Wife reader x Bucky Barnes
Summary: your husband and a bunch of strangers show up at your house in the middle of the night.
Warnings: John walker, swearing
A/n: The car they have is a mini van instead of the van they had in the movie, so with actual seats and that stuff - so minor change, that's all.
Tumblr media
^the car seating plan
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Where are we going?" Ava asks, being the third person in the last ten minutes to ask Bucky this. "We'll be there shortly" He grounds out, the same response he's given the last two times.
John is about to say something but is quickly stopped by the glare wielded his way from Yelena. From the past three days of knowing him, she's gotten used to knowing that whenever he opens his mouth, something stupid comes out. Every. Time. And every time, it looks like Bucky is that much closer to pummeling him.
Another fifteen minutes later and Bucky pulls the van into a dirt road leading away from any civilization. Ava and Yelena look out the rear window as the main road is getting further and further away.
The two women glance at each other in concern of where they're heading and how Bucky isn't telling them anything about it. "This seems more like a kidnapping than staying under the radar" Ava finally says when Bucky continues driving deeper into the forest.
"I'm sure the winter soldier knows where we're going and what he's doing. We're fine." Alexei says with a hefty laugh as he's watching from the window beside him.
Bucky meanwhile lets out an aggravated sigh to himself, but he doesn't say anything since in just mere minutes, they'll arrive at the location. The location of which feels like he hasn't been to in way too long for his liking.
And that location is a cabin. A cabin that Tony had set up for his wife during the blip so she wouldn't have to put on any kind of act by being around others all the time. That woman just so happened yo be you, Y/n Barnes.
You're an ex. shield agent that helped Steve with finding Bucky after the events of Pierce and Hydra still being active, as well as the whole project insight fail. Bucky and you caught feelings for each other after some time of finding him again and through the events of the team splitting up and fighting against Thanos, both times. After the second time and all the tragedy, you guys decided to get married. Not that it didn't come with hardships, like the whole therapy thing and having to forgive himself and make amends, and the flagsmashers. But all in all, you love each other.
Which is how you find your eyebrows furrowing as you hear a rusty sound of a car driving along the path towards the cabin. That wasn't normal. Your husband always comes home on his bike, only a car a few times, but those times he alerted you. This time though, you got no communication from him that says not to worry.
So, you immediately turn the light off in the living room and grab your gun from the holster on your thigh. Yes, you may be alone out here, but it doesn't mean danger can't find you. Plus, this is what you were trained for.
You silently move through the pitch black house, the only light coming from the headlights of the car illuminating the halls from through the windows. Sticking to the shadows, you make your way outside through a hidden door at the side of the house.
The gun with your finger on the trigger is held firmly down to your right side as you trek silently to the corner to get a glimpse at who's in the car.
"What is this place?" Yelena asks when Bucky turns off the ignition and pulls the keys out. Instead of answering, Bucky just gets out of the car and puts his hands up after closing the door.
"I know you're there. It's me." He calls out to, appearance wise, no one. This makes everyone still in the van look at each other with confused gazes before unbuckling their seatbelts and getting out of the mini van as well. Except for Yelena right away, she stays to wake Bob up. He had nodded off an hour ago in the drive, his head rested against the small window to his left.
You come out of your hiding spot behind the corner of the house with your gun held in front of you, your legs spread in a fighting stance. That is until it's confirmed that it's in fact your husband and no trick.
Paying no mind to the other people coming out of the car, you holster your gun and go over to him. Bucky quickly wraps his arms around you and holds you close to him. He rests his head on your shoulder as he breathes in the light scent of your shampoo that's still lingering from the shower you took this morning.
As Yelena and Bob emerge from the beat up mini van, you and bucky pull apart from one another to face the group of them who are now acting as though they weren't just watching what happened.
You scan over everyone and the last person, your face twists in something someone can only call as disgust. John Walker. "Hey, Y/n, long time no see?" The man at least has the decency to be weary and nervous, scratching the back of his neck. "Could be longer" You say sharply before taking your eyes off him, and just stare at the group as a whole instead.
"Wait, who is this?" Yelena is the one to speak up. "This is Y/n. My wife." Bucky smiles softly, the most genuine look on his face they've seen on him as he looks at you.
"You have a wife?" Several versions of this questions rise from the group, but get off from a glare he sends their way.
"Hey. Nice to meet you guys, I guess" You look back up at your husband before to them again. "Who are you exactly and why do you look like you just went ten rounds with a tornado?" You ask with a raised eyebrow as you take in how disheveled they all look.
"It's best we explain inside." Bucky says. You let out a puff of air before nodding after a moment and taking a key out of your boot. You head to the front door and unlock it, your husband by your side as the rest of them follow inside.
You turn the lights on as Bucky closes and locks the door and enacts the security system that runs through the house and property. "This way" You say and lead them to the living room. As they take a seat, all basically bursting with confusion still, you go over to your husband.
"Why the hell didn't you tell me you were coming, Buck!?" You exclaim in a hushed whisper. "I didn't have any way of communicating you. And I was a little pre-occupied" He glances at the people in the next room over. "I was worried about you" you finally say. "I didn't know what was happening. All I knew was how you bailed on your congressman meetings and had apparently gone rogue."
"I know, and I'm so sorry, darling. But I promise, I'm alright, and we'll tell you everything that happened" Bucky says and presses a kiss to your lips. You melt into it for a second before remembering about the occupants in the next room over.
"Come on, mind as well get this over with." He says quietly into your ear and wraps your hand in his. He leads you to the living room and to in front of the fireplace to face everyone.
"Alright, this is Alexei, Ava, Yelena, and Bob." Bucky introduces them to you. "And him as well," he quickly nods over to John, not wanting to draw too much of your attention to the man that you loath. And boy, does Bucky understand, but nows not the time.
Yelena does a little awkward wave. "Alright. Would someone like to inform me what the hell exactly happened?" You cross your arms and lean against the fireplace mantle.
They all glance at each other before Yelena sighs and sits up straighter, starting to summarize everything that happened to them up to when Bucky met them and blew up Alexie's limo. At that you look at your husband with a raised brow before Yelena continues, the others popping in at times as well.
Once everyone was finished explaining the events leading up to them arriving here, you pinch the bridge of your nose and quietly groan. "Valentina? As in the same woman from three years ago, is behind this whole thing?"
You get multiple nods and 'yeah's from the group. "Wonderful. Well, next time you plan to see her, bring me with. I have a thing or two to say...or do" the ex spy in you is coming out.
"Does he usually fall asleep like that" you're attention is drawn to Bob who is asleep with his head resting on the back couch cushioning. "Uh, he's been through a lot." Ava says.
"Okay, yeah," you sigh, "Well, down the hall are some bedrooms. You guys look like you need to clean up and some sleep yourselves." You point down the hall to your right.
"Thank you" Yelena nods, the rest of them saying thanks as well before standing and going down the hall. Though John goes over to lift Bob. "Don't bother, he can stay in the couch, he seems peaceful" you tell him, trying to fight off the growl even though technically the man was doing something sweet (ish).
He relents and nods, not wanting to get into a fight with you at this time, knowing he won't win. You go over to the younger man and have him lay down more comfortably on the couch with a pillow, as well as draping one of the throw blankets over him.
"Though if you break anything, I will personally come after you" you call down the hallway before going upstairs to your bedroom with Bucky.
"You're very authoritative. It's good, they actually listened to you" he says once you guys get to your shared room.
"That's cause I'm such an amazing person" you smirk. But a moment later, you smack your husband upside the head. "What was that for?" He asks, surprised at the action, not like it hurt that much anyways.
"For worrying me. And for the stupid shit you did" you say before kissing him softly.
When it comes to neglected readers/ocs fics, it's always about the batfam, or even the superfamily. but recently i've been thinking of another idea
Because if those families can have neglected readers, where does it say the rest of the superheroes can't be the same? Specially as yanderes?
i love the aus where the JL has kids around the same age and they know each other or even form a group together similar to their parents and stuff (i blame @fancyfeathers and their amazing yandere au ideas for this. Go check their blog, their latest work Burn it Down it's awesome and the biggest inspiration for this), so hear me out: An au with JL's kids where it consists on neglected readers/ocs. Except, unlike their heroic fathers, most of these kids have been raised by morally questionable people and followed that path to fill the void of the neglect.
Imagine Oliver Queen's son, who similar to Bruce's, was born out of a relationship between Oliver and a woman he spent some nights with. She was a mercenary going undercover, who happened to meet Mr Queen and agreed to go on some dates with him to keep up the facade, but unfortunately, the rich asshole happens to be very charming when he wants to be...just like that cursed black canary of his. She gave in, against her best instincts, and by the time she realised what she got herself into, she was staring at a positive test in an hotel's bathroom. She chose to keep him at first, raising him alone and away from Oliver and Dinah, believing the man was unfit to be a proper father (and fearful the pregnancy would shackle her to them). She trained the boy and taught him everything she knew, but also kept him separated from her job...until she couldn't. Things got too dangerous and one day, she was killed. Her body was never found. He was going to move in with some of her mum's friends , but then he received an unexpected visit: Mr Oliver Queen. Apparently, the mum reached out to the man a while ago to let him know of his son's existence, and since his potential foster family were essentially criminals like her mum, it was decided he was to live with his father instead. The boy is taken to the Queen's household, but as all stories go, his dad never has time for him and his stepmother is, well, she's not rude but she's busy as well and it's messy. He has his little brother, Connor, and he's expected to be his caretaker when their parents are out, and as much as he loves his brother, he low-key resents this role imposed on him. His main comfort is sneaking out to visit his other family, who are basically a bunch of other mercenaries that act like his uncles, aunties and cousins, who keep encouraging him to follow his mother's footsteps. And there's the thing that, well, Oliver's son doesn't really believe his mum died. He suspects she faked it to hide from enemies and protect him, and he's determined to find her. After all, she's the only parent he feels that has ever loved him.
He and Bruce's daughter know each other since childhood, due to being both introduced to high society around the same time and having the same age. They're not best friends, but they share a mutual understanding and keep in contact from their respective cities. They're usually glued to the hip in events where both families are invited because they're the only people who they don't have to pretend or put on a mask with. They also talk shit about their fathers together over glasses of wine and complain about their family.
Imagine Hal Jordan's daughter, whom he conceived with an enemy of his, non other than a Yellow Lantern. Obviously, this affair was doomed from the start and, one day, she vanished. Leaving no trace of her, as if the galaxy had somehow swallowed her. Not even Hal couldn't find her, leading him to believe she was really dead. In truth, the woman gave up on her yellow lantern duties for the pregnancy and tried to lead a normal life. Out of spite and paranoia, the woman refused to tell Hal about their child, raising her as a single mother and doing everything in her power to hide her parentage from her. Also, because she earned quite some enemies during her time as a yellow lantern, and wanted her daughter to remain unknown so she wasn't targeted. However, the woman missed the power, the freedom to fly around the vast space and the adrenaline of instilling fear in others, so eventually, when Sinestro contacts her, she agrees to take the yellow ring again, but with that choice, it comes a raging fear (ironic, isn't it?): Her daughter won't be safe if she stays with her. And bringing her along isn't an option either, Sinestro made it clear. That lifestyle isn't suited for kids. So she makes a hard decision: Leave her at her father's doorstep to stay with him while she's out with the Sinestro corps, along with a letter revealing that she's his child but not who the mum is. Given his record, he assumes it was one of his one-night stands and doesn't suspect the truth at all...not initially. He tries to be a good dad, he really does. He's a good uncle, so he can definitely be a good parent, right? But being an uncle isn't the same as being a parent, obviously, and with his constant responsabilities as both Green lantern and pilot he's constantly out of the house, leaving her with his brother's family. He's awkward about it, he doesn't know what he's supposed to do with a surprise child, how he's supposed to act or feel. He's lost, and shamefully, sometimes relieved to leave her with his brother so he doesn't have to handle that task. Meanwhile, the girl is still in contact with her mum and they meet when the woman swings by to Earth, having some nice mother-daughter bonding until she has to leave again. The topic of Hal is still taboo, so they act like he doesn't exist. She loves her mum, truly, but can't fight the crippling loneliness when she realises both her parents chose their duties over her again and again. She won't admit it, ever, but deep down, she also craves for her dad's affection. She knows her mum wouldn't approve, but don't all kids need their father's love at some point? She sees him with her cousin Helen and wants the same wants it so badly she could cry, but he doesn't look at her the same way and sometimes it feels there's something wrong with her. As she grows, she learns to fight the insecurities with adrenaline, throwing herself into dangerous situations, like illegal car races, and overall breaking the law for the fun of it. She's scared every time, but after all, like her mum always taught her, fear is power. And having others fear you too? It's even sweeter.
She and Bruce's daughter have an intense love-hate relationship, leaning towards hatred but also reluctant respect. They have, unknowingly, inherited their fathers' beef and throw shit at each other by instinct. I see them having met as kids too, and that's where the beef started. It never stopped. But they just can't connect with anyone else the way they do. They speak in insults and mocks, or are silently judging people together. There's no in-between.
Imagine Barry Allen's daughter, who came to exist after a one-night with a fellow forensic scientist before he ended up with Iris. They cut off contact after she went to work in another lab, but just a month later she finds out she's pregnant. She debated whether to tell Barry or not, but since she didn't have the resources to raise her alone, she ultimately told him and, after some very awkward and tense talk, he agreed to be part of her life and help them, sharing custody and all. She has criminal ties (maybe Captain Cold is her uncle or sum), so Barry's daughter grows up with slight anti-Flash propaganda in her mum's house, which feels weird to her because everyone she knows loves Flash. At first, Barry is a decent dad and does his best to be there for her even when his job keeps him away a lot. He makes time for her, they do stuff together and they have fun. He even argues sometimes with his mum to keep her work him longer than they agreed to. But all changes when he marries Iris. Now, the woman is never anything but polite with her, but it's made abundantly clear from the start that she already has a mum and Iris has no intention of taking that role anyway. Suddenly Barry is cutting his time off with the girl to go on dates with Iris, which, okay, it might be understandable, he has the right to fall in love and all and she already has her mum to be with. But she misses her dad too. But she doesn't want to come off as an entitled brat. But she's just a little girl yet who feels like she's losing her dad even though he's still there. And then, Iris gets pregnant. Barry is over the moon and kinda forgets he already has a child. Everything becomes about the incoming babies. All the conversation revolves around them. Getting her dad alone becomes impossible, and he doesn't make time for her anymore. Doesn't argue with mum to keep her with him longer. She's not a priority anymore. And godamn it hurts. Hurts like a bitch. Hurts more than anything she's ever felt. Not even her mum can console her. With time, it feels obvious to her Barry is not going to be invested in her life anymore. Not when he just started a family with a woman he truly loves and with kids he actually planned for. But fear not, because if her dad isn't interested in her, she has her mum and her side of the family, who love her as well. And she learns a lot about chemistry from her mum, enough to help her with the family's secret and not-so-legal work. But when she's running to get the morning bus for school and in a blurry second finds herself in another state, her body vibrating with something unknown, that's when the real problems start...
I see her being best friends with Hal's daughter, simply because it's written in the stars that for every speedster there's a Lantern with them and they have to be besties, so the girls are too. Every Flash comes with a Lantern as a pack. She's also good friends with Oliver's son..but maybe she wants to be more.
Imagine Zatara's son, younger than Zatanna, born from his second wife. When Zatanna was a teenager, he found love again and remarried with a woman who knew all of his bussiness with the Justice League and had a child, whom from an early age he initiated in the art of magic. However, there's something different about the boy. Something that sets him apart entirely from his father and sister. He doesn't have their proefficiency towards magic. He seems to get hurt by it, and also gets sick easily, which makes him unfit to become a wizard. Instead, he's seemingly made for a completely normal life with the bonus of having to stay in bed more often than he'd like due to his poor health. This pushes Zatara to focus a bit more on Zatanna, who still doesn't fully control her own magic, and leave his son to be mostly in his civilian mum's hands. The boy grows up feeling lonely and frustrated with his own body for being wrong, because he can feel something wrong just doesn't know what it is. It pulses inside him when he's near certain parts of the house and almost hurts when his dad or his sister cast spells near him. There's also the fact that when his emotions run high, sometimes windows are shattered and furniture slashed around him. He gets told its because of the remnants of magic his family leaves behind and respond to emotions, that it has nothing to do with him personally. But for some reason, it's usually after those incidents when he falls sick and isn't allowed to get out of bed. It's only years later, with secret research on his own and reaching out to certain people, that he finds out the truth. About why he can't fit with his dad and sister, why he can't do magic the way they do and why he's in pain a lot at convenient times: He's a wizard of chaos, like Klarion. And someone put a block on his powers "to protect him". Now, he's just determined to prove not all wizards of chaos are inherently bad (and maybe prove to himself that he can be as good as his family if not better)
Clark Kent's daughter, older than Jon, who was apparently born as a complete human like her mum and showed no signs of kriptonian powers, like her brother. Because of this, much like Zatara did, her dad focused on training Jon and teaching him everything while his daughter watched from the sidelines, feeling displaced and lonely because of it. Add to that that because of her seemingly human nature, Clark sees her as fragile and takes a sometimes overprotective stance that only suffocates her further. She's the oldest, the one expected to take care of the family and the house, yet she has to hear him tell Jon is his duty to protect her and make sure they're all alright. Just because she doesn't have heat vision doesn't mean she's helpless! She's not good enough to hang out with them or defend herself, but she is to stay put at home like a little housewife? Like her mum is stuck to? She refuses. And she loves her family, she really does despite all, but the bitterness is sore. She craves to get out of Kansas, this small farm with the same damn routine every day, and go see the world. Experience new things, have fun, feel like a girl her age for once. She thinks that's the most she can aspire to...until one day, after an argument with her dad, she storms out of the house and punches a tree out of sheer frustration....only to watch in shock how the tree is ripped away from its root and lays torn apart in the ground, with a big ass dent where her fist slammed against to...opsies.
In the ultimate act of rebellion, she would apply for a Lexcorp's internship as a school project, believing it won't work anyway because in paper, she's just a journalist's daughter living in a farm. But for some reason, she gets the internship, and Luthor seems personally invested in her career choice..
I know it's cliche as hell but i really just want to add a group of JL's neglected children that band together out of spite to fight their daddy issues by being absolute menaces to society with very questionable morals (and the ocassional "accidental" murder ofc)
Sometimes, I don't know what is worse, a yandere who's so delusional or a yandere who's so self-aware yet engages in obsessive and possessive behaviour nonetheless. Walk with me.
Like the delusional ones are terrifying because they genuinely believe they're doing the right thing. They'll lock you in a room and be like "this is for your own good my love" while you're screaming and they're serving you breakfast in bed with a smile.
They are so deep into the rabbit hole they've convinced themselves the hole doesn't exist. They're the ones who'll leave seventeen voicemails saying "I just want to make sure you're okay" while standing outside your window with a crowbar. They've rewritten reality in their minds like a twisted Choose Your Own Adventure book where every path leads to "happily ever after... or else."
BUT THE SELF-AWARE ONES
They'll deadass be like "I understand that my behavior is possessive, controlling, and violates multiple boundaries" then proceed to install 23 tracking apps on your phone. They know it's wrong. They can recite chapter and verse why their behavior would earn them a restraining order in any sane jurisdiction. But that knowledge doesn't stop them—it amplifies them.
They're out here doing full psychological analysis of their own behavior pattern while simultaneously deepening the pattern. They'll be in therapy describing their yandere tendencies in clinical detail to their therapist, nodding along to the coping mechanisms, and then walking straight out and buying 15 more security cameras for your house.
They're literally like "I know I'm toxic and you deserve better... anyway here's the 200-page dissertation I wrote about why we're soulmates based on the fact that we both like the same flavor of ice cream"
They can ratio you in an argument so hard because they'll use actual psychology textbooks to explain why their obsessive behavior is actually a totally rational response to their deep-seated attachment issues.
Like bro you can cite Jung and Freud all you want but you're still wearing my hoodie that you stole 3 months ago and sniffing it while updating your spreadsheet of my daily routines
The delusional yandere is in a horror movie. The self-aware yandere is in a psychological thriller where THEY'RE the unreliable narrator, the author, AND the reader all at once.
God help you if you try to ghost these bastards. The delusional one will keep calling until the phone lines fray from overuse. The self-aware one? They'll explain, in terms so clinical they could be published in the New England Journal of Stalking, exactly why your attempt to establish boundaries is actually detrimental to what they've determined is your "necessary codependency dynamic."
They're out here weaponizing therapy speak:
• "I need to process my abandonment trauma through this tracking device"
• "My love language is gift giving" buys your entire apartment complex
• "I'm just looking out for your mental health" hacks your DMs to delete messages from potential romantic interests
The self-aware yandere invented gaslighting yourself because they'll literally be like "I am fully cognizant of the fact that I'm gaslighting you right now", even providing footnotes explaining the exact gaslighting techniques they're employing while you be standing there like 🧍‍♀️ what do I even do with this information.
I think what fascinates me the most about self-aware type of yandere is that they exists in a state of perpetual dramatic irony. It's like they are trapped in a play where the audience (themselves) knows exactly what the character (also themselves) is doing, yet the show must go on! Scene by recursive scene.
TL;DR: Delusional yanderes are playing a game where they don't know the rules. Self-aware yanderes are speedrunning social relationships while reading the instruction manual and deliberately ignoring it.
Pick your poison I guess?
Slight Da Capo spoilers
Items are really important in Malevolent, but I want to talk about Kayne's dagger and Manny's lighter that they give to Arthur.
If we think about it, the two items represent the main points of Malevolent:
The dagger represents the idea that "life is loss," things in life do not last, and we must accept that. It is used to showcase that on multiple accounts: when they kill Lily, when Arthur cuts his neck, when he kills Uncle, cuts off the Witch's hand, carves up Antoine, etc. It is used to inflict violence for better or worse. That is life, that is how you stay alive, and you can't shy away from it.
The lighter, on the other hand, represents the idea that people have the means to provide their own light, that this horrible thing they are experiencing "too shall pass." No matter how insufferable the loss is, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, a way to get up from the bedrock. The lighter is used to cautarize wounds, make the characters warm, and show a way out of the unending darkness. The scars will stay, but the pain will pass because you have found a way out of it yourself despite all odds.
Both Kayne and Manager try to distance themselves from the concepts that conflict with their items, but they still carry them within themselves. Kayne is so flippant about destroying people's lives across the multiverse because it doesn't really matter to him since he will either rewrite everything to be better or reality simply ends. It is an acceptable loss to him. However, his motivation for such violence is to create a perfect world without death or loss, and he is willing to be the first one, the guiding light, who steps towards that future. He is creating his own light and taking everyone with him at the same time. Manny opposes that. He does not want to wager the fate of billions of worlds since he himself is scared of death. He protects what few people he finds interesting in the Waylay and seems to be somewhat sad at the idea that not everyone can be saved in the Dark World. He creates a path of light that can save everyone from the fate of eternal nothingness or a fleshy nightmarish utopia. He provides the means for the protagonists to keep going even in death. However, to plot against Kayne, he had to doom innumerable universes and countless Johns and Arthurs to Kayne's curiosity, to lure him in with an interesting shiny toy so that they have a chance to stop him. A bit of pain and death is fine since they're a part of normal life, right? Plus, such things will pass anyway.
In conclusion, they are two sides of the same coin and are horrible in their own ways, which makes them so entertaining. Now that John and Arthur don't have the dagger anymore, maybe they will finally reach the point when the light will outweigh the darkness and they will be able to let go of the feeling of guilt and loss.
Here's to a small theory I have of the Beast Cookies before Eternal Sugar's update, just in case it ruins it
Tldr: the beast cookies have never felt like real cookies and the ancients didn't fall bc they had a childhood lmao
Tumblr media
My main theory on the beast cookies is that they're fundamentally different from every other cookie.
Like- they were made specifically to be holders of the souljams, they were born full grown up gods. You could say maybe they had the witches to look up to but that's still a stretch, the only one who has any actual hints at a relationship with the witches is Shadow Milk.
It's also probable that the composition of their very dough is different from others, to handle the strength required for the power of the soul jams, or just in general so yhey wouldn't crumble as easily even without them. Because otherwise why would the witches need to lock them up? Well, that's either because they wanted to spare them, because they actually loved their first creations and couldn't bring themselges to kill them. Or because their bodies can't be crumbled as easily as other cookies.
I mean, you see Shadow Milk detach his head on a whim, and that's on a body that Dark Enchantress made for him it's not even the original one. Assuming all of them can do stuff like that and it's not only illusory magic, then no wonder they had to be sealed.
Anyway, the main point here is that the beasts were made fundamentally different from other cookies. And not only that, their status as seconds to literal gods made it so other cookies were probably not treating them like...cookies
Think about it right the only depictions we get of how other beings treated the beast cookies was with outmost reverence, and if it wasn't that then it was with hatred because of greed or other things. They were never treated as actual people with feelings, and I think that's the beginning of their downfall.
I think this disconnect with what should've been their own kind is what started it all, because if others would've treated them with actual equal respect as they would other cookies, then the beasts wouldn't have been so disconnected with how cookies think and feel.
You can also see this being true maybe with how Shadow Milk has so many pictures of himself in the form of other cookies, even when the spire was under the illusion of the spire of knowledge. Maybe at first, those shapeshift forms were made so he could connect with others, fully be able to learn what it means to be a cookie and live like one, be treated as one.
In the end, they weren't treated like that, so they ended up playing god the entire time. And what happens when a mortal plays god? It gets to their head, and in most depictions of it, they get divine punishment. Which is what happened to the beasts.
I believe this also connects to why the ancients didn't fall into the same thing as the beasts and are never truly going to, even when they're set on the exact same path as their counterparts.
It's because, one way or another, they are intrinsically different from the beasts simply by the fact that they grew up in the cookie world as normal cookies. They learned humility, and they *earned* their place in their kingdoms and their reputation. They also earned their souljams, for they were not created simply as a means for the things to work or to guide cookies- they *chose* to guide and lead cookies, nobody had to make them do that. You could argue that the souljams did, but White Lily never formed a kingdom like the others, even when it's clear that she could very easily find people to rule over if she put her mind to it.
The most important thing with the ancients is that, even with their duties and feelings, they're free. More specifically, they're free from the expectations of the witches. And even with the expectations of other cookies, it's still not as bad as it was with the beast cookies when they were virtues, simply by the fact that the ancients aren't paragons sent by the gods like they were.
So no, the ancients are never going to end up like the beasts (at least not permanently) (or at least in my theory lol)
What i found interesting about Remmick is that he's the personification of the “all hope is lost" mentality. The other characters while also had known prejudice all their lives like him, share two things that Remmick lacks: a community (what he desperately seeks) and their mortality which allow them to seek for a better future.
Remmick was born during the colonisation of Ireland which started from the 12th century when they began to be slowly deprived of their lands, language, celtic religion and culture by the British. It would last nearly 800 years until the independance triggered by the breaking point of the Great Famine where a lot of Irish died or were forced to set abroad to America. Therefore Remmick doesn't see the value of living because his suffering never ended. His immortality never granted him the possibility to reach a better future but to be trapped alone in an endless world of pain and injustice. He probably can't conceive that lreland's independance 11 years prior will last or that the Civil rights movement will end the segregation in a few decades. He only valued past and want to revive it and freeze it through Sammie's mystical music. If he met 300 years old black and native fellow vampires that lived through slavery and American colonisation, the three of them would probably bear the same pessimist views of the future.
Him being on his own with no other lrish vampires while trying to integrate the native and black communities subtly showed he had probably tried to integrate his own Irish community in America and failed as well. From an 800+ years old vampire perspective, there is no future, no tomorrow to fight for, the only way to be free from this world is to free litteraly yourself from mortality. A choice that Mary and Stack ultimately embrace while Annie, Smoke and Sammie refuse.
It's also notable that most characters are Christians and most of them had biblical names (Mary, Sammie being Samuel, Smoke and Stack's real names are Elijah et Elias, Grace wears a cross around her neck) with the movie being called Sinners and Sammy's father being a puritan pastor. Remmick in comparaison is very reminiscent of Satan or Lucifer. He's a seductive manipulator and was cast away to Hell for his rebellion against the rule of God (here it's his rejection of death), to night, burned by the divine sun. As we later see, Remmick despised Christianity that was forced on him, he saw it as an invader force (parallel to vampirism in a way) that bounds people's mind to servitude (the notion of sin, of repentance, of damnation) so he's convinced that his great age and being born in a still non yet christianized time makes him knows better. From his biased view, the others characters are blind to their still servitude, the fatality of their existence because they were deprived of their past and conditionned by this foreign religion. That's why he dismissed the rejection of his proposal by others because for him, they can't refuse it from their own free will because they're too conditionned to fear damnation and Hell to have any. His mantra is litteraly "Prepare yourself to be rescued. Please do not resist."
That's the essence of his duality with Sammie. They are both musicans with supernatural abilities that allow them to commune with people - both leading the two danses scenes of the movie - and they are both deemed "sinners" or devil alike for that but Remmick is the one who lost his humanity and faith in future while Sammie never give up his dream and in the end, his confrontation with his father which parallels his last confrontation with Remmick allows him to finally break free and go live his life. Sammie refuses both the Devil's (Remmick) false freedom and God's (his father) life of traditionnal virtues and attonement to follow his own path.
Oh my god why am I doing this? Is it okay if we get some elaboration on Lux Imperator’s Predator prey kink? Please? 😳
Ahh, doing it for all the right reasons! Of course you can!!!!
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
!! MR. RING-A-DING / LUX IMPERATOR. !!
-- PREDATOR/PREY.
---> For this set, it will only take place in the cinema, for my own nom-confusion sake. If it's idealized, I'll make one for outside during night!
Tumblr media
!⚠️ THIS CONTAINS NSFW WHICH IS ; PREDATOR PREY, OVERSTIM, MARKING. MDNI. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. ⚠️!
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿
Finding out he had a predator prey kink was.. Unique.
He ADORES it even.
It's a sense of power,
Even elegancy..
Some form of.. Admiration in the hunting way, yet, he knows he will always catch you. That's the fun part. You can never escape from him!
You can't escape from light itself!
When you first tried experimenting, you wondered what he meant entirely, eyes staring at him.
...... Yeah. Weird way to find out that your toon God had that. Yikes.
You stood idly in the movie theater, your shoes lightly hitting the ground, trying to guide yourself around through the dark cinema. Honestly, malicious tap dancing is so scary. Let's be honest. Well, let's not focus on that entirely... Let's say you stop, he's right there. A few feet infront of you.
He loves that feeling of when you first notice him. How your face lightly falls and you realize you've been caught once again.
He WILL approach slowly, with his arms out, and doing that big stare he does in the scene. ( You know. The one where he frog blinks while saying they saved The Doctor for him. )
Think how an animal doesn't stop staring at it's prey and advances. That's exactly what he does.
If you look away, he does take his chance to rush at you. He finds it fun to toy with you like an actual animal, like he's seen from the movies that play.
He loves fear. It's control too. He's a God.
If you get away and lock yourself in a room, he can squirm under the door. He'll jokingly knock, say things like 'let me in, let me in!', 'Knock knock, who's there!?', 'Shave and a haircut!'. As if it's funny in this moment. Then he'll wiggle his way in, popping his form back to normal after, wagging a finger at you as he advances, eyes never moving off of you.
'Nowww, you sure did make a swell bash at gettin' away, didntcha?' ( Bash = Attempt. )
He's HARD to avoid after. Trying to run past him is like a nightmare, he's quick to block the path, almost like an acrobat to dodge your very move.
It's playful in a way too...
But, once you get free, what other hiding spots!?
Hiding under the bed, you will take deep breaths, trying to stay quiet. Before you feel warmth and glance over, his hand holding a small flame, a big grin..
'What are we hidin' from?'
As if he doesn't know. The nerve of that God.
Now, if you get away AGAIN!
Try to hide behind the curtains even?
You feel the curtains beginning to slide open from behind you, as a light dims and all.
You get away from that?
It's a wild goose chase and he's terrifying during it. He gets into any place. Any time. Any moment. With no hesitation.
He likes to come up behind you after finding you out in the open. Looking for him... And tap your shoulder, before moving to the opposite side of you, so when you look back and you realize--
YOINK!
He's quick to take the lunge, rubberhose arms wrapping around your waist and legs, 'I gotcha now, doll!'.
He's more... Teeth based for this kink. When doing the actual deed after a successful 'catch', he uses his teeth. A lot.
He nibbles your neck, your chest, your hips, your thighs, your ass, hickeys being left behind on you at times too. Which is weird.. Since they're a mix of a toon God and your.. You get it.
He's quite firm when he catches you. If you're in doggy, he wraps his arms around your waist, jack-hammering while drooling out.
Missionary?
Same thing, but looking at you smugly with a red, whining out face.
He tries to get in as deep as he can, trying to feel every clench and juice dripping onto him from you.
You cum and he cums too? No, no. No overstim! He chooses when your done! You're FINEEE you're not sensitive at all!
He loves when you whine and beg as he continues, feeling himself twitch inside desperately to keep feeling.
'No, no! I don't want to stop! I caught you, I do what I want.. Thems the rules, REMEMEEBERR?!'
Fuck.
Hey, reminder here...
Consent is crazy important to him too. And you would've agreed to this willingly. Happily proudly.
He can't get enough of you, especially in this sort of sense. He pressed his pig-snout against your skin, taking a sniff, admiring you entirely. Like an animal...
Hes needy.
Craving.
Desiring.
And it shows in this.
...
Of course, your sex has to come to an end but..
He doesn't like it when you bring up that what he does to catch you isn't fair. You know. His logic.
He puts a hand on his hip, his knuckles pressing againdt it, his other hand raising as if doing a pledge, and he rolls his eyes, 'DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH!'
︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵︵‿︵
Sorry if this is out of usual format! I was trying something new while getting myself back up into a good mood and feeling good!! I hope this is good.
BotW AU idea
So standard "Champions and Zelda fail, Link put in Shrine of Resurrection" setup, but this time each race has their own resurrection shrine. While they were united under the cause of defeating Calamity Ganon, none of the other races felt 100% secure fully backing the royal family of Hyrule, so when they each discovered their respective shrine, they kept it quiet, thinking they had the one and only resurrection shrine. 100 years pass, and they each begin to awaken, yet only Link has a voice in his head, Zelda unaware the other's were also put to rest.
While Link's journey remains fairly similar at the beginning, the other four embark upon their own adventures, too weak initially to jump right back into their Divine Beasts to reclaim them. Hell, it wouldnt matter given none have a Sheikah Slate to acess the beasts in the first place. Instead, upon convincing their respective people that they must defeat Calamity Ganon, determine that they must seek out shrines to increase their strength, find the lost Sheikah Slate to access their beasts, and perhaps reclaim memories from their time traveling Hyrule 100 years ago.
So you essentially end up with 5 amnesiac heroes traveling across the land, fully believing they're the one and only surviving Champion, completely unaware the other's are alive, let alone exist.
Mipha, the one with the closest connections in her homeland and therefore the hardest case to argue, ended up acquiring Gaddison as a companion. Sidon himself petitioned to travel with Mipha, but Dorephan could not get behind sending both of his children out into the world.
Urbosa, actually able to at the very least reclaim the Thunder Helm, convinces Riju to stay behind and lead their people. At first determined to travel alone, Urbosa crosses paths with a lone Goron (whatever that is, she thinks) named Reagah, who plans on heading to Zora's Domain. Hey, that's a place of interest to Urbosa, and maybe she'll find some shrines along the way. So the two embark, Reagah serving as a guide.
Daruk and Revali are unfortunately the two I've yet to figure out who they travel with or where they end up, but that's open to being fleshed out later. Essentially, each Champion leaves their home in the hopes of finding the Slate and acquiring more strength, eventually ending up at someone else's homeland, Link himself appearing at the same time.
For example, while Link took a slight detour after the Plateau, he eventually ends up at Zora's Domain, and guess what there's some Gerudo woman there as well. Urbosa's clever, and practically figures out Link is in possession of the Slate, but can't determine if he's an ally or not. She DID just encounter the Yiga, a group capable of disguising themselves, and who she's fully aware are hunting her (and the others apparently), so she's leary. Regardless, the two end up working together, low and behold Mipha herself isn't even there to free her own beast. Instead, she happens to be making her way to an entirely different beast.
Oh and for the Miphlink angle because fuck you I'm that bitch, it's always my angle. In this timeline given the Zora know that Mipha didn't perish in her beast, they never constructed her statue. So when Link is inevitably gifted the Zora Armor, since it takes both that AND the statue in BotW to get the memory, he doesn't remember her in that moment. Instead, he's got an armor that FEELS important to him, a couple pointed questions from some Zora wondering how much he remembers, and that's all.
Mipha doesn't remember him much at all either, but for her I think it'd be fun if she ends up in Hateno, Link's supposed childhood home. I think she even does the whole rebuilding the home memory, and upon finishing it finds a long forgotten necklace or something under a floorboard. It's got the same emblem of the Zora, how strange...
Basically each one is walking around with a gift the other made for them, fully unaware. Now the question is do they cross paths sooner in the AU and get a fun story of them slowly remembering them, or build up to the reunion towards the end? Decisions decisions...
JOY AND WOE: Chpt 3: "Can I See Another's Grief"
Summary: Mary Arkham wakes up in the lab, alone and in pain, until Dante comes back, his twin in tow. Conversations are had, choices are laid out, future paths chosen, and alcohol is blatantly stolen.
Excerpt:
“You listen here, dumbass,” Dante said, voice gentle. “I do not regret killing those motherfuckers. Hate myself for losing control, hate that I killed people without tryin’ to find another way, but I do not feel guilty for protecting you. I'm not the brightest, but I try not to make the same mistake twice. I stayed back and let you fight alone once. Never again.”
His gentle tone turned into a snarl that tap-danced right past Mary’s forebrain and straight to her hindbrain, where it proceeded to awaken the ancient instincts that had her primitive ancestors scrambling into trees. It was the snarl of a predator, top of the food chain, and Mary’s hindbrain was pretty sure she was going to die. Her Hunter training agreed with this assessment and promised to go down fighting, futile as it would be. Mary tried to reign her fight-or-flight in with frayed ropes of logic, because that snarl hadn’t been for her, and Dante was still speaking to Vergil.
“No one's going to hurt you ever again without me making sure they regret it for whatever short life they have left. You understand, Vergil? And just so we’re extra clear, me telling you this has fuck all to do with you rescuing my frozen ass, and everything to do with you being my stupid big brother. Even if DARKCOM had decanted me, pumped my blood full of exploding microchips, and sent me out to fight for them like some damn super soldier, I’d still have found a way to go looking for you. Ten years apart, twenty years, thirty, or a thousand doesn't matter. Because you’re my brother and I love you, you gigantic dickhead.”
Vergil’s face had gone blank for this unexpected tirade, but at that last, he let out a long sigh and sagged against his brother, letting his forehead rest on Dante’s shoulder. “I hate you.”
Dante smiled smugly, leaning his cheek against Vergil’s head. “‘Course you do.”
Taking a deep breath and sounding much calmer, Vergil asked, “At least explain to me why you insist on helping the woman. Why offer mercy to the soldier of an organization that gave none to you?”
It took Dante a moment to reply, and when he did, his voice was more somber than Mary had ever heard it. “I want to help her because… because it sucks to be trapped alone with the dead, okay? Especially when you’re helpless and scared. And just because they're a bunch of raging assholes doesn't mean I have to drop to their level. I'm Hell-blood, but I'm not a complete monster. I won’t leave someone alone in the dark.”
Vergil frowned, but when no rebuttal came, Dante kept talking, his tone now coaxing, “Tell you what? Help me at least get her home, and we'll put olives on the entire pizza.”
Vergil let out a surprised huff that might've been a laugh. He raised his head and met Dante's eyes. “You'll eat them?”
She couldn’t see it very well, but she could hear Dante’s eye roll. “Yes.”
“Then I want anchovies too.”
Dante's gasp of horror was genuine. “You… You… You don't even like anchovies! You hated them! You always said they were looking at you and it freaked you out!”
Vergil shrugged the best he could while still held captive by Dante's wings. “I've eaten far worse in the past decade. My desire to see you suffer far outweighs my own distaste for tiny fish.”
“Sadist,” Dante hissed. “Psychopath!”
“Most likely, yes. Do we have a bargain?”
literally!!!! this is me putting on my tinfoil hat, but we know for a fact linke disliked the og viktor and apparently always wanted him to be some dumb end of the world villain—which I REFUSE to believe the s1 we got was always leading to, perhaps the version that got scrapped, but not the final official version—but I'm convinced that despite the hexcore obviously being connected to the void following viktor's usage of shimmer, and again shimmer itself clearly being connected to the void, someone, somewhere on the arcane team finally made him realize his idea of a "better, less problematic, more unique" viktor was literally just malzahar with a side of zilean, a bonus retcon of ryze, and a design that mashes together a bunch of stuff that already exists in the league universe (primarily the void), but he refused to change it despite the end of s1 putting viktor into the perfect position to change directions and go down the path to be the machine herald.
so they abandon the story and themes established in s1 and don't continue with a grounded narrative in order to reach their generic, self indulgent mcu plot that favors spectacle over substance. however because they can't use the void as the big bad due to its connection to shimmer, as addressing shimmer would mean they'd have to critically and meaningfully engage with the piltover vs zaun conflict and the various complex moral, ethical, and political dilemmas presented in s1 and how those dilemmas often resulted in traumatic experiences that defined the characters and their actions, they're forced to find a different way to hit those same plot beats.
so forget the story of two sisters, two scientists, two forms of magic as technology, and two sister cities, forget the story about how systematic oppression creates traumatic cycles of violence, forget the story about how trauma can feed and nurture the monster hidden within us all to come to the surface, and say hello to "hextech was always bad because magic is inherently evil instead of a neutral force, and by trying to control it jayce and viktor disturbed the natural order of the world and must face divine punishment for daring to dream of a better future via its democratization. oh yeah but natural born mages like mel aren't evil though because their magic is natural and pure."
like I didn't even expect a happy ending to the series, I didn't even expect they'd actually do a zaun revolution, or if they did it wouldn't be successful in the sense of managing to create real change, but good god is "deeply traumatized young woman launches a terrorist attack against the wealthy council, potentially igniting a war between 2 cities" to "everyone teams up to fight a foreign invader and a magic, multiversal, time traveling god" a leap to take lmao.
I mean a continuation of s1 basically writes itself, the ball was set up and all s2 had to do was kick it—but instead it ran right past it and started doing something else entirely! the ending of s2 is pretty clearly meant to be hopeful, but it feels empty and unearned in every way.
I mean as sad as it would be, would it not be more fulfilling in a different s2 if after going through all the bloodshed and heartbreak of war, the status quo still persisted? would it not be tragic to see zaun gain independence, only for it to wash piltover’s hands clean of any responsibility to fix the conditions in zaun they caused? would it not be tragic for zaun to still not be capable of reaching the heights of piltover because with no shimmer, limited access to hextech, and people in power across the river who actively fight for their continued oppression (cough camille ferros cough), they're unable to gain a stable footing in that way? would it not be tragic for those with the capital and resources in zaun who are capable of enacting the large scale change not bothering to do so because they don't care about anything outside of their profits?
would it not be tragic for ekko and the firelights to finally achieve their main goal of eradicating shimmer, but the victory came at the cost of their tree, and everything it stood for, dying to a shimmer infection? would it not be tragic for viktor to overcome his illness, remove the hexcore's hold on his mind, and finally help people with his inventions, but he's unable to truly enjoy or appreciate his success because to defeat the hexcore he needed to heavily dampen or outright remove his emotions? would it not be tragic for sevika to see silco and vander’s (and her own) dream of an independent zaun come true, but she lacks the charisma and political power to lead zaun into a better future? would it not be tragic for jinx to finally do something right at the end, only for her reputation to prevent anyone from seeing the good she did? would it not be tragic for warwick to get some semblance of peace between the two cities, but to do so required him to become a literal blood thirsty monster that stalks zaun's streets?
would it not be tragic for caitlyn and vi to try reforming the enforcers and change policy regarding the justice system in hopes of bettering the relationship with zaun, only for it to change nothing and result in vi being ostracized by her community? would it not be tragic for jayce to have worked so hard to try and do some good for zaun, including compromising on his morals in order to properly play the game, only to be crushed at every opportunity until he's all out of the energy to fight, leading to an apathetic disillusionment with a system that even while he was at the top of it, refused to let go of the past? would it not be tragic for heimerdinger to finally see the true potential of hextech without being blinded by his fear thanks to ekko and the z drive, only to lose his relationship with ekko by returning to piltover to have access to hextech? would it not be tragic for him to lose the voice he still had on the council regarding policy through jayce and mel when the latter two are removed and/or step down after the war, preventing him from enacting the change he should've done decades ago? would it not be tragic for mel to have been forced to abandon diplomacy and mercy in order to enact violence against others, as while she chose to sever her ties to the medarda name and noxus, the medarda name and noxus has not severed its ties to her, most likely in the form of the black rose being brought up near the end of the season?
thinking about how ~the arcane~ in s2 which definitely wasn't just a rebrand of the void with targonian stuff thrown in for some reason was dealt with and getting mad about it again because the roots of a poisoned tree short story exists.
some mysterious magic related corruption of unknown origin spontaneously appearing deep underground that's affecting zaun environmentally? check. a powerful magic entity showing up to warn those who discovered it of its danger? check. the narrator recalling icathia, a lost city that became a dead wasteland after being consumed by the void, meaning that could be zaun and piltover's future if they don't come together to address the issue? check. boom, plot point achieved with no multiverse, no time loops, no demonization of hextech sending an anti science message, and no ripoff age of ultron final battle necessary since they could tie it all back to shimmer which was pretty obviously connected to the void.
the brainrot is telling me to do an evil karlach origin play through
#i feel like teaming up with gortash as karlach might get you some pretty stellar lines#especially if it's a version of her that's become ruthless and pragmatic#no way he wouldn't appreciate that#to see someone go through hell and come out exactly the same way he did#it would really confirm his worldview#maybe he'd even be kind of proud#and then of course she would betray him in the end#i feel like it'd be funny to get him all the way to the morphic pool and then kill him at the last minute#i'm not even sure if you can do that mechanically but it's like... give him so much false hope only to dash it at the last possible moment#that's vengeance baby#and you don't even have to harm the steel watch so you can repurpose them for yourself#god i don't know if i have it in me to start this game over for a fourth time though. this soon.#maybe i'll just write fanfic about it#the weird thing about npcs also being playable characters is you can play them massively out of character#which feels off but also like well yeah they're player characters in that scenario so the player has to have the choice#otherwise what's the point#it feels different with durge because they're not there if you don't pick them plus you can customize their appearance#so they feel more your own#plus the memory loss easily explains any change in personality#but it is also fun to explore the idea of alternate path lines for these characters that would never happen if they're npcs#i also kinda wanna do an astarion orgin with a minthara romance because i've heard they're really good together#apparently minthara is highly turned on if he ascends. naturally.#and she starts calling him “lord astarion” totally unprompted haha#god an evil wyll run would be horrible too... fuck i bet you can do the mizora sex scene with wyll that's fucked up#oh god if you're evil karlach too imagine tricking wyll into betraying mizora for you only to turn out to be everything he feared you were#💔
I'm not ready to shut up about Aveline and Carver--so, when you go see Aveline in Act 1, you can catch up with her a little bit and that's where this conversation can happen:
Aveline: "It's just one more change, though. The real end for me was Ostagar. What about you, Carver? You were there. Do you feel something similar?" Carver: No. Aveline: All right, then. Bit of a tit, your brother.
I wanted to see what she would say if Carver isn't in the party. Instead, she says this:
Aveline: Carver was there. I imagine he feels something similar. If he allows it.
......well, at least she didn't call him a tit?
#dragon age 2#da2#carver hawke#aveline vallen#she's slightly nicer to him when he's not there but she's still like 'maybe he feels something similar but probably pretends not to'#like i'm not gonna pretend that carver doesn't bottle any feelings--he doesn't openly talk about bethany a lot for a reason#but to suggest he pretends to be unfeeling about things like ostagar is incorrect like he CLEARLY feels a lot about it#because he associates the battle at ostagar with losing his home and sister to the darkspawn#after playing as a warrior hawke who is best friends with aveline i do have a little more insight into why she might think this about carve#when hawke is a warrior they were at ostagar. they share that traumatic experience with aveline and if they're friends#they discuss it in a way that i think aveline *wants* y'know? but with carver he doesn't respond the way she wants him to#so she gets frustrated since even if she tried to talk to hawke about it... hawke wasn't there. hawke doesnt KNOW what ostagar#was like but carver does... but it's like aveline is ready to assume the worst of carver a lot of the time?#like 'carver doesn't talk about it because he's a tit who pretends not to feel' is the vibe i get from this but aveline...#that's like calling you a tit because you don't want to openly discuss all your feelings about your dead husband#listen aveline and carver are so similar but they have such key differences like they both survived the horror of ostagar#and lost a loved one to darkspawn while fleeing lothering AND they both blame hawke for it to a degree#even though they both know that's not right and that it wasn't really hawke's fault#they're both stubborn warriors with daddy issues looking to find their place#and when it comes to flirting? well i don't think carver's as bad as aveline#but i played MotA i know all about 'you could tame its wild heart'#but the key differences come in how they the end the game y'know? especially if carver's on the friendship path as a warden#i still haven't made him a templar but something tells me he ends up more on the same road as aveline#vs when he's a grey warden and able to be away from kirkwall and find a place on his own#y'all i could write a whole essay on aveline and carver but i paused my game to write this so i should go back to that sksksk
honestly part of the reason i've been really looking forward to finally playing light fingers (aside from the obvious horrors and whatnot) is because it, alongside bag a legend, contains a Choice™ i to this day am Extremely Torn About Making. like i've known for ages that the Choice™ exists in this ambition and STILL i am undecided about it. this Choice™ is of course. well. let's just say that by the time this ambition ends, caeru may not be the only catboy around town
Don't you just hate it when you track down a shady ethics-free Victorian laboratory to have a violent talk with the weirdos who threatened people you've made it your penitent life-mission to protect only to discover someone else has beaten you to the punch (and certain organs) and they just so happen to be your resurrected Creator who's been dead for almost a century and it's all So Awkward, ughhhhhh
going thru my screenshots from 2.3 while waiting for the update (because i stupidly didn't pre-install them) and this might be my favorite part of the tb mission.
himeko is telling us that at its core, humanity is rooted in storytelling and the nameless’s mission to travel across the galaxy embodies this spirit. their journey centers around exploring new worlds but the significance of their travels goes beyond mere exploration; it's about encountering diverse stories from different people and places. it's in the "miniscule". it's in the individual tales that contribute to a grander tapestry of human existence which they strive to remember and honor. it's in how the nameless creates a shared experience that they carry along with them to other planets they visit. it's how they're able to create connections that transcend the vast distance it probably takes for the astral express to traverse from one planet to another. exploration becomes merely the means to achieve their true goal: to forge connections via the star rail through stories they encounter. it's why i think it's very fitting that the trailblaze is considered the one closest to humanity. in a world that extends as vast as the cosmos, they choose to ground themselves in these stories, to remember them when no one else would. because it's these individual tales and the ongoing dialogue between them that creates a continuous, living narrative that binds living species across the galaxy together.
