local Walmart for repairs while we were doing the eclipse, but they didn’t fix it and also didn’t call to say they didn’t fix it. Thank you Walmart. Goodyear dealer in Albuquerque replaced it.

So New Mexico.....I like it here....I legit would/will come back. I 100% need to see more stuff then just two and a half days allows.
Also I met this cool dude here that I wouldn't mind seeing again ;) ;)
Sooo got here Thursday night, got the rental car, drove to the hotel , got settled in, changed my clothes...then got a text from Cody that he was in the lobby.
*Met Cody on FB dating a day or two before coming to NM, I added Albuquerque to my profile and he popped up as a suggestion and I liked his profile, similar things in common plus he's cute...so I sent himma like and we matched. .we talked on FB dating for a little bit, then I gave him my number and we texted until I got to NM*
Anyway, Thursday night..went to a few breweries Cody likes, had a few drinks, then went back to my hotel to hang out.. talked a lot, laughed a lot, made out and thennnn sexxxx. Sooooo good. Remember how I was all "Boo hoo hoo" I'm probably never going to find anyone that fucks me as good as Oreo did? Wellll Cody delivers and then some. I was super satisfied. SUPER.
We were both hungry after lots of sex, so we go to Whataburger and get food and then go eat.
Just reallly, really good times Thursday night.
Friday - I go do tourist stuff during the daytime and then at night, Cody wanted to know if I was down to hang more? I'm like fuck yessss.
So he gets me at my hotel, we go to a bar/restaurant he likes called Gecko..he eats. I drink.
Then we go on a drive out to Sandia (not the Peak, just the Crest) there is snow up there. So my plan of going to Sandia Peak is notttt happening. But the Crest was cool..even with snow and ice, we made it uppp there, cause Cody knows how to drive really well. If it were me alone. I would not have (also it was really dark/late).
Anyway, drove back to the hotel, hung out more..listening to Music talking and then more sexxxx. Goddd I like him.
So this is my last full day here..going to Meow Wolf over in Santa Fe, Cody suggested me taking the back roads and going through Madrid to get there. He's busy today/this afternoon with Band practice. But tonight...will I see him.again?
I hope so...

Grace in Disagreements
How can we enjoy the gospel views from the Sandia Crest or Mount Everest when Timmy is smacking his gum and Sally is blaring TikGram or InstaTok or whatever it’s called? Here are three things we should strive for: Christians who are willing to confront but aren’t eager for controversy. Christians who pursue a gentle revival, not a holy war. Christians who eavesdrop on Jesus’ intercession…

Certainly my own most memorable hikes can be classified as Shortcuts that Backfired. For example, showing my wife the easy way to drive from Deadhorse Point to Moab, via Pucker Pass, I took a wrong turn in the twilight, got lost in a maze of jeep trails, ran out of gas. We walked about twenty miles that night, through the rain, she in tennis shoes and me in cowboy boots. Better than waiting for the heat of the day. Or take the time I tried to force a Hertz rented car up Elephant Hill on the Needles Jeep Trail—another long, impromptu walk. Or one night on the eastern outskirts of Albuquerque, New Mexico, when a bunch of student drunks decided to climb the Sandia Mountains by moonlight. About twelve started; two of us made it, arriving at the crest sixteen hours later, famished, disillusioned, lacerated, and exhausted. But it sure cured the hangover.

April 13th, Santa Fe
Yesterday we took a drive along the turquoise trail which is hwy 14 from Santa Fe to I40. Beautiful drive including a 4000 ft climb up Sandia mountain. Got to the top and ran into a 6' snow bank that prevented us from getting to the observation deck that would allow us to see Albuquerque and the tram.
Went through a few small towns that had a couple of restaurants and art places but not much else and they were pretty rugged (e.g. run down) but the scenery was worth it. At lunch at Burger Boy in Cedar Crest before heading back.
Santa Fe brewery had $2 off Wednesdays so we had to have a pint before heading home.
Today we ran errands in the morning including the worst stocked Sam's Club and Walmart in the nation. Since we had to pass Rudy's on the way home we had to stop for smoked turkey lunch. Talked with the manager who told us the horrors of dealing with the city, including many many broken promises.
In the afternoon we did our chores and prepared for leaving tomorrow. Big winds tomorrow, so we are planning on an early start. Heading to the Elks in Tucumcari NM.
