FAMILIAL RELATIONSHIP: RUNE & CALIX EXOUSÍA

Rune and Calix Exousía were both born on an unnamed desert planet in the Mid Rim, to the same mother, Alessandra Exousía, but eight years apart, and to different fathers. Rune was born when Alessandra was married to an abusive Twi’Lek man, but he left shortly after their birth. When they were seven years old, Alessandra began dating a much kinder and fatherly Togruta man, who she then married and had Calix with. However, Calix’s father died a year after Calix’s birth due to illness.

Alessandra, who was now more like a ghost herself, did not have to raise her children alone. Her parents had made a fortune exploiting workers in the Outer Rim, and she lived with them in their opulent mansion in the middle of the desert, where they were surrounded by their servants, as well as other rich families. Rune and Calix’s grandmother, Ophelia, was a kind but severe woman; their grandfather, Damian, was kind but very absent emotionally. So, while Rune and Calix had family around and basic needs met, they were still neglected emotionally.

This changed for both of them when Calix turned two and it was discovered by Alessandra that he was Force-sensitive*. The family immediately contacted the Jedi, who promptly sent a team to investigate and take Calix back to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant if he was, in fact, Force-sensitive.

Needless to say, he was, and Rune, so upset over the loss of their brother, ran away from home. They were ten years old, and spent the next few years on a neighboring planet, working in a small shop for room and board. Their mother and grandparents never looked for them, and at age 13, they were recruited into the Black Sun crime syndicate by one of its high-ranking crew leaders, Xiomara Siir.

While Calix grew up as a Jedi, Rune spent the next nine years of their life as a member of the Black Sun. Xiomara Siir, though not gentle and certainly not motherly, became a mentor and mother figure for them, teaching them what would become their most treasured skill: how to pilot a ship. Rune also became close with Jupiter Nox, a member of Xiomara’s crew who was only a year older than them. While romance was not encouraged within the crew, the two’s bond certainly surpassed being platonic.

It took eight years for Rune to become sick of the crime syndicate. By the beginning of their ninth year, they were fed up, and looking for a way to search for their brother. However, their debts to the Black Sun barred them from a future outside of it. At age 23, they tried to leave the syndicate. Xiomara attempted to kill them, but they persuaded her into helping them fake their own death.

This is all backstory. Rune is truly introduced into the Pathosverse at age 24, when they meet Shawnee Young in a cantina in the middle of nowhere. The two strike a deal, and Rune assists Shawnee in a job. In return, Shawnee aids them in the search for their brother. They eventually find Calix where he’s living with Sammi Saeki, and he’s shocked. He’d mostly forgotten his sibling, but he’s more than willing to go with them. For a time, Rune’s crew consists of themself, Shawnee, Calix, and Sammi.

Until the chaos, of course.

*Note that Calix is transgender and was known as Calixta and female at this time. Rune, also transgender, was known as Melitta and male at this time.

ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP: SAMMI SAEKI & CALIX EXOUSÍA

Sammi Saeki and Calix Exousía were the first two characters to be created in the Pathosverse in June 2021. Sammi Saeki lived on an urban planet and is a Force-sensitive Nightsister, though she didn’t know it at the time. Calix Exousía was a Jedi Padawan who was sent to Sammi’s home planet on a mission that resulted in his master’s death and his abandonment on the planet. Upon first meeting Sammi in a local café, he sensed the dark side of the Force in her, but they ended up falling in love anyway. The rest is history.

CHARACTER: ERIS ALLAII

Eris Allaii was born in 40 BBY and grew up on Ryloth during one of its most unstable times—the transition from Rylothian civil wars, to coups and turmoil secretly incited by Dooku, to the Clone Wars. They had one older brother, Fie, and one younger sister, Alala. Their mother was a prominent political figure and was killed in an attack on some of Ryloth’s important politicians shortly after Alala’s birth, when Eris was 7 and Fie was 12. The Allaii family then had to leave their home in the Capitol. Eris’s father, Aza, found a home for the family in a cave settlement near the Jixuan Desert. Aza would later become a rival of Cham Syndulla’s during the Clone Wars; the two agreed on their cause, but disagreed on how to fight.

Ryloth was invaded by Separatists at the beginning of the Clone Wars, and Aza insisted Fie fight, despite his son’s deep dislike for conflict. The two got into a fight, with Eris on Fie’s side. Alas, the siblings lost the argument, and Fie was sent off to fight. He was killed shortly after, and Eris never forgave their father for it. They decided to leave Ryloth and pursue their own path in the galaxy that didn’t include warfare, despite that he would be leaving Alala behind. Eris and Aza got into an intense argument once Aza discovered his plans, and he left on a Republic transport offplanet immediately after. They became an extremely skilled mechanic, bought a ship and a droid, and made their way through the galaxy alone. Eris is not a very verbal or social person, and thus this was freedom for them.

He continued this for about three years, until he was recruited by Rune Exousía (along with Shawnee Young, Calix Exousía, and Sammi Saeki) into Rune’s crew. This is where Eris is officially introduced into the Pathosverse. Rune and their crew would be traveling around the galaxy, completing missions and bounty hunting jobs for money. Rune’s crew also recruited Tilly Valentine and her boyfriend, Charles, who did not elect to tell the crew just how much experience they had killing people.

As could be suspected, the first mission went horribly awry—the person the crew was rescuing was actually Rune’s former mentor, Xiomara Siir, who they had not parted on good terms with. They crash-landed on a planet after the rescue, severely injuring Rune and Xiomara. This also coincided with the date of the Jedi Purge and creation of the Galactic Empire. Intense, even for Eris, who had no emotional attachment to any of it. If there’s one undoubtable, unchangeable thing about Eris Allai, it’s this: no one knows why they do things, but still, they can survive anything.

As this character description has devolved into plot, it shall end here, and more plot shall be included in the next few character descriptions. Stay tuned.
