Online Shopping Tips for Portable Speakers in New Zealand
When it comes to enhancing your music experience, portable speakers are a must-have gadget. Their convenience, portability, and impressive sound quality make them a popular choice among music enthusiasts. However, shopping for portable speakers online, especially in New Zealand, can be daunting due to the multitude of options available. Here at Hotspot Electronics, we aim to simplify your shopping experience with these essential tips. 1. Determine Your Needs Before diving into the online shopping world, it’s crucial to identify what you need from a portable speaker. Consider factors such as:
Usage: Are you looking for a speaker for indoor use, outdoor adventures, or both?
Portability: Do you need a lightweight, compact speaker for easy transport?
Durability: Will your speaker be exposed to water, dust, or rough handling?
Understanding your specific requirements will help narrow down your options and ensure you choose a speaker that fits your lifestyle. 2. Set a Budget Portable speakers come in a wide price range. Setting a budget beforehand can help you focus on options within your price range and avoid overspending. At Hotspot Electronics, we offer a variety of speakers to suit every budget, ensuring you get the best value for your money. 3. Research Brands and Models Familiarize yourself with popular brands and their models. Brands like JBL, Bose, Sony, and Ultimate Ears are known for their quality and reliability. Reading reviews and watching video comparisons can provide insights into the sound quality, battery life, and durability of different models. 4. Check Sound Quality Sound quality is a critical factor. Look for speakers with clear, balanced sound and good bass. Many online stores, including Hotspot Electronics, offer detailed descriptions and customer reviews that can help you assess the sound quality. If possible, visit a local store to listen to the speaker before making an online purchase. 5. Consider Battery Life For a portable speaker, battery life is vital. Depending on your usage, you might need a speaker that lasts all day on a single charge. Most product descriptions include battery life details, and reviews often discuss real-world performance.

Bluetooth Connectivity: Ensure it has a stable and easy-to-connect Bluetooth option.

Voice Assistant Integration: Some speakers offer integration with Siri, Google Assistant, or Alexa.
Charging Ports: Some models come with USB ports to charge other devices.
7. Compare Prices Prices can vary significantly between different online retailers. Use price comparison tools and check multiple websites to find the best deal. Hotspot Electronics often runs promotions and discounts, so keep an eye out for those to get the best price. 8. Read Return and Warranty Policies Before making a purchase, understand the return and warranty policies. This ensures that you can return the speaker if it doesn’t meet your expectations or if there are any defects. Hotspot Electronics provides clear and customer-friendly return and warranty policies to ensure your satisfaction. 9. Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For maybe half a year, I wanted an Android tablet with a pen after hating the idea for almost a decade because Android's tablet ecosystem is garbage and it lacked good art software for a while.
Currently, there's a 2024 Galaxy S6 Lite refresh that's exclusive to Amazon at around $250, and I jumped on that to try out the Android artist space again.
Since I already have a tablet PC and an ipad to do my main art projects, I didn't need a high end android tablet. Just something I can take on my regular commutes for notes and doodles which the other two devices are too bulky for.
I can tell you though, that this is pretty slow. Takes a while to load anything, charges maybe half as fast as modern phones or tablets in the $500 range, and while Clip Studio ran fine for drawing, I've had slight lag using the Concepts App. I suspect you can't make print-resolution comics with this thing, but it draws, and i do all my media consumption on other devices anyway.
Another thing to note is that the pen (which is included, yay) looks exactly the same as the S-pens that come with the normal Galaxy S models (at least my S7 from a few years ago), but it's not as weighted because there's no bluetooth hardware inside. I'm drawing with it fine, though I do switch pens sometimes.
Tumblr media
If anyone is interested, I can write a long info post one of these days about all the S-Pen alternatives I know of and tried. At first, I was gonna save up extra money to get the new XP-Pen android tablet, but I like the flexibility of Wacom-powered EMR pens where i can choose between things like comfortable grip or something that magnetically attaches to the device or something. It's also easier to get cute cases and screen protectors for samsungs since they've been around forever!
Tumblr media
There's three versions of the S6 lite. The new one has a slight spec bump and runs Android 14, so it should last a few years (both the XP Pen and Huion Androids are permanently stuck on Android 12). I believe the 2020 version is still supported, upgradeable to Android 13 and the third version is the 2022 version. All three are exactly the same in size and features- they just have different processors and android versions out of the box.
Conclusion:
I won't call this a beginner's tablet. If you're a beginner artist who hates apple and wants a standalone drawing tablet, but you also happen to have $500-700 standing around, splurge in getting a better tablet. If you don't like it for drawing, it can still be used for media consumption.
I don't regret this purchase because it does what I need it to in the most basic sense, but I would only recommend it if your needs for an android drawing tablet are the same as mine (super casual art and being able to try out android versions of drawing apps), or you are on a super tight budget. I believe the Galaxy S9 FE and the XP-Pen Magic Drawing Pad are good mid-tier models while the normal Galaxy S9/Plus/Ultra are the high tier.
This is probably the cheapest EMR Android tablet that comes with a pen and oh boy does the pen write so smooth!
I wish i can retire from using an ipad for art, but I need to learn how to use Clip Studio first since I've become overly-dependent on Procreate.
ah well!

Okay. Let's see if I can get some help with this, now that I'm not venting.
I have:
a Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet I bought second-hand, that had been factory-reset
the case, stylus, and charger-thingy which the above came with
a google account
a laptop I'm accessing the internet on, plus the wifi password
calmed down since last night
figured out how to turn the tablet on, and how to shut it down
apparently connected my google account to that tablet
I do not have:
a phone that can receive text messages
a Samsung account
experience with tablets or smartphones
coping methods that let me work THROUGH frustration instead of just stepping away from the problem and only coming back when I feel better (it's low priority compared to the other things I work on with my therapist)
easy access to someone in-person who can explain things to me
Desired end goal:
my mother (whose current internet access is only via desktop computer) is able to access the internet and not be bored when she's stuck in bed
my mother is not subjected to ad-ful browsing
my mother does not have access to my google account or any of my internet history
I can take pictures of my handicrafts, and share them online, without having to use the really old digital camera that's currently my only option
Assumed steps towards that end goal:
download Firefox on the tablet
download an ad-block for Firefox
log out of google and remove any synched information that remains on the tablet
figure out how the internet works on the tablet so I can show it to my mother (long covid means she likely won't be able to figure it out herself)
mess around with figuring out how the camera works

This is what my ipad looks like, in case anyone is curious about it. I also use it for art, as it has Procreate on it, and I am unable to afford a second ipad just for AAC.
I used to use a Samsung tablet as my AAC device, but there are not many options for apps on Android, and what little there is to choose from I did not end up liking... I hope that one day I will be able to afford a second ipad for me to use strictly for aac.

omg omg omg another hc post?!?!?! in 2 days?!?!?! that's crazy
anyways here's the ninja and what tech they have!
nya
okay i think her battlestation would be like. slightly above average, but she most definitely uses linux since she's too annoyed by the mac price point and windows just didn't do it for her. BUT she has an iphone 13 in blue, duh
i don't think she'd have an ipad honestly...i feel like she just draws all her blueprints for the stuff she makes on paper then scans it because she likes the feeling on paper or sumn...
she probably only has wired earphones and trusts only wired earphones.
jay
jay has like three laptops all for different things and an ipad and a samsung tablet. no way he doesn't have allat to play games on their respective platforms frfr... (e.g. pjsk is region-locked and the japan and global versions of the game have some slight differences, so some people have to log out of their apple ids and change it to a jp one so that they can play the jp version. it was tedious, so jay just got 2 ipads.)
his iphone would be like the midnight blue 13 pro max or something. he'd probably have one of those stupid gaming phones too (he bought one off the market, found that it didn't run properly, and just made another one that actually worked himself. LMAO)
specifically has the apple wired earphones and airpods. i don't really think he's a headphone guy.
lloyd
the green ninja unfortunately does not have the option to buy a green macbook, so he settled with a space grey 13 inch air with the M1 chip and bought a green skin for it. 💀 fortunately, he could buy his phone in HIS green with the iphone 13 pro max once again!
he's not an ipad kid. he doesn't have one, and he doesn't need one. he might have a borgwatch though.
lloyd however IS a headphone boy and he wears sony XM4s like the elite he is. augh.
kai
latest iphone, latest mac, latest ipad, that has red options. nothing else needs to be said for this social media DIVA ❤️‍🔥
airpod pros for this boy. he has red headphones from beats by dre but uses it purely for aesthetic.
cole
the bare minimum. HOWEVER, his phone would be a galaxy S23 bc i said so. and he has nothing earbuds! don't be fooled by the non-apple name those are the same price as a base airpod model i think. yeah but cole mainly uses his phone to browse and listen to stuff, so he's alright. 🙏
zane
i don't really think i need to explain this
arin
he probably has one of those limited edition ninja x xiaomi collabs where there's a subtle design of lloyd's gi (like the armoured robes from s11) or something like that. this guy is too big a fanboy to not have purchased every single thing the ninja were remotely associated with.
he wears bose quietcomfort 45 headphones. HE'S JUST LIKE ME FR
sora
also kind of enough said?? iphone 10,000 or something. or at imperium's rate of technology advancement there won't even be phones anymore. but strictly speaking if we were to talk real world terms she'd probably have an oppo or a vivo (trust me some of these brands from china are ridiculously good and RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP so yeah)
wyldfyre
she would much rather lay in the grass and smell the air than look at a screen. but, in case of emergencies, she has a nokia indestructible.
riyu
he's the ipad kid. he's the one with the 2 terrabyte ipad pro 13 inch 2020 that stores all his shows or something.
OKAY THAT WILL BE ALL! thank you for your kind attention and i shall shrink back into my corner of the internet now

Hurray! Guys, I was given a tablet for March 8th, and now I can draw on it) This is the Blackview Tab 16. Of course, I wanted to take a Samsung, but there wasn't one in the store, so we took another one. And it's very cool, it came with a stylus, glass and a case at once, only the keyboard was missing for a complete set. In general, expect new cool posts from me)

is there are an alternative to an iPad that's not apple? apple just really sucks in a Lot of ways regarding like. charging and downloading apps can be such a Pain in the Ass. i know some artists that draw on just tablets and it works out really well for them (idk the specifics im so sorry, am not a tech guy, but it might be an option)
idk laptops can be cumbersome but ipads are as shit as everything else apple does. my main concern with it would be repairing it if anything goes wrong, especially considering they aren't cheap. like they work great until they don't and there might be alternatives that will have a similar level of functionality but will be cheaper and less risky in case anything happens
the main appeal of the ipad is that regrettably the apple pencil is just really really good. and also im very used to ios cuz i’ve got an iphone. the restrictiveness of it is definitely why i considered a laptop instead.
i think if i didn’t get an ipad i just wouldn’t wanna get a tablet at all cuz at that point i prefer a proper laptop. the perfect solution would be something like the lenovo thinkpad detachable, which is just a proper computer except the screen detaches, but the reviews on that one weren’t great and the price is way too high.
the samsung galaxy book 2 360 13” is almost perfect for me in every way, with the only real problem being that it’s JUST a bit too big to fit in my handbag, so i’d have to put it in a backpack instead, whereas the ipad i could just have within reach at all times
