On Moon’s Relationships with the Choi Family
Excerpts from The Choi Family Entanglements, recently updated on May 13, 2023
▲ Pictured: These are the only known photos of Choi Seon-gil (also written as Sun-kil Choi) and Sun Myung Moon together. They were taken around early 1955 by Eu Hyo-min, probably in Seoul. He explained that Choi had challenged her husband when she caught him having sex with two women.
From a Japanese article: “It is complicated. This is the part that has been erased from the history of the Unification Church.
Sun Myung Moon’s first wife was Choi Seon-gil LINK
She was the niece of Choi Seong-mo (see obituary below)
Choi Seon-gil’s uncle was Choi Seong-mo
He was the brother of Choi Seon-gil’s father.
Choi Seong-mo’s wife was Lee Duk-sam. [He married Lee when he was 29. Lee left Choi to follow Sun Myung Moon.]
Choi Seong-mo’s eldest daughter: Choi Soon-shil [She arrested for group sex in Moon’s church in July 1955.] LINK
Choi Seong-mo’s second daughter: Choi Soon-wha LINK [She is the mother of Sam Park, born in 1966, fathered by Sun Myung Moon.]
Choi Seong-mo’s eldest son: Choi Soon-yeong LINK [He inherited the chaebol/business]
Choi Seong-mo’s second son: Choi Soon-kwang
Choi Seong-mo’s third son: Choi Soon-kil
I can understand the feelings of Mr. Choi Seong-mo, who was the husband of Mrs. Lee Duk-sam. He pushed the police to investigate Teacher Moon, and he wanted to beat the Unification Church. At first I thought Mr. Choi Seong-mo hated Teacher Moon because Moon married Choi Seon-gil, who was Mr. Choi’s niece. But apparently he was indignant about the relationship between his wife and Teacher Moon. That is why he called Teacher Moon ‘the devil’.
It’s become a mess.”
[One of the sons, either Soon-kwang or Soon-kil, was active against Sun Myung Moon, but was heavily persecuted by the organization.]
▲ Pictured: Oh Yeong-choon is standing on the right, next to Hak Ja Han and her mother Hong Soon-ae. Oh was involved in the selection of Hak Jan Han as the wife of Sun Myung Moon. This photograph was taken at around the time of that selection. Oh raised money to get Moon out of jail in 1955, following the Ewha Womans University sex scandal. LINK
Oh Yeong-choon witnessed to Lee Duk-sam in Busan. After Lee Duk-sam joined, she brought her two daughters, Choi Soon-shil and Choi Soon-wha, into the UC. Choi Soon-yeong who was younger resisted recuitment, even though he was under pressure from his mother to join. Moon took the daughters to Seoul to be with him in the fall of 1953. It has been reported that he “restored” the two of them in a small hotel near the Seoul train station. Soon-shil went to Yonsei University and Soon-wha to Ewha Womans University. In 1964 Soon-wha traveled to Washington, DC, to go to university there. She wanted to get away from Moon. In 1965, during his first world tour, Moon spent three months in DC having sex with Soon-wha, aka Annie. He did not leave the US until he knew she was pregnant. Sam Park was born on January 28, 1966.
▲ Pictured: Sam Park is sitting next to Hak Ja Han. Sam was hidden in Bo Hi Pak’s family and did not discover who his biological parents were until he was 12 or 13.

No sleep post time gotta talk about YIIK
Most people seem content recognizing YIIK as a really bad game and may give the concession of "having okay visuals/music", but I think people really undervalue that the failures are all in spite of good ideas.
A great example is Vella, who is from another reality. They actually attempt to hint at this in several ways before the reveal with the most baffling of all is a scene I've never once seen someone think about, which is the infamous "Vaguely Ethnic scene".
The intended meaning is that Alex noticing her being from a separate world (which appears to be intended in her design being not quite the same as everyone else but idkkk??) but not knowing exactly why. What it actually succeeds in doing is making Alex look like he's a weird dickhead and doesn't understand basic decency, which he doesn't.
It might have worked as an idea if she was more developed as being an outsider or feeling out of place...but that just doesn't happen, and a majority of her dialogue is expository.
In theory, she's a good character. In actuality...
YIIK I.V screenshot
I'm not one to judge as a smut maker, but it's pretty clear that they want to copy Personas waifu baiting approach to party design...and I just don't think Alex YIIK needs a harem, you know?
You can actually find more then a few remnants of the original game in various alphas, where plot is explained and things like the Golden Alpaca are set up and given meaning before hand, rather then with no explanation whatsoever.
I could go on for another six pages about this, but here's a good takeaway:
YIIK works under the idea that all realities are Canon with every version of the game acting as all canon, including older versions of the game that were never released
#yiiking out#alex yiik#Im not going to use the official tag the creators might see#Wouldnt want to discourage them#Send me asks about YIIK ill fucking write an essay about Sammy Pak#When you die im going to make a game where your favorite blorbo cries over your grave#I am constantly haunted by Proto Micheal

Hello again, sorry for today's images being crap i just felt like it. Anyway since there aren't any super mysterious strange yiik youtubers with weird videos that im aware of today's topic of discussion is the legend herself Semy Pak.Also my right arm hurts rn so i will be a little more insane today ok, also since this is just pure YIIK talking and speculation be prepared for just my raw consciousness and what i think about things in YIIK. So uh first of all for anyone who haven't realised it yet ALEX EGGLESTON DIDN'T MEAT SEMI PAK HE GASLIGHTS YOU INTO BELIEVING HE DID HE ACTUALLY SPENT THE WHOLE DAY EAGLING HIS STON TO HIS REFLECTION ON THE MONITOR !!! Sources cited: when Alex comes home he keeps yapping about some other random bullshit that isn't anyhow connected to Sammy and also on the next day he mentions not being able to get "the video" out of the head, not the events. He also seems surprised when Vella mentions her name on the phone in Chapter 2. So now with that cleared up let's start with the very first appearance of Sammy and what comes before that. First of before we get to Sammy we meet another woman, a Blue one, she mentions that Alex is "not supposed to be back here" and disappears.
I want to instantly point out how her outfit, skin color and hair color are exactly the same as one of Spectre Sammy's, personally i think that counting YIIK's cyclical narrative the Blue Woman is the previous missing woman that Alex was obsessing over(possibly even Jae-Hwa Wen herself), with the graves you see in Factory Hotel being graves of previous Sammys and Dalis, the one in park looking area could also be referencing the "The Death of Semi Pak" post.
I also want to point out the tree that Sammy sits on, it has a mirrored Borjgali symbol, that being the symbol of tree of life, the sun and the eternity. With it being placed on a literal tree i think it's safe to assume that the tree in question is the tree of life, with other 2 meanings being the eternal cycle of yiik's narrative and this tree being the symbolical beginning and the end of all Sammys. This same tree also appears in KNN ending.
After that she gets taken by the Mysterious Star Creatures during the elevator ride and while the original is interesting too i want to talk about the I.V version of this cutscene. It ends with this scene of Sammy getting killed in an Iron Maiden which is a really similar to one of Asuka Furutani getting turned into a Digital Soul Vessel in Deviation Perspective 1, while ost "Digital Soul Vessel assembly line" plays on the background, so i think it's fair to assume that in this scene she gets turned into a Digital Soul Vessel, while the literal God takes her body.
Now let's talk about the lore implications of this scene. Personally i think that the Digital Soul Vessel for Sammy is the ONISM1999, the one that Alex specifically downloads on his computer and that is presented to us as a website, with details of who she is manifesting as different posts, tho i can't be sure what are the full implications of it since i think there will be something new going on about Sammy in I.V that the Digital Soul Vessel creation hints to. Anyway let's move on to the next appearance of Sammy. The Librarian, with talking about this character i want to point out something probably obvious but important to understanding Sammy, Sammy is parallel to Alex. The story of her life that she tells is Alex's, the traits that Sammy shows are Alex's, "oh no i've become my mother", her story of wanting to go far away but ending up in the mind dungeon is what's happening to Alex. The fact that she appears in the Mind Dungeon is important too, the Alex's Mind Dungeon is not just a manifestation of his mind, Vella gave Alex a phone number for it, the same Vella who tells Alex about how in her universe you can call the dead, the Krow is the connection between the alive and the dead in Alex's mind she is connecting Alex with shattered pieces of time and matter floating in the Soul Space and Alex sees a parallel of himself as a dead because he Wishes He Could Just Disappear because these ONISM posts are his and by posts i also mean the "Fuck it. I'm done." because Rory is parallel to Sammy and both Rory and Sammy are parallel to Alex because he is internally a deeply traumatized character and i can't not speak about it.
So uh let's i should probably explain in levels what i just said rn so uhhh. First of all, why Sammy is parallel to Alex. If we don't count stuff like Sammy literally telling us about who Alex is from his head as if she's talking about herself there's still plenty of other hints and signs through the game starting literally from the Title Screen:
When you get to the ending 1 of the game you see that the King and Queen are both Alex, they are parallel to each other despite being the opposites, the concept characters of The Digital and The Spiritual in game are parallel and so are characters who fit into them and it just so happens that literally every love interest that Alex has is the Digital to his Spiritual and is parallel to him, including Sammy. Then i want to mention the phone calls at the end of Chapter 5. They may seem very random and don't have any obvious meaning at first but their role in the narrative is to draw parallels between characters.Michael is paralleld to Chondra Alex's mom is paralleled to Alex's dad and then there's Sammy who seemingly makes pretty random statements however they are swapping Sammy and Alex in their roles with Sammy asking Alex to pick up her cat from the dry cleaners, like if it isn't a real cat but a stuffed toy, like a stuffed Panda. She mentions Alex leaving Sammy in the elevator while leaving her alone which is the opposite of what was shown to us in Chapter 1.
And then finally, Spectre Sammy, she appears in both main endings and in both she ends up hugging the Alex model, however while in Ending 1 her monologue more just sets up what's comming but Ending 2 is way more focused on her. So, the thing is, there are 2 Sammys. There is the Semi Pak and there is what i call the Semy Pak(Spectre), Alex himself mentions there being 2 different Sammys multiple times actually, with talking about how Sammy he met and on ONISM video "didn't look exactly the same" or how "his Sammy and Sammy in the newspapers were different", so, why would there be 2 Sammys? This is where "You" come in, "The Player", or actually The Ultimate Alex, the one who wields the sword in Ending 1 and the one who you give your name to at the start of the game, they can exist as their separate concept outside of the player however through you taking role of The Ultimate Alex the concept of it is told, The Ultimate Alex is the impossible goal of Alex to be the Ultimate self in form of a main hero from a video game and his desire to become this goal instead of anything realistic has started to control his life and it created The Dungeon Master who is The Ultimate Alex and the Proto of this concept is deeply hidden in Better Endings but just like Twisted Beings i doubt it's possible to truly defeat them since the fact that we're playing the game still means that The Ultimate Alex exists. Anyway, since "You" the Ultimate Alex is better version of Alex from another reality and he wants to make you as close to himself as possible he gives you a copy of his own friends...and his obsession, another Sammy. Since "You" are just like Alex that means you also parallel to a Sammy, that's why in Ending 2 you work at KNN, "You" are being paralleled to Sammy Pak with all the characters refering not to Alex but to the name you gave to the Ultimate Alex. This is why Alex stands with Spectre Semy and Ultimate Alex stands with Semi.
And now, about how Sammy is paralleled to Rory. First of all i want to talk about the "Do you ever wish you could just disappear?" post, the theme of wanting to escape to "soul space" because of unwell mental health state is very similar to Rory's arc in chapter 2, we can also see bearsnessecity reply to this post which is interesting because bearsnessecity is also the one posting the "Fuck it. I'm done.", which appears at the exact same moment as "The Death of Semi Pak". The only other bearsnessecity appearance is in "GHOST SITING in WIND TOWN - NJ", in which the users S/superbpudding appear and tell Rory that she's a ghost. There's also a water tower with Sammy jumpscare in Windtown and also there's Rory's grave in KNN, right near the Sammy Pak grave.
The Golden Alpaca in KNN's version of Sammy's room quotes Alex's responce to Rory. The date of Sammy disappearing, 4/04, is the date of Rory's birthdy. The gate from Rory's house also allows you to go back to Sammy's room. Now for the last section of this post i want to talk about something even i don't fully understand the implications of. So uh, you know how in Chapter 5 there's a sideguest where an ONISM user makes you place Sammy posters around the state. These posters have a very interesting description:"Last Seen 04/01/1999".You get these posters in the mall and right down from the mall on the overworld map you can see trees that form text saying
4 0 1. April 1th. Personally i see the possible implications of this being that either Sammy really went missing not on April 4th but instead on April 1th and Alex adjusted it for his narrative and to make it fit with Rory's birthday or it comes back again to 2 Sammys, one of wich went missing on April 4th and other on April 1th. Also the obvious implication that it being April 1th could mean that the video was a prank. The posters themselves are interesting too, first of all they are very obviously different from what is described in item's description since they still say 4/04. The e-mail adress is the same one that sent Alex the "link" to onism post, also want to note how she wears different clothing than one on video. I aslo want to say that in post "Elevator Girl" a similar poster is described(tho there is no image attached, despite users acting like there is) and it also seems like the name Semi Pak was found out through this poster(btw the post appears way earlier than when Vella calls Alex and informs him of Sammy's name being found).
Now i want to compare it to different poster, the one that appears in I.V/Nameless Psychosis intro in Claudio's shop.It is very similar to the previous one however there are quite a few important differences, first of all the date on poster being 2016 and nto 1999, the photo is a screenshot of Sammy's 3D model which is the same as in the ONISM video, building behind her looking nothing like any buildings in New Jersey and instead looks like buildings in the intro. However the 2 most important details for this discussion is the lack of name "Semi Pak" on poster and also the height being 5'1 instead of 5'2 as on the mall poster, yet again suggesting multiple Sammys.
I also want to talk about Sammy's age on these posters, on both of the posters and also in ONISM1999 posts it's stated that Sammy is 21, however on her gravestone near Alex's house and as said by Alex himself her age is 23. Which is interesting considering that 23 is Rory's age.
That was pretty muc it, it's still not everything there is to be said about Sammy but i think that's enough for this post. Thanks for reading and all that.

📃 what is the plot of your hyperfixation? and is it a movie, game, show, etc? for batman audio adventures
and/or
💎 are there any fun facts or trivia that you would like to share? for yiik
📃 It's a podcast!! There's a whole bunch of stories happening simultaneously but the main stuff is Batman has become an official consultant to the police (which fucking sucks but it leads to the Bat Signal being installed and Joker leaving a Valentine's gift for him there), Two Face cracking after the second anniversary of getting acid sprayed to the face and also fueding with the Penguin, Catwoman investigating Ace Chemicals with Vicki Vale which opens up a whole conspiracy, Joker with his nefarious plans for Valentine's Day that totally don't involve anything really gay (/j it's really gay) AND Riddler breaks out of Arkham. That's just season one by the way there's a lot going on. Haven't relistened to season two in a while but what I do remember is Scarecrow selling fear toxin as drugs and Harley Quinn trying to establish herself as a criminal
💎 I think I've said most of these to you but here's a random selection. Rory's VA didn't want to be in the game and begged to be replaced but the refused. There's a "secret scrapped" ending uploaded on YouTube that may actually be from one of the devs (I don't know if it's still up there because I came across it in like 2019/2020). The devs said that video gamers are stupid because they couldn't understand the game (never mind that they wrote it like a novel and didn't adapt for the medium; video games rely on visuals and if you show something people are gonna think it happened unless stated it's a dream!) Sammy Pak is inspired by the real life death and last footage of Elisa Lam. Several lines are straight up plagiarized. The last two have been attempted to be resolved by having a disclaimer that all resemblances to real life are coincidental (despite interviews saying they were inspired by Elisa Lam) and a list of media inspirations added in the title screen.

Review Buku - (Bukan) Kisah Sukses Erick Thohir
Selamat Membaca!

“Father is Blessed to.... Soon-hwa Choi”
Long-time Moonie Rocky Noble, who has shown sympathies to both the H1 (Hyun Jin) and H2 (Hyung Jin) camps, thinks she is channeling Moon. She recently posted this on their facebook:
Some have seen the announcement Father asked me to make concerning the fact that neither Mrs. Han nor Mrs. Kang are at His side as completed Eve and the love of His heart bringing joy to God. Finally. God and both Messiahs have Joy. Father is Blessed to Kyung Jin Sammy Moon's Mom now the Mrs. Moon Choi Soon Wha.Annie
Well, on Friday Mr. Sang Ik Choi also known as Papa San and referred to by Father as Bong Choon Choi victorious pioneer missionary to Japan in Father's autobiography As a Peace Loving Global Citizen, ascended.
He was brought to Father. He saw that Mrs. Han was not sitting next to Father. He was very uneasy. I thought he would be OK because maybe he did not see the announcement.
He said he had seen it but had not accepted it.
I could feel within him and his wife the entire life time of accomplishments in jeopardy. He loves Father so much and to have missed joining with Father's heart and message, before arriving before Father in spirit world was not reassuring.
I was given the honor of providing reassuring words to him. He is at peace.
It took about a day to realize he had told me to tell the person I spoke with shortly after and again tonight. It was not Father or my husband, but Sang ik Choi himself.
I am being told that he wants me to tell this story, because he "does not want others to find themselves in spirit world under the same circumstances."
"To understand and embrace this message of joy from Father while you are on earth is much better. It is very important to take heed NOW. Not later. "
I pray for each of you brothers and sisters. God bless you. God wishes the best for each of you
She also wrote:
Sang Sik Choi founding original Unification missionary to Japan is upset with himself upon reaching spirit world last Friday.
He had seen the message that Father is Blessed to Annie Choi. But had rejected that message given to me for the sake of all members to understand it.
He is telling his story from spirit world to encourage others to believe this while still on earth. It will help them when we get to spirit world ourselves and stand before Father.

HI I SUBMITTED ALEX. I will now give you a short but dense list of other things he has lied about in his narration!
1. The most egregious of his fabrications other than him lying to the player about the death of Rory not being his fault, is when he implies that one of his parallel lives is related to Aaron Unkrich, the missing brother of his friends, Claudio and Chondra. Aaron went missing as a child, and it’s explicitly stated that no one ever did anything in finding him directly because he was a Black child in a bad neighbourhood. Alex does this weird implication as a way of self-victimizing, and placing the attention of a missing Black child onto himself. A grown ass white guy who destroyed his reality!! What’s wrong with him!
2. Michael’s whole fucking existence is intentional narration made to make Alex look good. It’s revealed way later in the game that the Michael we have known from the beginning is not the Michael Alex grew up with. The real Michael had a falling out with Alex (that is never properly explained because Alex doesn’t WANT to look bad) when they were younger, and quickly moved up to Canada afterwards. And this whole time, Alex has been meticulously watching over Michael’s website, ONISM! Alex creating a reality in which this random Michael never moved away and they never had a bad falling out is intentional, and it’s shitty!
3. Alex’s relationship with the three women he meets and chases over are utterly insane narration, but for now I’m gonna focus on the first and most obvious one: Sammy Pak, the girl that disappears in the first hour of the game. Alex makes himself out to be the only possible person who is looking out for Sammy, telling the player that he and Sammy had a special connection, despite them literally only knowing each other for a VERY short time before she disappears for the whole game.
He idolizes her and focuses on the idea of being the white knight for her, rather than her as an actual person, even if he DESPERATELY tries to convince the player and the people around him that he actually Does Care about her. He would make INSANE connections that don’t make sense to find an excuse to focus on Sammy again, once again using that non-existent “special connection.” but it’s all to make him look good! It’s not for her own benefit.
SO YEAH. VOTE FOR ALEX.
UNRELIABLE NARRATORS; SIDE B
Alex Eggleston Propaganda:
Alex tells the whole story to you, the player, and COMPLETELY embellishes it in every way. Even when he whines about how he’s not a good person and that he keeps fucking up, he still finds ways to make himself sound like a victim and a good guy! Everything about the story revolves around him. He’s literally the most important person in the universe, albeit for a bad reason (destined to destroy every reality). BUT he tries his best to make himself sound a little better. Like, just ONE example, when you can make a character (Rory) kill himself by being so cruel to him, there’s an ending where Alex lives out a complete fantasy where Rory tells him that his death isn’t Alex’s fault (which is OBJECTIVELY UNTRUE, BECAUSE YOU MAKE THE ACTIVE CHOICE IN BEING CRUEL TO HIM). (He has many others but I just wanted to use the most egregious one as the prime example)
Benjamin Brynn Propaganda:
HE SPENDS THE ENTIRE GAME JUST MAKING UP A LIFE HE NEVER COULD HAVE. this silly guy. this FUCKING GOOFIER. he goes to the afterlife and the person there asks him how his life was like. however (spoiler alert), benjamin died as a kid, of a terminal illness. so instead of saying his real story, he regales a fake tale he wrote while sick, envisioning a life where he lived to be a adult. this story is taken as fact until the gatekeeper calls him out on it and forces him to reveal the real story
#yiik#I have less time with this tournament to root for him so I might have to draft up another propaganda piece later today#BUT STILL. VOTE FOR ALEX

The Trouble with Semi Pak in YIIK: A Postmodern RPG
So a big part of the controversy around YIIK: A Postmodern RPG was their decision to base the character Semi (Sammy) Pak off of the real woman Elisa Lam, who died mysteriously and tragically in 2013. However YIIK is not exactly unique in this regard. Many TV shows, movies and even songs have payed tribute to the strange events surrounding Elisa Lam and taking inspiration from real world events is common in the world of fiction.
So why does its inclusion in YIIK feel so weird and gross?
I think it comes down to framing mostly.
Sammy is presented as something of a love interest for main character Alex, they share barely any time together before she’s gone from the story and is reduced to a goal that he can chase after and obsess over. Which just leaves a bad taste in ones mouth considering that she’s based off of a real woman who died tragically. If Alex’s obsession with finding Sammy was framed more out of moral obligation and the instinctual human drive to make sense of the bizarre circumstances of her disappearance I think it might have sat a lot better with players.
Another problem is that Sammy’s disappearance is distinctly supernatural. There’s no question about it, we see it. The Elisa Lam case is so notorious because its surrounded by strange and mysterious circumstances and questions that have not yet fully been answered. There are many rational explanations that one can give for it but even then nothing seems to fully add up, causing some people to suspect something supernatural. I think that presenting Sammy’s disappearance as purely and unquestionably supernatural does it’s original influence some disrespect. If you’re going to base a part of your story off of the Elisa Lam case you should do your best to capture the ambiguity of the situation if nothing else.
Here’s how I would have done it:
Alex and Sammy finish their conversation
Alex gets off the Elevator and says goodbye to Sammy
Sammy gives Alex a wave and gets back on the elevator
As Alex is walking back down the forest path he realizes that Sammy’s cat, Dahli, has followed him. He tries to shoo her away but she won’t go.
He thinks about going back to return her but then he remembers
The groceries!
If he goes home without them his mom isn’t gonna be happy and it’s getting late, the store will be closed soon.
Alex decides to bring Dahli back tommorrow.
He returns to the factory hotel the next day and searches it up and down but he can’t find Sammy. She’s just gone.
And instead of the images on Onism directly mirroring the camera footage from the Elisa Lam case, I’d have them simply show Sammy getting on the elevator on the ground floor and then the elevator doors opening on the next floor with no Sammy inside.
This hints at something strange going on while also leaving room for plenty of rational explanations. Sammy could have just...left. Skipped town. Alex only had one conversation with her, he doesn’t really know anything about her or what would be normal or abnormal behavior for her.

CW: DEATH MENTION, ELISA LAM DISCUSSION
Hot take of hot takes: I don’t believe YIIK’s allusions to the Elisa Lam case is disrespectful or in bad taste. I know this is very much going against the majority opinion, so I would like anyone who disagrees with me to hear out my reasoning:
I believe that the character of Semi Pak (or Sammy, the version of Semi that Alex creates in his head) is not really similar to Elisa Lam - the similarities begin and end at being Asian women who went missing, and internet conspiracies forming around their disappearances. Semi is a Korean news clerk living in New Jersey who went out for her lunch break and never returned, only to have a mysterious video of her being kidnapped appear online through unknown means. This is extremely different to what happened to Elisa Lam - who was a Chinese woman who died accidentally during a psychotic breakdown while she was on vacation in California. The video of her was put online by the police in the hopes that someone would have a lead on where she went.
As previously stated, the only similarity between the two is that once their “elevator video” was posted online, strangers became obsessed with them - creating conspiracies and their own narratives surrounding their disappearances. Personally, I think that making an allusion to the Elisa Lam case in order to condemn the people who become obsessed with missing women online is a much more respectful way of referencing the case than the way a majority of people online talk about it - including many of the same people who say that YIIK is immoral for referencing it. I don’t understand the logic behind condemning YIIK for making an accurate observation about the way people online treat missing women, and then turn around and use the actual footage of Elisa Lam as a funny reaction meme to mock the game. It just makes no sense to me.
