So, uh... a neat little detail about Janus' makeup.
The side of his face that's normally scaled is the happy one, and the human side of his face is displeased.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Going by the assumption that the scales represent his deceitful nature and that Roman picked out the characters/costumes for all of the sides, is it fair to believe that this shows us how Roman thinks of Janus? That anything happy/nice about him is only a lie?

Tumblr media Tumblr media
ah, you know what my first thought was when i got to this scene?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
when logan started off as the side who tried to approach problems as fairly and open-mindedly as possible, and encouraged thomas to not jump to conclusions or assume ill intent.
but he gets ignored, underestimated and sidelined so often that he himself started giving in to the cognitive distortions.

I don't think enough fanders are aware of this little piece of evidence, so I'm going to post about it. (Also pardon my nearly 2 months long hiatus, been mentally shitty)
Ever wondered why Janus has that pink blemish around his eye?
Tumblr media
So, according to Joan in a past Livestream in late 2019, they confirmed that the pink was actually a scar. Yep. A scar. It makes sense since snakes and no other reptiles have that marking naturally. Apparently, it was added to make it more menacing and scary which honestly it did work at the time of his introduction, if you remember how scared people were of him then.
Tumblr media
Initially, they weren't going to explain why he has the scar, since it would have been "too intense" to do so. To be fair, at the time it would have been, but now, do we really care how intense it could've happened? Also, I feel it's a bit messed up to make people with scars out to be intimidating, especially since that scar must've been a traumatic experience. I do think that they should go back on their statement and confirm that scar canonically in an understandable, less insulting way.
Now like I said in a previous post, I know Joan isn't much apart of the team anymore however, some of Joan's influence has still carried on in recent canon. Not to mention that Joan literally created Janus as a character. Another thing Joan did mention in their statement was that the scar..has a connection to the next side which is Orange. Which got me thinking-
Does that mean that Orange will be scarred too? Or..did Orange do it to him? Honestly, it does make sense. If you look at the pink hue enough, it does resemble that of a burn scar. Orange has been associated with that of fire.🔥
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A character Janus has been connected to is Harvey Dent or Two Face due to Virgil's retort in Embarrassing Phases. According to the comics, Two Face is an ex lawyer who uses his studies in criminology and Law to commit his villainous crimes. He was chemically burned at a court trial, however some alternate versions suggest a more gruesome torture. And, it also happens to be on the same side of his body as Janus' scales and scar. This reference was made the episode right before SvS, where Janus was a lawyer. Definitely foreshadowing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another connection is to that of Zuko from Avatar the Last Airbender. We know Thomas loves this series and the character is notable here for having a very similar burn scar on the same eye. Coincidence? I think not!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, if it is answered, was it truly Orange who did it? What if it was Remus? And was it on purpose or accident? With Remus, it's more likely to be an accident but Orange we have yet to know but it's more likely purposeful. Unless, Virgil caused it and that could be something he's guilty of but who knows. I just feel bad for Janus in the sense that his snake vision must already suck and then he was nearly blinded a second time? Damn man.
But yeah..that pink is a scar..from some injury..from someone...for some reason or motive. What do you think about this?

This might have been unintentional, but I noticed in the latest incorrect quotes video that in the highlighter quote
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Logan (I think) only has orange and yellow marks on his face while Virgil and Roman additionally have purple and red on theirs
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The red is a bit similar to the orange so some of the streaks might be red, but the difference just stood out to me
This is probably a stretch, and I am currently procrastinating on an essay in the middle of the night, but after people pointed out the orange stress ball it just caught my attention
If Thomas did do this intentionally, then he is having fun with these teasers
Anyways I’m gonna go write my essay now instead of rewatching Sanders Sides clips-

yk i gotta say, rewatching sanders sides has made me realized how human logan rlly is
like okay yeah he's usually apathetic and calm and collected, but, and esp in the older vids, it's so easy to get him to go on an angry tangent with a simple disagreement with anyone rlly him and princey are so fun to watch they're like middleschoolers LMAO
also i love him being the one to teach thomas and the sides healthy ways to cope but it makes me think its bc he's had exp in learning to cope with the orange side's influence?
also since virgil was once a dark side now i wonder if he knows abt the orange's side's hold on logan and how that even works
now im curious as to what lesson logan will learn and who will be the one to teach and guide him towards it (im willing to bet it's patton, maybe roman too but yeah)

You cant tell me this wasn’t Janus’s way of learning how the real Roman would respond to being accused of not being Roman.
If Janus is planning on impersonating Roman, then knowing how Roman would genuinely react to this would help Janus act his way out of any accusations.

I cannot fucking do this anymore.... Okay, I am really not one for overanalyzing the littlest things in scenes that are probably meaningless and that people should stop thinking every little detail has a deep meaning.
BUT I was rewatching the puppet episode and someone in the comments pointed something out...
the moment when Logan gets angry? look at the staircase lighting
Tumblr media
Thanks, my brain stopped to react normally whenever I see this color in SaSi

In the fanart you drew of intrulogical on a date, how would you describe Remus' reaction to seeing orange in Logan's eyes? 👀
invasive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My heaviest Headcanon for the orange side is something to do with Impulse, and not anger and such. Remus, the embodiment of 'Dude jump out of this car rn loll' would really get along with him. (something like) Impulse has emotions that take over its being, quick to temper and probably says random out of pocket stuff. Remus and them would get ALONGGG. In my Silly little hc, Logan and the orange side were two people WHILE Remus and Roman were still one side, and merged together for some reason when Remus and Roman were split. The orange side only coming out as Logan begins to become more impulsive, I really want them to not be a split personality- but instead to sort of be like a steven universe fusion? where you can see the seperation of ideas (think of when Garnet was splitting during the sardonyx shit) It was also make somewhat sense with Remus repeatedly attempting to get Logan to be furious/Scream in the newer eps. Or im wrong who knows lol <3

I keep thinking about Janus’ name and the meaning behind it, which I think we forget about? He was ‘Deceit’ for forever and it’s hard to see past his liar and self-care functions. But you know what the root of his name actually is??
Tumblr media
Janus is the Roman god of doorways and transitions. Meaning Janus showed up at the beginning of season 2 to mark a major CHANGE for Thomas. Not only did he start the era of the dark sides, but he also took Thomas by the hand and completely changed his personal worldview.
Tumblr media
It’s interesting, the more I think about the song Change from Jan’s playlist, the more I realize that it could be about him confessing that he hopes he is strong enough to carry Thomas through his own darkness in order to come out the other side a changed, but stronger, person.
Like someone HAS to be the bad guy in all this, and it’s easier to hate a villain, so THIS is the role he’s playing.
Tumblr media
Yep, he’s become one of my absolute favourites for a reason 😌💛🖤

people talking about analogical and being like “their identities balance each other out really well” and im like NO KIDDING!!!! 😂🤣
anways heres an essay about their storylines and how they mirror each other
(everything im about to say is very mentally unconstructed and thought up in a 3am haze. and also i feel like all of my thoughts abt sasi are stagnant and surface level so please argue with me if you think im wrong..) (also these ideas have likely already been written a bajillion times. but let me do it anyway LOL)
^ with that being said i feel the need to set a definition on what makes sasi sides “dark sides” and “light sides” because like,, to me the only difference between them is the means in which they get the rest of the sides to listen to them
obviously.. none of the sides are actively trying to be evil. or trying to hurt cthomas on purpose. OBVIOUSLYY. because why the hell would they want to do that? they are all literally That Guy, and all of the sides have their own personal goals for thomas that they want him to follow. this is like. the plot. and very known information..
but remus, janus, and formerly virgil are the “dark sides”… like what? because janus manipulated and pretended to be the other sides because thats the only way he could get the others to really listen to and consider his ideas of self preservation and prioritization? and virgil would actively terrorize the others and thomas to get him to be anxious about the stuff virgil believed it was IMPORTANT for him to be anxious about? and remus. listen remus is a whole lot of “being awful for the sake of being awful” but evidently in DWIT he has a strong attraction to the idea of infamy and legacy. so even he is sort of looking out for thomas in. uhm. his own way i guess…
so obviously we know virgils storyline was;
purposely scare the others to get them to see situations from his point of view -> always get insulted and pushed away for being a “pessimist” (its his entire purpose) -> “duck out” and leave thomas and the others to discover the negative affects of zero anxiety -> only after that, finally become recognized as an important aspect of thomas
tw: mention of suicide [not in detail] (and on that note, i think its a little morbid that the light sides only fully realized virgils worth and objective after he attempted the sanders sides equivalent of suicide (which you can NOT convince me isnt what the concept of “ducking out” is. they are all metaphysical personifications of instinctual human traits. what the hell are they gonna do? become real and walk out of the house? bffr))
and whats logans journey?
be considered the [reasonable problem solver] of the group -> be placed in a MULTITUDE of situations where the range of solutions are emotions v. emotions v. emotions and suddenly be considered “cold hearted” and “uncaring” for your objective view points -> get excluded from discussions and ignored when you try and help in the only way you know how -> ???
i (and most of the fandom) fully believe logan (ESPECIALLY after WTIT) is going to start resorting to some pretty drastic measures to be acknowledged by the rest of the sides + thomas. some actions that are likely incited by a “dark side” (nudge nudge the orange guy nudge nudge). and if the harshness of the measures he takes in order to be listened to is all it takes for the rest of the dark sides to be considered “dark sides” in the first place. then uhh well… well!!!
but anyways yeah. yeah. logan and virgil kinda have mirrored character development and that is so fucking interesting. virgils path from dark to light and logans path from light to dark… sighhh.. good stuff

Ok so you know how thomas posted this a little while ago?
Tumblr media
And how it has roman saying "Tis I"?
I noticed that I don't really remember roman saying "Tis I" all that much, if ever. I mean it's definitely a thing he would say but I just can't recall a time where he did canonically say it onscreen.
You know who did say "Tis I"?
Tumblr media
Janus.
(sorry for shoddy captions, but this is him saying it in the among us video, even if it's not technically canon)
And someone else pointed out in another post how this scene in svs where janus has roman spell his name out could be him testing to see how roman would respond to accusations of impersonation, so he would know how to act like him later.
Tumblr media
If we put all that together, this could potentially be janus impersonating roman in the next video.
Tumblr media
Just saying...

thinking about how Virgil probably understands how Logan is feeling right now. how Logan feels like no one wants him around anymore, no one values his opinions, the other sides occassionally villanize him or act like he's the problem; and Virgil gets it. he knows exactly how it feels.
and that's why he doesn't make a big deal out of Logan jumping to conclusions about his present. it probably hurt Virgil to see Logan immediately assume that he didn't care enough to prepare a good present but in the end, all Virgil says is “and you thought I would just get you a newspaper”.
because he's been in this exact position before and in that moment, it was Logan who gave him some believable assurance that he is not unwanted, that his presence means something to the rest of them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so when Logan jumps to a conclusion and assumes that Virgil doesn't like him all that much, Virgil doesn't take it personally. he's just returning the favor.

I would like to suggest aromantic Patton
He doesn’t know what Thomas meant when he said “I just felt something for someone else that I had never felt before” in Moving On pt 2, and during the Five Years Later video, he didn’t seem very enthusiastic about Nico
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I propose that while Patton deals with a lot of the feelings, he doesn’t necessarily enjoy or understand them

Hihi, remember how in DWIT Virgil told Remus that he thought he was a terrible disease? Probably because he made Thomas uncomfortable?
What stops Virgil from having the same mindset pre AA? What if the reason he put on a dark persona in the first place was because he saw himself as the villain, as the terrible illness?
After all, he made Thomas uncomfortable as well, that's his job!
Oh, and what stops him from believing it in the future? Especially now that he doesn't have Patton's support, he's lost his "dark side friends" and Thomas seems to be spiralling down a dangerous road because of him and Roman?
Hihi!
