Virgil hadn’t even turned around from closing the door when he started speaking.

"I'm going to close my eyes and count to ten. Maybe I'll convince myself you were never here if you won't be here when I open them."

Janus should have known to expect such a cold welcome. He stared at Virgil’s back, willing him to turn around and hear him out, to notice and acknowledge him, even just to glare at him. The sharp interjection of Virgil’s counting cut through the air before he could speak.

“One.”

It had been instinct, to go to Virgil first. His former best friend. The one he once trusted more than anyone else.

“Two.”

Maybe Janus should have gone to someone else.

“Three.”

Patton wouldn’t have turned him away.

“Four.”

Maybe Logan would have tried to help.

“Five.”

Roman... Roman probably would have pretended he wasn’t there, too.

“Six.”

Remus would have stayed until the bitter end.

“Seven.”

He was already running out of time anyway. What did a few more seconds matter?

“Eight.”

But, if Janus was being honest with himself - and sometimes, he was - he just wanted to see Virgil one last time.

“Nine.”

Janus closed his eyes.

“Ten.”

No one was there when Virgil turned back around.

So we kidnapped @lazy-artist-coking and made them our Blake

Note time:

Bennie is NOT wearing a skirt. It is pleated shorts >:( it's just hard to draw those for me.

Bennie's design and costume is, in fact based on Ruby's. Colour changes, and a few other key differences, but overall (since they are the Ruby of team BAPS) based on Ruby.

Bennie is also the one with the closest costume to canon counterparts.

I am the Weiss (somehow).

But anyone with brains knows you don't wear too many light colours on the battle field!!

So fuck the whites and lighter light blues >:)

Also I just realized we don't have weapons, oh well.

Also I have short hair.

BUT DAMN DID I DRAW THAT SHORT HAIR FINE AS HELL.

Spot/Sara is Blake (cats...)

We kidnapped them and threw cat ears on them and they just said "oh okay"

But Spot also has brains, so we swapped the white for more blackish purple.

And now it looks like a fancy suit coat. No complaints here.

And now, to get this out of the way: I used the picture below this paragraph/section as a reference for base and clothing. I did very basic outlining of the poses with it underneath the layer, and most everything else that looks the exact same or super similar was drawn before looking back at the og screenshot. Basically, I made a one time use base of the poses and worked on it. If you have issues with that, shut up and just ignore this post.

And yes I know BAPS doesn't fit the naming thing Mr Oum made for the show. However, since this isn't even technically an au, it's just me goofing around, I like to think whatever spoof world those versions of us live in are enjoying this team name. (Also, you try making a colour sounding abbreviation out of B, P, S, and A).

There may or may not be random comics on the way with these dummies.

Your fic are truly so incredible and adorable. I absolutely loved your intrualiry fic in the courtroom it was so simple and sweet but detailed enough to tell me exactly what was going on so that I don't get too confused. The part were Remus goes " Patton Sanders you are guilty of stealing my heart" I kid you not I was giggling like a child, bouncing around my entire room and flapping my hands like a baby bird, it was sooooo wholesome!! Also SFX dukeceit, my heart brusted like a grenede. Your fic are a simple wholesome read that puts me in such a good mood. Okay so I kinda have a theory?

First off please take this with a grain of salt, I just happened to come across a few things a bit ago, especially involving orange. I mainly went off of the few lines at the end:

But to summarize, orange's a crow named Phoebus.

Here are my points with me trying to tie in Roman/Greek Mythology:

-Crows sometimes appear as a method of divination. For the ancient Greeks, the crow was a symbol of Apollo in his role as god of prophecy. Augury—divination using birds—was popular among both the Greeks and the Romans, and augurs interpreted messages based on not only the color of a bird but the direction from which it flew. A crow flying in from the east or south was considered favorable.

- Before any decision of the State was made, omens were observed through the flight of birds. This sometimes involved an augur releasing a flock of birds and watching whether they flew to the right or left. The term ‘sinister’ derives from sinistra the latin word for ‘left’ as it was considered an ill omen if the birds flew in that direction. Negative connotations of being left handed have continued for centuries and may well have stemmed from this concept.

-"It's believed that seeing a crow could symbolize deep and powerful change for a person who sees it. Other negative associations include manipulation and mischief"

-There's also adaptations of the myth of Romulus and Remus where the birds depicted are either vultures or crows.

-The myth of Coronis

-Apollo, byname Phoebus, in Greco-Roman mythology, a deity of manifold function and meaning, one of the most widely revered and influential of all the ancient Greek and Roman gods. ...His forename Phoebus means “bright” or “pure,” and the view became current that he was connected with the Sun.

-The discovery of the connection of Apollo with the apple-tree, and the derivation of the name Apollo from "apple"--a discovery due to Dr. Rendel Harris--is one of the triumphs of modern research. He has traced Apollo from the apple island Abalus, on the coast of Frisia, over the Carpathians, through the Bora district in old Servia, down through Greece to Delos, finding all along the route apple-names as halting stations for the god. Apollo himself in Thessaly is called Aploun.

-On a coin of Delphi we have the sacred table of the god represented; on it is a sprig of bay, a wine-vessel, and a pile of apples; over the apples watches Apollo's raven (or a crow in some versions), and piously abstains from pecking at them.

Where Janus Will Stand

Not to like, look too deep at what was clearly a joke video (or point out the obvious if people were already talking about this & i missed the posts), but if in the corner is where Janus does end up standing when all are present, I would be perfectly okay with that, for two reasons (that have nothing to do with moceit surprisingly). 

First, the background fits him very well I think - I really like how the “split effect” of the normal wall to his left & the blinds to his right is reminiscent of his own split face, which has always been just a physical manifestation of his innate duality as Self-Preservation & Deceit of course. It just continues to drive home that our Janus is based on the Roman two faced god of beginnings & endings. That isn’t all the Roman god represented though; high up on that list is the concept of transitions, as in transitioning through doors or gates, from life to death, youth to adulthood, etc. This also ties into his background, since visually, he’s serving as the middle piece between the two wall types. 

Second, he’s standing in a corner, much like Virgil - well, not much like Virgil, exactly like Virgil. Both Janus & Virgil serve as innate bodily functions primarily; Fight or Flight & Self Preservation. From my understanding of how the room is shaped, I think Janus is almost directly across from Virgil, though I could be wrong about that part. Regardless, it has the obvious effect of making people see Janus as “cornered,” which is the state that Self Preservation & Deceit usually kicks in. When you’re up against a wall & have no options left - you resort to these defense mechanisms automatically. 

So yeah, if this is where Janus stands usually, I’m okay with that! I quite like it.
