Bangalore is a major gateway to India. And, the silicon valley of India stands out from others in this incredibly diverse nation. This distinction can also be found in the origins of the city.
How, you say? Well, Bangalore was a ‘City of Gardens’ way before technology took over.
To this day, you shall come across beautiful attractions and occurrences within this concrete jungle, also known as Bengaluru.
So much so that it is a US-Favorite. Not just to develop software or for other business pursuits but equally for leisure.

I’ve been all eyes watching for you. Now the time nike air max thea atomic pink has come for complete openness. Take a little time to answer the calls. It was an art, and like all arts it demanded mastery, discipline, study. From time to time Elena raised her long, arrow-like eyelashes to look at me, and gazed long and intently as though she recognize me. I may never see my home again, nor my old wife. Air India leases 30 new aircraft to boost domestic and international operations over the next 15 months
To progressively induct 5 Boeing wide-body and 25 Airbus narrow-body aircraft from December’22
New aircraft come in addition to 16 long-grounded aircraft returned to service
New Delhi, 12th September, 2022: Air India, India's leading airline, has signed leases and letters of intent for 25 Airbus narrow-body and 5 Boeing wide-body aircraft to augment its existing fleet in the near term.
These new aircraft, which will enter service from late 2022, will increase the airline’s fleet by over 25%. Not counting the 10 long-grounded narrow-body and 6 wide-body aircraft that have been returned to service in recent months, these new aircraft mark the first major fleet expansion since Air India’s acquisition by the Tata Group earlier this year.
The aircraft being leased include twenty-one Airbus A320neos, four Airbus A321neos and five Boeing B777-200LRs.
The B777-200LRs will join the fleet between December 2022 and March 2023, and will be deployed on routes from Indian metro cities to the United States of America. Mumbai will see the addition of flights to San Francisco as well as to both of the New York area’s international airports, Newark Liberty and John F Kennedy, while Bangalore will receive a 3x weekly service to San Francisco. These aircraft will result in Air India offering Premium Economy haul flights for the first time.
The 4 A321 aircraft are expected to join the Air India fleet in the first quarter of calendar year 2023, while the 21 A320 will be inducted in the second half of 2023. These aircraft will be deployed on domestic sectors as well as to short-haul international destinations.
Commenting on the fleet expansion, Mr. Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director,
Air India, said, “After a long time without significant growth, Air India is delighted to resume expanding its fleet and global footprint. These new aircraft, together with existing aircraft being returned to service, address an immediate need for more capacity and connectivity, and mark a strong step forward. Air India has exciting expansion and renewal plans, of which these new aircraft are just the beginning.”
Air India’s narrow-body fleet currently stands at 70 aircraft, of which 54 are in service; the remaining 16 aircraft will progressively return to service by early 2023. Similarly, Air India’s wide-body fleet currently stands at 43 aircraft, of which 33 are operational. The rest will return to service by early 2023.

About Air India:
Founded by the legendary JRD Tata, Air India had pioneered India’s aviation sector and the airline's history is, in fact, synonymous with the annals of civil aviation in India. Since its first flight on October 15, 1932, Air India has spread its wings to become a major international airline with a network across USA, Canada, UK, Europe, Far-East, South-East Asia, Australia and the Gulf. The airline also has an extensive domestic network, including far-flung areas of India’s North-East, Ladakh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Air India has been a member of Star Alliance, the largest global airline consortium, since July, 2014.
India's first international budget carrier, Air India Express was launched in 2005 to meet the need for affordable services on short and medium haul routes- connecting smaller towns directly to the Gulf and South East Asia regions. After 69 years as a Government-owned enterprise, Air India and Air India Express were reacquired by the Tata group in January 2022. Post the acquisition, time-bound transformation milestones have been laid out and a series of steps have been initiated towards achieving the same in order to ensure Air India once again emerges as a world class airline.
About the Tata group:
Founded by Jamsetji Tata in 1868, the Tata group is a global enterprise, headquartered in India, comprising 30 companies across ten verticals. The group operates in more than 100 countries across six continents, with a mission 'To improve the quality of life of the communities we serve globally, through long-term stakeholder value creation based on Leadership with Trust’.
Tata Sons is the principal investment holding company and promoter of Tata companies. Sixty-six percent of the equity share capital of Tata Sons is held by philanthropic trusts, which support education, health, livelihood generation, and art and culture. In 2020-21, the revenue of Tata companies, taken together, was $103 billion (INR 7.7 trillion). These companies collectively employ over 800,000 people. Each Tata company or enterprise operates independently under the guidance and supervision of its own board of directors. There are 29 publicly-listed Tata enterprises with a combined market capitalisation of $314 billion (INR 23.4 trillion) as on December 31, 2021. Companies include Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Chemicals, Tata Consumer Products, Titan, Tata Capital, Tata Power, Tata Communications, Indian Hotels, Tata Digital and Tata Electronics.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses 2021’s first Mann Ki Baat: Highlights
Tumblr media
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that the nation was shocked to witness the insult of the Tricolour on January 26 at the historic Red Fort. The PM made the statement while addressing this year’s first ‘Mann Ki Baat‘ programme. “The nation was shocked to witness the insult of the Tricolour on January 26. We have to fill the coming days with hope and novelty,” Modi said. Prime Minister’s comments came in the aftermath of the violence on January 26 when farmers protesting against farm laws broke barricades to enter Delhi, clashed with police and vandalised property. They also entered the Red Fort and unfurled their flags from its ramparts. Here are the highlights from PM Modi‘s first Mann ki Baat address of 2021: * Today is the last day of January 2021. Are you too thinking, the way I am that 2021 had commenced just a few days ago? It just doesn’t feel that the entire month of January has passed by! This is what is termed as the speed of time. * This month, there has been very good news from the cricket pitch too. Our cricket team, after initial setbacks made a grand comeback, winning the series in Australia. The hard work and teamwork of our players is inspirational. * The ‘made in India’ vaccine is a symbol of India’s self-reliance; it is also a symbol of her self-pride. *India’s vaccination programme is turning out to be exemplary to the world. We are vaccinating our citizens faster than anywhere in the world. * In 15 days, India vaccinated 30 lakh corona-warriors whereas it took America 18 days and Britain 36 days to achieve the same feat. * This year, India is going to commence the celebration of 75 years of her Independence – Amrit Mahotsav. This is an excellent time to explore places associated with those heroes on account of whom we attained freedom. * On freedom movement I received a comment on Namo App from Jai Ram Viplava who reminded us that in 1932 a group of young patriots were killed by Britishers because they had raised ‘vande matram’ and ‘bharat mata ki jai’ slogans. * An initiative has been taken for young writers for the purpose of ‘India@75’. This will encourage young writers of all states and of all languages. You can learn more about this initiative on the ministry of eduction website. *I felt very happy on reading about how a local vegetable market in Bowenpally, Hyderabad is turning waste to electricity and bio-fuel. More than 10 tonnes of waste is being converted into 500 units of electricity and 30 kg of bio-fuel. * A similar amazing feat has been achieved by Badaut village Panchayat of Panchkula in Haryana where people are filtering drainage water and using it to irrigate fields. * I have seen another news from Kerala where divyang NS Rajappan Sahab has been taking out plastic bottles in the Vembanad Lake. *You must have witnessed a few days ago, that four women pilots from India took command of a non-stop flight from San Francisco, America to Bangalore. * You must have also observed this time in the 26th January parade, where two women officers of the Indian Air Force created a new history. * Whatever be the area, the participation of women of the country is continuously on the rise. * In Chichgaon, Jabalpur, tribal women struck by the pandemic lost their jobs at rice mill. But they formed a self-help group and started their own rice mill by raising capital from their savings and were assisted under the Ajivika Mission. The members are now paying back their debt from the mill’s profit. * Now, there is growing enthusiasm about cultivation of strawberry in Bundelkhand and one of Jhansi’s daughters Gurleen Chawla has played a huge role in it. * Recently, a month-long ‘strawberry festival’ began in Jhansi. Everyone is surprised – strawberry and Bundelkhand! But, this is the truth. * With the help of new technology, similar efforts are also being done in other parts of the country. Strawberry which was once identified with the hills, is now also being cultivated in the sandy soil of Kutch, boosting the income of farmers. * Sarmuddin, a painter from Naya Pingla village in West Midnapore, West Bengal, sold his painting based on Ramayana for two lakh rupees. In this context, I got to know about a good initiative in Bengal which I would like to share with you. * The regional office of the ministry of tourism started an ‘Incredible India Weekend Getaway’ in the villages of Bengal at the beginning of the month. The handicraft artisans from West Midnapore, Bankura, Birbhum, Purulia, East Bardhaman, organized handicraft workshop for visitors. * People are also making our art forms popular employing novel methods across the country. * You will be pleased to know that there are more than 30 yoga centres in Santiago, Chile. November 4 has been declared as ‘National Yoga Day’ in Chile. Chile is far away from India but the fragrance of Indian culture has been there for a long time. * From January 18 to February 17 we are observing ‘Road Safety Month’. We should become active stakeholders to reduce road accidents and save lives. * Friends, you must have noticed, passing through the roads that the Border Road Organization builds, one gets to see many innovative slogans. * Slogans such as ‘This is highway not runway’ and ‘Be Mr Late than Late Mr’ are quite effective in promoting road safety. * Friends, it is said that drop by drop, the pot gets filled. Every single effort of ours leads to the realization of our resolve. Therefore, the goals with which we started 2021, we all have to work to fulfil them together. West Africa: United Airlines To Add Lagos, Accra And Johannesburg To Network
Tumblr media
United Airlines have recently announced route expansion plans into Africa and Asia.
On the Africa front, the carrier is set to commence operations into Lagos, Accra and Johannesburg with the Boeing 787-9 aircraft type from 2021.
Extract From Official Press Release:
"Starting this December, United will fly daily between Chicago and New Delhi and, starting in spring 2021, United will become the only airline to operate between San Francisco and Bangalore, India and between Newark/New York and Johannesburg. United will also introduce new service between Washington, D.C., and Accra, Ghana and Lagos, Nigeria in late spring of 2021.
Now is the right time to take a bold step in evolving our global network to help our customers reconnect with friends, family and colleagues around the world," said Patrick Quayle, United's vice president of International Network and Alliances. "These new nonstop routes provide shorter travel times and convenient one-stop connections from across the United States, demonstrating United's continued innovative and forward-looking approach to rebuilding our network to meet the travel needs of our customers."
Offering nonstop service to three new destinations in Africa
United will become the only U.S. carrier serving Accra nonstop from Washington, D.C. and the only airline to serve Lagos nonstop from Washington, D.C., with three weekly flights to each destination beginning in late spring 2021. The Washington metropolitan area has the second-largest population of Ghanaians in the United States, and Lagos is the largest Western African destination from the United States. Now, with 65 different U.S. cities connecting through Washington Dulles, United will offer convenient one-stop connections to Western Africa.
United already provides seasonal, three-times-weekly service between Newark/New York and Cape Town. By adding new daily nonstop flights between Newark/New York and Johannesburg in spring 2021, the airline will operate more flights to South Africa than any other U.S. carrier, and will offer the only round trip, nonstop service from the United States to Johannesburg by a U.S carrier. These routes also offer easy connections for customers travelling to South Africa from more than 50 U.S. cities." Extract Ends.
We believe that this move is timely, especially with South African Airways struggling and not operating a number of routes currently into the United States.
Also, United had to do something, especially with the domestic market in the United States being lacklustre due to reduced Covid19 related travel demand. So expanding into these 3 key markets where the definable is a void is a smart move.
Will the routes make money?
Potentially.  It all depends on the commercial reaction from Delta and how United set up their operations in a very competitive and aggressive West African market. Delta is already established as the American carrier in Africa so it will be interesting to see how the commercial activity plays out.
Carrier Of Choice
United has the opportunity to carve a niche in these markets and set the standards going forward to place itself as the carrier of choice from Africa once the anticipated air travel markets rebound post 2021. With its impressive domestic network in the States it will certainly give Delta and the European carriers, that connect to the US via their various hubs,  real competition.
Whatever happens, these route announcements are demonstrating that United is agile and are able to spot potentially lucrative gaps in market segments - and capitalise on them.
A very calculative set of strategic moves, we wish them well.

Covid norms see 1-way US fares fly past Rs 1 lakh
Tumblr media
MUMBAI: Airfares to the US are at an all-time high for Indian passengers with the cheapest one-way fare for travel this month from cities such as Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru to places such as New York and San Francisco starting at over Rs 1 lakh. Though there are cheaper, or rather regular, fares available between India and the US, those are for flights with a transit halt in London, and so are not open to Indians. Under government guidelines for international travel, Indian passengers can board only direct flights to their destination — that is, they cannot board flights to the US that have a transit halt, say, in the Middle East or Europe (a transit halt within India is acceptable, though). “That norm has been enforced strictly in the past few weeks, which is why currently, the only two options for Indians travelling to the US are Air India and United Airlines,” said a travel industry insider. On Tuesday, the cheapest one-way fare on Mumbai-NewYork JFK/Newark flights for travel on most dates in January was Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.4 lakh. Flying from Delhi was comparatively cheaper, with one-way Delhi-Newark fare starting at Rs 95,000. Air India’s recently launched Bangalore-San Francisco flights are a hit, with hardly any seats available for travel this month, except a few like a Rs 98,000 one-way fare for travel on January 14. Pre-pandemic, close to 50% of the India-US traffic flew via the Middle East and a smaller percentage via Europe, an aviation consultancy firm said. “With supply constrained due to the norms and demand up due to the spring semester, fares have shot up,” an official said. The worst hit are students bound to the US. “The only option for those who want to cut down the cost of flying to the US would be to pay Rs 40-50,000 extra and book a return journey, say, for December. That works out cheaper. Air India offers the option of a date change for a fee of Rs 7,000, while United allows it for free provided the fare is the same, which might not be the case if the student wants to fly back in December, but during lean months that arrangement would work out,” the official added.
