Names and their meanings - Blue Eye Samurai
Mizu- means water; this can represent that Mizu travels across the waters to find her biological father to kill him. Can also represent her flexibility within her identity. There is nothing solid. Mizu has lived her life as a man and a woman. She is both white and Japanese. Mizu draws the line between a swordmaster who appreciates the art of the sword and a person stricken with grief who will stop at nothing to achieve the vengeance they so crave. During the play, Mizu was both the ronin and the onryo. There is not one identity you can give to Mizu because she is as flexible and changing as water. After all, you can't keep water in your hands forever the same way you cannot tie down Mizu to one identity.
Akemi- translates to Bright Beauty. Akemi is mentioned to look nothing short like a princess even when her kimino was covered in dirt. The bright in bright beauty could also be taken as intelligence. Akemi throughout the series becomes knowledgeable, and well tempered. Fitting of a wise princess. You could also argue that bright could refer to her ambition to be great.
Taigen- means strong, fearless, and warrior. Taigen is regarded to be a strong samurai throughout the series, with Mizu even acknowledging his strength. He definitely fits into the warrior archetype. Always wanting to restore his honour, appreciating the art of the sword, physically strong, coming from a humble background, etc. Taigen is fearless to an alarming degree. Of course, he's brave but it can be deadly to the point of recklessness. For example, he was confident he could beat Abijah Fowler's gun with his sword. Not even considering the advance technology of guns.
Ringo- means apple. This one kinda stumped me, but I have an explanation that I hope makes sense. There's the saying, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree." Usually referring to children being alike to their parents. In the beginning, we see that Ringo is helping out with his father's restaurant. Cooking noodles and serving customers. After seeing Mizu's showdown in the restaurant, he's inspired by her. Wanting to be her apprentice because Ringo wants to be a great samurai. In the season finale, Ringo is led to believe that Mizu has died. Master Eiji takes Ringo under his wing to learn the art of sword making. I believe his name refers to his willingness to always learn. Ringo learned from his father, Mizu then Master Eiji. (Taigen even teaches some stuff about fighting) I'm sure that him learning from all these people will lead up to something. Maybe Ringo will become a Jack of All Trades.

Psycho Analysis: Dee Vasquez
(WARNING! This analysis contains SPOILERS!)
“Turnabout Samurai” was always a case I skipped on my replays, because when I originally played the game I found it to be a tedious filler case loaded with bland characters and little plot progression. On my most recent playthrough, though, I realized how wrong I was; while the case is overly long and does require some obnoxious backtracking, it’s honestly an extremely fun and funny case that really helps develop Miles Edgeworth and flesh him out as a character, which kind of makes me baffled at my initial perception of the case as pointless filler. This is no “Turnabout Big Top,” that’s for sure, and that’s all the more apparent when we uncover who the true killer is.
Dee Vasquez marks a true turning point in the killers I the franchise. Frank Sahwit and Redd White are certainly not out of place in the series, but they are both one-dimensional goofballs. Not Dee; she’s an incredibly three-dimensional villain with motivations that go beyond simple greed and an actual sympathetic motivation for her crime.
Motivation/Goals: Dee Vasquez is actually rather interesting in that her motivation for murder has one of the first twists in the series: She had no motive. The murder was an accidental one in self-defense, as the victim Jack Hammer had come to her with the intent to kill her. When he did so, she shoved him off the steps and impaled him on a fence—something Hammer himself had accidentally done to another actor five years prior.
It’s pretty interesting to think that there wouldnt be another killing in self-defense until Spirit of Justice, and even then there’s a big twist to that too—but that’s a story for another time.
Breakdown: Fitting her terse and stoic personality, Vasquez actually has one of the single most understated breakdowns in the whole series, followed by her sadly and graciously accepting her defeat:
That really is it, and honestly, it's all she needs. Someone with her demeanor losing her composure for even a moment like that is pretty impressive.
Best Scene: Vasquez actually gets one of the most unique scenes in the franchise, as at the end of the third day of investigating she lures Maya and Phoenix into her trailer, where she proceeds to call upon her mafia goons in an attempt to “erase” them.
It’s pretty notable because the mafia goons actually get art here, and this is also the only time Vasquez’s mob connections are really brought up in any capacity as they aren’t mentioned during the trials, only getting briefly mentioned in discussions while investigating. It’s doubly notable because it gives Gumshoe one of his first “Big Damn Heroes” moments when he bursts in and saves our dynamic duo’s lives.
Final Thoughts & Score: Dee Vasquez is a really solid villain, and her case is where the series really grew the proverbial beard.
I think what’s most fascinating about her is how you only get some vague hinting at the relationships that surround the crime she committed, and the true nature of her relationship with Hammer is based entirely on hearsay from biased parties—can you trust what she says in regards to Hammer, considering she was blackmailing him and clearly had a great disdain for him for killing her possible lover? Can you trust Oldbag’s account of it being a tragic accident when she’s a Hammer superfan? It all makes her the sort of character where you can come up with multiple interpretations of her and have different levels of sympathy depending on how you view her actions. Like sure, it was in self-defense, but it becomes a lot less sympathetic if you see Hammer more as a victim of manipulation for something that wasn’t really his fault (although his willingness to frame his co-star Will Power out of petty jealousy certainly doesn’t make him look very good).
Helping this is just how grounded and low-key she is. She doesn’t really get wild, over-the-top reactions like some of the other killers, and while that may seem like a detriment in a series as silly as this, it actually makes her stand out a lot more especially with how later villains would become even more wild and wacky. It also helps build her up as a genuinely formidable opponent in court, and she’s actually a pretty tough egg to crack when you get her on the stand.
While I’m not going to pretend like she’s the greatest, most complex, or most tragic of all the villains (how can she be when characters like Ini Miney, Geiru Toneido, or Acro are around?) but for a first attempt at a more complex villain that isn’t just killing for the money, she’s a really solid one. A nice solid 7.5/10, I’d say. I think really her biggest problem is that the case immediately following hers features perhaps the single most sympathetic murderer in the original trilogy, as well as another stoic hardass villain who has a far more glorious breakdown, which leaves her being a bit overshadowed. Still, for what she is, she's a remarkably solid villain.

Smth I’ve been thinking over for a while is the sheer amount of people who will see children’s media that has intense, yet age-appropriate storylines and themes and immediately declare “THIS IS NOT FOR CHILDREN!!!!! THIS IS ACTUALLY FOR ADULTS!!!!!!”
Children deserve impactful, intense storylines too. Whatever happens just can’t be intensely graphic. My favorite book series as a child had suicides, dictatorships, war, conspiracies, and all sorts of gruesome things. Yet the author kept it appropriate for the young audience by not including graphic detail and keeping it relatively simple. Another thing I’ve watched recently was the series finale of Gravity Falls. There’s a billion year old demon who’s been planning a dimensional takeover for eons simply to bring down total anarchy, who uses Faustian deals and lies to achieve his goals. He’ll do anything, including killing two children, to achieve it. Yet, it stays appropriate for children by abstaining any realistic gore or heavy topics.
Children deserve more than just cuddly sunshine and rainbows and keys jangling in front of them. That’s why the same millennials who cry out about this read shit like warrior cats, played ocarina of time and Majora’s Mask, and watched shows like samurai jack. It’s fun, it’s entertaining, fit for a developing kind who wants to feel grown up without showing them actual adult themes.

I feel kind of bad for Jay because instead of watching his extreme sports race being live streamed his little brother is spending that time almost exclusively in Alex and Jack's kitchen, waiting to find out is going to survive his trip to Bath.
I also greatly appreciate that the wardrobe of the series actually has a lot of pieces that show up over and over again all through three seasons. Tom's hideous cardigan of course immediately comes to mind and his colour-block windbreaker. Also love that Alex and John are shown wearing almost identical sweatshirts and corduroy jackets in the reenactment on the bridge scenes.
The penultimate episode of the series is so weird because of the time cut. First you have Alex being dropped home presumably quite early in the morning as the autopsy files Yassen sent to Julia were from 8:00 a.m. and then when Alex is showered and changed and has his first kiss with Kyra it's dinner time so he must have crashed and slept for a while (which makes sense given he probably has not slept much if at all in the last 2 days).
Then by the time he gets back from wherever that bridge is, Tom has gone home and Kyra is asleep and Jack is waiting up for him in the kitchen with a cup of tea and her bonnet on which means you know that she is ready to fall into bed any second and also A++ costumeing for including Jack's bonnet!
Anyhow inside my head, Jay placed third in his race but has a sprained wrist, Tom becomes his official videographer, and Alex's belated 18th birthday party (since he spent his actual 18th birthday having the living shit kicked out of him by the SCORPIA cadets) is an incredibly quiet private affair where Jack makes her famous call to the local for take-away for dinner and Tom finally gets Alex to agree to a Seven Samurai and Ghost Dog double feature.
Also we now know that from the 12th of April 2021 (the last day of series 2) to the 6 February 2023, in between searching for SCORPIA and the Widow, Alex and Tom are in Sixth Form and sat their GCSE exams. Mrs Jones specifically references Alex applying to the Security Services after uni, and Tom is also hoping to go to uni so he can study film but his grades are dismal and he is concerned.

Hi!!!! There's some questions
1. Who is your favorite character from Ror and Twst?
2. Have you watched Wind Breaker?
3. Do you write Oshi no ko as well?
4. What's your favorite drink? ( I need to ask this)
5. What's your favorite animal?
6. What's your first anime/show/game?
Here you go. Okay, maybe some questions are a little dumb but i am interested. I really love your writing 💖💖 Good job!!! Have a good day/night ❣️
Hello there @kanroji-san!! I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day/night and thank you for the compliment on my work!
Now onto the questions;
┍━━━━━━━━━━━━━ » • » 🌺 « • « ━━━━━━━━━┑
『1. I have a lot of favorite characters when it comes to shows, and they do change quite often and when they're going from a book/manga to a film/series, it may change. But, for the sake of this being a shorter answered question;
➥ For Record of Ragnarok I like Buddha, Heracles, Thor, Zerofuku, Jataka, and Kojiro Sasaki the most. ➥ And for Twisted Wonderland it's Azul Ashengrotto, Jamil Viper, Rook Hunt, Idia Shroud, Ortho Shroud, Malleus Draconia, and Che'nya the most.
『2. I have not watched nor read the Wind Breaker anime/manga. But, when I looked it up (since I have been watching so many different things at once) I have to admit, it looks interesting.
『 3. I do not write for Oshi no Ko, but I have gotten interested in both the anime and manga. It, to me, is a very interesting premise. But overall, no I do not write for that. Sorry.
『4. My favorite drink is a harder one to answer since there are quite a few different things I like to drink. But my top four most drank ones are; Starbuck's Mocha Cookie Crumble with Coffee, Strawberry Lemonade, Hot Chocolate (preferably the Brooklyn Beans), and White Milk.
『5. My favorite animal is one of the easiest ones I can answer for you though! I love dogs and Wild African Dogs the most. But, my favorite dog breeds are Newfoundlands, Pugs, Golden Retrievers, and Teddy Bears.
『6. Finally, my favorite show/anime/game are all different.
➥ My Favorite TV Shows; Friends, Samurai Jack, and Gravity Falls ➥ My Favorite Animes; Demon Slayer, Dragon Ball, and Diabolik Lovers (I like the way it's so goofy but trying to be serious) ➥ My Favorite Games; Minecraft, Checkers, and Uno (I never really played many digital games)
I hoped I answered these well for you! Anyways, I hope you have a great rest of your day.night again! See ya!

Rating 500+ Theme Tunes - #8: Samurai Jack
I don't know about you, but when I hear the name Genndy Tartakovsky, my first thought is always Samurai Jack. More than Dexter or his Star Wars series, this is the Tartakovsky show to me. To the uninitiated, Samurai Jack follows a prince referred to only as Jack as he fights to return to his time and defeat the evil demon who flung him into the dystopian future. He's also a samurai, just in case you were wondering.
Despite being widely considered as one of the greatest shows to ever grace Cartoon Network, there's a reason Samurai Jack has a certain "cult classic" quality to it. The show never received all the backing it needed from the network, being cancelled before its story could be concluded as intended. Fortunately, its fifth and final season was able to release 13 years later and put a cap on this story and unique show. The show is hailed for its focus on animation and visual storytelling compared to its dialogue-heavy contemporaries.
Now, I mentioned the "cult classic" nature of the show to justify the following: I have never seen an episode of Samurai Jack. I was definitely aware of it growing up, and it looks pretty cool, but by the time we got CN on our TV, the revived Season 5 was closer than the original run's end. I feel like it was on late some nights, but that was a rare time to have unrestricted television access. I would love to check it out sometime! For now, I'll just check out the theme tune.
Samurai Jack Theme Tune (Seasons 1-4)
Samurai Jack Theme Tune (Season 5)
For the first four seasons, we are welcomed by an evil monologue from Aku, the aforementioned evil demon. He's voiced by the late Mako, who also voices Uncle Iroh in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Following his passing, Greg Abbott would succeed him, which I wanted to mention as I never would have noticed if I hadn't read it. This narration is suitably informative and of course well-performed, setting the more serious tone the show can take on. In Season 5, this is replaced by narration from Jack which I feel takes on a much less fun tone given the perspective.
As for the music, that remains the same across seasons. It's a relatively simple song, incorporating both hip-hop and Asian inspirations. It definitely drives home Jack's single-minded goal to return to his time, though it isn't a particularly engaging tune personally, largely due to its short length and repetitiveness. That's not to say I don't like it though, I think it's a pretty cool intro and paired with the monologue it makes for a decent primer for some Samurai Jack action.
Taking all of this into account, I have to look largely at my own gut feeling. This intro is largely unique which I have a great deal of respect for, though the end product doesn't exceed beyond the pack in my opinion. Still, it does what it needs to do, and I know my thoughts are definitely in the minority. For me, this intro gets a C. I do feel like watching some Samurai Jack now though.
Stay tuned for more and be sure to send in any suggestions for other shows you'd like to see done (after the 500 already in the pipeline that is). Check out the intro to this series here, and check out the tier list.

Anyway if you have max now would be a good time to watch to Samurai Jack. Long story short a young man is destined to defeat the ultimate evil with a magic sword. Before the finale blow was struck Aku flung Jack into the future where is evil is law. He spends the rest of the series trying to get back to the past and destroy the shogun of sorrow once and for all.
It originally ran for 4 seasons then a 5th one was made years later. It starts off strong but the ending is um, an ending. Still worth the time if you've never seen it before or haven't seen it in a while. Pirate if you have to because fuck that David Z guy
At best it's encouraging and hopeful. At worst it provides a decent distraction.
#samurai jack#aku#it's a really good show#i and otherd had issue with the last season#but it doesn't hurt the rest of the show#keep in mind i'm a millenal and there's a touch of nostalgia making my opinion biased#but if you like action and early 00s cartoon network shows#this is right up your alley

Hey guys! I’ve been working on ideas to write a film based off of the books, the Guardians of Childhood and wanted your input!
Now, I’m against writing a sequel to the first movie only because I feel like Rise didn’t set up enough to write a sequel that people would go to see. It didn’t really show the growth of the Guardians as a team. In other words, the movie felt like it started halfway through their story, like there should have been a movie before setting up everything in Rise. Not to mention the fact that the movie isn’t very huge with audiences minus us and Jelsa fans, it would be hard to really get us involved with the characters stories UNLESS it was just redone. If Dreamworks started at the beginning of the Guardians’ journey, it would have made the death of Pitch in the finale of Rise feel much more impactful. Set up and payoff - that’s what a story needs. You know, it’s actually a good thing that the books aren’t as popular because then there’s a chance to bring these characters into the movie world with a BANG. Plus, there are fans of Rise Of The Guardians who would get excited over a sequel or ANYTHING involving the team!
So, that brings me here! l’ve come up with some ideas, but overall, I want the basics the be:
• The look of the universe, the world building itself and characters will look and feel as they did in the books, with their respective powers and traits. (Yup, I’m looking at you Nightlight!) I will also add little easter eggs to make Rise fans happy!
• 2D - I chose the 2D animated design because I feel like the order to make this, I need to push the boundaries as to how the characters can move. You know the original episode of the series, Hazbin Hotel? The way the character Alastor stretched and moves when he first walks into the room upon meeting Charlie? It would be great if Pitch had that sort of movement. (I’m still debating on an Anime, Blue Eye Samurai look or an Arcane matte painting, combined with the character designs from the books.)
Now I’m going to ask you guys some questions in a bit! I need some fan input into what you guys would want to see with these characters! I don’t want Jack being the main character only because I want to try something different, but if it comes down to you guys wanting Jack as the MC, then he can continue to be the protagonist!
Alright, guys..
Will be posting the second poll after this one is up!

The Ink Demonth 2023 - Day 14. Puddles
Day 14. Puddles Crossover: Star vs. the Forces of Evil Any help would be appreciated in such a huge task, so...
If someone doesn't know what's going on here and is going to watch this wonderful series - I won't say anything more here. Anyone who knows the ending of this serial knows what is happening on the picture. By the way, while drawing this, I was thinking about the endings of various animated series and came to the conclusion that the ending from "Star vs. the Forces of Evil” is probably the best one I have ever seen. I have nothing to fault him, neither in terms of execution, plot or character behavior. Even "Gravity Falls" pissed me off with a few elements after final battle, and I found the endings of "Kipo" or "Samurai Jack" (Swim Adult's one) to be very weak ("Jack" was considered the most disappointing ending for me). "Star"'s is great. So: bravo, creators. Well, it's confirmed that it is possible to create a good, interesting and touching ending! (I totally cry every damn time here T_T)
I really enjoyed making the background here. Probably the coolest in term of process of making background I made in this year Ink Demonth.
PS. In case anyone hadn't noticed, Star and Marco appeared 2 years ago in another Ink Demonth... Also: Eclipsa.

I have something serious to say
As I'm sure many of you know, it's been announced that David Zaslav has decided to shut down Rooster Teeth. For many, this decision has effectively killed RWBY. I've spent the last few days trying to figure out how I feel about this situation.
On one hand, I hate it. RWBY is an incredible series, and the idea that it won't go on or get any sort of proper closure angers me. It's a decade of work being thrown down the drain because one CEO (death to CEOs) deciding, "Nah, too much work."
On the other, I'm...regrettably used to it. Desensitized, even. The problem with a series that has an over-arching narrative is that there's a good chance the parent company might not want to keep it going. That it would putter out before reaching the end.
My first brush with this sort of thing was in the 90s, with The Pirates of Dark Water. It took several cycling through the reruns to realize that Ren's crew was never going to get all 13 Treasures of Rule.
Then there was Samurai Jack in the 2000s. After four seasons, Cartoon Network stopped Jack's quest. It was about 13 years later that the Samurai was allowed to go back to the past.
the Mega Man Legends series also puttered out with Mega Man still trapped on that space station. An attempt to make a third game was made in 2010, but didn't amount to anything.
And even when a series is allowed to go to the end, it can seem rushed and a bit lacking. Gravity Falls would have made more sense to go for 3 seasons, but the creators thought that would have drawn out the story too much. The Owl House did get cancelled, but was allowed three specials as its third and final season. And, as I've said before, Samurai Jack.
I'm still holding onto hope that the CRWBY will be able to find a way to keep the story going. If a kickstarter is put up, I will definitely put some money in it.
This is the first time I've heard of an entire company being thrown under a bus though. I know there have been controversies about Rooster Teeth, and I can't say much on the subject. But I can't in full honesty be happy about layoffs. It's not something I want to promote or endorse.
I'm not sure where I'm going with this. My point is, the situation sucks, but I'm going to keep on keeping on.
Peace out.

Note
As a casual enjoyer of RWBY there is some solace that many series make a comeback. Samurai Jack was dropped without a conclusion, then came back for a finale, for example. It may take a while, but there is always hope.
I absolutely agree, especially with the sheer amount of love that this show brings in. It's one that means so much to so many people, and I not going to give up on the idea that it can end the way it deserves.
(I mean, really. It's all set up. We'd probably only need One more Volume. God.)
