Dean tries to get back at Sam for his “I was an unwilling witness to 12 years of pining between my brother and best friend and here are their most ridiculous moments” PowerPoint by pulling up Sam’s most embarrassing photos in Microsoft Paint ‘98 (he doesn’t know how to use PowerPoint) but it backfires on him. Sam is initially embarrassed but hearing Eileen laugh her ass off has him breaking into fits of laughter too and he ends up not caring, too enamored by his wife. Dean is grumbling when he sits down and Cas just sympathetically rubs his back and tells him it was a good plan while hiding his own laughter.

March 17, 2021 - Supernatural continues to trend after yesterday's events, but now the Saileen wedding is taking over and keeping the tag up.

In the morning, Supernatural trended because of the chaos caused by Misha's cameos and the Twitter’s descriptions (here). A short recap of the events can be found in my previous post and here. The cameos are described here in detail.

But let's forget about the celebrities. The main reason for today's trending is the fact that a large part of the fandom is celebrating Sam Winchester and Eileen Leahy's wedding. Congrats to the newlyweds!

First things first, the fandom has been sharing links and donating to organizations supporting Deaf and hard of hearing people in honor of Eileen, who’s Deaf and one of the most badass hunters in the show. One list can be found here, but there are other lists circulating as well.

No one's sure when and how they got engaged, but it was most likely in the middle of a fight with monsters/ghosts/demons during a hunt. The bachelorette party was a blast and wild, the bachelor party ended up with at least one person injured or under some nasty spell (Sam and Cas should never be left unsupervised).

And now the wedding. It takes place on St Patrick’s Day, as the bride is Irish. She looks like the girlboss she is, absolutely rocking her wedding suit/dress (with pockets). Sam does NOT wear white (when Lucifer was possessing him in 5x04, he was wearing a white suit, so Dean, without getting into details, asked his brother to wear a different color). There’s a lot of green and purple. Sam’s vows are in ASL, he starts with ‘so get this,’ and he might or might not have ended them with 'fuck you', as this had been the first thing he’d signed to Eileen during their first meeting instead of 'thank you' (she tried to stab him though, so it’s all good; plus she’s super chill). He also takes Eileen's last name - Leahy. Eileen dips Sam during the ‘you can kiss the groom’ moment.

The party is great and at one point a shapeshifter crashes it. It's a mistake, but before everyone realizes it happened, a lot of shenanigans ensue. You can find some memes here and here (so far without IDs). Jack is the flower girl and he loves weddings, so much so that the next ones are being planned. Rowena is the best dressed guest again and she mercilessly flirts with both the bride and the groom. The first dance is possibly a Celine Dion song (bass-heavy) and they dance barefoot. Mildred Baker is present and everyone absolutely loves her. The party’s not over yet, so a lot more can happen.

1k words, dean’s 15x20 death speech reworked into a wholesome moment where dean is helping sam prepare for the ceremony. wincesties i will torch you. 

Dean watches as Sam adjusts his tux with a deep and nervous breath. Dean shakes his head with understanding. Just over one month ago he was in the exact same state. He knows there's nothing he can say to abate the nerves, but he most certainly still has something to say.

"Take a deep breath, Sammy," he says, walking over to give Sam a clap on the back and swing him around to look in his brother's eyes. "Remember - I don't know how - but you knew it was always gonna end like this for us. It's supposed to end like this, right?" he seeks Sam's eyes and waits for a terse but honest nod. There's an adjacent conversation happening that they both barely dared to dream could happen.

"I mean, look at us," Dean removes his hand from Sam's shoulder to fiddle with his wedding ring, "Saving people, hunting things... that's all we used to do, used to be... We had one hell of a ride, man," they share a short laugh. "No going back, okay? You know... you know that would end bad." We're out of the life for good. And that's... that's good. It was meant to be this way. Or it wasn't! The universe sure seemed to think otherwise. But this is our story now.

"Trust me Dean, I have no intention to." Well, that still stings a bit. 

"Yeah, yeah, I know... I guess I'm also telling myself. This is all new for me, too, ya know." I am still learning to be happy.

"Yeah, Dean... I do." It's Sam's turn to hold Dean's shoulder, though his eyes are elsewhere. With a sniffle, his gaze turns downwards.

"Okay, my tough guy voice is fading pretty quick, so... there's a few things that I need you to hear. Come here. Let me look at you," he ducks to catch Sam's eyes. If he's gonna do this, Sam better see it. Sam looks up with a smile. "Yeah, there he is. I'm so proud of you, Sam. You know that? I've always looked up to you," yep, yep, his resolve is dropping, but he doesn't care, "Man, when we were kids, you were so damn smar..." Dean sniffles, "Smart. You never..." a hiccup, "You never took any of dad's crap. I never knew how you did that. And you're stronger than me. You always have been." I learn from you every day. I learn from the lessons you tried to teach me years ago. 

Sam just nods, tears well formed, encouraging Dean to keep going.

"Did I ever tell you... Did I ever tell you that night that, uh... that I ca..." fuck it, I'm commiting to this, tears and all, "That I came for you when you were at school? You know, when dad hadn't come back from his hunting trip? I must have stood outside your dorm for hours... because I didn't... I didn't know what... What you would say. I thought you'd tell me to... to get lost or get dead." His laugh is empty and he breaks eye contact. It's Sam's turn to chase Dean's eyes. He looks at his brother with a hint of disbelief - not just how ridiculous Dean's assumptions were, but that they're having this conversation at all. Man, being in love has really softened Dean up. Man, being in love has really softened me up.

"And I don't know what I would've done... if I didn't have you. 'Cause I was so scared. I was scared, 'cause when it all came down to it, it was always you and me." The road ahead looks so uncertain without you by my side. "It's always been you... and me." All the same, Dean fiddles with his ring, an act of self-soothing for the life Dean knows they are both growing out of and adoring gratitude for the lives they are growing into. Bittersweet, like all good things are.

"Dean, I'm nervous... all this is so new, so unbelievable. It feels like I'm in a Djinn dream just... waiting." Dean understands - he's shared the sentiment. And the experience.

"Give me some credit. If this were a Djinn dream, I'd've gotten you out by now, time warping be damned." They share another weepy laugh. It's gonna be hard not living to protect you. "Things are gonna be different, man. I dunno how often we're gonna see each other, but..." and that's exactly it, isn't it? They're moving on - onwards and upwards.

Dean looks up with renewed confidence and snatches Sam's tastefully emerald tie. "I'm not leaving you. I'm gonna be with you... Right here... every day. Every day you're out there and you're Li... And you're living and you're loving, 'cause you... You always keep loving. You hear me?" I have no doubts you will, Sammy.

"Dean..."

Looping the tie with practiced fingers, saturated with the neglected hope now renewed that this moment is possible. "I'll be there every step." Even though... well... I won't. Not really. "I love you so much." Dean tightens the knot and looks up with a sigh. His tears are warm with pride. "My baby brother."

That's when Sam's resolve officially breaks. Dean pulls him into a hug.

"Oh, man... I did not think this would be a day. But it is. It is, and that's... Man... that's crazy. I need you to... I need you to promise me," Dean gently pushes Sam away to look back in his eyes. "I need you to... To... to tell me... that it's okay. I need you to tell me that it's okay."

That we've reached a denouement. A destination. That we're still figuring out who the fuck we are outside of the life. That we aren't responsible for saving the world anymore. That we're not the same people we were years ago.

That Cas and I are deeply in love. That you and Eileen are perfect for each other. That we're all so damn happy. That you and I are gonna be apart more often than we're gonna be together. That we're always gonna be brothers. That it's no longer just us. That what we have found is better.

"Dean… it's okay," Sam's voice is surprisingly strong, "We can let go now."

Toasts at Sam and Eileen’s wedding:

Rowena: I hope you’ve got enough sleep these last thirty-seven years, cause you won’t be getting anymore for a while.

Becky: Well Eileen was just like everybody else, totally mesmerized by Sam. Or “The Hair” as I call him. Then, suddenly, Sam is all about Eileen. Even though she’s not SamLicker81. I’m just kidding. Or the president of the Sam Winchester fan club.

Jody: Sam will be a good husband. I know this because…because I’m a cop, I know things. Like how to hunt somebody to the ends of the earth. And I know how to use a gun.

Dean: (through tears) Hey Jude, don't make it bad. Take a sad song and make it better. Remember to let her into your heart, Then you can start to make it better.

Sam: It’s an extraordinary thing to meet someone who you can bare your soul to and accept you for what you are. I’ve been waiting, for what seems like a very long time, to get beyond what I am. With Eileen I feel like I can finally begin. So I’d like to propose a toast to my beautiful bride. No measure of time with you will be long enough. But let’s start with forever.

in my mind the Saileen wedding happens bc there is some sort of monster terrorizing weddings so Hunting Partners™ Sam and Eileen are obvs on the case. they decide to get married and have a wedding to draw the monster out so they invite their close friends and family to the ceremony but clue them in that it is also a hunt so everyone has a good time AND they are able to catch the monster. king and queen of multitasking.

W*incesties trying to validate their opinion of the finale with Jackles own opinion is disgusting. He liked the finale because he put his hard work into it whether we as fandom agree or not on liking the finale in general. 15 years of hard work. But having people using it to validate their inc*stuous ship (BETWEEN TWO BROTHERS) is frankly disturbing and mind boggling. And they say we're crazy at least we don't ship literal brothers 😖

yes cas has only been married for a month. yes eileen has only been married for 6 hours. but consider this: cas and eileen at the reception drinking margaritas and discussing the epic highs and lows to being married to a Winchester (or former Winchester in Sam’s case).

Sam and Eileen. Obviously. After 15x19 Sam and Dean went and found all of their friends and recruited them to help save Cas from the Empty, afterwards there was a Saileen / Destiel joint wedding. Fight me.

I’m gonna go with post Hell. Crazy!Sam, Soulless!Sam, and Sam who lead all the apocalypse world hunters (do we have a word for that?) was all post Hell. Although Bloodfreak was fun. But pre-Hell also has season 1 Sam, and I DO NOT like season 1 Sam.

10)   Your favourite season and why.

That is really hard and the answer changes a lot. I’m a fickle bitch. But (for now) I’m gonna say 10. It’s got Demon!Dean which is hot. It’s got Dean and Claire! Rowena and Crowley, Donna, Jody, Charlie. And in the first episode we’ve got Cas, in bed, half naked, saying that he misses Dean. Come on!
