Day 7 - Montepulciano & San Biagio

We always like to spend our last day in Montepulciano. Of course the beauty of this schedule is you can really go anywhere on any day. In my next blog I'll talk about the places to visit just outside of Tuscany, but easily accessible from Montepulciano.

Montepulciano is a beautiful historic hill town, perfect for walking around. You can also climb to the top of the town hall (Comune di Montepulciano). Some of our favourite places in the old town of Montepulciano are:

Caffè Poliziano - perfect for a coffee in a beautiful old building with a great view of the valley.

And then there is San Biagio! I first saw it many years ago in a movie. I can't even remember what movie, maybe someone can help me. But I love it. It is my favourite church anywhere and that's a big call. But look at it.

Live from Sicily! We've experienced so much during these past two days while in Agrigento Province. A highlight has been seeing the work of the two brotherhoods from San Biagio Platini for their annual Archi di Pane, or the Easter Bread Arches. An Easter Sunday procession that unites Jesus and Mary in the center of the magnificent corridor launches the six-week exhibition of artwork made with natural elements from the surrounding countryside. It is emotional and inspirational to see in person.
