It all happened so fast that Danny doesn't really remember dying at all. It was like, one moment he was alive, the next he's dead. He remembers hitting the button, and the lights coming on, and then a great big flash.

Then he was outside of the portal.

He thinks he may have been screaming, but that's not true at all. The only sound he made was a split-second, startled gasp as the portal turned on, that was cut-off before he could finish the noise. The only ones who were screaming were Sam and Tucker; Danny was dead before he could feel anything.

The most vivid thing to him was the terror before the light. The blood rushing moment of mind-numbing fear and cold revelation that he was going to die, and there was nothing he could do about it. A weird sort of resignation, desperation, horror, and static calm that hit him all at once.

He was extremely disoriented when he woke up. Like waking up from a long nap and struggling to comprehend what the day or time was, but knowing instinctively that time has passed. He didn't stay in his ghost form for that long either, further cementing his confusion.

From the moment he hit the button to the few minutes after he woke up is an unsolved jigsaw puzzle to him.

It took him about a day and a half to fully remember what happened beyond 'went into the portal, then suddenly i was out of it and everyone was freaking out', and then a week to process.

Sam and Tucker remember his accident better than he does. They say he was in a daze after he woke up, before he recognized where he was. And he kinda just... squinted at them like he didn't know who they were, and said something in a language they couldn't understand. He was terrifyingly calm and passive, and still smoking.

(They later find out its ghostspeak. He was asking them where he was.)

It was only the moment he realized where he was that he transformed back into human. That's the moment where Danny's memory officially cuts back in for him. His first time as a ghost, and he doesn't really remember it that well.

Just sent my little brother a youtube video depicting the new Until Dawn ending and now we are theorising like crazy and this is genuinely the most conversation we have had with each other in over a year.

When the original game came out, I was 12 and he was 8, and he's turning 18 next month and I haven't lived with him in over three years, and we've only spoken a handful of times since our dad died, but I so much as mention Until Dawn and now we're yapping away endlessly and this is SO IMPORTANT TO ME.

thinking about how one of the last things john ever tells dean is an admittance that the way he treated him was fucked. & of course this destroys dean and makes it so much harder for him to come to terms w his death right after and with his childhood in general bc he’s spent his entire life chasing after johns approval. he’s spent his entire life telling himself that the way he was treated was okay and justified and that their childhood was good because he could handle it and he was strong enough and that was how it had to be. he’s worshipped john as a hero and seen nothing wrong with any of it. because he��s had to. his entire life is built around this idea there’s nothing else. he’s his dads perfect soldier and punching bag and wife-replacement and suddenly his dads gone & he said he’s sorry and that he shouldn’t have treated dean that way. what the hell is he supposed to do now.

my take on sam & destiel is that I think sam does Not know they are in love with each other he’s just like y’know. my brother has many issues and was raised by our dad so of course he is weirdly attached to cas. and cas is an angel whose fall into humanity was kickstarted by dean And his social circle is mostly limited to them so of course he is weirdly attached to dean. But. crucial. I think unconsciously to himself he Does mentally put cas into a sort of dean’s wife slot. like every time cas and dean fight and/or cas disappears it affects the whole household (sam) through dean. like if dean drove down to sam’s house to sulk and sleep on his couch only they already live and work together most of the time so sam can’t escape. he does feel like he is affected by his brother’s divorce he just doesn’t spin this out into a realization that his brother is Literally going through a divorce or widowhood

yes early-seasons sam was much more ready/willing to jump on any morally questionable solution if it meant “saving” dean (s1 faith healer that turned out to be taking a life to restore a life, s3 the idea of becoming an undead creature that sustained itself by harvesting ppl’s organs) but samndean’s relationship from s1-s3 was the most balanced it would ever be. they were freshly back together and sam’s desperation to hold onto his brother mirrored dean’s back then because tbfh this was before their thing started Irreversibly Rotting.

also why do you think it’s the same thing for sam to be presenting dean w/ unsavory solutions to his impending death aka giving him the choice and praying he’ll take it, as for dean to trick sam into something he admits outright sam would never agree to knowingly and then proceed to gaslight him abt it for weeks and keep others like cas away so they can’t interfere.

sam’s response wasn’t moral outrage lmfao it was as usual abt dean violating his autonomy and neglecting to treat him like an equal rather than his personal property.
